power point presentation for daily common situations – a poster -
worksheets for each student– whiteboard/markers – folders –
 Pedagogical use of ICT in class: Students will see some pictures about
different situations in our lives that happen from my computer.
 Seating arrangements: Students sit in pairs.
 Cooperative work: Students will be able to work in pairs to develop
their activities as they will feel more confident and motivated. In
addition to this, students will build positive relationships among
them.
 Possible problems/difficulties and possible solutions in the class:
Students are used to listening to their teacher speaking in Spanish
during the whole lesson. They do not speak in English. I will speak
English during the whole class so if they do not understand, I will use
body gestures, facial expressions, miming, and modeling to aid
comprehension.
Participation in class is very important. I encourage students to
participate more so it’s not hard to maintain student’s focus and
attention.
 Assessment: what will be assessed and how?
I’ll monitor students work. I’ll check students’ understanding and
participation by providing help when necessary. I’ll provide the
opportunity to develop their skills and help them to improve and build
confidence in their activities. I’ll encourage them to pass to the board to
check understanding.
ROUTINE: 5’
I will enter the room greeting the students. I’ll say “Hello students!” “How
are you today?” “I hope you are very well.” “Open your folders and copy,
please.” I’ll copythe date on the board as they always do it.

I’ll mix up some sentences and pictures on my desk. I’ll nominate some
students and they’ll have to put the sentences in the correctorder and then
match the sentences with the correct picture. They’ll stick them on the wall.
Finally, I’ll read the sentences aloud and I’ll say, “Ok. Now, look at this
sentence.” (I’ll point at the sentence) I’ll ask “Pastsimple or past
continuous?” They’ll say the correcttense.

SENTENCES:
Transition: “Ok, excellent work students.” “Payattention now!”
PRESENTATION:10’
Students will watch some pictures and read some sentences in a power
point presentation from my computer. I’ll show them different situations:
PAST CONTINUOUS
ANDPAST SIMPLE –
interrupted actions.
I’ll write one of the examples on the board “They were talking when the
boss appeared.”
“They were talking” -> This is a long action. We use “PAST
CONTINUOS”
“The boss appeared” -> This is a short action that is interrupted. We need
to use “PAST SIMPLE”
Then, I’ll write another example:
While he was swimming, a shark appeared.
“She was swimming” -> the continuous action
REMEMBER:
 We use when before an interrupted action.
 We use while before the continuous action.
I’ll give students some minutes so they can copythis in their folders.
I’ll show students the following situation in a poster:
“Lookat this picture now”
“What happened?”
A tree fell on them while they were sleeping.
