Assure Method
Analyze The Learner- Teaching significant changes during the Industrial Revolution to a 5th
grade class. 12 boys, 8 girls, 60% white 30% African-American and 10% Hispanic. 3 students in
the class have an IEP.
State Objectives- After a class discussion, my 5th grade students will be able to summarize and
explain the main ideas of the Industrial Revolution. After participating in the class discussion
and watching a YouTube video regarding child labor during the Industrial revolution, my
students will be able to share with myself and their classmates what the Industrial Revolution is,
and how different children were treated during that time period. My student will be able to list
and explain 5 significant changes, events and inventions that greatly impacted society with a
98% accuracy rate after one week.
Select Methods, Media and Materials- On the 4th day, my student’s will continue to work on
their poster and web quest assignments that are due on day 5 of the unit plan. They wil be
required to update their blogs on blogster.com so that they can update their classmates and peers
on their expectations and questions regarding presentations. Since the students will continue to
work on their online assignments, there will be no new media and materials used on day four.
Utilize Media and Materials- I will begin teaching the lesson by reviewing what we were
working on the previous days and remind the class that the projects and presentations are the
following day. The 4th day of my unit plan is directed towards finishing up the big projects and
reviewing what all we have learned throughout the week.
Require Learner Participation- All students will be required to participate in their groups to
finish their web quest assignments along with their posters promoting and marketing their group
invention.
Evaluate and Revise- I will evaluate and assess the students on their participation in class along
with their creativity and effort in creating the posters. I will continue to walk around daily to
answer any questions the students may have regarding the upcoming due dates.
