ASSURE Method Assignment
A: Teaching Holiday traditions to 4th graders. There are 20 students 11 girls, and 9 boys. There are 2
Muslims, 3 Jewish and 2 African Americans.
S: The students will learn Holiday Traditions during the Month of December. Each week we will be
going over a holiday tradition from around the world. (4weeks) The students will (100%) know each
Holiday by name, along with the dates it’s held, the type of celebration being held, and what is the
purpose / background of that holiday.
S: For each week we will go over the celebrations, on what is being celebrated, what kind of foods they
serve ( I’ll have them try some samples), what days this holiday falls on, and go over some vocabulary
used in this type of holiday with word search and activities. That will help them understand the words
being used for this holiday.
U:

First week we will review the holiday Eid Celebrations
Second week we will review the holiday, Christmas.
Third week we will review the holiday, Kwanzaa.
Last week we will review the holiday, Hanukkah.

R: For each week I will greet the children with a room with decorations for that celebrations and have
that holiday theme music playing in the back ground. First day of the week will be the introduction to
the holiday and seeing what the children already know. We will learn types of crafts for that holiday on
the second day and get that week started off by having them help me decoration the class. Before the
project I’ll be explaining what that type of craft means for that holiday. Third day we will be going over
the days it’s celebrated on. Fourth day the types of food will be sampled for that holiday.
E: Last day we will do activities to review the words and traditions we learn. This will also be the day
the children will present their selected holiday.
