Changes Through Time Analysis
After completing The Changes through Time activity I learned what kind of person I am, what kind of
person I was, and what kind of person I am going to be. To begin with, this activity made me realise
what kind of person I am. I learned that I am a very respectful, intelligent, and clam person. This is a
very important because I discovered who I really am. Secondly, this activity made me realise what
kind of person I used to be. I used to be a very stubborn and active person. This made me realise that
the changes have improved in many ways (attitude), but not all changes were positive, for example, I
became less active/athletic. Thirdly, this activity made me realise who I was going to become. I felt
like I was going to become a respectful, determined, and successful person. This activity has helped
me make life goals and also exceeded my determination. To summarize, in this activity I learned what
kind of person I am, what kind of person I was, and what kind of person I am going to be.
How can you use what you learned by doing this activity? After completing The Changed through
Time activity I can use what I learned by preparing for the future, improving any mistakes, and
analyze/assess what I have learned. To begin ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

also the changes that were to come, I found this really interesting. Secondly, I got a lot of motivating
vibes from this activity because of the fact that I was excited to pursue my career path (future) and it
also made me more curious. This motivation made me think of life goals like becoming a successful
person. To summarize, two things that I really found interesting was more knowledge about myself,

Is The Use Of Indirect Characterization In Natasha...
The Cellar, by Natasha Preston, is a book about a teenage girl named Summer who gets kidnapped.
Summer gets kidnapped by a man named Clover, who is trying to make his, perfect family. He keeps
four girls in his basement at a time and calls them all by names of flowers, Lilly, Poppy, Rose, and
Violet. Summer, who is referred to as Lilly while she is kidnapper, spends seven months with three
other girls in the cellar trying to survive until they finally escape. While Lilly is in the cellar she has to
watch many horrible things happen, for example, girls getting stabbed to death by Clover. At the end
of the book the police arrive at Clover s house to rescue the girls. After the girls are found Lilly returns
to live a normal life with her family and new friends.
Natasha Preston used indirect characterization to reveal her characters. We know indirect
characterization was used because, we learned more about Summer as time went on and as she
interacted with other characters. The reader learned her character traits by the way she acted and who
her friends were, rather than the author coming out and telling us about her. By the author using
indirect characterization we learned Summer is an outgoing teenage girl who is strong and has great
friends.

Atomic Mass Of Pure Aluminum Lab Report
Introduction This experiment had two objectives: 1) to determine the atomic mass of pure aluminum,
and 2) to determine the masses of aluminum and zinc in an unknown aluminum alloy. To fulfill both
of these objectives, both pure aluminum and the unknown alloy were reacted with HCl in order to
produce a chemical and H2 gas. The reaction of aluminum and zinc with HCl are found below:
2Al(s) + 6HCl(aq) ⟶ 2AlCl3(aq) + 3H2(g)
2Zn(s) + 6HCl(aq) ⟶ 2ZnCl3(aq) + 3H2(g) Both metal samples would dissolve into liquid HCl,
producing a H2 gas which would then displace grams of H₂O into a previously weighed beaker. The
increased mass of the beaker was then used to determine the amount of moles of H2, which was
subsequently used to determine the moles of aluminum reacted. Using the first reaction shown above
and molar mass ratios, the atomic mass of the pure aluminum sample was found, fulfilling the first
objective. A provided formula in the lab manual was then used to convert moles of H2 into a mass
fraction of aluminum in the unknown alloy, completing the second objective. Results for both
reactions were measured and calculated with the use of provided formulas found in the lab manual.
Observations and Procedure Four trials were conducted in this experiment. The first two trials were
set up to ultimately record the experimental molar mass of aluminum, and the last two trials were set
up to record the percentages of aluminum to zinc in an unknown alloy. The purpose of two trials for

Research Methodology For A Researcher
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY Research methodology involves the design which a researcher ought
to use to study a topic of interest. It therefore involves the procedure by which researchers undertake
their work and the framework within which is conducted (Rajasekar et al., 2013; Remenyi et al.,
1998). Research Methodology aids research planning, if properly design it will enable a researcher to
arrive at results or findings and tools that can either be used to disprove or approve such knowledge.
(Nachamias et al., 1996; Saunders et al.,2003). This chapter outlines data collection procedure as well
as how data is analyse for this study. These involve choice of the sampling frame, sampling
techniques, how interviews were designed and conducted as well as questionnaire administration, time
horizon, transcription of interviews and analysis of responses, ethical concerns and limitations of the
methods. Qualitative Research Methods Qualitative research method was chosen for this study. It
involves an interpretative inquiry and a naturalistic approach to an area of study (Denzin, Lincoln,
2005; Qazi, 2011). Researchers therefore make an interpretation of what they observe, hear, and
understand (Creswell 2003). Qualitative research method was suitable and adopted to deal with the
study objectives since the research was more naturalistic, participant driven and comprehensive
(Ciceu, 2015) as well as inquiring. Methods of Data Collection For the purpose of this research survey

History of the PC Essay
History of the PC
Nothing epitomizes modern life better than the computer. For better or worse, computers have
infiltrated every aspect of our society. Today computers do much more than simply compute:
supermarket scanners calculate our grocery bill while keeping store inventory; computerized
telephone switching centers play traffic cop to millions of calls and keep lines of communication
untangled; and automatic teller machines (ATM) let us conduct banking transactions from virtually
anywhere in the world. But where did all this technology come from and where is it heading? To fully
understand the impact computers have on our lives and promises they hold for the future, it is
important to understand the personal computer. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Wozniak worked for Hewlett Packard, while Jobs worked for Atari Company. Wozniak had been
working in computer design for a while when, in 1976, he designed what would become the Apple 1.
This was Wozniak s first contribution to the personal computer. The Apple 1 was built in printed
circuit board form when Jobs insisted it could be sold. In April of 1976 at the Homebrew Computer
Club In Palo Alto, the Apple 1 made its debut, but few people took it very seriously. The Apple 1 was
based on the MOStek 6502 chip, whereas most other kit computers were built from the Intel 8080
(Apple 1). The Apple 1 was not very successful in 1976. It was sold through small retailers and only
included the circuit board. A tape interface was sold separately, but you had to build your own case for
the Apple 1. The circuit board itself initially cost $667. It wasn t until 1977, when the Apple II debuted
that Apple begun to take off. The Apple II was based on Wozniak s Apple I design, but had several
additions. The first improvement was a plastic case; this made the Apple II the first PC to come in any
kind of casing. Secondly was the ability to display color graphics. Also it included a larger ROM,
more expandable RAM and had integer basic hard coded on the ROM for easier programming. With
all this came two game paddles and a demo cassette for $1,298. The following year Apple released a
disk drive compatible with for the Apple II. It was at this time that orders for Apple

Abstract This paper presents an experimental investigation on the behavior and strength of reinforced
concrete slabs with lap splice of tension reinforcement using headed bars. Nine simply supported
concrete one way slabs were tested to study the effect of lap splices length, confinement at the splice
zone, debonding of bars in the splice zone, and applying repeated gradually increasing cyclic loading.
It was found that implementation of lap splice length as stated by ACI 318 14 for headed bars, but
without adding confinement in the splice zone, and using cut off ratio equal to 100%, resulted in a
brittle failure of the slab and the ductility was reduced. When the tested slabs were provided with
confinement in the splice zone, the strength of slabs was improved and ductility of these slabs was
remarkably increased. Additionally, the integrity of the lap joint was preserved when subjected to
repeated gradually increasing cyclic loading.

because it brings the stories to life, keeping the listener enticed.
Some women claim that a part of the matter of an excessive amount of stress that comes from their

Usability and Web Accessibility
Assistive devices and technologies come in a wide assortment each designed to address specific
limitations and help those with those limitations lead a normal or close to normal lifestyle. These
devices can help address problems with hearing loss, or voice, speech, or language based
communications. A great number of devices and technologies are now available to help those with
limitations access and use the internet in ways never before possible.
Understanding Web Usability
In order for a website to effectively deliver content to the user, several key factors must be present.
First, the website must be available and accessible. Availability is a straight forward concept where the
website must be reachable and functioning. The accessibility of a website is a bit more of a
complicated issue. According to the Web Accessibility Initiative, Web accessibility means that people
with disabilities can use the web. More specifically, Web accessibility means that people with
disabilities can perceive, understand, navigate, and interact with the Web and that they can contribute
to the Web (Henry, 2005).
Next, a website must have clarity. Clarity refers to a websites ability to provide visitors with the
information they are looking for. This can be accomplished by designing the website with simplicity,

Identity Based Encryption is a public key encryption scheme where any string can be a users email
address or name. The advantage of Identity Based Encryption is no certificate is needed to bind names
to public keys. This feature may help to launch a public key infrastructure since receiver does not have
to obtain public key and certificate before receiving encrypted communication. The sender can use
receivers Id as its public key and does not need to obtain and verify certificate on the recipient s public
key.
5. Advantages of ECC over RSA
A. Security
The main advantage ECC has over RSA is that the essential operation in ECC is point addition and it
is computationally very costly. To maintain the same security degree the bits number will increase in
RSA generated key pair. We can see from below figure that RSA should use 3072 bit while 256 bit for
ECC. Hence ECC is more secure than RSA.
B. Space Requirements
Because increasing computation is needed for higher bit encryption more transistors are needed
onboard the smart card to achieve operation. This causes growth in the area of employed processors.
By ECC transistor number can be cut back on since numbers required are much smaller than RSA
with similar level of security. Bandwidth requirements are same for RSA and ECC when message is
long but when message is short ECC is

Methanol Exposure And Its Effect On The Fertility Of Biota...
Introduction A plant that produces alcohol as the main or by product sometimes experience failure or
did not properly manage their waste. The wastewater may be released to the water streams nearby and
affecting the environment and human. Some of alcoholic compound that are endangering the
environment is acetone, methanol and n propanol depending on the concentration. Acetone has a slight
toxicity when exposed to aquatic life and it caused membrane damage, a decrease in size and decrease
in germination of various agricultural and ornamental plants. Methanol may affect animals, birds and
fish, leading to their death. Exposure can also cause low growth rate in plants. Long term methanol
exposure can affect the fertility of biota and affect their appearance or behaviour ( National Pollutant
Inventory , 2016). Since alcohol is very volatile it is more practical to detect the compound using Gas
Chromatography (GC) instead of High Performance Liquid Chromatography. With hydrocarbon it is
suitable to use flame ionisation energy. In this experiment, GC that was used has the schematic
diagram as below: Figure 1: GC schematic diagram. Sheffield Hallam University (2016) Based on
Figure 1, the wastewater sample would be injected onto the injector port and with high temperature
about 200C the wastewater sample would be vaporized and forced through the capillary column that
has a temperature of 87C. Difference in polarity would determine the retention time of the compound
in the GC.

Compare And Contrast My Mother In Milan And Italy
Flashback Five years ago, I decided to take a vacation to visit my mother in Milan, Italy. I thought the
mother I once knew would always be but I was wrong. People change over the years and now, I
believe we change every day. We may not change dramatically but it s the smallest details and
characteristics that make up a personality. Family matter, financial problems and entertainment were
things I encountered in my trip. Family matters was a problem for me because I haven t seen my
mother in years. I really thought she was going to be the same sweet, caring, and loving mother she
once was. After three days of my arrival, my mother began arguing and screaming at me for no reason
but I tried not to talk back to her since I m a short tempered kind of person. I decided to ignore what
she said but that only made things worse for me. It reached to the point that I decided to stay with my

Calculation of Preferred Dividends
How to Calculate Preferred Dividends
Preferred stock (or preference shares) is a special class of stock that pays a fixed dividend set at the
time of issuance. Also, preferred dividends must be paid before common stock dividends. To calculate
the dividends for preferred stocks, you need to multiply the par value of the shares by the dividend
percentage.
Example 1:
If the dividend percentage is 8 percent and the preferred stock was issued at $20 per share, then the
annual dividend is: 8% * $20 = $1.60 per share.
Example 2:
If you owned 10,000 6.5 percent preferred shares which were issued at a par value of $50 per share,
then:
The dividend per share of preferred stock = $50 * 6.5% = $3.25
Total Preferred Dividends = 10,000 shares * $50 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is an indication of the cash return that shareholders receive from holding shares in the listed
company.
Formula:
Dividend Per Share (DPS) = Dividends paid to equity shareholders / Number of issued equity shares
Example 1:
Bronze Ltd announced a total of $200,000 in dividends over the last year, and it has 4 million shares
outstanding, then the DPS would be: 200,000 / 4,000,000 = $0.05 per share.
Example 2:
Calculate the DPS for Modern Product Ltd., given the following information:
Dividends proposed $30,000
Ordinary shares of $0.50 each: $600,000
Solution:
Number of shares issued = 600,000 / 0.50 = 1,200,000
DPS = 30,000 / 1,200,000 = $0.025

Lymphatic System Research Paper
Disorders of the lymphatic system
lymphedema is an excess amount of lymphatic fluid in our skin tissue that causes bloating or swelling
in the arms or legs.
Lymphoma is any cancer that originates in the lymphatic system cells, tissue, lymph nodes and spleen.
The lymphomas are divided into two major categories: Hodgkin lymphoma and all other lymphomas,
called non Hodgkin lymphomas.
Networks of lymph vessels, lymphatic tissue, and bean shaped lymph nodes make the lymphatic
system. The lymph vessels collect lymph fluid from the body tissues and transport it to the blood,
maintaining fluid balance in the body. Lymph is filtered through lymph nodes, which are packed with
lymphocyte white blood cells. These cells are produced in the bone marrow, ... Show more content on

In some non Hodgkin lymphoma, the amount of protein produced is increased by the lymphoma cells
causing the blood to become too thick that plasmapheresis has to be performed to remove the protein.
Watchful waiting may be advised for certain types. The outcome is dependant on the subtype with
some being curable and treatment increases survival in most.
Lymphoma is a type of blood cancer that affects lymphocytes and the lymphocyte producing cells in
the body. Lymphocytes are a type of white blood cell. When patients have lymphoma some of the
lymphocytes do not work properly. Sometimes they aren t developed fully ( immature), they divide in
an abnormal way, or they don t die when they should. The abnormal lymphocytes can build up in the
lymph nodes, causing them to swell, enlarge and form a lump.
In Hodgkin lymphoma, the abnormal cells are Reed Sternberg cells. Reed Sternberg cells are white
blood cells (B lymphocytes) that have become cancerous.
Other lymphomas without these cells is non Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL).

Exxon And British Petroleum Spill Essay
Both the Exxon and British Petroleum spills were tragic to the wildlife, environment, economy and
local citizens. In each scenario, the disaster could have been avoided, thus the organizations had to
change their views on how to operate in the future years. The following essay will describe Exxon s
organizational performance and change goals, as well as, a comparison between the Exxon and British
Petroleum spills.
First, Exxon wants to become more efficient. The feel that several factors will contribute to this
success. These include higher energy costs, government orders and regulations, technology
improvements and expected CO2 emissions costs in OECD countries ( Outlook for Energy, 2009).
From an internal prospective, the company created a Global Energy Management System that aid in
their efficiency at the refinery level. Next, the firm see the reduction of poverty and living standards
around the globe as a goal for all. In order to contribute to this, the firm wants to meet the world s

Nature And Theories In Management Accounting
CHAPTER TWO
LITERATURE REVIEW
2.1 Introduction
This chapter begins by looking at the literature that will give considerable information about
Management Accounting and the practices of Small and medium Enterprises, bringing out the
interdependence and interrelation of one to the other.
2.2 Overview of Management Accounting
Management accounting was first known as cost accounting. This origin was reflected in the earlier
title for practitioners of cost or works accountants (Wilson and Chua, 1988). Accounting historians
have long endorsed the view that cost accounting is a product of the industrial revolution (Johnson,
1981). For example (Wilson and Chua, 1993) claimed that cost accounting was practiced by the
mechanized, multi process, cotton textile factories that appeared in England and United States around
1800. This point of view was consistent with Garner (1947) who pointed out that cost accounting had
emerged only after eighteenth century as a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This change has resulted to a range of modern management accounting. This is evident through the
adoption of innovative modern management accounting techniques like Cash Flow analysis, Activity
based costing, cost volume profit Analysis, Balanced Scorecard, Standard costing among others. This
new techniques seem to be gradually adopted by Ghanaian SMEs.
Management accountant is less likely to take decision but rather provides data which is aids
management in decision making. Management accountant deals with future outcome. It helps in
planning the future because decisions are always taken for the future course of action. Many theories
have been developed to management accounting, among them which this study seeks to address is the
contingency

Gestational Surrogacy Essay
Gestational surrogacy: the laws and related conflicts in Europe
Introduction
Surrogacy has been known for over thousand years since it was described in the Old Testament of the
Holy Bible. However, we have almost no information about the practice of surrogacy until the end of
the 20th century in the UK. It gained great attention with the Baby Cotton and the Baby M case in
both the UK and the US then. (Horsey Sheldon, 2012) The view during those days was that surrogacy
was a symbol of the suppresion of women by males, because of the use of the woman body just for the
means of reproduction. Today the general opinion towards surrogacy is shifting to a more favorable
view. More and more people see it as a good alternative for reproduction ... Show more content on

The Vatican forbids ART (artificial reproductive techniques) and therefore gestational surrogacy. They
state that conception is a gift, and not a right. Other arguments used are future problems with
developing a personal identity and parental rejection. The same approach applies to the Sunni Islam.
(Inhorn et al., 2010) In this light, it is interesting to see that other religions such as Hinduism,
Buddhism, and Judaism have a more favourable approach towards surrogacy. (Ramskold Posner,
2013) In fact, Israels surrogacy friendly laws are based on the Jewish point on view on the

Disadvantages Of Simple Marathi Sentences To English As...
Abstract: With globalization English has become the official language of the world. With about 71
million Marathi speaking people and varied works in Marathi literature and novels calls for
translation. A system is proposed that translates simple Marathi sentences to English using Rule based
approach. The system makes use of an online POS (parts of speech) tagger maintained by TDIL.
Using rule based approach the system is feasible up to certain extent.
Keywords: Natural Language Processing, Rule based Machine Translation, Marathi, English,

The Word to Word Translator converts the Source Language words into Target Language using the
Bilingual Lexicon. Re arrangement Algorithm then rearranges these Target Language words into the
correct Target Language sentence structure. The Target Language Generator takes this output and

5. Scope of Use
5.1. Advantages
India is a country with a large population well versed with vernacular languages but not fluent in
English. A Marathi to English translation system will be helpful to the Marathi speaking population
who need to converse in English. Lot of documents, scripts and scriptures in Marathi also need to be
translated to English and this process is manual. Marathi to English translation system will help to
automate this process and help reduce manual work related to translation.
5.2. Limitations
Considering the number of rules [2] to be included in the system, it is not possible to achieve perfect
translations for each and every sentence. There might be some disambiguation present in some
sentence translations. It is also language specific and cannot be used for translation of any other
language pair. It is also limited to sentences in the domain of the project and cannot be used for

Essay on Tool Control
Tool control affects safety. Leaving a tool in an aircraft, engine or a piece of support equipment is not
just an inconvenience, it is a safety risk. Realizing this, in our aircraft maintenance department
superiors enforce some sort of tool control procedures. They realize that establishing and enforcing a
tool control program can provide numerous benefits, the foremost of which is safety. The effect of
Foreign Object Debris (FOD) on maintenance costs can be significant. For example, the cost to repair
a FOD damaged engine can easily exceed $1 million. FOD can also incur extensive indirect costs,
including: Flight delays and cancellations, Schedule disruptions caused by the need to reposition
airplanes and crews work for flight management ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Tool control has been specifically designed to be used hand in hand with FOD prevention systems and
procedures. Important part of this is the person who has the authority to release the aircraft in the
event a missing tool or all the pieces of the broken tool is not found, which in our case is the quality
assurance representative from him to the maintenance chief and finally the maintenance officer who
has the final word.
The primary objective of the tool control program is to improve flight safety by eliminating aircraft
accidents, incidents, and associated equipment damage caused by lost or misplaced tools. Secondary
objectives include the reduction of expenditures for additional out fitting and replacement of missing,
defective, or pilfered tools; the reduction of man hours for maintenance task completion; and a general
improvement in the quality of aviation maintenance.
Every morning and every after maintenance action we ATAF which means all tools accounted for.
During any job an ataf should be had at all times, but how many times are you supposed to ataf your
tools? An ataf is performed before the cdi checks your box to be checked out, it is then checked by the
cdi so they can check the box out to you to use, before you go out and do your job on the flight line in
the hangar etc. when you get out to your job another ataf should be performed and you yet again make
sure you have all of your tools, any work stoppage for example,

Platos Symposium, And Ovid s The Art Of Love
Destiny or Deception
Lao Tzu, one of ancient China s greatest philosophers once said when asked to explain what love is,
[it] is of all passions the strongest, for it attacks simultaneously the head, the heart and the senses.
Since the beginning of time, writers and philosophers have been trying to discover the origins of this
attack, and many attribute different reasons for this immense feeling. In both Plato s Symposium, and
Ovid s The Art of Love, Aristophanes and Ovid attempt to address the genesis of love by asking: what
is the feeling that drives us towards another human: Is it physical attraction? Sexual desire?
Experience in the field of dating? Or is this attack of the senses due to something beyond our
comprehension, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The whole premise of his book, is to give advice to the man who needs instruction in loving (105). If
love were something destined, the chase would simply be unnecessary, and the advice on how to love
would be useless.
Aristophanes defines love as the pursuit of wholeness, implying that true love eventually leads you to
goodness. He goes on to say that once one finds their other half, they are overwhelmed, to an amazing
extent, with affection, concern, and love. This rather positive view of love is quite opposite from Ovid
s view. Ovid treats love like a realist, recognizing that it can be heartbreaking, even going on to
compare it to war. Ovid also warns his readers about the dangers of love by saying if you re uncertain
at all, never step over the sill (183). In other words, he is encouraging them to love rationally, because
he is aware of the dangers of heartbreak. In fact, Ovid wrote an entire book about how to deal with
heartbreak, titled The Remedies for Love. There is nothing in Aristophanes speech, or The Symposium
itself that mentions how to deal with getting over someone, further emphasizing the idea that the
greeks had a rather idealistic view of the emotion, not fully recognizing its detrimental effects.
When it comes to approaching love, Ovid recognizes that the right person is not going to come to you
floating down from the heavens (106), and that is why he writes his book in the first place: to guide
others in finding a match of sorts.

Stiff Neck Research Paper
According to the American Academy of Pain Medicine, Americans said that neck pain was on their
top four list of common pains. All of us have experience a stiff neck at some point in our lives.
http://www.painmed.org/patientcenter/facts_on_pain.aspx#common What is a Stiff Neck?
It s when you experience pain or stiffness in the neck that makes it difficult to move your neck from
side to side. It s a pain that can usually be treated at home and will pass in a day or two with the right
treatment.
Common Causes of a Stiff Neck
Stress
One of the most common causes of a stiff neck is stress. Stress can cause muscles in the body to
tighten, which can eventually lead to stiffness and pain. People normally experience a stiff neck as

While sitting up straight in a chair, press your shoulder blades together then relax. This should be done
up to ten times. Roll your shoulders in circles to the back then reverse at least ten times. With slow
movements, press your ear towards your shoulder on each side. Do as many repetitions as you need to
start feeling the muscle releasing.
Heat Therapy
Blood circulation to the neck can decrease the pain and muscle spasm associated with a stiff neck. You
can use a heating pad or a warm cloth on your neck for approximately twenty minutes to relieve the
pain and stiffness. The heat loosens the neck muscles.
Massage the Muscle
A good massage of the area can also reduce inflammation and increase blood flow to the muscles. A
soothing oil for the massage will also have the added benefit of helping you to relax and feel less
stressed.
Exercises for a Stiff Neck
Like every other muscle in the body, the neck muscle needs to be exercised to function properly.
Slowly roll your head in a circle clockwise ten to fifteen times before switching directions and circling
counter clockwise. This will help exercise the neck. Let your chin drop to your chest slowly then
reverse direction to look at the ceiling. Be careful with this exercise since it can make you slightly
dizzy if you do it too quickly.

The Basic Idea Of Hadoop
Basic Idea : Parallelization
The Basic idea in Hadoop is all about parallelization. Parallelization can be easily accomplished, if a
processing (a work) can be easily split into n units. Hence the core focus of MapReduce programming
framework have been to solve the partition problem.
The Problem :
Algorithms that are usually used to process data are relatively simple , compared to the amount of
time it takes to finish execution. In order for the data processing task to finish in a reasonable amount
of time, the task needs to be split into potentially thousands of machines in a cluster. To this account,
Hadoop compute framework provides techniques to split data, forwarding these data and code to
participating nodes in the cluster, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Idea of MapReduce is taken from list processing languages like LISP.
Mapping Lists:
A list of data elements are provided to a Mapper (mapping function) one at a time. Each element is
individually transformed to an output data element.
Reducing Lists :
In the reduce step, these values are aggregated together. An iterator of input values from the input list
is provided to the Reducer function, which then combines these values to produce a single output
value.
Mapping step in MapReduce : (Keys and Values)
All the values in MapReduce has a key associated with it. Keys are used to identify related values. The
input and output to both the Mapper and Reducer functions are (Key,Value) pairs.
Reducing Step in MapReduce : (Keys divide the Reduce space)
All the output values from mapper are not reduced together, but the values with the same key are
given to a single reducer, which is independent of the reduce operations occurring on other lists of
values associated with different keys.
Input Files :
An Input file is where the data for a MapReduce task is typically stored, and this input file resides in
HDFS. These input files are typically large to the order of Gigabytes and Petabytes spanning across
multiple nodes.
InputFormat :
InputFormat defines how the input files are split up and read. InputFormat is a java class which
provides functionalities like selecting the files that needs to be used as input, defining InputSplits that

  • 2. Changes Through Time Analysis After completing The Changes through Time activity I learned what kind of person I am, what kind of person I was, and what kind of person I am going to be. To begin with, this activity made me realise what kind of person I am. I learned that I am a very respectful, intelligent, and clam person. This is a very important because I discovered who I really am. Secondly, this activity made me realise what kind of person I used to be. I used to be a very stubborn and active person. This made me realise that the changes have improved in many ways (attitude), but not all changes were positive, for example, I became less active/athletic. Thirdly, this activity made me realise who I was going to become. I felt like I was going to become a respectful, determined, and successful person. This activity has helped me make life goals and also exceeded my determination. To summarize, in this activity I learned what kind of person I am, what kind of person I was, and what kind of person I am going to be. How can you use what you learned by doing this activity? After completing The Changed through Time activity I can use what I learned by preparing for the future, improving any mistakes, and analyze/assess what I have learned. To begin ... • 3. Is The Use Of Indirect Characterization In Natasha... The Cellar, by Natasha Preston, is a book about a teenage girl named Summer who gets kidnapped. Summer gets kidnapped by a man named Clover, who is trying to make his, perfect family. He keeps four girls in his basement at a time and calls them all by names of flowers, Lilly, Poppy, Rose, and Violet. Summer, who is referred to as Lilly while she is kidnapper, spends seven months with three other girls in the cellar trying to survive until they finally escape. While Lilly is in the cellar she has to watch many horrible things happen, for example, girls getting stabbed to death by Clover. At the end of the book the police arrive at Clover s house to rescue the girls. After the girls are found Lilly returns to live a normal life with her family and new friends. Natasha Preston used indirect characterization to reveal her characters. We know indirect characterization was used because, we learned more about Summer as time went on and as she interacted with other characters. The reader learned her character traits by the way she acted and who her friends were, rather than the author coming out and telling us about her. By the author using indirect characterization we learned Summer is an outgoing teenage girl who is strong and has great friends. The theme of the book was having the will to ... • 4. Atomic Mass Of Pure Aluminum Lab Report Introduction This experiment had two objectives: 1) to determine the atomic mass of pure aluminum, and 2) to determine the masses of aluminum and zinc in an unknown aluminum alloy. To fulfill both of these objectives, both pure aluminum and the unknown alloy were reacted with HCl in order to produce a chemical and H2 gas. The reaction of aluminum and zinc with HCl are found below: 2Al(s) + 6HCl(aq) ⟶ 2AlCl3(aq) + 3H2(g) 2Zn(s) + 6HCl(aq) ⟶ 2ZnCl3(aq) + 3H2(g) Both metal samples would dissolve into liquid HCl, producing a H2 gas which would then displace grams of H₂O into a previously weighed beaker. The increased mass of the beaker was then used to determine the amount of moles of H2, which was subsequently used to determine the moles of aluminum reacted. Using the first reaction shown above and molar mass ratios, the atomic mass of the pure aluminum sample was found, fulfilling the first objective. A provided formula in the lab manual was then used to convert moles of H2 into a mass fraction of aluminum in the unknown alloy, completing the second objective. Results for both reactions were measured and calculated with the use of provided formulas found in the lab manual. Observations and Procedure Four trials were conducted in this experiment. The first two trials were set up to ultimately record the experimental molar mass of aluminum, and the last two trials were set up to record the percentages of aluminum to zinc in an unknown alloy. The purpose of two trials for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It therefore involves the procedure by which researchers undertake their work and the framework within which is conducted (Rajasekar et al., 2013; Remenyi et al., 1998). Research Methodology aids research planning, if properly design it will enable a researcher to arrive at results or findings and tools that can either be used to disprove or approve such knowledge. (Nachamias et al., 1996; Saunders et al.,2003). This chapter outlines data collection procedure as well as how data is analyse for this study. These involve choice of the sampling frame, sampling techniques, how interviews were designed and conducted as well as questionnaire administration, time horizon, transcription of interviews and analysis of responses, ethical concerns and limitations of the methods. Qualitative Research Methods Qualitative research method was chosen for this study. It involves an interpretative inquiry and a naturalistic approach to an area of study (Denzin, Lincoln, 2005; Qazi, 2011). Researchers therefore make an interpretation of what they observe, hear, and understand (Creswell 2003). Today computers do much more than simply compute: supermarket scanners calculate our grocery bill while keeping store inventory; computerized telephone switching centers play traffic cop to millions of calls and keep lines of communication untangled; and automatic teller machines (ATM) let us conduct banking transactions from virtually anywhere in the world. Wozniak worked for Hewlett Packard, while Jobs worked for Atari Company. Wozniak had been working in computer design for a while when, in 1976, he designed what would become the Apple 1. This was Wozniak s first contribution to the personal computer. The Apple 1 was built in printed circuit board form when Jobs insisted it could be sold. In April of 1976 at the Homebrew Computer Club In Palo Alto, the Apple 1 made its debut, but few people took it very seriously. The Apple 1 was based on the MOStek 6502 chip, whereas most other kit computers were built from the Intel 8080 (Apple 1). The Apple 1 was not very successful in 1976. It was sold through small retailers and only included the circuit board. A tape interface was sold separately, but you had to build your own case for the Apple 1. The circuit board itself initially cost $667. It wasn t until 1977, when the Apple II debuted that Apple begun to take off. The Apple II was based on Wozniak s Apple I design, but had several additions. The first improvement was a plastic case; this made the Apple II the first PC to come in any kind of casing. Secondly was the ability to display color graphics. Also it included a larger ROM, more expandable RAM and had integer basic hard coded on the ROM for easier programming. With all this came two game paddles and a demo cassette for $1,298. The following year Apple released a disk drive compatible with for the Apple II. It was at this time that orders for Apple ... Abudina2 1Department of Structural Engineering, Alexandria University, Alexandria, Egypt. 2 Former graduate student, 1Department of Structural Engineering, Alexandria University, Alexandria, Egypt. *amtarabia@gmail.com __________________________________________________________ Abstract This paper presents an experimental investigation on the behavior and strength of reinforced concrete slabs with lap splice of tension reinforcement using headed bars. Nine simply supported concrete one way slabs were tested to study the effect of lap splices length, confinement at the splice zone, debonding of bars in the splice zone, and applying repeated gradually increasing cyclic loading. It was found that implementation of lap splice length as stated by ACI 318 14 for headed bars, but without adding confinement in the splice zone, and using cut off ratio equal to 100%, resulted in a brittle failure of the slab and the ductility was reduced. When the tested slabs were provided with confinement in the splice zone, the strength of slabs was improved and ductility of these slabs was remarkably increased. Additionally, the integrity of the lap joint was preserved when subjected to repeated gradually increasing cyclic loading. Keywords: Concrete slab, Headed bars, Lap splice, and Ductility. • 10. Web Credibility Research Paper Usability and Web Accessibility Assistive devices and technologies come in a wide assortment each designed to address specific limitations and help those with those limitations lead a normal or close to normal lifestyle. These devices can help address problems with hearing loss, or voice, speech, or language based communications. A great number of devices and technologies are now available to help those with limitations access and use the internet in ways never before possible. Understanding Web Usability In order for a website to effectively deliver content to the user, several key factors must be present. First, the website must be available and accessible. Availability is a straight forward concept where the website must be reachable and functioning. The accessibility of a website is a bit more of a complicated issue. Introduction A plant that produces alcohol as the main or by product sometimes experience failure or did not properly manage their waste. The wastewater may be released to the water streams nearby and affecting the environment and human. Some of alcoholic compound that are endangering the environment is acetone, methanol and n propanol depending on the concentration. Acetone has a slight toxicity when exposed to aquatic life and it caused membrane damage, a decrease in size and decrease in germination of various agricultural and ornamental plants. Methanol may affect animals, birds and fish, leading to their death. Exposure can also cause low growth rate in plants. Long term methanol exposure can affect the fertility of biota and affect their appearance or behaviour ( National Pollutant Inventory , 2016). Since alcohol is very volatile it is more practical to detect the compound using Gas Chromatography (GC) instead of High Performance Liquid Chromatography. With hydrocarbon it is suitable to use flame ionisation energy. In this experiment, GC that was used has the schematic diagram as below: Figure 1: GC schematic diagram. He goes on to say that once one finds their other half, they are overwhelmed, to an amazing extent, with affection, concern, and love. This rather positive view of love is quite opposite from Ovid s view. Ovid treats love like a realist, recognizing that it can be heartbreaking, even going on to compare it to war. Ovid also warns his readers about the dangers of love by saying if you re uncertain at all, never step over the sill (183). In other words, he is encouraging them to love rationally, because he is aware of the dangers of heartbreak. In fact, Ovid wrote an entire book about how to deal with heartbreak, titled The Remedies for Love. There is nothing in Aristophanes speech, or The Symposium itself that mentions how to deal with getting over someone, further emphasizing the idea that the greeks had a rather idealistic view of the emotion, not fully recognizing its detrimental effects. Roll your shoulders in circles to the back then reverse at least ten times. With slow movements, press your ear towards your shoulder on each side. Do as many repetitions as you need to start feeling the muscle releasing. Heat Therapy Blood circulation to the neck can decrease the pain and muscle spasm associated with a stiff neck. You can use a heating pad or a warm cloth on your neck for approximately twenty minutes to relieve the pain and stiffness. The heat loosens the neck muscles. Massage the Muscle A good massage of the area can also reduce inflammation and increase blood flow to the muscles. A soothing oil for the massage will also have the added benefit of helping you to relax and feel less stressed. Exercises for a Stiff Neck Like every other muscle in the body, the neck muscle needs to be exercised to function properly. Slowly roll your head in a circle clockwise ten to fifteen times before switching directions and circling counter clockwise. This will help exercise the neck. Let your chin drop to your chest slowly then reverse direction to look at the ceiling. Be careful with this exercise since it can make you slightly dizzy if you do it too quickly. Warm Bath with ... Some scholars believe typhoid fever is the cause because it has the same symptoms as the mysterious plague. Others say it could be anthrax which people get from animals and the mortality rate is 25 60%. Anthrax infects the intestinal tract, creates nausea, and vomiting. Some think it could be scarlet but it didn t have similar symptoms. Another good contender is Influenza. The infection spreads through sneezing and coughing. On the other hand, the Plague didn t start in Athens. It spread through Ethiopia to Egypt to Libya to Athens through a known trade route. According to scholars, it started in remote places in North Africa and lasted for three or four years. So if you work on the ships on these trade routes you probably catch ... • 37. The Basic Idea Of Hadoop Basic Idea : Parallelization The Basic idea in Hadoop is all about parallelization. Parallelization can be easily accomplished, if a processing (a work) can be easily split into n units. Hence the core focus of MapReduce programming framework have been to solve the partition problem. The Problem : Algorithms that are usually used to process data are relatively simple , compared to the amount of time it takes to finish execution. In order for the data processing task to finish in a reasonable amount of time, the task needs to be split into potentially thousands of machines in a cluster. To this account, Hadoop compute framework provides techniques to split data, forwarding these data and code to participating nodes in the cluster, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Idea of MapReduce is taken from list processing languages like LISP. Mapping Lists: A list of data elements are provided to a Mapper (mapping function) one at a time. Each element is individually transformed to an output data element. Reducing Lists : In the reduce step, these values are aggregated together. An iterator of input values from the input list is provided to the Reducer function, which then combines these values to produce a single output value. Mapping step in MapReduce : (Keys and Values) All the values in MapReduce has a key associated with it. Keys are used to identify related values. The input and output to both the Mapper and Reducer functions are (Key,Value) pairs. Reducing Step in MapReduce : (Keys divide the Reduce space) All the output values from mapper are not reduced together, but the values with the same key are given to a single reducer, which is independent of the reduce operations occurring on other lists of values associated with different keys. Input Files : An Input file is where the data for a MapReduce task is typically stored, and this input file resides in HDFS. These input files are typically large to the order of Gigabytes and Petabytes spanning across multiple nodes. InputFormat : InputFormat defines how the input files are split up and read. InputFormat is a java class which

  • 39. The Role Of Erosion In Hawaii Erosion in Hawaii This paper is going to be about how caostal erosion is doubling on the coasts of Hawaii. Because of global warming the oceans sea levels are rising and causing erosion on the coast s. How would you feel if the foundation of your house was slowly getting eroded by the sandy beaches and slowly crumbling. Since of global warming the sea levels are rising in the oceans surrounding Hawaii. So since the ocean levels are rising it is causing the the coast to slowly erode away because the water keeps pushing up against it. If the ocean keeps rising and eroding the coast slowly the whole island will be eroded and it will just turn into an ocean. Since the coast is eroding the people who live on the coast are losing ... She was stretched on her back beneath the pear tree soaking in the alto chant of the visiting bees, the gold of the sun and the panting breath of the breeze when the inaudible voice of it all came to her. She saw a dust bearing bee sink into the sanctum of a bloom; the thousand sister calyxes arch to meet the love embrace and the ecstatic shiver of the tree from root to tiniest branch creaming in every blossom and frothing with delight. So this was a marriage! She had been summoned to behold a revelation. Then Janie felt a pain remorseless sweet that left her limp and languid.
