ASSURE Method Assignment (Scenario #2)
Analyze Learners
This lesson is for 4th grade students. There are twenty students total; eleven are
female and nine are male. The students come from a variety of cultural and religious
backgrounds. There are two Muslim students, three Jewish students, and two African
American students. The class includes students of all learning styles. This will require a
variety of teaching methods. The students have knowledge of the holidays that they
celebrate but may have little to no knowledge of holidays that they do not celebrate.
State Objectives
After a five-week period, the students will differentiate the holidays that they
have studied and the traditions that go along with them based on the season in which they
occur with a 90% rate of accuracy by watching videos about the traditions, listening to
music, participating in show and tell with an object important to their own tradition, and
partner presentations about the traditions of the holiday they are assigned, as well as
listening to their classmates’ presentations.
Select Methods, Media, and Materials
The students will meet the objective by watching videos about the traditions,
listening to music, participating in show and tell, and presenting the traditions of a
holiday that they do not celebrate with a partner as well as listening to their classmates’
presentations. This lesson will include several media aspects such as video, computer
research, music, and show and tell. Materials needed include the objects for show and
tell, which will be brought by the student.
Utilize Media and Materials
Preparation for this lesson will include finding appropriate videos, photos, and
music and preparing students about the activities required.
Require Learner Participation
Learner participation will be required when participating in show and tell and
partner presentations.
