1. Goal: The purpose of this design is to
communicate two things to my
audience that will increase their
likeliness of purchasing a yearbook.
The first is that the yearbook can be
personalized into a family album and
the second is that purchasing one will
keep memories that will last a lifetime.
Audience: Parents and students
attending CLASS Academy
Message: When my audience
finishes viewing my design I want
them to know that they can customize
their own personal yearbook and it is
a great way to preserve valuable
memories.
2. It’s not JUST
a yearbook!
When you hear yearbook, you think...
Mug shots and class photos...
It’s a Family
Photo Album,
Too!
Now you can personalize your
own pages to add to your
yearbook! You’ll never forget that
family vacation to Hawaii in 5th
grade!
3. The previous slide is way too busy.
I failed to meet the principles of
alignment, repetition and
consistency. My color scheme is
dull and nothing about the flow
makes the readers want to
continue.
The next slide is enhanced through
proper alignment and repetition of
font. It is still too busy and the
number of pictures does not
enhance the message.
4. It wouldn’t get so
dusty if it was a
family photo
album, too!
Everyone has a
dusty pile of grade
school yearbooks.
With personalized pages you’ll never
forget that family vacation to Hawaii
in 3rd grade!

6. Here is my final design. I chose an antique looking
theme which can be seen in the faded lettering, the
dusty book and the font type. My fonts are
contrasting in both style and color. I used repetition
with the colored circle and red color. Overall, this
was not how I anticipated my design to look in the
beginning, but I think it effectively morphed into a
design that communicates my goals and message.
Editor's Notes
This was my first and original design.
I changed the contrast of the background to a lighter color that is easier on the eyes. I think this contrast is more effective because it is a bigger contrast between the colors and makes the font more readable and the images stand out more.
