BBS-Behavior Based Training
for Projects & Offices
Definition
Behavior Based Safety is an approach to
safety that focuses on employee’s behavior
as the cause of most work-related injuries
and illnesses
Purpose
The BBS process uses positive reinforcement to change unsafe individual
behaviors and to encourage safe behaviors
The process starts with a behavioral hazard analysis to identify "at-risk"
behaviors

Focuses on at-risk behaviors that can lead to injury

Definition Behavior Based Safety is an approach to safety that focuses on employee’s behavior as the cause of most work-related injuries and illnesses Purpose The BBS process uses positive reinforcement to change unsafe individual behaviors and to encourage safe behaviors The process starts with a behavioral hazard analysis to identify "at-risk" behaviors Behavior Based Safety ( BBS )

Behavior Based Safety ( BBS ) Reflects a proactive approach to safety and health management Focuses on at-risk behaviors that can lead to injury Reflects a proactive approach to injury prevention Focuses on safe behaviors that can contribute to injury prevention BBS is an injury prevention process Introduction

ABC Analysis Activator Behaviour Consequence  Event or stimulus that contribute to risky behaviour  Ex- Goals, Policies, Skill/Training, Work pressure  Risk taking or protective behaviour – Act performed by individual  Ex- Wearing or not wearing PPE, Violating SOP  Events that happen as a result of the behaviour- Positive/Negative  Ex- Zero Injury, Reward, Catastrophic injury, Disciplinary action
