Students are new immigrants to the United States who will likely learn best through auditory and kinesthetic methods due to potential visual impairments. Objectives are for students to recognize and categorize 4th of July activities by listening to lectures, participating in traditional foods, songs, and discussions to compare American and Russian cultures with 70% accuracy within 3-5 days. Methods will include teacher lectures, group activities, listening to songs on YouTube and radio, and sharing traditional foods. The classroom will be arranged to allow group work and filled with smells and sounds of typical 4th of July foods and music. A. Analyze Learners--- Students are new to the country, being new to the United States. These
students will most likely be auditory and kinesthetic learners due to visual impairments. Students
range in age will display different levels of comprehension at various times.
S. State Objectives--- Students will be able to recognize and categorize activities and their
characteristics during the fourth of July by: listening to lectures, participate in eating traditional
holiday foods, listen to songs, participating in group discussions, and comparing holiday
activities between American and Russian culture with 70% accuracy within 3-5 school days.
S. Select Methods, Media, Materials---The methods used will be teacher lectures, group
activities, auditory listening to songs, and group participation in traditional foods. The media
used here will be teacher lecture, YouTube and radio songs, and grills. Materials needed will be
food, mp3 songs, and lecture notes.
U. Utilize Media and Materials---The classroom will be filled with various smells of forth of July
foods such as barbeque, hotdogs, hamburgers, etc. with songs like the national anthem and God
Bless the USA. Desks will be set up in circle or group setting to allow group discussions.
R. Require Learner Participation—Students will be required to be involved with group
discussions about the activities going on as well as encouraged to ask questions about anything
interesting or confusing to the individual. Listening to the material, participating in the activities
will allow students to have a variety of methods to help learn the material. Lastly, there will be
informal auditory questionnaires and discussions to assess the students progress.

2. E. Evaluate and Revise--- To assess the students I will give a pre and post lesson interviews to
asses any prior knowledge and a post interview to assess how much information the student has
retained and applied to the holiday. Throughout the week I would informally using auditory
questionnaires to see if progress is being made.
