3-Teaching Activities of the fourth of July to Russian students that just arrived to
the United States (they do speak English) , ages 10 to 19, 15 in total ….8 males

A-Analyze Learners
Given: Russian students that just arrived to the United States, they speak English,
aged 10-19, 15 students in total… 8 male/7female. They are all vision impaired.
S-State Objectives
The students will describe various Fourth of July festivities after listening to a
lecture, listening to audio recordings, touching objects associated to the Fourth of
July, and presenting their own Fourth of July celebration plan in groups by the end
of the week with 100% accuracy.
S-SelectMethods, Media and Materials
PowerPoint, audio recordings, YouTube, small American flag, textured model of
the American flag, pop rock candies, and students will work in groups of 3.
U-Utilize Media and Materials
PowerPoint will be used, not for notes or visual learning, but for links to different
audio recordings and YouTube videos to describe Fourth of July celebration
sounds. Forpart of a day, there can be a short video describing the history of
American Independence Day and there can be a discussionabout how American
Independence is similar to Russian Independence Day, both history and in
celebrations. Also, have a small American flag they can hold and feel, as well as
create a model so they can feel different textures for the stars and stripes. Lastly,
the students will be put in groups of 3 with similar ages, and create their own

2. Fourth of July celebration plan. Then they will each present to the class on Friday
what their plan is and why they chosethe activities they did.
R- Require Learner Participation
The students will stay engaged in the lesson by making comparisons from what
they know of Russian Independence Day and American Independence Day
during the class discussion. There will also be a hands on activity for students to
feel various objects, like the American flags and pop rockcandies. They will
also collaborate in their groups and be creative when planning their group’s
Fourth of July celebration. Groups will have to explain why they chosethe
activities they plan.
E-Evaluate and Revise
The evaluation is taken when students present their Fourth of July events and
their personal reasons for choosing those. Students who explain their reasons
behind their choices shows critical thinking and mastery. If students randomly
pick activities and do not understand what the Fourth of July is, then I need to
revise and teach the lesson in a different way.
