A multimeter is an electronic instrument that can measure voltage, current, and resistance. It uses a galvanometer connected in different circuit configurations to perform these measurements. As a voltmeter, a high resistance is connected in series with the galvanometer. As an ammeter, a low resistance is connected in parallel. To measure resistance as an ohmmeter, a battery and variable resistor are used in the circuit. Multimeters are widely used for testing and troubleshooting electronic circuits.
