A- Analyze Learners 
Teaching Holiday Traditions to 4th graders. There are 20 students 11 girls, and 9 boys. 
There are 2 Muslims, 3 Jewish, and 2 African Americans. 
S- State Objectives 
The objective of this is to teach 4th graders Holiday Traditions. My focus for the students 
to learn about is American Christmas, African American Kwanzaa, Jewish Hanukkah, 
Muslim Eid Ul Fir and Eid Ul Adha. I want the class to know and understand the 
different activities and history of these holidays. The groups will be broken the following 
ways. There will be 4 groups of 5. Group one will have 3 American students, 1 Muslim, 1 
Jewish they will be researching Kwanzaa. Group two will have 3 American students , 1 
African American, 1 Jewish student they will have the Eid Ul Fir and Eid Ul Adha. Group 
three will have 3 American Students, 2 Jewish student and they will have Christmas. 
Group four will be 3 American students, 1 Muslim student, 1 African American student 
they will have Hanukkah. They will know how it came about and is celebrated. They will 
also understand why these are holidays. By the end of the lesson they will be able to tell 
the classroom in groups of 4 about the specific holiday they have been assigned. The 
groups will all have different cultured holidays to learn about. The outcome of the 
lesson will be based on utilization of websites, youtube videos, songs, storytelling, 
webquests, podcasts, and activities in the classroom. They will know Holiday Traditions 
by the end of the month with 80% accuracy.

They will watch videos on the history of the holiday they are assigned. They will learn songs for 
the culture they are assigned that tells information about holiday traditions. They will watch and 
listen to people tell stories of traditions on the internet. They will be making crafts in the 
classroom for hands on activities. They will learn and perform a play as a whole class. It will be 
an around the world play. The students will complete a webquest. They will listen to podcasts. 
They will use websites to research the holiday. 
R- Require Learner Participation 
The kids will be completing a webquest. The will also be in a play about different holiday culture. 
They will have to present what information they have found on the holiday each group was 
assigned to the rest of the classroom at the end of the unit. They will have a quiz at the 
beginning of the unit on the different holiday cultures. 
E- Evaluate and Revise 
Before the unit I will give a quiz about all four holiday traditions to see how much they 
know about each. During the unit each culture of students will get together to tell 
traditions of their own holiday they celebrate to the rest of the class. They will verbally 
quiz they class after each have presented about their culture. After the lesson they will 
have learned all about the different traditions and be able to present about them with 
their group. They will get to decide how they want to present it. To revise they will then 
have to collectively help write a play about all four cultures holiday. They will perform it 
after practice to the school.
