ARTERIO VENOUS (AV)
SHUNT TRAY
ARTERIO VENOUS(AV) AND CAROTID
ARTERY(CA) SHUNT TRAY
 Arterio venous shunt is a U shaped plastic tube
inserted between an artery and a vein( usually
between the radial artery and a cephalic vein)
 An abnormal connection between artery and vein .
 It may be surgically created for hemodialysis
treatments
AV SHUNT TRAY CONTAINS
 2-senn retractors
 2-rake retractors
 2 cushing vein retractors
 2-ALM retractors
 2 –tissue forceps toothed/non toothed
 2-adson forceps toothed / non toothed
 2- Debakey forceps
 2-Gerald forceps
 1 – straight mayo scissor
 2-metzenbaum scissors
 2-castroviejo
 2-potts smith
 2-mixters rt angle clamp
 2-needle holders
 2-Debakey multipurpose clamp
 2-debakey cross action bull dog clamps
 4 glover bulldog clamps

 2-Sponge holding forceps
 2-shunt clamps
 2-vascular needle holders
 4-towel clips piercing
 2-towel clips non piercing
 Frazier suction tip
 Yankauer suction tip
SENN RETRACTOR
 Hand held double ended retractor .
 Used to retract primarily surface tissue.
 Commonly used in plastic surgeries
 Also used in thyroidectomy and dissection of neck
tissue.
 This retractor has one right angled blunt end and
another side three prongs rake tip.
 The prongs may be sharp or blunt
CUSHING NERVE AND VEIN RETRACTOR
 Hand held retractor
 Commonly used in intracranial or large bones and
joint procedures.
 Also used in neuro surgeries
ALM Self retaining retractor
 Orthopedic instrument
 Commonly used for soft tissue retraction
 It has a thumb screw which opens and locks the arms
into place
 The arms feature outward curving prongs to hold the
tissue securely
 4×4 prongs blunt
CAROTID SHUNT CLAMPS
 Used to occlude the blood flow in the carotid artery
during cardio thoracic procedures
 Designed to hold the tubes in place during vascular
procedures
 Angled jaws
 Atraumatic teeth
Vascular needle holders
 Used in cardio vascular surgeries for suturing.
 Serrated jaws with blunt tips
Ryder needle holder
Frazier suction tip
 Thin instrument
 Used for removing fluids from confined surgical sites
such as nasal cavity, lumbar , cervical regions and
intracranially.
 This suction tube also features a thin wire that can be
placed into the tube to remove any tissue that may
become trapped through out the suctioning.
 Multiple tip sizes are available
YANKAUER SUCTION TIP
 Used in oral suctioning
 Used to suction oropharyngeal secretions in order to
prevent aspiration.
 Available as stainless steel and disposable.
 Also used in other surgical procedures.
