How did you use media technologies in the construction,
research/planning and evaluation stages of the project.

Throughout the project I have used a range of different media technologies to
complete my work I have done throughout the project. This is so that I will be
able to present/create my work at the highest level possible. I have used;
 Social Networking (Youtube)
 Presentational Software’s (prezi, slide share)
 Creation Software’s (Imovie, Final cut and photoshop)

Social networking
I have used social networking websites like Facebook and Twitter to stay in
contact with members of the public and target audience. I have created a
group on Facebook which would allow my target audience to view posts made
myself and other members of my group. I would be able to post status asking
questing, post pictures and videos which the target audience group could leave
comments offering feedback. This is a quick and easy way to contact the target
audience and wouldn’t mean that I had to get all 12 of the focus group into
one room just to ask one question like “do they like this font”
I also used Facebook to stay in contact with other members of my group
(poppy and Danielle). This allowed me to organise events, have live chats and
post pictures and videos of the work we are designing at the minuet. We can
set the Facebook group up so that we received an email or notification when
we have upcoming events or photo shoots ect.
I have uploaded video I have created in iMovie and Final Cut Express which I
will talk about later. I posted these videos on youtube as a way of embedding
these onto the blog. This has improved my presentation and allowed me to link
video from youtube to a document … this was very useful as during the
research and planning stage of the project I was able to link a music video to
example what I was talking about. I have also been able to post my music video
at different stages of the project see what sort of reaction I would get from my

target audience. During the evaluation I have been able to make videos to
explain what I am evaluating but also as a fun and interesting way of getting an
evaluation question across to the audience.
Presentational software
I have used 2 different presentation software at the research/planning and
evaluation stage of the project. I have used Prezi in the research and planning
stage of the project to show my results of the research I have done into music
video. I was able to embed the videos so you are able to watch the video I am
analysing.
During the evaluation however I have used Prezi to evaluate how my work
challenges or meets the normal convections of real life media products. I was
able to past video and images of current media products you see on line and in
the press … companied against my own work. This was very useful as its an
interactive presentation which look more suitable and professional for a media
business
Slide share has allowed me to embed documents onto the internet and more
importantly our blog meaning you don’t have to download the documents in
order to see its content.
Creation Software’s
Imove is a simple software I use to create short videos on the apple mac
computers like the sticky note storyboard and the evidence of video shoot 1.
These were created by inserting numerous pictures with transitions
inbetweens. I was able to download fonts from Dafont.com a website
specifically made for people to download free font. Then I was able to add
these into the video in the form on titles and comment which would be posted
on the video them self’s.
Another video editing software I used was final cut express this is a more
advanced video editing software which allowed me to do everything which I
could do in iMovie but also do things like adjust the colour and saturation of a
video clip but also layer the video clips so they is more than on in shot at a
time. I was able to use the software to reverse and change the speed of a video
chip which is both something which we have used to create the final version of

my music video. There software also has a lot more video clip transitions which
I could use in between video clips however we chose to use cross dissolve
through the music video we have created as we through that this effect gives a
professional look to the video.
Another software I have used throughout the project is Photoshop. I have used
this to make my digi pack and magazine advert and is a software which I feel
quite confident when using. It has a range of different tools which I needed to
create the digi pack and magazine article. I think that this is the best softwear I
could have used as I was able to layer images, change the colour, saturation,
exposure ect to improve the look of the image.

AT - How did you use media technologies?

  • 1. Ashley Tonks – How did you use media technologies at different stages of the project? How did you use media technologies in the construction, research/planning and evaluation stages of the project. Transcript of the sound clip above … Throughout the project I have used a range of different media technologies to complete my work I have done throughout the project. This is so that I will be able to present/create my work at the highest level possible. I have used;  Social Networking (Youtube)  Presentational Software’s (prezi, slide share)  Creation Software’s (Imovie, Final cut and photoshop) Social networking I have used social networking websites like Facebook and Twitter to stay in contact with members of the public and target audience. I have created a group on Facebook which would allow my target audience to view posts made myself and other members of my group. I would be able to post status asking questing, post pictures and videos which the target audience group could leave comments offering feedback. This is a quick and easy way to contact the target audience and wouldn’t mean that I had to get all 12 of the focus group into one room just to ask one question like “do they like this font” I also used Facebook to stay in contact with other members of my group (poppy and Danielle). This allowed me to organise events, have live chats and post pictures and videos of the work we are designing at the minuet. We can set the Facebook group up so that we received an email or notification when we have upcoming events or photo shoots ect. I have uploaded video I have created in iMovie and Final Cut Express which I will talk about later. I posted these videos on youtube as a way of embedding these onto the blog. This has improved my presentation and allowed me to link video from youtube to a document … this was very useful as during the research and planning stage of the project I was able to link a music video to example what I was talking about. I have also been able to post my music video at different stages of the project see what sort of reaction I would get from my 1|Page
  • 2. Ashley Tonks – How did you use media technologies at different stages of the project? target audience. During the evaluation I have been able to make videos to explain what I am evaluating but also as a fun and interesting way of getting an evaluation question across to the audience. Presentational software I have used 2 different presentation software at the research/planning and evaluation stage of the project. I have used Prezi in the research and planning stage of the project to show my results of the research I have done into music video. I was able to embed the videos so you are able to watch the video I am analysing. During the evaluation however I have used Prezi to evaluate how my work challenges or meets the normal convections of real life media products. I was able to past video and images of current media products you see on line and in the press … companied against my own work. This was very useful as its an interactive presentation which look more suitable and professional for a media business Slide share has allowed me to embed documents onto the internet and more importantly our blog meaning you don’t have to download the documents in order to see its content. Creation Software’s Imove is a simple software I use to create short videos on the apple mac computers like the sticky note storyboard and the evidence of video shoot 1. These were created by inserting numerous pictures with transitions inbetweens. I was able to download fonts from Dafont.com a website specifically made for people to download free font. Then I was able to add these into the video in the form on titles and comment which would be posted on the video them self’s. Another video editing software I used was final cut express this is a more advanced video editing software which allowed me to do everything which I could do in iMovie but also do things like adjust the colour and saturation of a video clip but also layer the video clips so they is more than on in shot at a time. I was able to use the software to reverse and change the speed of a video chip which is both something which we have used to create the final version of 2|Page
  • 3. Ashley Tonks – How did you use media technologies at different stages of the project? my music video. There software also has a lot more video clip transitions which I could use in between video clips however we chose to use cross dissolve through the music video we have created as we through that this effect gives a professional look to the video. Another software I have used throughout the project is Photoshop. I have used this to make my digi pack and magazine advert and is a software which I feel quite confident when using. It has a range of different tools which I needed to create the digi pack and magazine article. I think that this is the best softwear I could have used as I was able to layer images, change the colour, saturation, exposure ect to improve the look of the image. 3|Page
