Dantes Inferno Research Paper
Dante Alighieri born on June 1, 1265 in Florence, Italy. Dante is a Italian poet and philosopher.
He was born in a family that was a part of the political scene in Florence. His mother died a few
years after he was born. He went to study at the University of Bologna which was one of the most
famous universities in the medieval world. While he was there, one of the most famous scholars at
that advised and encouraged Dante. His name was Brunetto Latini. He appears in Inferno. Only at
twelve years old, Dante was to marry a girl named Gemma Donati. They both married but what the
problem was that Dante loved another woman. Her name was Beatrice Portinari. Dante s father was
very disappointed in his son because he chose this girl to marry his son... Show more content on

He has been compared to the most famous poet ever, Shakespeare. He has been said to be the
only writer to be in the same class as him. Some people believe that Dante s Divine Comedy is
better than some of Shakespeare s work. Dante s Divine Comedy is still one of the best works of
literature after 650 years. The work of art is a major part of The Western Canon. The Western
Canon is a collection of the greatest books in history.
Dante died in 1321 while traveling to Venice. What most people think was that he caught a
disease like malaria because this was spreading throughout the medieval ages. He was buried in
the Church of San Pier in Ravenna, Italy. Soon after he was buried, Florence argued that the poet s
body should return to the city that he was born in. Today, Dante s body is in Ravenna even though
Florence stills argues that he should be in the city that he was

Essay on Escalation of Violence
The dramatic escalation of violence committed by and against people is shocking (Eron et al.,
1994). Although according to Federal Bureau of Investigation, the murder rate in the year 2009
dropped almost 7.2 percent in comparison of the murder rate of 2008. Similarly crime rate of
crimes like rape and assault had been decreased up to 4.2 percent each and crime rates of robbery
and burglary fell by 1.7 percent and 4.2 percent respectively (Federal Bureau of Investigation, 2009)
but still the violenceamong the youth has increased sharply.
There is no simple explanation for the presence of aggression, nor is there any obvious, easy way to
reduce it. The fundamental basis of violence is absolutely clear: the human capacity for aggression.

Such cues can have very strong affects, increasing aggression among people who are in a neutral
mood as well as among those who have been angered by provocation.
Is Violence Learned?
Violent behavior is strongly affected by learning. Rewards obtained by aggression today increase
its use tomorrow. Such rewards come in two flavors:
Positive Reinforcement: when desired outcome are obtained
Negative Reinforcement: when undesirable outcomes are prevented or stopped
Based on this approach Albert Bandura presented psychological social learning theory. It
emphasizes that we learn from the example of others as well as from direct experience with
rewards and punishments. Models influence the prosocial, helpful behavior. They also affect
antisocial, aggressive behavior. Research has amply demonstrated that a wide range of aggressive
models can elicit a wide range of aggressive imitation.
The impact of adult R rated, sexually violent material on sexually related attitudes and beliefs was
investigated in a field study that arranged for 115 college students to attend movies at campus
theatres (Malamuth and Check, 1981). Half of these students saw the commercially successful
movies Swept away and The Gateway, both of which depict women who become sexually aroused
by a sexual assault and romantically attracted to their assailant. The other half watched feature
length movies without sexually

Essay On American Horses
Horses, Beautiful Companions of both people of Australia s, and
America s past, present and future. Both Australia and America use horses for companionship,
labor, and consumption. But their history and view are different as much as they are the same.
Where wild horses in America are called Mustangs, and in Australia they are called Brumbies.
Throughout most of America s history, there has been a horse. Whether they were involved in

Australia, horses are used for labor such as farming, or herding. It is, estimated that over 400,000
brumbies live in Australia, which is why they are herded up and removed. Some are domesticated
for human use, and others are shipped off. Brumbies often are hit by oncoming traffic, since the
horses often roam through the city. The Australian horses are said to have exploded out of control.

The Effects Of Single Parent Home Research
For several years, the focus of much single parent home research has been concentrated on
households where the father is not present. Due to the prevalent influence of various
psychoanalytical theories, and the enormous amounts of female headed households. Research
shows that there are six general effects bestowed upon children who live in single parenthomes;
regardless of the reason for the single parent status. The six general effects are:
Loss of concentration or attention
Delinquency and substance abuse
Withdraw from family and friends
A decline in academic scores and behavioral issues at school, and at home
Emotional outbursts, and often an increase in health issues
Severe anger issues (Hurtes, 2004).
These are just the general effects on some children being raised in a single parent home. In
addition to these general effects, there are more age specific effects on some children who live in
single parent homes. The following is a brief summarization of some effects which children of
different age ranges may experience while living in a single parent home.
For children ages 3 5 years of age:
Regression to more infant like behavior
Feeling frightened, insecure, and angry

Some may experience nightmares, excessive or uncontrollable crying, and separation anxiety
Changes in their eating or sleeping habits.
For children ages 6 8 years of age:

Ventricular Tachycardia Lab
Ventricular Tachycardia
An dysrhythmia of the heart is an irregular heartbeat rhythm. Ventricular tachycardia is an
dysrhythmia in which the lower chambers of the heart, the ventricles, beat unusually fast.
The heart rate is measured with an electrocardiogram, or ECG. This is a machine that measures the
electrical impulses from the patient s heart. This is displayed on a monitor or ECG graph paper. The
boxes on the graph paper measure time. Five small boxes are equal to one large box. The large
box represents two tenths of a second.
The atrial contraction is represented by the P wave. This is an upward, or positive wave of the line
on the graph. The ventricular contraction is displayed by the QRS complex. The QRS ... Show more

The SA node is the primary pacemaker of the heart. It starts the heartbeat by spontaneously
contracting, causing the rest of the heart to contract in a wave.
The wave spreads through the atria before reaching the atrioventricular node, or AV node, located
just above the right ventricle. The AV node focuses the wave into the ventricles, contracting the
ventricles. Should the SA node fail, the AV node can take over as the primary pacemaker at a rate
of forty to sixty beats per minute.
Should both the SA node and the AV node fail, there is a tertiary pacemaker, the perkinje fibers.
Perkinje fibers are located near the bottom of the ventricles and can stimulate contraction at a rate
of twenty to forty beats per minute.
If the perkinje fibers or the AV node becomes irritated, they can begin contraction of the ventricles
at speeds well above normal. Other causes of ventricular tachycardia include heart disease and
medications.
When the ventricles are contracting at a rate greater than one hundred beats per minute, the heart
becomes inefficient. Blood cannot properly fill the ventricular chambers before it is forced out.
This decreases the amount of oxygenated blood circulating through the body.
The lack of oxygen in the body causes the heart to attempt to pump more blood, forcing the
ventricles to work even harder. Should the

Rejection In Edward Scissorhands
Life is not always fair. Many times people have been turned down, had the door slammed in their
faces or have been told, No . But it is this rejection that helps people get back on their feet.
Sometimes it is this rejection that builds strength and character in the person. In the movie
Edward Scissorhands, Tim Burton (the director) has shown that rejection affects everyone, but
it can help to make some people stronger and brings out a side of the person that wasn t there
before. People are rejected every day, sometimes based purely on how they look or act. In today s
society, it is quite common for people to be refused, if they decide to be different. In Edward
Scissorhands Edward is looked at as though he is a monster because of the fact

The Different Types Of Initiation Strategies
This review of literature examine the different types of initiation strategies implemented among
individuals to determine which ones were used across genders and which ones were most
successful. More specifically the connection between Sociosexuality and nonverbal behavior and
relationship beliefs that determine relationship initiationsuccess. Lastly, it analyzes variables that
include the person s self esteem and reception received during the initiation.
Sociosexuality and Nonverbal Behaviors Individuals sometimes desire commitment and closeness
before engaging in sexual intimacy. According to Simpson, Gangestad and Biek (1993), restricted
individuals are the ones who require intimacy before sex, where unrestricted are the opposite. In
both cases nonverbal behavior were important to relationship initiation, but not as much as those
who were classified as restricted (Simpson et al., 1993). They also observed that women scored
higher than men for non verbal behaviors used in initiation. (Simpson et al., 1993). Even though
men were almost equally likely to lean forward, laugh, downward gaze, and demonstrate open body
posture when initiating nonverbal behaviors (Simpson et al., 1993). As expected, women still
managed to depict more intimacy then men did. Findings showed that men and women who vary
on unrestricted and restricted traits perform nonverbally in a laboratory setting (Simpson et al.,
1993). Similarly, Vannier and O Sullivan (2011), who also studied nonverbal

A behavioral interview was conducted, and the client was asked about her history of the flossing
(P. 50). This was to determine if flossing was a behavior that needed to be changed. During the
first reinforcer preference assessment the client was asked questions of what activities she

she preferred: 1. Hiking, 2. Watching T.V shows, 3. Watching movies, 4. Hanging out with friends

have you seen the participant floss her teeth during the week of October 2 9, 2016? The answer

Secrets and Style of Sir Poe Gothic fiction is the strange, dark, spooky, and supernatural writing
style loved by readers of all ages. Most of the stories written in the Gothic style were centered in
the gothic medieval period. Several renowned books like The Phantom of the Opera by Gaston
Leroux and The Hunchback of Notre Dame by Victor Hugo were written in this style. Edgar Allan
Poe was one well known Gothic writer and poet from the early eighteen hundreds; he was
especially famous for his tales of mystery and macabre. A popular dark short story, The Tell Tale

Therefore, the metaphors used by Poe supports the sinister mood of the short story and poem.
Diction, or word choice, is also used in The Tell Tale Heart and The Raven to indirectly
characterize the narrator and speaker. The narrator of The Tell Tale Heart, upon spying the
vulture eye of the old man, depicts it as all a dull blue, with a hideous veil over [the eye] that
chilled the very marrow in [his] bones (Poe 355). Through using the word hideous and the
phrase chilled the very marrow in [his] bones , the narrator blatantly reveals his wariness
towards the old man s eye. The narrator feels threatened by the eye, which indirectly
characterizes him as insane because it is unnatural for people to feel terrorized by appearance.
Additionally, the speaker in The Raven claims that while he dreams about Lenore in the
presence of the raven, the air [grows] denser, perfumed from an unseen censer / Swung by
Seraphim whose footfalls tinkled on the tufted floor (Poe 79, 80). Censer and Seraphim are two
words that express the speaker s longing for Lenore, as a censer is a covered incense burner
usually used in funerals, and Seraphim is an order of angels from Heaven. The reference to angels
and funerals indirectly characterizes the speaker as

The External Environment Of Heineken
External environment
According to research (In home drinking, UK, June 2009), there is a decline in demand for beer.
As people are stimulated to have a healthier lifestyle, demand for beer has slightly dropped. As
supply remains constant and demand drops, chances are Heineken gets stuck with superfluous
inventory. Furthermore, in the UK in 2008 alone, tax on beer has been increased by 18%,
discouraging people to consume beer. This rapid change in environment did not get any response
from Heineken. As tax increased by 18%, Heineken raised its prices by 18% (or more) as well, as
did their competitors. After all, profit margins still have to be kept by every profit organisation.

In organisational structure, the culture part refers to a system of shared meaning within an
organisation, as is explained by Robbins and Barnwell.
Heineken claims that its culture is based on four fundamental principles: respect, passion, code of
business conduct and enjoy responsibly. These principles confer high values to the firm, as it acts
in a sustainable way and tries to create the maximum value for the customers. However, these
principles are given by the company itself, thus cannot be entirely reliable as it tries to promote
itself. It is not possible to identify the full truth about Heineken s culture, because the company has
never been involved in any major scandal.
Another interesting feature of Heinekens internal environment can be found in the annual report of
Heineken, which makes clear that the majority of permanent contracts is held by men; the number
of men with a permanent contract is 53,679, whereas only 12,649 women have a permanent
contract at Heineken. This fact shows that the company is predominately masculine (, but it may be
important to note that almost half of the directors on the board of directors are female). However
the company should try to overcome this discrepancy, in order to prevent any accuses of Heineken

The Environmental Effect Of A Gas Refinery
Introduction: In this lab, the students will be testing waters to see what difference each compound
will make. It is needed to know how certain pH levels have different affects in order to understand
other possible affects. Nitrate, phosphate, and oxygen will all have an affect on freshwaters within
ecosystems. Also, the environmental effect that a petroleum refinery has around us to show why it

Literature Review:
Before even going into the review first it is needed to know, what is pH or what does it even mean?
It is a measure of the hydrogen ion concentration of a solution, high concentration of hydrogen
ions and has a low pH ( What is pH? n.d.). Solutions with low concentrations of hydrogen ions
have a high pH. Rain has a pH of 5.6. Main pollutants are responsible for this or acid depositions
are sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides. Possible affects are for one, when pH approaches five,
non desirable species of plankton and mosses may begin to invade, and population of bass will
disappear. Second when the pH is below a five, fish populations again will begin to disappear, the
bottom is covered with un decayed material, and mosses may dominate near shore areas. The third
affect is when below 4.5 water is devoid of fish. Fourth, aluminum ions attached to minerals in
nearby soil can be released into lakes, killing fish, and stimulating excessive mucus formation.
Finally, most chronic effects of increased acidity in water is interference with

An Introduction To A Vapor Cloud Explosion
An Analysis of a Vapor Cloud Explosion
Introduction
Flammable gasses can be very dangerous mostly when it comes to highly volatile products. This is
because they can evaporate at very low temperatures, may be room temperature and due to their
low energy of activation to react. Highly volatile products are that dangerous because they cannot
be seen, can evaporate any single moment regardless of the size of leakage, they spread very fast
among many other risks. This was the case at one of the manufacturing plants in Massachusetts,
Arnel chemical plant. The plant was responsible for manufacturing printer paints On November 21,

Media s Goals For The Future
Throughout history, humans have possessed an intrinsic desire to communicate with one another.
Traditionally, communication occurred in the form of face to face contact, body language, or via
written messages sent from one to another. However, the invention of one particular form of
communication, mass communication, has changed the way some messages are sent and received.
Mass communication is defined as, the industrialized production and multiple distribution of
messages through technological devices, and has allowed for the rise of mass mediaoutlets, or

Introduction. Background Of Scotland’S Union With The Uk.
Introduction Background of Scotland s Union with The UK The debate on Scottish independence
has been going on for centuries, and has continued long after Scotland joined the United Kingdom
in 1707. Suspicion and mistrust between England and Scotland initially prevented a union
throughout the 17th century (Johnson, 2014). The Scots had feared that they would become
irrelevant within the UK, whereas the English felt that the Scots may take sides with France and
rekindle the Auld Alliance (Gallagher, 2016). With Brexit putting Scotland s access to the Single
market at risk, there has been an intensified push for a Scottish referendum. Delving into the
reasoning behind a pro independence stance allows us to gain an understanding of... Show more

Fiscal Stance Currently, England has been using Scottish oil reserves for its own benefit . As an
energy rich country with 24 billion barrels of oil to be extracted from the North Sea (Calder,
2013), Scotland has the potential to boost economic growth with a second oil boom of between
ВЈ6.9bn 7.9bn for the first year of separation (Johnson, 2016). Oil and Gas Reserves in the North
Sea could help Scotland gain it its economic independence (The Guardian, 2015) as the
anticipation of higher oil prices is expected to provide a lucrative source of tax revenues
(Keating, 2017). However, the falling revenues disclosed by the North Sea coincide with the
sinking oil prices (Keating, 2017) at the start of 2015, portraying the volatility of such
commodities, as tax revenues from North Sea oil and gas production tend to be unstable over time.
Therefore, an economy based largely on oil would be too subject to oil s price fluctuation (The
Guardian, 2015), leaving Scotland in a more vulnerable position than it already is in. Considering
that Scotland s fiscal stance is based on an uncertain commodity market and an ambiguous hope of
joining the EU, Sturgeon s belief that a shortfall would be compensated through additional
economic growth is questionable. Potential Benefits of Independence Currency Alternatives The
Scottish Independence debate has been

Annoy People By Aisha Dachas Analysis
By Aisha Dachas Annoying people are like bugs. They re all different types of creepy, nasty, and
weird. Take a cockroach and a naked mole rat both are disgusting, but one is just more so than
the other. Ugh! My skin is crawling. That s a strange thing to say. Just imagine that your skin is

The DSM-5 Diagnostic Analysis
While the DSM 5 remains largely based on categorical nosology, the introduction acknowledges
the need for a more dimensional approach (APA, 2013). In fact, the DSM 5 task force and work
groups were instructed to consider empirically based guidelines to improve dimensional aspects of
disorder categorization such as: shared neural substrates, biomarkers, family traits, course of illness,
high comorbidity, genetic risk factors, and shared treatment response. While the DSM 5 task force
ultimately decided that it was scientifically premature to transition to a completely dimensional
diagnostic system that would have in effect changed the requirements for most disorders, the
current edition serves as a transitional guideline to new diagnostic approaches without dramatically
disrupting current clinical practice/research (APA, 2013). Dimensional approaches can be observed
throughout the DSM 5 through the consolidation of related disorders, Section III additions, and
supplemental online materials. Consolidation of Disorders. The DSM 5 contains reorganized,
consolidated, and clarified content to adhere more relevantly to clinical practice. This included the
consolidation of autism disorder, Asperger s syndrome, and pervasive developmental disorder

DSM 5 states that symptoms attributed to autism disorder, Asperger s syndrome, and PDD fall
along a single continuum of impairments across the domains of social communication and
restrictive/repetitive behaviors/interests. Rather than being considered distinct disorders,
individuals meet criteria for autism spectrum disorder (ASD) with specification of severity (mild to
severe). DSM 5 asserts that this modification serves to improve sensitivity and specificity in the
diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (APA, 2013; McPartland, Reichow, Volkmar, 2012).

The arguments without logical reasoning or invalid reasoning are called fallacious argument. In
this movie there are many situations where people have used fallacious argument, which is listed
below.
#Juror 8.He is nineteen years old.
Initially EIGHT argue that kid is only 19 years old, how could he kill his father. But this age is
enough for thinking what to do or not. We have not any reasonable logicbehind that kid can t
murder.

life. Concluding for personal work is very shameful.
#Juror 8.You do not believe the boy s story, how can you believe the woman s.
I think it is not necessary that if one story seems wrong then another will also be. If someone don t
believe on one story then it is not necessary for them to not believe on another. We can t force
another to view everything in similar way.
#Juror 3.Nobody proved otherwise
If someone blame on me that i have killed someone and i have no evidence, it means not i really
killed someone. During initial inspection of the case there was no evidence in favor of kid. Due to
that we should not assume that kid had killed his father. There may be also possibility that all the
evidences are false.

Oresteia is a script whose story goes on by recalling Orestes lost memories. The main idea which is
prevalent throughout this story is about finding the truth hidden in the acts of revenge, lies, and

Next you will see how Thoreau and Emerson are clear examples of Bright Romanticism. The
inclusion of positive view of mankind that is part of Bright Romantic poets can be found in both
Emerson and Thoreau. To start off would be Ralph Waldo Emerson. A author that echoes my
statement can be found in Guidepost written by Ptolemy Tompkins titled under The Original
Positive Thinker Ralph Waldo Emerson. America s original positive thinker, Emerson was a
tireless promoter of the basic transcendentalist idea that human beings are larger infinitely larger
than they think they are. A man, he wrote, is the facade of a temple wherein all wisdom and all
good abide. What we need to do is overcome the self imposed habits of thought that prevent us
from fully realizing this potential. Or as Emerson put it, The only sin is limitation. Emerson
showed his positive view of mankind through his ideas of anything can be change. Where nothing
is impossible where you can transcend through anything and become more. Another source of
information is found in his most famous book self reliance a book the embodies the title but a
quote that can exemplify his thoughts and writers are Be yourself; no base imitator of another, but
your best self. There is something which you can do better than another. Listen to the inward voice

Cabeza De Vaca Research Paper
Alvar Nunez Cabeza de Vaca was born in 1490 at Jerez de la Frontera in Andalusia. His parents
went by the name Francisco de Vera and Teresa Cabeza de Vaca. Cabeza de Vaca means head of
cow and was derived from a peasant ancestor. (elizabethan era.org) By 1528, he was appointed
treasurer underneath the explorer Panfilo de Narvaez which reached what is now Tampa Bay,
Floridalater in the same year. By September of that year, all of the members of the expedition
except for 60 of de Vaca s men had died near the shore of present day Galveston, Texas

Since the survivors were held by different tribes or groups they were often separated. The next
year at the time of the gathering of the tribes to eat prickly pears the four (Castillo, Dorantes,

that they met along the way aided them and helped them. They escaped at the time when the
tribes were going to pick pears, so food was not a problem at this time. (sjsu.edu). The Spaniards
decided to build rafts and leave Florida by the sea. (tshaonline.org). Each raft was loaded with
fewer than fifty men, and rose only six inches above the water. They had to sail their rafts as
closely to the shore as possible in case something were to happen. They left on September 22,
1528, and all was going well until they crossed what is now the Mississippi River. Thrown off
course by the strong winds, the five rafts eventually landed off the coast of Texas.
(tshaonline.org). By the spring of 1529, only thirteen Spaniards and an African slave were still
alive, along with Cabeza de Vaca. Some of the men thought that he was dead because he had been
gone for so long. Twelve of the fourteen men had headed towards the coast of Mexico.
(tshaonline.org). They finally landed at a place that they named the Island of Misfortune,
somewhere around what is now Galveston, Texas. Cabeza de Vaca and his men lived out on the
island with the Karankawa Indians from 1529 to 1534, and were eventually separated due to a
state of semi slavery. (americanjourneys.org). After Cabeza de Vaca and his men were separated
from the Indians, he used his self teaching skills and taught himself how to become a healer, or a
doctor. He explored all along the coast of East Texas, hoping to find a way into Mexico and
explore some Spanish colonies. In 1534, the other survivors, Alfonso de Castillo, Andres Dorantes,

Just as Bruce Dawe s poem The Wholly Innocent serves to provide a voice to aborted children,
the purpose of The Land of Fair Go is very similar, providing a voice to children who came from
third world countries detained in detention centres, and are similarly voiceless to people of the first

which addresses immigration from third world, war torn countries. The treatment of refugees and

both poems have incorporated repetition, which occurs at the beginning of lines 1 and 2, and 3
and 4, which serve to draw attention and make those line more memorable. In Dawe s poem the
first stanza states how aborted children haven t been outside or felt parental care, while in The
Land of Fair Go similar subjects are explored and it also says how children detained haven t been

they face when been outside by locals. Stanza 1, line 3 also refers to the lack of parental care

stanza of The Wholly Innocent states how human right to vote is taken away from aborted
children, while the the second stanza of The Land of Fair Go discusses how the human right to

The Misconceptions Of Carbohydrates
Carbohydrate Misconception
Do not eat carbohydrates, they are bad for you! Everyone has heard this phrase before, either from
their parents, a health teacher or possibly an online source. However, contrary to popular belief, this
statement is extremely inaccurate. Carbohydrates are a crucial part of every diet as they administer
numerous health benefits, such as preventing the breakdown of muscle tissue and presenting the
body with energy and fiber.
To start with the basics, what exactly are carbohydrates? They are one of the three macronutrients,
meaning the human body cannot produce them on its own. Carbohydrates consist of sugars,
starches, and fibers, and are found in a substantial amount of foods such as fruits, grains, vegetables,

The health benefits of fiber are endless, but its main assets include lowering cholesterol,
controlling blood sugar and maintaining a healthy weight (Anderson et al., 2009). Lowering
cholesterol and heart health go hand in hand, as high cholesterol may lead to heart disease.
Soluble fibers work the most efficiently at lowering cholesterol, as they attach to pieces of fat in
the blood and remove them. Examples of soluble fibers include oats, barley, nuts, seeds, beans,
and some vegetables. Not only do they effectively lower overall cholesterol, but they especially
work to reduce bad low density lipoprotein, better known as LDL. LDL is the main contributor to
the blockage of arteries, so, therefore, cutting the levels of LDL will lead to less total buildup of
fat and a decreased chance of developing heart disease. Fiber also works to control blood sugar
levels. This can be extremely beneficial to individuals with diabetes, due to the fact that they
produce inadequate amounts of insulin. Consequently, resulting in them having to monitor blood
sugar levels on their own. Often times simple carbohydrates will lead to quick spikes in blood
sugar. However, this is not an issue with complex carbohydrates, since fiber counteracts them by
slowing the absorption of glucose. As a result, blood sugar levels will not immediately rise, making
it less difficult

2. Condition for an Ideal Niche Market. The first condition for a niche market is ideal is if the
market is large enough to be profitable for businesses. The fact that the niche market s size is too

In fact if holding a niche businesses can not afford to expand business will bring a lot of risks, no

Neoclassical Architecture
The Neoclassical architecture consisted in the mid 1800s to the early 1900s. One of the earliest
phases of the neoclassical architecture grew alongside with the Baroque Period. The architecture is
generally evident in England, where there are buildings like the St Paul s Cathedral, The Royal
Observatory, and The Royal Chelsea Hospital. Large scale structures, Ionic pillars, and huge
Renaissance style noodles represent the Neoclassical architecture. Many took inspirations from
simple shapes like spheres, cubes, and cylinders so they could provide a more abstract classicism.
Two well known architects of the neoclassical period were the British architect Robert Adamand
American architect Thomas Jefferson. The British architect Robert Adam was one of the most
important architects that worked in the neo Hellenic manner. Born in Kirkaldy, Scotland, he
followed the steps of his father and studied architecture (Albert 1). His style worked well beyond

Rome influenced his plans and decoration. He even got his own style which is experienced as the
Adam Style or Adamesque. Some of his famous houses included the Kenwood House, Oseterley
Park, and the Syon House (Study.com 1). His plans are a lot looser and less serious, with a broad
range of color and ornamentation. His architecture was made to match the outside of the building
so it would fit the interior. So, bring everything together to

An important corollary of these developments is that as style becomes central in product
differentiation, it is necessary for styles to change rapidly. What has been described as the
essentially postmodern practice of pastiche is an outgrowth of these marketing and economic
changes, in which capital recycles old styles in a desperate attempt to create products that seem
new and improved. As the commodity becomes even more divorced from use or exchange value, it
becomes a sign, able to be given a variety of possible and mutable meanings depending on the
particular market segment. Price fluctuates not according to actual production costs but according
to how much a particular consumer will pay. Cultural intermediaries, or those members of the
professional managerial class that work in cultural industries such as advertising or public relations,
serve as cultural guides for the middle class, helping these consumers navigate the array of potential
commodities available for consumption and offering their lifestyles as models of how to live
successfully in this new world of constant consumption.

There were sharks during the Jarrassic Period about 150 million years ago. Megalodon means
big tooth. It was the biggest, most powerful shark to ever have lived. It is said that the
Megalodon grew up to seventy feet in length. That is as long as three great white sharks! Scientist
believe that it might have weighed up to 114 tons. Picture that being 1 adult male African
elephants. I believe it could have swallowed a school bus Another ancient shark is called
Cladoselache. It lived around 380 million years ago. There have been many of these sharks fossils
found in North America. Sharks are interesting fish because they don t really mean to eat humans.
Everyone says how scary they are but I think if you stay out of their territory they wouldn t feel
threatened. In some places sharks have become an important tourist

Electronic Use Of Electronics As A Good Thing
Sofia Valencia Mr. Waller American Literature 22 January, 2015 Electronic Use United states
teens, and teens all over the world have electronics as something of their daily lives, but parents
and teachers believe that the usage of electronics is not healthy, they believe it can bring serious
issues into their lives. Electronics should be seen as a good thing, they are teens friend not their
enemies. Electronics can bring many benefits into teens life, they can expand their mind through
the internet and the use of electronics, they also have the chance of keeping up on school tasks, and
besides that the use of electronics can also give teens more security throughout their daily lives.

Professor Curt Bonk stated that technology should be offered in school and in teenagers life if
possible, arguing that teens receive knowledge, students explore learning portals containing the
works of Shakespeare, Darwin, Einstein, Jane Austen, Jane Goodall, the Dalai Lama and other
major historical figures , which could not be something that is offered to the students. (Clemmitt
2011)Schools don t teach more than what is expected from students and technology is giving them
the chance to learn new thing. Curl Bonk also said, In the 21st century, digital technologies social
networking, e books, shared online video, mobile applications, virtual worlds, collaborative tools,
etc. enhance the learning opportunities for untold millions of learners. The maximization of
technologies in the learning space, in effect, provides a distinct advantage for learning , stating
that learning opportunities are offered in various ways, that electronics are opening the door to
knowledge with the click of a button. (Clemmitt 2011) Many books, magazines, and videos can be
seen and heard by the people, and just like that without noticing people are gaining knowledge and
improving their academic level. .Besides letting them expand their knowledge, electronics can also
help teens stay in task when it comes to school. Students are always busy with extracurricular
activities such as sports, but still as soon as they get home

A Pair of Tickets Essay
A Pair of Tickets In the short story A Pair of Tickets, by judging from the title one might think that
this is a simple story more about adventure than anything else. In A Pair of Tickets The author Amy
Tan uses a symbols to help us understand the theme the story. Family and Culture are the most
important topic in this story therefore; it gives us a better understanding of the story. As stated in
the context of the story Jing mei is on a train to China, traveling with her seventy two year old
father, Canning Woo. As the train enters Shenzhen, China, Jing mei begins to feel Chinese. Their
first stop will be Guangzhou. After her mother s death, a letter arrived from China from her mother

Blues Boundaries And The Blues Angela Davis Analysis
Rebekah Scarborough
15 December 2017
History of the Blues
Professor House
Did Angela Davis get it wrong?
As a consequence of slavery and segregation, Angela Y. Davis contends in Blues
Legacies and Black Feminism, her study of the recordings of Billie Holiday and the blues
vaudevillians Gertrude (Ma) Rainey and Bessie Smith, black social consciousness has been
overdetermined by race, with too little attention paid to sex and virtually none to class. Davis, a
professor of something called the history of consciousness at the University of California,
Santa Cruz, would have a hard time selling such a notion to this country s black poor, who are
understandably inclined to blame the legacy of white racism for their poverty. But she s right in
step with the more radical of her academic colleagues, even if her ingrained cultural nationalism
prevents her from joining them in dismissing race as an arbitrary social construct with no basis in
anthropology. Race, according to current academic thinking, is a smokescreen that has drawn
discussion away from the more crucial issue of class.
If this sounds suspiciously like Marxism, it is Marxism gone post modern: a tool for the
analysis of literary and other texts, not necessarily a call for the exploited masses to rise. One
of the side effects of this recent trend has been to restore the credibility of certain black
intellectuals and activists of the 1960 s and 70 s, whose Marxist ideals might otherwise make
them seem like relics not of their own day but of the 1930 s. Davis made the news in 1969, when
the Regents of the University of California attempted to bar her from teaching at U.C.L.A.
because she was a member of the Communist Party, and again a year later, when she briefly
became a fugitive after being accused of supplying the brother of George Jackson with the
firearms for his one man raid on a Marin County courthouse. (Jonathan Jackson was killed,
along with three others, in the ensuing shootout. Davis was later apprehended, tried and
acquitted.)
Davis s thesis in Blues Legacies and Black Feminism, in a nutshell, is that Ma Rainey
and Bessie Smith, among other flamboyant women blues singers

Alexander The Great Leader
Alexander the Great was a great leader because he was always determined to be successful, even
when he was young he wanted to win and he always had good morals and a good way of life.
Alexander always loved Greece and was selfless when he was young. Alexander kept these traits
and developed as a leader and used them while he was conquering other countries. Alexander
initially brought 40,000 men to take over Persia, knowing he would get more men from the
places he took over. He spread the Greek ways and he could do anything he wanted because he
was such a dominant leader because he was the best at strategizing and tactical warfare. Alexander
the Great was so dominant because he had the best tactics, cared about his soldiers and country, and
he was the most... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One example of innovative tactics is when he had his men cross the Tiber River, so they could
sneak up on the Persians and destroy their army with a surprise attack. This led him to a great
victory with using a small army against a very big one. This is an example of his army being
efficient. In his youth, Alexander studied war tactics with his mentors instead of going out and
wasting time on games. He was forged to be a great, dominant leader. Alexander was very good
at deciding between fair and honorable and this was a hard thing to do that helped his military
career a lot. Alexander had amazing pre war speeches and this one consisted of him telling the
soldiers their existence depended on their effort in the war. This particular war he did not have
many soldiers compared to the Persians, but his superior tactics led him to victory. Alexander set
up his army with cavalry in the middle with archers on both sides of that, and on the sides of the
archers were soldiers on foot with non ranged weapons. This tactic is a great tactic because the
archers can provide cover for soldiers or the calvary. Alexander had two other people who

Bi-Articular Strength Lab Report
In order to test the passive sufficiency of a bi articular structure, such as a muscle, both joints which
that structure crosses must first be identified. Additionally, the movements of those two joints
which will constrain that structure must be identified. Next, one joint must be selected, and placed
into the position that may constrain the structure. At the same time, the other joint must be placed
in the position which will NOT put further strain on that structure. The selected joint must then be
measured for its range of motion. Next, the same must be done with the selected joint, but in
contrast, the other joint must be placed in the position which WILL further constrain the bi
articular structure. Once that has been done, the selected joint s range of motion must be measured
once more.
If the range of motion of the selected joint is equal when the other joint is in both positions, the bi
articular structure is passively sufficient. If the range of motion of the selected joint is smaller in
the selected joint when the other joint is in a position that will put further strain on the bi articular
structure, that structure is not passively sufficient.
The rectus femoris crosses both the hip and knee. In order to test its passive sufficiency, either of
the joints ranges of motion could be measured. In this example, range of motion will be measured
at the hip. The rectus femoris will be most constrained when the knee is flexed and the hip is
extended. For this test, the

He was born in a family that was a part of the political scene in Florence. His mother died a few years after he was born. He went to study at the University of Bologna which was one of the most famous universities in the medieval world. While he was there, one of the most famous scholars at that advised and encouraged Dante. His name was Brunetto Latini. He appears in Inferno. Only at twelve years old, Dante was to marry a girl named Gemma Donati. They both married but what the problem was that Dante loved another woman. Her name was Beatrice Portinari. He has been said to be the only writer to be in the same class as him. Some people believe that Dante s Divine Comedy is better than some of Shakespeare s work. Dante s Divine Comedy is still one of the best works of literature after 650 years. The work of art is a major part of The Western Canon. The Western Canon is a collection of the greatest books in history. Dante died in 1321 while traveling to Venice. What most people think was that he caught a disease like malaria because this was spreading throughout the medieval ages. He was buried in the Church of San Pier in Ravenna, Italy. Soon after he was buried, Florence argued that the poet s body should return to the city that he was born in. • 3. Essay on Escalation of Violence The dramatic escalation of violence committed by and against people is shocking (Eron et al., 1994). Although according to Federal Bureau of Investigation, the murder rate in the year 2009 dropped almost 7.2 percent in comparison of the murder rate of 2008. Similarly crime rate of crimes like rape and assault had been decreased up to 4.2 percent each and crime rates of robbery and burglary fell by 1.7 percent and 4.2 percent respectively (Federal Bureau of Investigation, 2009) but still the violenceamong the youth has increased sharply. There is no simple explanation for the presence of aggression, nor is there any obvious, easy way to reduce it. The fundamental basis of violence is absolutely clear: the human capacity for aggression. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Such cues can have very strong affects, increasing aggression among people who are in a neutral mood as well as among those who have been angered by provocation. Is Violence Learned? Violent behavior is strongly affected by learning. Rewards obtained by aggression today increase its use tomorrow. Such rewards come in two flavors: Positive Reinforcement: when desired outcome are obtained Negative Reinforcement: when undesirable outcomes are prevented or stopped Based on this approach Albert Bandura presented psychological social learning theory. It emphasizes that we learn from the example of others as well as from direct experience with rewards and punishments. Models influence the prosocial, helpful behavior. They also affect antisocial, aggressive behavior. Research has amply demonstrated that a wide range of aggressive models can elicit a wide range of aggressive imitation. The impact of adult R rated, sexually violent material on sexually related attitudes and beliefs was investigated in a field study that arranged for 115 college students to attend movies at campus theatres (Malamuth and Check, 1981). Half of these students saw the commercially successful movies Swept away and The Gateway, both of which depict women who become sexually aroused by a sexual assault and romantically attracted to their assailant. Due to the prevalent influence of various psychoanalytical theories, and the enormous amounts of female headed households. Ventricular tachycardia is an dysrhythmia in which the lower chambers of the heart, the ventricles, beat unusually fast. The heart rate is measured with an electrocardiogram, or ECG. This is a machine that measures the electrical impulses from the patient s heart. This is displayed on a monitor or ECG graph paper. The boxes on the graph paper measure time. Five small boxes are equal to one large box. The large box represents two tenths of a second. The atrial contraction is represented by the P wave. This is an upward, or positive wave of the line on the graph. The ventricular contraction is displayed by the QRS complex. The QRS ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The SA node is the primary pacemaker of the heart. It starts the heartbeat by spontaneously contracting, causing the rest of the heart to contract in a wave. The wave spreads through the atria before reaching the atrioventricular node, or AV node, located just above the right ventricle. The AV node focuses the wave into the ventricles, contracting the ventricles. Should the SA node fail, the AV node can take over as the primary pacemaker at a rate of forty to sixty beats per minute. Should both the SA node and the AV node fail, there is a tertiary pacemaker, the perkinje fibers. Perkinje fibers are located near the bottom of the ventricles and can stimulate contraction at a rate of twenty to forty beats per minute. If the perkinje fibers or the AV node becomes irritated, they can begin contraction of the ventricles at speeds well above normal. Other causes of ventricular tachycardia include heart disease and medications. When the ventricles are contracting at a rate greater than one hundred beats per minute, the heart becomes inefficient. Blood cannot properly fill the ventricular chambers before it is forced out. This decreases the amount of oxygenated blood circulating through the body. The lack of oxygen in the body causes the heart to attempt to pump more blood, forcing the ventricles to work even harder. Should the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Different Types Of Initiation Strategies This review of literature examine the different types of initiation strategies implemented among individuals to determine which ones were used across genders and which ones were most successful. More specifically the connection between Sociosexuality and nonverbal behavior and relationship beliefs that determine relationship initiationsuccess. Lastly, it analyzes variables that include the person s self esteem and reception received during the initiation. Sociosexuality and Nonverbal Behaviors Individuals sometimes desire commitment and closeness before engaging in sexual intimacy. According to Simpson, Gangestad and Biek (1993), restricted individuals are the ones who require intimacy before sex, where unrestricted are the opposite. In both cases nonverbal behavior were important to relationship initiation, but not as much as those who were classified as restricted (Simpson et al., 1993). They also observed that women scored higher than men for non verbal behaviors used in initiation. (Simpson et al., 1993). Even though men were almost equally likely to lean forward, laugh, downward gaze, and demonstrate open body posture when initiating nonverbal behaviors (Simpson et al., 1993). As expected, women still managed to depict more intimacy then men did. Findings showed that men and women who vary on unrestricted and restricted traits perform nonverbally in a laboratory setting (Simpson et al., 1993). Tell Tale Heart Analysis Emma Li Mrs. Gahagan Period 3 30 October 2017 Secrets and Style of Sir Poe Gothic fiction is the strange, dark, spooky, and supernatural writing style loved by readers of all ages. Most of the stories written in the Gothic style were centered in the gothic medieval period. Several renowned books like The Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux and The Hunchback of Notre Dame by Victor Hugo were written in this style. Edgar Allan Poe was one well known Gothic writer and poet from the early eighteen hundreds; he was especially famous for his tales of mystery and macabre. Diction, or word choice, is also used in The Tell Tale Heart and The Raven to indirectly characterize the narrator and speaker. The narrator of The Tell Tale Heart, upon spying the vulture eye of the old man, depicts it as all a dull blue, with a hideous veil over [the eye] that chilled the very marrow in [his] bones (Poe 355). Through using the word hideous and the phrase chilled the very marrow in [his] bones , the narrator blatantly reveals his wariness towards the old man s eye. The narrator feels threatened by the eye, which indirectly characterizes him as insane because it is unnatural for people to feel terrorized by appearance. Additionally, the speaker in The Raven claims that while he dreams about Lenore in the presence of the raven, the air [grows] denser, perfumed from an unseen censer / Swung by Seraphim whose footfalls tinkled on the tufted floor (Poe 79, 80). As people are stimulated to have a healthier lifestyle, demand for beer has slightly dropped. As supply remains constant and demand drops, chances are Heineken gets stuck with superfluous inventory. Furthermore, in the UK in 2008 alone, tax on beer has been increased by 18%, discouraging people to consume beer. This rapid change in environment did not get any response from Heineken. Heineken claims that its culture is based on four fundamental principles: respect, passion, code of business conduct and enjoy responsibly. These principles confer high values to the firm, as it acts in a sustainable way and tries to create the maximum value for the customers. However, these principles are given by the company itself, thus cannot be entirely reliable as it tries to promote itself. It is not possible to identify the full truth about Heineken s culture, because the company has never been involved in any major scandal. Another interesting feature of Heinekens internal environment can be found in the annual report of Heineken, which makes clear that the majority of permanent contracts is held by men; the number of men with a permanent contract is 53,679, whereas only 12,649 women have a permanent contract at Heineken. Fiscal Stance Currently, England has been using Scottish oil reserves for its own benefit . As an energy rich country with 24 billion barrels of oil to be extracted from the North Sea (Calder, 2013), Scotland has the potential to boost economic growth with a second oil boom of between ВЈ6.9bn 7.9bn for the first year of separation (Johnson, 2016). Oil and Gas Reserves in the North Sea could help Scotland gain it its economic independence (The Guardian, 2015) as the anticipation of higher oil prices is expected to provide a lucrative source of tax revenues (Keating, 2017). However, the falling revenues disclosed by the North Sea coincide with the sinking oil prices (Keating, 2017) at the start of 2015, portraying the volatility of such commodities, as tax revenues from North Sea oil and gas production tend to be unstable over time. Therefore, an economy based largely on oil would be too subject to oil s price fluctuation (The Guardian, 2015), leaving Scotland in a more vulnerable position than it already is in. In fact, the DSM 5 task force and work groups were instructed to consider empirically based guidelines to improve dimensional aspects of disorder categorization such as: shared neural substrates, biomarkers, family traits, course of illness, high comorbidity, genetic risk factors, and shared treatment response. While the DSM 5 task force ultimately decided that it was scientifically premature to transition to a completely dimensional diagnostic system that would have in effect changed the requirements for most disorders, the current edition serves as a transitional guideline to new diagnostic approaches without dramatically disrupting current clinical practice/research (APA, 2013). Dimensional approaches can be observed throughout the DSM 5 through the consolidation of related disorders, Section III additions, and supplemental online materials. Consolidation of Disorders. One of the earliest phases of the neoclassical architecture grew alongside with the Baroque Period. The architecture is generally evident in England, where there are buildings like the St Paul s Cathedral, The Royal Observatory, and The Royal Chelsea Hospital. Large scale structures, Ionic pillars, and huge Renaissance style noodles represent the Neoclassical architecture. Many took inspirations from simple shapes like spheres, cubes, and cylinders so they could provide a more abstract classicism. Two well known architects of the neoclassical period were the British architect Robert Adamand American architect Thomas Jefferson. The British architect Robert Adam was one of the most important architects that worked in the neo Hellenic manner. Born in Kirkaldy, Scotland, he followed the steps of his father and studied architecture (Albert 1). His style worked well beyond only architect, but to interiors which included moveable objects in a room. Ancient Greece and Rome influenced his plans and decoration. He even got his own style which is experienced as the Adam Style or Adamesque. Some of his famous houses included the Kenwood House, Oseterley Park, and the Syon House (Study.com 1). An important corollary of these developments is that as style becomes central in product differentiation, it is necessary for styles to change rapidly. What has been described as the essentially postmodern practice of pastiche is an outgrowth of these marketing and economic changes, in which capital recycles old styles in a desperate attempt to create products that seem new and improved. As the commodity becomes even more divorced from use or exchange value, it becomes a sign, able to be given a variety of possible and mutable meanings depending on the particular market segment. Price fluctuates not according to actual production costs but according to how much a particular consumer will pay. Cultural intermediaries, or those members of the professional managerial class that work in cultural industries such as advertising or public relations, serve as cultural guides for the middle class, helping these consumers navigate the array of potential commodities available for consumption and offering their lifestyles as models of how to live successfully in this new world of constant consumption. • 45. Blues Boundaries And The Blues Angela Davis Analysis Rebekah Scarborough 15 December 2017 History of the Blues Professor House Did Angela Davis get it wrong? As a consequence of slavery and segregation, Angela Y. Davis contends in Blues Legacies and Black Feminism, her study of the recordings of Billie Holiday and the blues vaudevillians Gertrude (Ma) Rainey and Bessie Smith, black social consciousness has been overdetermined by race, with too little attention paid to sex and virtually none to class. Davis, a professor of something called the history of consciousness at the University of California, Santa Cruz, would have a hard time selling such a notion to this country s black poor, who are understandably inclined to blame the legacy of white racism for their poverty. But she s right in step with the more radical of her academic colleagues, even if her ingrained cultural nationalism prevents her from joining them in dismissing race as an arbitrary social construct with no basis in anthropology. Race, according to current academic thinking, is a smokescreen that has drawn discussion away from the more crucial issue of class. If this sounds suspiciously like Marxism, it is Marxism gone post modern: a tool for the analysis of literary and other texts, not necessarily a call for the exploited masses to rise. One of the side effects of this recent trend has been to restore the credibility of certain black intellectuals and activists of the 1960 s and 70 s, whose Marxist ideals might otherwise make them seem like relics not of their own day but of the 1930 s. Davis made the news in 1969, when the Regents of the University of California attempted to bar her from teaching at U.C.L.A.

Alexander always loved Greece and was selfless when he was young. Alexander kept these traits and developed as a leader and used them while he was conquering other countries. Alexander initially brought 40,000 men to take over Persia, knowing he would get more men from the places he took over. He spread the Greek ways and he could do anything he wanted because he was such a dominant leader because he was the best at strategizing and tactical warfare. One example of innovative tactics is when he had his men cross the Tiber River, so they could sneak up on the Persians and destroy their army with a surprise attack. This led him to a great victory with using a small army against a very big one. This is an example of his army being efficient. In his youth, Alexander studied war tactics with his mentors instead of going out and wasting time on games. He was forged to be a great, dominant leader. Alexander was very good at deciding between fair and honorable and this was a hard thing to do that helped his military career a lot. Alexander had amazing pre war speeches and this one consisted of him telling the soldiers their existence depended on their effort in the war. This particular war he did not have many soldiers compared to the Persians, but his superior tactics led him to victory. Alexander set up his army with cavalry in the middle with archers on both sides of that, and on the sides of the archers were soldiers on foot with non ranged weapons. • 48. Bi-Articular Strength Lab Report In order to test the passive sufficiency of a bi articular structure, such as a muscle, both joints which that structure crosses must first be identified. Additionally, the movements of those two joints which will constrain that structure must be identified. Next, one joint must be selected, and placed into the position that may constrain the structure. At the same time, the other joint must be placed in the position which will NOT put further strain on that structure. The selected joint must then be measured for its range of motion. Next, the same must be done with the selected joint, but in contrast, the other joint must be placed in the position which WILL further constrain the bi articular structure. Once that has been done, the selected joint s range of motion must be measured once more. If the range of motion of the selected joint is equal when the other joint is in both positions, the bi articular structure is passively sufficient. If the range of motion of the selected joint is smaller in the selected joint when the other joint is in a position that will put further strain on the bi articular structure, that structure is not passively sufficient. The rectus femoris crosses both the hip and knee. In order to test its passive sufficiency, either of the joints ranges of motion could be measured. In this example, range of motion will be measured at the hip. The rectus femoris will be most constrained when the knee is flexed and the hip is extended. For this test, the ...
