The teacher will teach Native American history to their 3rd grade class over 5 days. Students will work in groups to create projects about Native American culture, including foods, languages, music, dance, games, and ways of life. To learn about Native American music and dance, students will watch a YouTube video and try dancing to the music. They will also play Native American games to experience different aspects of the cultures. The teacher will assess student learning through their group presentations and participation during class activities and discussions.

A-I will be teaching Native American History to my 3rd grade class. This class consists
of 11 girls and 9 boys, 21 children total. This class is 65% white, 20% African-American,
and 15% Hispanic. 5 students have mild ADHD.
S- By the end of a five day school week, my 3rd grade students will know Native
American History. They will learn this important information by working in groups to
create and present Native American projects. These projects will outline the importance
of the difference in Native American culture by introducing the children to different
foods, languages, song/dance, games, and ways of life. This will be completed with a
95% accuracy.
S- Method -Research will continue. As a class we will experience Music as it was known
to Native Americans. I will play a YouTube video that shows the difference between
today’s music/dance and that of Native Americans. I will encourage the children to
dance and enjoy the music. I will then introduce them to different types of Native
American games. They will be allowed to experience the different games through play
Media- Information during this lesson will be available on YouTube.com. I will also
create a QR code that will be posted to our class sites that link the children directly to
the video.
Materials – Materials for the games will be made available. I will have prepared different
games in advance for the children to experience.
U- I will prepare and explain all games to be used by children. The play of games will be
for educational reasons.
R- Participation will be required through viewing of the video, discussing music/dance,
and the involvement during the game time.
E- I will assess student learning by evaluating their group presentations. I will also
periodically evaluate my students based on participation during activities, and
involvement during class discussions.
