The Crucible Allegory Analysis
Rough Draft The Crucible is similar to the Red Scare, but is The Crucible an allegory for the Red
Scare? Here is why I think The Crucible is an allegory for the Red Scare. The Crucible by Arthur
Miller is an allegory for the Red Scare on the McCarthy era because in The Crucible multiple people
were incorrectly blamed for being witches just like in the Red Scare where people were incorrectly
blamed for being communists, in both The Crucible and the Red Scare approximately everyone
believed the outrageous accusations to avoid being killed, The Crucible is an allegory is an allegory
for a Red Scare because is exposed another example of a time period in which fake accusations led to
forced confessions. In The Crucible multiple people were incorrectly blamed for being witches just
like in the Red Scare where people were incorrectly blamed for being communists. In both The
Crucible and the Red Scare people were being falsely blamed for things that were not true. In The
Crucible people were being incorrectly accused of being witches and communicating to the devil. You
most certainly do, and you will free her from it now! When do you compact with the devil? This quote
from The Crucible is basically saying that Hale was accusing Tituba of being a witch and speaking to
the devil. In both The Crucible and the Red Scare there were people being accused of something that
they were not. I I have no witness and cannot prove it except my word be taken. But I know the

Brief Summary Of Martin Luther King s Speech
The highlight of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day was the highly anticipated convocation featuring Dr.
Cornel West as the keynote speaker. All freshmen were forced to go to this event, and it is safe to say
most were more than reluctant to attend. The first half of the convocation went pretty close to how I
was expecting. President Heckler gave a speech which I, personally, found extremely scripted and
boring causing my mind to wander elsewhere. After Heckler finished, eventually it was time for
Cornel West to speak, which was easily the most entertaining part of the event. West s speech began a
little shaky, it felt to me as if he had no idea what he was going to say so he made random comments
on the events that had taken place before he began

Applying the Concept of Bipower to China s One Child Policy
Michel Foucault was a French philosopher and one of the most influential social theorists of the
second half of the twentieth century. He was born on the 15th of October 1936 and passed away on the
25th June 1984. His theories addressed the relationship between power and knowledge, and how they
are used as a form of social control. His analysis breaks the concept of power apart, and his theory
explains differences in various modes of power. In his study the History of Sexuality, he explores in
the firth volume called Right of Death and Power over Life the triangle of power: (I) sovereign power;
(II) disciplinary power; and (III) biopower. In this essay I will describe the relationship between each
power and apply the concept of biopower to China s one child Policy.
First what is Biopower? Well according to Foucault, biopower is a technology of power, which is a
way of managing and controlling entire populations. Biopower led to the emergence of the modern
nation state and capitalism. Foucault describes it as an explosion of numerous and diverse techniques
for achieving the subjugations of bodies and the control of populations (Foucault 140). The primary
and most important goal of biopower is life. The government goal is to secure and improve people s
lives. Power is exercised exclusively over life, and is exercised either to foster life or to disallow it.
Biopower according to Foucault is a power that exerts a positive influence on life, that endeavours to

Urvashi Butaliaia After Partition
Recent feminist historiography by scholars like Urvashi Butalia has demonstrated that amid Partition,
abducting women from the other group turned into a typical approach to shame the
Muslim/Hindu/Sikh other; the apportionment of ladies from the other group was an approach to
influence the collective honor, religious sentiment and the physical propagation of that group. This
was the condition of the state after Partition. Nationalist discourse not just developed women as agents
of ethnic community and honor; they additionally just valorised the Hindu/Sikh woman who, under
danger of assault or kidnapping, conferred suicide and in this way shielded her honor. As obvious in
Chand s remark, it was the subjectivity of women who submitted suicide

Sarbanes Oxley Act of 2002
Karla Azcue
ACC 120 09
Mr. Donald Senior
The Sarbanes Oxley Act of 2002 is one of the most important legislations passed in the 21st century
effecting financial practice and corporate governance. This act was passed on July 30, 2002 thanks to
Representative Michael Oxley a republican from Ohio and Senator Paul Sarbanes a democrat from
Maryland. They both passed two different bills that pertain to the same problem which had to do with
corporation s auditing accountability and financial fraud problems within corporations. One was bill
(S. 2673) brought by Senator Sarbanes and the other bill (H. R. 3763) brought by Representative

Crafty Research Paper
This is the story of a twelve year old girl named Craftmatsu Matsuno or Crafty for short. She loved
watching the birds fly across the sky. She loved floating peacefully down the river on her homemade
raft. But most of all, she loved eating sweets with her parents and her sextuplets older brothers. Crafty
was usually happy and peaceful. But even so, she sometimes felt lonely. The Gods of the Galaxy took
pity on Crafty. They each created three beings and confined them within star candies. The star candies
were made from each god s favorite constellations and were tossed down into Crafty s world. The
Gods of the Galaxy believed each being would teach something to Crafty. It was up to Crafty to find
them. It was a brand new day and Crafty was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Outsourcing Of The National Labor Committee Thinks Otherwise
American companies and their products, have increasingly been pursed to be manufactured abroad.
This however is one of the biggest discrepancies we confront within our economy. Although many
businesses argue this is beneficial in order for them to turn a higher profit and be successful, the
National Labor Committee thinks otherwise. Outsourcing has become one of the leading factors in
product recalls, exploitation of workers, and a major contributor to the unemployment statistics in the
US. Although outsourcing is a contributor to mass production and a products supply and demand
growth, it has also been known for some of the largest product recalls. In the largest product recall in
China in 2008, the baby formula of Sanlu (the largest company in the industry by volume was found
to contain melamine originated from contaminated milk supply outsourced to local farmers. (Lu, Ng,
Tao, 2012, p. 2). Lu, Ng, Tao simplify the term outsourcing by expressing how Outsourcing involves
contracting with external suppliers for the delivery of parts and components with pre specified quality
levels. (Lu, Ng, Tao, 2012, p. 2). This is a clear indication that product quality is never fully tested
when outsourcing. Quality controllers are given a general guideline to aby with, and once met the
product may be produced. As a consumer there is nothing more important than a products quality and
reputation. It would be ethically unfair to a consumer to save their hard earned money in

The Circular Plot In John Steinbeck s Of Mice And Men
The Circular Plot in Of Mice and Men
The author, John Steinbeck, utilizes a circular plot structure in his novel, Of Mice and Men, to show
how prejudice and the impossibility of wishful desires will always be prevalent in society. He
integrates multiple examples through the characters of this story; each individual representing a role in
society. As Lennie and George travel from ranch to ranch, their dreams are challenged and Lennie is
one of many who faces discrimination.
To commence, repetition is used to introduce how Lennie has always been discriminated against due
to his mental disability. For example, as they arrived on the new ranch, Lennie claims George said he
was his cousin to the boss they had met. Conversely, George retorts that what he said was a lie,
declaring that if he was a relative of [Lennie], [he d] shoot [himself] (Steinbeck 24). This illustrates
how Lennie is often ridiculed for his condition, George concealing it to avoid losing their opportunity
of receiving the Job on the ranch. This moment is one of many situations George has mistreated
Lennie to some extent. Further evidence is when George explains to Slim what had discouraged him
from mocking Lennie. He confesses to Slim that he played jokes on Lennie because it made him
appear smart alongside of him, only stopping when he orders Lennie to jump in the lake. Lennie
couldn t swim a stroke and he was so nice to [George] for [pulling] him out of the water in time to
save his life (Steinbeck

Abstract:
With the advent of modern technology, the way our culture consumes music has changes dramatically
in the last ten years. With technology developing as rapidly as it is; music piracy has been prosperous
while traditional music sales have declined. This essay explores how cloud based music services have
affected music consumption and piracy.
Key Terms:
Music Piracy illegal downloading or sharing of copyrighted music without purchasing.

Over the past decade, cloud streaming has made its way into consumer s lives. These cloud services
allow users to access music from a central database via a website. Users can access this music for free.
But only as long as they are connected to the internet. Consumers may also choose to purchase a
subscription to these sites which eliminates advertisements and allows unlimited listening online or
off. Cloud streaming services have made a large impact on the music industry. It has made such a
sizeable impact that Billboard has created a chart for streamed music.
Cloud streaming services provide access through subscriptions which are often paid. Meanwhile
piracy offers users free and unlimited access to all music without any limitations. Almost all
consumers of pirated music claim that the practice of piracy does not hurt the music industry at all.
The book Moser on Music Copyright (2006) argues that piracy does in fact hurt the music industry by
examining a study produces by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The RIAA
estimates that piracy costs the music industry $300,000,000 in the United States alone. While the
United States loss may seem large, the Global loss amounts to roughly $5,000,000,000. In 2004 alone,
roughly 34%, of all CD sales, were pirated copies (p. 83). Consumers feel okay with justifying piracy
because of the way the music industry appears to be thriving. The music industry appears to be
thriving because of

employees without having to purchase the physical lines. DID calls can reach the intended person
quickly with no additional manual routing or need for an operator.
Because we are in multiple locations and the need to track employee hours we have implemented an
IVR (Interactive Voice Response) system for time and attendance. Interactive Voice Response is a
technology that automates interaction with telephone callers. Our organization has digital T1 lines.
These lines are connected on one side to the IVR platform and, on the other, to call switching
equipment. Our have IVR Applications (programs that control and respond to calls on the IVR
platform) prompt callers and gather input. These applications call on existing databases and
application servers to retrieve records and information required during the length of a call. The IVR
scripts are designed using Visual IVR Script designer. Visual IVR allows fast and easy design of the
IVR system. Visual IVR Script Designer is easy to learn, and allows a GUI for the entire IVR
development process. Event Handlers link the modules to one another depending on the tone keys the
caller pressed.

Theme Of The Blind Man
The theme is the man finding his inner self through the blind man. For example; the blind man and the
Narrator were going to draw a Cathedral together, and the blind man asks the man to close his eyes,
and then the blind man put his hand on top of his hand and began to draw. It was not like nothing else
in his life and he enjoyed the experience and that he could relate to the blind man (Craver, 1981, p. 32)
The plot begins when a blind man comes to visit his wife they had not seen each other in a very long
time. His wife used to work for the blind man, reading stuff and case reports to him and organizing his
little office in a county social service department. They kept in touch by mailing each other tapes, they

He was sarcastic by asking his wife, Maybe I can take him bowling, she didn t appreciate his

the story in how the blind man and his wife called Beulah, met after my wife stop working for the
blind man. Beulah wanted a small wedding, it was just the two of them and the minister. But Beulah
had cancer and her health had decline and she died in Seattle, the blind man sat and held on to her
hand. The blind man and his wife were inseparable, they lived and worked together for eight years.
The Narrator thought about Robert not knowing what his wife looked like. The narrator felt sorry for
the blind man for a bit, and found himself thinking what a pitiful life for this woman. For example; the
wife would never know how she looked through her love one s eyes, and never receive a compliment
form her husband, and never read the expressions on her face (Craver, 198 p.32).
The setting takes place in 1981 in New York, a two story house where this took place. The house had a
porch as they walked into the house where the living room was, narrator wife was guiding him by the
arm. The wife sat the blind man on the sofa, that narrator bought two weeks ago and wanted to

Romanticism In Fredrick Douglass
Critics struggle to fit Douglass s narrative into a literary genre, some believe it fits within the realm of
Romanticism while others argue his narrative belongs under Realism. In nineteen century America,
the African American voice was missing from literature. Slave narratives were not taken seriously and
most slaves were not taught how to read or write. Douglass s was a self taught slave his narrative was
a game changer Douglass was considered an intellectual and respected by most as a reputable author.
Douglass s narrative is difficult to place within genre because it has aspects of both realism and
romanticism. It is realistic to have a narrative explaining the horrors of slavery: some of the horrors so
terrible it is hard for someone ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This means, that Douglass s work does not need to have actually happened to be considered a realistic
narrative, it just needs to seem like it could have happened and is a normal occurrence for slaves. After
considering this, there are reasons that this narrative became so popular. Douglass s narrative does not
portray an everyday occurrence of American slavery it is about one man who, with luck on his side,
made it to freedom. Every slave did suffer, slaves were beaten, raped, whipped, and worked to death
this narrative does catch the sorrow of slave life but it goes out of the ordinary. The famous line You
have seen how a man was made a slave; you shall see how a slave was made a man. (Douglass, 73) is
a chasm used to exemplify this. Overcoming oppression in the scene where Douglass takes on Mr.
Covey the slave breaker (Douglass, 66) would not be a normal occurrence, Douglass triumphs and
becomes the embodiment of a romantic hero. To overcome Covey, Douglas creates a need to invent a
self outside of the active oppression around him. (Wessel). Instead of being realistic, this narrative is
an example of propaganda, Douglass romanticises the fight to get his readers attention, to give slaves
hope, and to grasp Northerners following in joining the abolitionists.
While the reality of Douglass s experiences is anything but a

A Literary Analysis Of Esperanza Rising By Pam Muñoz Ryan
Literary Analysis of Esperanza Rising To foreshadow events in books or to tell the meaning of a story,
authors often use symbolism. Symbolism uses people, places, or things that have their own meaning,
to express something different. The author of Esperanza Rising, Pam Muñoz Ryan, uses a certain fruit
or vegetable to symbolize events of emotions that occur in the chapter. Three chapters in Esperanza
Rising that represent an important part of the book are Los Higos, Las Cebollas, and Los Aquacates.
In Esperanza Rising, figs, onions, and avocados symbolize a new beginning, the acceptance of starting
anew, and the rewards followed after hardship. Los Higos, or figs, represent a new beginning, because
of Esperanza s journey through the fig orchard. Mama and Esperanza execute their plan, in which they
leave under the cover of darkness for California. During their trip, they walk through the fig orchard
separating El Rancho de las Roses and Señor Rodriquez s ranch. When Esperanza turned around at the
end of the fig orchard, She could see nothing behind her but a trail of splattered figs she had
resentfully smashed beneath her feet. (p.57) The smashed figs represent her old life disappearing,
therefore leading Esperanza to start over with a new beginning. Her walking through the fig orchard

2.1 Industry Standards and Compatibility
NFC technology is described by NFCIP 1 (Near Field Communication Interface and Protocol 1), is
standardized in ISO 18092, ECMA 340 as well as in ETSI TS 102 190, while reader/writer mode must
support the RF requirements for ISO/IEC 14443A, ISO/IEC 14443 B and FeliCa. These standards
specify the transport protocol, transfer speeds, bit encoding schemes, the frame architecture, and the
modulation. Furthermore, the active and passive NFC modes are described and the conditions that are
required to prevent collisions during initialization (ECMA International, 2004). Today s NFC devices
allows for selecting one of three operating modes such as: * NFC data transfer (NFCIP 1) * Vicinity
coupling device (VCD), defined in ISO 15693 * Proximity coupling device (PCD), defined in ISO
14443
All NFC devices have to provide these three functions in order to be compatible with the main
international standards to connect with the millions of contactless smartcards and scanners worldwide.
2.2 Types of Communication Modes:
NFC can operate in two different modes; it is an active and passive. An active device generates its
own radio frequency (RF) field, where as a device in passive mode has to use inductive coupling to
transmit data. Mobile phone such as battery powered devices act as in passive mode. In contrast to the
active

Symptoms And Treatment Of Ptsd Veterans
It is evident that reforms are necessary within the VA system and society in regards to PTSD and
veterans. How can the American veterans be better taken care of? I will focus on the following four
specific issues that are in need of reform,
1. How can wait times be decreased for veterans seeking mental health treatment?
2. How can the stigma attached to PTSD in veterans be eliminated?
3. How can veterans receive immediate assistance in times of crisis?
4. How can we ensure that diagnosed PTSD veterans will continue treatment after receiving full
monetary compensation?
Focusing on these research questions, I propose to conduct research on decreasing wait times for
PTSD related appointments, reducing, or eliminating, the stigma attached to PTSD in veterans,
providing a way for veterans to receive immediate PTSD crisis help, and a way to ensure that veterans
diagnosed with PTSD continue treatment.
Veterans often experience long wait times to schedule an appointment for PTSD. Through additional
research I have found that according to a study in 2003 by the American Legion, of approximately
300,000 veterans waiting for health care, over half of them had been waiting over eight months for an
appointment (American Legion, 2013). I further researched how many VA facilities in the United
States offer specialized treatment for PTSD. In all 50 states, and Washington, DC, there are a total of
139 facilities (US Department of Veterans Affairs, 2015). I propose to conduct a telephone

Beloved Candy Crush Saga Mobile Game Essay
Gemix Slot Machines
While many people commonly think that Gemix is a slot machine game, it s best not to think of it as
such. Gemix Slot Machines is unique for it mixes into the arcade game category while many still
consider it a slots type of game. With this, it seems to be a popular arcade/slot machine hybrid game
due to its addictive gameplay, attractive interface, and of course, its casino like energy and concept.
We can say that it s reminiscent of the beloved Candy Crush Saga mobile game because of Gemix s
matching gems mechanic and its associated features.
Before we get into how Gemix is played, let s first discuss how the game looks when you start to play
it. Play N Go makes efforts to make sure their games look and play in a similar fashion compared to
their other well known mobile games, and while there s not too much to be in awe about in terms of
looks for Gemix, it s cleaner than most related games. Gemix does just have gems on the screen and
nothing else that special, but it looks pretty sufficient for its game category so you won t be
disappointed.
When you first play the game, Gemix looks like any other slot machine game in the market with its
seven reels, but these reels don t function like you think they would. As you play the game on a 7x7
grid, the grid shuffles when you press the start button, just like on a slot machine. When you make a
combination of five or more of the same neighboring symbols, these symbols will then disappear

Thin Client Computer Lab Project
Introduction Computers are an integral part of 21st century life, and as such technology education is
recognized as part of the Illinois Learning Standards (ISBE, 2008). A computer lab is an efficient way
to deliver access to computers and the Internet to students. Traditional labs, like the one at Dvorak
Technology Academy, are populated with complete, standalone computer systems. In network terms
these are fat clients , because each workstation is a complete system, with its own memory and disk
space and performing most if not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A thin client lab will allow Dvorak to extend its financial resources by saving on new computer
resources and extending the life of existing assets. In addition, computer lab fat clients require
substantial maintenance to keep the systems in working order. While CPS s computer support systems
help with this task through programs like Deep Freeze, routine hardware maintenance as well as
software installs and updates not covered by CPS can be a significant drain on technology coordinator
resources. A thin client architecture can reduce the workload of the technology coordinators by
centralizing management and reducing the kinds of workstation maintenance that needs to be done.
Finally, thin client networks are very scaleable. If, in the future, web based applications or
productivity applications require more processing power than is currently available in the lab,
additional servers can be added to the system to handle the added load instead of upgrading all of the
workstations. As classroom desktop computers are upgraded, the older classroom machines can be
used as additional workstations in the lab, or replace failing lab systems, or deployed in a new lab.
Project description The Thin Client Computer Lab Project creates a computer laboratory built around

Summary Of Life In The Arctic National Wildlife By Jimmy...
The Arctic National Wildlife is a beautiful forest with various wildlives. Jimmy Carter describes his
time spent with his wife in the Arctic forest. He was amazed by the beauty of such place. As stated,
During bright July days, we walked along ancient caribou trials. Jimmy gave his audience a sense of
imagery when he described the way the place is. The wildlife that Jimmy saw was extraordinary to
him as he examines more about the life in the Arctic National Wildlife. He experienced things that he
calls once in a lifetime, with him saying this, he draws the audience and citizens towards his view of
the place. Choosing to explain what he visualized in his writing makes it difficult to destroy the land.
Jimmy stated, that he was saddened

Where Men Win Glory, Jon Krakauer
Glory. It is an honor that all men, even if they are not aware, strive for. The definition of glory is
different for everyone. To one, glory might mean graduating medical school; to another, it could mean
taking center stage in a play as the applause surrounds her. To Pat Tillman, glory was not defined as a
multimillion dollar NFL contract or millions of adoring fans. It meant following his upright inner
voice and fulfilling his civil obligations. In Where Men Win Glory by Jon Krakauer, Tillman rejects a
successful football career to join the Army after being deeply disturbed by the September 11, 2011,
terrorist attack. I never thought a book with so much war and politics could be so heart wrenching.
Although I did not like the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Krakauer has a straight to the point, concrete writing style. I tend to favor abstract writing with a great
deal of figurative language. I had a hard time finding trope, but My favorite simile in the book is on
page 96. It said, Like a super villain in a Marvel comic book, he seemed to be endowed with the
ability to absorb the mightiest blows his enemy could deliver, draw energy from them, and become
more powerful as a consequence. This quote is comparing Osama bin Laden to a villain in a comic
book because it seemed like no matter what attempts the U.S. made to take him down, he always came
back stronger. If there had been more similes like this, the book would ve been better. Also, Krakauer
s excessive use of acronyms left me feeling frustratingly confused. Nevertheless, not all is bad about
Krakauer s writing technique. I was pleasantly surprised to find that he included actual entries from
Pat Tillman s journal and statements from Tillman s friends and family. In doing so, Krakauer made
me easily connect and empathize with Pat Tillman and his loved ones. This made a powerful impact
on the book and reader.
Despite my previous explanation of what I did not like about the book, the list of what I did like is
more significant. I will admit that I am not an avid reader. For a book to successfully make me feel
heartbroken says a lot. I had never heard of the story of Pat Tillman, so

Blade Runner Human Quotes
What makes something or someone human can often be unclear. Humans have many preconceived
notions about who and what they are and what their rightful place in society is. These notions,
however, are frequently at odds with reality. The uncertainty of what makes someone human is
explored in Ridley Scott s classic science fiction film Blade Runner. Dr. Eldon Tyrell s Tyrell
Corporation created the replicants to be sub human servants that were clearly distinct from and
inferior to human beings; the replicants were intentionally designed to be unable to express emotions,
particularly empathy, which is believed to be a trait that only human beings can possess. Human
beings believe that the quintessential thing that makes them human and distinguishes ... Show more

Once Deckard becomes a blade runner again, he shows no respect for the replicants, brutally
murdering every one he can find. Deckard does not display human feelings; in fact, he appears to be
the epitome of inhumanity. Deckard does not demonstrate any feelings at all, particularly empathy.
When examined closely, this is Scott s way of suggesting the possibility that Deckard may, in fact, be
a replicant as his actions and character development closely resemble that of a replicant. It is possible
that Deckard could be murdering his own people , and he might not even know it. Over time, Deckard
eventually begins to demonstrate feelings towards others, especially Rachel. His feelings for Rachel
are evident when he asks her, Do you love me...and do you trust me (Scott). After Rachel replies that
she does, Deckard demonstrates his love for Rachel by giving her an emotional kiss on the lips. As
Deckard falls in love with Rachel, a moral issue emerges. That is, he still continues to hunt someone
whom he loves. Morality and ethics have been completely disregarded. As time goes by, though,
Deckard appears to become more sophisticated and develops a sense of morality. He chooses not to
kill Rachel, and instead runs away with her (Scott). Deckard s actions coincide with the actions of the
replicants. When the replicants were first created, they did not display emotions, but over time, the
replicants became more complex and began to develop human like qualities. Similarly, Deckard has
done the same thing in his lifetime and it leads back to the possibility of him being a replicant. The
boundary between humans and the replicants is rapidly becoming unclear. This creates a feeling of
uncertainty, which is frightening as it leads to the thought that humans cannot be sure about what
makes them human and consequently they cannot be sure if they are in fact human. This threatens the
perception that the real

Woodland Middle School Observation
Starting my opening school experience I was nervous. I could not eat or sleep the day before. I woke
up bright and early to arrive at Woodland Middle School by 7:30am only to find out the school did not

chance to get familiar with the school and its principal, Dr. J. Stamper. Woodland Middle school is
located behind Camp Creek and is on Stone Rd. Their colors are blue and gold. The mascots of the
school are the Wolverines. Woodland s mission statement: Woodland Middle School is on the

brief meeting I learned that Woodland is a focus school. A focus school is the school s bottom 25% is

The Odyssey By Homer, Annotated Bibliography Essay
he Odyssey, as written by Homer, intricately and excitingly weaves Colin Renfrew s Subsystem
Theories throughout the entire play. Many of the five subsystem theories can be seen and support
understanding of the novel. Of the five systems, trade/communication, social/ political hierarchy and
symbolic subsystems will be the focus of analysis in this paper. All of these subsystems come together
in The Odyssey to explain the characters and their lives, and also how they fit into the society which
they live in. To understand the growth and development of the characters, we must understand the
systems theories, many human actions have a meaning at several different levels, with undertones and
overtones... it is the complex interconnectedness of the subsystems which gives human culture its
unique potential for growth. As this paper will demonstrate within The Odyssey, trade and
communication, social and political hierarchy and lastly symbolic subsystems create adventure in
Odysseus s harrowing, yet exciting journey back to his kingdom and family. These specific
subsystems add depth and excitement because we see how each specific one impacts Odysseus s
journey back home. They help us understand who Odysseus is a man and sympathize with all that he
goes through. The communication subsystem helps explain how communication between people (and
gods) in different lands aid to the success of his return home. We are able to see from the social
subsystem how Odysseus and other men

Social Unrest In Russia
3. Use source F and your own knowledge to explain why there was social unrest in Russia between
1890 and 1914.
Extremely unbalanced economy, uneven distribution of wealth and power between social classes
alongside political repression and military defeat were all contributing factors to the social unrest in
Russia. Social classes played an important role since the Tsar only satisfied the Upper Class resulting
in a lavish lifestyle for them meanwhile 87.5% lived in extreme poverty. The contrast between classes
and the different standards of living is what truly catalysed the social unrest. In 1902 bad harvests and
economic slumps meant starvation was a battle that peasants had to face everyday and by 1904
conditions took a turn for the worse ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

By examining source A we can see that it is moderately useful to a historian studying the role of

Nokia was seen as a successful company in different sectors because of which it was able to expand
geographically. It was famous as one of the European company during the early 1990s and later was
able to be recognized as the global leading company from the mid 1990s onward (Nokia, Our history,
n.d.).
Nokia was able to achieve two global mobile awards for Nokia at the first time in 19 year history and
all the nominees for the category were from the same manufacturer (Nokia, our history, 2014).
Today, Nokia is a famous leader in the technological world, offering different products regarding
mobile phones, telecommunication networks, multimedia terminals and wireless data solutions. For
more than ten years Nokia was unbeatable in the market, especially in a mobile phone industry. It
started all the way from the classic, huge featureless cell phones all the way to Lumia and tried to
compete with the market including the fancy Android operating system and iPhone but it seems little
late decision for recovery. Somehow it seems like not a good decision to choose the windows phone in
the competitive market of Android and iPhones (Siegal, 2014). A couple of years ago Nokia was
acquired by the Microsoft as it was going through its tough years but this will never change the fact
that Nokia was one of the most preferred phones over

  • 2. The Crucible Allegory Analysis Rough Draft The Crucible is similar to the Red Scare, but is The Crucible an allegory for the Red Scare? Here is why I think The Crucible is an allegory for the Red Scare. The Crucible by Arthur Miller is an allegory for the Red Scare on the McCarthy era because in The Crucible multiple people were incorrectly blamed for being witches just like in the Red Scare where people were incorrectly blamed for being communists, in both The Crucible and the Red Scare approximately everyone believed the outrageous accusations to avoid being killed, The Crucible is an allegory is an allegory for a Red Scare because is exposed another example of a time period in which fake accusations led to forced confessions. In The Crucible multiple people were incorrectly blamed for being witches just like in the Red Scare where people were incorrectly blamed for being communists. In both The Crucible and the Red Scare people were being falsely blamed for things that were not true. In The Crucible people were being incorrectly accused of being witches and communicating to the devil. You most certainly do, and you will free her from it now! When do you compact with the devil? This quote from The Crucible is basically saying that Hale was accusing Tituba of being a witch and speaking to the devil. In both The Crucible and the Red Scare there were people being accused of something that they were not. I I have no witness and cannot prove it except my word be taken. But I know the ... • 3. Brief Summary Of Martin Luther King s Speech The highlight of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day was the highly anticipated convocation featuring Dr. Cornel West as the keynote speaker. All freshmen were forced to go to this event, and it is safe to say most were more than reluctant to attend. The first half of the convocation went pretty close to how I was expecting. President Heckler gave a speech which I, personally, found extremely scripted and boring causing my mind to wander elsewhere. After Heckler finished, eventually it was time for Cornel West to speak, which was easily the most entertaining part of the event. West s speech began a little shaky, it felt to me as if he had no idea what he was going to say so he made random comments on the events that had taken place before he began ... • 4. Applying the Concept of Bipower to China s One Child Policy Michel Foucault was a French philosopher and one of the most influential social theorists of the second half of the twentieth century. He was born on the 15th of October 1936 and passed away on the 25th June 1984. His theories addressed the relationship between power and knowledge, and how they are used as a form of social control. His analysis breaks the concept of power apart, and his theory explains differences in various modes of power. In his study the History of Sexuality, he explores in the firth volume called Right of Death and Power over Life the triangle of power: (I) sovereign power; (II) disciplinary power; and (III) biopower. In this essay I will describe the relationship between each power and apply the concept of biopower to China s one child Policy. First what is Biopower? Well according to Foucault, biopower is a technology of power, which is a way of managing and controlling entire populations. Biopower led to the emergence of the modern nation state and capitalism. Foucault describes it as an explosion of numerous and diverse techniques for achieving the subjugations of bodies and the control of populations (Foucault 140). The primary and most important goal of biopower is life. The government goal is to secure and improve people s lives. Power is exercised exclusively over life, and is exercised either to foster life or to disallow it. Biopower according to Foucault is a power that exerts a positive influence on life, that endeavours to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Urvashi Butaliaia After Partition Recent feminist historiography by scholars like Urvashi Butalia has demonstrated that amid Partition, abducting women from the other group turned into a typical approach to shame the Muslim/Hindu/Sikh other; the apportionment of ladies from the other group was an approach to influence the collective honor, religious sentiment and the physical propagation of that group. This was the condition of the state after Partition. Nationalist discourse not just developed women as agents of ethnic community and honor; they additionally just valorised the Hindu/Sikh woman who, under danger of assault or kidnapping, conferred suicide and in this way shielded her honor. As obvious in Chand s remark, it was the subjectivity of women who submitted suicide ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Outsourcing Of The National Labor Committee Thinks Otherwise American companies and their products, have increasingly been pursed to be manufactured abroad. This however is one of the biggest discrepancies we confront within our economy. Although many businesses argue this is beneficial in order for them to turn a higher profit and be successful, the National Labor Committee thinks otherwise. Outsourcing has become one of the leading factors in product recalls, exploitation of workers, and a major contributor to the unemployment statistics in the US. Although outsourcing is a contributor to mass production and a products supply and demand growth, it has also been known for some of the largest product recalls. In the largest product recall in China in 2008, the baby formula of Sanlu (the largest company in the industry by volume was found to contain melamine originated from contaminated milk supply outsourced to local farmers. (Lu, Ng, Tao, 2012, p. 2). Lu, Ng, Tao simplify the term outsourcing by expressing how Outsourcing involves contracting with external suppliers for the delivery of parts and components with pre specified quality levels. (Lu, Ng, Tao, 2012, p. 2). This is a clear indication that product quality is never fully tested when outsourcing. Quality controllers are given a general guideline to aby with, and once met the product may be produced. As a consumer there is nothing more important than a products quality and reputation. It would be ethically unfair to a consumer to save their hard earned money in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. The Circular Plot In John Steinbeck s Of Mice And Men The Circular Plot in Of Mice and Men The author, John Steinbeck, utilizes a circular plot structure in his novel, Of Mice and Men, to show how prejudice and the impossibility of wishful desires will always be prevalent in society. He integrates multiple examples through the characters of this story; each individual representing a role in society. As Lennie and George travel from ranch to ranch, their dreams are challenged and Lennie is one of many who faces discrimination. To commence, repetition is used to introduce how Lennie has always been discriminated against due to his mental disability. For example, as they arrived on the new ranch, Lennie claims George said he was his cousin to the boss they had met. Conversely, George retorts that what he said was a lie, declaring that if he was a relative of [Lennie], [he d] shoot [himself] (Steinbeck 24). This illustrates how Lennie is often ridiculed for his condition, George concealing it to avoid losing their opportunity of receiving the Job on the ranch. This moment is one of many situations George has mistreated Lennie to some extent. Further evidence is when George explains to Slim what had discouraged him from mocking Lennie. He confesses to Slim that he played jokes on Lennie because it made him appear smart alongside of him, only stopping when he orders Lennie to jump in the lake. Lennie couldn t swim a stroke and he was so nice to [George] for [pulling] him out of the water in time to save his life (Steinbeck ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 15. Romanticism In Fredrick Douglass Critics struggle to fit Douglass s narrative into a literary genre, some believe it fits within the realm of Romanticism while others argue his narrative belongs under Realism. In nineteen century America, the African American voice was missing from literature. Slave narratives were not taken seriously and most slaves were not taught how to read or write. Douglass s was a self taught slave his narrative was a game changer Douglass was considered an intellectual and respected by most as a reputable author. This means, that Douglass s work does not need to have actually happened to be considered a realistic narrative, it just needs to seem like it could have happened and is a normal occurrence for slaves. After considering this, there are reasons that this narrative became so popular. Douglass s narrative does not portray an everyday occurrence of American slavery it is about one man who, with luck on his side, made it to freedom. Every slave did suffer, slaves were beaten, raped, whipped, and worked to death this narrative does catch the sorrow of slave life but it goes out of the ordinary. The famous line You have seen how a man was made a slave; you shall see how a slave was made a man. (Douglass, 73) is a chasm used to exemplify this. Overcoming oppression in the scene where Douglass takes on Mr. Covey the slave breaker (Douglass, 66) would not be a normal occurrence, Douglass triumphs and becomes the embodiment of a romantic hero. To overcome Covey, Douglas creates a need to invent a self outside of the active oppression around him. (Wessel). Instead of being realistic, this narrative is an example of propaganda, Douglass romanticises the fight to get his readers attention, to give slaves hope, and to grasp Northerners following in joining the abolitionists. • 17. A Literary Analysis Of Esperanza Rising By Pam Muñoz Ryan Literary Analysis of Esperanza Rising To foreshadow events in books or to tell the meaning of a story, authors often use symbolism. Symbolism uses people, places, or things that have their own meaning, to express something different. The author of Esperanza Rising, Pam Muñoz Ryan, uses a certain fruit or vegetable to symbolize events of emotions that occur in the chapter. Three chapters in Esperanza Rising that represent an important part of the book are Los Higos, Las Cebollas, and Los Aquacates. In Esperanza Rising, figs, onions, and avocados symbolize a new beginning, the acceptance of starting anew, and the rewards followed after hardship. Los Higos, or figs, represent a new beginning, because of Esperanza s journey through the fig orchard. Mama and Esperanza execute their plan, in which they leave under the cover of darkness for California. During their trip, they walk through the fig orchard separating El Rancho de las Roses and Señor Rodriquez s ranch. When Esperanza turned around at the end of the fig orchard, She could see nothing behind her but a trail of splattered figs she had resentfully smashed beneath her feet. • 21. Symptoms And Treatment Of Ptsd Veterans It is evident that reforms are necessary within the VA system and society in regards to PTSD and veterans. How can the American veterans be better taken care of? I will focus on the following four specific issues that are in need of reform, 1. How can wait times be decreased for veterans seeking mental health treatment? 2. How can the stigma attached to PTSD in veterans be eliminated? 3. How can veterans receive immediate assistance in times of crisis? 4. How can we ensure that diagnosed PTSD veterans will continue treatment after receiving full monetary compensation? Focusing on these research questions, I propose to conduct research on decreasing wait times for PTSD related appointments, reducing, or eliminating, the stigma attached to PTSD in veterans, providing a way for veterans to receive immediate PTSD crisis help, and a way to ensure that veterans diagnosed with PTSD continue treatment. Veterans often experience long wait times to schedule an appointment for PTSD. Through additional research I have found that according to a study in 2003 by the American Legion, of approximately 300,000 veterans waiting for health care, over half of them had been waiting over eight months for an appointment (American Legion, 2013). I further researched how many VA facilities in the United States offer specialized treatment for PTSD. In all 50 states, and Washington, DC, there are a total of 139 facilities (US Department of Veterans Affairs, 2015). I propose to conduct a telephone ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Gemix Slot Machines is unique for it mixes into the arcade game category while many still consider it a slots type of game. With this, it seems to be a popular arcade/slot machine hybrid game due to its addictive gameplay, attractive interface, and of course, its casino like energy and concept. We can say that it s reminiscent of the beloved Candy Crush Saga mobile game because of Gemix s matching gems mechanic and its associated features. Before we get into how Gemix is played, let s first discuss how the game looks when you start to play it. Play N Go makes efforts to make sure their games look and play in a similar fashion compared to their other well known mobile games, and while there s not too much to be in awe about in terms of looks for Gemix, it s cleaner than most related games. Gemix does just have gems on the screen and nothing else that special, but it looks pretty sufficient for its game category so you won t be disappointed. When you first play the game, Gemix looks like any other slot machine game in the market with its seven reels, but these reels don t function like you think they would. A computer lab is an efficient way to deliver access to computers and the Internet to students. A thin client lab will allow Dvorak to extend its financial resources by saving on new computer resources and extending the life of existing assets. In addition, computer lab fat clients require substantial maintenance to keep the systems in working order. While CPS s computer support systems help with this task through programs like Deep Freeze, routine hardware maintenance as well as software installs and updates not covered by CPS can be a significant drain on technology coordinator resources. A thin client architecture can reduce the workload of the technology coordinators by centralizing management and reducing the kinds of workstation maintenance that needs to be done. Finally, thin client networks are very scaleable. If, in the future, web based applications or productivity applications require more processing power than is currently available in the lab, additional servers can be added to the system to handle the added load instead of upgrading all of the workstations. As classroom desktop computers are upgraded, the older classroom machines can be used as additional workstations in the lab, or replace failing lab systems, or deployed in a new lab. To one, glory might mean graduating medical school; to another, it could mean taking center stage in a play as the applause surrounds her. To Pat Tillman, glory was not defined as a multimillion dollar NFL contract or millions of adoring fans. It meant following his upright inner voice and fulfilling his civil obligations. In Where Men Win Glory by Jon Krakauer, Tillman rejects a successful football career to join the Army after being deeply disturbed by the September 11, 2011, terrorist attack. It said, Like a super villain in a Marvel comic book, he seemed to be endowed with the ability to absorb the mightiest blows his enemy could deliver, draw energy from them, and become more powerful as a consequence. This quote is comparing Osama bin Laden to a villain in a comic book because it seemed like no matter what attempts the U.S. made to take him down, he always came back stronger. If there had been more similes like this, the book would ve been better. Also, Krakauer s excessive use of acronyms left me feeling frustratingly confused. Nevertheless, not all is bad about Krakauer s writing technique. I was pleasantly surprised to find that he included actual entries from Pat Tillman s journal and statements from Tillman s friends and family. In doing so, Krakauer made me easily connect and empathize with Pat Tillman and his loved ones. This made a powerful impact on the book and reader. • 28. Blade Runner Human Quotes What makes something or someone human can often be unclear. Humans have many preconceived notions about who and what they are and what their rightful place in society is. These notions, however, are frequently at odds with reality. The uncertainty of what makes someone human is explored in Ridley Scott s classic science fiction film Blade Runner. Dr. Eldon Tyrell s Tyrell Corporation created the replicants to be sub human servants that were clearly distinct from and inferior to human beings; the replicants were intentionally designed to be unable to express emotions, particularly empathy, which is believed to be a trait that only human beings can possess. Human beings believe that the quintessential thing that makes them human and distinguishes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Once Deckard becomes a blade runner again, he shows no respect for the replicants, brutally murdering every one he can find. Deckard does not display human feelings; in fact, he appears to be the epitome of inhumanity. Deckard does not demonstrate any feelings at all, particularly empathy. When examined closely, this is Scott s way of suggesting the possibility that Deckard may, in fact, be a replicant as his actions and character development closely resemble that of a replicant. It is possible that Deckard could be murdering his own people , and he might not even know it. Over time, Deckard eventually begins to demonstrate feelings towards others, especially Rachel. His feelings for Rachel are evident when he asks her, Do you love me...and do you trust me (Scott). After Rachel replies that she does, Deckard demonstrates his love for Rachel by giving her an emotional kiss on the lips. As Deckard falls in love with Rachel, a moral issue emerges. That is, he still continues to hunt someone whom he loves. Morality and ethics have been completely disregarded. As time goes by, though, Deckard appears to become more sophisticated and develops a sense of morality. He chooses not to kill Rachel, and instead runs away with her (Scott). Deckard s actions coincide with the actions of the replicants. When the replicants were first created, they did not display emotions, but over time, the replicants became more complex and began to develop human like qualities. Similarly, Deckard has done the same thing in his lifetime and it leads back to the possibility of him being a replicant. The boundary between humans and the replicants is rapidly becoming unclear. This creates a feeling of uncertainty, which is frightening as it leads to the thought that humans cannot be sure about what makes them human and consequently they cannot be sure if they are in fact human. This threatens the perception that the real ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
