Differences Of Geert Hofstede Six Dimensions Of Cultures
Every country has their way of thinking when it comes to working. Some country work and think
differently from others. Using Geert Hofstede Six Dimension s of Cultures, I ll compare and contrast
the differences between China and the United States on how they impact work relationships.
The first dimension s of cultures in Geert Hofstede is Power Distance. This dimension deals with the
fact that all individuals in societies are not equal it expresses the attitude of the cultures towards these
inequalities amongst us (Hofstede, 2017). The differences between these two are that China in this
dimension (Power Distance) scores an 80, while the United States scores a 40. China believes that
inequalities amounts people are acceptable and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the American organizations, superiors are accessible and managers rely on individual employees
and teams for their expertise (Hofstede, 2017). Communications is important and the American people
look after themselves and their immediate families only and should not rely on authorities for support.
American men s don t like to develop deep friendships, but the Americans aren t shy to approach
another person when obtaining or seeking information. The Americans also believe that promotion
and decisions are based on merit or evidence of what one has done or can do (Hofstede, 2017).
Masculinity indicates that a high score indicates that the society will be driven by competition,
achievement, and success, with success being defined by winner / best in the field a value system that
starts in school and continues throughout organizational life (Hofstede, 2017). A low score means that
the dominant values in society are caring for others and quality of life. Also, it is the sign of success
and standing out from the crowd is not admirable. This is the third dimension on Geert Hofstede Six
Dimensions of Cultures.
In this dimension, China scores a 66 while the United States scores a 62. China is a success oriented
and driven society. Leisure time is not important to them as they will work hard just to provide for
their family. Also in China, workers will leave

Bob Marley s Song, Three Little Birds
The song, Three Little Birds by Bob Marley has a very uplifting and calm beat. Bob Marley is a
Reggae Roots musician that wrote songs that became hits such as Redemption Song and One Love.
Three Little Birds is a song that talks about three birds that say Don t worry about a thing. Cause every
little thing gonna be alright. Singing don t worry about a thing Cause every little thing gonna be
alright. This section of the song describes me because I try to lift people up when they are sad and
support them through the situation. I always prefer to be happy which is what this song means when it
says not to worry about a thing. I believe that happiness is like a stream, it flows from one person to
another through music. Bob Marley says he

Ally s Welcome Home-Personal Narrative
Welcome Home It has been fifteen year since the killing of Ally s father. Now her brother, Matthew,
was leaving her to stage four lung cancer. Ally was a twenty eight year old lady, and her skin tone was
white. She had blue eyes and blond hair. Matthew, her brother, was Ally s protector, he was her savior,
and now Ally felt all alone in this dangerous world. She knew that she could not continue their
business by herself. On the day of her brother s funeral, Ally was so determined to go. She was all
dressed in black, and she had her hair nicely pinned up. But right as she was about to leave, she
stopped in the doorway of her front entrance. She panicked at the sight of daylight and fresh air,

I m going to finish Ally off for good. Dion whispered to Josh, She killed our brother and she must pay.
So go while you still have the chance. Dion was committing suicide and they both knew it, yet Josh
still obeyed his brother s orders and kept going while Dion searched the house for Ally once again.
Ally darling come out come out wherever you are. Dion chanted. Out of nowhere Ally came out of the
closet and attacked Dion. Then *BANG* the gun had went off. Josh stopped dead in his tracks, but by
this time Josh had already made his way out of the house and was about to leave the front yard. Josh
hoped for Dion to come out of the house, what now seemed so dark, but Dion never did. Ally was the
one who showed up and stood in the doorway, knowing she could not still leave the house. Later that
evening, Ally was arrested and put was into a mental facility. Just like Ally inherited her father s
psychoticness, it was then passed down to Josh. Four years after the incident, Josh came back to Ally,
he helped her escape the facility, and together Ally and Josh continue the business her and her brother
had. Welcome home sweetie. You now go by the name Sage, and this here is now forever your room.

For example, copper is a good heat conductor whereas stainless steel is not. So we should consider the
heat conduction capacity of the cookware set.
Price Price of the cookware set which we are buying is the most important determining factor. The
rule of thumb with cookware is to buy the best you can afford.
Handles and lids We should examine handles and lids and make sure that they are solid and durable.
They must provide secure and easy grip so as to work in a comfortable manner.
Cool touch Handles should be equipped with a quality of remaining cool so that buyers can easily
work with the pots and pans.
Durability Some types of cookware will maintain their good looks and last longer than others.
Stainless steel is known to be one of the best in this respect that even after so much extensive use
these products maintain their durability.
Thickness The pots and pans must have the minimum required thickness. For aluminum core metal
cookware, a thickness between 3.0 mm to 5.0 mm is considered ideal for even heat distribution.
Reactivity Some metals react with certain foods. So while buying a cookware set we should make sure
that it should not contain any chemicals or metallic compounds which makes our food

The Economic Inequality Of Australia
Australia, although being a multicultural country where everyone is equal, there is a severe presence
of economic inequality. With millions of people living poverty, Australia s wealthy continue to
accumulate wealth, whereas the poor continue to become poorer. With the economic inequality in
Australia rising, the Australian government is contributing to this by creating new policies within the
budget, making those who are disadvantaged already worse off. Rather than creating policies that
make the wealthy even wealthier, the government should be reducing the burden on those who
actually have substantial burdens already. The government is aware that there are ways in which they
can reduce the economic inequality in Australia, however with ... Show more content on

This means that those who are already well off, are getting advances that make them wealthier and
those who are struggling are only getting small advances that determine whether they can put food on
the table and provide for their families. An example of a struggling Australian dealing with the
economic inequality posed against him is Duncan Storrar. Storrar appeared on a popular political show
on the ABC, Q A and posed a question to the panel. I have a disability and limited education. I ve been
a low income earner my whole life and as such I pay a larger percentage of my income in taxes than
the average Australian. Lifting my tax free threshold would change mine and my children s life. How
come rich people get a lift in their threshold? It means nothing to them but to me it would mean my
kids hear something else apart from sorry girls, daddy is broke (Storrar, 2016). Duncan is just one
example of how he economic inequality in Australia affects its citizens.
The government of Australia highly impacts the economic inequality in Australia with doing things
such as bringing in polices and aiming the budget at certain demographics. After the highly anticipated
budget release of 2016, the government told Australians of the major budget measures that were going
to affect them. This included a raise of the tax bracket for middle income earners, redefining it as
$87,000 rather than the current $80,000. Currently, the bracket is for those who earn $37,001 $80,000.

Sidney Love Sonnet
Valuing Power During the Elizabethan Era, the English thrived in the ways of culture. Literature,
poetry, theater, and music all saw tremendous advancement. Love sonnets became particularly popular
due to the opportunity they offered their authors to express their most alluring desires, while sticking
to the strict guidelines of a sonnet. One particular 16th century writer, Sir Philip Sidney, wrote love
sonnets that followed the relationship of the desire ridden Astrophil and the object of his affection,
Stella. Poetry at this time often had political or religious influences, and Sidney s work was no
exception. Focusing specifically on Sonnet 69, Sidney metaphorically relates a personal experience to
a political gain, suggesting that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There was constant speculation over whether or not a woman was fit to rule, so a man no doubt would
have stolen not only her power, but the people s respect as well. In order to understand the political
agenda present in the sonnet, one must notice the power Elizabeth I would have lost with a marriage,
versus the power that Astrophil figuratively gained through obtaining Stella s love. In order for suitors
to gain power from either woman, the women had to have had power for them to acquire. Similar to
Queen Elizabeth, Stella is portrayed as a woman of power and appears to be highly sought after. Her
love was an indescribably, wonderful prize to the speaker, just as Queen Elizabeth s hand in marriage
would have been quite an accomplishment for any nobleman. Words such as nobler , kings , covenants
, and monarchs are all present in the poem, not only alluding to the political agenda present in the
work, but possibly Stella s societal position. Elizabeth I was showered with ravishing gifts and
compliments routinely by her courtiers. These men of her court sought to woo and impress the
unattainable queen. This need to grasp the queen s attention also pertains to the relationship between
writing love sonnets and court politics as a whole under Queen Elizabeth. The frustration that follows
loving someone and that love not being reciprocated was a vital aspect of much of the love poetry at
the time. This popular

Lance Armstrong and Overcoming Obstacles Essays
Pedaling strong through the Pyrenees Mountains at remarkable speed, Lance Armstrong approached
the tenth stage of the Tour de France. Beginning at an elevation of thirty three feet above sea level,
Armstrong was in sixteenth position with five minutes and fifty four seconds separating him and the
leader. For many this would be an insurmountable amount of time to makeup, especially on a stage
containing such a grueling and exhausting climb, but Armstrong saw it as an opportunity to put his
great mountain climbing skills to work (Stein 60). Pacing himself through the majority of the stage, he
remained well behind the leader. Then it happened; he reached the horrendous Mount Hautacam, and
began his eight mile sprint through the rain and up ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The most grueling climb in Stage 10, Mount Hautacam, was ranked hors de categorie, meaning the
ascent to the top is so steep it cannot be appointed a specific number (Thomsen 42). It is the Tour s
way of saying, You [sic] don t want to know (Murphy 38).
One by one, Lance picked away at his competitors, leaving them with nothing but exhaustion. After a
punishing climb of 4,954 feet over one hundred twenty seven miles,
Armstrong finished Stage 10 with an overall first place. Creating a four minute and fourteen second
margin between him and the previous leader, Armstrong had gained a total of more than ten minutes
during the most grueling stage throughout the entire Tour de France (Stein 60). He then raced through
the remaining stages with great momentum and victoriously broke across the finish line on July 23,
2000 for the second consecutive time since his diagnosis of cancer (Sterling 2; Armstrong, Lance ).
This accomplishment would be remarkable for anyone, but for a cancer survivor to attain such a feat is
extraordinary. Lance Armstrong is indeed an extraordinary human being. He has achieved tremendous
heights not only in the highly competitive world of cycling but also in common, everyday life. To
many he is a champion, to others a role model, but no matter how he s viewed, he is an inspiration to
everyone. After being diagnosed with cancer, Lance Armstrong fought back courageously and showed
the world what a true hero really is.

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Microorganisms
1. Biofilms
Microorganisms, like most other species on this planet, are also well acquainted with the benefits of
joining hands together as a single community. Sometimes, in response to various factors, a biofilm
may be formed. A biofilm is a community of bacterial cells, enclosed within a self produced matrix of
Extracellular Polymeric Substance (EPS)1. In simpler terms, it means that bacteria can join together
on a surface, living or non living, and form a protective matrix around the entire group. This matrix is
generally composed of extracellular DNA, polysaccharides and proteins. Also, the microbial cells
growing in a biofilm undergo physiological changes, as a result of which they are different from
planktonic cells of the same organism (single cells that may float around in a liquid medium).
Formation of biofilms offers the microorganisms various advantages; it enables transfer and sharing of
genetic material, metabolic by products, it also provides shelter during environmental changes, offers
an increased tolerance to antimicrobials and also protection from the immune system of the host
organism. Clearly, biofilms are well equipped to cause diseases in various organisms. The microbes
attach themselves to surfaces, initially using weak Vander Waal s forces. However, if they are not
separated, they attach ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

A Day s Wait Short Story Essay
Parents are always fond of telling tales of when their children were young and had some silly
misunderstandings. Two stories from about 100 years ago also tell of children s simple, yet funny
misconceptions. The story A Day s Wait is written by Ernest Hemingway and is in the perspective of
the father of his son. It is about the little son, named Schatz, who has come down with the flu and the
father is wondering why Schatz in acting weird while recovering. Turns out Schatz thought he was
going to die, due to a high fever. This misunderstanding happened because he got confused with the
difference between Fahrenheit and Celsius. A Stolen Day by Sherwood Anderson has a different story,

of the different thermometers. While in the story A Stolen Day it says, It was then that my own legs

teacher, Sarah Suggett, had come out into the schoolhouse yard. (A Stolen Day) The Boy was not sick,
but he later convinces himself that he is. Another difference in the text is how the boys react when
they get attention. In the story A Day s Wait, it says, After a while he said to me, You don t have to
stay in here with me, Papa, if it bothers you, said Schatz. It doesn t bother me, I said. No, I mean you

Very likely there ll be someone who has seen me sitting by the pond fishing, and there ll be a big
alarm and all the town will turn out and they ll drag the pond. I was having a grand time, having died.

Public Policy Goals For Ip Voice Services Haven
The future of VOIP could also be formed by a lot of politics. As we ve seen, the various approaches of
the EU and therefore the U.S. haven t made any form of neutral zone during which problems with
VOIP readying will be adjudged solely on their technical deserves. In the U.S., the history of linking
social and economic policies to a network centric read of the globe has caused inevitable confusion as
services become more and more application centric. And up to date steps to accommodate public
policy goals to IP voice services haven t mainly addressed the massive queries of regulative

European Union has not made the applying of regulatory discretion immune from political support by
dominant carriers. First, through international consultation. Europe and also the U. S. (much less the
remainder of the planet, as well as the nations of Asia that lead the world in broadband deployment)
need not adopt identical rules. They will leave room for experimentation. For example, the approach
to emergency services need not be identical perhaps there is a demand for governmental mandate,
perhaps for voluntary (but ubiquitous) business action, perhaps just for government mandated shopper

harmonization, as VOIP services move freely across borders. Second, by understanding the bounds of

Varicocelectomy Lab Report
Abstract Introduction: We aim to predict results of varicocelectomy on sperm density and progressive
motility using preoperative clinical, laboratory and radiological data and to propose cut off values for
significant parameters. Methods: This prospective study was carried out between July 2011 and June
2014. We included 123 patients in our study. They were diagnosed with primary infertility with
varicocele, were scheduled for varicocelectomy, and completed their follow up. We excluded patients
with azoospermia, total necrospermia, recurrent varicocele, and pituitary hormonal abnormalities.
Varicocele was diagnosed and graded by physical examination and colour Doppler ultrasound. Semen
analyses were completed preoperatively and 6 months postoperatively. Microscopic subinguinal

Patient demographics, pre and postoperative clinical data (varicocele grade and semen parameters)
were statistically analyzed. Results: The mean ± standard deviation of age, body mass index, and
subfertility duration was 28.3 ± 7.4 years, 29.1 ± 2.7 kg/m2, and 21.9 ± 7.1 months, respectively.
About 53% of our patients (n = 66) had bilateral varicocele, and unilateral disease was found in the
other 57 (46.3%) cases. Varicocele grade I was diagnosed in 42 (34.1%) patients, while the other 81
(65.9%) patients had grade II or III. Higher grades of varicocele, preoperative total testosterone level,
sperm density, and progressive motility had a statistically significant impact on the outcome of
varicocelectomy in univariate testing. Multivariate logistic analysis revealed that grade of preoperative
varicocele (95% confidence interval [CI] 5.6 6.3, p = 0.007) and sperm density (95% CI 2.7 1.6, p =
0.0035), and progressive motility (95% CI 1.1 2.3, p = 0.0123) are independent predictors of semen
parameters improvement after varicocelectomy. Conclusion: The grade of the varicocele, sperm
density, and

Compare And Contrast Haiti And Reiti
From the 1750s to the 1900s, nationalism raged like a wildfire and extended in flaming tendrils across
the world. Nationalism was born in Europe under the fledgling ideas of enlightenment intellectuals
and chafing rule of Napoleon; however, people most felt nationalism outside Europe. Two such
nations rocked by nationalistic ideas were China and Haiti. Both countries underwent massive
political reforms in the time between 1750 and 1900, but each nation s policies differed in foreign
relations, economics, and racial issues. China and Haiti both had to battle with foreign, specifically
western, powers; however, Haiti utilized nationalism to gain independence, and China had to fight
nationalism to stay sovereign. In the mid 1700s, China was a strong, ... Show more content on

high taxes, angry with English economic rule. This lead to the massively bloody Taiping Rebellion of

rebellion greatly weakened Qing rule, but the Qing were able to hold onto their rule. Similarly, in
Haiti black slaves and gens de couleur grew tired of mistreatment by white settlers. Racial tensions
were high. Black and people of mixed heritage banded together under enlightened sentiments of
liberty and national identity and revolted against white French rule. Under these nationalistic
sentiments, the Haitians politically reformed Saint Domingue. In both China and Haiti, political

Cornell College Reflection
7. What summer experience has been of significance to you? Why?
Summer of 2017 at Cornell s condensed 6 weeks semester with credit, taught by their professors was a
sheer pleasure.
It gave me a true preview of the college experience.
I learn to speak with not talk to my professors and teaching assistants when I needed help and to
discuss class topics to further my knowledge by exploring the topics with them in conversations.
I learned to plan, such as checking my email frequently for posted assignments a week before they
were due, instead of a day, like in high school.
I had to learn to manage my time more effectively.
No adult or parents telling me what to do; I was completely free.
The Cornell Summer College allowed me to gain the responsibility that comes with real freedom.

Overpopulation Is A Global Catastrophe
Naturally, as our population grows in size our growth rate increases exponentially. As a result, we face
the issue of overpopulation, one of the many dangerous trends discussed in Anthony Barnosky and
Elizabeth Hadly s Tipping Point for Planet Earth. Currently, if we do not make any changes, it is
expected that we will reach a population size over twenty seven billion people by the year 2100.
Along with this massive increase in population size, we will also face a rise in food and water
shortages, an increase in population density, and an overall loss of quality of life. In order to prevent
these potential effects, Barnosky and Hadly suggested three possible solutions to combating
overpopulation a global catastrophe, a one child policy, or an increase in education, job, and
contraception availability among girls. Any one of these solutions will potentially help us prevent
overpopulation; however, exactly which solution it ends up being all depends on our preparation and
the actions we take now. Ideally, we would like to avoid a global catastrophe that would decimate the
population. But, if we are unable to lower our growth rate another world war, or something like a
pandemic could occur. While no correlation between population density and nation level conflict has
been made, the connection between overcrowding and increased internal conflict has been (Tir 1998).
Thus, it would be preferable to take advantage of the other solutions like the one child policy that

Multiple Signs Of Infection, Retinal Vascular Sheathing...
Our patient presented with multiple signs of infection, which can t initially be pinpointed to one
disease alone. The three important signs to initially address and understand the science behind are
perivasculitis, retinal vascular sheathing and retinal hemorrhages. All three medical definitions appear
straightforward and all very similar, but the combination of the three leads to a serious diagnosis and
urgency for this patient.
Perivasculitis is an inflammation of a sheath surrounding the tissue 1. In class we discussed the
differences between perivasculitis and periflabitis. Perivasculitis should be white because of the
inflammation and the white blood cells then spilling out. The Prefix peri means around, or on the
outside of the tissue. Retinal vascular sheathing is sheathing or cuffing of blood vessels and vitreous
cells . The swelling or cuffing of blood vessels in the retinal layer is a serious condition and is often
associated with vasculitis. Finally, a retinal hemorrhage is abnormal bleeding of the vessels in the
retina 2. Retinal hemorrhages can be caused for a variety of reasons such as injuries like forceful
blows or accidents and falls, as well as adverse health conditions. We know that the loss of vision can
be largely attributed to the excess debris that is currently located in the eye, the debris being blood that
is leaking out. Our case states that he has no previous trauma however, proving that there is an ulterior
cause to the acute onset of the

Comparing Abbott s Visit To The Catholic Church
An abbot is the superior, or head, of a Christian monastery. Abbotts are in charge and responsible for
all of the everyday actions that occur in monasteries. In order for an abbott to become the superior at a
monastery, the community elects a certain individual to hold the position of abbot. The criteria that
community uses to decide on are goodness of life and wisdom in teaching. If the abbot is unable to
fulfill this requirement, the community must act and replace the abbot with a new candidate that will
follow the word of God. Once in office, the abbot must keep in mind that his job is to please God,

the voice of authority in their actions ( Chapter 5 pg: 29 30). If a brother is to not follow the voice of
authority, the result will be punishment by higher authority. In fear of being punished and disobeying
God, brothers must listen to abbots no matter how absurd the speech is. If a brother were to disagree
or object to a certain rule, the brother would be quieted immediately. According to the Prophet, there
are times when good words are to be left unsaid out of esteem of silence... Speaking and teaching are
the master s task; the disciple is to be silent and listen (Chapter 6 pg: 31). The brother, or disciple, is
not encouraged to speak up or intervene in situations where it may be needed. For the higher authority,
it is beneficial for the brothers to be silent and listen so that there are not any disciples to interrupt and
question the authority of higher officials. Like obedience, restraint of speech allows high authority to
maintain its control of disciples and prevent the chances of anyone from having their own

Mauna Kea is a dormant volcano, but it s altitude and location in the middle of the Pacific Ocean

Our Needs And Wants Essay
Our Needs and Wants: effects on our inner peace
Life, in general, has not changed over the years; it is only the surroundings and circumstances that
have changed. The way we choose to react to those changes, determines the direct effect on the quality
of our life. We need to focus on the need of distinguishing, between the ever increasing
responsibilities on our shoulders and other insignificant matters that consume our precious time.
Our needs and wants are two distinct entities. We need to separate our needs from our wants in order
to achieve satisfaction. It is definitely not a simple matter. The dilemma is that we all want everything,
but we don t need everything we want. When we can quiet the unnecessary, we can give an

We need to find an opportunity to coach somewhere, in fact anywhere. Find a young person, a young
team, jump in and impart training, like we would if we were coaching at the highest level. Such
initiative and experience, will give us sufficient boost to reach our goals, and actually become a sport
coach one day.
We should not be afraid to take small steps. There s something powerful about momentum...no matter
how little. Many times, the impossible is simply the untried. When we are immobilised with fear,
when each task ahead appears to be a huge one, when we are unable to lift ourselves to face it at those
moments we can break the dilemma by using two simple words: Do something! By taking some small
steps, the required momentum will begin to come into our life.
Most people don t succeed because they are too afraid to even try. As incredible as it sounds, they
decide in advance that they are going to fail. Many times, our final goal seems so distant unachievable
that we don t even make an effort. But, once we have made our decision and actually start, it s like we
are halfway

Character Analysis of Shylock in William Shakespeare´s...
The presentation of a character may affect the amount of sympathy the character gains from the
audience. Shakespeare presents the character of Shylock as a flesh eating, greedy and obsessive
character in his play merchant of Venice ; by doing this Shakespeare manipulates the response
Shylock gets from the audience in Act 4 Scene 1. Our response is manipulated by S. so most of the
audience, by the end of the play, feel none or very little sympathy towards the character of Shylock.
The audience see the side of Shylock, who is driven by the desire for revenge. At the start of the play
Shylock says in his soliloquy If I can catch him once upon the hip this shows his crave to catch
Antonio out, it also shows that all Shylock wants is the upper hand; to have power over Antonio. In
that same speech he also says feed fat the ancient grudge indicating that he will feed fat of Antonio as
a way of revenge and this will be the only thing that satisfies him to the full. Shakespeare uses
alliteration in this speech, which makes it more memorable for the audience so they can remember the
thoughts of Shylock. S. also associates Shylock with cannibalism, it gives the audience a clear
indication that Shylock s aim is to Kill Antonio. Therefore when Shylock is stripped from his chance
of revenge, the audience may not feel sympathy for him as they know that is intention was to kill
Antonio, and he had a clear motive for it. Shylock s motive may actually be the fact that he is losing

Alamo Stereotypes
Texas was fighting the Mexican army for their independence in 1835, which leads to fighting in the
small fort called the Alamo. The Texans had been defeated at the Alamo, on April 23, 1836, for
Texans, the Battle of the Alamo became a symbol of the resistance to oppression and their struggle for
independence, which they won later that year. The 1915 movie The Alamo (The Birth of Texas) was
the first movie to tell us what happened in the Battle of the Alamo but did a bad job in telling it. There
was another film made in 2004 also called the Alamo which did a much better job than the original
one in 1915. Both the 1915 and 2004 are good movies but have many scenes and information factually
wrong.
The 1915 movie for the Alamo was full of stereotypes and racism for Mexicans, black people, and
women. The Mexicans in this film were not played by Mexican actors but white men painted in brown
paint also known as brown face. The Mexicans were portrayed as people that are always drunk and
having parties. Which is incorrect Mexicans are proud, hardworking, and respectfully people and they
are villains in this movie. In the movie, they show the Mexicans dancing and drinking in the middle of
the day without a care in the world.
The women in this film are shown to be parting and doing nothing just like the Mexican men in the
movie. They are shown wearing clothes that are not a part of that era of time when the Alamo
happened. The women are also white females that are painted in brown face

Mass Incarceration And Its Effects On The United States Essay
Mass incarceration is a major problem in the United States. Since the tough on crime movement that
began to emphasize more punishment and creating new policies such as; three strikes law, truth in
sentencing laws, mandatory sentencing, and determinate sentencing, our prisons and jails have
become overcrowded. The three strikes law increases the prison sentence of an offender convicted of
three felonies or serious crime. Usually the punishment ranges from a minimum of 25 years to life in
prison. The truth in sentencing laws require the offender to serve a substantial amount of their prison
sentence (usually around 85 percent) before they are eligible for release on parole. The mandatory
sentencing requires a minimum period of incarceration that the offender must serve regardless of the
history of the offender or the nature of the circumstance. These get tough policies have implicated
longer prison and jail sentences and has reduced the amount of discretion that the judges,
parole/probation officers and prison and jail administrators. These actions have consequently
increased the prison and jail population, which causes an increase in money spent on jails and prisons.
The United States have moved away from rehabilitating offenders. Incarcerating offenders without
trying to rehabilitate them only increases the chances of them returning back to jail or prison. The
correctional system should focus their attention on rehabilitating offenders and looking at alternatives

Abortion Pro Life Research Paper
Rose Willis 3 13 15 English Abortion: A Call of Help for Life Abortion was outlawed in the eighteenth
century, and legalized in the nineteenth century. Ever since the Supreme Court legalized abortion,
more than hundreds of abortions are performed daily. Abortion is a constant debate among pro life and
pro choice. Not everybody believes or agrees with the same point of view. People argue pro life or pro
choice, if it is murder or not, however, an abortion ends the pregnancy before giving birth thus ending
the life of a living unborn child. Pro life supporters believe abortion is murdering a child. They
suggest other alternatives for the life of the child. A fetus is living as soon as it is conceived.
Therefore, it is killing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They believe that since it is the woman s body, it is her choice. In the pro choice argument, the group
says it is safer for teens to have an abortion than to give birth because teens are not yet completely
developed to have a baby. Teenage girls are not ready to physically give birth to their child. Their
bodies need to mature before being able to give birth to a baby safely (Durrett, 18). Raising a baby is
too hard for teens because they often are not yet prepared. Teenage girls, still have an education to
finish and a future to plan. They are not financially prepared to have a baby and will rely too much on
parents or guardians. When an abortion has failed or even thought about, there will be hurt. Pro choice
supporters believe unhealthy relationships will occur between mother and child because of being
unwanted. The baby will feel unloved and worthless and that will be key for the relationship going
down the gutter. There will be too much conflict for both of them to handle and this will cause a
terrible life for both the child and mother. They believe there should be no debate over what someone
else should do with their own body. Another difference is whether the fetus is a baby. Pro choice say
the fetus is not a person yet, therefore it is not murder. A baby is a person when it takes its first breath
outside of the womb. When a baby is no longer attached to its mom and living and breathing on its
own is when life begins for the baby. Meaning they do not believe obviously that the fetus is a baby.

Glory And Centerfield Sound Devices
There are many different types of poems. All poems have a meaning to them, and those meanings are
all unique to each and every poem. Much like poems, songs have very many types and genres and
different meanings. Glory , a poem by Yusef Komunyakaa, and Centerfield , a song by John Fogerty,
are very similar to each other. Both poems and songs use poetic language such as figurative language
and sound devices. These help the poem or song flow better, sound more interesting, and keep the
readers or listeners attention. Glory is a poem about young men who use baseball as an escape from
their long, hard work days. When the men got done with work, they would go to an old baseball field
and have fun and connect playing baseball. Although the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These similarities are not only the topic, but also the uses of sound devices, figurative language, and
imagery. Both the poem and the song are centered around baseball. They both mention former
baseball legends, but Glory uses them to describe the ethnicity, while Centerfield uses the names to
add some context to the song. Both use sound devices such as consonance. In Glory an example of a
consonance is Working knockout shifts daybreak (2) and in Centerfield Don t say it ain t so, you know
the time is now (15). While Glory focuses more on the players and fans, Centerfield focuses more on
the game itself. In Glory it centers in on the players and their agile nature and the way they play the
game. It depicts the fans cheering them on and the umpires dancing about calling strikes on batters.
Centerfield is more about the writer playing the game and competing to play the position, centerfield.
Another difference between the two is the context in which the game is being played. The young men
in Glory had just gotten done with a long, hard day of work and use the game as an escape from all of
that work. It helps them stay motivated for the week and live life in a better state of mind. Centerfield
is not as much as an escape for the writer, but more as a game that he has known and loved. He is
trying to convince his coach to put him in centerfield, and he feels that he has proven himself to be

Love In Mrs Dalloway
In her own writing on the novel Mrs Dalloway, Virginia Woolf stated, I want to give life and death,
sanity and insanity; I want to criticize the social system, and to show it at work at its most intense... In
this essay, I shall use this quote as a means to examine the theme of love and solitude in one of her
most famous novels which follows a set of characters that go about their day. Virginia Wolf was able
to illustrate the isolation one experiences within its own mind and the importance of one s soul and
ways in which souls connect through different memories and events. Even though independency is
highly valued, the inability for people to communicate and build meaningful relationships is the most
important aspect in the novel.

Essay On Lysergic Acid Diethylamide
Lysergic acid diethylamide, more commonly known as LSD, is a hallucinogenic drug that affects and
alters mood, feeling, perception and causes visual distortions. It is colorless, odorless and has no taste;
ingestion of only 25 micrograms is enough to initiate the effects on the brain. LSD and other
hallucinogenic like drugs have both long term and short term effects on both the brain and body;
experiences vary and are extremely unpredictable from case to case. It takes about 30 minutes for one

Darwin argued that those individuals that are well suited to their environment survive, prosper and
give birth to new individuals that share their characteristics, while those less suited will die out. Any
new characteristics with which an individual is born are likely to be passed on if it is useful. Species
evolve and develop in a process that is not random, or determined by God, but instead follows natural
laws (Towns). The theory of evolution contradicted fundamental Christian beliefs about humanity and
sin. In 1871, Darwin published the Descent of Man, in which he argued that human beings evolved
naturally from lower creatures stating that not only does life itself follow natural laws but also the
human mind and soul are not some supernatural element breathed into the body by God. By
eliminating God, Darwin was saying that they evolved from nothing thus eliminating the most
important element, God. (Hill). The theory of evolution denied the direct creation of man by God and
the greatest damage came from the application of that theory to the development of religion.

purebreds together to create a hybrid breed like the Labradoodle, which is a cross between a Labrador
retriever and a poodle. This option adds variety to the gene pool while also keeping some traits from
both breeds. This option, like any, is not 100% effective because dog breeds can have common health
problems. If dogs are bred after doing research on the common health problems, it can result in a
healthy mixed breed with a more diverse gene pool. While there is no certain way to get rid of all
health problems associated with inbreeding, other than to stop putting value on purebreds altogether
and moving toward mutts, steps to prevent further inbreeding must be taken to improve the quality of
life for future generations of purebred

U.s. Army Tactical Mobility Requirements Board Essay
1. In 1961, Secretary of Defence Robert S. McNamara sent a strongly worded memo to Army
Secretary Elvis J. Stahr. He ordered the Army, through the Chief of Staff of the Army, to implement air
mobility. This proved to be the birthright of the airmobile division and the eventual evolution of a new
doctrine of air combat.
2. The Howze Board, formally called the U.S. Army Tactical Mobility Requirements Board, was
formed a week after the above memo from the Secretary of Defence and was headed by Lieutenant
General Hamilton H. Howze.
3. The Howze Board was in operation from May through August 1962.
4. The main purpose of the board was to free the ground soldiers from the restrictions of battlefield
movement by replacing conventional ground transportation with aircraft.
5. The board came up with a proposal that consisted of what was referred to as an Army Reorganized
Airmobile Division (RAID), coupled with a corps task force, which resembled a small mobile field
army and was supported by a special support brigade.
6. Their recommended divisional organization was that the Army would form only two airmobile
divisions: the 1st Cavalry (Airmobile), an outgrowth of the 11th Air Assault Division in July 1965.
7. The second airmobile division, 101st Airborne Division was formed three years later.
8. July 1965, the 11th Air Assault Division was designated the 1st Cavalry Division (Airmobile).
9. Personnel and equipment from the inactivated 2d Infantry Division and the 11th Air Assault

Annotated Bibliography On Digital Libraries
I. INTRODUCTION The rapid increase in the volume of digital libraries due to cell phones, web
cameras and digital cameras etc, needs and expert system to have the effective retrieval of similar
images for the given query image [1]. CBIR system is one of such experts systems that highly rely on
appropriate extraction of features and similarity measures used for retrieval [10]. The area has gained
wide range of attention from researchers to investigate various adopted methodologies, their
drawbacks, research scope, etc [2 5, 14 18]. This domain became complex because of the
diversification of the image contents and also made interesting. [10]. The recent development ensures
the popularity of CBIR, since it has been applied in many real world applications such as life sciences,
environmental and health care, digital libraries and social media such as facebook, youtube, etc. CBIR
understands and analyzes the visual content of the images [20]. It represents an image using the
renowned visual information such as color, texture, shape, etc [11, 12]. These are often referred as
basic features of the image, which undergoes lot of variations according to the need and specifications
of the image [7 9]. Since the image acquisition varies with respect to illumination, angle of
acquisition, depth, etc, it is a challenging task to define a best limited set of features to describe the
entire image library. Similarity measure is another processing stage that defines the performance of

Ampicillin In Bacteriophage Experiment
We have shown that bacteriophage lambda can be cloned and amplified, ligated and transformed, and
inserted successfully into bacterial cloning vector pUC18. The results from the experiments above can
be used not only to clone known genes, but also to discover unknown genes that have potential in
medicine and gene therapy.
Control 4 is a positive control, and is set as an example of whether or not the digestion of pUC18 had
been successful. Controls 5 and 6 illustrates whether the ligation reactions were successful during the
experiment. Control 7 is a negative control, and illustrates whether the ampicillin in the agar solution
was working.
Reactions 1 3 were set up to locate the optimum ratio of bacteriophage insert DNA to create the most

coli cells. Removal of all or part of the non essential region, between positions 20 35 using restriction
enzyme HindIII decreases the size of the resulting molecule by up to 15 kb (Brown, 2006). Since
during this experiment that bacteriophage DNA molecule wasn t modified not all fragments were
recovered equally, therefore the transformation efficiency is decreased.
The experiment completed needs to be improved as according to previous studies, figure 1, has been
performed incorrectly either through operator error in multiple stages of the experiment, or an
unknown error. Lane 5 was incorrect as according to figure 3, obtained from group 32 results, two
distinct bars are meant to be apparent at 4,500 bp and 1000 bp. The data could be improved by
performing the experiment a second time to ensure that all results are correct and no human error has
occurred.
Another improvement that can aid in the accuracy of the experiment would be to use combinational
cloning, a less complex and involved technique for efficient cloning of different vectors with various
clone sites (Zhang and Tandon, 2013). The technique uses originally existing clone sites from circular
plasmids to prepare the inserts to achieve maximal correct digestion of the inserts (Zhang and Tandon,

Write An Essay On Water Erosion
Water Erosion
Background
Erosion is the wearing away of sand soil or rock by water, or wind. Water erosion is the separation and
removal of soil. Water erosion occurs by rain carrying away bits of soil and slowly washing away rock
fragments (Society). Rushing streams and rivers wear away their banks, creating larger and larger
valleys. Water erosion can occur on streams, river banks, sea shores and seaside cliffs. There are also
different types of water erosion like sheet erosion. Sheet erosion is when water washes away soil from
the surface. Another type of water erosion is splash erosion. Splash erosion is the movement of soil by
a water droplet. Water erosion occurs more frequently in the spring because it rains more, the rain then
washes away rock fragments. An example of water erosion is the colorado river. It cut deep into the
land and formed the grand canyon.
Purpose
The purpose of this experiment is to examine the impact of water erosion on soil due to splash erosion.
Hypothesis
If the height of the water increases then the amount of soil erosion will increase because the speed of
the water will create more pressure on the soil causing the soil to move further.
Procedure
Get a 600mL beaker and measure out 500mL of soil
Grab a tray and place the soil on the tray. Flip the beaker upside down on the tray and remove the
beaker so that there is a pile of dirt on the tray.
Measure the height of the dirt. It should be 2 inches tall.
Grab a 250 mL graduated cylinder

Using Geert Hofstede Six Dimension s of Cultures, I ll compare and contrast the differences between China and the United States on how they impact work relationships. The first dimension s of cultures in Geert Hofstede is Power Distance. This dimension deals with the fact that all individuals in societies are not equal it expresses the attitude of the cultures towards these inequalities amongst us (Hofstede, 2017). With millions of people living poverty, Australia s wealthy continue to accumulate wealth, whereas the poor continue to become poorer. With the economic inequality in Australia rising, the Australian government is contributing to this by creating new policies within the budget, making those who are disadvantaged already worse off. Rather than creating policies that make the wealthy even wealthier, the government should be reducing the burden on those who actually have substantial burdens already. This means that those who are already well off, are getting advances that make them wealthier and those who are struggling are only getting small advances that determine whether they can put food on the table and provide for their families. An example of a struggling Australian dealing with the economic inequality posed against him is Duncan Storrar. Storrar appeared on a popular political show on the ABC, Q A and posed a question to the panel. I have a disability and limited education. I ve been a low income earner my whole life and as such I pay a larger percentage of my income in taxes than the average Australian. Lifting my tax free threshold would change mine and my children s life. How come rich people get a lift in their threshold? It means nothing to them but to me it would mean my kids hear something else apart from sorry girls, daddy is broke (Storrar, 2016). Duncan is just one example of how he economic inequality in Australia affects its citizens. The government of Australia highly impacts the economic inequality in Australia with doing things such as bringing in polices and aiming the budget at certain demographics. After the highly anticipated budget release of 2016, the government told Australians of the major budget measures that were going to affect them. This included a raise of the tax bracket for middle income earners, redefining it as $87,000 rather than the current $80,000. Currently, the bracket is for those who earn $37,001 $80,000. Tax ... • 10. Sidney Love Sonnet Valuing Power During the Elizabethan Era, the English thrived in the ways of culture. Literature, poetry, theater, and music all saw tremendous advancement. Love sonnets became particularly popular due to the opportunity they offered their authors to express their most alluring desires, while sticking to the strict guidelines of a sonnet. One particular 16th century writer, Sir Philip Sidney, wrote love sonnets that followed the relationship of the desire ridden Astrophil and the object of his affection, Stella. Poetry at this time often had political or religious influences, and Sidney s work was no exception. Focusing specifically on Sonnet 69, Sidney metaphorically relates a personal experience to a political gain, suggesting that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There was constant speculation over whether or not a woman was fit to rule, so a man no doubt would have stolen not only her power, but the people s respect as well. In order to understand the political agenda present in the sonnet, one must notice the power Elizabeth I would have lost with a marriage, versus the power that Astrophil figuratively gained through obtaining Stella s love. In order for suitors to gain power from either woman, the women had to have had power for them to acquire. Similar to Queen Elizabeth, Stella is portrayed as a woman of power and appears to be highly sought after. Her love was an indescribably, wonderful prize to the speaker, just as Queen Elizabeth s hand in marriage would have been quite an accomplishment for any nobleman. Words such as nobler , kings , covenants , and monarchs are all present in the poem, not only alluding to the political agenda present in the work, but possibly Stella s societal position. Elizabeth I was showered with ravishing gifts and compliments routinely by her courtiers. These men of her court sought to woo and impress the unattainable queen. This need to grasp the queen s attention also pertains to the relationship between writing love sonnets and court politics as a whole under Queen Elizabeth. The frustration that follows loving someone and that love not being reciprocated was a vital aspect of much of the love poetry at the time. This popular ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Beginning at an elevation of thirty three feet above sea level, Armstrong was in sixteenth position with five minutes and fifty four seconds separating him and the leader. For many this would be an insurmountable amount of time to makeup, especially on a stage containing such a grueling and exhausting climb, but Armstrong saw it as an opportunity to put his great mountain climbing skills to work (Stein 60). After a punishing climb of 4,954 feet over one hundred twenty seven miles, Armstrong finished Stage 10 with an overall first place. Creating a four minute and fourteen second margin between him and the previous leader, Armstrong had gained a total of more than ten minutes during the most grueling stage throughout the entire Tour de France (Stein 60). He then raced through the remaining stages with great momentum and victoriously broke across the finish line on July 23, 2000 for the second consecutive time since his diagnosis of cancer (Sterling 2; Armstrong, Lance ). This accomplishment would be remarkable for anyone, but for a cancer survivor to attain such a feat is extraordinary. Lance Armstrong is indeed an extraordinary human being. He has achieved tremendous heights not only in the highly competitive world of cycling but also in common, everyday life. Biofilms Microorganisms, like most other species on this planet, are also well acquainted with the benefits of joining hands together as a single community. Sometimes, in response to various factors, a biofilm may be formed. A biofilm is a community of bacterial cells, enclosed within a self produced matrix of Extracellular Polymeric Substance (EPS)1. In simpler terms, it means that bacteria can join together on a surface, living or non living, and form a protective matrix around the entire group. This matrix is generally composed of extracellular DNA, polysaccharides and proteins. Also, the microbial cells growing in a biofilm undergo physiological changes, as a result of which they are different from planktonic cells of the same organism (single cells that may float around in a liquid medium). Formation of biofilms offers the microorganisms various advantages; it enables transfer and sharing of genetic material, metabolic by products, it also provides shelter during environmental changes, offers an increased tolerance to antimicrobials and also protection from the immune system of the host organism. Clearly, biofilms are well equipped to cause diseases in various organisms. The microbes attach themselves to surfaces, initially using weak Vander Waal s forces. • 19. Overpopulation Is A Global Catastrophe Naturally, as our population grows in size our growth rate increases exponentially. As a result, we face the issue of overpopulation, one of the many dangerous trends discussed in Anthony Barnosky and Elizabeth Hadly s Tipping Point for Planet Earth. Currently, if we do not make any changes, it is expected that we will reach a population size over twenty seven billion people by the year 2100. Along with this massive increase in population size, we will also face a rise in food and water shortages, an increase in population density, and an overall loss of quality of life. In order to prevent these potential effects, Barnosky and Hadly suggested three possible solutions to combating overpopulation a global catastrophe, a one child policy, or an increase in education, job, and contraception availability among girls. Any one of these solutions will potentially help us prevent overpopulation; however, exactly which solution it ends up being all depends on our preparation and the actions we take now. Ideally, we would like to avoid a global catastrophe that would decimate the population. But, if we are unable to lower our growth rate another world war, or something like a pandemic could occur. While no correlation between population density and nation level conflict has been made, the connection between overcrowding and increased internal conflict has been (Tir 1998). The three important signs to initially address and understand the science behind are perivasculitis, retinal vascular sheathing and retinal hemorrhages. All three medical definitions appear straightforward and all very similar, but the combination of the three leads to a serious diagnosis and urgency for this patient. Perivasculitis is an inflammation of a sheath surrounding the tissue 1. In class we discussed the differences between perivasculitis and periflabitis. Perivasculitis should be white because of the inflammation and the white blood cells then spilling out. The Prefix peri means around, or on the outside of the tissue. Retinal vascular sheathing is sheathing or cuffing of blood vessels and vitreous cells . The swelling or cuffing of blood vessels in the retinal layer is a serious condition and is often associated with vasculitis. Finally, a retinal hemorrhage is abnormal bleeding of the vessels in the retina 2. Retinal hemorrhages can be caused for a variety of reasons such as injuries like forceful blows or accidents and falls, as well as adverse health conditions. Shakespeare presents the character of Shylock as a flesh eating, greedy and obsessive character in his play merchant of Venice ; by doing this Shakespeare manipulates the response Shylock gets from the audience in Act 4 Scene 1. Our response is manipulated by S. so most of the audience, by the end of the play, feel none or very little sympathy towards the character of Shylock. The audience see the side of Shylock, who is driven by the desire for revenge. At the start of the play Shylock says in his soliloquy If I can catch him once upon the hip this shows his crave to catch Antonio out, it also shows that all Shylock wants is the upper hand; to have power over Antonio. In that same speech he also says feed fat the ancient grudge indicating that he will feed fat of Antonio as a way of revenge and this will be the only thing that satisfies him to the full. Shakespeare uses alliteration in this speech, which makes it more memorable for the audience so they can remember the thoughts of Shylock. S. also associates Shylock with cannibalism, it gives the audience a clear indication that Shylock s aim is to Kill Antonio. Therefore when Shylock is stripped from his chance of revenge, the audience may not feel sympathy for him as they know that is intention was to kill Antonio, and he had a clear motive for it. Since the tough on crime movement that began to emphasize more punishment and creating new policies such as; three strikes law, truth in sentencing laws, mandatory sentencing, and determinate sentencing, our prisons and jails have become overcrowded. The three strikes law increases the prison sentence of an offender convicted of three felonies or serious crime. Usually the punishment ranges from a minimum of 25 years to life in prison. The truth in sentencing laws require the offender to serve a substantial amount of their prison sentence (usually around 85 percent) before they are eligible for release on parole. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They believe that since it is the woman s body, it is her choice. In the pro choice argument, the group says it is safer for teens to have an abortion than to give birth because teens are not yet completely developed to have a baby. Teenage girls are not ready to physically give birth to their child. Their bodies need to mature before being able to give birth to a baby safely (Durrett, 18). Raising a baby is too hard for teens because they often are not yet prepared. Teenage girls, still have an education to finish and a future to plan. They are not financially prepared to have a baby and will rely too much on parents or guardians. When an abortion has failed or even thought about, there will be hurt. Pro choice supporters believe unhealthy relationships will occur between mother and child because of being unwanted. The baby will feel unloved and worthless and that will be key for the relationship going down the gutter. There will be too much conflict for both of them to handle and this will cause a terrible life for both the child and mother. They believe there should be no debate over what someone else should do with their own body. Another difference is whether the fetus is a baby. Pro choice say the fetus is not a person yet, therefore it is not murder. A baby is a person when it takes its first breath outside of the womb. Much like poems, songs have very many types and genres and different meanings. Glory , a poem by Yusef Komunyakaa, and Centerfield , a song by John Fogerty, are very similar to each other. Both poems and songs use poetic language such as figurative language and sound devices. These help the poem or song flow better, sound more interesting, and keep the readers or listeners attention. Glory is a poem about young men who use baseball as an escape from their long, hard work days. When the men got done with work, they would go to an old baseball field and have fun and connect playing baseball. Although the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These similarities are not only the topic, but also the uses of sound devices, figurative language, and imagery. Both the poem and the song are centered around baseball. They both mention former baseball legends, but Glory uses them to describe the ethnicity, while Centerfield uses the names to add some context to the song. Both use sound devices such as consonance. In Glory an example of a consonance is Working knockout shifts daybreak (2) and in Centerfield Don t say it ain t so, you know the time is now (15). While Glory focuses more on the players and fans, Centerfield focuses more on the game itself. In Glory it centers in on the players and their agile nature and the way they play the game. It depicts the fans cheering them on and the umpires dancing about calling strikes on batters. Centerfield is more about the writer playing the game and competing to play the position, centerfield. Another difference between the two is the context in which the game is being played. The young men in Glory had just gotten done with a long, hard day of work and use the game as an escape from all of that work. It helps them stay motivated for the week and live life in a better state of mind. Centerfield is not as much as an escape for the writer, but more as a game that he has known and loved. • 31. Love In Mrs Dalloway In her own writing on the novel Mrs Dalloway, Virginia Woolf stated, I want to give life and death, sanity and insanity; I want to criticize the social system, and to show it at work at its most intense... In this essay, I shall use this quote as a means to examine the theme of love and solitude in one of her most famous novels which follows a set of characters that go about their day. Virginia Wolf was able to illustrate the isolation one experiences within its own mind and the importance of one s soul and ways in which souls connect through different memories and events. Even though independency is highly valued, the inability for people to communicate and build meaningful relationships is the most important aspect in the novel. Prior ... It is evident that Peter never actually managed to have that kind of connection with her; he just had an influence on her without being able to break those boundaries she set up in her mind. Furthermore, Peter believed that by marrying Richard she lost her identity as she was now „the perfect hostess (Woolf 6) which organizes parties in order to compensate for her lack of self . Peter is too self centred in order to be a good husband to Clarissa. In his dream he imagines and objectifies women and then wishes to be saved by them but the traveller in the dream eventually realizes he has nobody there to share his difficulties with. In addition, Clarissa s isolation can also be connected to her rejection of religion. Essay On Lysergic Acid Diethylamide Lysergic acid diethylamide, more commonly known as LSD, is a hallucinogenic drug that affects and alters mood, feeling, perception and causes visual distortions. It is colorless, odorless and has no taste; ingestion of only 25 micrograms is enough to initiate the effects on the brain. LSD and other hallucinogenic like drugs have both long term and short term effects on both the brain and body; experiences vary and are extremely unpredictable from case to case. It takes about 30 minutes for one to begin feeling the reactions to the drug, effects can generally last up to 12 hours. A common phrase one might hear is a bad trip which can cause intense fear, anxiety, frightening thoughts and unnerving visions. LSD works with the brain s chemical messengers, the serotonin receptors, as well as heightens the user s prefrontal cortex, which controls impulses and personality development. These drugs also have potential to be more than just a recreationally used, illicit substance; doctors have gone forth and produced as much research as they can and shown that LSD and ... The theory of evolution contradicted fundamental Christian beliefs about humanity and sin. In 1871, Darwin published the Descent of Man, in which he argued that human beings evolved naturally from lower creatures stating that not only does life itself follow natural laws but also the human mind and soul are not some supernatural element breathed into the body by God. By eliminating God, Darwin was saying that they evolved from nothing thus eliminating the most important element, God. (Hill). This option adds variety to the gene pool while also keeping some traits from both breeds. This option, like any, is not 100% effective because dog breeds can have common health problems. This proved to be the birthright of the airmobile division and the eventual evolution of a new doctrine of air combat. 2. The Howze Board, formally called the U.S. Army Tactical Mobility Requirements Board, was formed a week after the above memo from the Secretary of Defence and was headed by Lieutenant General Hamilton H. Howze. 3. The Howze Board was in operation from May through August 1962. 4. The main purpose of the board was to free the ground soldiers from the restrictions of battlefield movement by replacing conventional ground transportation with aircraft. 5. The board came up with a proposal that consisted of what was referred to as an Army Reorganized Airmobile Division (RAID), coupled with a corps task force, which resembled a small mobile field army and was supported by a special support brigade. 6. INTRODUCTION The rapid increase in the volume of digital libraries due to cell phones, web cameras and digital cameras etc, needs and expert system to have the effective retrieval of similar images for the given query image [1]. CBIR system is one of such experts systems that highly rely on appropriate extraction of features and similarity measures used for retrieval [10]. The area has gained wide range of attention from researchers to investigate various adopted methodologies, their drawbacks, research scope, etc [2 5, 14 18]. This domain became complex because of the diversification of the image contents and also made interesting. [10]. The recent development ensures the popularity of CBIR, since it has been applied in many real world applications such as life sciences, environmental and health care, digital libraries and social media such as facebook, youtube, etc. CBIR understands and analyzes the visual content of the images [20]. It represents an image using the renowned visual information such as color, texture, shape, etc [11, 12]. These are often referred as basic features of the image, which undergoes lot of variations according to the need and specifications of the image [7 9]. • 46. Write An Essay On Water Erosion Water Erosion Background Erosion is the wearing away of sand soil or rock by water, or wind. Water erosion is the separation and removal of soil. Water erosion occurs by rain carrying away bits of soil and slowly washing away rock fragments (Society). Rushing streams and rivers wear away their banks, creating larger and larger valleys. Water erosion can occur on streams, river banks, sea shores and seaside cliffs. There are also different types of water erosion like sheet erosion. Sheet erosion is when water washes away soil from the surface. Another type of water erosion is splash erosion. Splash erosion is the movement of soil by a water droplet. Water erosion occurs more frequently in the spring because it rains more, the rain then washes away rock fragments. An example of water erosion is the colorado river. It cut deep into the land and formed the grand canyon. Purpose The purpose of this experiment is to examine the impact of water erosion on soil due to splash erosion. Hypothesis If the height of the water increases then the amount of soil erosion will increase because the speed of the water will create more pressure on the soil causing the soil to move further. Procedure Get a 600mL beaker and measure out 500mL of soil Grab a tray and place the soil on the tray.
