Creative Class Initiatives
Economic development for small cities can be a problem compared with big cities. The metropolitan
areas are more likely to attract and retain the manufacturing and technology companies. However,
development agencies are looking for different policies incentives to make the small cities more
competitive with larger cities. The idea of investing in cultural development is a viable option to
improve the economic development of communities spread in rural areas. The culture agencies intend
a planning effort to hold a series of events to stimulate the public to become involved with art and
cultural leadership. Thus, to positively influence the economic growth of small communities.
Moreover, with the grant of the event and different incentives, such ... Show more content on

The creative class initiatives are the key force for the economic growth in the post industrial phase
when service sectors outweigh the manufacturing sector. Consistent with the creative class, promoting
art and culture based on the art tour is a suitable idea to help the southwest Iowa communities to grow.
In addition, it also promotes the region encouraging people to visit and moved to the following cities.
According to Zachary Mannheimer, the director of the Des Moines Social Club, if the city wants to
stimulate the economic growth, it should invest in the arts rather than get started in the jobs, this
investment will make small communities achieve optimum results quickly. Furthermore, the agencies
use events as a tool of the attraction of people and companies showing that the region is a viable place
to live. The trend observed is that events make an interconnection of the individuals with the
community and it is a very good idea to connect communities through art. Therefore, three
recommendation are the key to the success of the cities in the southwest of Iowa. First, it is mandatory
to stimulate partnership between communities among arts groups, communities, and organization.
Consequently, the events can turn into a potential tool to offer a cultural education for the community
and create a program of school based art education for the residents. Second, the civic engagement of
the community is an important strategy to achieve the results. When the community works together, it
makes the difference for the future, based on the developing knowledge, skills, and values to promote
the quality of life. Finally, developing and build an environment audience is a key to reach and involve
more citizens based on the cultural development. The fact of involving more people in the plan it is a
way to leverage the community,

Objective 310.2.3-08 Develop an Ethics Program Essay example
Objective 310.2.3 08
I and two other individuals have decided to start a company that will provide management consulting
services to nonprofit organizations. The company will have 15 to 20 employees. Since many of our
clients will be paying with funds provided by government sources, we have decided it would be
appropriate to have an ethics program in place before we start offering services. A company must have
an effective ethics program to ensure that all employees understand its values and comply with the
policies and codes of conduct that create its ethical culture (Ferrell, Ferrell Fraedrich, 2008, p. 211). In
order to develop an effective ethics program, it must contain certain items. It must first have a code of
conduct ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As with other types of codes of conduct, it will contain methods for reporting violations, how
discipline is distributed and how it is adjudicated. When developing the code, besides the input of
stakeholders, I and my two partners will be directly involved in forming its content. We will consult
our legal counsel to ensure we have avoided any potential legal problems. Six values that have been
suggested as being desirable for codes of ethics include: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility,
fairness, caring and citizenship (Ferrell, Ferrell Fraedrich, 2008, p. 215). We will use these as a guide
when developing our code, as it fits into our desire to have a values orientation for our ethic program.
The code will direct all officers and employees while conducting company business to: obey all rules,
regulations and laws, conduct themselves with honesty and integrity and to avoid all conflicts of
interests with the company business, report to work in condition to work and be free from the
influence of alcohol or drugs, respect the rights and deal fairly with all clients, keep honest and
accurate records and reports of company information, respect the diversity of all and not engage in
discrimination or harassment, preserve the confidentiality of all company information entrusted to
them, maintain

The God Of Small Things By Arundhati Roy
Introduction
Arundhati Roy s fantastically crafted novel The God of Small Things focuses on the daily grievances
suffered by people living in the South Indian society through the eyes of a young girl (Rahel) and her
family, living in Kerala. The story pattern is non linear and revolves around basic everyday issues such
as the prevalence of a rigid caste system, gender discrimination, child abuse, death and forbidden love.
The author executes her work with great panache and succeeds in sending a subtle, yet strong message
to all her readers through every line she writes. Her genius lies in her application of humour even
while describing grave issues that perturb the society. The tone of the entire novel is melancholy,
infused with a sense ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There was very little for a young girl to do in Ayemenem other than to wait for marriage proposals
while she helped her mother with the housework.(Roy, 1997, 38)
The double standards of the society is further highlighted in the fact that when the estranged daughter
is treated very harshly in the household, is not allowed to take part in the family functions and
subjected to demeaning remarks; the estranged son of the same household not only remains the
favourite in the family but is also encouraged when he flirts with another woman.
Existence of a rigid caste sysem
Roy brings the rigid caste system into the limelight with different instances stated throughout the
novel. She brings out a sense of sympathy among her readers for the sufferings of the Paravans and in
the end of the book we are left with a deep feeling of affliction and abhorrence for the societal setup.
Pappachi would not allow Paravans into the house. Nobody would. They were not allowed to touch
anything that Touchables touched.(Roy, 1997, 73)
Relationship shared by people of different backgrounds
The novel also depicts the camaraderie shared by the people of different backgrounds with great
finesse.

shining vegetables, grew to recognize him and would attend to him amidst the clamouring of their
other customers. They gave him rusted film cans in which to put the vegetables he picked. He never

Culture of Malaysia
1.0 INTRODUCTION
Malaysia is a one of the multi cultural country. Cultures have been meeting and mixing in Malaysia
since the very beginning of its history. More than fifteen hundred years ago a Malay kingdom in
Bujang Valley welcomed traders from China and India. Malaysia s cultural mosaic is marked by many
different cultures, but several in particular have had especially lasting influence on the country. Chief
among these is the ancient Malay culture, and the cultures of Malaysia s two most prominent trading
partners throughout history the Chinese, and the Indians. These three groups are joined by a dizzying
array of indigenous tribes, many of which live in the forests and coastal areas of Borneo. Although

In the workplace, employees are discouraged from questioning or critiquing senior level colleagues.

Blackface Minstrelsy
Blackface Minstrelsy
The Minstrel show presents a strange, fascinating and awful phenomenon. Between 1843, when the
first organized troupe appeared, and the 1870 s, the minstrel show was one of the most popular forms
of entertainment in America. White performers wearing burnt cork or black shoe polish on their faces
assumed the roles of African American men and women. A typical minstrel show would have songs,
dances, jokes and grand hoe downs. The minstrel show tried to capture the happy go lucky slave that
ate watermelon and shuffled about. However, this idea of the happy slave was very wrong. Since this
was before the civil rights movement, African Americans were caricatured and often stereotyped as
the lazy, shuffling, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These troupe s became so popular that they went to the White House, where they entertained such
presidents as Polk, Filmore, Tyler and Pierce. Music was also an important part of the minstrel show.
Minstrel music was established in the late 1830 s with the development of the five string banjo. This
new form of music became very popular as the performers, working usually in pairs, toured from town
to town. In 1843, Dan Emmetts of the Virginia Minstrels performed the first minstrel show with banjo,
fiddle, bones, and tambourine. From this point, minstrel mania swept the nation as hundreds of
minstrel troupe s toured throughout the country. It reached its peak in the 1850 s and 1860 s as it
became the popular music of the people. It ran on New York s Broadway for over forty years, and it
was the music of the Mexican War, the California Gold Rush, and the Civil War. This form of popular
music gave birth to our Ragtime, Blues, Dixieland, Country, and Bluegrass music of today. When a
plantation owner had a man with musical talent, he might send him to New Orleans or up north to be
trained in violin so he could play Celtic music for the cotillions and parties. But, when that man was
alone in his quarters, he would pour his African soul into his Irish fiddle. This was the music the
blackface minstrels tried to copy. Ironically,

Lizzie Borden is a very known serial killer but not by killing plenty of people, but only killing her

be killers and were seen as the weaker sex , which is also one of the reasons why Mrs. Borden was so
popular for this case. But how do you get away with a murder of your parents?
Lizzie Borden was born on July 19th, 1860 in Fall River, Massachusetts. First born,
Emma Borden, was very prepared at age of 6 to have a baby sister (Alice) and teach her how to love

Who Is Sir Isaac Newton My Hero
The person I consider a hero is Sir Isaac Newton, because he has a very significant impact on

biggest discoveries in the past centuries. For example, gravity, the color spectrum, and calculus. He is
my hero because I think that if one one if not most of the most influential physicist ever. He displayed
brilliance in a very early age and studied from other great scientists to gain information. What marks
the start of the idea of physics is the Battle of Hastings the battle that initiated modern monarchy and
the comet that flew in the sky that day in 1066. Everyone was asking What is it? and Where did it

came up, Where do comets come from? Well, Isaac Newton dared to unlock the secrets of that comet.
He also invented a reflective telescope that he used to track the motion of the comet. Owing to the fact

How Shakespeare Portrays the Character of the King in...
How Shakespeare Portrays the Character of the King in William Shakespeare s Henry V By writing
this play, Shakespeare was hoping to inspire the people of England because at that time there was a
possible threat of war from Spain or Ireland. He was trying to create the feeling of patriotism so
writing about Henry was a good idea because he was the epitome of a brave, courageous king. He was
able to inspire his men to great victories such as the Battle of Agincourt, where the English won
against the odds. Many of the English were tired, fatigued before the battle and they were up against
the best French knights. This play was made into a film during the Second World War to inspire the

He says that Henry controls them like a man controlling his hound. Shakespeare continues this further
by saying that they crouch at his side waiting for his command. Henry knows what his actions will
bring. It suggests that Henry has the power to control the effects of war. At this time the Church was in
some of trouble. Canterbury tells Ely about a bill, which could take land away from the church. Henry
is now a true man of the Church and is likely to support the Church. But even so the cunning Bishop
of Canterbury has a plan that will divert his mind from the bill, and that is Henry s possible claims to
land in France. He says to Ely For I have made an offer to his majesty . If there is a war to get the land
the Church will pay some money for the campaign. Also in the conversation between the bishops, it
brings you up to date with what is currently happening. Henry had spent his youth (known as Prince
Hal) mixing with bad company, filling up his time with riots, banquets, sports and did not behave like
a prince or a possible future king. He was sociable who loved to go to public places, in particular
taverns. Canterbury talks about Henry as if he were a strawberry that grows underneath the nettle . By
this he means that under the influence of his one time friends Henry was behaving like a common
person. But now under eye of the lords he was

The Consequences And Effects Of Buckthorn And Its Factors...
Abstract
Buckthorn (Rhamnus spp.), an invasive shrub that is found throughout Ohio, the Midwest, and most of
the eastern United States, has a rapid growth rate and is able to withstand conditions that most plants
cannot. Aside from that, the shrub is able to change soil properties that can have devastating
consequences on management. Buckthorn also has an advantage over native species, because of the
early onset of the shrub; the early arrival of buckthorn leaves allows the plant to gain more than a third
of its carbon gain in the same time period that natives are still bare. In soils where the shrub has
invaded, there is a higher percentage of nitrogen and carbon, with nitrogen levels often double that of
levels in soils that have not been invaded. In soils where buckthorn has invaded, there is altered
nitrogen mineralization rates, a higher pH, and higher soil moisture than in soils without. Due to the
fact that buckthorn leaves are high in nitrogen and they drop earlier in the season compared to native
species, microarthopods often colonize the litter before any other leaf litter. The increase of
microarthopods leads to an increase in decomposition rates, which can have significant consequences
on the soil, including altering the fertility and collapsing the soil arthropod community.
Introduction
Invasive species are considered one of the major causes of biodiversity loss, second only to habitat
loss (Heneghan et al 2006), and some invasive species have the ability to

Sidney Bechet Impact On Jazz
From Bechet to Marsalis: The Evolution of Jazz
Jazz: An overview
In the 20th century, Jazz was one of the most expressive forms of music around, as it was just starting
out and was born in a time where victims of oppression were beginning to stand up and rebel. In
comparison to classical music, Jazz is a very new genre of music. It s evolution is vividly evident in it
s contrast of instrumentation, dynamics, and the introduction of modal jazz which I will discuss later
on in this essay. One of the first jazz virtuoso s that appeared and had a significant influence on jazz,
was Sidney Bechet, on clarinet and saxophone.

With this popularity, jazz musicians decided to form larger ensembles, known as Big Bands . These
big bands would typically consist of trumpets, saxophones, trombones, drums, bass (or double bass),
piano and would usually have a soloist. These bands were like the symphony orchestras of jazz. A few
of the most popular big bands would ve been led by Chick Webb, Paul Whiteman, Glenn Miller, Ted
Lewis and an all female big band named Helen Lewis and her all girl jazz syncopaters . The popularity
of these groups was astounding. They were selling out venues everywhere and going on regular tours
across America. These bands would have some impeccably skilled jazz musicians as soloist s also
such as Bix Beiderbecke and Dizzy Gillespie. One big band that stood out from this era would be
Benny Goodman s big band. Their popularity was almost unbelievable. Benny himself was widely
known as the King of Swing and had some of the most dedicated fans at the time. Radio was the most
important aspect for Benny as his recordings would be heard by a wider audience. This ultimately led
to the crazy fan base he gained. For example, in their performance at the Stanley Theatre, it was
reported that most of the audience were dancing down the aisles to the music. People had never
experienced music like this before. It was almost like an explosion of life and freedom, caused by a
wave of new and exciting music. Goodman s performance at

How Is Imagery Used In 1984
1984, a dystopian novel, by George Orwell, an english novelist and journalist, describes the lives of
people under the control of the Inner Party. In this specific scene, Winston, the protagonist of the
novel, had just gotten captured after the Thought Police had found out that he was having thoughts of
being against the inner party. They had just separated him and Julia, Winston s love interest. The
author uses imageries, similes, and metaphors to create a concerned and melancholic tone throughout
Winston s suffering. The author uses a vast amount of examples of imagery to create and show his
concerned tone, starting from how Winston woke up in a camp bed, fixed down so that he could not
move. He continues to describe the events that would take place in that room and the actions that
would be done to him. Orwell explains that sometimes it was fists, sometimes it was truncheons,
sometimes it was steel rods, sometimes it was boots (263). This displays how they didn t care about

crimes. This results in readers feeling extremely sorry for the proceedings that were occurring. Orwell

doing anything that the thought police told him to do. He wanted to make them stop completely, it was

I d like to show you that we all are in need of exercise, because nobody will argue that exercise is

Comparing The Infamy And Controversy Of The Sex Pistols
The Infamy and Controversy of The Sex Pistols Although the infamous band, The Sex Pistols, only
lasted 26 months and one album, they had no shortage of controversy. The Sex Pistols were, and still
are today, the definition of sex, drugs, and rock and roll. It did not take long for The Sex Pistols to stir
controversy in the media. From the beginning of their existence, the media portrayed them as no good
punk anarchists. As documented in the film, The Filth and The Fury by Julien Temple, it is clear why
1970 s conservative Britain would have an issue with the band. For the first time, a group ignored the
typical professionalism that was expected from the music industry (Simonelli 122) and spoke for the
working class. As mentioned in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Punks used shock value for attention. For example, although the band has never made racist comments
or lyrics, bassist Sid Vicious was often spotted wearing swastikas. (Gildart 134 135). Their fashion
choices gave everyone another reason to talk about them. The media was putting money in their
pockets and helping them get their message across. The band members also got a kick out of the anti
punk headlines, no doubt. In some ways, the media was correct. The band encouraged violence at their
shows, Sid Vicious was even known to cut himself on stage (Simonelli 134). However, the extent that
people would go to prevent The Sex Pistols from corrupting the youth of Britain was a bit ridiculous.
Parents protested outside venues, saying they would do whatever it takes to keep The Sex Pistols from
playing, including using violence if necessary (Gildart 136 137). Due to the protests and uproar that
was caused, the band only ended up playing 5 out of the scheduled 27 shows on their Anarchy tour.
(Gildart 130). What the public did not understand is that the people who chose to go to these shows
knew what they were getting into, especially with the amount of media

Churchill and Roosevelt s Speeches Attempted to Bring Hope...
In Winston Churchill s speech blood, toil, tears, and sweat , and in Franklin D. Roosevelt s The Great
Arsenal of Democracy , there are many different rhetorical devices and they use them to build an
effective argument. Both speeches were written and spoken at different times and different events
were going on when the speeches were made, but both speeches are similar in the way that they are
constructed and by the devices used in both. In their speeches both Churchill and Roosevelt tried to
bring hope to the people during the hard times that the country was going through. Winston Churchill
delivered his speech on May 13, 1940, three days after he became prime minister. In Churchill s
speech he wanted to connect with the audience on an emotional level, so he uses many different
examples of the rhetorical device pathos. For example, Churchill s famous quote I have nothing to
offer but blood, toil, tears and sweat . By saying this, he wants the people to know that, he will give all
that he has and he will give as much effort as he can and that s all that he can offer them. Another
example of pathos in the speech is when Churchill said, We have before us many, many long months
of struggle and of suffering . By saying this, Churchill uses terms such as us , struggle , and suffering
to get to the people and to show that the war cabinet crisis wouldn t be an easy thing to get though out
of the rhetorical devices ethos, pathos, and logos, Churchill uses pathos more

Philadelphia Art Museum
My trip to Philadelphia Museum of Art was really knowledgeable, joyful and informative. This
Museum of Art is the largest museum in the United States. When I arrived at the front of the museum I
was surprised and amazed how beautiful was the front entrance. The unique design and the gigantic
pillared building attracted me. The entrance had a huge statue of a lady with a bow and arrow in her
hand at the top of the Museum s Great Stair Hall known as Diana (1892 1893) by Augustus Saint
Gaudens. Diana is made up with copper sheets with the height of 14 feet 6 inches. I was fascinated
with many of the exhibits they had set up. There were rooms with different groups of art according to
their type, year and location they were made. All of the art in the art museum were interesting to look

A General Sense, By Bram Stoker s Dracula
1. Romanticism, in a general sense, was an artistic movement that began at the end of the eighteenth
century, and, particularly in music, dominated the nineteenth century. Artistically, many traits of
Romanticism directly contrast Classicism. While the Classicism reflects balance, logic and reason,
universality, allusion, and a strong sense of the physical world, Romanticism thrives on sentimentality,
untamed nature, diversity, and the supernatural. The arts, in general, are the most obvious product of
this time. Untamed nature had been an interest for quite some time, carrying over from the
transcendental movement, notably from authors such as Henry David Thoreau. The interest in the
supernatural was inseparable from Romanticism, appearing in every art form. Novels such as Bram
Stoker s Dracula demonstrated the curiosity in the occult. Notable musical that also concern this topic
include Hector Berlioz s opera Faust, the Witches Sabbath from Symphonie Fantastique (which also
includes a demonic version of the Dies irae chant), Franz Liszt s Mephisto Waltz, and Modest
Mussorgsky s Night on Bald Mountain. Much of the Romantic Movement in music also involves the
portrayal of human emotions, such as Hector Berlioz s affections for Irish actress Harriet Smithson
through his Symphonie Fantastique. The social constructs also began to evolve during this period.
Carrying over from the late Classical period was a large middle class. Coupled with improvements in

Similarities Between Frederick Douglas And Malcom X
For some education is a foregone conclusion, particularly those who are wealthy and have means to
attend an institution of higher learning. Education is not the sole purview of the wealthy, while having
means provides a lower bar for entry, lack of means does not prevent one from enlightening the self.
Such is the case for both Frederick Douglas and Malcom X, two men who enlightened themselves
without access to the wealth that tethers education to those of the upper class. Hard work and
determination can win the day and bestow a freedom that only an advanced education offers. These
two men are shining examples of what can be accomplished when someone refuses to be denied an

Fredrick Douglass who started life as a slave on Master Hughes plantation was taught to write by his

slave, she treated him with respect, took care of him, and began to teach him the basics of education.
After being told by Master Hughes to stop Douglass s education the Mistress went above and beyond
that order. Where she once would bring them newspapers to read together, she would now not let him

The Sandlot Analysis
The Sandlot : A little field never meant so much
Have you ever wondered what it would be like living as a teenager in the 1960s? Even though filmed
in 1993, The Sandlot does an outstanding job taking you back to the summer of 1963. It takes you
back in time to 1963 to a simple town in Utah. The Sandlot follows a timid young kid through hard
times, like moving to a new town and having to go through the struggle of finding new friends. The
struggle comes to an end when a compassionate young man comes up to him and gives him a life
changing opportunity. The Sandlot wonderfully depicts a unbreakable bond between a superstar
athlete and an introvert. The characters and actors honestly makes The Sandlot become a classic. The
setting and the plot really make you feel as if you were a teenager in 1960s time. The Sandlot consists
of the essentials of a memorable classic such as connections with audiences, a perfect setting,
tremendous characters, and an intriguing plot.
The Sandlot provides many opportunistic connections with the viewers to make it a memorable movie.
For example, The Sandlot starts off with a struggle many kids face today, with Smalls , a timid young
man moving to an unknown town in Utah. In the beginning of his adventure Smalls is faced with the

The Fall Of The Roman Republic
Tiberius and his brother Gaius were regarded in Roman tradition as the initiators of the revolution
which led to the breakdown of the Republic. (Roebuck, 1966:506) The fall of the Roman Republic
occurred during the late second century BC and resulted in various leading figures emerging such as
Tiberius Sempronius Gracchus. Tiberius Gracchus was largely responsible for creating and initiating a
long term political crisis in Rome in the early first century through his land reformations and desire to
aid the poor. However, his intentions led not only to political arguments but violence within Roman
society. This will be demonstrated through the analysis of ancient sources, discussion of the historical
context, Tiberius Gracchus motives, actions and contribution to the fall of the Roman Republic. Much
has been written about Tiberius in both modern and ancient sources, although some are divided on his
motives while others strive for his selflessness. Orosius, an ancient source concerning the Roman
Republic stated that Tiberius was angry with the nobility because of the Numantine Treaty, decided
that the land possessed hither to by private individuals, should be divided amongst the people, and this
caused him to reform against the Senate (Bishop, 1988). There are a trio of vital ancient sources
reliable on the breakdown of the Republic. Cicero, Appian and Plutarch. Cicero is one of the few that
actually lived during and participated in the events he comments on, so was

My Philosophy And Rationale In The Classroom
Philosophy and Rationale The assertiveness is a clear affirmation that both teachers and students are to
be treated with respect (Purkey, 2004, p. 100). My philosophy within the classroom, is creating and
maintaining a sense of respect; a classroom where a mutual respect between myself and the students is
seen among all who enter the classroom environment. However, with this sense of mutual respect,
students should understand that if misbehavior does occur, all students will have a voice, but I have
the ultimate decision of choosing the route we take to ensure that this misbehavior does not occur
again. I also want students to be self aware; understanding that they are in control of their own lives
and that I respect them enough to let them make their own rational decisions. Another key component
in my philosophy of the classroom, is getting to know the students on a personal level. I want to know
about their families, the sports they play, the foods they like to eat, the friends they have, and/or the
church they attend. Based on personal experience, when a teacher takes the time to know you outside
of the classroom, a great bond is built. When the bond is built, a sense of trust in created between the
teacher and student. I want my students to trust me, respect me, but know that I believe in them to
make decisions that are beneficial for themselves; through this, I will respect my students, listen to
them, and support them in the decisions they make. If we set

Homeschool Students Vs. Traditional-School Students
Research claims that homeschoolers usually exceed expectations in college compared to traditional
school students. According to Michael Cogan, author of Exploring Academic Outcomes of
Homeschool Students, majority of admission staff located at different colleges believe homeschool
students either meet or exceed expectations of traditional school students (Cogan 19). These
expectations include GPA, how many college credits were earned prior to enrollment, and how well
they retain information. Homeschool students were also reported as to having significantly higher
ACT Composite scores. The average ACT Composite score among homeschool students is a 27, while
the average score among traditional school students is a 25 (Cogan 24). Not only are homeschool
students standardized testing scores higher, their GPA scores are usually higher as well. The average
GPA of homeschool students is 3.64, and traditional school students average GPA is between 3.54 and

Hence, manufacturing department should not interfere in the distribution department, and the latter
should be experienced in distribution of products like Omnivue to the end customers.
Strategic Alternative 2 Backward Integration
Backward integration is a type of vertical integration in which a company takes control over its
suppliers. It is a form of acquisition of the intermediary players involved in supplying the raw
materials used in the production process of the firm. Raw materials, intermediate manufacturing and
assembly are controlled by the firm whereas distribution to the end customer is done by a third party
company. In this way, company increases production efficiency and gains a competitive advantage by
lowering its production cost.
Bergerac can opt for the buy option and implement its backward integration by acquiring GenieTech.
GenieTech can provide the company with eight efficient molding machines for the acquisition price of
$ 5.75 million. The price includes experienced labor force and management. Bergerac can fulfill its
chemical reagent demand by using 4 out of 8 moulds provided in the acquisition. Rest of the presses
can be used in the expansion process or can be used to meet the demand of a third party. This
investment can result in the reduction of overhead expenses by twenty six percent per unit. Bergerac
can pay the amount over a period of five years making the project

Theme Between Rear Window And Disturbia
Sitting alone trapped inside my home watching my neighbors. This setting is a description of the plot
in the films Rear Window by Alfred Hitchcock (1954) and Disturbia by D.J Carusso(2007).These two
films contain many similar themes which are a part of the movie s plot but are slightly different. The
two films both contain a vast amount of voyeurism presented in different ways. In both films women
are treated rude, disrespectfully and are victims of violence. Both films also share the theme of
Isolationism which contributes to the plot, tone and development of characters. The films are so alike
in comparison and little in contrast that it would lead you to believe that Disturbia is a modern remake
of Rear window. First off let s discuss the voyeurism presented in both of the films. In the film Rear
window Jeff is shown on numerous occasions was shown watching a woman from his window
dancing and, changing in her underwear while smiling at the sight. This form of voyeurism is shown
in Disturbia when kale is also shown watching his neighbor Ashley from his window on many
occasions while she is swimming and changing clothes. Kale also was shown watching women in
swim wear on his TV. The contrast of voyeurism in the films is that in Disturbia it is shown more. The
theme of voyeurism is presented almost the exact same way between the two films. Secondly in both
films women are treated rudely, disrespectfully and are the objects in which violence is inflicted upon.

New England And Chesapeake Colonies Analysis
Starting off as a single colony, the New England colony eventually expanded to form the Middle
colonies, Southern colonies, and the Chesapeake colonies. The Chesapeake and New England colonies
both stemmed from England, but developed in a way that made them each very unique in the way that
they developed. Developing around different intentions, the New England and Chesapeake colonies
were unique due to their different economic and social structures. The social interactions that the New
England and Chesapeake colonies had between Indians and their own people were very different due
to alternate motives. Documents A and H each show the steps taken in order to achieve social unity. It
is obvious that the two colonies didn t have the best relationship with the Indians, but both colonies
had different approaches when it came to mending relationships. Bacon s Rebellion was a revolt
against Governor Berkeley of Virginia in 1676 that started due to Berkeley s resistance of not fighting
against the Indians because of the fur trade. This showed that the Chesapeake colony would rather
take a better economy as opposed to stable social interactions, Now let us compare these things
together and see what sponges have sucked up the public treasure and whether it has not been
privately contrived away by unworthy favorites and juggling parasites whose tottering fortunes have
been repaired and supported at the public charge (Doc H). This statement by Nathaniel Bacon

The creative class initiatives are the key force for the economic growth in the post industrial phase when service sectors outweigh the manufacturing sector. Consistent with the creative class, promoting art and culture based on the art tour is a suitable idea to help the southwest Iowa communities to grow. In addition, it also promotes the region encouraging people to visit and moved to the following cities. According to Zachary Mannheimer, the director of the Des Moines Social Club, if the city wants to stimulate the economic growth, it should invest in the arts rather than get started in the jobs, this investment will make small communities achieve optimum results quickly. Furthermore, the agencies use events as a tool of the attraction of people and companies showing that the region is a viable place to live. The trend observed is that events make an interconnection of the individuals with the community and it is a very good idea to connect communities through art. Therefore, three recommendation are the key to the success of the cities in the southwest of Iowa. First, it is mandatory to stimulate partnership between communities among arts groups, communities, and organization. Consequently, the events can turn into a potential tool to offer a cultural education for the community and create a program of school based art education for the residents. Second, the civic engagement of the community is an important strategy to achieve the results. When the community works together, it makes the difference for the future, based on the developing knowledge, skills, and values to promote the quality of life. Finally, developing and build an environment audience is a key to reach and involve more citizens based on the cultural development. Objective 310.2.3-08 Develop an Ethics Program Essay example Objective 310.2.3 08 I and two other individuals have decided to start a company that will provide management consulting services to nonprofit organizations. The company will have 15 to 20 employees. Since many of our clients will be paying with funds provided by government sources, we have decided it would be appropriate to have an ethics program in place before we start offering services. A company must have an effective ethics program to ensure that all employees understand its values and comply with the policies and codes of conduct that create its ethical culture (Ferrell, Ferrell Fraedrich, 2008, p. 211). Six values that have been suggested as being desirable for codes of ethics include: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship (Ferrell, Ferrell Fraedrich, 2008, p. 215). We will use these as a guide when developing our code, as it fits into our desire to have a values orientation for our ethic program. The code will direct all officers and employees while conducting company business to: obey all rules, regulations and laws, conduct themselves with honesty and integrity and to avoid all conflicts of interests with the company business, report to work in condition to work and be free from the influence of alcohol or drugs, respect the rights and deal fairly with all clients, keep honest and accurate records and reports of company information, respect the diversity of all and not engage in discrimination or harassment, preserve the confidentiality of all company information entrusted to them, maintain ... Between 1843, when the first organized troupe appeared, and the 1870 s, the minstrel show was one of the most popular forms of entertainment in America. White performers wearing burnt cork or black shoe polish on their faces assumed the roles of African American men and women. A typical minstrel show would have songs, dances, jokes and grand hoe downs. The minstrel show tried to capture the happy go lucky slave that ate watermelon and shuffled about. This new form of music became very popular as the performers, working usually in pairs, toured from town to town. In 1843, Dan Emmetts of the Virginia Minstrels performed the first minstrel show with banjo, fiddle, bones, and tambourine. From this point, minstrel mania swept the nation as hundreds of minstrel troupe s toured throughout the country. It reached its peak in the 1850 s and 1860 s as it became the popular music of the people. It ran on New York s Broadway for over forty years, and it was the music of the Mexican War, the California Gold Rush, and the Civil War. This form of popular music gave birth to our Ragtime, Blues, Dixieland, Country, and Bluegrass music of today. When a plantation owner had a man with musical talent, he might send him to New Orleans or up north to be trained in violin so he could play Celtic music for the cotillions and parties. How Shakespeare Portrays the Character of the King in William Shakespeare s Henry V By writing this play, Shakespeare was hoping to inspire the people of England because at that time there was a possible threat of war from Spain or Ireland. Also in the conversation between the bishops, it brings you up to date with what is currently happening. Henry had spent his youth (known as Prince Hal) mixing with bad company, filling up his time with riots, banquets, sports and did not behave like a prince or a possible future king. • 11. The Consequences And Effects Of Buckthorn And Its Factors... Abstract Buckthorn (Rhamnus spp.), an invasive shrub that is found throughout Ohio, the Midwest, and most of the eastern United States, has a rapid growth rate and is able to withstand conditions that most plants cannot. Aside from that, the shrub is able to change soil properties that can have devastating consequences on management. Buckthorn also has an advantage over native species, because of the early onset of the shrub; the early arrival of buckthorn leaves allows the plant to gain more than a third of its carbon gain in the same time period that natives are still bare. In soils where the shrub has invaded, there is a higher percentage of nitrogen and carbon, with nitrogen levels often double that of levels in soils that have not been invaded. In soils where buckthorn has invaded, there is altered nitrogen mineralization rates, a higher pH, and higher soil moisture than in soils without. Due to the fact that buckthorn leaves are high in nitrogen and they drop earlier in the season compared to native species, microarthopods often colonize the litter before any other leaf litter. The increase of microarthopods leads to an increase in decomposition rates, which can have significant consequences on the soil, including altering the fertility and collapsing the soil arthropod community. Introduction Invasive species are considered one of the major causes of biodiversity loss, second only to habitat loss (Heneghan et al 2006), and some invasive species have the ability to ... • 13. Sidney Bechet Impact On Jazz From Bechet to Marsalis: The Evolution of Jazz Jazz: An overview In the 20th century, Jazz was one of the most expressive forms of music around, as it was just starting out and was born in a time where victims of oppression were beginning to stand up and rebel. In comparison to classical music, Jazz is a very new genre of music. It s evolution is vividly evident in it s contrast of instrumentation, dynamics, and the introduction of modal jazz which I will discuss later on in this essay. One of the first jazz virtuoso s that appeared and had a significant influence on jazz, was Sidney Bechet, on clarinet and saxophone. 20th Century New Orleans Sidney Bechet (1897 1959) Born into a middle class family in New Orleans, Louisiana, ... These big bands would typically consist of trumpets, saxophones, trombones, drums, bass (or double bass), piano and would usually have a soloist. A few of the most popular big bands would ve been led by Chick Webb, Paul Whiteman, Glenn Miller, Ted Lewis and an all female big band named Helen Lewis and her all girl jazz syncopaters . The popularity of these groups was astounding. They were selling out venues everywhere and going on regular tours across America. These bands would have some impeccably skilled jazz musicians as soloist s also such as Bix Beiderbecke and Dizzy Gillespie. One big band that stood out from this era would be Benny Goodman s big band. Their popularity was almost unbelievable. Benny himself was widely known as the King of Swing and had some of the most dedicated fans at the time. Radio was the most important aspect for Benny as his recordings would be heard by a wider audience. This ultimately led to the crazy fan base he gained. For example, in their performance at the Stanley Theatre, it was reported that most of the audience were dancing down the aisles to the music. People had never experienced music like this before. In this specific scene, Winston, the protagonist of the novel, had just gotten captured after the Thought Police had found out that he was having thoughts of being against the inner party. They had just separated him and Julia, Winston s love interest. The author uses imageries, similes, and metaphors to create a concerned and melancholic tone throughout Winston s suffering. The author uses a vast amount of examples of imagery to create and show his concerned tone, starting from how Winston woke up in a camp bed, fixed down so that he could not move. As documented in the film, The Filth and The Fury by Julien Temple, it is clear why 1970 s conservative Britain would have an issue with the band. In their speeches both Churchill and Roosevelt tried to bring hope to the people during the hard times that the country was going through. • 23. A General Sense, By Bram Stoker s Dracula 1. Romanticism, in a general sense, was an artistic movement that began at the end of the eighteenth century, and, particularly in music, dominated the nineteenth century. Artistically, many traits of Romanticism directly contrast Classicism. While the Classicism reflects balance, logic and reason, universality, allusion, and a strong sense of the physical world, Romanticism thrives on sentimentality, untamed nature, diversity, and the supernatural. The arts, in general, are the most obvious product of this time. Untamed nature had been an interest for quite some time, carrying over from the transcendental movement, notably from authors such as Henry David Thoreau. The interest in the supernatural was inseparable from Romanticism, appearing in every art form. Novels such as Bram Stoker s Dracula demonstrated the curiosity in the occult. Notable musical that also concern this topic include Hector Berlioz s opera Faust, the Witches Sabbath from Symphonie Fantastique (which also includes a demonic version of the Dies irae chant), Franz Liszt s Mephisto Waltz, and Modest Mussorgsky s Night on Bald Mountain. Much of the Romantic Movement in music also involves the portrayal of human emotions, such as Hector Berlioz s affections for Irish actress Harriet Smithson through his Symphonie Fantastique. The social constructs also began to evolve during this period. Carrying over from the late Classical period was a large middle class. Coupled with improvements in printing ... (Roebuck, 1966:506) The fall of the Roman Republic occurred during the late second century BC and resulted in various leading figures emerging such as Tiberius Sempronius Gracchus. Tiberius Gracchus was largely responsible for creating and initiating a long term political crisis in Rome in the early first century through his land reformations and desire to aid the poor. My Philosophy And Rationale In The Classroom Philosophy and Rationale The assertiveness is a clear affirmation that both teachers and students are to be treated with respect (Purkey, 2004, p. 100). My philosophy within the classroom, is creating and maintaining a sense of respect; a classroom where a mutual respect between myself and the students is seen among all who enter the classroom environment. However, with this sense of mutual respect, students should understand that if misbehavior does occur, all students will have a voice, but I have the ultimate decision of choosing the route we take to ensure that this misbehavior does not occur again. I also want students to be self aware; understanding that they are in control of their own lives and that I respect them enough to let them make their own rational decisions. Another key component in my philosophy of the classroom, is getting to know the students on a personal level. I want to know about their families, the sports they play, the foods they like to eat, the friends they have, and/or the church they attend. Based on personal experience, when a teacher takes the time to know you outside of the classroom, a great bond is built. When the bond is built, a sense of trust in created between the teacher and student. The two films both contain a vast amount of voyeurism presented in different ways. In both films women are treated rude, disrespectfully and are victims of violence. Both films also share the theme of Isolationism which contributes to the plot, tone and development of characters. The bird has willingly come to just help, without asking for anything else in return, being that one guide to stay by your side. Emily Dickinson is truly a powerful and encouraging poet that speaks to the reader through her writing. When I first read the title of this poem, Hope is the thing with feathers, it really grasped my attention and lured me to read more about it, hence its unusual name. The way Dickinson describes such simple things and expands the reader s perception, exposes the mind to another level of profundity. For instance, the lines And sings the tune without the words And never stops at all ... And sweetest in the Gale is heard the way it is written with its brief pauses using the hyphens, gives a sensual way of being read providing more emotion into the poem. This definitely is a passionate and expressing piece I will remember and keep with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

New England And Chesapeake Colonies Analysis Starting off as a single colony, the New England colony eventually expanded to form the Middle colonies, Southern colonies, and the Chesapeake colonies. The Chesapeake and New England colonies both stemmed from England, but developed in a way that made them each very unique in the way that they developed. Developing around different intentions, the New England and Chesapeake colonies were unique due to their different economic and social structures. The social interactions that the New England and Chesapeake colonies had between Indians and their own people were very different due to alternate motives. Documents A and H each show the steps taken in order to achieve social unity. It is obvious that the two colonies didn t have the best relationship with the Indians, but both colonies had different approaches when it came to mending relationships. Bacon s Rebellion was a revolt against Governor Berkeley of Virginia in 1676 that started due to Berkeley s resistance of not fighting against the Indians because of the fur trade. This showed that the Chesapeake colony would rather take a better economy as opposed to stable social interactions, Now let us compare these things together and see what sponges have sucked up the public treasure and whether it has not been privately contrived away by unworthy favorites and juggling parasites whose tottering fortunes have been repaired and supported at the public charge (Doc H).
