India faces significant issues with hunger, malnutrition, and food waste. Over 200 million Indians go to sleep hungry daily and over 20% of the population is undernourished. Meanwhile, approximately 30% of fruits and vegetables perish due to lack of cold storage and over 30% of grain spoils in ill-equipped warehouses, contributing to food waste. While the government runs large nutrition programs, they have had mixed results. Addressing both increasing access to food and reducing waste will be important to decreasing hunger in India.
