Limestone is a sedimentary rock made mainly of calcium carbonate. It has many uses including in building materials, making glass, cement production, and neutralizing acidic soils and lakes. Limestone is quarried which provides materials but can also cause environmental issues like noise, dust, and habitat loss. When limestone is strongly heated, it undergoes a thermal decomposition reaction producing calcium oxide and carbon dioxide.
