EVALUATION QUESTION 4
How did you use media technologies in the construction
and research, planning and evaluation stages?
WHY USE DIFFERENT MEDIA TO
PRESENT?
Using different forms of media has allowed me to present my coursework
in a more interesting and creative manner. These different media platforms
are all different which adds variety and is more interesting then just
reading text on a page.
BLOGGER
Blogger is a website that is free to use where you can create a ‘blog’.
Blogger can also be accessed from a wide range of devices (e.g. mobile
phone, computer etc.). This website has been the ‘main hub’ for all my
coursework where all my work is presented. Blogger has allowed me to
place each other part of my variety of media representation technologies
together in a clear format that is easy to read and for me to redesign.
One problem with blogger is that it is an older website and doesn’t work
very well in some aspects. Only little things however like the way that text
is presented and that some images get in the way of text and this still
happens after you try to move items on the page around. At times it has
been a bit of a liability representation wise.
VIMEO
Vimeo has been the most useful when it came to presenting my music
video’s on my research, planning and in the end my main task (My 1st , 2nd
and Final video). Vimeo is a website where you can upload videos for free
and publish them to the public.
The downside is that without paying for an account, you only have a limit
of 5GB worth of upload a week. This is defiantly a limiting factor, however I
never reached this limit as I wasn’t constantly using Vimeo to present on
my blog so thankfully I never reached the 5GB a week limit.
YOUTUBE
YouTube was especially helpful on my research page when researching my
chosen genre for my music video. I used YouTube to show different music
videos that fitted into the ‘Pop’ and ‘Alternative’ genres to prove
conventions that I had presented on my Blog.
YouTube is highly accessible and is very useful for finding what you are
looking for. I typed in artist names that fitted into the particular genres and
their music videos pop up and are available to watch.
SOUNDCLOUD
SoundCloud is a website that allows you to upload audio files (Called
podcasts on my blog). This platform has been very useful as it has allowed
me not to go to the extent of editing a full video with video in the
background to keep the video interesting. This has been especially useful
in the variety of my representations throughout my blog as I have used
SoundCloud for audience feedback and also for my idea generation/lyric
analysis.
SLIDESHARE
SlideShare has been an very good platform in presenting a professional
PowerPoint (see next slide) and presenting it in a very professional way. I
have used SlideShare multiple times throughout my research, planning
and now for this question on my Evaluation. It allows me to keep all the
information that I put on the PowerPoint (which can sometimes be a lot)
and still present in a professional way.
I have used SlideShare for example in my research for ‘Director Research’
and ‘Actor Research’
MICROSOFT POWERPOINT 2016
As said in the last slide, I have used PowerPoint to create the presentations
that that have consisted in my blog. PowerPoint has been a very useful
tool in this aspect but also I have used PowerPoint to piece together the
images of my Digi-Packs in my planning page and also for my final.
PowerPoint is a extremely universal and easy to use software which has
allowed me to create a lot of variety within my coursework throughout not
only my A2 but also my AS last year when creating my magazine.
PREZI
Prezi has been used in my coursework to add a more of a interesting
format of presentation where parts of the presentation zoom in and out
into different parts which display when the user presses the next arrow to
move on. Prezi is a free to use website that allows you to create and
publish these presentation to the public. I have used Prezi in my Research
for ‘The History of Music Videos’
Prezi is a very creative website that has a lot of room for unique and
professional presentations that are highly accessible.
PADLET
Padlet is a free to use website that allows you to create professional
looking document style which you can scroll down and read. It is very
accessible and very easy to edit and use like a lot of the presentation
technologies that I have used throughout my coursework.
I have only used Padlet for my ‘Font Trials’ as I saw no need to use it
anywhere else but also I was looking for a new creative way to present my
work to which I found Padlet.
EMAZE
Emaze is another for of presentation website (kind of like SlideShare) that
allows more creativity if need be for the editor to use. I used Emaze to
present my script. After looking back, I probably could have used a better
presentation website or software but at the time I wanted to add variety to
my coursework presentation methods.
The problem with Emaze is it is a lot like Prezi and SlideShare which I
probably shouldn’t have used so much of throughout my coursework and
tried to find better presentation methods.
SONY VEGAS PRO 14
Sony Vegas is the video editing software that I used to create my 1st , 2nd
and final music videos. As I have used this software before starting the
coursework on home projects, I have been able to get on with the work
instead of spending time learning how to use it. It is a relatively easy
program to use if you don’t know how to us it and is easy to pick up and
learn. Sony Vegas also has multiple editing tools which allow you get
better looking images through effects such as Contrast manipulation
which can make for a better video to fit for your conventions.
I have also used Sony Vegas to create my Animatic and also comparison
video between the change in ideas from my storyboard to my actual video
on my Construction page.
CAMERAWORK
To construct my video to create the visuals I used a ‘Nikon D5500’ camera
with multiple different lenses on it to be able to get the close up shots and
the mid-shots within my video. To create the still moving shots I used a
‘Tripod’ to ensure the camera was stable before shooting the footage. To
create the moving shots, I used a ‘Yelangu S60T Gimble’ which allowed for
example the moving shot in the hallway which allowed for a variety of
shots within my video. To create the light in the dark room for my lip
syncing shots I used a ‘Godex 64 LED Light Panel’ which was extremely
useful to create the zoned in close up shot that I wanted.
We also used the ‘Nikon D5500’ to create the image (before manipulation)
for the front of my final digi-pack.
None of the equipment was my own however. I had a friend help me film
who owned all this equipment. None of the ideas where his however he
was souly the ‘camera-man’
