Are Sports Good For Children
Some think that sports are good for children because they help with making friends and it helps
they children with school and their grades. But, others think that it is a bad thing for children
some people say that it costs too much or they don t want the risk of getting injured. This is an
issue that needs to be solved. Should we let children play sports or should they not.? Some sports
put s too much pressure on some youths and injuries are at high risks to happen to youths. One
reason that sports are negative because a lot of pressure goes onto the children and most injuries
happen during some youth sports. In the article Listening to Wisdom From a 10 Year Old Boy

This proves that some children and youths don t have the confidence to go out and play weather
they don t think they are good or they don t think that they are skinny enough. And that they just

when it comes to sports and it needs to be taking seriously, if they have never had one before
they would not know what if will feel like. It is clear that some sports are good for youths but
most sports aren t, since it causes injuries some most sports cause too much pressure. The reason
that the evidence and the claim are important because it explains what is the good and bad parts of
sports. Both sides are still taking about sports and what are the benefits and the disagreements are
the benefits is that they would make new friend and stay in the sport, but the bad thing is that they
may not enjoy the sport and they may just want to quit. Parents should not pressure the child so

The American Dream By John Winthrop
What is the American Dream ? The American Dream has always been characterized by a thriving
job market, opportunities for advancement, stability, etc. It is the pursuit of individual
achievement without consideration for moral or legal restrictions (Angulski, 2013). This idea
dates back as far as 1630 to the puritan colonists. It was first established within a sermon given
by John Winthrop while sailing to Massachusetts. This sermon set into motion the ideals that we
have adapted today enveloping the American Dream . From then on Americans put their faith in
the theory that if you work hard and do the right thing you will manifest your goals and
eventually attain success and comfortability. The dream of the time was to live in a land where
there existed a right to religious freedom and opportunity. This ideal has stuck to this day,
however the validity may is no longer intact. The American Dream is a mere afterthought within
today s society, overtaken by massive debt and loss of opportunity. The American Dream is the
greatest asset we as a country possess, the fact that people from across the world still want to
come to America to fulfill their dreams, to join a society that they see as dynamic, exciting, and
full of potential, is a testament to the great potential of America to improve lives and offer
opportunity for all (Ross, 2016). America is a substantially different world now than it was at the
time of the initial American Dream . The optimism of the

Leadership Is Effective And Ineffective
Notes:
Explain what leadership is, when leaders are effective and ineffective, and the sources of power
that enable managers to be effective leaders
Leadership is effective positive influence by inspiring, motivating and directing other effectively. To
achieve the goals of the organization and their personal goal. Effective leadership is the process by
which leaders increase the organizations ability to eliminate barriers and enhance engagements.
According to our text, Leaders are influential by use of Power. The academic term for power is
getting others to accomplish a goal individually or in a group. In theory, Leaders are effective by
the way they affect others. Legitimate, Reward, Coercive, Expert and Referent power are all
textbook terms to explain how leaders engage others to meet organizational goals. Whether, hiring
or firing, bonuses, reprimand, technical expertise and character or respect of the leader.
In my opinion, Exact Networking replaces power in the post modern era. Which includes a high
level of empowerment. Shareholders and stakeholders whom have greater knowledge, training and
decisive decision making ability are able to perform without very little leadership. Engagements are
based on engagements to the organization, which is determined by leadership strategies.

Advertising In Advertising
Advertisements have come up with schemes to manipulate just about anybody into buying their
products. They use multiple methods to draw in consumers just by how they word their
slogans, photoshop their ads , and who they use to promote their products. Ads use weasel
words to change the meaning of their slogans. Weasel words are words that make ads sound as if
they re making claims when they re basically saying nothing at all. Their technique is to make
the audience believe their products can do exactly what they say they do. They manipulate their
audience by making it look like they re making claims that their products work, but it s not
always true. Ads use photoshop to give the illusion of perfection. This makes the audience
believe that if they buy what the ad is advertising, they will look a certain way. When ads use
popular celebrities to promote their products, it makes fans that look up to them want to use
those same products. Olay uses techniques to make their audience believe their products are
efficient by using manipulative claims, photoshop, or well known celebrities. Olay carries a
product that s supposed to clear up skin, labeled PROX Clear. The ad for this product includes
an image of a young light skinned woman. Her skin appears to be flawless and glowing. She is a
brunette with brown eyes. In the foreground of the picture is the golden box the product is
packaged in and three white bottles. The heading of the ad says, Olay Professional PROX Clear.

Robert Frost Reconsidering Perspectives
Discoveries often require individuals to reconsider their perspective and develop a new
understanding of the world around them. Examine this statement in relation to your prescribed
text and ONE related text. Often, discoveries can demand a re evaluation of one s outlook on
life. Arguably, the process of reconsidering perspectives is a way of making sense of the world
and coming to terms with confronting realities. This is examined throughout Robert Frost s poetic
texts Stopping by woods on a snowy evening (SBW) and the Tuft of Flowers (TTOF) and Sean
Penn s film, Into the Wild (ITW). Here the composers criticise the varied ramifications of emotional

consumers and society? What are these responsibilities and how well has Mattel met them? Provide
evidence of Mattel s strengths and weaknesses in this area.
Yes. As Mattel s products are designed primarily for children, it must be sensitive to societal
concerns about children s rights.

Lack of total control over business partners
Though Mattel has embarked on the Global manufacturing Principles (GMP) and regular social
audits, Mattel cannot intensively monitor the business processes and activities of its partners. There
is no guarantee that its business partners will completely comply with Mattel s corporate social
responsibility (CSR), ethical business conducts and product safety requirements. Mattel somehow

Rose For Emily Foreshadowing
In both short stories A Rose for Emily and Barn Burning both written by William Faulkner, the
point of view is one of the areas where the two stories bare a similarity. This point of view allows
the reader ample time to analyze the various clues provided by the narrator, to discover the final
outcome. In addition, the use of clues, or foreshadowing is another similarity found in both
stories. Although, the point of view and the use of foreshadowing is similar, the delivery of these
elements are not. In A Rose for Emily the narrator uses a first person plural (community/group)
point of view in which those telling the story have a limited perspective compared to Barn Burning

In fact, the story opens from the first person plural When Miss Emily Grierson died, our whole
town went to her funeral: the men through a sort of respectful affection for a fallen monument,
the women mostly out of curiosity to see the inside of her house, which no one save an old man
servant a combined gardener and cook had seen in at least ten years. (Section 1 1) Instead of
using facts through direct observation, personal relationships or hands on experience; gossip,
hearsay and rumors are used to tell the story. For example, the townspeople speculate on Emily s
relationship with Homer; At first we were glad that Miss Emily would have an interest, because
the ladies all said, Of course a Grierson would not think seriously of a Northerner, a day laborer.
(Section 3 31) Another example, is the narrator s portrayal of Homer as a homosexual or an
eternal bachelor. Then we said, She will persuade him yet, because Homer himself had remarked
he liked men, and it was known that he drank with the younger men in the Elks Club that he was
not a marrying man. (Section 4 43) There s also the matter of the poison; So the next day we all
said, She will kill herself ; and we said it would be the best thing. (Section 4 43) Then there s

Differences And Similaristics Of Greek And Roman Architecture
Greek and Roman civilizations have created some of the most inveterate and meaningful images in
history. The art of building that arouse on the shores of the Aegean Sea and flourished at the ancient

ratios. And as any two consecutive, greatly attached civilizations .there are many points of
comparisons regarding their building types, building techniques, materials and art. As long as the
presence of differences there are many similarities that actually exist.
If we started with the similarities between them, we would find out that they both concerned about
symmetry, using stonework (marble), columns, and esplanades. They brought up numerous statues
and esteemed the human compose. Although difference between Greek and Roman architecture
are not so clear for some, they look alike in many things. However, it does not mean lack of

Time Is Time Essay
THE TRUTH ABOUT TIME
The strongest of all the warriors are these two time and patience: Leo Tolstoy
TIME IS LIFE:
First I will elaborate on the concept of time. Time is the most valuable resource that any person can
possess. Time equals life.
I know that this sounds simple but most people don t realize the significance of either time or life.
That is, your time in this world starts from the moment you came in this world and it ends the
moment you stop breathing.
So, what is meant by the statement that your time is over it actually means your life is over.
Therefore, time is life.
Significance of time in relation to life:
Time like any other resource is depleting very fast, therefore, its up to the individual himself that he
utilizes it both ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dimensions/classification of time:
One important thing to remember especially for people who believe that time is always at their
disposal is that time wasted will never come back. This signifies the importance that time can be
explained in three ways: past, present and future.
While remembering the past or dreaming about the future is good, sometimes, the best way to
make use of your time is living in the present or living in the moment. You see that you can do
nothing about your past, its already gone plus it will never come back but the next best thing to do
is learn lessons from your past, whether it be learning from your mistakes or learning from your
failures.
Build your future, realize your dreams:
Also, stop worrying about the future, nobody in this universe has control over their future plus
nobody knows where they will end up or what will happen tomorrow.
But still that doesn t mean that you forget your dreams, your future; what it means is that you
build your future, one day at a time. So, if you want to be successful plus live the life of your
dreams, focus your energies by putting your heart and soul into your work on daily

Racial Ideologies in Frederick Douglass and Linda Brent s Narratives 4) Slavery was justified by
racial ideology. Consider three texts, including one that was written by a former slave. How do the
authors either replicate or refute racial ideologies common in the nineteenth century?
I am going to focus on the narratives of Frederick Douglass and Linda Brent as examples of a
refusal of racial ideologies and Harriet Beecher Stowe s Uncle Tom s Cabin as an example of
replicating (although attempting to refute) racial ideologies of the day. Douglass s Narrative and
Brent s Incidents follow them from ignorance to knowledge; knowledge and freedom gained

. . as the author s attempts to enter . . . into Society: by (re )writing him or herself, and thus placing
that self into the tradition of American autobiography, s/he provides proof of American identity (91).
This can be seen in Douglass s constant quest for knowledge. In the beginning, he focuses on his
total ignorance so that throughout the narrative, it is easy for the reader to understand the progress
he has been making. The best example of the mind requiring liberation before the body is Douglass
s fight with Covey.
This man mentally abuses his slaves by making them fear his constant watch. The fear is a direct
result of the threat of punishment if they do not adhere to his strict rules: they will be beat. In
beating his slaves, Covey turns them into just another body; he never sees their mind. Douglass
wants to be move than just another body. He needs to free his mind in order to free his body. In
order to gain his freedom, Douglass must use his body and physically fight Covey. Through this
fight, he frees his mind of the fear of ever being whipped again. Douglass claims that he was never
again what might be called fairly whipped, though I remained a slave four years afterwards (43).
Through this episode, Douglass proves that first the mind must be liberated, and the body will
eventually (maybe not immediately) follow.
The relationship between the body and

Romeo And Juliet Character Analysis
A foil is a character that is used to enhance the characteristics of another character (most likely
the story s protagonist) by a clear contrast between the two characters. To help bring the
characters in Romeo and Juliet to life, William Shakespeare creates foils to compare his main
characters to and show why they are better or a better couple in the case of Romeo and Juliet.
While some of the foil characters are obvious, like in the case of Romeo and Paris, or Juliet and
Rosaline, in other cases it s harder to see the contrast and the significance, as in the case of Romeo
and Mercutio. The role of the foil characters in Romeo and Julietis also to show what could have
happened if the protagonists had made different choices. Throughout Romeo and Juliet it is
made clear that Romeo and Paris are foils as the both are in love Juliet and wish to marry her.
However this often leads people to forgetting about Mercutio and his clear contrast with Romeo.
We see their differing opinions clearly in Act 1, Scene 4, in which Mercutio tries to persuade
Romeo to join them in crashing the Capulet s feast. Romeo takes love very seriously, pining and
yearning for Rosaline, while Mercutio treats love as a joke and something to be wary of. When
Romeo says he cannot join them because he feels too heavy hearted, Mercutio tells Romeo to
borrow Cupid s wings, And soar with them above a common bound (1.4.18 19) Furthermore, when
Romeo argues that love is rough, rude, boist rous, and

Martin Luther s Impact On The Catholic Church
This essay will be about the changes that were made prior to the Reformation. Martin Luther was
one of the main people who had made a significant impact for the Catholic Church that changed
many people s lives for the better. Some people didn t agree with what Martin Luther s actions, or
what he had to say. Many people also loved what he did, and they are still thanking him today.
These changes and important factors that will be explained throughout the essay.
The 95 These was the most significant impacts that Martin Luther had made. The 95 Theses were
written in 1517 and it challenged the teachings and the indulgences of the catholic Church at the
time (Theopedia.com, 2016). Martin Luther felt as though that the Church officials were teaching
the public that they could literally buy their way into the kingdom of God (GotQuestions.org,
2016), for example some people truly believed that if you bought something like a piece of paper,
it was like a ticket straight into heaven. He nailed the 95 Theses on the gate of the Wittenberg
Church, this caught people s attention and shortly enough it started a theological debate; this then
lead to the Reformation. The 96 Theses got people thinking, and agreeing with what Martin Luther
had to say. He strongly disagreed with the fact that people were being punished/abused for

Distopian is a society or place that is unpleasant and bad. Dystopian movies are often based on
themes that play out in the real world. The dystopian movie I am Legend by Francis Lawrence
has a theme of Loss of Humanity. I am Legend is about a woman who spread around a cure or
virus saying it was the cureto cancer. The cure that was said to be the cure to cancer killed everyone
on the island. Dr. Robert Neville is trying to find a cure to the virus that affected the the entire

Robert Neville about his own personal destiny. Also, it the butterfly goes back to show him that

My Memories
One of my earliest memories, as a young child growing up in the 1960s and 1970s, was the visits
to my Nan s home in south Ealing, west London.
My family had moved from London to live in the seaside town of Weston super Mare in the mid
1960s. We had travelled to Weston by steam train but on returning to London for a visit, by the end
of the 1960s, the coal eating steam trains were out and the odorous smell of diesel trains were in.
The same steam engine carriages were still in use and were made up of individual compartments;
my family of nine took up an entire compartment.
Nan s food larder was always well stocked for our visits; filled with goodies like Spam, corned
beef, Piccalilli etc. At Nan s house, unlike at home, I got the opportunity of sampling such
delicacies like Spamish omelette and Spam fritters. Sounds exotic? Yes, to me they were. I love
Piccalilli; it s the kind of stuff that never entered my home back in the 1960s, too weird, too
foreign. Whenever I see Piccalilli it always reminds me of Nan.
My large family would have been pretty boisterous and quite a handful for a woman, who
normally lived on her own, to put up with; an invasion of bodies filling every room of her
Victorian terraced house.
I loved my Nan s cooking; it was tasty and wholesome, definitely much more delicious than the
offerings at home. Besides the great British favourites, like Spam and corned beef, I think the food
I experienced in London was exotic because it was diverse and

Local Area Networks (LANs) Essay
Local area networks (LANs).
DEFINITION
The concept of local area networks (LANs) is not new. It represents a logical development of
computer technology. With the advent of microcomputers in the 1980s many office workers began
bringing their own disks into work, compromising data integrity. They also began keeping their
own databases, which companies did not like. The answer was to create a computer network.
A computer network is a group of computers connected together enabling users to share resources
and communicate with each other. Resources can be hardware, software, or data. Without a
network, each employee might require a dedicated printer connected to his workstation or
individual copies of application software ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The cost for each wireless node is generally higher than a conventional LAN node.
LAN devices
Today, LANs use sophisticated programs that permit several users to work with the same
resources at the same time. This can include hard disk drives, printers, plotters, software, etc.
LANs are composed of various components performing specific tasks so each user can access
shared resources. Generally, every component in a network is called a node. Each node is further
identified by the specific task it performs. A user s node is called a terminal or a workstation. This
can be a
dumb device, meaning it has no operating system, just a monitor and keyboard, or a smart node,
meaning it can do it s own computing because of an internal central processor.
A server is a node on the network that provides services to the users of that network. A server
will manage hardware and software resources or monitor the exchange of information through a
network. Each server will respond to the requests of a user and provide a service, like printing a
document or retrieving a stored file. There are two basic types of servers: Dedicated and Non
dedicated. A dedicated server performs a specific task or function all the time where as a non
dedicated server functions in other capacities. A network with servers that are strictly dedicated is
called a Client Server Network.
A network where services are provided by user s

Columbus State University is my first choice school. Aside from the prepossessing campus, the

understanding the world. Many children, while I was growing up, dreamed of being actresses,
pop stars, or princesses, but I always dreamed of being a scientist. I want to eventually fulfill this
dream by becoming a pharmacist. My belief is that Columbus State University will give me a
notable basis for this goal to be fulfilled because of its class size and research program. Columbus

ad is directed toward the male population, Dr. Pepper revealed this ad in a comical way. In the ad,
the man was walking in the woods eating a piece of wood. Also, during the entirety of the ad,
one may agree to the statement that the background music was a way to exploit comedic relief
while disclosing the sexist information. The music was intended to ease the tension one may
have felt from this ad. The logic behind the comedic relief was to express a very sexist message
in a humorous way in order to keep peace within the society. One may agree that the ad was
executed perfectly by breaking the fourth wall; the bearded man stared directly at the camera
and smiled which indicated that the ad was formed for entertainment purposes, but also to
express a message in a non offending manner. Stereotyping men to be manly and strong looking
was an excellent method to grab ahold of the men in life that consists of a nine to five day jobs,
have kids to take care of, and wives they must please in order to maintain balance and peace
within the house. This ad was stereotyped to the demographic of men because women already
have their own niche drink, Diet Dr. Pepper. Men also need their own niche drink that contains
calories and exclusive to men. If Dr. Pepper

Human Prostitution And Human Trafficking
Horrifying, simply horrifying. The reading was difficult. I must say I was not surprised by it
though. The situations mentioned in the text are all too familiar to me. I used to volunteer at
children s homes, as well as homeless shelters. I heard all the stories of human trafficking and
prostitution in children. I meet the girls and I got to know the victims. My heart broke for them.
I remember one little girl by the name of Andy that started prostitution at the age of 12 and then
was almost killed. It is a sick thing. Reading this makes me mad, but anger without action is of
no use. I do not believe that everyone is called to be a cop and try to confront it personally like
many of the cops did in the text. I think that everyone is called to

Essay on Problems with Eyewitness Testimony
Eyewitness testimony has been used for many centuries and continues to be a part of our criminal
justice system. Although, there has been many controversy debates on whether to allow the
continuation of these testimonies in court, and allow it to be used as evidence. Eyewitness
testimony can either be harmful or useful for an individual. We must fully analysis and see what
certain factors (psychological, and age wise) come into the equation before coming up with final
conclusions. A case study titled Problems with Eyewitness Testimony talks about a famous
Canadian case in which a 14 years old boy named Steven Truscott, was convicted in 1959 of rape
and murder of a 12 years old, Lynne Harper. It was later found that the conviction was... Show more

A 10 year old boy will unfortunately become a victim quickly to these errors. Taking into
consideration that his recollection of that night wasn t any useful in court. When given the
option, it is likely he will go with the option that makes seems justified. Does this mean that all
children have faulty memories? Absolutely not, but their age does have an influence. According
to child development expert, Dr. Steven Ceci. Children s intake on memories is different from
adults. It factors down to the child s past knowledge of things and whether they can extract real
memories rather than created false ones. Knowing this we still can t deem a child s memory to
be as credible as an adults. A case in 2002, where a 5 year old girl was abducted in front of her
home in Stanton, California. Sarah Ahn, a 6 year old child was the only witness to the crime.
Ceci also said there are times when a child can be a lot more accurate than an adult. This
contradicts the point of a child s memory not being as credible and in this case, it supports what
Dr. Steven Ceci was saying. Sarah Ahn, fit into this exception of being accurate. She was able to
give a detailed description of the suspect and his car, that a few days later the authorities attained
the suspect. Although we still need to proceed with caution and not rely on child s testimonies,
because a child s mind can be manipulated to implant a false memory. (Web 3) Psychologists

Essay On Breast Cancer
Breast Cancer
In 2016, breast cancer was the commonest diagnosed cancer in women with 17 million cases
diagnosed and a resultant 5 million deaths. In the Western world, improved treatments and
screening programmes have resulted in a 5 year survival of 80 90% (WHO, 2016). However, a
third of breast cancer patients are found to have distant metastases at diagnosis, bringing their 5
year survival rate down by 25% (Siegel et al., 2004). Metastasis occurs when tumour cells travel
through the vascular or lymphatic system and grow in distant organs, commonly bone, lung, liver
and brain.
Current treatment involves surgical removal of the visible tumour bulk followed by chemo and
radio therapy targeting distant spread. Breast cancer is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Tumour Micro environment
The tumour stroma appears to be a major factor in tumour progression after initial tumour formation
(Conklin and Keely, 2007). It initially protects against tumourigenesis; but neoplastic cells cause
changes and recruit various other cell lines with a multitude of functions, forming a tumour micro
environment (TME). This is defined as a heterogeneous population of cells consisting of the tumor
bulk plus supporting cells (Bussard et al., 2006). The tumour cells recruit the stroma cells and cause
a reactive phenotype, known as tumor associated stromal cells (TASCs).
Mesenchymal stem cells, endothelial cells, pericytes, fibroblasts and various other immune cells
are all components of the TME,each with specific functions. When activated, they take on a similar
in function to those found in inflammation and wound healing and cause fibroblast infiltration,
recruitment of immune cells, remodelling of the extracellular matrix. This is why cancer has been
likened to a wound that never heals, the tumour stroma being chronically activated and promoting
growth and angiogenesis (Dvorak, 1984).
The rapid proliferation of tumour cells soon exhausts the existing vascular supply and brings about
a hypoxic environment in the TME (Coussens and Werb, 2005). Endothelial and stromal cells form a

Definition Of Planning Professional Development
Introduction This paper explores the concept of planning professional development to meet the
needs of special education students by examining articles from scholarly journals in the special
educational world, psychology in schools, and a case study. Even though teachers are given training
on the importance of following a student s Individualized Educational Program (IEP), there seems
to be a gap in training when it comes to the level of instruction that special educationstudents
actually receive in the classroom. In analyzing the TexasAcademic Performance Report for Timber
Creek High School, there might be reason to believe that simply following a student s IEP might
not be enough to ensure the academic success of special education students as defined by results
from the State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness (STAAR) exam. Far too often, special
education students are passed through the system out of fear of litigation yet their test scores reveal
that we as educators can and must do better. After reviewing Timber Creek s Texas Academic
Performance Report (TAPR), I became interested in examining the professional development
opportunities available to educators that focus on how to enhance their current teaching strategies
in regards to how they modify their lessons and assignments for their special education students. In
my search, it became apparent that beyond initial training or information swapping about the
necessary modifications a student needs,

The Documentary Film Outfoxed
To begin with, Outfoxed is a documentary film that came into being as a result of the progressive
and continuous work of the Filmmakerright, that is, the wing views. It clearly documents the fact
that Fox News has continually engaged in what amounts to consumer fraud by extensively airing
bias ideas of the conservatives. This contravenes the right of the people to be informed in a
balanced perspective. Importantly, the film gives detailed review and examination of the growth
and expansion of Murdoch s mediaempire; it does this by looking at the pros and cons of having
media ownership in the hands of few individuals like Murdoch. Critically, the film argues that
putting media ownership in the hands of an individual is disastrous as it is likely

Canada is a multi cultural country as it is home to many races and ethnicities. As of 2011, the
ethnicity with the largest number of population is none other than Filipinos. According to
www.cic.gc.ca (2012) Filipinos are in the first place as having the largest population of
immigrants who are permanently residing in Canada. The growth of Filipinos living in Canada
has been showing a positive trend, as there are only 11,011Filipinos in 2002 as compared to the
34,991 permanent Filipino residents in 2011. This would also come as a positive prospect for
Jollibee to expand to Canada. Having potential customers who probably have the same customer

Jollibee has in the Philippines. The number of Filipinos in Canada is another opportunity for
Jollibee to deliver a taste of home to Canadian Filipino residents.

College Athletes Should Not Be Paid
In the spring of 2014, the Northwestern University football team did something that has never been
done before in the history of college sports. Several scholarship players voted on whether the team
should unionize. These same players believe that they should be compensated for their play on the
athletic field. Countless collegiate sports fans also believe that college athletes from around the
country should be compensated for playing sports; however, paying college athletes would cause
multiple problems in college athletics. Most people do not understand how much student athletes
are given to them free of charge just to attend a university, while the majority of other average
students are stuck with the burden of paying for their education. College athletes should not be
paid since schools do not have the money to pay student athletes, it would not be fair for athletes
who do not play football or basketball, and they have athletic scholarshipsthat allow them to
receive a free education. Various people around the country believe that since football and
basketball are such large sports, that they bring in enough money to pay all athletes at that
college. This is simply not the case. According to Jeffrey Dorfman, a professor of economics at
the University of Georgia, only 23 out of 228 Division I athletic programs managed to run a
surplus in 2012 (par. 7). This means that it would be impossible for schools to pay their athletes

Jingoism Research Paper
Jingoism is a term which many people are not familiar with. Extreme chauvinism or nationalism
marked especially by a belligerent foreign policy is the definition of Jingoism (Merriam
webster.com). Chauvinism is extremely close to jingoism when it comes to their definitions; the
main difference between the two words is that Jingoism is used to describe violent acts of
patriotism or nationalism. Violent acts of patriotism have become for widespread in recent years;
for example, ever since the events of 9/11 the United Stateshas been waging a war on terror. There
seems to be no end to radical Islamist groups based in the Middle East who hope to destroy the

One solution to jingoism is to spread awareness of jingoism; furthermore, if the general
population knew the meaning of the word, it would be more recognizable. In America, once
larger amounts of people learn when to spot jingoism, slowly over time jingoism would stop
completely due to the fear of voter backlash. The people will see and understand what the
government is trying to achieve, and the people will check when the government becomes too
warlike or when they use excessive force, such as the threat India made towards Amazon. While
constituents may not be able to stop what the government is doing, they can make sure that come
next election year that member of the government will not be elected again. No professional or

The Key Concepts Of Quality Improvement
The key concepts of quality improvement are the new designing system and process changes that
lead to improve operation and sustainable quality of organization culture. When new design and
procedure are introduced, the change management priority is to transit employees to new state. To
developing culture of quality, the quality managementplan is the key feature of change management
that needs to inform structure as a specific wide rang of leaderships in organization to support
transformation change and achieve quality outcome. At this point, Dawsonera (2005) leaderships
must have clear vision at the new state of change, a highly visible and the desired of committed a
senior manager to transition the key change process such as aim, objective, training,
communication, planning to make employees awareness.

Why soldiers enlisted in WW1 Essay
To what extent did Australian s enlist in 1914 to defend the Mother Country ? There are many
reasons to why Australian s went to war in the 1914; everyone had different reasons for applying
for this life threatening job. Some went for the thrill, to get a job, to get away from the drought
and some people even had war fever. On the other hand, some people went because they felt like
it was the right thing to do and because everyone else was doing it. A lot of time people think
only about the soldiers that went to war and forget about the women who also enlisted as nurses
and did other important jobs. England was like home to the Australian s but is that really why they

While working at the train station Edison saved a toddler s life and the father awarded him by
teaching Thomas the skills to work a telegraph. This would be important for Thomas later in life
as telegraphy would be something that he would be doing as a career for a certain part of his
life. At the time of the American Civil War, Edison worked across the country as a telegrapher.
However due to his scarlet fever as a child he began to develop hearing problems and due to the
important use of hearing signals for telegraphy, telegraphy became difficult for Thomas. Thomas
later left telegraphy in 1869 and moved on to just working on inventions. In 1871, Edison lost his
mother, and later he married his first wife Mary Stillwell. Unfortunately for Thomas he soon began
to have financial troubles and met problems due to the situation. Thomas s father came to help his
son, and thanks to Thomas s father help, they built Thomas s iconic laboratory in Menlo Park, New
Jersey. Thomas invented the Carbon Transmitter in 1877, a device which improved the
transmission in the telephone. Thanks to his past work and skills on the telegraph, Thomas
invented the phonograph, a device which could record sound and reproduce that same sound.
Through these inventions Thomas was given the name The Wizard of Menlo Park by the press.
Then came his most famous invention the incandescent lightbulb. Unlike what some people think,

War from the 16th Century to the Invention of Gunpowder
The invention of the powerful artillery guns would change man s role in warring engagements.
The artillery guns at first were very limited by their own design. The guns were very heavy and
had to be transported by water, which meant that only towns and fortresses that were close to a
body of water could be attacked with artillery also known as the cannon. There were also some
fortresses that were impervious to the early cannon attacks based on strong designs or natural
defenses. The French were able to penetrate the round shaped castles and large walls during the
late 1400s by using concentrated fire of several small guns instead of a few large ones. A new

Maurice of Nassau equipped his army with weapons of the same size and caliber in an order to
attempt more efficient training methods. His cousin, Count John, began to work on making a

importance of this training method is that it would enable a commander to ensure that the army
trained would be able to improve skills of reloads and master techniques of actual usage of
weapons. The doctrine spread to the countries Germany, France, and England and Count John
opened a military academy based on Maurice s drill, practice, and training methods of arms, armor,
maps, and models. As time went on the training became more complex and eventually Gustavus
Adolphus of Sweden was able through constant drill and practice bring training methods to full
potential. Reloading techniques were improved so much that only six ranks of musketeers were
needed to maintain a continuous barrage. Firepower from artillery was also perfected as a result of
Nassau s work, and every regiment was capable of firing twenty rounds in an hour. Gustavus also
trained his cavalry to charge home with sword s drawn, rather than to skirmish with pistols. The

Andrew Jackson Indian Removal Act Summary
Andrew Jackson s Presidency and the Indian Removal Act
Andrew Jackson was the seventh president of the United States, he won the presidential race for
his support of farmers and workingmen. His role as president led him to pass nine treaties and
Indian Removal Act, although everything he passed was not what was promised. There are now
questions about what the removal was, how Jackson got it passed, and is it what the Indians
expected it to be? President Jackson got the Indian Removal Act passed on May 28, 1830, when it
was passed it said that the move west would be voluntary and peaceful, although Jackson and his
administration had other plans for the Indians and their land.
This policy first came up during the process of the Louisiana Purchase in 1803, although it did not
pass until the exchange of land with the government and Indians. The Indian Removal Act was
passed by Congress on May 28, 1830. This was passed by President Andrew Jackson, and stated it
gave him the power to peacefully and voluntarily give the Indians the option to move from the
states east of the Mississippi River to the unoccupied land west. When this was approved, most did
not think the land west of the Mississippi would ever be a part of the country. Since that was
believed, the wester land was promised as permanent homeland for those who moved, but after they
moved the government continually made the portion of land the Indians were promised smaller and

magazine strategy used in phase I, but Cherry Stockworth, vice president of marketing of Phillips
Foods, recommended him to use the budget to support half of cost of International Boston
Seafood Show. According to the information given in this case, I don t think this is an either or
choice, and my recommendation for Ron Birch is to decrease the cost of ads in trade magazines,
change the content of ads in magazines before and after the IBSS, and support the IBSS in March

Opportunity: U.S. seafood market grew rapidly in recent years, and the biggest part of seafood
sales is fresh seafood, which is 54% of all seafood retail sales. The king crab of Phillips belongs to
fresh seafood, which means it has huge market potential. Customers tend to buy food that is easy
cooked and fresh, which is a feature of the king crab product. The IBSS is a nation wide trade
show which could attract a lot of exhibitors and attendance. Making use of this platform could help
Phillips to build its reputation and promote its products at the same time. Threat: Just because the
IBSS could attract a large amount of exhibitors, the competition during the trade show is fierce.
Though there are so many potential customers would appear at the trade show, how could Phillips
beat the competitors and attracts enough customers to its booth. Another threat for king crab is the
possible rejection of the retailers because they would feel risky to replace an old product with a
new product. Pros and Cons of Alternative Strategies
Trade advertising strategy
Pros: Trade magazine is one of the most important sources for decision makers and they will
spend relatively long time in reading magazines. This strategy would cost less than trade show
strategy and would reach broader potential customers. Cons: Effectiveness for brand building and
lead generation of ads on magazines are 50.2% and 47.4%, lower than effectiveness of trade show,
which are 60.9%

Neighbors By J Cole Analysis
The song Neighbors by J cole is a song about how he feels people in the world today view the
black community and how they are treated by authority and civilians. One of the lines that he raps
is Travon kind of fate, this line obviously referring to the death of Trayvon Martin; the young black
boy viciously murdered by a white man. Another line that hits home with a lot of his fans is the
line, cops bustin down the door with army guns no evidence of the harm we done, this line referring
to the treatment of blacks throughout the country by police officers. I feel that this song really
speaks out about the current situation we are dealing with in this country with lingering racism and
inequality. The Montgomery Bus Boycott starter in 1964

The Virtue Of Morality By Didion
Morality is not a device by which individuals decide how to appropriate from wrong, yet an
apparatus people utilize either intentionally or unwittingly to serve their own particular finishes.
Unmistakably, all inclusive gauges of good and bad don t exist. The conditions Didion delineated
in her article, and additionally current world occasions, show that reality. However, many
individuals don t concur with that investigation, and as Didion brings up in her essay, that trends
are unsafe. Individuals who hold fast themselves to an as far as anyone knows all inclusive good
code can bamboozle themselves into deduction individuals who don t take after that code are
heathens who are not as much as human. As the occasions of September 11, 2001, appear,

Battered Women Are Exposed And Many Forms Of Intimate...
Abstract Battered women are exposed to many forms of intimate partner abuse. This paper will
explore the contributors of anxiety, depression, memory loss; the re experiencing of the trauma
and the disruption of interpersonal relationships; and some of the difficulties that battered
women face when trying to leave their abusers. I am going to sleep in my own bed in my home;
as I sleep, a familiar scent slowly starts to fill the air. I wake up in a cold sweat; I know he is
there, in my house. I don t open my eyes because I don t want to know how close he is, but I can
tell he is still in the hallway; the scent is not strong enough yet. I listen with all my might, hoping
I can hear the carpet moving under his feet or maybe I will hear his breath first. The carpet gives
it away, he is entering my room; I can feel him standing over me for what feels like a lifetime. I
m so careful not to change the pattern of my breathing for fear he will know I m awake. He
turns and walks out. Now I m listening even harder, and my heart sinks when I hear it. My
mother s gasping breaths, I know he has her by the throat. What do I do? I m only fourteen, by no
means large enough or strong enough to stand up to him, so I stay and pray he won t hit her again.
Then the shouting starts. He accuses her of running around on him, with her boss, the neighbor,
and every other male she has come in contact with. He screams at her to take off her clothes, he
wants to see her

The Classical Utilitarianism Line Combined With Rational...
There are some questions in this life we will ask and never receive an answer to. Not because
the questioned simply does not want to answer but perhaps because they cannot answer. This
theory falls into the classical utilitarianism line combined with rational choice theory (Barkan p.
93). In researching Edward Theodore Gein, I discovered this is one of those cases where Why
never came to pass and he took to his own grave those unanswered questions. Did these acts of
crime and necrophilia arise from the clear dysfunctional home life and upbringing or was Ed Gein
simply a psychopath?
How he came to be. Born on August 27, 1906 in La Crosse, Wisconsinto George Philip and
Augusta Gein; Ed was the second of two sons. Gein was raised in ... Show more content on

One must ask how much hereditary influence from his mother was a factor in Geins rational choice
theory. Nature versus the lack of nurture in the upbringing of Ed Gein and his brother. Nonetheless,
offenders still make decisions that appear rational to them at the time they make them (Barkan, p.
96).
Theory Analysis
Ed Gein deeply desired to please his mother above all else. Augusta Gein an archaic Lutheran
controlled her sons to the extreme. Ed did attend public school however he was an outcast and
often bullied by other students. Despite the mistreatment, he managed to do well in and enjoyed
school. When Ed tried to socialize at school this did not please his mother and anytime Ed tried
to make friends, his mother scolded him. The isolation from any other outside influences could
not have been healthy and added to his insecurities in an everyday social lifestyle. Gein was often
described as a loner, awkward and aloof. Augusta read to both her sons daily from the Old
Testament Bible from scripture usually graphic in nature with versus dealing with death, murder
and divine retribution. Gein tried to make his mother happy but his efforts were usually met with
harsh criticism and she was rarely pleased with her sons. She often scolded them and verbally
abused them by telling them they were going to end up disappointments like their father (Woods,
1995).
As Sigmund Freud believed that some people with unresolved deep seated problems are
psychopaths. Potentially the

Theme Of Beatrice In Much Ado About Nothing
Shakespeare established Beatrice s character in order to bring to the stage opposition to the typical
woman of the Elizabethan era and shed light on gender inequality. Hero seems to be the optimal
woman, polite, obedient, and quiet. She supports societies patriarchal views, submitting first to her
father, who commands her to accept Claudio s hand when he proposes, and submissive to her new
fiancГ©, even after he publicly humiliates her. Beatrice, on the other hand, is cynical, sharp, witty,
and a feisty woman. A woman legitimately criticizing a man does not go with genderroles in this
society, and therefore Leonato feels the need to cover it up, belittling and dismissing what
Beatrice has to say her honest opinion of Benedick. The same issue seems to arise when Beatrice
and Benedick banter back and forth. Beatrice takes jabs at Benedick s character, and unable to
handle a woman insulting him, he gives up, or cops out. Beatrice stands out as a character in Much
Ado about nothing because she is a proud, strong female character, rare during Shakespeare s time.
She refuses to marry because she hasn t found a perfect equal partner and is unwilling to submit her
control and freedom to a husband. She yearns to be equal with men, something that challenges the
gender inequality of Elizabethan time.
The way Shakespeare has the men view the women characters in Much Ado About Nothing also
gives insight into Elizabethan gender equality as well. Throughout the play, women

Criminalogical Theories Applied to Monster The Autobiography of an LA Gang Member In
Monster: The Autobiography of an L.A. Gang Member, Kody Scott tells the story of the struggle
between two significantly large gangs. At the age of eleven he was initiated into the Crips, and
committed his first murder. It was this day that began what would become a career for Kody:
banging (Scott, 1993). Kody worked hard to secure a reputation for his name. He held loyal to his
homeboys and began to build up the Crips. His potential for being in a leadership position became
more and more evident as time went on. During one incident, a police officer referred to him as a
monster, and the name stuck. He worked hard to live up to his name, and... Show more content on

The Differential Association Theory states that all behavior, pro social and anti social is learned,
and that we choose the behaviors that are the most rewarding to us (Class Notes). The Night of
Kody s initiation he had taken part in shooting down a group of 15 Bloods. After it all was over and
he was laying awake in bed, he felt guilty and ashamed of [himself] (Scott, 1993: 13). He knew
what he had done was wrong, but when the chance came again for him to choose between right,
and what the set wanted him to do, he chose to follow his fellow Crips. Kody chose the praise
and approval of his friends over the law, and what he knew in his heart was right (Scott, 1993).
The Social Learning Theory is similar to the Differential Association Theory in the respect that
they both depend on the approval of others. It says that ...crime is something learned by normal
people as they adapt to other people and the conditions of their environment (Bohm, 2001: 82).
People learn by reinforcement weather it is positive or negative. Growing up Kody began to feel
more and more that his mom no longer expressed any love or care for him, but that she only
nagged him. After returning home from juvenile hall the greeting that Kody got from his mother
wasn t exactly what he wanted. I knew she meant well, but I wasn t up to it tonight. I wanted to be
loved, to be missed, to be wanted, not scolded (Scott, 1993: 173). The

Non Civil Rights Issues In Education
The most glaring issue when it comes to talking about non civil rights problems in the current
administration is global warming. We as humans across the world have put our future generations
in danger. It should be our responsibility to right the wrongs the best that we can before it gets late.
Unfortunately, the current administration would like us to think that global warming not only isn t
an issue, but that it does not exist at all. This shows a basic lack of responsibility and an uncaring
callousness that got us into this situation in the first place. To look at statistical data and numbers,
put forward by the men and women who have dedicated their lives to this study, and say that they
re lying, to defund them, to say that it s fake... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
About the mental instability of Donald Trump, the sitting president who can t let any perceived
slight against him pass. Who is glad to sit back and advocate of violence and his rallies, and then
lie to the public s face about it. Who has sown seeds of mistrust when it comes to the media,
making himself the one and only source of facts. A man who has refused intelligence briefings and
insults our intelligence officials while claiming to know more. A man who makes a show of his
political announcements as if the future of our nation is a reality TV show. A man who wants to
distance from the United Nations because we aren t getting enough in return, as if we re some sort
of mobsters who offer to protect others for a steep cost. A man who doesn t seem to understand
foreign relations and the delicate bonds we have with the world around us. A man who wants us
to live in a vacuum where only he is in control. There is so much to say about this demagogue
and the fear he incites, not only in his followers but also in those who opposed him. Fear from a
woman who will have her rights to medical treatments taken away. Fear from members of the
LGBT community who have made so much progress only to have it threatened now. Fear for
those seeking a new life in our country only to be turned away, made to return to nothing or worse.
But if we stand united, if we push back, and protect our neighbors and ourselves, we have a

  • 3. The American Dream By John Winthrop What is the American Dream ? The American Dream has always been characterized by a thriving job market, opportunities for advancement, stability, etc. It is the pursuit of individual achievement without consideration for moral or legal restrictions (Angulski, 2013). This idea dates back as far as 1630 to the puritan colonists. It was first established within a sermon given by John Winthrop while sailing to Massachusetts. This sermon set into motion the ideals that we have adapted today enveloping the American Dream . From then on Americans put their faith in the theory that if you work hard and do the right thing you will manifest your goals and eventually attain success and comfortability. The dream of the time was to live in a land where there existed a right to religious freedom and opportunity. This ideal has stuck to this day, however the validity may is no longer intact. The American Dream is a mere afterthought within today s society, overtaken by massive debt and loss of opportunity. The American Dream is the greatest asset we as a country possess, the fact that people from across the world still want to come to America to fulfill their dreams, to join a society that they see as dynamic, exciting, and full of potential, is a testament to the great potential of America to improve lives and offer opportunity for all (Ross, 2016). To achieve the goals of the organization and their personal goal. Effective leadership is the process by which leaders increase the organizations ability to eliminate barriers and enhance engagements. According to our text, Leaders are influential by use of Power. Legitimate, Reward, Coercive, Expert and Referent power are all textbook terms to explain how leaders engage others to meet organizational goals. Whether, hiring or firing, bonuses, reprimand, technical expertise and character or respect of the leader. In my opinion, Exact Networking replaces power in the post modern era. Which includes a high level of empowerment. Shareholders and stakeholders whom have greater knowledge, training and decisive decision making ability are able to perform without very little leadership. • 5. Advertising In Advertising Advertisements have come up with schemes to manipulate just about anybody into buying their products. They use multiple methods to draw in consumers just by how they word their slogans, photoshop their ads , and who they use to promote their products. Ads use weasel words to change the meaning of their slogans. Weasel words are words that make ads sound as if they re making claims when they re basically saying nothing at all. Their technique is to make the audience believe their products can do exactly what they say they do. They manipulate their audience by making it look like they re making claims that their products work, but it s not always true. Ads use photoshop to give the illusion of perfection. This makes the audience believe that if they buy what the ad is advertising, they will look a certain way. When ads use popular celebrities to promote their products, it makes fans that look up to them want to use those same products. Olay uses techniques to make their audience believe their products are efficient by using manipulative claims, photoshop, or well known celebrities. Olay carries a product that s supposed to clear up skin, labeled PROX Clear. The ad for this product includes an image of a young light skinned woman. Her skin appears to be flawless and glowing. She is a brunette with brown eyes. In the foreground of the picture is the golden box the product is packaged in and three white bottles. The heading of the ad says, Olay Professional PROX Clear. ... That is, your time in this world starts from the moment you came in this world and it ends the moment you stop breathing. Consider three texts, including one that was written by a former slave. How do the authors either replicate or refute racial ideologies common in the nineteenth century? I am going to focus on the narratives of Frederick Douglass and Linda Brent as examples of a refusal of racial ideologies and Harriet Beecher Stowe s Uncle Tom s Cabin as an example of replicating (although attempting to refute) racial ideologies of the day. This can be seen in Douglass s constant quest for knowledge. In the beginning, he focuses on his total ignorance so that throughout the narrative, it is easy for the reader to understand the progress he has been making. The best example of the mind requiring liberation before the body is Douglass s fight with Covey. This man mentally abuses his slaves by making them fear his constant watch. The fear is a direct result of the threat of punishment if they do not adhere to his strict rules: they will be beat. In beating his slaves, Covey turns them into just another body; he never sees their mind. Douglass wants to be move than just another body. He needs to free his mind in order to free his body. In order to gain his freedom, Douglass must use his body and physically fight Covey. Through this fight, he frees his mind of the fear of ever being whipped again. Douglass claims that he was never again what might be called fairly whipped, though I remained a slave four years afterwards (43). • 14. Romeo And Juliet Character Analysis A foil is a character that is used to enhance the characteristics of another character (most likely the story s protagonist) by a clear contrast between the two characters. To help bring the characters in Romeo and Juliet to life, William Shakespeare creates foils to compare his main characters to and show why they are better or a better couple in the case of Romeo and Juliet. While some of the foil characters are obvious, like in the case of Romeo and Paris, or Juliet and Rosaline, in other cases it s harder to see the contrast and the significance, as in the case of Romeo and Mercutio. The role of the foil characters in Romeo and Julietis also to show what could have happened if the protagonists had made different choices. Throughout Romeo and Juliet it is made clear that Romeo and Paris are foils as the both are in love Juliet and wish to marry her. However this often leads people to forgetting about Mercutio and his clear contrast with Romeo. We see their differing opinions clearly in Act 1, Scene 4, in which Mercutio tries to persuade Romeo to join them in crashing the Capulet s feast. Romeo takes love very seriously, pining and yearning for Rosaline, while Mercutio treats love as a joke and something to be wary of. When Romeo says he cannot join them because he feels too heavy hearted, Mercutio tells Romeo to borrow Cupid s wings, And soar with them above a common bound (1.4.18 19) Furthermore, when Romeo argues that love is rough, rude, boist rous, and ... The 95 Theses were written in 1517 and it challenged the teachings and the indulgences of the catholic Church at the time (Theopedia.com, 2016). Martin Luther felt as though that the Church officials were teaching the public that they could literally buy their way into the kingdom of God (GotQuestions.org, 2016), for example some people truly believed that if you bought something like a piece of paper, it was like a ticket straight into heaven. He nailed the 95 Theses on the gate of the Wittenberg Church, this caught people s attention and shortly enough it started a theological debate; this then lead to the Reformation. My family had moved from London to live in the seaside town of Weston super Mare in the mid 1960s. We had travelled to Weston by steam train but on returning to London for a visit, by the end of the 1960s, the coal eating steam trains were out and the odorous smell of diesel trains were in. The same steam engine carriages were still in use and were made up of individual compartments; my family of nine took up an entire compartment. Nan s food larder was always well stocked for our visits; filled with goodies like Spam, corned beef, Piccalilli etc. At Nan s house, unlike at home, I got the opportunity of sampling such delicacies like Spamish omelette and Spam fritters. Sounds exotic? Yes, to me they were. I love Piccalilli; it s the kind of stuff that never entered my home back in the 1960s, too weird, too foreign. Whenever I see Piccalilli it always reminds me of Nan. My large family would have been pretty boisterous and quite a handful for a woman, who normally lived on her own, to put up with; an invasion of bodies filling every room of her Victorian terraced house. Generally, every component in a network is called a node. Each node is further identified by the specific task it performs. A user s node is called a terminal or a workstation. This can be a dumb device, meaning it has no operating system, just a monitor and keyboard, or a smart node, meaning it can do it s own computing because of an internal central processor. A server is a node on the network that provides services to the users of that network. A server will manage hardware and software resources or monitor the exchange of information through a network. Aside from the prepossessing campus, the highly equipped student facilities, and the eclectic clubs that have been created over the years, the science program is what I am most elated about. Then in flipping a couple of pages and finding the poem, The Hollow Menand after reading this poem and have Mr. McGee exegeses this piece of poetry to our class, I found to be a very empty and depressing pessimistic poem . Which most of my life, I have had the privilege to look on the positive side of things and live a very joy filled life; which left me with the last poem, Journey of the Magi. After reading this poem, out of the three, this was the poem I had the strongest connection to and could relate to the best. T.S. Elliot s poem entitled, Journey of the Magi was the best poem I could relate to due to the fact that it was a story I ve known since my childhood, it has religious meaning and I can closely relate to the aspect of traveling and going on long journeys. For men who want to experience the thrill of a regular soda drink such as Coke, but do not want the amount of calories it includes, there is one answer to this pandemic, Dr. Pepper 10. The enthusiastic commercial depicts a man with a majestic beard in the wild having a delightful time with the most fierce predators in that environment such as bears and eagles. According to Dr. Pepper, males must have some sort of caloric intake in a drink in order to be classified as a manly man in society. Though this ad is directed toward the male population, Dr. Pepper revealed this ad in a comical way. In the ad, the man was walking in the woods eating a piece of wood. Also, during the entirety of the ad, one may agree to the statement that the background music was a way to exploit comedic relief while disclosing the sexist information. The music was intended to ease the tension one may have felt from this ad. The logic behind the comedic relief was to express a very sexist message in a humorous way in order to keep peace within the society. One may agree that the ad was executed perfectly by breaking the fourth wall; the bearded man stared directly at the camera and smiled which indicated that the ad was formed for entertainment purposes, but also to express a message in a non offending manner. Stereotyping men to be manly and strong looking was an excellent method to grab ahold of the men in life that consists of a nine to five day jobs, have kids to take care of, and wives they must please in order to maintain balance and peace within the house. Children s intake on memories is different from adults. It factors down to the child s past knowledge of things and whether they can extract real memories rather than created false ones. Knowing this we still can t deem a child s memory to be as credible as an adults. A case in 2002, where a 5 year old girl was abducted in front of her home in Stanton, California. Tumour Micro environment The tumour stroma appears to be a major factor in tumour progression after initial tumour formation (Conklin and Keely, 2007). It initially protects against tumourigenesis; but neoplastic cells cause changes and recruit various other cell lines with a multitude of functions, forming a tumour micro environment (TME). This is defined as a heterogeneous population of cells consisting of the tumor bulk plus supporting cells (Bussard et al., 2006). The tumour cells recruit the stroma cells and cause a reactive phenotype, known as tumor associated stromal cells (TASCs). Mesenchymal stem cells, endothelial cells, pericytes, fibroblasts and various other immune cells are all components of the TME,each with specific functions. When activated, they take on a similar in function to those found in inflammation and wound healing and cause fibroblast infiltration, recruitment of immune cells, remodelling of the extracellular matrix. This is why cancer has been likened to a wound that never heals, the tumour stroma being chronically activated and promoting growth and angiogenesis (Dvorak, 1984). The rapid proliferation of tumour cells soon exhausts the existing vascular supply and brings about a hypoxic environment in the TME (Coussens and Werb, 2005). Definition Of Planning Professional Development Introduction This paper explores the concept of planning professional development to meet the needs of special education students by examining articles from scholarly journals in the special educational world, psychology in schools, and a case study. Even though teachers are given training on the importance of following a student s Individualized Educational Program (IEP), there seems to be a gap in training when it comes to the level of instruction that special educationstudents actually receive in the classroom. In analyzing the TexasAcademic Performance Report for Timber Creek High School, there might be reason to believe that simply following a student s IEP might not be enough to ensure the academic success of special education students as defined by results from the State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness (STAAR) exam. Far too often, special education students are passed through the system out of fear of litigation yet their test scores reveal that we as educators can and must do better. After reviewing Timber Creek s Texas Academic Performance Report (TAPR), I became interested in examining the professional development opportunities available to educators that focus on how to enhance their current teaching strategies in regards to how they modify their lessons and assignments for their special education students. In my search, it became apparent that beyond initial training or information swapping about the necessary modifications a student needs, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 47. Battered Women Are Exposed And Many Forms Of Intimate... Abstract Battered women are exposed to many forms of intimate partner abuse. This paper will explore the contributors of anxiety, depression, memory loss; the re experiencing of the trauma and the disruption of interpersonal relationships; and some of the difficulties that battered women face when trying to leave their abusers. I am going to sleep in my own bed in my home; as I sleep, a familiar scent slowly starts to fill the air. I wake up in a cold sweat; I know he is there, in my house. I don t open my eyes because I don t want to know how close he is, but I can tell he is still in the hallway; the scent is not strong enough yet. I listen with all my might, hoping I can hear the carpet moving under his feet or maybe I will hear his breath first. The carpet gives it away, he is entering my room; I can feel him standing over me for what feels like a lifetime. I m so careful not to change the pattern of my breathing for fear he will know I m awake. He turns and walks out. Now I m listening even harder, and my heart sinks when I hear it. My mother s gasping breaths, I know he has her by the throat. What do I do? I m only fourteen, by no means large enough or strong enough to stand up to him, so I stay and pray he won t hit her again. Then the shouting starts. He accuses her of running around on him, with her boss, the neighbor, and every other male she has come in contact with. He screams at her to take off her clothes, he wants to see her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. The Classical Utilitarianism Line Combined With Rational... There are some questions in this life we will ask and never receive an answer to. Not because the questioned simply does not want to answer but perhaps because they cannot answer. This theory falls into the classical utilitarianism line combined with rational choice theory (Barkan p. 93). In researching Edward Theodore Gein, I discovered this is one of those cases where Why never came to pass and he took to his own grave those unanswered questions. Did these acts of crime and necrophilia arise from the clear dysfunctional home life and upbringing or was Ed Gein simply a psychopath? How he came to be. Born on August 27, 1906 in La Crosse, Wisconsinto George Philip and Augusta Gein; Ed was the second of two sons. Gein was raised in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One must ask how much hereditary influence from his mother was a factor in Geins rational choice theory. Nature versus the lack of nurture in the upbringing of Ed Gein and his brother. Nonetheless, offenders still make decisions that appear rational to them at the time they make them (Barkan, p. 96). Theory Analysis Ed Gein deeply desired to please his mother above all else. Augusta Gein an archaic Lutheran controlled her sons to the extreme. Ed did attend public school however he was an outcast and often bullied by other students. Despite the mistreatment, he managed to do well in and enjoyed school. When Ed tried to socialize at school this did not please his mother and anytime Ed tried to make friends, his mother scolded him. The isolation from any other outside influences could not have been healthy and added to his insecurities in an everyday social lifestyle. Gein was often described as a loner, awkward and aloof. Augusta read to both her sons daily from the Old Testament Bible from scripture usually graphic in nature with versus dealing with death, murder and divine retribution. Gein tried to make his mother happy but his efforts were usually met with harsh criticism and she was rarely pleased with her sons. She often scolded them and verbally abused them by telling them they were going to end up disappointments like their father (Woods, 1995). As Sigmund Freud believed that some people with unresolved deep seated problems are psychopaths. Potentially the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 49. Theme Of Beatrice In Much Ado About Nothing Shakespeare established Beatrice s character in order to bring to the stage opposition to the typical woman of the Elizabethan era and shed light on gender inequality. Hero seems to be the optimal woman, polite, obedient, and quiet. She supports societies patriarchal views, submitting first to her father, who commands her to accept Claudio s hand when he proposes, and submissive to her new fiancГ©, even after he publicly humiliates her. Beatrice, on the other hand, is cynical, sharp, witty, and a feisty woman. A woman legitimately criticizing a man does not go with genderroles in this society, and therefore Leonato feels the need to cover it up, belittling and dismissing what Beatrice has to say her honest opinion of Benedick. The same issue seems to arise when Beatrice and Benedick banter back and forth. Beatrice takes jabs at Benedick s character, and unable to handle a woman insulting him, he gives up, or cops out. Beatrice stands out as a character in Much Ado about nothing because she is a proud, strong female character, rare during Shakespeare s time. She refuses to marry because she hasn t found a perfect equal partner and is unwilling to submit her control and freedom to a husband. She yearns to be equal with men, something that challenges the gender inequality of Elizabethan time. The way Shakespeare has the men view the women characters in Much Ado About Nothing also gives insight into Elizabethan gender equality as well. Throughout the play, women ... Gang Member, Kody Scott tells the story of the struggle between two significantly large gangs. At the age of eleven he was initiated into the Crips, and committed his first murder. It was this day that began what would become a career for Kody: banging (Scott, 1993). Kody worked hard to secure a reputation for his name. He held loyal to his homeboys and began to build up the Crips. His potential for being in a leadership position became more and more evident as time went on. He knew what he had done was wrong, but when the chance came again for him to choose between right, and what the set wanted him to do, he chose to follow his fellow Crips. Kody chose the praise and approval of his friends over the law, and what he knew in his heart was right (Scott, 1993). The Social Learning Theory is similar to the Differential Association Theory in the respect that they both depend on the approval of others. It says that ...crime is something learned by normal people as they adapt to other people and the conditions of their environment (Bohm, 2001: 82). • 51. Non Civil Rights Issues In Education The most glaring issue when it comes to talking about non civil rights problems in the current administration is global warming. We as humans across the world have put our future generations in danger. It should be our responsibility to right the wrongs the best that we can before it gets late. Unfortunately, the current administration would like us to think that global warming not only isn t an issue, but that it does not exist at all. This shows a basic lack of responsibility and an uncaring callousness that got us into this situation in the first place.
