1. Web 2.0---Facebook
Web 2.0 is supposed to represent the new and improved World Wide Web. To be a web
2.0 application it has to be free and allows one to have interaction in real time and allow
collaboration; Facebook meets those qualifications. Facebook, in my opinion is one of the most
user-friendly social media apps out there. You can use Facebook to post status updates (what
you’re up to), post pictures, songs, videos, post events and so much more. Ideally Facebook is
open for anyone to use who is 18 or older; however, younger kids can use it as well. Facebook
provides collaborations as people can message each other back and forth, join groups and see
upcoming events. Now there are even ways to video conference with friends or co-workers.
These messaging systems allow for real time and personable interactions. Teachers can even
create a “teacher page” where you can create groups for each class. There the teacher can share
photos of what is going on in the class room, publish notes or lectures, make updates for
assignment due dates etc., videos and so much more. This would allow applications such as
flipping the classroom, allowing parents to be involved, as well as allowing the students to keep
up with what is going on. This is a great tool as since almost all students have an account and use
Facebook a lot anyway this allows learning to become personable to the students.
