2. The Basic Level For A Good Programmer
Abstract of the Project: The compilers are the softwares which translates the
computer language (source code) into a language more basic to the machine level.
The languages such as C, C++, etc are some famous compilers. In this project, the
main concept was about the understanding of compilers but the best way to explain
was with the help of famous and easy Object Oriented Programming languageC++.
The project gives the vivid and simple view of C++ from the most basic level to the
required high level for a good programmer. The project can be treated as a book on
C++ in simple language by the student for the student. The project later on comprises
of topics from the basic level Identifiers and keywords, Data types, operators and
types of operators then to an upper level Operator Overloading, Polymorphism,
Inheritance, Encapsulation, Constructors and Destructors, Inline functions, etc. All
the topics are discussed precisely and in simple language with suitable examples.
1. Introduction:
A compiler is a computer program that translates a computer program written in one
computer language (source language) into an equivalent program written in another
computer language (target language). Interpreter is similar to compiler but
interpreter compiles line by line while compiler compiles as a whole. Examples: C,
C++, BASIC, COBAL, etc. The C programming language has been used for last few
decades for almost all the applications. Recently, the C++ with Object Oriented
3. Similarities Between The French Revolution And The...
The Glorious Revolution took place in 1688 and the French Revolution in 1789.
Some historians believe these revolutions to be equivalent, but there are many aspects
that make them different. The main similarity was the effort made to limit the power
of the monarchy. The Glorious Revolution and French Revolution are more different
then they are similar because of the events leading up to the revolutions and the
methods used to achieve the goal of limiting monarchial rule.
When comparing the Glorious Revolution and the French Revolution, it is important
to consider the events that led up to them. In England, King James was Catholic and
appointed Catholics to important positions and granted religious tolerance. His
actions would have not been approved by Parliament because before his accession
to the throne, the Parliament had tried and failed to pass a law that prevented a
Catholic king from taking the throne. The creation of this law was due to the actions
of his brother, King Charles. The Parliament would not provide money for King
Charles to run the kingdom, thus he turned to France for help. In exchange for
monetary funds, he agreed to offer support to France against the Dutch and slowly ...

In fact it was known as the Bloodless Revolution. In England, William of Orange
was able to achieve the Parliaments goal without killing the royal family. In 1688
William invaded England with a small force, James II and his wife and young son
fled to France. William and his wife Mary were then named joint rulers of
Parliament. As a result the Bill of Rights was created, which forbade royal
interference in the making or enforcement of laws. The goal of the Parliament was to
limit the power of the monarchy, which they achieved. This is the main characteristic
that the French revolution and the Glorious Revolution had in common; however, the
methods used to achieve it were very
4. Examples Of Hubris In Raging Bull
In the film Raging Bull, the main character Jake LaMotta goes through a long and
grueling conflict with himself in the search for sanity. The victories and titles that
he spends his whole life searching for wind up ruining his life and destroying the
relationships he cherished the most. The problem that Jake faces the most is his
lack of humility and his personified arrogance, also known as hubris. As Jake s life
and career progress, his inability to control this hubris lead him to rock bottom.
The consequences Jake encounters from his hubris are also known as his nemesis.
Throughout the film, Jake battles his insecurities and exhibits a complex towards
himself, which his friends and loved ones begin to realize. Jake LaMotta is a self
loving boxer who allows his training and hard work to turn him into a savage wild
animal. Through his constant display of hubris, LaMotta ruins everything he
worked so hard to achieve and leaves with nothing. Almost immediately after
hearing Jake speak for the first time, the film introduces his hubris. When his wife
is cooking his steak, he repeatedly tells her to stop cooking the steak. His wife
angrily says to Jake, You re in such a hurry. You can t wait. Jake replies with, No, I

on to fight Fox and purposely lose the fight. He sat in the locker room bawling in
disbelief that he purposely lost. He tells Joey, I took the dive. They want me to fall

5. The Virgin Of Guadalupe And La Virgen De Guadalupe
In the final resolution concerning religion, Chicanas declare, Revolutionary change
of [the] Catholic Church or for it to get out of the way. On the resolutions listed under
sexuality, Chicanas mention how they recognize their suppression under the Catholic
Church, how religion and culture control their sex lives, and the guilt complexes
pressured onto them when they challenge the institution. Each of these themes are
depicted through the cultural and religious symbol of the Virgin of Guadalupe. La
Virgen de Guadalupe or The Virgin of Guadalupe, the patron saint of Mexico,
represents a central image of Mexican Catholicism. The Catholic Church utilized the
symbolic image of the Virgin of Guadalupe to represent feminine virtue through a...

The Virgin ordered Diego to collect Castilian roses around the hill and she helped
him arrange them into his cloak. On December 12 when Diego returned to the
Archbishop, he opened his tilmГЎtli or cloak in which the image of the Virgin
appeared. In response, the archbishop honored the Virgin s request and built an
altar in her honor. Today, The Basilica de Guadalupe in Tepeyac stands in
dedication to the Virgin s first appearance and remains the most visited Catholic
shrine. Because of the Virgin s Mexican history, she holds great significance to
Mexican Catholics, so it is no surprise why the Virgin remains inherent in Mexican
culture, or as literary scholar Debra J. Blake so aptly defined, Guadalupe equals
Mexico. Both men and women admire the Virgin, but her religious setting provides a
context for oppression through the church. NietoGomez explains how the church
utilized Guadalupe s image, Marianismo, the veneration of the Virgin Mary, became
the model of how to make oppression a religious obligation. This is the heritage of
the Chicana. The church created a patriarchal role for themselves by weaving the
Virgin s image as a pure mother to model ordinary women s behavior. By applying
this method through the guise of subjugation, the Church rationalized their need to
protect women in order to maintain their pure, moral status. Paradoxically, feminine
virtues expressed by the Virgin as to be employed by women represents many
contradictory elements. Debra

Independent Azerbaijan lasted only 23 months until the Bolshevik 11th Soviet Red

politics of glasnost, initiated by Mikhail Gorbachev, civil unrest and ethnic strife

autonomous region of the Azerbaijan SSR. The disturbances in Azerbaijan, in
response to Moscow s indifference to already heated conflict, resulted in calls for
independence and secession, which culminated in Black January in Baku. Ilham

as President of Azerbaijan. Since the independence of Azerbaijan in 1991, the
Azerbaijani government has taken drastic measures to preserve the environment of

Harper Lee s Theme Racism is man s gravest threat to man the maximum of hatred

racism head on in her novel To Kill a Mockingbird. Harper Lee shows that injustice
is commonly sprouted from racism, and racism can often blind one s thoughts. Racism
can separate a society and can put one up against each other, which can be seen in
To Kill a Mockingbird. Isolation and separation can be caused by racism, and racism
can shape one s thoughts toward a group of people. When talking to Atticus about the

Injustice caused by racism can cost things that cannot be replaced, things can be

Racism is caused by a negative generalization about an entire race and can take

Racial Injustice and bias caused by racism, is commonly evident in Harper Lee s

8. Essay on Al Capone Biography
When I sell liquor, they call it bootlegging. When my patrons serve it on silver trays
on Lake Shore Drive, they call it hospitality. Al Capone [Woog, 25]
Al Capone was one of the most notorious gangsters during the 1920 s. He was a
self made business man. He had a ready smile and a quick handshake, which if you
did not play your cards right, could turn out to be fatal. It took 500 gangland murders
to make Capone the boss of Chicago. He was public enemy number one. Capone
single handedly gave Chicago the nickname The Lawless City.

He had everything to do with anything that involved gambling, sex, or alcohol.
Once Capone had everything he wanted in Chicago, he realized he was highly
disliked by the whole country because he began to hear comments on the street and
in the newspapers. Although he often did business with Capone, the mayor
William Big Bull Hale Thompson, wanted Capone out of Chicago because Capone
was bad for Thompson s political image. So the mayor hired a new police chief to run
Capone out of the city, and he personally saw Capone out of the city. Capone looked
all over for a new location and he decided to move to an estate in Palm Island, Florida
in 1928.
Once Capone was out of the city, attempts on Capone s life were becoming regular
but he had connections with newspapers and policemen so he quickly found out
about the plots. He, on the other hand, was very discrete and clever about his
murders. He would always have an alibi, because he himself would rarely do the
murdering.
His most notorious murder was the St. Valentine s Day massacre. On February 14,
1928, four of Capone s men entered a garage of the Main Liquor warehouse for
bootlegger George Bugs Moran s North Side Gang. When the men entered the
garage two of Capone s men were dressed as police officers and therefore the North
Side Gang dropped their weapons. When they did Capone s gang murdered them

of schoolboys trapped on an island after a plane crash during a world war. At the
beginning, they celebrate as they have total autonomy as there are no adults around.
They attempt to establish a civilization but when order collapses, they go on a
journey from civilization to savagery. In Lord of the Flies by William Golding, Jack

According to Sigmund Freud s Division of the Mind: Id, Ego, and Superego by
David B. Stevenson, Sigmund Freud s personality theory is composed of the id,
ego, and superego. Stevenson explains that the id holds desires and urges and that
it is ruled by the pleasure principle, demanding satisfaction now, regardless of
circumstances and possible undesirable effects . If the desires and urges of the id
aren t satisfied then the self will feel nervous or anxious. The ego fulfills the
desires of the id in a socially acceptable method in the world. The superego bases
decisions on moral values, based on what is right or wrong. Stevenson also mentions
that The superego uses guilt and self reproach as its primary means of enforcement

10. Analysis Of August Wilson s Fences
When Hope Dies Troy Maxson is a difficult character to comprehend. In the
complex play Fences, August Wilson depicts his main character as a harsh man; one
who has been through hard times. The origins of his severity can be traced to many
unpleasant times in his life. He has faced many struggles which ultimately affect his
relationships. He is met with misfortune throughout his life which causes strain on
his interactions with friends and family. However, with all of the despair that Troy
and his family must endure, there is still hopefulness in each of them. While Wilson
presents a character who builds a fence to protect himself from the world he feels is
against him, he still offers a theme of hope of what can become in his provocatively
written Fences. American playwright August Wilsons protagonist Troy is a hard
working black man. The play was written in 1985 however, the setting is during the
1950 s when race relations were strained. Troy has served time in prison for murder
which serves as a major conflict in his life. These conditions along with the fact
that Troy works an unskilled job gives the reader the undertone of despair. A major
theme of the fence presents multifaceted meanings. Rose, Troy s wife, wants a
fence to keep her world safe, to keep the family close, but to Troy, the fence
represents confinement, so he has delayed its completion (Farrar 1). Troy shows
that he still has hope of a more rewarding life by not closing himself off. However, he

The 1920 s in American history seem to be very exciting. It was the height of the
Harlem Renaissance, where African American literature, poetry, art and music
emerged. You had all this African American talent growing and blasting into the
mainstream. Historians refer to this time period as The Jazz Age . When jazzmusic
was introduced to the public at clubs and dance halls it took off! People were
either captivated by it, or appalled by it. Jazz was all about movement; it was
driven by syncopation and improvisation, and for some it was considered the devil

The beginning as exciting as it may seem, it is just a piece necessary to get you to

jazz soloist would improvise his music. Almost just as the author seems to
improvise in Jazz, constantly reinventing, re harmonizing, and shifting back and
forth through various characters throughout the book. As the narrator of the novel
sets up the basic theme, one by one, other characters are introduced, putting their
own spin on what has happened, and allowing the reader to relive the experience
through their perspective; thus, the variations on the theme. Its clear the novel
structure borrows deeply from jazz music. When a jazz player did there solo he

music. It would seduce people with its sexiness and spur women like Dorcas or
make old women clutch their pearls, like Alice. This is the kind of drama where
only the Jazz Era can provide the cheating spouses, the willful women, people with
knives and guns and illegitimate children. The Jazz music within the novel even
depicts the very environment the book takes place. Both the City and the woods of
Virginia are described as having their own music and rhythm and the pace of the
narrator s storytelling ranges from upbeat and fast to slow and bluesy.
12. Utilitarianism, By John Stuart Mill
Utilitarianism is a doctrine in normative ethics that is outlined and defended by many
philosophers, including the English philosopher John Stuart Mill as a standard to
determine what are right and wrong actions. At its most basic claim, the right course
of action one must take should be in the interest of maximizing what is known as
utility. The right course of action is determined as being right if it maximizes the total
benefit and happiness gained, while at the same time reducing the greatest amount of
pain for the greatest number of people. To put it simply, utilitarianismmerits the
greatest good for the greatest number. In Utilitarianism, John Stuart Milldetails his
explanation and support of the theory, and provides common criticisms of the theory
that he refutes throughout the piece. A couple of these critiques include claims that
the concept of utility is opposed to the concept of pleasure, and that it renders men
cold and unsympathizing (p. 20). With conviction, Mill is able to successfully
vindicate and define utilitarianism from critiques, although he could go beyond
defining by providing examples and illustrations of utilitarianism in the way that
critiques perceive it to be in order to demonstrate faults and holes that would arise.
The principle of utility is a concept that was primarily introduced academically by
philosopher Jeremy Benthamand later confounded upon to become what is known as
the Greatest Happiness Principle. Bentham focuses on the

Lust in Sonnet CXXIX (129)
A Savage Action Full of Blame The essences of pure lust and its dark side. That is,
in a word, what Shakespeare in his Sonnet CXXIX1 describes. His language is full
of anger, frustration and self blaming. A real, emotional, affected language no
flourishes. Shakespeare doesn t write about eternal love, the beauties of a woman or
spiritual relations all themes which we might expect from a classical sonnets. No he
talks about lust and the feeling of being dominated and helpless. And even a certain
kind of vicious circle is strongly reflected in his choice of word and the atmosphere

All these human character traits that are ascribe to lust, make the reader realize that
lust isn t something inanimate, but rather a very living, acting and dominating being
. Therefore, one can form a very good impression of the ideas around lust that
Shakespeare tries to bring us closer to.
But how does Shakespeare describe lust? Generally, in the whole poem, different
attitudes are ascribed to lust, especially concerning the ideas of before, during and
after the act ( or action (l. 2) ) of lust. Also in this first quatrain, we find these ideas.
Before the act ( see quote above ), lust is presented to us, in a very direct way, as
something mean, lying, deceitful and almost sadistic1. But ... is lust in action...
(l.2), the poet regards it as an ... expense of spirit in a waste of shame... (l.1). So,
the act of lust itself isn t described as bluntly as before; Shakespeare presents us in
the first line a very strong metaphor of lust. As the word spirit is very often
considered to be a synonym for vital energy 2, so, the reader starts to tend to
interpret the first line as an image of an orgasm which definitively would be a very
strong and rather unusual opening. But it is as least as important also to take into
account the second expression, namely the waste of shame . Orgasm and the feeling
of shame

For some people, drugs are a part of everyday life. Drugs are what allow them to be
able to walk around in the mornings with no ache, or comfort the pain of a recent
surgery, or help and individual cope with anxiety or stress; however, the same drugs
that are used to bring enjoyment into one persons life can bring destruction into
another. This has become a major problem in the U.S. and all over the world as well.
In a recent survey, thirty different clinics, spread out over five urban areas, reported
that thirty six percent of admitted patients has admitted to the nonmedical use of
prescription drugs over the past year (Brown, Chaitkin, 1981); consequently,
prescription pain killers have lead to more deaths that than heroin and cocaine
combined (CDC, 2013). One of the most common types of prescription drugs is a
stimulant. Stimulants are a class of drug that elevates that mood of the user and
increases their energy and alertness, such as cocaine, methamphetamine,
amphetamines, methylphenidate, nicotine, and methylenedioxymethamphetamine,
which is also know as MDMA or ecstasy (NIDA, 2013). When a legitimate
prescription for stimulants is written it is usually for disorders like attention deficit
hyperactivity disorderor ADHA. ADHA is characterized by the inability to
concentrate and being very hyperactive; it is estimated that eight percent of children
ages four to seventeen and three to four and a half percent of adults suffer from
ADHA (NIDA, 2009). The reason why

I feel stress is something that can overtake a person when an event or problem
happens in their life that becomes difficult for them to handle. However according to
Soomo (2014. Chapter one) we learned about the epigenetics of identical twins and
how the epigenomes can become affected by environment, health and even stress.
These things do change the epigenomes they just trigger signals that turn the
epigenomes on and off, which in much later years of life can make identical twins
become quite different from each other. According to Soomo (2014. chapter two) we
learned about the sympathetic system and how if something alarms you like stress
your sympathetic system will increase your heart rate, high pressure, raise your
blood sugar (Soomo, 2014) Even prolong effect of stress can cause brain changes that

damage due to a tumor, their emotional intelligence can diminish. In Neuroscientist

21. Courtly Love and Mediieval Romance
Introduction
The familiarity with the love tradition makes it easily mistakable for a natural and
universal phenomenon and even brings a laxity of enquiring into its origins.
However, it is difficult of not impossible to show love to be anything more than an
artistic phenomenon or construct a literary per formative innovation of Middle Ages.
Courtly love was a medieval European formation of nobly, and politely expressing
love and admiration. Courtly love was secret and between members of the nobility.
(Simpson).
The term courtly love was first popularized by Gaston Paris in 1883. It has since
come under a wide variety of definitions and uses, even being brushed off as
nineteenth century romantic fiction. Its understanding, beginning, ... Show more

In essence, courtly love was an experience between erotic desire and spiritual
attainment that now seems contradictory as a love at once illicit and morally
inspiring, passionate and disciplined, mortifying and exalting, human and
inspirational (Newman).
History
Many scholars who have believed that courtly love was a historical development rely
on historical literature. Courtly love is believed to have begun in southern France in
the ducal princely courts of Aquitaine, Provence, and Champagne, ducal Burgundy
and the Norman Kingdom of Sicily, a sufficiently peaceful yet isolated region, that
was perfect to birth and develop such a movement from around the time of the First
Crusade in 1099. In fact, many literary giants (Avignon, Toulouse, Nimes under the
domaine of Eleanor, Duchess of Aquitaine) retreated in this region. In addition, the
leisure class, the wealthy, and the self sufficient society discovered a new craze in
this area. The areas courts attracted intellectuals from all over, as the South was more
liberal and pluralistic, with Arabs, Jews and Byzantines being among the residents of
the area. Perhaps, even the men outnumbered the women in South France.
Eleanor of Aquitaine brought the ideals of courtly love from Aquitaine to the court of
France then to England where she was a queen to two kings. Her daughter Marie,
who was the Countess of Champagne, introduced courtly love to the Count of

Encyclopedia. This word means the interrelation of all knowledge; it is made up
of the Greek prefix en, in, and the nouns kyklos, circle, and paideia, instruction,
science, knowledge. In today s world the simple word of encyclopedia doesn t
elicit any strong feelings or produce an order for censoring by the government,
correct? However, when it was first published in 1751 the Encyclopedia did just that.
It was a radical multi volume body of work that provoked a range of emotions to
include being described by some as enlightenment and by others as threatening. This
revolutionary and voluminous text was written and edited by Denis Diderotand
numerous other collaborators over many years. With this work, these individuals
were challenging the status quo of the state and the Church during that time period.
Amid so much controversy and continued opposition, Diderot wrote an article in
1755 aptly named Encyclopedia to expand upon the goals of the enormous project. Its
objective best explained by Diderot as, All things must be examined, debated,
investigated without exception and without regard for anyone s feelings. First, a look
at one of the most influential editors of the Encyclopedia and prominent author of
Encyclopedia , Denis Diderot. A French philosopher, writer, and art critic of the Age
of Enlightenment, Denis Diderot was born in 1713. He was a prominent representative
of the Enlightenment movement, the 18th century movement that was based on the

There were a few characters mentioned that confused me. For example, Mr.

24. Samuel Becket s Waiting On Godot
In the times leading up to, during, and after World War I the world changed. As a
reflection of that change writers began experimenting with perspective, time and
order, form, etc. Literature wasn t as straightforward; there were metaphors within
metaphors, stories without clear beginnings middles and ends, poets used mixed
meters and free verse became common becoming what is known as the modernist
era. Around World War II the same thing happened again, but taken to the extreme.
This was known as the postmodern era and writers began to use their works to
convey their sense of how strange the world around them was. The works that will
be discussed are Samuel Becket s Waiting on Godot, a play about two friends who
wait for the titular Godot over two day with the second questioning the existence
of the first. House of Leaves, by Mark Danielewski, is a cult classic about man
trying to understand a manuscript about a movie about a family who moves into a
house that s bigger on the inside the the outside, this novel is special because of
how it s printed, and it s use of multiple narrators, and the final piece, Infinite Jest, by
David Foster Wallace, is a bafflingly complex piece with four major interwoven
narratives and nearly a hundred pages of footnotes, some of which have footnotes
within themselves. In this paper these three books will be discussed in detail and,
through the review, the characteristics of postmodernism will be identified.

Replacing or suspending the new innovations that scientists are making or have
made in the past is inconceivable, however, society can create an Online Crime
Prevention Organization (OCPO) to monitor the internet. In Kiki Kannibal, one of
her major threats was her cyber bullies; she was constantly tormented and
persecuted by strangers online. Kiki was also unable to defend herself or validate
her offenders; she had no help from law enforcement, adults around her, and there
was nothing or no one she could go to with the abuse which made her bullies
invincible while Kiki and her family were left helpless. Erdely mentions in her
essay that Kiki fought back by embracing her outsider status, chopping her long hair
and dyeing it pink. She remade herself into a scene queen, (Erdely). Singer mentions
in his essay that Technological breakthroughs have made it simple to collect, store,
and disseminate data on individuals, corporations, and even the government (Singer

new innovations that are also helping criminals now, they are more discreet and have
found new ways to practice criminal activities through the internet. An Online Crime
prevention Organization s main goal is to stop or prevent online crime with any
action that must be taken indefinitely; OCPO would be able to access and collect
information from anyone who is seen as a possible threat by verifying the online user
through a thumbprint or eye scan before the person goes online. With an online
system created by the OCPO, anyone who believes that a person is practicing
criminal activities such as cyber bullying, can anonymously flag a person with proof
of the action, sending the information to the OCPO who will then begin to
investigate the person s online history. With restrictions, the

and cheering for each other. They would be talking and not texting. Kids these days
sit on technology, and most adults don t like that. But yet they take away the things
that make kids get off electronics. But I can see why some people think it might hit
use of technology. Some kids will sit and watch videos about it. If you want to watch
videos about water bottle flipping, watch one or two.
Third, it gives kids confidence. After kids work hard on mastering the flip, they
will be happy to see there progress, stated Katie Smith. As kids work they get better
at flipping the water bottle. After that, they will get competitive and want to beat
other kids at flipping. Also, after each skill they will move to the next skill. That
gives them confidence to get better and better at it. Kids will get together and have
fun. Inviting more people you don t know makes more friends.
Some people argue, what if the bottle breaks? Well then it breaks. How many times
have you spilled a glass of water? It is not like the water bottle is full. In fact,
flipping water bottles is better for the health of the Earth. It is better because you
aren t throwing out as many bottles. If we would allow kids to flip bottles, there
would be less environmental waste. You can use a bottle till it

Men s footwear comprises the largest share of the organized market in value terms.
The ladies footwear segment remains the most untapped as nearly 80 90 percent
purchases happen in the unorganized market largely due to the dressing habits of

Ama Ata Aidoo s Feminism and Pan Africanism Ama Ata Aidoo is an outstanding
black and female writer. She is a pan Africanist and a feminist but she doesn t use
these adjectives separately. She combines her racial and sexual identity to produce a
mixed ideology of feminist pan Africanism. This is especially significant because the
pan Africanismdiscourse, like all political discourses, is generally dominated by the
male. She becomes one of the strongest female voices in this discourse and she brings
another point of view to pan Africanism. Her point of view suggests that feminism
and pan Africanism are essentially bound together and they need to be dealt together.
In order to do so, Aidoo constructs literarily strong female characters and she

Thanks to her family and the people she grew up among, she knows that the African
people are already feminists at heart, despite the fact that there are lots of things to

fundamental part of the Africa and it cannot be separated from Africa. Besides, she
also thinks that the rationality behind feminism and pan Africanism are essentially
the same, because both suggests a certain group of people having control of their own
lives. Thus, it is intellectually meaningless to separate one from another. Therefore,
Ama Ata Aidoo knows that liberation of the women also means liberation and

creates her feminist pan Africanist ideology. In order to transmit her ideology, Aidoo
constructs strong feminine narratives in her plays and through her characters, by

33. Gender Pay Gap Summary Response Essay
Inequality has been a dilemma for several years in countless different ways. A
persistent problem with disproportion of income between women and men has been
lingering within many companies in the United States. It has been said that women
earn less money than men in the workplace for many different reasons. Some of
these reasons are that women have not spent enough time in the office to be
rewarded with raises and bonuses because they are busy with their home lives and
taking care of their children, they, unlike men, have been taught to be timid and
unaggressive which ultimately steers them away from requesting higher pay, or they
do not meet the qualifications to receive promotions (Hymowitz, 2008). This essay is

In fact, progress for women and minorities in terms of both pay and power has
stalled or regressed at many of the nation s biggest companies. This inequality
shapes perceptions about who can or should be a leader. (Hymowitz, 2008) This
statement shows applicable reasoning as to why it is necessary to have equal pay
between women and men in the workplace. When a company decides they are going
to pay someone less money solely based off their gender without regards to their
experience, it is discrimination and therefore the company is no longer an equal
opportunity employer. Such practices need to be banned so our nation can truly say
that we are all equal. Women need to form an alliance to prevent such discrimination
from occurring and force our government to prohibit inequality in companies.
In conclusion it has been proven that inequality still exists within companies. If
women want to be paid based off their skills and not their gender, they need to
become aware of the fact that this problem is still around and fight to get rid of it.
Carol Hymowitz s article reflects on the need to make a change in businesses around
the world to offer diversity and equality. The change has to start with women coming
together and taking a stand against discrimination. With constant change and growth
within our country, there is no reason
34. The Role Of The American Dream In The Great Gatsby
The term The American Dream was coined in 1931 by American writer James
Truslow Adams and described America as a place of opportunity based on one s
ability and hard work. Although the term originated in 1931, the fundamental ideas
of the American Dream debuted in 1920 s society and contrasted greatly with
previous notions of a stagnant class structure. This was due to the booming post
WWI economy, which provided an increase in accessibility to leisure items and
activities, allowing luxuries typically reserved for the upper class to be enjoyed by
the masses. F. Scott Fitzgeralds novel The Great Gatsby, published in 1925, reflects
these social and economic changes. The novel follows the rise and fall of Jay
Gatsby, who achieved prosperity in spite of being born the son of a poor, North
Dakota farmer. Though many believed in an emergence of class mobility in the
1920 s, the novel The Great Gatsby demonstrates the ultimate inaccessibility of the
American Dream a holistic realization of social and economic equality. Jay Gatsby
demonstrates the progression of 1920 s society, from the stagnant class structure
of the past to the upwardly mobile class fluidity of the Roaring Twenties. Gatsby, a
newly rich socialite of Long Island, sprang from a platonic conception of himself.
He was a son of God (Fitzgerald 104). Gatsby s self perceived identity as a son of
God is the manifestation of the optimism for the emerging class mobility in the
1920 s. The idea that a poor man, such as Gatsby, could become wealthy and
prominent in society was considered by many to be impossible before the 1920 s;
this change was one of the many social norms that were shattered by society s
explosive adoption of the American Dream. The recent success and wealth of the
Vanderbilt family was celebrated by 1920 s society as a prime example of the
American Dream s attainability. The article The Instinct That Makes People Rich
described the Vanderbilt family s rise to success and stated that we can follow [the
Vanderbilt s] general methods [of achieving success]; we can seize these
opportunities that are given to us, and give ourselves a very fair chance of obtaining
riches (Instinct). The Vanderbilt family s sudden attainment of vast

36. The Policies of Lenin and Stalin Essay
Identified within this study is the argument that whilst many of Lenin s theories and
practices were continued under Stalin, many were in fact developed and extended to
new levels, possibly reflecting different motives: what Pipes refers to as Stalin s
personality of excesses . Although for many years, numerous historians including
both members of the Western school of thought (such as Pipes), along with the
official Soviet historians of the time believed that Stalin was the natural heir of
Lenin, opinions have changed with time. As more evidence came out of Stalin s mass
atrocities, the Soviet historians soon began to see Stalin as the betrayer of the

According to this view, had Lenin lived, these policies would probably have been
reversed as political and economic stability was restored, and certainly would not
have given rise to the mass extermination of millions of peasants and party
members, which prevailed under Stalin in the 1930s. In scrutinising the actions of
Stalin, I have examined especially how they differed from those of Lenin, and in
what ways the motives for similar actions changed. One aspect of continuity is
reflected in the control and influence that both Lenin and Stalin had over their
parties. In 1921, Lenin effectively destroyed democracy in the party through his
ban of factionalism. Although this was used to end the problem of splits (during
the crisis of the same year), many see it as a key factor in allowing Stalin to rise to
power. Stalin often accused people of factionalism (e.g. Trotsky, Zinoviev,
Kamenev) as a response to any challenges to his authority. It also created a situation
that allowed the party leadership to do what it wanted and dismiss any opposition.
Pipes argues that as a result of this, the Bolsheviks were carefully coerced into
always following Lenin s will, and that his policy of democratic centralism was
merely a façade like many of the other

resolved issues related to their ethnic identity, and affirmation refers to the feelings
(positive or negative) individuals associated with their ethnic identity. Using the three
subscales while being consistent with Marcia s (1980) identity statuses, Umana
Taylor et al. (2004) proposed a new categorization scheme which classifies individuals
into 8 ethnic identity statuses: diffuse positive, diffuse negative, foreclosed positive,
foreclosed negative, moratorium positive, moratorium negative, achieved positive,
and achieved negative. For example, diffuse positive characterizes individuals who
scored low on both exploration and resolution subscales, but with high affirmation.
Unlike the MEIM, the EIS allows researchers to take a dimensional approach to
understanding ethnic identity. The score of the subscales are continuous variables, so
researchers can examine the relationship among the three with other variables of

In this new generation, we can see that a lot of children have learning disabilities.
Learning disabilities include Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD) and
Dyslexia. Attention deficit hyperactive disorder (ADHD) is one of the most common
childhood brain disorders and can continue through adolescence and adulthood.
ADHD is gifted. Other than this, Attentiondeficit hyperactive disorder also can say is
a group of behavioral symptoms that include an inattentive type, hyperactive type and

things they want or waiting their turns in games. For example, if the child likes to
write answer on the whiteboard, he or she will come out quickly to write the answer
during the teacher is calling other to write the answer on the whiteboard. Additional,
the child with impulsive will often interrupt conversations or others activities. For
instant, while teacher doing circle time, the child will go stand in the middle and
dancing at there. The child with impulsive will also blurt out inappropriate comments,
show their emotions without restraint, and act without regard for consequences. For
example, the child is tired, he or she will express the feeling directly and shout in the
class. ADHD cannot be prevented or cured, but spotting it early with having a good
treatment and education plan, can help a child with ADHD manage their symptoms.
Before a good treatment and education plan, parents need to accept the fact that their

Beekeeping is something that s highly beneficial not only to you and your family s
well being but to the environment also. Simply because bees play a pivotal role in
pollinating most of the crops that are produced by farmers, making them
indispensable by the farming community if they ll look forward to a successful
harvest of crops.
Research has shown that bee populations have in declined in some regions of the
world and this is threatening the supply of crops. This fact doesn t just affect
consumable crops but many other plant species that rely on pollination are also
threatened and if nothing is done nature can be thrown out of balance. It s
unimaginable what could happen to the planet if it was to lose these creatures, so
beekeeping is not just about making bucks but contributing to keeping the planet and
nature in balance.
Honey has healing properties to many ailments as it able to strengthen the immune
system and bee stings have also been used by many natural therapists to cure certain
illnesses. Anyone who is interested in beekeeping but don

For my observation, I was at Randolph Elementary in Ms. Heim s fifth grade class.
I spent two and a half hours, twice a week, for three weeks at Randolph.
Throughout my time at Randolph, I was able to observe many different
exceptionalities. Because each of the fifth grade teachers teach a particular
subject, the students rotate between classrooms for instruction. This allowed me to
observe students in two of the classes. I was there during their writing/spelling time. I
was able to observe Ms. Heim s class for an hour a half each day I was there and Ms.
Thompson s class for an hour every day I was there. There were seven students I
was able to observe, all with different exceptionalities. During the first couple days of
my observation, I was unable to identify the students in Ms. Heim s class that had
any exceptionalities. It wasn t until one day that Ms. Heim was gone that I noticed a
student, Eddie, had a behaviorproblem. Eddie was acting out and calling the special
educationteachers names because he did not want to go to the resource room for
math. After discussing this with Ms. Heim the next day, I found out that Eddie
does not like change. I also learned that Eddie has an IEP for behavior problems
and learning disabilities. Ms. Heim said Eddie s learning disabilities and behavior
problems came from a brain injury when he was younger and because he has had a
very rough childhood. I also learned that when the fifth grade teachers met before the
school year started to
42. Baby Boomers Case Study
Baby Boomers are called time stresses and materialistic (strauss and Howe 1991),
Generation Xers are identified as skeptical and individualistic (kupperschmidt
2000), and Millennials are believed to be socially conscious, yet highly cynical and
narcissistic (Twenge et al. 2008) (Costanza, 2012). Each generation has their own
strengths and weaknesses that come with them. Boomers are stereotypically
described as achievement oriented (O Bannon, 2001), independent, in control of
their own destinies (Mitchell, 1998), respectful of authority (Allen, 2004), loyal and
attached to organizations (Hart, 2006; Loomis, 2000), and diligent on the job (YU
Miller, 2003). Boomers are also often viewed as competitive, and they tend to
measure success materially (Eisner, 2005) (Becton, 2014). This quote describes the

meaningful work, more entitled, more casual, and less work centric (O Brien 2013;

Old Testament Essay In the Beginning: At the beginning of the universe. God
created heaven and earth in six days and rested on the seventh. During those six
days God spoke to the darkness and created the world, brought forth light, created
the sky, land and animals and plants to inhabit them. However, even during this
creation he was contemplating the creation of a being made in his own image. He
created man from dust and named him Adam, but Adam was lonely; so God took
from Adam a rib. With Adam s rib God created a woman and called her Eve. Adam
and Eve were placed in the Garden of Eden to live in harmony with God. The
garden was a perfect utopia for Adam and Eve. However, evil soon entered the
garden in the form of a serpent. One day when Eve was walking in the garden she
encountered the evil serpent who encouraged her to take a fruit from one of God s
forbidden fruit trees. The serpent succeeded in deceiving Eve to take a fruit; she
then ate the fruit and shared it with Adam. Then God became angry with Adam and
Eve for betraying Him. To punish Adam and Eve, he ejected them from the garden
and subjecting them to mortality, painful childbirth, sin and shame. Now that Adam
and Eve had entered into the world outside the garden they were left to fend for
themselves. They had two sons Cain and Abel. Cain became a farmer and Able
became a herdsman. They both offered God a sacrifice but Abel s sacrifice
44. High Yield-Bonds Essay
High Yield Bonds
A bond is debt to whoever sells the bond to an inventor. If you buy an IBM bond,
you are loaning money ($1000) to IBM instead of a bank loaning money to them.
Just like a bank, you are going to charge IBM interest on your money, as well as a
return of principle when the loan is due (ten years later). The company does not go
to the bank to borrow the money, because the bank will rate the company as a high
risk company. Hence, banks are really tight with their money. High yields bond
investment relies on an credit analysis in that it concentrates on issuer fundamentals,
and a bottom up process. It focuses more on downside risk default and the unique
characteristics of the issuer. In a portfolio of high yield bonds, ... Show more content

features and their legal status. Bond issuers may be governments, corporations,
special purpose trusts or even non profit organizations. Usually it is the type of issuer
or the particular nature of a bond that sets it apart in its own category.
Government Bonds
Supranational Agencies
A supranational agency is like a World Bank, that leaves assessments or fees against
its member governments. The most important factor is the support and taxation
power of the underlying national governments that allow these organizations to make
payments on their debts.
National Governments
The central or national governments also have the power to print money to pay their
debts, as they control the money supply and currency of their countries. This is one
reason why investors consider national governments (bonds) of the most industrial
countries to be almost risk free from a default point.
Quasi Government Issuers
Many government related institutions issue bonds, some supported by the revenues
of a specific institution and some guaranteed by a government sponsor. For example,
in Canada they have a bank that issue bonds that are guaranteed by the

headphones, gazing over the sight he was sketching. There was a water fountain in his
town that overlooked one of the busiest streets in his town. Every minute or so the
sidewalk separating the road from the fountain would erupt in spontaneous
explosions of water. There was a sprinkler system along the path that to Cas was so

Vyaderm Pharmaceuticals Case Analysis| | | As consultant to Sanders and Myers, I
would suggest they rethink the continuation of economic value added ( EVA )
bonus payout process. The proposed EVA bonus payout structure is supposed to
be an objective way to gauge and reward employee performance; however, through
no fault of their own, the Dermatology group is slated to undergo severe ebbs and
flows in their incentive and could potentially wreak havoc on employee morale
and retention. For example, in Exhibit E, we see that the dermatology group stands
to receive a $251, 451, payout as a result of a strong EVA at $31,361, a net gain of
28,440 vs. the 2009 EVA. We would also expect to see employees bank $131,451 in

I would argue that the unlimited upside and downside of a manager s bonus

it may be driven by factors beyond one s control and not necessarily as the result of
true strong performance. Yes, the upside is great! In 2000, the Dermatology group
stands to pocket 200+% of their target bonus due to a competitive exit. However,
Dermatology s favorable EVA was driven by unsustainable share gains, a fluke in the
market. But, as seen with the Diagnostics group, when it s down, it s down...and

50. Ted Kooser s Poem, Surviving
Omnipresent Death
Ted Kooser s poem, Surviving , can be interpreted in many different ways. At first
the poem seems to be about a man who is watching a bug being attentive to its
surroundings and the bug having the fear of death. Another way to interpret this
poem is that death is unrelenting. Even when the speaker seems to have ceased the
image of death, it finds its way back. This is prevalent because the speaker starts
talking about the fear of death, then altering the tone by describing this bug he
witnesses. The speaker then leaves the reader uncertain at the end of the poem. Ted
Kooser reveals the uncertainty of the bugs near future in the last line of the poem. A
careful analysis of the poem, the poem is truly about a man in his final stages of life
being attentive to death and the beauty of the bug he observes.
The speaker has a fear of death and cannot escape its presence. The author states,
There are days when the fear of death/ is ubiquitous as light (Kooser 1 2). This line
is a simile that compares the fear of death to the presence of light. This line has a
very negative connotation, because the speaker is stressing that the only things
visible are seen as a way to die. This statement does not t reveal if the speaker
himself has this fear of death. This line does indicate that the speaker thinks about
death a lot, but does not think of death everyday. This means the author may think
about death when he alone or sad. The speaker states that the fear of death
51. How Is Macbeth Relevant Today
The Modern Relevance of Macbeth There are numerous historical topics and ideas
that consistently have their relevance questioned in the modern world. These
controversial topics include, religious books like the Bible, Martin Luther King Jr s
I Have a Dream. Speech, and many other events in history. One of the most
commonly discussed subjects in relation to relevance is Shakespeare s play Macbeth.
People often say that Macbeth doesn t relate to today s world and culture because
it was written over 400 years ago. Contrary to that belief, Macbeth s complexity
allows it to connect to the modern world better than most of the stories and plays of
today. In Macbeth, Shakespeare displays the themes of corruption, guilt, and the
conflict between fate and free will. All of these themes remain relevant to the 21st
century because human nature has never changed. The first aspect that helps
Macbeth maintain its relevance is the portrayal of corruption through the lead
character, Macbeth. In the beginning of the story, Macbeth is an honest man who is
on good terms with his relative King Duncan. As the story progresses, Macbeth is
corrupted by his desire for power and eventually kills King Duncan for his place on
the throne in Act 2, Scene 1. This same kind of corruption is seen today with... Show

After Macbeth and his wife had gained power by killing multiple people, they were
consumed by guilt from all they had done. This guilt was so immense that both
Macbeth and his wife started to experience visions relating to the murders they had
committed. Every person has experienced guilt at some point in their life. This guilt
could come from something as simple as stealing a dollar bill from someone, or as
horrific as taking someone s life. The feeling and theme of guilt will never lose its
relevance, making it another example of Macbeth s truly timeless
52. Lady Lazarus
The Phoenix Reborn In Sylvia Plath s poem Lady Lazarus , Plath uses the horrific
events of the Holocaust to symbolize the numerous deaths and rebirths of Lady
Lazarus. Each death in the story is at the fault of a man and at the end of the story,
Lady Lazarus rises from the ashes with a new vigor and devours all men to take back
the reins of her life. Resurrection is an important theme throughout the poem and
Plath uses both the name of Lady Lazarus, and more importantly, the nature of the
mythical phoenix to emphasize this. The symbolization of the phoenix being reborn
unravels the idea that Lady Lazarus invited these deaths with the knowledge that after
each death comes a self empowering metamorphosis. Despite Lady Lazarus gruesome

During her ranger days, she was a skilled huntress. After she was brought back, she
gained many new magical abilities. She ripped her own soul out of the
underworld, and brought herself back to life. After that, she was given darker,
magical powers. Sylvanas is described as having powers such as bringing the dead
back to life. This comes in handy because when she kills the enemy s troops, she
can bring them back to life and have them under her control. This is similar to what
Arthas did with the Scourge, so it s a little ironic. She is also extremely powerful,
although not looking like it. She may look like a normal elven woman, but she has a
plethora of charms casted onto her body, making it nearly indestructible. Sylvans has
