Students may not be prepared for distance learning if they lack intrinsic motivation, engagement with others, strong study skills, or time management. An accurate self-assessment of one's readiness can help students determine if they are prepared for distance learning challenges and focus on skills that need improvement. The SORT tool developed by the University System of Georgia quizzes students on six topics related to online learning success, such as technology experience, access to tools, study habits, lifestyle, goals, and learning preference.
