Analysis Of The Monotheistic Religion Of Judaism
Judaism is one of the most controversial and known religions in the world. Judaism plays a major
role in history, as it almost went extinct during the reign of one of the most brutal people to ever
live. But many people don t know much about the religion, just that it went through tough times or
took brutal events during war time. I believe that it is good to inform others about the monotheistic
religion of Judaismand it s beliefs, because many people ask the same question : How does the
Jewish religion differ from Catholicism? There are many ways to answer this question, but I will
deconstruct this by developing 3 different questions to analyse not only the main question, but to
analyse Judaism as a whole. What is the Jews opinion of Jesus?... Show more content on

An example of a similarity is their belief in one God. Both religions are monotheistic and believe
in one true divine being. But even this common belief of the two religions has been broken down
further. Although both believe that God the holy one, Judaism does not accept the popular belief
of the Holy Trinity. The Holy Trinity is the three very important sections of beings that make up
God: The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit. Judaism insists on the notion of believing in ONE
God, being strictly monotheistic. As Judaism understands this idea, God cannot be made up of
parts, even if those parts are mysteriously united. The Christian notion of trinitarianism is that God
is made up of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Such a view, even if called
monotheistic because the three parts are, by divine mystery, only one God, is incompatible with the
Jewish view that such a division is not possible. (JewCathDifference, The Differences Between

Individual Disclosure Decisions
In addition to analyzing the information, disclosers also consider the quality of relationship with the
audience, and predict how the audience is likely to respond when making disclosure decisions
(Greene, 2009). Typically, individuals will choose to disclose to those with whom they have a
higher relational closeness and quality, while concealing with those who are more distant. However,
situations arise that contradict these assumptions, as in the case of public disclosure of private
information. The individuals in this study disclose to an audience that varies in relational closeness.
Researchers have not yet accounted for individuals who reveal private information in public;
consequently, they do not understand what rules govern these individuals decisions. In this... Show

In addition to assessing the information to be disclosed, anticipated response is another method
disclosers utilize to determine whether to reveal their private information. Typically, individuals
only disclose when they have confidence in an accurate prediction of the audience s response
(Greene, 2009). Other scholars (Jellison Riskind, 1977; Jourard, 1971b; Omarzu, 2000; Taylor,
1968) have examined the rewards by which disclosers are motivated. Omarzu (2000) named five
social rewards: intimacy, or the pursuit of closeness; social control, wherein the audience can
bestow benefits or rewards for disclosure; social approval, or attempts to increase acceptance and
liking; relief of distress, during which individuals talk about problems and negative emotions to
relieve stress; and lastly, identity clarification, which helps to clarify self knowledge. As
individuals goals change and they desire differing social rewards, the disclosure changes either in
content or in the targeted audience (Omarzu, 2000). In the present study, individuals disclose
private information to a large, diverse

Anthony Wayne Effect On Indians
We are now Masters of this Island, and we can dispose of the Lands we think proper, General
Philip Schuyler said to the Indians. East of the Mississippi, there were over 40,000 Indians,
comprised of Cherokee, Creek, Chickasaw, and Choctaw tribes. Indian leaders told the Spanish in
1784, The Americans...put us out of our lands, extending themselves like a plague of locusts in the
territories of the Ohio River we inhabit. The Americans took Indian land and traded alcohol to
Indians, causing them to lose senses and give land out of reason. In 1790, the Americans faced a
great defeat against Little Turtle and his tribe. Out of the 1800 soldiers sent to capture the land,
only 900 came out alive. The battle has no name. Anthony Wayne returned and

Shine Light on Millions of Mirrors:
Digital Light Processing Projector
Abstract A digital light processing projector is a type of display device that uses a digital micro
mirror chip. The most common application of this projector is in movie theaters. In movie theaters,
films are shown by digital light processing projector, which emits light through color wheel and
reflects it with micro mirror chip. The two main technologies of digital light processing projector,
color wheel and micro mirror chip are engineered so precisely that it can create at least 16.7
million colors and refresh a screen 120 times per second [1]. The technology of digital light
processing projector is continuously moving forward and soon it will be prevalent in home theaters.
Introduction
Recall our middle school memory in which we used to have one overhead projector in every
classroom. A teacher writes on a transparency sheet with a colored pen and a lamp under the
black box shines on the transparency sheet and the shadow of footprint is shown on the screen
through the mirror that is above the black box. It was very analog in a sense that it could only
project a still sketch and its color reproduction is very limited.
Late 1990 s is the beginning of the digitalization and our engineering endeavor at overhead
projector is Digital Light Processing projector. It may sound very high technologic, however, the
science behind it is quite straightforward

The Case Involving Medical Negligence
1.Introduction
In the case of Gregg v Scott, The House of Lords confronted the issue of financial recovery for the
loss of chance in a case involving medical negligence. By a majority of 3 2, their Lordships refused
to recognize loss of chance as leading to a recovery of damages.
This paper will examine the judgments of Lord Nicholls and Lord Hoffmann. Representing the
dissenting and majority judgment respectively, they have presented a set of arguments that were
most compelling for cases of medical negligence dealing with a loss of chance. This paper will
distinguish the judgments of both Lordships and will examine the reasoning behind their
arguments while finally touching upon criticisms of their respective positions.

In order to have a successful claim for compensation, the claimant had to demonstrate that the
defendant was the factual cause of the loss suffered.
Therefore, the claimant had to argue that, on the balance of probabilities, the negligence of the
defendant was a result of the injury to establish causation. In this case, the injury is the loss of
chance of recovery. The claimant argued inter alia, that even though he was deprived of his
recovery and could not recover damages, he ought to recover for the loss of chance of recovery
due to the negligence on the part of the defendant.
3.History of Litigation
3.1Trial Court Judgment
The trail court judge explained that Dr. Scott was negligent for failing to show that the growth
might not have been benign. However, the judge ruled that the defendant had breached his duty of
care.
On the question of whether the negligence of the defendant was a contributing factor to the
claimant being unlikely to survive ten years, the court held that the claimant would have had no
chance to survive the ten year period, even with treatment.
The trial judge, Judge Inglis, relied on expert evidence at the time of the misdiagnosis that Mr.
Gregg had a 42 per cent chance of survival in a period of 10 years, with 10 year survival being the
cure . However, because of the delay in diagnosis, it had reduced Mr. Gregg s prospects to a 25 per
cent. Mr. Gregg argued a loss of chance in court.

Factory Farms Vs Factory Farming
Where does the food humans consume come from. Probably not, if foods placed on the plate most
find satisfaction with that. But, most of the food humans consume probably comes from factory
farms. Factory farms consist of large buildings that confine animals in order to prevent diseases but
also to produce foodfast and more efficiently. Factoryfarms help produce more food to feed the
world. World hungercontinues to be a growing issue and has caused issues for quite some time.
Factory farms increase production and help feed the world. Due to an increase in population
factory farms holds the world s food supply in check. Factory farms produce more animals in a
quicker matter than any other place. Factory farms help contain waste and help stop some
environmental problems that come with raising livestock. One problem that concerns most happens
to be the disposal of animal waste. With their waste being captured in a pit under the confinement
factory farms help stop the spread of pollution that comes from livestock.
One example of a factory farm in use, a major producing company Tyson foods. At Tyson foods
33 day old chickens weigh enough to be slaughtered. This goes to show that factory farms need
to be used in order to feed the world. Factory farms raise food more efficient than any other place.

How To Write An Argumentative Essay On African American...
American Dream Argumentative Draft
Everyone thinks it s so easy and cool to join Armed Forces, but to be honest, half of them don t
even know what the effects would be when they join and after they leave the military. People
usually take our veterans for granted and they don t acknowledge what veterans have done for us
and our country. Veterans should be shown respect when they come back home, but they don t
and to me that s just disrespectful and it also shows how out of line citizens are. Everyone who
has fought for their country, chose to fight, they never had to, but because they seen that people
needed to be protected, they put their lives on the line. The least we could do is say Thank you!
but no, they don t even get that and that s really messed up. They took a bullet for this country, they
lost their lives for this country, they have nightmares every night because of things they had to see
while defending this country. What do we do to show them our appreciation though? Nothing. As a
result, most veterans don t feel a sense of belonging and loyalty to their country.
Many African Americanveterans salute and pledge an oath of loyalty to their country, but even
after they have protected it, they don t get protection back in return. All the black soldiers who
have came back or have been killed while in the frontline, either don t get remembered, get
disrespected, or get killed when they come back from serving. After all

Italian And German Fascism Comparison
Compare and contrast Italian and German fascism in the interwar years.
While both Italian and German fascism in the interwar years were very similar, they were
ultimately more different due to their political ideologies, foreign policies and the structure of their
respective parties. Fascism, while not having a concrete definition can be defined by multiple
attributes. Fascism usually consist of a ultra right wing, oppressive and authoritarian government
that places a heavy emphasis on national identity. As such, fascist governments promote violence
and the expansion through wars with the intent of imperialism.

While much of my previous knowledge of country ideology has been through historians such as
Weinberg and Overy and Finaldi, I have found that the most helpful way to learn about the
ideology and goals of different countries is through the use of speeches from different political
leaders at the time. While the historian s point of view helps to summarize the speeches in their
entirety, the speeches from the leaders allows for personal interpretation based upon the language
and the events that precede it. While I have found speeches to be helpful, the limitations must still
be thought of. First, many of the speeches are originally given in foreign languages, where
translations are needed. These translations could change the meaning of some themes and could
hinder one s ability to understand the magnitude to the language that is used in its original form.
It can also be limited because much propaganda was used at the time. The speeches mostly being
given to the entire country leave much room for the leader to use propaganda for the country to
believe in his beliefs, rather that what the leader may be saying to his cabinet. While there is a
wide range of ways to find information, it is also hard to look at secondary sources, because while
they make different arguments, the arguments are based off of facts, that could be interpreted in
many different

working on an MLG Partner company. I would arrange events with giveaways to try and bring
more attention and activity to that arena as they are called and would like to bring that over

Assessing Education As An Educator
Assessing Education
As an educator in an ever demanding society the roles that are required are not only numerous but
critical to future prosperity as well. For years educators have been in the mix of progress from
promoting revolutions, establishing rights, setting up protocols and they are the communicators of
the very essence of knowledge itself. From Plato and Aristotle to Sigmund Freud and Erik Erickson
education has made great leaps and bounds to keep up with society; however, one question always
comes up. How are they sure that the methods they practice are effective? To combat and reinforce
the standards that education was setting up assessments would become the norm for testing out
how knowledge was being transitioned from teacher ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Taking a look inside the classroom there are numerous examples of being used interchangeably to
infer information. Many institutions issue out end of the year survey s or course evaluations that
allow students to rate the effectiveness of the teacher and to recommend changes to the curriculum.
Summative assessments appear in the classrooms as the more popular types of assessments
receiving grades at the end of a semester, or taking placement exams at the beginning of registration
for students. As one can see with the examples listed both forms of assessment are commonly being
used and have different avenues for teachers to implement them into the lesson plan. Knowing that
these are the two main categories many students or critics of the education community pose the
question on whether to keep assessments separate or to combine them into one big field. While
combining the two types may seem reasonable on paper, within the education community being
able to get feedback from the students is how teachers can test their effectiveness and recognize
which aspects of the lesson need to be tailored. While summative assessments are important to the
student because this is the more recognized way of proving ones knowledge in a specific area.
Collecting, inferring and testing these results have become the system we know today. The

Fat Tax Rebuttal
Fat Tax: Rebuttal The fat tax is a proposed tax on certain unhealthy foods that lead to the
development of certain medical conditions such as obesity. As obesity is a growing concern of
many Americans, arguments can be made about how effective a fat tax may be if implemented. The
opposing group argues that the implementation of a fat tax would discourage the consumption of
unhealthy foods, reduce costs of medical treatment, and obtain government funding. Although our
opposition has some strong points, there are still unanswered questions that need to be addressed.
The opposition claims that a fat tax would deter Americans from eating harmful junk food. They
compare a fat tax to the sin tax on cigarettes, which they claim has lowered cigarette usage in
America. However, much like cigarettes, fatty foods are filled with addictive chemicals that make
people crave more (Engber). Our opposition claims that because the sin tax helped lower the usage
of cigarettes the fat tax will theoretically do the same for unhealthy foods. However, they fail to
mention that the decline of cigarettes is also attributed to strict laws on their usage and the new...

Our opponents are wrong in assuming that the fat tax would reduce obesity. The tax would not help
lower obesity as well as the sin tax lowered the use of cigarettes, since the two carry two different
connotations. Claiming that the tax would lower obesity solely through speculation is illogical.
Additionally, the opposition s statement that a fat tax would deter people from purchasing
unhealthy foods and that the government would use the money collected from the fat tax to fight
obesity contrast each other. These fallacies in our opponent s argument show that the reasons for
the fat tax are full of misconceptions and conflicting viewpoints. That is why opposing the fat tax is
the most logical thing to

The Science Fiction Genre And Genre Essay
The science fiction film genre has been around almost as long as movies have, but like the cinema
it is still a fairly young art form. This genre came into existence shortly after the invention of the
movie camera in 1888 and has endured for over one hundred years. Science fiction is adaptive; it
changes with the times and this trend can be seen in its incorporation of other genres, cultural
history and technology. This essay will attempt to define the genre, chronicle the history and
evolution, and explore its relation to technology. This is in general and in the cinema.
When discussing the science fiction film genre a problem occurs. The distinction between science
fiction and other genres is not always clear cut. Many movies span between the science fiction
genre and other genres. Movies such as The Ring (2002) or the Alien series (1979, 1986, 1992,
1997) illustrate how the distinction between science fiction and horror films can be obscure.
(Telotte 46) Some comedies, such as Mars Attacks (1996) and Back to the Future (1985), are very
much science fiction. (Mitchell 133) In fact there is an example of a science fiction film fitting into
almost any genre. Starship Troopers (1997) parallels a war film and Outland (1981) resembles a
western in many respects. (Telotte 45)
The characteristics that define the science fiction genre can be difficult to pin down. A genre such
as the western has easily identifiable characteristics such as cowboys, guns, the wild west, and bad

The Treaty of Versailles was a controversial treaty, not only because of what it embodied, but what
it took to get the Treaty in motion. The Great War, or World War I, lasted between 1914 and 1918.
This war occurred over a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, political alliances between
nations, ethnic tensions in Europe, and most of all, the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand
in Austria Hungary. With the bloody stalemate continuing without any end, the United States still
held its position as a neutral world power, but events, such as the sinking of the Lusitania, caused
the United States to recant its neutral position to a position in fighting against Germany. The end of

The United States And The Arab Countries Essay
of either the capitalist block, led by USA or the Socialist block led by the former USSR. In that
global division of Africa and Arab Countries, both Ethiopia and the Gulf Arab Countries was strong
adherent with the capitalist block. Both enjoyed American and West European political patronage
and protection. Thus imperial Ethiopia and the Gulf Arab Countries were partners against the
spread of socialist and radical political ideas in this part of the world (Hoynes 1993).
Surprisingly, their strong and pro capitalist political alliance did not led to significant involvement
of the rich Gulf Arab Countries in Ethiopian economic development during the rule of Emperor
Haile Sillassie. We are not very sure about the rate of involvement Gulf Arab countries in other
African Countries during the same period. But it is still very curious to know the reasons for
complete absence of GCC Arab Countries investment in the Imperial Ethiopia.
One may assume that the political crisis that erupted after formal abolition of the federal status of
Eritrea in 1962 ignited resentment and anger in the Arab Worldincluding the Gulf Arab Countries
(Bahru, 1991). The Eritrean Federal status, prescribed by the UN General Assembly provided that
Arabic would be the second official language Muslims of Eritrea would enjoy full fleshed equality
in both cultural and political terms. Thus the abolition of the Federal status could evoke anger and
frustration in Eritrea and the neighboring Muslim Arab World.

Family Planning And Birth Control
Family planning is one of the most important choices women or couples can end up deciding on.
When it comes to family planning, timing is pretty much everything. There are some instances
when women have a hard time deciding if they are physically and mentally prepared to bring a
child into this world. This is when pregnancy options come into play, such as whether or not to
raise a child, to what birth controlto take, and if abortion or adoption is an option that they might
consider. However, when women are faced with that uncertainty of becoming a mother the topic of
birth control is typically addressed when family planning. Throughout the ages, birth control
methods have evolved in order to provide women with the ability to effectively prevent pregnancy.
There are in fact many different varieties of birth control that help prevent unwanted pregnancies
and that don t ultimately interfere with the physiological changes that occur within a woman s
body. The variety of the available birth control methods and devices allows identification of
methods of varying degrees of effectiveness, mechanism
( preventing fertilization fusion of egg cell and sperm or preventing implantation of a fertilized egg
cell), and interference with physiological changes that occur in the female body (natural birth
control methods and artificial methods of contraception) (Kulesza, Dobrzycka, Sobieranska,
Korzeniecka Terlikowski, 2014)

The Lizzie Borden case has mystified and fascinated those interested in crime forover on hundred
years. Very few cases in American history have attracted as much attention as the hatchet murders

Biphasic cuirass ventilation is a method of external ventilation that is considered to be a modern
improvement of the iron lung. With this type of negative pressure ventilation it is possible for the
patient to acquire a large amount of tidal volume as well as a high respiratory rate. Most of the
more common methods of ventilation are determined by the elastic recoil of the chest which, in
return, restricts the respiratory rate. Complications, such as infections, that are usually associated
with the invasive method of ventilation can be avoided when using this non invasive ventilation
technique. Instead of participating with one or the other, biphasic cuirass ventilation has the
capability to utilize both phases of respiration, the expiratory and inspiratory phases.
Sometimes when a patient is on the more common form of mechanical ventilation for an extended
time or if the patient has undergone respiratory failure, their respiratory muscles have a tendency to
become weak. With the use of this biphasic cuirass ventilation method they can have the
opportunity to build and strengthen those muscles which, in return, can allow them to be weaned
from the ventilator

Essay On College Drinking
College is often a time of discovery. Students learn educationally along with self exploration. Many
students have not experienced living on their own exclusive of parental regulations. This new
responsibility encompasses self accomplishments, self discovery, and life lessons from mistakes.
Students that go to college often participate in drinking, partying, and binge drinking. This behavior
is frequently excused as what is ordinary of college students. Exploration of college student
drinking behaviors have relied profoundly on samples including majority of Europeans Americans
along with a few minorities students. This study concerns Hispanic students as the majority and
their involvement in alcohol consumption. This study s hypothesis was that both men and women s
alcohol consumption could be anticipated based on acculturation. Furthermore, the study estimated
that men regularly ingest more alcohol and participate in binge drinking compared to women. A
public university along the Texas and Mexico border had 309 students volunteer to participate in
the study. The total Hispanic ethnicity students included in the study was 296. The study wanted to
use typical college student so they eliminated nontraditional students that participated. This resulted
in an ultimate total mean age of around 21 years with 193 Hispanic men and 75 Hispanic women.
Participants were recruited, contacted directly by research assistants, or heard about it through

Effective Malaria Treatment Is Fraught With Challenges
Effective malaria treatment is fraught with challenges. Resistance is seemingly around the
corner for every previously superlative drug, while being deeply entrenched among those
medications that a few decades ago were vital to chemotherapy. For artemisinin, the first signs of
resistance were observed in a 2008 study of parasite clearance times following monotherapy with
artesunate. Clearance was slower among patients from the Eastern Thai Cambodian border than
that of patients from the Thai Myanmar border to the West (Dondorp et al., 2009). Though an
alarming fact on its own, when coupled with the proportional increase of such slow clearing
infections from 0.6% in 2001 to 20% in 2010 with rates approaching 42% in Cambodia one must
conclude that there is cause for alarm (Flannery et al., 2013). Resistance is not only emerging but
also spreading. Now more than ever we have need of new medicines as well as new approaches for
producing those medicines. The link to plant physiology among Plasmodiumspp. is basically
irrefutable and imperatively needs further investigating. By elucidating essential biosynthetic
pathways behind such compounds like abscisic acid, we can find hitherto unknown targets as well
as broaden our knowledge of the evasion mechanisms that are at the disposal of our protozoan foes.
Evasion is the primary response of malariain response to the immune systems efforts and this tactic
appears to have been extended to one of the most powerful drugs we have.

Feudalism In Europe During The Middle Ages
Feudalism was a political and economic system and culture in Europe during the Middle Ages
(Sheldon) In 911 AD, Charles the simple, king of France, granted Rollo, head of a Viking army, a
part of French territory known as Northmen s Land or Normandy. Rollo then swore a pledge of
loyalty to the king ( Feudalismin Europe 360). 850 to 950 AD was the worst time of invader s
attacks. Charles and Rollo made similar agreements to make system of government called
feudalism. It was also based on rights, obligation, landholding and protective alliances (

Example Of A Psychological Test
Have you ever taken a psychological test? Psychological tests are used to measure one s attributes.
According to the article, How is a Psychological Assessment Used, psychological testing is done to
help a psychologist, better understand an individual and provide valuable insights into the
individual s behavior, skills, thoughts and personality. An example of a psychological test is, the
Thematic Apperception Test (TAT) which evaluates thoughts, attitudes, and responses to
questionable test materials. The TAT and its pictures evolved during the 1930s and early 1940s.
The pictures used were in a constant state of flux with additions, deletions, and modifications
(Morgan, W. G. 2002). The Thematic Apperception Test is an individual assessment, known as the
picture interpretation technique. Whereas, the test taker is shown pictures and asked to tell a story
about the pictures. The pictures used for this psychological test include cards which are, blank,
male figures, female, ambiguous gender, and children. Most practitioners choose a set of
approximately ten cards, either using cards that they feel are generally useful, or that they believe
will encourage the subject s expression of emotional conflicts relevant to their specific history and
situation (Cramer, P. 2004). The assessment for TAT can be used to; reveal motivations, and
understanding of one s personality through projecting themselves onto the pictures and how they
are feeling. Thus, each answer the subject

Younger Dryas Research Paper
The area of which I decided to focus on was specifically parts of Scotland which were eroded and
shaped but the effects of the Younger Dryas. This period of glacial activity occurred around
10,800 10,600 BP and was the last great real push of ice activity in the British Isles starting
around loch Lomond and fanning out across Scotland. The ice itself covered a large part of
Britain as lowered temperatures of around 2 6 degrees Celsius allowed the ice to remain, locking
in large amounts of sea water and shaping the landscape as it moved across the land, creating U
shape valleys and other glacial features such as drumlins. It wasn t until temperatures increased that
the ice began to retreat and the landscape below was revealed, highlighting the true carving force

The glacier itself is controlled throughout a year by its balance, a summer balance combined
with a winter balance. In the winter there is heavy snowfall, so large amounts of accumulation
with little amounts of ablation. On the flip side when it comes to summer there is large amounts
of ablation and a small amount of accumulation, the mass of a glaciers depends on the
accumulation and ablation it suffers throughout the year. If the glaciers is cold based it freezes
to the ground making it hard to move and in turn erode the landscape, most if not all the erosion
occurs in a warm based glacier. The differing colour of each glacier is important, cold based
glaciers are white in colour, with little material being picked up but on the flip side warm based
glaciers are very dirty in colour and laden with material which helps the erosion

The Classic Inferno By Dante Alighieri
The classic Inferno by Dante Alighieri is beautifully woven to reflect the realities or unrealities
of the time. The various circles of hell are used by the writer to tell the tale in a free flowing
manner (Havely, 98). Interesting, however, is the manner in which he describes the characters
such that they are seen to be facing tragedies in their life in hell. The writer categorizes the
different types of sins that people can commit and subjects the characters to various punishments,
each of which is in a separate circle in hell. Lawall opines that the writer uses a style that makes the
reader envision themselves in the poem (Lawall, 17). In so doing, the writer subjects the characters
to relatively tragic states even though they... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The story narrates that Francesca and Paolo are both punished in hell for their adultery and thus
the subjection to the circle of lust (Alighieri, 1012). She expounds that she had been married to
Paolo s brother Gianciotto. Francesca discloses that she was not shy of expressing her feelings
towards Paolo, who she loved even though she was married to his brother. One day, she reveals,
her husband caught them together inside her bedroom and was sure that they were lovers.
Francesca opened the door and pretended that all was well before her husband. Unknown to
Francesca, Paolo had got stuck in a ladder as he attempted to run away. Gianciotto then killed the
two of them, although he had not intended to kill his wife. The circumstance that led to her death
is an emphasis of the beauty of love. When Gianciotto jumped to slay Paolo with his sword,
Francesca rushed in between and faced the death first. The husband was too disappointed and
ended up killing Paolo as well. The portrayal of the two characters as lovebirds and the lack of
love between Francesca and her husband show the reality that was then (Alighieri, 1013). The
writer further says, through Francesca, that Gianciotto was thrown into the circle of Caina for
killing his family members. This assertion, in character is a balanced move to portray both parties
(Francesca and Gianciotto) as losers in the fight. However, the fact that

What Is Ethical Issues In Marketing
Introduction
Business Ethics and Marketing, in this essay I will elaborate on key factors, such as, positive
outcomes and negative outcomes of marketing. I will touch on issues that are important in certain
aspects of business ethics that derives from marketing as well as the well being of the community. I
will further elaborate on the outcomes of these consequences that have an impact on the people,
planet and profit.
My judgment of marketing is the systematic series of actions between the service and product with
the consumer completing the purchase. Marketing is not all about advertising or distributing flyers.
It consists of having the right pricing objective and promotional mix to entice consumers into
purchasing the product or service at a reasonable price, and that the promotion is appealing. Ethics
in marketing is vital; it compromises on cutting and rising of prices, marketing at selective
locations only, and false information of a specific product or service that may cause a bad name to
the company s associations. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

After 1776 Loyalists felt the urge to remain allies with Great Britain. This urge came from their
own sense of protection and personal gain. Although other American colonists choose a different
political standpoint, they were Patriots. They lived for independence and liberty away from the
power of the king of Great Britain. However Loyalists supported the king and the traditional ways
of Great Britain. American colonists would support Great Britain as Loyalists for their own sense

As a child I remember being read and told a hundreds of stories. There is this one story that
stands out to me the most. It is a story that my nana and papa would always tell me to try and get
me to learn about patience. Although, as a kid I did not think of it as a learning opportunity, but
more as story time at nana s and papa s house. Now I look back at all of the stories that they told
me I really appreciate the story of the Jack and the Bean Stalk.
In the story Jack is just a young boy who is staying with his mother, who is a widow, together
with their milk cow who happens to be their only source of livelihood. A time comes when the
milk cow no longer gives milk and thus Jack s mother instructs him to take their milk cow to traders

presents it to the giant whereby he has rights for visitation with the harp. In return, the giant gives
Jack gold coins so as to assist him and his mother survive. This marks the end of the tale and Jack
together with his mother live happily ever after. The moral of this story is that when as a child your
parent sends you somewhere, like the market, do exactly what you are asked. Jack had a very
simple task to accomplish, sell the cow and bring back the money home to buy food for the
family. However, Jack gets convinced by a swift talking salesman selling beans. Moral of this story,
children should listen to their parent when s/he instructs them to execute a task. The other lesson is
that never let your eyes become larger than your wallet.
Inspite of the kindness shown by the wife of the giant, Jack desires the possessions of the giant;
the gold coins, the hen laying the golden eggs together with the harp. This simple action leads
Jack towards the wrong path and this is where our next lesson comes in. What is yours is simply
yours, and what is theirs is

On August 6th 1945, the United States, led by Harry Truman, decided to drop the atomic bomb on
Hiroshima, Japan, forever changing warfare. This paper will be dedicated to why Harry Truman
decided to use the atomic bomb on Japan and the effects that this decision had on humanity
afterward. The creation of the atomic bomb, and subsequently the Manhattan Project, was created
in response to the belief that the German Government was in the process of creating atomic
weapons. This belief was expressed to President Roosevelt in a letter written to him by Albert
Einstein, who introduce Roosevelt to the ability of atomic weapons and shared with him that the

This attitude was only compounded when United States Government were informed of the
treatment of American prisoners of war after the Battle of Bataan in the Philippines, which
resulted in the Bataan Death March in April 1942. The Bataan Death March was a 65 mile
march in which American and Filipino prisoners of war were gathered into groups of 100 and
forced to march North towards Camp O Donnell. The prisoners were given little food or water
during the march, which led to starvation and extreme fatigue for many of the soldiers. On
occasion, soldiers would break formation to try and drink stagnant water of the sides of the
road, after having their canteens emptied by the Japanese. These actions resulted in being
bayoneted or shot. Other actions by the Japanese were dragging prisoners behind trucks, making
the prisoners sit in the sun for hours without shade, and random executions . This brutal
treatment of these prisoners resulted in over 5,000 deaths and has been labeled as one of the
worst atrocities in modern wartime history. These events led the United States to have an attitude
of revenge for the rest of the war, which played a factor in the decision to use the atomic bomb on
Japan, which Truman made evident by stating, The Japanese began the war from the air at Pearl
Harbor. They have been repaid many fold. Revenge was only part of the equation for the decision

The Potential And Its Effects On Cancer Cells
Limitless replicative potential is an acquired capability of many cancer cells, and it was listed as
one of the original hallmarks of cancer [1]. It is mostly achieved by upregulation of telomerase, a
reverse transcriptase DNA synthesis enzyme that maintains the telomeres length. Most tumor cells
have a high level of telomerase activity but short telomeres due to prior divisions before achieving
telomerase activating malignancies [2]. In contrast, normal progenitor cells and stem cells have
relatively long telomeres and lower mitotic/telomerase activity, and in normal differentiated somatic
cells telomerase expression is repressed. Thus, telomerase inhibition provides an attractive
therapeutic opportunity because of its universality, criticality and specificity for cancercells [3].
Numerous strategies have been proposed for silencing this enzyme [reviewed in 2 3], but due to
heterogeneity and complexity of cancers, as well as polymorphisms in human genomes, the search
for effective and precise treatments for polymerase inhibition is still active.
Nanotechnology is the latest evolving field, and its applications in cancer therapeutics have
demonstrated great potential. Specifically, nanomedicine utilizes the advantages of nanodelivery
systems [4]. The nanocarrier system is a new system for transporting biological molecules that has
the advantages of being highly efficient, non immunogenic, safe, inexpensive, biodegradable, and
stable [4].

The Consequences of Bringing the Past with You Immediately into Tim O Brien s short story
The Things They Carried the reader is introduced to First Lieutenant Jimmy Cross and the letters
he carried from his past back home. Throughout the story, readers are also introduced to other
items and supplies which were largely determined by necessity (O Brien 1) as well as items
deemed a luxury that each individual soldier carried with him for one reason or another. Pictures,
memorabilia, and personal items all acted as a gateway into a portal which would bring them
back home to the ones they loved if only for five minutes at a time. Although the pictures,
memorabilia and personal items of Cross and his soldiers alike, helped them recall back to an era
much more peaceful, the consequences of bringing the past with you can carry exceedingly
negative side effects.
Within the short story, the audience learns that Jimmy Cross carries letters and pictures from his
crush from back home, Martha. Multiple times within the story Jimmy Cross consults these pictures
and letters to distract himself from the war providing a bit of comfort in his harsh environment.
With progression through the story, readers find Jimmy Cross continuously reviewing the pictures
and letters from his dear Martha, letting his mind drift off thinking about her, distracting him from
his duties at hand. These distractions happen more and more often, eventually leading to the most
harrowing consequence. First Lieutenant Jimmy Cross s divergence from his important tasks at
hand, result in Ted Lavender being killed while under the supervision of Cross himself. This
being the key turning point for Cross, as he starts to realize his lapse in judgment and focus, had
directly cost the life of one of his soldiers. This resulting in him discovering that the pictures and
letters from Martha, he was using as hope for his future back home, and comfort from the issues at
hand, were the stemming source of all his problems and distractions, which ultimately cost the life
of his soldier. Because of this realization, Cross burns the pictures and letters from Martha, which
he was holding onto in hopes that she

Packaging And Labelling Are Two Important Aspects Of...
Introduction:
Packaging and Labelling are two very important aspects of modern marketing, which puts a
significant effect on the success of the business. Labelling is considered as a wrapper or container
of the product whereas a part of the printed or written note that is put on the package is considered
as the label.
Colourful paper labels, the first form of commercial art was first brought forward by a European
artist. It is both used as a product identifier and an eye catcher for the consumers since 1880.This
art, which later became a profession of lithography, was used on packaging cases of fruits, boxes
of cigars and on cans of vegetables. The world s first self adhesive labels was established by an
entrepreneur, R.Stanton Avery and it turned to a very profitable business.
In the recent days, all sorts of companies takes huge interest in packaging and labelling their
products, keeping their targeted customers on mind and these have now become a very successful
business entity. Nevertheless, these have to be continuously innovated and recreated to keep the
mass consumers attracted towards the product. Packaging and labelling help marketing the product
in a numerous ways and thus through these the companies can reach the targeted consumers,
ultimately making a strong place in the retail market. Still, the Australian market of packaging and
labelling is comparatively minor in terms of international standards.

The Power Of Louisa May Alcott
As stated by intellectual Joseph Wong, influence is our inner ability to lift people up to our
perspectives (Young Ch. 6). Throughout history, numerous writers have utilized their ability to
impact their readers to encourage their audience to follow the author s principles and beliefs.
Louisa May Alcott, born in Pennsylvania in 1832, was the type of writer to use her power to
influence her lectors views on the topics and issues that she was passionate about. Alcott s
father, Amos Bronson Alcott, was a writer, lecturer, and educator, and her mother, Abba May,
was a strong willed and independent woman and bright educator. Her brilliant parents helped
Alcott grow to be an intellectual, an independent female, and, as mentioned by Clark Moreland
in one of his lectures, ...a dark headed, volatile, and energetic child ( Lecture 3.4... ). After her
parents fell into deep debt, Alcott began to work to support her family. She served as a
seamstress, teacher, and, of course, a writer. As an open minded individual, Alcott was an
advocate of many causes and policies, and, through her compositions, she shared her beliefs to
guide her readers towards integrating her ideals into their lives. For instance, in 1863, Alcott
released her work My Contraband, first titled The Brothers. The piece featured a Civil War nurse,
Faith Dane, in the Union side who was in charge of caring for a captured, dying Confederate
captain and had a mulatto contraband, a slave who escaped to the Union side,

The Pros And Cons Of Tort Law
Within Tort Law it has been acclaimed by most, that UK courts are not in favour of negligent
claims brought against the police force. There is no doubt that a police officer owes a duty to
protect the public However, in many regards the police aren t found to be guilty to owe any such
duty. The Tort of negligenceproclaims that one must be owed a duty of care to claim, otherwise
negligence caused to the claimant due to the conduct of the defendant, is held without regard. As
stated in the PoliceAct 1964 The chief officer of police for any police area shall be liable in respect
of torts committed by constables under his direction
It was firstly suggested that the courts show willingness to invoke public policy principles of
immunity where certain groups of defendants were sued in negligence , to which the case facts in
Hill v Chief Constable of West Yorkshire Police [1988] will shine light on. Moreover, one may
suggest that the emergency services should be free to carry out their line of work without the
conscious threat of liability. If one was to act in such a way as that which threatened overriding
liability, it is questionable as to whether an officer would act in a defensive state of mind, as stated
by Lord Keith in Hill .
It may well be considered that the courts specifically deny claims against the emergency services,
invoking public policy, as observed in Capital and Countries Bank plc v Hampshire CC [1997]
and John Munroe Ltd v London Fire and Civil Defence Authority Others [1997] . The fire
brigade, like the police force are too exempt on the grounds of no duty is owed to an individual if
an emergency call is not responded to.
Policy is essentially concerned with the notion of Duty of care and maybe considered the fourth
element required for a negligence claim, primarily used to disregard claims against the police.
The principles of duty of care are centred around the cases of Donoghue v Stevenson (1932) , Hill
and Caparo Industries PLC v Dickman [1990] .
The case of Donoghue v Stevenson [1932] has been instrumental to the foundations of Tort Law,
following the notion that since this case negligence has rapidly developed into the cornerstone of
our system for compensating

Conformity Vs. Conformity Theory
Conformity theory is used to explain why people eat bugs, smoke cigarettes, enjoy boring tasks,
following trending wardrobe styles, and under appreciate enticing options (Jones Mills, 1999).
These tactics are performed in an effort to maintain consistent views among group members and
reduce the number of attitude conflicts and tension (Matz Wood, 2005). Conformitywill be defined
as changing one s own response to be consistent with other group member s responses (Asch,
1955b). Asch s work supports the notion that people will change their views and behaviors in
order to fit in with a group. They may even go as far as to express a clearly wrong response if
those around them are in agreement (Asch, 1956). While research has shown short term conformity
effects; there are few studies that look at the lasting changes that follow the act of conforming. The
goal of this study is to see if conformity expressed in groups can translate into private acceptance
that will be carried on after the initial study is conducted.
Prior studies have shown that in a group environment there are two main drives; the need of an
individual to belong, and the need for organization among the group (Asch, 1955a). An individual
s need for approval and intimacy from those they are closest to is linked to the fact that approval
has to come before any social bond can be formed and maintained (Baumeister Leary, 1995).
Human beings are social creatures by nature with an intense need to belong.

Analysis Of The Devil In The White City
In the 1890s, the upcoming Columbian Exposition was all that the people of the United States
talked about. Nicknamed World s Fair, it was supposed to lead America through the 20th century
and into the future. The fair was designed in the hopes of outshining the Paris Exposition and its
main attraction the Eiffel Tower, yet no man was able to tell of the trials and tribulation at the fair
and its architects would face in the years leading up to the exposition and in the aftermath of it. The
Devil In The White City, written by Erik Larson, is a nonfiction text that goes in depth into the
murder, magic, and madness that took place during the time of the World s Columbian Expositionin
Chicago. Larson mainly focused on two extremely important people who he believed transformed
the World s Fair. Daniel Hudson Burnham, the leading architect, and director of the fair and the
Urban Serial Killer, Dr. H. H. Holmes, previously known as Herman Webster Mudgett. Throughout
the duration of the text, Larson constantly switches back and forth from the separate, yet
intertwined stories of Burnham and Holmes. Larson explores Burnham s role in the construction of
the fair and Holmes path to corruption. Through the telling of the events that lead up to the fair and
after it, Larson makes the argument that appearances can be deceiving and that the shell of beauty
can hide danger and evil. While Holmes was the obvious devil/serial murderer and Burnham can be
credited with building the White

Groundwork of the Metaphysics of Morals by Emmanuel Kant
In his book, Groundwork of the Metaphysic of Morals, Kant explores the issues of human morality,
and attempts to seek out and establish the supreme principle of morality (Kant 60). Despite
acknowledging that human beings will still most likely act morally, whether or not they have a
clear understanding of moral principles, Kant explains that a clearer understanding of moral
principles can allow individuals to fulfill their moral obligations, and keep their motivations pure.
Kant starts off, in the preface, by stating that Ancient Greek philosophy was divided into three
sciences: physics, ethics, and logic (Kant 55). Physics being the study of natural philosophy, and
the world of material objects; ethics, the study of moral philosophy, and on what basis human
beings ought to act; and logic, the study of empirical knowledge, independent of material objects.
These three fields then fall into categories of empirical or non empirical philosophy. In the
Groundwork, Kant decides to focus on pure, non empirical ethics, which he refers to as a
metaphysic of morals (Kant 56). In attempting to develop an a priori concept of morality based on
reason, as opposed to empirical observations, Kant comes to the conclusion that a free will and a
will under moral laws are one and the same (Kant 114). This statement ties together Kant s aim in
the Groundwork, in that the supreme principle of morality is developed through the notion of
freedom, as it, then, provides a basis for morality.

How Technology Can Be Dangerous For Youth
In this day and age, technology is a major part of our everyday lives. Think of our schedules and
where technology fits into them. We wake up, with an alarm clock; technology. We make breakfast,
in a microwave; technology. We commute, in cars; technology. Almost everything we do involves
technology. One form that commonly occupies our attention and focus is social media. Social
media is any communication that can be done using electronics. Not only do older people find
themselves immersed in social media, but so do children. This form of technology can be
dangerous for youth, tactically imbedding snares, which can easily entangle them. One thing, or
person should I say, that children don t think about when they are networking on social media, is
the adult predator. According to the article Children Must Be Protected from the Content of Social
Networking Web Sites, found on the Online Social Networkingwebsite, while on dating sites or
even profiling media, kids do not remember to think about the sneaky adults that are targeting
them. These adolescents are very vulnerable. They can accidentally give out too much information
to these older people. Little do they know that these thirteen year olds that they are talking to are
actually creepy old men wanting to do terrible things. They are subjected to stalking, kidnapping,
rape, and other acts of violence from these pathological liars (Racine). By the time they realize that
their new best friend has lied to them and is

Type A Personality Analysis
The results of the four personality tests all agree that I value relationships and ideas that can be
seen, touched, and felt. I identify strongly with these core characteristics. However, because of the
high emotional scores, the tests tend to lean towards a humanitarian personality. While I care about
others and do hold convictions on certain matters, the activist theme is not accurate. In my early
career, because of my emotional intelligence, I was encouraged to engage in studies involving
social work, counseling, and teaching. My first two years of college were focused on education
until I realized my brand of emotional intelligencewould fit better in a business organization,
specifically human resources. The relational and emotional characteristics come from my Type A
personality. The need to be accepted by my peers will be an ongoing challenge in my career. I do
think relationships are extremely important to achieving goals. I have experienced that it takes time
and effort to develop and maintain relationships with my staff, but it has enabled my team to buy in
to our recruitment initiatives.
The Myers Briggs test indicated that I have a slight preference for introversion over extraversion.
This result surprised me as I feel a strong pull towards introversion. As a faculty recruiter it is

Theme Of A Worn Path
A Worn Path by Eudora Welty, written in 1941, is a short story about an elder, Negro woman,
Phoenix Jackson, traveling along a well worn path to an unknown destination. As the title suggests,
this is a path that she has taken many times. The main theme represented in A Worn Path is that a
person would endure and overcome the forces of nature and society for those they love.
Eudora Welty introduces the character Phoenix Jackson in a way that illustrates that Phoenix is a
person who endures forces of nature and society; and the meaning of her name is a large hint to the
theme of endurance. William M. Jones introduces the idea that Phoenix is a reference to the
legendary bird that is reborn throughout time; one that endures. In his literary critic, William M.
Jones writes, The references at the beginning of the story announce rather clearly that a
comparison with the legendary bird is intended. The similarity becoming more pronounced as the
story progresses. The reference to the bird of endurance can be seen throughout the story,
especially when the reader concludes that Phoenix does not remember why she is traveling the
path. Her loss of memory is a reference to the Phoenix dying; and at the end of the story, Phoenix
remembering her reason for the journey is a representation of being reborn.
Welty s diction and the time period that the short storywas written also gives the reader context
into Phoenix s endurance of the wrath of society. Phoenix is described as an

In 1877 the south was far behind the north, to spite having more railroads. The south did not
have electricity, Public school s public health services or even telephones. From 1880 to the 1900
s the south started building railroads and from 1880 to 1890 they doubled their tracks. They also
began producing iron and steel, while also starting their own set of goods like timber mills,
tobacco and textile mills. In the South a weak agricultural economy, and a high rural birthrate
decreased wages severely. low wages undermined the southern economy in multiple ways. The
poorly paid workers did not buy much or provide tax revenue limiting funding for education. Low

In 1880, Mail, telegraph, railroad, and the newspaper brought the city to life again thanks to the
attention of farm families. In turn farm families visited nearby towns and cities more often
helping boost their economy. In the south close to 250,000 landowners had joined the National
Grange of the Patrons of Husbandry by 1875. The grange was a large majority landowner s who
did not have the same goals and ideas as the small farms did, causing much chaos. The group that
held the most power was the Southern Farmers Alliance, the Alliance sponsored farmer s
cooperatives provided their members with discounts on supplies and credit. By the late 1890 s
it had more than a million members most of which were active in their communities. One thing
that stood out however was Alliance did not accept black members to join their group. In the
year 1886 black farmers created the first Colored Farmers Alliance in Texas. To protect the
cotton and to make sure it would be safely shipped to market. The farmers would wrap it in a
burlap sack like material called jute to protect it. In 1888, jute manufacturers agreed together to

Symptoms And Treatment Of Head Injuries
Head injuries can be fatal or may cause permanent disability or damage to the brain if it is not
identified and treated in a timely manner. A computed tomography head scan done within one
hour after a traumatic event will allow for rapid treatment and improve the outcomes for patients
with head injuries that may have damaged to the brain. When used appropriately, the benefits of
a computed tomography far exceed the risks. Computed tomography head scans can provide
detailed information to diagnose, plan treatment, and evaluate many conditions in adults and
children. Computed Tomography imaging also known as CT or a CAT scan, combines a series
of x ray images taken from different angles and uses computer processing to create cross
sectional images also known as slices of the bones, blood vessels, and soft tissue inside the body.
The CT scan reveals anatomic details of internal organs that cannot be seen on conventional x
rays. A motorized table moves the patient through a circular opening of the CT scanner known as
the gantry which houses the x ray tube. As the patient passes through the CT system, the x rays
rotates around the opening. A beam of x rays exposes the patient as the table moves in and out of
the scanner in a series of phases. Detectors on the opposite side of the patient record the x rays
exiting that section of the patients body. They then produce cross sectional views or slices. The
data is then sent to a computer to reconstruct all of the individual

1960s And 70s American Feminism Essay
During, the 1960s and 70s American Feminist Movement, women had begun to protest for the same
human rights as men. The main areas of protest in The United States of America were Boston, Los
Angeles, and New York City. There were many ways to protest, including writing, art, and
organizations. There were many writers who wrote about feminismduring this time, some include
Betty Friedan, Robin Morgan, and Kate Millett. Art also encouraged feminism, specifically the
paintings by Judy Chicago and Miriam Schapiro. There were many feminist groups that protested
for equal rights, some of which were The National Black Feminist Organization, The National

Betty Friedan wrote the book based on a survey she did for her former Smith College classmates
on the their fifteenth anniversary reunion. The results of the survey showed that many of her
former classmates were unhappy, despite being affluent and married with children. The reason
her Smith College alumnus were so unhappy was due to the fact that their lives consisted of
taking care of her family and children, but not doing anything that held significance to
themselves and the nation. Her book The Feminine Mystique, was a major influence of the

housewives who were financially stable with children, the book impelled women to fight for a
change in salary, the workplace, and laws; during a time where women did not have the same equal

Norm Referenced Test
orm referenced tests have successfully been used to evaluate the development in children and youth
and are often used for early intervention. These tests determine how a child compares
developmentally with peers of similar age, gender, socioeconomic status, race, ethnicity, and
geographic location (Grisham Brown, Hallam, loca Lyons Pretti Frontczak,2014). Results from
norm referenced tests are helpful in identifying students who need additional academic support and
identify specific learning disabilities, such as autism and dyslexia (Norm Reference, 2015). These

Introduction. Nurses Play A Key Role In End Of Life Care.
Introduction
Nurses play a key role in end of life care. The quality of nursing care in hospice has changed over
the years due to nurses advocating to change practices. Today, hospice care focuses on comfort
instead of the cure. The nurse s responsibility is to protect the patient from burdensome
interventions while providing comfort. The nurse s role extends to family support and spiritual
needs. Precise documentation is an integral component of communication within the nursing care
team. End of life care (EOLC) includes the decision making process, nursing care for patient and the
family, pain and symptom management, saying goodbye, and support of the healthcare team

When patient care can no longer be managed by the family in the home, the nurse advocates for the
best placement options available. Some patients do not have family members to assist in the plan of
care and the nurse takes on the responsibility of trying to meet the patients specific needs. These
needs are determined by different assessments including spiritual beliefs. The patients beliefs play a
pertinent role in EOLC in narrowing placement options. During the final stages in the dying
process, the nurse is not only providing nursing interventions as needed to keep the patient
comfortable but she is educating the family about why certain treatments are needed. The role of
the hospice nurse in response to family experiences has implications for practice and future
research. (Kim Martz, 2015) The role of the nurse in hospice specific documentation is indicate care

EOLC. The study included six nurses from an inpatient hospice unit. EOLC does not aim for a cure
for the patient but comfort during the dying process. Different diagnoses, outcomes, and
interventions are relevant for EOLC. The patient at this stage in the dying process is at risk for
constipation, skin breakdown, ineffective airway clearance, aspiration, and falls. Some nurses in the

Impeachments For Senators
The requirements for Senators are an interesting point in the Constitution, and it surprises me that
they remain identical to this day. Each senator serves for six years. It s interesting that each
elected Senator serves for three times as long as a Representative and for two years more than the
President, without re election of course. Senators are required to be five years older than
Representatives, but five years younger than the president, and they are also responsible for the
Impeachment process. It s interesting that Treason requires at least two eye witness to overt
treason, or open admission within court, and the punishment can only be against the person who
committed the crime, and not their associates or family. George Mason,

Squeaky Character Analysis

At first, you might interpret that Squeaky is not nice at all when she is really, is a confident girl
who does not like to be a chicken. This takes place in New York City on 34th street. When
Squeaky is walking down Broadway with Raymond, her brother, all of a sudden she sees Gretchen

Malcolm X the Tragic Hero

Malcolm X and The Shakespearean Tragic heroes
Aristotle defines a tragic hero as good but flawed, must be aristocratic, must be believable, and must
behave consistently. Aristotle. The Muslim leader Malcolm Xcan be compared to such tragic
heroes such as Othello and Hamlet. Malcolm s life and his personality have similar traits from
both of the famous Shakespearean heroes. In this paper we will look deeper into the life of

Malcolm X can also be referred to as one of the great tragic heroes. Malcolm X was born Malcolm

To understand the phrase tragic flaw we can take it as Aristotle had stated it The tragic flaw is the
most important part of the hero and the events that occur in the work is a reflection of that flaw. В–
Aristotle. So just as in the case of Othello, Malcolm s tragic flaw is gullibility. Many people
because of their personal magnetism respect both these men. Malcolm is highly respected by
many because of his ability to get results and by the way he is able to gain followers with his
rhetoric. Othello is revered because of his awesome military genius. Malcolm and Othello both
have very high self confidence, which is shown by the way Malcolm argues beliefs and in the
way Othello justifies his marriage to Desdemona. Since both Othello and Malcolm X came from
humble and unsophisticated beginnings their judgment was somewhat hindered. In the play
Othello Iago one of the main characters sees this in Othello the Moor is of a free and open
nature that thinks men honest that but seem to be so. (1:3:55:442 443). Iago knew of Othello s
weakness. He also knew Othello s innocence and baseness makes him susceptible to being
undermined by people. Othello is clearly a person who believes appearances versus reality. The role
of Iago in Othello s life can be compared to the role of Elijah Muhammad in Malcolm s life.
Malcolm and Othello base their reactions and decisions solely on the advice of the one who
ultimately brings about their end. In Othello case he doesn t even

The Validity And Reliability Of The Measure
The Wechsler scales are a measure used to assess intelligence of people; as with any measure, it is
important to evaluate the validity and reliability of the measure. Intelligence, for psychometric
tests, refers to the innate overall cognitive ability. There are four versions of the Wechsler scales:
the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children4th edition (WISC IV; Wechsler, 2003) for children
aged 6 16, the Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence Revised for children aged 4 6
1/2 (WPPSI R; Wechsler, 1989) the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale
4th edition (WAIS IV;
Wechsler, 2008) and the Wechsler Abbreviated Scale of Intelligence 2nd edition for adults (WAIS
R; Wechsler, 1981).
In order to calculate the final IQ, the raw scores are converted into a standardized scale.
Whitaker and Wood (2008) showed, through analysing the WISC III, that the standardization of
sub scores into one score (such as standardizing results to out of ten or one hundred) will
systemically result in some participants IQ being higher than it would be without the conversion
(Wechsler, 2004; Whitaker, 2010). So, the validity of the measure is compromised. This could be
avoided through unifying the number of questions asked for each sub section. Yet the perhaps
more misleading and unavoidable lack of accuracy in a specific IQ score is from having different
levels of intelligence in the sub sections. For example, a person might do very well at the verbal IQ
(vocabulary, arithmetic) and

  • 2. Analysis Of The Monotheistic Religion Of Judaism Judaism is one of the most controversial and known religions in the world. Judaism plays a major role in history, as it almost went extinct during the reign of one of the most brutal people to ever live. But many people don t know much about the religion, just that it went through tough times or took brutal events during war time. I believe that it is good to inform others about the monotheistic religion of Judaismand it s beliefs, because many people ask the same question : How does the Jewish religion differ from Catholicism? There are many ways to answer this question, but I will deconstruct this by developing 3 different questions to analyse not only the main question, but to analyse Judaism as a whole. What is the Jews opinion of Jesus?... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An example of a similarity is their belief in one God. Both religions are monotheistic and believe in one true divine being. But even this common belief of the two religions has been broken down further. Although both believe that God the holy one, Judaism does not accept the popular belief of the Holy Trinity. The Holy Trinity is the three very important sections of beings that make up God: The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit. Judaism insists on the notion of believing in ONE God, being strictly monotheistic. As Judaism understands this idea, God cannot be made up of parts, even if those parts are mysteriously united. The Christian notion of trinitarianism is that God is made up of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Such a view, even if called monotheistic because the three parts are, by divine mystery, only one God, is incompatible with the Jewish view that such a division is not possible. • 3. Individual Disclosure Decisions In addition to analyzing the information, disclosers also consider the quality of relationship with the audience, and predict how the audience is likely to respond when making disclosure decisions (Greene, 2009). Typically, individuals will choose to disclose to those with whom they have a higher relational closeness and quality, while concealing with those who are more distant. However, situations arise that contradict these assumptions, as in the case of public disclosure of private information. The individuals in this study disclose to an audience that varies in relational closeness. Researchers have not yet accounted for individuals who reveal private information in public; consequently, they do not understand what rules govern these individuals decisions. In this... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In addition to assessing the information to be disclosed, anticipated response is another method disclosers utilize to determine whether to reveal their private information. Typically, individuals only disclose when they have confidence in an accurate prediction of the audience s response (Greene, 2009). Other scholars (Jellison Riskind, 1977; Jourard, 1971b; Omarzu, 2000; Taylor, 1968) have examined the rewards by which disclosers are motivated. Omarzu (2000) named five social rewards: intimacy, or the pursuit of closeness; social control, wherein the audience can bestow benefits or rewards for disclosure; social approval, or attempts to increase acceptance and liking; relief of distress, during which individuals talk about problems and negative emotions to relieve stress; and lastly, identity clarification, which helps to clarify self knowledge. As individuals goals change and they desire differing social rewards, the disclosure changes either in content or in the targeted audience (Omarzu, 2000). In the present study, individuals disclose private information to a large, diverse ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

East of the Mississippi, there were over 40,000 Indians, comprised of Cherokee, Creek, Chickasaw, and Choctaw tribes. Indian leaders told the Spanish in 1784, The Americans...put us out of our lands, extending themselves like a plague of locusts in the territories of the Ohio River we inhabit. The Americans took Indian land and traded alcohol to Indians, causing them to lose senses and give land out of reason. In 1790, the Americans faced a great defeat against Little Turtle and his tribe. Out of the 1800 soldiers sent to capture the land, only 900 came out alive. The battle has no name. Anthony Wayne returned and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Digital Light On Millions Of Mirrors WRIT340 Illumin Article Heetaek Yang Prof. Warford Shine Light on Millions of Mirrors: Digital Light Processing Projector Abstract A digital light processing projector is a type of display device that uses a digital micro mirror chip. The most common application of this projector is in movie theaters. In movie theaters, films are shown by digital light processing projector, which emits light through color wheel and reflects it with micro mirror chip. The two main technologies of digital light processing projector, color wheel and micro mirror chip are engineered so precisely that it can create at least 16.7 million colors and refresh a screen 120 times per second [1]. The technology of digital light processing projector is continuously moving forward and soon it will be prevalent in home theaters. Introduction Recall our middle school memory in which we used to have one overhead projector in every classroom. A teacher writes on a transparency sheet with a colored pen and a lamp under the black box shines on the transparency sheet and the shadow of footprint is shown on the screen through the mirror that is above the black box. It was very analog in a sense that it could only project a still sketch and its color reproduction is very limited. Late 1990 s is the beginning of the digitalization and our engineering endeavor at overhead projector is Digital Light Processing projector. It may sound very high technologic, however, the science behind it is quite straightforward ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Case Involving Medical Negligence 1.Introduction In the case of Gregg v Scott, The House of Lords confronted the issue of financial recovery for the loss of chance in a case involving medical negligence. By a majority of 3 2, their Lordships refused to recognize loss of chance as leading to a recovery of damages. This paper will examine the judgments of Lord Nicholls and Lord Hoffmann. Representing the dissenting and majority judgment respectively, they have presented a set of arguments that were most compelling for cases of medical negligence dealing with a loss of chance. This paper will distinguish the judgments of both Lordships and will examine the reasoning behind their arguments while finally touching upon criticisms of their respective positions. 2.The ... Therefore, the claimant had to argue that, on the balance of probabilities, the negligence of the defendant was a result of the injury to establish causation. In this case, the injury is the loss of chance of recovery. The claimant argued inter alia, that even though he was deprived of his recovery and could not recover damages, he ought to recover for the loss of chance of recovery due to the negligence on the part of the defendant. 3.History of Litigation 3.1Trial Court Judgment The trail court judge explained that Dr. Scott was negligent for failing to show that the growth might not have been benign. However, the judge ruled that the defendant had breached his duty of care. On the question of whether the negligence of the defendant was a contributing factor to the claimant being unlikely to survive ten years, the court held that the claimant would have had no chance to survive the ten year period, even with treatment. The trial judge, Judge Inglis, relied on expert evidence at the time of the misdiagnosis that Mr. Gregg had a 42 per cent chance of survival in a period of 10 years, with 10 year survival being the cure . However, because of the delay in diagnosis, it had reduced Mr. Gregg s prospects to a 25 per cent. Mr. Gregg argued a loss of chance in court. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

But, most of the food humans consume probably comes from factory farms. Factory farms consist of large buildings that confine animals in order to prevent diseases but also to produce foodfast and more efficiently. Factoryfarms help produce more food to feed the world. World hungercontinues to be a growing issue and has caused issues for quite some time. Factory farms increase production and help feed the world. Due to an increase in population factory farms holds the world s food supply in check. Factory farms produce more animals in a quicker matter than any other place. • 8. How To Write An Argumentative Essay On African American... American Dream Argumentative Draft Everyone thinks it s so easy and cool to join Armed Forces, but to be honest, half of them don t even know what the effects would be when they join and after they leave the military. People usually take our veterans for granted and they don t acknowledge what veterans have done for us and our country. Veterans should be shown respect when they come back home, but they don t and to me that s just disrespectful and it also shows how out of line citizens are. Everyone who has fought for their country, chose to fight, they never had to, but because they seen that people needed to be protected, they put their lives on the line. The least we could do is say Thank you! but no, they don t even get that and that s really messed up. They took a bullet for this country, they lost their lives for this country, they have nightmares every night because of things they had to see while defending this country. What do we do to show them our appreciation though? Nothing. As a result, most veterans don t feel a sense of belonging and loyalty to their country. Many African Americanveterans salute and pledge an oath of loyalty to their country, but even after they have protected it, they don t get protection back in return. All the black soldiers who have came back or have been killed while in the frontline, either don t get remembered, get disrespected, or get killed when they come back from serving. After all ... While both Italian and German fascism in the interwar years were very similar, they were ultimately more different due to their political ideologies, foreign policies and the structure of their respective parties. Fascism, while not having a concrete definition can be defined by multiple attributes. Fascism usually consist of a ultra right wing, oppressive and authoritarian government that places a heavy emphasis on national identity. While much of my previous knowledge of country ideology has been through historians such as Weinberg and Overy and Finaldi, I have found that the most helpful way to learn about the ideology and goals of different countries is through the use of speeches from different political leaders at the time. While the historian s point of view helps to summarize the speeches in their entirety, the speeches from the leaders allows for personal interpretation based upon the language and the events that precede it. While I have found speeches to be helpful, the limitations must still be thought of. First, many of the speeches are originally given in foreign languages, where translations are needed. These translations could change the meaning of some themes and could hinder one s ability to understand the magnitude to the language that is used in its original form. It can also be limited because much propaganda was used at the time. The speeches mostly being given to the entire country leave much room for the leader to use propaganda for the country to believe in his beliefs, rather that what the leader may be saying to his cabinet. While there is a wide range of ways to find information, it is also hard to look at secondary sources, because while they make different arguments, the arguments are based off of facts, that could be interpreted in many different ... For years educators have been in the mix of progress from promoting revolutions, establishing rights, setting up protocols and they are the communicators of the very essence of knowledge itself. From Plato and Aristotle to Sigmund Freud and Erik Erickson education has made great leaps and bounds to keep up with society; however, one question always comes up. Many institutions issue out end of the year survey s or course evaluations that allow students to rate the effectiveness of the teacher and to recommend changes to the curriculum. Summative assessments appear in the classrooms as the more popular types of assessments receiving grades at the end of a semester, or taking placement exams at the beginning of registration for students. As one can see with the examples listed both forms of assessment are commonly being used and have different avenues for teachers to implement them into the lesson plan. Knowing that these are the two main categories many students or critics of the education community pose the question on whether to keep assessments separate or to combine them into one big field. While combining the two types may seem reasonable on paper, within the education community being able to get feedback from the students is how teachers can test their effectiveness and recognize which aspects of the lesson need to be tailored. While summative assessments are important to the student because this is the more recognized way of proving ones knowledge in a specific area. As obesity is a growing concern of many Americans, arguments can be made about how effective a fat tax may be if implemented. The opposing group argues that the implementation of a fat tax would discourage the consumption of unhealthy foods, reduce costs of medical treatment, and obtain government funding. Although our opposition has some strong points, there are still unanswered questions that need to be addressed. The opposition claims that a fat tax would deter Americans from eating harmful junk food. They compare a fat tax to the sin tax on cigarettes, which they claim has lowered cigarette usage in America. However, much like cigarettes, fatty foods are filled with addictive chemicals that make people crave more (Engber). Our opposition claims that because the sin tax helped lower the usage of cigarettes the fat tax will theoretically do the same for unhealthy foods. However, they fail to mention that the decline of cigarettes is also attributed to strict laws on their usage and the new... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Our opponents are wrong in assuming that the fat tax would reduce obesity. The tax would not help lower obesity as well as the sin tax lowered the use of cigarettes, since the two carry two different connotations. Claiming that the tax would lower obesity solely through speculation is illogical. Additionally, the opposition s statement that a fat tax would deter people from purchasing unhealthy foods and that the government would use the money collected from the fat tax to fight obesity contrast each other. These fallacies in our opponent s argument show that the reasons for the fat tax are full of misconceptions and conflicting viewpoints. • 16. The Science Fiction Genre And Genre Essay The science fiction film genre has been around almost as long as movies have, but like the cinema it is still a fairly young art form. This genre came into existence shortly after the invention of the movie camera in 1888 and has endured for over one hundred years. Science fiction is adaptive; it changes with the times and this trend can be seen in its incorporation of other genres, cultural history and technology. This essay will attempt to define the genre, chronicle the history and evolution, and explore its relation to technology. This is in general and in the cinema. When discussing the science fiction film genre a problem occurs. The distinction between science fiction and other genres is not always clear cut. Many movies span between the science fiction genre and other genres. Movies such as The Ring (2002) or the Alien series (1979, 1986, 1992, 1997) illustrate how the distinction between science fiction and horror films can be obscure. (Telotte 46) Some comedies, such as Mars Attacks (1996) and Back to the Future (1985), are very much science fiction. (Mitchell 133) In fact there is an example of a science fiction film fitting into almost any genre. Starship Troopers (1997) parallels a war film and Outland (1981) resembles a western in many respects. (Telotte 45) The characteristics that define the science fiction genre can be difficult to pin down. A genre such as the western has easily identifiable characteristics such as cowboys, guns, the wild west, and bad ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Great War, or World War I, lasted between 1914 and 1918. This war occurred over a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, political alliances between nations, ethnic tensions in Europe, and most of all, the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand in Austria Hungary. With the bloody stalemate continuing without any end, the United States still held its position as a neutral world power, but events, such as the sinking of the Lusitania, caused the United States to recant its neutral position to a position in fighting against Germany. In that global division of Africa and Arab Countries, both Ethiopia and the Gulf Arab Countries was strong adherent with the capitalist block. Both enjoyed American and West European political patronage and protection. Thus imperial Ethiopia and the Gulf Arab Countries were partners against the spread of socialist and radical political ideas in this part of the world (Hoynes 1993). Surprisingly, their strong and pro capitalist political alliance did not led to significant involvement of the rich Gulf Arab Countries in Ethiopian economic development during the rule of Emperor Haile Sillassie. We are not very sure about the rate of involvement Gulf Arab countries in other African Countries during the same period. But it is still very curious to know the reasons for complete absence of GCC Arab Countries investment in the Imperial Ethiopia. One may assume that the political crisis that erupted after formal abolition of the federal status of Eritrea in 1962 ignited resentment and anger in the Arab Worldincluding the Gulf Arab Countries (Bahru, 1991). The Eritrean Federal status, prescribed by the UN General Assembly provided that Arabic would be the second official language Muslims of Eritrea would enjoy full fleshed equality in both cultural and political terms. • 20. Family Planning And Birth Control Family planning is one of the most important choices women or couples can end up deciding on. When it comes to family planning, timing is pretty much everything. There are some instances when women have a hard time deciding if they are physically and mentally prepared to bring a child into this world. This is when pregnancy options come into play, such as whether or not to raise a child, to what birth controlto take, and if abortion or adoption is an option that they might consider. However, when women are faced with that uncertainty of becoming a mother the topic of birth control is typically addressed when family planning. Throughout the ages, birth control methods have evolved in order to provide women with the ability to effectively prevent pregnancy. There are in fact many different varieties of birth control that help prevent unwanted pregnancies and that don t ultimately interfere with the physiological changes that occur within a woman s body. The variety of the available birth control methods and devices allows identification of methods of varying degrees of effectiveness, mechanism ( preventing fertilization fusion of egg cell and sperm or preventing implantation of a fertilized egg cell), and interference with physiological changes that occur in the female body (natural birth control methods and artificial methods of contraception) (Kulesza, Dobrzycka, Sobieranska, Korzeniecka Terlikowski, 2014) Birth control doesn t just involve wearing a condom, using the ... With this type of negative pressure ventilation it is possible for the patient to acquire a large amount of tidal volume as well as a high respiratory rate. Most of the more common methods of ventilation are determined by the elastic recoil of the chest which, in return, restricts the respiratory rate. Complications, such as infections, that are usually associated with the invasive method of ventilation can be avoided when using this non invasive ventilation technique. Instead of participating with one or the other, biphasic cuirass ventilation has the capability to utilize both phases of respiration, the expiratory and inspiratory phases. Sometimes when a patient is on the more common form of mechanical ventilation for an extended time or if the patient has undergone respiratory failure, their respiratory muscles have a tendency to become weak. With the use of this biphasic cuirass ventilation method they can have the opportunity to build and strengthen those muscles which, in return, can allow them to be weaned from the ventilator ... Resistance is seemingly around the corner for every previously superlative drug, while being deeply entrenched among those medications that a few decades ago were vital to chemotherapy. For artemisinin, the first signs of resistance were observed in a 2008 study of parasite clearance times following monotherapy with artesunate. Clearance was slower among patients from the Eastern Thai Cambodian border than that of patients from the Thai Myanmar border to the West (Dondorp et al., 2009). Though an alarming fact on its own, when coupled with the proportional increase of such slow clearing infections from 0.6% in 2001 to 20% in 2010 with rates approaching 42% in Cambodia one must conclude that there is cause for alarm (Flannery et al., 2013). Resistance is not only emerging but also spreading. Now more than ever we have need of new medicines as well as new approaches for producing those medicines. The link to plant physiology among Plasmodiumspp. is basically irrefutable and imperatively needs further investigating. By elucidating essential biosynthetic pathways behind such compounds like abscisic acid, we can find hitherto unknown targets as well as broaden our knowledge of the evasion mechanisms that are at the disposal of our protozoan foes. An example of a psychological test is, the Thematic Apperception Test (TAT) which evaluates thoughts, attitudes, and responses to questionable test materials. The TAT and its pictures evolved during the 1930s and early 1940s. The pictures used were in a constant state of flux with additions, deletions, and modifications (Morgan, W. G. 2002). The Thematic Apperception Test is an individual assessment, known as the picture interpretation technique. Whereas, the test taker is shown pictures and asked to tell a story about the pictures. The various circles of hell are used by the writer to tell the tale in a free flowing manner (Havely, 98). Interesting, however, is the manner in which he describes the characters such that they are seen to be facing tragedies in their life in hell. The writer categorizes the different types of sins that people can commit and subjects the characters to various punishments, each of which is in a separate circle in hell. Francesca discloses that she was not shy of expressing her feelings towards Paolo, who she loved even though she was married to his brother. One day, she reveals, her husband caught them together inside her bedroom and was sure that they were lovers. Francesca opened the door and pretended that all was well before her husband. Unknown to Francesca, Paolo had got stuck in a ladder as he attempted to run away. Gianciotto then killed the two of them, although he had not intended to kill his wife. The circumstance that led to her death is an emphasis of the beauty of love. When Gianciotto jumped to slay Paolo with his sword, Francesca rushed in between and faced the death first. The husband was too disappointed and ended up killing Paolo as well. The portrayal of the two characters as lovebirds and the lack of love between Francesca and her husband show the reality that was then (Alighieri, 1013). The prisoners were given little food or water during the march, which led to starvation and extreme fatigue for many of the soldiers. • 36. The Potential And Its Effects On Cancer Cells Limitless replicative potential is an acquired capability of many cancer cells, and it was listed as one of the original hallmarks of cancer [1]. It is mostly achieved by upregulation of telomerase, a reverse transcriptase DNA synthesis enzyme that maintains the telomeres length. Most tumor cells have a high level of telomerase activity but short telomeres due to prior divisions before achieving telomerase activating malignancies [2]. In contrast, normal progenitor cells and stem cells have relatively long telomeres and lower mitotic/telomerase activity, and in normal differentiated somatic cells telomerase expression is repressed. Thus, telomerase inhibition provides an attractive therapeutic opportunity because of its universality, criticality and specificity for cancercells [3]. Numerous strategies have been proposed for silencing this enzyme [reviewed in 2 3], but due to heterogeneity and complexity of cancers, as well as polymorphisms in human genomes, the search for effective and precise treatments for polymerase inhibition is still active. Nanotechnology is the latest evolving field, and its applications in cancer therapeutics have demonstrated great potential. Specifically, nanomedicine utilizes the advantages of nanodelivery systems [4]. The nanocarrier system is a new system for transporting biological molecules that has the advantages of being highly efficient, non immunogenic, safe, inexpensive, biodegradable, and stable [4]. Although the pictures, memorabilia and personal items of Cross and his soldiers alike, helped them recall back to an era much more peaceful, the consequences of bringing the past with you can carry exceedingly negative side effects. Within the short story, the audience learns that Jimmy Cross carries letters and pictures from his crush from back home, Martha. Multiple times within the story Jimmy Cross consults these pictures and letters to distract himself from the war providing a bit of comfort in his harsh environment. With progression through the story, readers find Jimmy Cross continuously reviewing the pictures and letters from his dear Martha, letting his mind drift off thinking about her, distracting him from his duties at hand. These distractions happen more and more often, eventually leading to the most harrowing consequence. First Lieutenant Jimmy Cross s divergence from his important tasks at hand, result in Ted Lavender being killed while under the supervision of Cross himself. This being the key turning point for Cross, as he starts to realize his lapse in judgment and focus, had directly cost the life of one of his soldiers. This resulting in him discovering that the pictures and letters from Martha, he was using as hope for his future back home, and comfort from the issues at hand, were the stemming source of all his problems and distractions, which ultimately cost the life of his soldier. Because of this realization, Cross burns the pictures and letters from Martha, which he was holding onto in hopes that she ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Packaging And Labelling Are Two Important Aspects Of... Introduction: Packaging and Labelling are two very important aspects of modern marketing, which puts a significant effect on the success of the business. • 39. The Power Of Louisa May Alcott As stated by intellectual Joseph Wong, influence is our inner ability to lift people up to our perspectives (Young Ch. 6). Throughout history, numerous writers have utilized their ability to impact their readers to encourage their audience to follow the author s principles and beliefs. Louisa May Alcott, born in Pennsylvania in 1832, was the type of writer to use her power to influence her lectors views on the topics and issues that she was passionate about. Alcott s father, Amos Bronson Alcott, was a writer, lecturer, and educator, and her mother, Abba May, was a strong willed and independent woman and bright educator. Her brilliant parents helped Alcott grow to be an intellectual, an independent female, and, as mentioned by Clark Moreland in one of his lectures, ...a dark headed, volatile, and energetic child ( Lecture 3.4... ). After her parents fell into deep debt, Alcott began to work to support her family. She served as a seamstress, teacher, and, of course, a writer. As an open minded individual, Alcott was an advocate of many causes and policies, and, through her compositions, she shared her beliefs to guide her readers towards integrating her ideals into their lives. For instance, in 1863, Alcott released her work My Contraband, first titled The Brothers. The piece featured a Civil War nurse, Faith Dane, in the Union side who was in charge of caring for a captured, dying Confederate captain and had a mulatto contraband, a slave who escaped to the Union side, ... • 40. The Pros And Cons Of Tort Law Within Tort Law it has been acclaimed by most, that UK courts are not in favour of negligent claims brought against the police force. There is no doubt that a police officer owes a duty to protect the public However, in many regards the police aren t found to be guilty to owe any such duty. The Tort of negligenceproclaims that one must be owed a duty of care to claim, otherwise negligence caused to the claimant due to the conduct of the defendant, is held without regard. As stated in the PoliceAct 1964 The chief officer of police for any police area shall be liable in respect of torts committed by constables under his direction It was firstly suggested that the courts show willingness to invoke public policy principles of immunity where certain groups of defendants were sued in negligence , to which the case facts in Hill v Chief Constable of West Yorkshire Police [1988] will shine light on. Moreover, one may suggest that the emergency services should be free to carry out their line of work without the conscious threat of liability. If one was to act in such a way as that which threatened overriding liability, it is questionable as to whether an officer would act in a defensive state of mind, as stated by Lord Keith in Hill . It may well be considered that the courts specifically deny claims against the emergency services, invoking public policy, as observed in Capital and Countries Bank plc v Hampshire CC [1997] and John Munroe Ltd v London Fire and Civil Defence Authority Others [1997] . The fire brigade, like the police force are too exempt on the grounds of no duty is owed to an individual if an emergency call is not responded to. Policy is essentially concerned with the notion of Duty of care and maybe considered the fourth element required for a negligence claim, primarily used to disregard claims against the police. The principles of duty of care are centred around the cases of Donoghue v Stevenson (1932) , Hill and Caparo Industries PLC v Dickman [1990] . The case of Donoghue v Stevenson [1932] has been instrumental to the foundations of Tort Law, following the notion that since this case negligence has rapidly developed into the cornerstone of our system for compensating ... • 42. Conformity Vs. Conformity Theory Conformity theory is used to explain why people eat bugs, smoke cigarettes, enjoy boring tasks, following trending wardrobe styles, and under appreciate enticing options (Jones Mills, 1999). These tactics are performed in an effort to maintain consistent views among group members and reduce the number of attitude conflicts and tension (Matz Wood, 2005). Conformitywill be defined as changing one s own response to be consistent with other group member s responses (Asch, 1955b). Asch s work supports the notion that people will change their views and behaviors in order to fit in with a group. They may even go as far as to express a clearly wrong response if those around them are in agreement (Asch, 1956). While research has shown short term conformity effects; there are few studies that look at the lasting changes that follow the act of conforming. The goal of this study is to see if conformity expressed in groups can translate into private acceptance that will be carried on after the initial study is conducted. Prior studies have shown that in a group environment there are two main drives; the need of an individual to belong, and the need for organization among the group (Asch, 1955a). An individual s need for approval and intimacy from those they are closest to is linked to the fact that approval has to come before any social bond can be formed and maintained (Baumeister Leary, 1995). Human beings are social creatures by nature with an intense need to belong. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Nicknamed World s Fair, it was supposed to lead America through the 20th century and into the future. The fair was designed in the hopes of outshining the Paris Exposition and its main attraction the Eiffel Tower, yet no man was able to tell of the trials and tribulation at the fair and its architects would face in the years leading up to the exposition and in the aftermath of it. The Devil In The White City, written by Erik Larson, is a nonfiction text that goes in depth into the murder, magic, and madness that took place during the time of the World s Columbian Expositionin Chicago. Larson mainly focused on two extremely important people who he believed transformed the World s Fair. Daniel Hudson Burnham, the leading architect, and director of the fair and the Urban Serial Killer, Dr. H. H. Holmes, previously known as Herman Webster Mudgett. Throughout the duration of the text, Larson constantly switches back and forth from the separate, yet intertwined stories of Burnham and Holmes. Larson explores Burnham s role in the construction of the fair and Holmes path to corruption. Through the telling of the events that lead up to the fair and after it, Larson makes the argument that appearances can be deceiving and that the shell of beauty can hide danger and evil. • 47. Groundwork of the Metaphysics of Morals by Emmanuel Kant In his book, Groundwork of the Metaphysic of Morals, Kant explores the issues of human morality, and attempts to seek out and establish the supreme principle of morality (Kant 60). Despite acknowledging that human beings will still most likely act morally, whether or not they have a clear understanding of moral principles, Kant explains that a clearer understanding of moral principles can allow individuals to fulfill their moral obligations, and keep their motivations pure. Kant starts off, in the preface, by stating that Ancient Greek philosophy was divided into three sciences: physics, ethics, and logic (Kant 55). Physics being the study of natural philosophy, and the world of material objects; ethics, the study of moral philosophy, and on what basis human beings ought to act; and logic, the study of empirical knowledge, independent of material objects. These three fields then fall into categories of empirical or non empirical philosophy. In the Groundwork, Kant decides to focus on pure, non empirical ethics, which he refers to as a metaphysic of morals (Kant 56). In attempting to develop an a priori concept of morality based on reason, as opposed to empirical observations, Kant comes to the conclusion that a free will and a will under moral laws are one and the same (Kant 114). This statement ties together Kant s aim in the Groundwork, in that the supreme principle of morality is developed through the notion of freedom, as it, then, provides a basis for morality. ... • 50. Theme Of A Worn Path A Worn Path by Eudora Welty, written in 1941, is a short story about an elder, Negro woman, Phoenix Jackson, traveling along a well worn path to an unknown destination. As the title suggests, this is a path that she has taken many times. The main theme represented in A Worn Path is that a person would endure and overcome the forces of nature and society for those they love. Eudora Welty introduces the character Phoenix Jackson in a way that illustrates that Phoenix is a person who endures forces of nature and society; and the meaning of her name is a large hint to the theme of endurance. William M. Jones introduces the idea that Phoenix is a reference to the legendary bird that is reborn throughout time; one that endures. In his literary critic, William M. Jones writes, The references at the beginning of the story announce rather clearly that a comparison with the legendary bird is intended. The similarity becoming more pronounced as the story progresses. The reference to the bird of endurance can be seen throughout the story, especially when the reader concludes that Phoenix does not remember why she is traveling the path. Her loss of memory is a reference to the Phoenix dying; and at the end of the story, Phoenix remembering her reason for the journey is a representation of being reborn. Welty s diction and the time period that the short storywas written also gives the reader context into Phoenix s endurance of the wrath of society. Phoenix is described as an ... A computed tomography head scan done within one hour after a traumatic event will allow for rapid treatment and improve the outcomes for patients with head injuries that may have damaged to the brain. When used appropriately, the benefits of a computed tomography far exceed the risks. Computed tomography head scans can provide detailed information to diagnose, plan treatment, and evaluate many conditions in adults and children. Computed Tomography imaging also known as CT or a CAT scan, combines a series of x ray images taken from different angles and uses computer processing to create cross sectional images also known as slices of the bones, blood vessels, and soft tissue inside the body. The CT scan reveals anatomic details of internal organs that cannot be seen on conventional x rays. A motorized table moves the patient through a circular opening of the CT scanner known as the gantry which houses the x ray tube. As the patient passes through the CT system, the x rays rotates around the opening. A beam of x rays exposes the patient as the table moves in and out of the scanner in a series of phases. Detectors on the opposite side of the patient record the x rays exiting that section of the patients body. They then produce cross sectional views or slices. To understand the phrase tragic flaw we can take it as Aristotle had stated it The tragic flaw is the most important part of the hero and the events that occur in the work is a reflection of that flaw. В– Aristotle. So just as in the case of Othello, Malcolm s tragic flaw is gullibility. Many people because of their personal magnetism respect both these men. Malcolm is highly respected by many because of his ability to get results and by the way he is able to gain followers with his rhetoric. Othello is revered because of his awesome military genius. Malcolm and Othello both have very high self confidence, which is shown by the way Malcolm argues beliefs and in the way Othello justifies his marriage to Desdemona. Since both Othello and Malcolm X came from humble and unsophisticated beginnings their judgment was somewhat hindered. In the play Othello Iago one of the main characters sees this in Othello the Moor is of a free and open nature that thinks men honest that but seem to be so. (1:3:55:442 443). • 59. The Validity And Reliability Of The Measure The Wechsler scales are a measure used to assess intelligence of people; as with any measure, it is important to evaluate the validity and reliability of the measure. Intelligence, for psychometric tests, refers to the innate overall cognitive ability. There are four versions of the Wechsler scales: the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children4th edition (WISC IV; Wechsler, 2003) for children aged 6 16, the Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence Revised for children aged 4 6 1/2 (WPPSI R; Wechsler, 1989) the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale 4th edition (WAIS IV; Wechsler, 2008) and the Wechsler Abbreviated Scale of Intelligence 2nd edition for adults (WAIS R; Wechsler, 1981). In order to calculate the final IQ, the raw scores are converted into a standardized scale. Whitaker and Wood (2008) showed, through analysing the WISC III, that the standardization of sub scores into one score (such as standardizing results to out of ten or one hundred) will systemically result in some participants IQ being higher than it would be without the conversion (Wechsler, 2004; Whitaker, 2010). So, the validity of the measure is compromised. This could be avoided through unifying the number of questions asked for each sub section. Yet the perhaps more misleading and unavoidable lack of accuracy in a specific IQ score is from having different levels of intelligence in the sub sections. For example, a person might do very well at the verbal IQ (vocabulary, arithmetic) and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
