ASSURE LESSON PLAN
A  Analyze Learners
-Teaching 4th graders about Holiday Traditions.
-20 students: 11 girls, 9 boys.
-2 Muslim Students.
-3 Jewish Students.
-2 African American Students.
S  State Objectives
-A: Audience- 20 4th graders with a variation of cultures.
-B: Behavior- To learn about different Holiday Traditions from different cultures.
-C: Conditions- With pictures and auditory explanation as well as student’s own
personal accounts due to the class’s varied cultures.
-D: Degree- 100%
Objective: Students will describe and recognize different Holiday Traditions by way of
pictures, explanations, of varied holidays, as well as auditory explanation, and student’s own
personal accounts of Holiday Traditions which they take place in. Students will learn and obtain
the information presented to them by the end of the week with 100% accuracy.
S  Select Methods, Media, and Materials
-Method: Break class into two groups each group having at least one child of a
different culture.
-Media: Computers, Videos, Personal Accounts.
-Materials: Paper, Pen, Computers, Brain.
U Utilize Media and Materials
-Get computer lab checked put or if computers are in your room make sure to get
them ready to be used.
-Make sure video is suitable to be watched and make sure you have something to
watch that video on.
-Make time schedule or have a rough idea of which direction you want your class
to head toward.  Go through mock class in your head.
R  Require Learner Participation
-Have class break into two groups with each group having at least one child of a
different culture.
-Have each child discuss their Holiday Tradition in which they carry out every
year while I the teacher oversee the two groups bouncing back and forth between each group
answering questions and evaluating them as the class goes on and how they help each other and
teach each other Holiday Traditions.
-Next, bring the class back together for some sort of video explaining Holiday
Traditions throughout the world with specific examples such as: Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanza,
Ramadan, Thanksgiving, Yom Kippur, etc!
-Then let the kids break off into pairs or threes and browse the computers to learn
more about the holidays that they aren’t very sure about.
-Bring the class back together once again and have each student state a fact about
a new holiday that they did know about before.
E  Evaluate and Revise
-Assess children on their ability to work together, to help each other, to recite new
facts about the new holiday they learned about and had yet to know about, and finally on their
attentiveness and participation.
