3. Rearing Technique of Honey Bee
 Catching a swarm/colony
 Catching time: Afternoon
 Collector dress: Thick cloth, bee veil, gloves
 Materials:
I. Basket or small box(one side open)
II. Mosquito net, Rope
III. Leafy wig or Feather
 Catchning Technique:
I. Place the basket near the colony
II. Move the bees gently into it with a feather/smoke, leafy wig
III. Make sure queen has entered into the basket
IV. Cover the open side of basket with mosquito net and tied it with rope.

 Hiving time: Late at the afternoon
 Hiving Chamber: Brood chamber of the bee box
 Hiving Technique:
I. Withdraw 3-5 frames from the brood chamber
II. Release the swarm along with queen
III. As soon as all the bees enter into the brood chamber replace the withdrawn frames and covered the chamber with
inner and top cover
 Technique of setting the swarm:
I. Place the comb foundation sheet
II. Place the queen at the entrance
III. Feed the swarm

 Colony Inspection : 2-3daysBee colony needs to inspect atleast once in every 2-3days during first few days
before settlement of the swarm in the bee box and then once in every7days.
