Clara Barton
I may be compelled to face danger, but never fear it, and while our soldiers can stand and fight, I
can stand and feed and nurse them. A quote by Clara Barton, American civil war nurse and
founder of the American National Red Cross (Lewis). By many, Clara is said to be The Angel of
The Battlefield , how does one acquire such a title (Allen)? Through her family life, her efforts
providing relief to soldiers on the front lines, and her work with the international and american red
cross, she earned the title of The Angel of the Battlefield (Clara Barton).
December 25, 1821, Clara Barton was brought into this world in North Oxford, Massachusetts.
Her father worked as not only a farmer but also as a state lawmaker. He even served in the
American Revolution (Allen). One of Clara s most famous quotes The patriot blood of my
father was warm in my veins (Lewis) illustrates her dedication to the patriot cause, likely brought
upon by her father s influence. Her mother, Sarah, was responsible for urging Clara to become a
teacher due to how well spoken and well read she was at such a young age (Clara Barton

after her brother who had fallen in. In exchange for her aid and care, Clara s brother taught her

The Two Chinese Philosophies Of Confucianism
The two Chinese philosophies of Legalism and Confucianism could not be more opposite. Even
though two of the writers of Legalism were students of Xinzu, a philosopher of Confucianism, there
are more of differences than similarities between the two. Because of this, legalism, which preceded
the concept of Confucianism, had a lot of reasons why Confucianism was considered wrong. While
towards the fall of the Qin Dynasty, Confucian beliefs started to revamp and become more widely
accepted and thus they were blended together to some extent, this was not the case beforehand, in
fact it could be argued that blending the two together seemed almost impossible. Confucianism
stressed the ideas of the knowledge, humaneness, and filial piety while legalism stressed power,
rewards and punishments, and agricultural wealth. Thus from a legalist standpoint, Confucianism
was considered wrong because it placed value on virtues instead of the laws, focusing on education
to prosper growth and moral character instead of simply obeying societal laws and valuing
agricultural wealth rather than humaneness Thus differences far exceed similarities between these
two ancient beliefs. However, both have made everlasting marks on Chinese culture and tradition
that to this day still exists.
Here is my suggestion for a more succinct and focused intro, deleting what you have above:

Mandatory Immunization Of Children For School Entry
On June 30, 2015, California governor Jerry Brown signed the new version of Senate Bill 277,
which eliminated California s personal belief exemption. These laws create a very low bar for
parents to obtain an exemption. Often they simply have to check a box stating they don t want to
vaccinate their children, and that is sufficient. States with personal belief exemptions have 2.5
times the vaccinerefusal rate as states with religious exemptions only. Essentially, the easier it is to
obtain a vaccine exemption, the lower the vaccinationrate. Personal belief exemption rates have
gone up dramatically since 1994. During a survey done by Alexander Capron for his medical
journal, Personal Beliefs Exemption from Mandatory Immunization of Children for School Entry ,
in 1994, schools on average had 0.6% of kindergarten students claiming personal belief exemptions;
by 2009, the number was 2.3%. By the 2013 2014 school year, schools, on average, had 3.15% of
kindergarten students claiming personal belief exemptions. While these percentages may seem low,
they are not evenly distributed: Some communities have much higher rates, and a recent research
paper demonstrated that those communities were most vulnerable to outbreaks.
Like all states, California requires that children attending all school levels must be immunized.
According to California State assemblymember, Lorena Gonzalez, the head author for Senate Bill
277, Existing law prohibits the governing authority of a school or

Tv Show Scream Queenss
The new TV show Scream Queens premiered September 22, 2015 on FOX. Scream Queens
centers on the Kappa Kappa Tau sorority, who is targeted by several killers dressed in red devil
outfits. The show mixes black comedy and the slasher subgenre with the classic whodunit. The
series includes violence, gore and the use of sexual language, the show tends to be more satirical
than terrifying. In addition, Scream Queens is a unique show because it parodies and pokes fun at
the horror genre. An analysis of the pilot episode from Scream Queens (2015 present) illustrates
how the TV aesthetics of the show develop and portray the themes of death, revenge and good vs
evil. Plus, demonstrates the mood of fear and humor and lastly, the narrative of a comedyand horror
/slasher genre. Scream Queens illustrates how post network television uses unique storytelling
methods that are distinguishable from classic TV network aesthetics. Ultimately, this essay will
explain how each aesthetic element: the narrative, cinematography, production design, sound and
editing illustrate how the show s genre mixing of horror and comedy creates an acceptable
representation of the horror genre on TV.

Anger Rumination Psychology
Anger experience is a basic emotion which predisposes sense of threat and negative appraisal
(Oatley, 1992). These experiences and cognitive appraisals activate or increases anger rumination
(Rusting Nolen Hoeksema, 1998). Repetitively unavoidable thinking about anger provoking
experiences has been considered as the main characteristic of angerrumination (Sukhodolosky et
al., 2001; Watkins, 2004) affects mental health indicators. Thus, it can be said that anger decreases
psychological well being and on the other hand increases psychological distress through activating
and increasing anger rumination.

What are Quality Systems, Products, Processes and...
Answer No 1: Distinguishing a solitary exhaustive meaning of quality is a testing attempt. Quality
is a multidimensional idea that includes; entomb alia, the solidness, dependability, area, outline
and tasteful claim, execution and wellbeing of an item. Item decision can additionally be dealt
with as a quality characteristic, despite the fact that it stays dissociable from the singular item
itself. Basically, quality is a relative idea, insofar as the level of value found in any one item is
characterized by reference to the quality levels of different items. Quality consolidates a huge
component of subjectivity, in light of the fact that certain quality perspectives may be significant

For comparative reasons the relationship between quality and costs is likewise to a degree vague.
These discoveries underline the way that the evaluation of value in connection to competition
must be directed on a case by case premise. The relationship between quality and the level of
competition inside a business is unverifiable and obscure both in principle and practice, a
characteristic that has a tendency to convolute the errand of including quality contemplations
inside any rival dissection. Dissimilar to costs, which by and large fall as competition increments,
expanded competition can either cause quality levels to climb, if firms start to contend all the
more overwhelmingly in connection to quality traits, or to fall, if the need to diminish costs
prompts an associative decrease in quality as handling expenses are cut. Therefore the relationship
between quality and competition is likewise to some degree uncertain, and needy upon the specific
business sector powers at issue. Answer No 2: Introduction Most organizations work in aggressive
markets: they need to assume and see off opponents. Every association must choose for itself how
best to attempt and do this. Not all organizations think of the same answer and for great reason.
Firstly, there are a few distinctive methods for picking up preference. Besides, organizations need to
play to their qualities and not all organizations have the same qualities. Thirdly, numerous markets

Nutella Makes Up for Cocoa Shortage During World War II
The period was World War II there was a shortage of cocoa at the time; Mr. Pietro Ferrero, a
pastry maker founder of the Ferrero company thought that using hazelnuts and mixing it with skim
milk and a little of chocolate would be a good way to appease the short supply of cocoa by
allowing chocolate to last longer. This still being the product s two main ingredients today; hazelnut
and cocoa. In Italy, during the 1940s; Mr. Ferrero created the Nutellaspread. In its earliest form,
Nutella a hazel nut and chocolate spread was originally called pasta Gianduja this of course was
the Italian term, pasta means paste and the Gianduja was the name of a famous character in the
region in Italy. The paste was first introduced by being made in the loaves of bread wrapped in
tinfoil, used to make sandwiches. A product popular to children, the bread was tossed away and
the paste was most favored. Later workers decided it would be best if the spread was made easier
to spread on the bread then being known as Supercrema Gianduja , thus being processed in large
jars with a yellow sticker on the middle and a red lid. Soon after in 1964 Pasta Gianduja or
Supercrema Gianduja the product was named Nutella: nut being the origin of the product and ella a
soft Italian term.
Nutella rapidly became popular among Italy. Just 25 years ago, in 1983 the Ferrero Company
introduced the product to the United States market and it was first imported to the Northeastern

All The Worlds A Stage And I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings
In the poems All the worlds a Stage by William Shakespeare, and I Know Why The Caged Bird
Sings by Maya Angelou are many similarities and differences in terms of literary elements such as
Imagery, Personification, and Theme. One important similarity between these poems is the use of
imagery. In the same way, another significant similarity is the use of personification element in
both poems. Moreover, one main differenceamong these two poems is their themes. One
important similarity between these two poems in terms of literary elements is the use of
imagery. In the poem All the Worlds a Stage , William Shakespeare uses many imagery
throughout the poem to illustrate the idea that people change and progress through the time
meaning that the life is a cycle or process. Shakespeare says, With eyes severe and beard of
formal cut, Full of wise saws and modern instances. (Stanza 1, line 18). Basically, this imagery
gives the reader a clear idea that throughout a lifetime people move forward. In the same way, the

are able to enjoy the freedom and luxury while the rights for black people are denied. Similarly,
William Shakespeare s poem has some personification as well as Angelou s poem. Shakespeare
says Jealous in honor, sudden and quick in quarrel, seeking the bubble reputation Even in the
cannon s mouth. (Stanza 1, line 13). The phrase Even in the cannon s mouth represents a clear
personification in which a men matures and is ready to face dangers without

Cause Of Ww1
The main cause of World War One was the assassination of the archduke of Austria Hungary,
Franz Ferdinand in June of 1914. Two months later, on August 4th, 1914 Great Britain declared
war. Ireland, at this time, was a part of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, and as a
result, they had become a part of the war as well. Before the war broke out, there were already
fifty eight thousand Irishmen enlisted in the British Army or Navy. During the duration of the
war, another one hundred thirty Irishmen were recruited as volunteers. These Irishmen joined
the armed forces for several different reasons. Some, because of political reasons, others joined
to send money to loved ones back home, and some were simply after the adventure that war
brought along with it. Tom Barry, who enlisted in the British military in June 1915, said he
joined to see what war was like, to get a gun, to see new countries and to feel like a grown man.
However, during the war, the unsung heroes of the war had been the Irish women. These women

Animal Farm Animal Control
Control, lies, and terror. These words describe the Animal Farm under Napoleon s rule. This 1945
book was based on the Russian revolution and used animals revolting against their owner to
describe events that took place in the real life rebellion. Napoleon has proven himself a similar
tyrant to Jones by acting controlling toward the animals, living the same lifestyle, and breaking his
agreements.
When Napoleon took leadership during the revolt against Farmer Jones, the power went straight
to his head, and that started reflecting how he treated the animals after they took over the farm.
Napoleon s actions were like a mirror; it reflected how Jones treated the animals before. It even
came to the extent of taking away a tradition that animals keep dear to their heart because it shows
honor and dignity. According to page 38 of Animal Farm, By George Orwell

of Comrade Napoleon, Beast of England has been abolished. From now onwards it was
forbidden to sing it. For Napoleon to gain more power he needed to take away something that
the animals honor to show he is the leader now, but if that song were never stated, most of the
animals would not have been motivated to help revolt against Farmer Jones. Every day the
animals were being forced to work, and if they did not, they would not get enough food to
survive. The animals were being treated like Napoleon s servants, but the animals were too

The Most Traditional Side of Firearm Usage in America
For generations and generations guns have been the icon of america. Guns can protect you from
criminals and dangerous situations. They surround us everyday, whether it be law enforcement
personnel, in movies, or advertisements. Guns can not only be used to protect the individual but
also the population from a tyrannical government, which is exactly why the founding fathers were
so intent on making guns the forefront of what america is all about. The down side to having guns
so relevant in society is the fact that often it can fall into the wrong hands.
The vast majority of american households have at least one fire arm in the house. This is mostly
because there is more of a comfort that people feel when they believe they could fend of a possible
intruder or attacker. Those that do not have firearms trust that the police will take care of whatever
situation might present itself. The average response time for the police is on average roughly
10 15 minutes. The average response time for a .357 magnum is 1300 feet per second. So using
a .357 to shoot a target standing 1ft away is 900 times faster than waiting 15 minutes for a police
officer. Many people have perished waiting for police while their home has been burglarized. With
some sort of firearm in the house that burglar could have easily been eliminated. if those
individuals would have had a firearm in their possession chances are they would still be living.

Age Is Only a Number in Peter Pan by J.M. Barrie Essay
Age Is Only a Number In J.M. Barrie s Peter Pan, young Wendy Darling and twelve year old John
Darling, along with Peter Pan, learn that maturity is not shown by age, but by attitude, as seen by
Wendy s motherlike attitude, John s fighting spirit and decision making, and Peter s immaturity at
times even though he is older. Wendy uses her attitude to help raise the Lost Boys and give them
the mother they need. John s headstrong attitude helps immensely in the fight against Captain
James Hook, as he is smart in fights and is able to make impactful decisions. Peter s immaturity

This is shown through his ability to easily help the Lost Boys and Peter Pan fight Captain Hook.
John does not think like a powerful warlord. He does, however, think in ways that many of the
other characters cannot. When Peter imitates the ticking noise that the crocodile that desires to kill
Hook and boards the ship late in the story, he strikes the quartermaster of the pirates. Thinking
quickly on his feet, John covers the mouth of the pirate, making sure he stays quiet. This helps
Peter remain quiet, an advantage which he uses later to finally kill Hook. John s quick thinking
helped end the fight against Hook. John also shows his maturity through his intelligent decisions.
John knew at times, it is best to pretend to act a certain way to avoid punishment or verbal abuse.
John and Michael, his very young brother, both pretended to be happy whenever Peter lost interest
in adventures, so as to not upset him. John would simply sit quietly when Peter would sit on a
stool, pretending to go on adventures. Denial of these adventures would certainly warrant poor
treatment from Peter, and John knew this. Therefore, John is also able to act mature even though he
is only twelve years old by exhibiting a great fighting mind and clever decision making ability,
unlike Peter Pan, who tends to act very immature and childish. Subsequently, Peter Pan

Drinking Age Persuasive Essay
When picturing college, people should think about huge classrooms, hard professors, and a
better learning experience than they have ever received before. In reality, two things come to
everyone s mind before anything else: partying every night and binge drinking. The United
States has some of the highest rates of underage drinking and hospitalizations due to alcohol
poisoning. In Barrett Seaman s article, How Bingeing Became the New College Sport, Seaman
argues that continually adding more restrictions to the drinking law could be making the issue
worse or maybe causing the entire problem. By focusing on college binge drinking, Seaman
convinces his readers that instead of twenty one, the US should lower the drinking age to
promote appropriate drinking habits. The drinking age set at eighteen was not originally an issue.
In the late 60s, the voting age was changed to eighteen; privacy laws were enacted; and the
drinking age, depending on each states decision, was lowered to eighteen as the new age that
legally defined adulthood (Seaman 1 2). Then in 1984, Congress was influenced by Mothers
Against Drunk Driving to pass a law that combined compliance of the states with federal aid
highway funds in exchange for the members support; forcing the states to raise the drinking age to
twenty one. There is no doubt that the law, which achieved full 50 state compliance in 1988, saved
lives, but it had the unintended consequence of creating a covert culture around alcohol as the

alcohol in public, underage alcohol related fatal car accidents became a major threat to our
countries public health. The minimum legal drinking age represents one approach to reducing
drinking by young adults to try and reduce the high percentage of preventable car accident deaths
from occurring. Due to the high number of instances of this occurring, the federal system reacted
and implicated the minimum legal drinking age to be raised to 21. As a result, the number of
fatalities to underage related fatal car accidents has drastically decline. These data results supported
the theories that by increasing the legal drinking age, with the updated health care policy, the
impact on the public s safety and health had greatly improved.
Supporting Literature/Data The minimum legal drinking age, prior to 1988, was different amongst
states, either 18, 19, or 20. Research has shown data, in regards to the amount of alcohol
consumption, amongst the age groups at that time. In 1975, 68% of 12th graders drank in

Why Is Eczema Important
ECZEMA AND PROBIOTICS Eczema, also known as atopic dermatitis, is a chronic allergic
disorder that mainly involves the skin (Sears 89). As reported in, The Allergy Book, of all the
allergic disorders...eczema is the most troublesome to treat (89). In addition, eczema care is much
more than skin deep; the whole body must be healthy to minimize eczema (Sears 98). Our immune
systems response to allergens is what causes millions of us to suffer from allergic disorders (Sears
3). In addition, epidemiologic data showed that atopic children have a different intestinal flora
from that of healthy ones (Ozdemir par. 4). Researchers are beginning to link the introduction of
probiotics as an effective way to treat/or prevent eczema. Per Dr. Ozdemir, children who... Show

5). Probiotics are bacteria that are native to your digestive tract, which means, they are normally
found in healthy small and large intestines and can influence the mucosal barrier (the inner lining of
the digestive tract), which in turn can affect immune system functions (EczemaFree.org par. 2).
Lack of a sufficient mucosal barrier allows food and environmental antigens to cross over into the
blood stream, activating the immune system and leading to hyperactivity, which is the hallmark of
eczema conditions (par. 2). This is an example of how usage of probiotics can improve conditions
within the intestinal tract, and in turn reduce eczema symptoms. Unaltered probiotics such as
Lactobacillus GG, with its anti inflammatory powers, may help prevent the development of
eczema and other allergic disorders (Sachs 230). The first clue that gut bacteria could play a role
in risk for developing eczema came in the discovery that breastfed babies have a reduced
incidence, prolonged onset and decreased severity to eczema

Cosmic Perspective Summary
In his article The Cosmic Perspective , Neil DeGrasse Tyson introduces us to the idea of the
cosmic perspective. This concept puts all humanity in their place, for we are not the center of
the universe. Tyson accomplishes this by stating that the issues that seem so big to us are
nothing when you see them with the cosmic perspective. He also talks about how the earth is so
small that it s like a speck of dust compared to the universe. He goes on to say that without the
cosmic perspective we wouldn t even be the people we are today! With all this talk about the
universe and how big it is, the connection to the reader gets lost. However, Tyson brings it back
down to earth by stating the following, A single breathful draws in more... Show more content on

Among all the facts that the cosmic perspective is vital to humanity there is some sentiment too.
Tyson introduces the atomic structure of everything in the universe. The basic building blocks
of life. These are carbon, oxygen, hydrogen, and nitrogen. All of these natural elements are found
in the human body as well as in the stars of the universe. We are thus a part of the stars and the
stars are a part of us. This brings up a feeling of importance to the reader. Throughout the article
readers feel the weight of the world coming in at them. In this short paragraph Tyson reminds
them that they are a part of the universe and have a place in life. One thing that is prevalent to the
reader is the idea that the cosmic perspective is more than seeing the universe. One must take
into account that applying the perspective is as important as knowing what the perspective
entails. There is a particularly powerful section of this article that states exactly how the cosmic
perspective is vital to living in today s world. Ideas that the cosmic perspective teaches how to
see the beauty of the world, be open to new things, act selflessly, and reach beyond our everyday
needs assists humanity in living the best life for themselves. Tyson invites his audience to consider
the ideas that the cosmic perspective brings. We must push forward with these newly found ideas
and create a better world for ourselves and the generations to follow.

Private Military Contractors
If someone were to ask about the United Sates military, a majority of people would be able to
describe it thoroughly; however, what most people do not know is that it is comprised of
mercenaries. Mercenaries, also known as private military contractors, are not an official part of the
United States military; Instead, they are highly skilled soldiers who work independently charging
large amounts of money to terminate enemies. The United Stateshas been hiring Blackwater, which
is a skilled mercenary group, to enter countries and eliminate enemies. The United Sates of America
needs to stop hiring private contractors because countless problems arise due to many contributing
factors.

Mercenaries need to be stopped being used because they allow governments to do whatever they
please without getting caught. Gilsinan argues, both [drones and private military companies]
should be part of the same category, because they allow national governments to get involved in
fighting without actually having citizens do it. And that creates moral hazard for policymakers,
because it lowers the barriers of entry into conflict (Gilsinan). When Private military contractors are
used they break any established laws to complete their mission. Governments use these contractors
because they realize that they can get away with breaking international laws by having the
mercenaries break them. This is atrocious because if the United States decides to keep using
contractors and these private contractors continue to break laws then conflict will appear. When
other governments begin to see hired contractors doing what they please they will begin consulting
with mercenaries as well. Borger analyzes, When the United States started to rely on private
military companies, it unleashed this new globalized industry of mercenaries. That s why we ve
seen a resurgence of them (Linehan). Mercenaries make war extremely easy because they can do
what they want. When other countries begin to see that the United States relies on mercenaries,
they will commence to hire them as

The Wizard Of Oz
Findings Paper Our research topic was on how influential the Wizard of Oz was and how its impact
changed the entertainment and dramatic arts industries. We decided to choose a topic that was
interesting and something that almost everyone would have some knowledge about. In our project
we addressed the characters, music, and the values of the film. The Wizard of Oz is one of the most
influential films in history. It was one of the first movies to be filmed in color and whole
production cost set a record at MGM studio with the movie costing 2.8 million dollars to make.
The success of this film opened so many doors for other movies. Something we also found to be
interesting was that The Wizard of Oz was the first videocassette tape released by MGM and CBS

China is a fast changing market and it has paid off for Starbucks. The middle class citizens of
mainland China consider Starbucks coffee a luxury. The customers are willing to pay the premium
price just for the customer experience. The success of this strategy is due in part to the in store
training and people development model used in China. This way, Starbucks ensures its brand
positioning is consistent with customers expectancy of having the Starbucks experience that is
provided in the United States.
Starbucks customer intimacy is the value it places on customer satisfaction. Starbucks requires that
all employees be trained for 24 hours prior to entering into full time or part time employment.

Misconception Of Happiness
Introduction
People constantly have the desire to want more and often believe that by fulfilling those desires, it
will increase their happiness. One problem is, people do not just live with simplicity in their lives,
which is a direct reflection of their environment and societal factors that influence these continuous
desires. Happiness is a very pertinent goal for people to reach. Today s society has the
misconception of happiness as being blinded by monetary and materialistic gains such as wealth,
power, social media, and success. The Mental Health Foundation s survey illustrating that 76 per
cent of respondents think society is becoming more materialistic and selfish (Buggey). Many
people contemplate on whether or not it is even possible for individuals to attain happiness,
which has driven researchers to neglect to study happiness because some believe that we would
be better off by simply accepting our current happiness. However, we believe another reason for
this neglect is the pessimistic view over whether it is even possible to achieve sustainable
increases in happiness (Sheldon, K. Lyubomirsky, S. (2006). With several different aspects of if
happiness is even achievable, there are still individuals who believe there are.
Happiness is not a constant, an individual must practice the art of finding it within themselves in
order to have more frequent increases throughout their lives and have an appreciation for the simple
things. Finding happiness results

While Presenting May Be A Literal Objectification Of Slaves
While Presenting may be a literal objectification of slaves in Walker s work, this overarching
concept can also be seen in her works Untitled and Gone. In Untitled, the young woman is
depicted as naked, a common practice from slavery. During the practice, slaves were often
forced to stand nude and be inspected by potential masters, as if part of a crude, human dog
show. The woman in this picture seems vulnerable in a similar fashion, forced to stand in an
apparently submissive state to the fully clothed men and women beside her in order to have her
work be considered at all by this high art world. Gone s brutal caricatures particularly focus on this
slave master objectification, primarily with slaves serving as objects of sexual... Show more content

As Steer phrases it, the aim [of Brecht s pieces] is to promote an attitude of regional activism, an
ability to see things could be other than they are (Steer 639).
Brecht accomplishes a desire for activism by alienating the audience from his characters, or by
trying to free socially conditioned phenomena from that stamp of familiarity which protects them
against our grasp (Brecht 192). The hero is more a creation of a social and political atmosphere
than a living breathing character, and is therefore viewed as an object, something inhuman. Walker
s caricatures follow this structure, ranging from the slave men and women in Gone and Practicing
to the young artist in Untitled: all of them are representations of greater ideas, yet are warped
enough in design or position that they are freed from a complete pathetic connection. A type of
historical fiction is formed, close enough for us to grasp and consider the themes presented, yet
distanced enough for the audience to feel a desire to change things, as according to Brecht.
Walker s art is therefore an entirely new genre with this Brechtian lens, serving as a form of epic
art rather than simply epic theatre or political art. Through the objectification and therefore
alienation of her subjects with regards to the audience, Walker appears to be inciting a drive
towards activity, be it a simple acknowledgment of her themes or the creation of a spark for
activism. Through the historically

Compare And Contrast Ammonium Nitrate And Calcium Chloride
How will the temperature of the water change in reaction to the addition of the ammonium nitrate
and the calcium chloride?
Background Information: The experiment deals with cold packs and hot packs and it demonstrates
how they work. Cold packs and hot packs are used to help heal injuries mainly. Cold packs help
heal sprained ankles, since they remove heat from the inflicted area and make the blood vessels
tighten, which lowers the inflammation and pain. Cold packs usually include water, ammonium
nitrate or some other salt and fertilizer. The water is kept separate in an inner container separate
from the ammonium nitrate until the cold pack is needed. When the cold pack is needed, the
cold pack is squeezed, which makes the inner container of water open and the ammonium nitrate
to mix. The ammonium nitrate dissolves in the water and creates the cold pack. The cold pack
is used to decrease the effect of increased blood flow to an area, while a hot pack is used to
increase blood flow to an area, such as an area with deep muscle pain. The hot pack adds heat the
affected area and makes the blood vessels dilate. Hot packs usually contain the same stuff as the
cold pack does, but instead of ammonium nitrate, they contain calcium chloride. Therefore, when a
hot pack is needed the pad is squeezed and the water and the calcium chloride mix, which creates
the hot pack.

Using Alternatives Sources Of Energy
Up until a few years ago, we used to exploit fossil fuels for almost all of our needs (heating,
transportation, etc.) without thinking if there are enough supplies or even about their negative
effects their emissions cause to the environment. According to many scientific investigations our
fossil fuel resources (oil, coaland gas) are running out, furthermore their emissions pollute the
environment and contribute to the greenhouse effect. Undoubtedly, these situations as well as the
fact that the demand for electricity is increasing more and more globally made us thinking about
using alternatives sources of energy. Many possible fuels are being tested at the moment in order to

Despite the fact that things seemed to run smoothly, in 1973 when the oil crisis began, nuclear
industry had to face environmental issues which made the construction of power stations such an
expensive deal. Nowadays, nuclear power seem to be more promising than ever due to the
increased demand of electricity. After many investigations experts have determined that there are
two ways that nuclear power can be utilized. The first way is called Nuclear Fission , this way is
mainly used in power stations, uranium and other heavy elements are used as fuels. By its
reaction heavy cores separate into medium sized cores, where energy is released. The following
figure shows how much electricity was generated in 6 countries by nuclear power in 2007.
The second way that nuclear power can utilizes is called Nuclear Fusion , this way needs more
investigation in order to be applied in power stations. Hydrogen and other light elements would be

energy is released. Nuclear Fusion s 2 most promising reactions are the DT reaction, which fuses
deuterium (heavy isotope of hydrogen) with tritium (heavier isotope of hydrogen), making Helium
(light monoatomic gas) and the DD reaction, which fuses deuterium with deuterium. Despite their

The way she is treated is denounced. Jane is not from the working class, nor is she a servant.
Being an orphan who has been given a roof from her aunt and late uncle, the little girl whom we
meet in the beginning of the novel is furious at the idea of being treated less than the others around
her.
In Bronte s writing, the message is at times, quite clear, and at other time, relatively subtle. Jane
questions the status of woman. Yet, she does so mainly through her writing. A woman, at that time,
should not be free to have opinions and to manifest her feelings. However, through her writing,
she is able to treat certain taboo subjects, at times quite openly and at other times in a subtler
way. A woman is expected to follow the path which has been carved out for her. There is no
room to be passionate and to have opinions. Bronte, however, allows Jane to do so. The
description of the weather in several instances reflects the protagonist s state of mind. The
beginning of the novel is a perfect example to illustrate the way in which the narration sets the tone
for what is to be expected by the reader:
There was no possibility of taking a walk that day. We had been wandering, indeed, in the leafless

attested by Fromm in the case of sadism and necrophilia. Throughout the film Doe is seen
exhibiting the personality traits of a sadist: he desired power and control by performing violence
on others and claimed to have enjoyed his victims suffering through his elaborate methods of
torture and murder. Since he cites the bible as his motivation to kill, it can be inferred that he
wanted to take on the role of God to punish the sinners in His place. This could be his ultimate goal
as a killer, where he is able to undergo the transformation of impotence through the experience of
omnipotence by means of murder (Fromm,

Pluto Research Paper
NASA s New Horizons spacecraft has snapped the first ever color photograph of Pluto. The
image, shown below, may be a bit blurry, but you can expect more detailed images to emerge as
the spacecraft gets closer to the lonely planet on the edge of the Solar System. New Horizons also
caught Charon, a moon, in the photograph of Pluto.
New Horizons is expected to get closer to Pluto and grab detailed images that should be able to
detect differences in the planet s surface of a few miles apart. Right now, it s still some 70 million
miles away. The spacecraft was launched on January 19, 2006 with an Earth and solar escape
trajectory going 36,000 miles an hour. It s the fastest object to ever leave our atmosphere. Along
the way to Pluto, New Horizons also got a gravity assist from Jupiter. In effect, a spacecraft will
slingshot around a planet to increase its speed. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The spacecraft has a range of instruments, boasting an ultraviolet imaging spectrometer, a long
focal length imager, and an onboard telescope called RALPH, which was used to take the photo.
The major goals of New Horizons is to make a detailed map of the surface composition of Pluto
and its largest moon, Charon. It was also get an idea of the atmosphere and geology of the cold
planet. After its flyby, the spacecraft will head on into the Kuiper Belt, a large ring of smaller
objects surrounding the Solar System. By looking at these objects, we can have greater insight into
how the Solar System

Looking at Hugh Hefner s Portrait from Various Lenses Essays
Cynthia Freeland argued that art communicates significance but there is no one precise
hypothetical approach that tells us how to best interpret a work of art. Although there are better
interpretations of a piece artwork than others, there is no one way to interpret a single piece of art.
The best interpretations understand the background of the artist while also focusing on the style
that the artist uses. The emotions and ideas that come from looking at a piece of art work can
come from the artist s perspective of that of the viewer. When understanding the expressionist
theory we can look to Freeland s definition: expression theory holds that art communicates
something in the realm of feelings and emotions (Freeland, 155). In a broader... Show more content

The different expressions all give the same underlying look of envy. The girl sitting on the
ottoman is glaring at the other girls while the two girls on the bed are engaging in conversation
while showing wariness. The woman on the floor is looking longingly at the camera as if she
wants to say something but you do not know what. Tolstoy s belief of an artist s chief job is to
express and communicate emotions to an audience (Freeland, 155) is conveyed when you initially
look at the Hugh Hefner portrait. Every viewer has their own interpretation, but most would argue
that when you look at this portrait you are able to see different expressions on the five characters
faces impacting the viewer with the same experience that Shay got when photographing this image.
Tolstoy and Freud both understand that art can communicate emotions and feelings, while Tolstoy
believes that art communicates conscious emotions and feelings, Freud believes that art
communicates unconscious emotions and feelings.
Interpretations are very diverse and come from all different areas and when we view Hugh
Hefner, photographed by Art Shay, through Freud s perspective, we are filled with emotions that
are taken from past experiences. Freud believed that when we look at a portrait or another art form,
it ignites unconscious feelings ones the artist [or the viewer] might not even admit to having
(Freeland, 157). When looking at Hugh Hefner in Freud s lenses, the different viewers

The Protocol Of Operations Of Bank Solutions Essay
Abstract
After the assessment and audit carried out on the protocol of operations of Bank Solutions, we
identified uncontrolled access to event logs as one of the biggest security threat factor the
institution is currently faced with. It goes without saying that as a result of this phenomenon, the
institution s information is at a great risk of alteration and even access by external entities. As a
result, consumer protection is far from being guaranteed, as well as privacy policy being highly
compromised. Some of the power users have access to event logs whereby they have administrative
privileges of making changes to the captured information, majorly transactions information, putting
into consideration that the power users are in a position to also change their own event logs. There
is no guarantee of the trustworthiness and credibility of the power users, hence a precautionary
measure has to be taken in order to cover this gap and enhance information security and privacy
policy for the consumers.
For this particular security gap, logical access control and administrative privilege management
needs to be implemented in order to deal with this uncertainty of information security. Under the
adaptation of this technology, power users will be well monitored in all the activities they carry out
in the item processing facilities, enhancing a sense of accountability and transparency in handling
of the event logs. This guarantees information security, correct and accurate record of

Mr. DeCaprio

Rutherford Early College High School
286 ICC Loop Road
Spindale, NC 28160

Dear Mr. DeCaprio:

As you know, I have chosen speech language pathology
as the subject of my graduation project. My interest in the complexity of speech and language as
well as the importance of communication in everyday human life led me to choose this topic.
Language development is an important issue in the field of speech language pathology. As part of
my project, I wrote a research paper on the effects of environmental factors on language
development. Through my research, I discovered that environmental factors such as parenting style,
parents level of education, and socioeconomic status

Essay on A Fight Aganist Public Schools Strict Dress Codes
The belief that public schools should enforce strict dress codes has been the topic of many
controversial and heated debates throughout history. Although it is uncommon for public schools to
require uniforms, every school has some type of dress code. Elizabeth Forward High School in
Elizabeth, Pennsylvania, is no different than the rest of the nation. When caught violating the dress
code, some teachers will choose to ignore it, whereas others will send the student to the high school
office. If sent to the office, students are penalized with a day of in school suspension instead of
being allowed to call for a change of clothes. At first glance, the prohibition of tank tops, jeans with
holes above the knee, and shorts and skirts shorter than... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another major problem is the fact that tank tops are even banned in physical education classes.
Students are allowed to wear sweat pants in the winter months to keep themselves warm, but get
points deducted if they decide to wear a tank top on a day that the class spends forty minutes on the
football field in the smoldering summer sun. I think that if the school were to become more lenient
on the tank top rule, students will feel more comfortable in the school during the warmer months,
and they will spend less time complaining about the heat, allowing more ability to focus on
schoolwork. In 2009, Elizabeth Forward banned students from wearing jeans with holes in them.
When the new rule was put into affect, students started a chain text message suggesting that
everyone wear jeans with holes in them the next day. When the teachers and administration learned
about the plan, they threatened the students with in school suspension each day they wore torn up
jeans; this did not stop the students. The students believed that if enough of their peers
participated, they could not be given in school suspension simply because they could not fit
everyone in the in school suspension room. However, when nearly two hundred students showed
up to school in ripped up jeans, the faculty was forced to crack down and send anybody with even
the slightest fraying to the office. Because there were so many rule breakers, the administration
moved everybody out of the in school

Even though two of the writers of Legalism were students of Xinzu, a philosopher of Confucianism, there are more of differences than similarities between the two. Because of this, legalism, which preceded the concept of Confucianism, had a lot of reasons why Confucianism was considered wrong. While towards the fall of the Qin Dynasty, Confucian beliefs started to revamp and become more widely accepted and thus they were blended together to some extent, this was not the case beforehand, in fact it could be argued that blending the two together seemed almost impossible. Confucianism stressed the ideas of the knowledge, humaneness, and filial piety while legalism stressed power, rewards and punishments, and agricultural wealth. Thus from a legalist standpoint, Confucianism was considered wrong because it placed value on virtues instead of the laws, focusing on education to prosper growth and moral character instead of simply obeying societal laws and valuing agricultural wealth rather than humaneness Thus differences far exceed similarities between these two ancient beliefs. However, both have made everlasting marks on Chinese culture and tradition that to this day still exists. Here is my suggestion for a more succinct and focused intro, deleting what you have above: The two Chinese philosophies of Legalism and Confucianism could not be more opposite. • 6. Mandatory Immunization Of Children For School Entry On June 30, 2015, California governor Jerry Brown signed the new version of Senate Bill 277, which eliminated California s personal belief exemption. These laws create a very low bar for parents to obtain an exemption. Often they simply have to check a box stating they don t want to vaccinate their children, and that is sufficient. States with personal belief exemptions have 2.5 times the vaccinerefusal rate as states with religious exemptions only. Essentially, the easier it is to obtain a vaccine exemption, the lower the vaccinationrate. Personal belief exemption rates have gone up dramatically since 1994. During a survey done by Alexander Capron for his medical journal, Personal Beliefs Exemption from Mandatory Immunization of Children for School Entry , in 1994, schools on average had 0.6% of kindergarten students claiming personal belief exemptions; by 2009, the number was 2.3%. By the 2013 2014 school year, schools, on average, had 3.15% of kindergarten students claiming personal belief exemptions. While these percentages may seem low, they are not evenly distributed: Some communities have much higher rates, and a recent research paper demonstrated that those communities were most vulnerable to outbreaks. Like all states, California requires that children attending all school levels must be immunized. Two months later, on August 4th, 1914 Great Britain declared war. Ireland, at this time, was a part of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, and as a result, they had become a part of the war as well. Before the war broke out, there were already fifty eight thousand Irishmen enlisted in the British Army or Navy. During the duration of the war, another one hundred thirty Irishmen were recruited as volunteers. These Irishmen joined the armed forces for several different reasons. Some, because of political reasons, others joined to send money to loved ones back home, and some were simply after the adventure that war brought along with it. Tom Barry, who enlisted in the British military in June 1915, said he joined to see what war was like, to get a gun, to see new countries and to feel like a grown man. This 1945 book was based on the Russian revolution and used animals revolting against their owner to describe events that took place in the real life rebellion. Napoleon has proven himself a similar tyrant to Jones by acting controlling toward the animals, living the same lifestyle, and breaking his agreements. When Napoleon took leadership during the revolt against Farmer Jones, the power went straight to his head, and that started reflecting how he treated the animals after they took over the farm. Napoleon s actions were like a mirror; it reflected how Jones treated the animals before. It even came to the extent of taking away a tradition that animals keep dear to their heart because it shows honor and dignity. According to page 38 of Animal Farm, By George Orwell , ...by a special decree of Comrade Napoleon, Beast of England has been abolished. From now onwards it was forbidden to sing it. For Napoleon to gain more power he needed to take away something that the animals honor to show he is the leader now, but if that song were never stated, most of the animals would not have been motivated to help revolt against Farmer Jones. • 15. The Most Traditional Side of Firearm Usage in America For generations and generations guns have been the icon of america. Guns can protect you from criminals and dangerous situations. They surround us everyday, whether it be law enforcement personnel, in movies, or advertisements. Guns can not only be used to protect the individual but also the population from a tyrannical government, which is exactly why the founding fathers were so intent on making guns the forefront of what america is all about. The down side to having guns so relevant in society is the fact that often it can fall into the wrong hands. The vast majority of american households have at least one fire arm in the house. This is mostly because there is more of a comfort that people feel when they believe they could fend of a possible intruder or attacker. Those that do not have firearms trust that the police will take care of whatever situation might present itself. The average response time for the police is on average roughly 10 15 minutes. The average response time for a .357 magnum is 1300 feet per second. So using a .357 to shoot a target standing 1ft away is 900 times faster than waiting 15 minutes for a police officer. • 18. Drinking Age Persuasive Essay When picturing college, people should think about huge classrooms, hard professors, and a better learning experience than they have ever received before. In reality, two things come to everyone s mind before anything else: partying every night and binge drinking. The United States has some of the highest rates of underage drinking and hospitalizations due to alcohol poisoning. In Barrett Seaman s article, How Bingeing Became the New College Sport, Seaman argues that continually adding more restrictions to the drinking law could be making the issue worse or maybe causing the entire problem. By focusing on college binge drinking, Seaman convinces his readers that instead of twenty one, the US should lower the drinking age to promote appropriate drinking habits. The drinking age set at eighteen was not originally an issue. In the late 60s, the voting age was changed to eighteen; privacy laws were enacted; and the drinking age, depending on each states decision, was lowered to eighteen as the new age that legally defined adulthood (Seaman 1 2). Then in 1984, Congress was influenced by Mothers Against Drunk Driving to pass a law that combined compliance of the states with federal aid highway funds in exchange for the members support; forcing the states to raise the drinking age to twenty one. There is no doubt that the law, which achieved full 50 state compliance in 1988, saved lives, but it had the unintended consequence of creating a covert culture around alcohol as the ... In addition, eczema care is much more than skin deep; the whole body must be healthy to minimize eczema (Sears 98). Our immune systems response to allergens is what causes millions of us to suffer from allergic disorders (Sears 3). In addition, epidemiologic data showed that atopic children have a different intestinal flora from that of healthy ones (Ozdemir par. 4). Researchers are beginning to link the introduction of probiotics as an effective way to treat/or prevent eczema. Per Dr. Ozdemir, children who... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 5). Probiotics are bacteria that are native to your digestive tract, which means, they are normally found in healthy small and large intestines and can influence the mucosal barrier (the inner lining of the digestive tract), which in turn can affect immune system functions (EczemaFree.org par. 2). Lack of a sufficient mucosal barrier allows food and environmental antigens to cross over into the blood stream, activating the immune system and leading to hyperactivity, which is the hallmark of eczema conditions (par. 2). This is an example of how usage of probiotics can improve conditions within the intestinal tract, and in turn reduce eczema symptoms. Unaltered probiotics such as Lactobacillus GG, with its anti inflammatory powers, may help prevent the development of eczema and other allergic disorders (Sachs 230). The first clue that gut bacteria could play a role in risk for developing eczema came in the discovery that breastfed babies have a reduced incidence, prolonged onset and decreased severity to eczema ... • 23. Cosmic Perspective Summary In his article The Cosmic Perspective , Neil DeGrasse Tyson introduces us to the idea of the cosmic perspective. This concept puts all humanity in their place, for we are not the center of the universe. Tyson accomplishes this by stating that the issues that seem so big to us are nothing when you see them with the cosmic perspective. He also talks about how the earth is so small that it s like a speck of dust compared to the universe. He goes on to say that without the cosmic perspective we wouldn t even be the people we are today! With all this talk about the universe and how big it is, the connection to the reader gets lost. Mercenaries need to be stopped being used because they allow governments to do whatever they please without getting caught. Gilsinan argues, both [drones and private military companies] should be part of the same category, because they allow national governments to get involved in fighting without actually having citizens do it. And that creates moral hazard for policymakers, because it lowers the barriers of entry into conflict (Gilsinan). When Private military contractors are used they break any established laws to complete their mission. Governments use these contractors because they realize that they can get away with breaking international laws by having the mercenaries break them. This is atrocious because if the United States decides to keep using contractors and these private contractors continue to break laws then conflict will appear. When other governments begin to see hired contractors doing what they please they will begin consulting with mercenaries as well. The woman in this picture seems vulnerable in a similar fashion, forced to stand in an apparently submissive state to the fully clothed men and women beside her in order to have her work be considered at all by this high art world. As Steer phrases it, the aim [of Brecht s pieces] is to promote an attitude of regional activism, an ability to see things could be other than they are (Steer 639). Brecht accomplishes a desire for activism by alienating the audience from his characters, or by trying to free socially conditioned phenomena from that stamp of familiarity which protects them against our grasp (Brecht 192). The hero is more a creation of a social and political atmosphere than a living breathing character, and is therefore viewed as an object, something inhuman. Walker s caricatures follow this structure, ranging from the slave men and women in Gone and Practicing to the young artist in Untitled: all of them are representations of greater ideas, yet are warped enough in design or position that they are freed from a complete pathetic connection. A type of historical fiction is formed, close enough for us to grasp and consider the themes presented, yet distanced enough for the audience to feel a desire to change things, as according to Brecht. Walker s art is therefore an entirely new genre with this Brechtian lens, serving as a form of epic art rather than simply epic theatre or political art. Through the objectification and therefore alienation of her subjects with regards to the audience, Walker appears to be inciting a drive towards activity, be it a simple acknowledgment of her themes or the creation of a spark for activism. • 35. Compare And Contrast Ammonium Nitrate And Calcium Chloride How will the temperature of the water change in reaction to the addition of the ammonium nitrate and the calcium chloride? Background Information: The experiment deals with cold packs and hot packs and it demonstrates how they work. Cold packs and hot packs are used to help heal injuries mainly. Cold packs help heal sprained ankles, since they remove heat from the inflicted area and make the blood vessels tighten, which lowers the inflammation and pain. Cold packs usually include water, ammonium nitrate or some other salt and fertilizer. The water is kept separate in an inner container separate from the ammonium nitrate until the cold pack is needed. When the cold pack is needed, the cold pack is squeezed, which makes the inner container of water open and the ammonium nitrate to mix. The ammonium nitrate dissolves in the water and creates the cold pack. The cold pack is used to decrease the effect of increased blood flow to an area, while a hot pack is used to increase blood flow to an area, such as an area with deep muscle pain. The hot pack adds heat the affected area and makes the blood vessels dilate. Hot packs usually contain the same stuff as the cold pack does, but instead of ammonium nitrate, they contain calcium chloride. Therefore, when a hot pack is needed the pad is squeezed and the water and the calcium chloride mix, which creates the hot pack. In Bronte s writing, the message is at times, quite clear, and at other time, relatively subtle. Jane questions the status of woman. Yet, she does so mainly through her writing. A woman, at that time, should not be free to have opinions and to manifest her feelings. The best interpretations understand the background of the artist while also focusing on the style that the artist uses. The emotions and ideas that come from looking at a piece of art work can come from the artist s perspective of that of the viewer. When understanding the expressionist theory we can look to Freeland s definition: expression theory holds that art communicates something in the realm of feelings and emotions (Freeland, 155). In a broader... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The different expressions all give the same underlying look of envy. The girl sitting on the ottoman is glaring at the other girls while the two girls on the bed are engaging in conversation while showing wariness. The woman on the floor is looking longingly at the camera as if she wants to say something but you do not know what. Tolstoy s belief of an artist s chief job is to express and communicate emotions to an audience (Freeland, 155) is conveyed when you initially look at the Hugh Hefner portrait. Every viewer has their own interpretation, but most would argue that when you look at this portrait you are able to see different expressions on the five characters faces impacting the viewer with the same experience that Shay got when photographing this image. Tolstoy and Freud both understand that art can communicate emotions and feelings, while Tolstoy believes that art communicates conscious emotions and feelings, Freud believes that art communicates unconscious emotions and feelings. Interpretations are very diverse and come from all different areas and when we view Hugh Hefner, photographed by Art Shay, through Freud s perspective, we are filled with emotions that are taken from past experiences. Freud believed that when we look at a portrait or another art form, it ignites unconscious feelings ones the artist [or the viewer] might not even admit to having (Freeland, 157). When looking at Hugh Hefner in Freud s lenses, the different viewers ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. The Protocol Of Operations Of Bank Solutions Essay Abstract After the assessment and audit carried out on the protocol of operations of Bank Solutions, we identified uncontrolled access to event logs as one of the biggest security threat factor the institution is currently faced with. It goes without saying that as a result of this phenomenon, the institution s information is at a great risk of alteration and even access by external entities. As a result, consumer protection is far from being guaranteed, as well as privacy policy being highly compromised. Some of the power users have access to event logs whereby they have administrative privileges of making changes to the captured information, majorly transactions information, putting into consideration that the power users are in a position to also change their own event logs. There is no guarantee of the trustworthiness and credibility of the power users, hence a precautionary measure has to be taken in order to cover this gap and enhance information security and privacy policy for the consumers. For this particular security gap, logical access control and administrative privilege management needs to be implemented in order to deal with this uncertainty of information security. Under the adaptation of this technology, power users will be well monitored in all the activities they carry out in the item processing facilities, enhancing a sense of accountability and transparency in handling of the event logs. • 44. Essay on A Fight Aganist Public Schools Strict Dress Codes The belief that public schools should enforce strict dress codes has been the topic of many controversial and heated debates throughout history. Although it is uncommon for public schools to require uniforms, every school has some type of dress code. Elizabeth Forward High School in Elizabeth, Pennsylvania, is no different than the rest of the nation. When caught violating the dress code, some teachers will choose to ignore it, whereas others will send the student to the high school office. If sent to the office, students are penalized with a day of in school suspension instead of being allowed to call for a change of clothes. At first glance, the prohibition of tank tops, jeans with holes above the knee, and shorts and skirts shorter than... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another major problem is the fact that tank tops are even banned in physical education classes. Students are allowed to wear sweat pants in the winter months to keep themselves warm, but get points deducted if they decide to wear a tank top on a day that the class spends forty minutes on the football field in the smoldering summer sun. I think that if the school were to become more lenient on the tank top rule, students will feel more comfortable in the school during the warmer months, and they will spend less time complaining about the heat, allowing more ability to focus on schoolwork. In 2009, Elizabeth Forward banned students from wearing jeans with holes in them. When the new rule was put into affect, students started a chain text message suggesting that everyone wear jeans with holes in them the next day. When the teachers and administration learned about the plan, they threatened the students with in school suspension each day they wore torn up jeans; this did not stop the students. The students believed that if enough of their peers participated, they could not be given in school suspension simply because they could not fit everyone in the in school suspension room. However, when nearly two hundred students showed up to school in ripped up jeans, the faculty was forced to crack down and send anybody with even the slightest fraying to the office. Because there were so many rule breakers, the administration moved everybody out of the in school ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
