There are 2 Muslims, 3 Jewish and 2 African Americans.
S- State Objectives: My students will be able to describe holiday traditions to others using
notes by presenting a poster to the class on a holiday tradition that is not their own after
seeing pictures, videos, doing group work, and writing a short paper on their own holiday
tradition. They will be able to do this with 90% accuracy.
S- Select methods, media, and materials: I will teach the students about different holiday
traditions by having them write about their own traditions, showing videos and pictures,
playing music, and discussing the different types of food habits around each holiday.
U- Utilize Media and Materials: The students will write one page on their own holiday
tradition, we will look at videos that talk about the history of the traditions, I will show
pictures of different symbols of each holiday, I will play music that could be associated with
each holiday tradition, and we will have discussions about the different food habits that come
along with each holiday. They will make posters that capture the theme of a holiday they are
assigned.
R- Require Learner Participation: The students will get into groups to talk about what they
wrote about in their short papers, they will participate in discussion and their responses to the
videos and pictures shown, and they will work on their posters.
E- Evaluate & Revise: Their short papers and posters will be turned in for credit, and their
presentation will show what they have learned. Their group discussion and discussion during
class will allow insight for me as to what they are learning about the different holiday
traditions.
