1. ASSURE METHOD
A – Analyze Learners: Begin by assessing the current knowledge of the diverse
student base. Get the students involved by asking them to share some of their
family and cultural holiday traditions.
S –State Objective:
A) Culturally diverse 4th
grade students
B) The students will identify the different cultural customs of
holiday traditions
C) Through the use of melody, visual aid, stories, games, and
through taste
D) 100% accuracy by the end of the 9 week grading period
S – Select Methods, Media, and Materials: Use of printed material such as
stories and cultural background documents, sensory materials such as traditional
clothing, music, games, and holiday foods.
U – Utilize Media and Materials: Prepare by reading and/or viewing material,
bring in visual aids and tangible items.
R – Require Learner Participation: Promote classroom interaction through
discuss and question sessions. Promote student and family involvement by
preparing a class room party where students are encouraged to bring in traditional
holiday dishes and games.
E – Evaluate and Revise: Asses students by random questioning during in class
activities and group discussions to determine what methods, media, and material
are most efficient, did the students retain the knowledge, where they motivated,
where they actively engaged in the lessons and activities.
