Effect of the use of crumb rubber in conventional bitumen on the marshall sta...eSAT Journals
Abstract In today’s era, solid waste management is the thrust area. Out of this various waste materials, plastic waste, tyre waste and municipal solid waste are of great concern. On the other side, the road traffic is increasing. The traffic intensity isalso increasing. The load bearing capacities of the road are to be increased. Our present work is helping to take care of both these aspects.Plastic waste, consisting of carry bags, cups, thermocoles, etc. can be used as a coating over aggregate and this coated stone can be used for road construction. Secondly the waste tires are powdered and the powder is blended with bitumen and this blend is used along with plastic coated aggregate. The mix polymer coated aggregate and tyre modified bitumen have shown higher strength. Use of this mix for road construction helps to use both plastics waste and tyre waste.Stone aggregate is coated with the molten waste plastics. The coating of plastics reduces the porosity, absorption of moisture and improves soundness. The polymer coated aggregate bitumen mix forms better material for flexible pavement construction as the mix shows higher Marshall Stability value and suitable Marshall Coefficient. Moreover the polymer coated aggregate helps to use Crumb rubber modified bitumen resulting in better result. Strong waste administration is one of the major natural concerns everywhere throughout the world. Tire-rubber particles made out of tire chips, piece elastic, and a mix of tire chips and scrap elastic, where utilized to supplant mineral totals in cement. These particles were utilized to supplant 10% , 15% , 20%, and 25% of the aggregate mineral totals volume in cement.Using rubber aggregates in such applications can help to prevent pollution and overcome the problem of storing used tyres. Advantages if using rubber aggregates to replace and coarse aggregates is that waste rubber that is expensive to store and is a hazard, can be reused

Generation of plastics has increased significantly. Utilization of all types of plastics is unavoidable and it will produce non-biodegradable waste materials. The waste plastics are harmful to the environment if it is not disposed properly. It is very useful in the design and development of high quality flexible road pavement. So, adding the waste plastics as additives in the mix design of the pavement was expected to give good performance when comparing with conventional mix. In this project, advantages and development of modified bitumen is to be studied. The dosage of LDPE modified binder has taken as 6%, 8% &10% in the Open Graded Frictional Course (OGFC) mix design by wet process. The result shows the performance of OGFC mix using PMB.

What is the Soundness of Cement?
What is mean by soundness of cement? This is what soundness definition in civil engineering says “The ability of cement to resist the expansion and retain its original volume is called Soundness of Cement.” This indicates that a perfectly sound cement will undergo minimum volume change.
What is the soundness test?
The soundness test measures the change in volume due to expansion. This expansion should not exceed 10 mm for OPC, rapid hardening cement and low heat Portland cements. If the expansion goes more than 10 mm on testing, the cement is said to be unsound.
The soundness test can be conducted by Le-chatelier method and Autoclave Method. Le-chatelier test detects unsoundness due to free lime only.

Analogy of Some Physicomechanical Properties for Rubber Cementijtsrd
The research is aimed to characterize and apply the rubber cement. The physicomechanical properties of rubber cement such as tensile strength, elongation at break, waste uptake and compression percent were determined by standard rubber testing. Tensile strength of 28 to 32 kg cm2, elongation at break of 580 to 630 , water uptake 24 hours of 8 to 10 and compression percent of 80 to 85 were obtained. Determination of swelling parameters of rubber cements was carried out with respect to selected oil gasoline . The manufacture of products from recycled materials has technologic, economic, and environmental advantages that have become attractive in recent years. The ever increasing amount of waste rubber from disposal of used tires has grown into a serious environmental problem around the world. In this paper, the authors have discussed about the replacement of aggregates by discarded tyre rubber. This type of concrete is known as “Rubcrete”. It will cover the problems with the natural aggregate and also the reasons behind the use of rubber. The types of tyre rubber that are used, influence of size and content of rubber on concrete, effect of surface texture are discussed. Change in the properties of rubcrete over the conventional concrete, in hardened and fresh state such as slump, unit weight, air content, plastic shrinkage, mechanical strength been discussed. Paper covers the mechanisms behind the strength change, impact resistance, heat and sound insulation, freezing and thawing resistance of rubcrete. At the last, discussion on applications of rubcrete.
Generically, the term rubber in use comprises Indian rubber(Also known as natural rubber), synthetic rubber, or a combination of both the rubbers.
Natural rubbers and Synthetic rubbers are elastomers. Most of the time, synthetic rubbers get tagged as artificial rubber.
It makes around two-third of rubber production all across the globe.

Observability Concepts EVERY Developer Should Know -- DeveloperWeek Europe.pdfPaige Cruz
Monitoring and observability aren’t traditionally found in software curriculums and many of us cobble this knowledge together from whatever vendor or ecosystem we were first introduced to and whatever is a part of your current company’s observability stack.
While the dev and ops silo continues to crumble….many organizations still relegate monitoring & observability as the purview of ops, infra and SRE teams. This is a mistake - achieving a highly observable system requires collaboration up and down the stack.
I, a former op, would like to extend an invitation to all application developers to join the observability party will share these foundational concepts to build on:

As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software FuzzingAftab Hussain
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).

Application & Characteristics
of RV Revived Rubber
Mixing method of RV revived rubber and raw compound rubber
First add RV revived rubber for mill running on the open mill, and add raw compound rubber, mix, sheet evenly,
and vulcanize.
As for the property conservation rate of RV revived rubber, it has close relation with the types of the waste rubber.
If calculated only in the tensile strength, RV revived rubber can keep 50%-85% of the tensile strength of the crude
rubber.
Characteristics of RV revived rubber
1. With increased anti-recovery, low permanent deformation and compression, high rebound elasticity and low
rolling resistance, it can shorten the mixing time, reduce the temperature of mixing, rolling and extrusion,
improve the tackiness of the semi-finished products and the intensity of the rubber compound, and reduce the
extrusion expansion and contraction.
2. RV revived rubber is safe in processing with anti-scorch function, and prolongs the scorching time after
plastifing below 100℃.
3. Adding RV revived rubber can shorten the vulcanizing time, and is helpful to increase the productivity.
RV revived rubber can be mixed with additives like common rubber, and can save accelerator and vulcanizing
agent of the raw compound rubber, which cost a lot. For instance, if the raw compound rubber: RV revived
rubber =60:40, the accelerator and sulfur added into the raw compound rubber of 60 parts by weight decreases
by 1/4 respectively. Hopefully, the factory can determine the dosage according to the actual situation.
4. RV revived rubber has the anti over cure property, which has special meanings for tire molding and
retreading, as the existence of RV revived rubber cuts down the danger of over cure or reviving.
5. Application in thermoplastic elastomer: NR/PP+RV revived rubber of 50%; the tensile strength can be
increased from 6Mpa to 12Mpa.
The test shows that after 150℃×15min vulcanizing, 100% RV revived rubber can make the rubber chain
scission and reclaimed again without adding RV rubber reclaiming agent with the tensile strength almost
unchanged compared with the RVR revived rubber vulcanized for the first time, which makes us believe that
RV rubber reclaiming agent shows the actual scene of the factory without waste rubber.
Considering the properties and costs of the products, it is undesirable to use 100% RV revived rubber. We
recommend you to use 90% RV revived rubber to replace raw compound rubber.

6. Purpose of RV revived rubber produced by tire rubber powder: Can be applicable to small motorcycle tires,
solid tires, retreading tires and truck tires, and OTR tire parts; shoe soles and heels (mold pressing and injection
mold), mixing of thermoplastic rubber (TPRS), injection molding products, ebonite rubber, toys and a large
amount of other common rubber products.
RV revived rubber can be applicable to all fields including the tire field. As is known to all, 5-10% of tire rubber
powder can be used for tires. If the RV revived rubber is used, the application proportion can be highly
increased, especially in the cross-country tires.
Storage Period of RV revived rubber
If the RV revived rubber is disposed properly, which means, it has been cooled to the environment temperature
before storage, it can be stored for more than 6 months. When storing, the Mooney viscosity of the rubber may
increase a little, but will decrease to the original level or even lower (subject to the rubber refining condition) when
mixing on the open mill again; if RV revived rubber got scorching partially, it is easy to recover by mixing three
times (without adding any additives) on the rubber fining mixer.
Other Applications of RV Revived Rubber
1. Interface problems in the mixing of different types of rubber can be settled
EPDM waste disposed by RV and added with NR (RV-EPDM revived rubber + NR) can greatly increase the
weather resistance of the products, which are not easy to bloom or fade. The interface problems in the mixing of
different types of rubber are decreases, and the property is increased.
EPDM waste disposed by RV and added with NBR (RV-EPDM revived rubber + NBR) can greatly increase the
weather resistance and oil resistance of the products, which are not easy to bloom or fade. The interface problems in
the mixing of different types of rubber are decreases, and the property is increased.
EPDM and RV-IIR rubber waste disposed by RV and added with NR (RV-EPDM revived rubber and RV-IIR
revived rubber + NR) can greatly increase the weather resistance, oil resistance and air tightness of the products,
which are not easy to bloom.
2. RV revived rubber can be used for producing thermoplastic elastomer.
3. RV revived rubber can be used as the cross-linking agent of plastics (PVC) and rubber.
4. RV revived rubber can toughen the waste polypropylene PP/waste tire rubber powder composite materials,
increase the impact strength and tensile strength of the composite materials, and enhance the compatibility.

Factors Influencing the Properties of RV Revived Rubber:
1. RV revived rubber produced by rubber powder of 40 meshes:
1) Particle diameter size of the rubber powder: The smaller the particle diameter, the better the property, the better
the RVR extension, the lower the Mooney viscosity.
2) Particle diameter distribution of rubber powder: The evener the distribution of the particle diameter, the better.
3) Superficial area size of the rubber powder: The bigger than the superficial area, the better.
4) Specific surface activity of the rubber powder: The bigger the activity, the better.
5) Addition volume of RV rubber reclaiming agent: General dosage is 2-4, and can be adjusted according to the
rubber content of the waste rubber.
2. RV revived rubber produced by waster rubber leftovers:
1) Rubber content of waste rubber leftovers: The higher the content, the better the property.
2) Filler content of waste rubber leftovers: The higher the content, the poorer the property.
3) Addition volume of RV rubber reclaiming agent: General dosage is 2-4, and can be adjusted according to the
rubber content of the waste rubber.
4) Scattered evenness of RV rubber reclaiming agent: The evener it scattered, the better.
5) Compatibility of RV rubber reclaiming agent and waste rubber leftovers: The higher the compatibility, the better.
6) Sulfur content of waste rubber leftovers: The higher the sulfur content, the easier to revive, the better the
property.
3. Influences of processing factors:
1) Selection of processing machine: The refining mill is the best.
2) The roll pitch control of the open mill: The smaller, the better.
3) Temperature control while processing: 40-60℃ is the most suitable.
4) Processing time: Evenly mix the materials, not for too long or too short. The users can adjust according to the
waste rubber. Generally, 15 minutes is ideal for open mill, and 10 minutes for refining mill.
5) Revolution ratio of the open mill and the revolution speed of the internal mixer: The bigger the revolution ratio
of the open mill, the better the RVR effect; it is better when the revolution speed of the internal mixer is 40 rpm.
