INTRODUCTION 
 There are two important properties of 
Bakuchi viz. vishaghna and shvitronasana. 
 In charka samhita it included into 
tikta skanda. It used in arsha roga. It 
considered as vishaghna in sutrasthana 2/22. 
It is used in hair oil. In chiktsa sthana 26/268 
it mentioned as one of the ingredient of 
mahaanila tail which use in khalitya. 
 In sushruta samitha it included in 
katu varga. In meda-ayushkamiya adhyaya 
there is beautiful explanation about it. In 
sushruta samitha it also considered as 
vishaghna in kalpa sthana 5/86.

 It is a annual herb, which grows 30 to 80 
cm in height 
 Leaves : broadly elliptic, inciso-dentate.

 Fruits: pods, indehiscent, ovate, in shape. 
Dark chocolate to almost black in color. 
3.5-4.5mm x 2.0-3.0mm in size ,having a 
seed in it 
 Seeds: smooth, adhering to the pericarp. 
 Flowering & fruiting during April-june
