Background
Perhaps one of the biggest challenges for mega construction
project ‘asset-intensive industry’ is how to effectively manage all
different types of assets without creating a huge management
workload that erodes the bottom line.
• Today, fleet managers and maintenance officers must make

Preventive Maintenance: periodic maintenance, recursive approach, equipment is
not fit unless proven otherwise.
Pros:
• Reduced risk of collateral damage and catastrophic failures
• “Guess” estimation of cost ahead of time
• Scheduled maintenance schemes with limited positive impact on
spare part availability, procurement planning and inventory visibility
Cons:
• Still there is a room for unexpected/exceptional breakdowns
• Equipment might undergo maintenance “down” while it is fit
• OPEX $$
