Assure Method 
Analyze The Learner- Teaching significant changes during the Industrial Revolution to a 5th 
grade class. 12 boys, 8 girls, 60% white 30% African-American and 10% Hispanic. 3 students in 
the class have an IEP. 
State Objectives- After a class discussion, my 5th grade students will be able to summarize and 
explain the main ideas of the Industrial Revolution. After participating in the class discussion 
and watching a YouTube video regarding child labor during the Industrial revolution, my 
students will be able to share with myself and their classmates what the Industrial Revolution is, 
and how different children were treated during that time period. My student will be able to list 
and explain 5 significant changes, events and inventions that greatly impacted society with a 
98% accuracy rate after one week. 
Select Methods, Media and Materials- I will teach my students online blogging along with I 
will introduce my students to the Industrial Revolution using a YouTube video, and discussion 
based on prior knowledge and understanding to get an idea of what they know, and what I need 
to help them improve on and what they need to know. I will need iPads for the students to update 
their blogs with during clss.. 
Utilize Media and Materials- I will introduce the class to Child Labor in the Industrial 
Revolution by showing a YouTube video that discusses Child Labor and working conditions 
during the Industrial Revolution. After watching the video we will discuss the differences 
between their childhood and personal responsibilities, compared to what we watched in the 
video. After the discussion, each student will be assigned to write about their personal opinion on
child labor using blogster.com. Are you for or against young children working in unsafe 
conditions? Why or why not? The students will compare pros and cons of children working at a 
young age, and then compare their personal lives to those kids who were working during the 
Industrial Revolution 
Require Learner Participation- All students will be required to create a free blogster account 
using blogster.com to participate in class activities. Students will be required to participate in the 
class discussion. My students will also be required to create their journal entries regarding the 
topic. 
Evaluate and Revise- Throughout day one of my Industrial Revolution Unit plan, I will walk 
through the classroom while my students create their journal entries in case any of my students 
have any questions regarding child labor or what we discussed in class. I will also call students 
up to my desk one at a time to discuss their final journal entry and have a one on one assessment 
with the student regarding their understanding of the material.
