Akarakaraba is a perennial shrub native to North Africa and the Arabian Peninsula. According to Bhavaprakash, it is known for its aphrodisiac and vajikara properties without losing potency for 7 years. It has white or yellow flowers that produce a burning or tingling sensation when tasted. The fresh root induces salivation when chewed. It contains compounds like anacyclin and pyrethrin and has anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, and insecticidal properties. It is used to treat heart conditions, cough, joint pain, and infertility and should be used cautiously to avoid side effects like excessive salivation.
