The Positive Impact Of September 11 And Its Impacts
On September 11, 2001 at 8:46 am, the world that the world previously knew, changed forever. A
terrorist group, Al Qaeda, hijacked 4 different planes, all taking off from northeastern United
States, and took control. The first plane, American Airlines Flight 11, flew to New York City and
crashed into the North Tower of the World Trade Center
, killing everyone on board the plane as
well as hundreds of others trapped inside the building (history.com). Then, a second plane,
United Airlines Flight 175, crashed into the floors 75 85 of the World trade Center s South
Tower, again killing everyone on board as well as hundreds inside. Suddenly, all flights were
banned from taking off if they were going to New York City or through the airspace above the
city, but only about an hour later, Hijackers aboard Flight 77, crashed the third plane into the
western facade of the Pentagon in Washington D.C. Then, at 9:59 am, the unthinkable happens, the
South Tower collapses. Not even 30 minutes later the North Tower collapses as well, only 102
minutes about being struck by the plane (history.com). Around 2,996 people died because of this
terrorist attack and over 6,000 others were injured including 343 firefighters, 60 police officers, and
8 paramedics (Prince). This unexpected terrorist attacks has significant impacts to the economy, and
was especially detrimental considering it was completely unexpected. Immediately after the attack,
suspicion fell on the Islamic terrorist group al Qaeda.

Domenico Di Michelino s Divine Comedy
Domenico di Michelino: Dante s Divine Comedy Painting
Introduction:
Domenico di Michelino (1417 1491), an Italian painter and medieval poet was known best for his
epic poem, The Divine Comedy, which includes sections representing the three tiers of the Christian
afterlife: Purgatory (Purgatorio), Hell (Inferno), and Paradise (Paradiso). This poem was a great
work of medieval literature and was considered the greatest work of literature composed in Italian.
The Divine Comedy was a Christian vision of mankind s eternal fate. When The Divine Comedy
was written, Dante made a cathedral painting that represents his poem called Dante and His Poem.
In the painting, the Dante shows the 3 tiers related to the Christian afterlife. Dante was standing in
a red robed colossus, revealing his poem to the city of Florence. The painting was full of great
meaning, inspiring so many artists from Rodin to Robert Rauschenberg.
Biographical Details: Dante was born in Florence, Italy to Alaghiero and Bella. His mom died
before Dante turned 10 years old, and he soon had a new stepmother and two new siblings. He once
lived in Bologna for a couple of years until his exiles were banished then he moved to Padua. He
took his name from his teacher, a carver in bone and ivory named Michelino. He was elected to the
Compagnia di San Luca (painter s guild) in 1442 and joined the Arte dei Medici e degli Speziali in
1444. Dante s last works dates to 1484, two images of St. Luke for the banner of

Manhattan Project
The purpose of the manhattan project was to develop an atomic bomb for the United States
defenses. President Roosevelt ordered it to be created. And it was to be kept secret so it wasn t
stolen by germans and other spies to speed up their nuclear process.
The bomb was to only be used in war. It was dropped on nagasaki, and each bomb had a code name
like thinman or little boy or fatman ect.
There were many atomic spies at the time and germany attempted to steal technology from the

The most important advances in Healthcare Science in the last 20 years and how one of these will
lead the way for the future of healthcare: Advances in Healthcare Science have allowed hospitals
and clinics to ease the treatment of their patients, as well as giving patients a greater number of
options when approaching their healthcare, as well as more efficient and effective care.
The Human Genome Discoveries (Cox, 2009), were a very significant breakthrough in healthcare.
In 2000, scientists in with the International
Human Genome Project released a rough draft of the human genome to the public (Cox, 2009) and
the final high quality version in 2003 (National Human
Genome Research Institute (NHGRI), 2011) occurred, opening the doors to whole new possibilities
in medicine, with regards to genetics and gene therapy. The DNAsequence of the entire human
genome was pieced together after a greatly anticipated 13 years, which allowed scientists and
biological researchers to establish the genetic make up of proteins, which essentially make up the
human body. The Human Genome Project (HGP) sequenced only
euchromatic regions of the genome, which make up about 90% of the genome (En.wikipedia.org,
2016), which consists of, more or less, a majority of the DNA sequences in humans. Unlocking this
huge amount of biological knowledge was exciting, but definitely slightly daunting, as these DNA
sequences had to be identified in

Romeo And Juliet Tybalt Conflict
Forever drawing their words, the Capulets and Montagues reveal no temptation to halt the ancient
feud between them. As the son of the Montague, Romeo, reveals his presence in a Capulet party,
Tybalt flares with rage, declaring to Lord Capulet, That men there s a Montague, our foe. A villain
who has come here in spite to mock at our celebration tonight. (I.v.62 64). Tybaltconveys his
irritation towards Lord Capulet, exhibiting his passion and devotion towards the conflict among the
two families. Although the reason for Tybalt s frustration reaches Capulet, Capulet mentions how
the Montagues can stay as long as they remain civil. Thus, originating a question in the reader s

However, the inquiry at hand does not emphasize the hatred among the two houses, but instead,
questions their reasoning for such an ongoing rivalry. Friar Lawrence additionally states, For this
alliance may happily prove to end your families feud, their hate remove. (II.iii.96 97). Not only does
the conflict between the households portray no viable reason, but it troubles those involved, such as
the Montague, Friar Lawrence. Lord Capulet and Lord Montague may contain mindsets strictly
based off the feud between them. Nevertheless, as elders, they display unawareness of the troubles
the rivalry has brought to their peers as well as the disturbance it precipitates for thoughts of
impartiality from youths. Moreover, the audience can infer how if these characters consider the
thoughtless purpose of the conflict, problems would not have surfaced when Friar Lawrence
marries Romeo and Juliet, where his only motive composes of the elimination of the Capulet
Montague strife. Through the inclusion of an unknown purpose for the obstinate feud, William
Shakespeare depicts a probable reason for the troubles and possible despair of various

What Is The Ethical Code Of Ethics
Paran, Kate Gabrielle
Resurreccion, Diandra Mae
Rosales, Lyka
INTRODUCTION
Ethics is basically a common thing that the world expects for an individual to possess. This is
concerned solely with moral values and principles of individuals. According to an American Judge,
Potter Stewart Ethics is knowing the difference between what you have a right to do and what is
right to do. This states that every individual differs from perceptions of their minds about what you
have a right to do and what is the right thing to do. What you have a right to do indicate the
individual s ability to do what is legal, but this doesn t necessarily mean it is the right thing to do.
Ethics is different from law, sometimes people misinterpret this and do things that they are required
to do rather than what they are allowed to do which unconsciously leads them with doing unethical
things.
Ultimately, ethics is important not so that we can understand ... Show more content on

It deals with human conduct and how an individual reacts and decides appropriately. In a
profession, there are ethics that should be observed in order to maintain the public interest for the

code includes detailed guidelines to encourage ethical and responsible behavior to their employees.
Accounting profession has a code of ethics containing the required behavior of accountants for the
profession. It represents the ethical requirements needed to observe and comply in order to act
responsibly in the public interest. The fundamental principles presented in the code help
accountants avoid any action that could discredit the profession. The code of ethics provides an
opportunity for accounting professionals to examine the values and goals of their work, and offer
information to others about what can be expected from them. (Thorpe and Blake,

Essay Comparing The Devil And Tom Walker
The Devil and Tom Walker and the The Devil and Daniel Webster have many differences along
with several similarities. A few examples would be the different depiction of the Devil and the
similarities of the role of religion. Some points may be larger than others, but one can see the
relationship between both of the books in many different aspects of he was dressed in a rude,
half Indian garb, and had a red belt or sash swathed round his body, but his face was neither black
nor copper color, but swarthy and dingy and begrimed with soot, as if he had been accustomed to
toil among fires and forges. (Irving, p. 2 3)
The first difference between the short stories are their very own different depiction of the Devil.
In The Devil and Tom Walker, the devil is portrayed as a that confronts Tom about the deal that
he can go through to abolish his mediocre life. On the contrary, the Devil in The Devil in Daniel
Webster was a calm, cool, businessman that was a Soft spoken, dark dressed stranger (Benet, p.12)

and silver become wood shavings, and his mortgages become cinders. Later his house burns to the
ground and is haunted to this day. In The Devil and Daniel Webster on the other hand was a
massively different outcome. The ending of this story ends with a court appearance of Jabez Stone
in his own house to see what sentence he will get from the jury. The jury announces that We find

Proposal On Foster Care
Providing a child with an outstanding support system is a vital key in creating an environment
in which he or she can learn how to grow as a child, and as a human being. Here at American
Airlines we strive to provide children with the absolute highest of quality in foster care. We are
pleased to create a proposal that, we believe, will help the Dallas foster caresystem improve on
some of their current issues. The proposal aims to not only construct and provide local events to
raise awareness about these issues, but to also host fundraisers geared towards improving the living
conditions of foster children. One of these issues is the overcrowding of current foster homes in the
Dallas metroplex area.
l
Figure 1 shows foster home capacity needs by county: red meaning an under supply of foster
homes, and blue meaning an oversupply of foster homes. From figure 1, we can see that Dallas
County is facing a deficit (undersupplied) of foster homes available to foster children. We can also
see from Figure 1 that the surrounding areas of Dallas, such as: Denton county, Collin county,
Kaufman county, and Rockwall county all have an oversupply of foster homes. This means that
children from Dallas county have no other choice but to move to foster homes outside of Dallas
county. This results in moving away from friends and family, which can be traumatizing to a child.
We feel that this is one of the primary problems we aim to fix in the Dallas foster care system.

Notes on Significant Religious Events and People in History
The Council of Trent was fairly important in its role of stratifying the Christian Church. The
council occurred over a period of nearly 20 years in Italy and was initiated by the Roman Catholic
Church. There were a number of points of contention that the council was able to satisfy with other
components of Christianity, namely those pertaining to the Protestant movement that was still
relatively new at the time. Essentially, the council was able to formalize proceedings and practices
for several sacraments and other conceptions of Christianity including notions of original sin and
the Eucharist. The Hanseatic League occurred approximately between the 13th and the 17th
centuries along the coastline of the Northern part of Europe. What the league was initially formed
for was to secure trade for merchants who traveled outside of their native cities. It involved cities in
various parts of Germany and Holland, among other nations. Trade guilds and those for merchants
helped to develop many of the measures that were implemented by the guild in attempts to protect
the economic interests of European cities when their merchants traveled abroad to inherently
import and export goods. The Society of Jesuswas the principle organization that engendered the
modern day scion of Christianity whose members are known as Jesuits. This society was initially
formed by Ignatius in the early part of the 16th century. Ignatius developed this organization in

Jake loses many friends and was even beat up by Robert Cohn because of his likeness towards

Cause Of The English Revolution
In 17th century, series of rebellions and civil wars occurred, known famously as the English
Revolution. These events occurred primarily as the result of a power struggle between
Parliament and the king. The revolutions served to decide how the power would be distributed in
the English government. The events that led up to the English Revolution began largely after the
death of Queen Elizabeth I, marking the end of the Tudor dynasty in 1603. James I was crowned
king, and the Stuart dynasty began. James, unlike his predecessor, believed in divine right of
kings, a concept that said kings were chosen for the position by God and were all powerful. This is
a concept opposite to that of popular sovereignty, in which the power of governmentwas given and
sustained by the people, rather than god. This created a rift... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Dissension among Parliament and the people of England was increased by the fact that James
was strongly devoted to the Church of England, which displeased the Puritans, who wished to
make the church more Protestant. Because the lower house of Parliament was composed
primarily of Puritans, the new king was not popular with most of the members of Parliament. At
one point, Parliament passed a law stating that citizens could not be taxed without Parliament s
permission, which limited the king s power. James, who believed in the divine right of kings,
was displeased by this. He believed that, as a man chosen by god to be a supreme ruler, he should
not follow laws, and did not believe in the concept of constitutionalism. Constitutionalism is a
concept that says all rulers must obey laws, regardless of standing. Henry I, son of James, further
displeased the Puritans by attempting to force ritual on the Church of England, making it seem
more Catholic. The Puritans believed Henry to be an enemy of liberty, particularly religious
liberty, as he was trying to take away their religious

Prophets
To many Christians the Prophets are seen as being predictors of the Messiah, but it can be argued
that one can take any tidbit of information from a source (not just the bible) and use it, whether
within context or out of context, to support one s argument. In my opinion, as far as the prophets
are concerned, just because the prophets seem to predict the coming of the Messiah because of the
parallels that have been drawn between the books of the prophets and the New Testament does not
necessarily mean that they were able to predict the future it means that the New Testament authors
such as Matthew had either heard or could refer back to the writings of the Old Testamentprophets
such as Isaiah, Micah, and Hosea. The problem is not that the... Show more content on

For example, Hosea names two of his children Lo ruhmah and Lo ammi. As Borg points out,
these are Hebrew phrases that mean not pitied and not my people . Borg also points out that the
names represent a threat because the days are coming when Israel will be not pitied and not my
(God s) people . Chapter two of Hosea describes a divorce which seems to represent the end of
the covenant between God and the Northern Kingdom a symbolic act where by the divorce of
Hosea from Gamer for infidelity represents God s rejection of the Northern Kingdom. In typical
fashion, though, Hosea ends this prophecy with the declaration that God will one day renew the
covenant and will take back Israel. Another example of the allegory in Hosea is in chapter three
when Hosea seeks out Gomer again. Either she sold herself into slavery because of debt or she
is with someone who demands money in order to give her up because Hosea has to buy her
back. Even after he takes her name though he refrains from having sex with her for a while to
symbolize the fact that Israel will be without a King for many years but that God will take Israel

Reflective Essay On Service
To do service is to help others and to do justice is to serve. With limited service experience and
minimal justice work, I have a different understanding of what justice is and how I can do it as a
professional. The service work that I have done while at Creighton happened during my freshman
year. My idea of justicecomes from how I was raised, some personal experience, and one of the
readings that was discussed in class.
My experience with service while at Creighton started and ended my freshman year with the
Freshman Leadership Program. Because this service experience was three years ago I do not
remember all of the details and conversations that I had while doing this service, following is what
I remember of my service experiences. One of the service sites that I went to through this program
was the South Omaha Boys and Girls Club. At the club the members of the program were asked to
play with the kids, helped the children make crafts, and teach kids from 12 to 14 years of age
about bullying.
When I think about how I was feeling about this service I did not really understand how I was
helping out the organization or how this was really considered service. I was just walking around
talking to kids who could care less if I was there or not. When I think of who really benefitted from
me going to this service site once a week, my list starts with institutions, Creighton University, the
Freshman Leadership Program, the Boys and Girls Club. Then on a lesser scale

transmission delay (T0) is initialised at one second and the rate or frequency is initialised at 10
Hz. The algorithm begins at full rate when the CBR is less than CBRMin. When the CBR
becomes greater than the CBRMin and less than the CBRMax, the rate is adjusted as a function
of T0, О» and О±. When the CBR becomes greater than CBRMax, the rate is decreased by
increasing T0 until the CBRAv is achieved and T0 is equal to 1 or less. In general, the idea
consists of computing the differential CBR (О», О»1), the transmission delay T0 as well as the
coefficient О± to adjust the broadcasting delay as a function of a preset CBRMax. The IDBSMA
concept is build upon the DBSMA while taking into consideration the preset CBRMax. For
clarification, the flow diagram of the proposed algorithm is depicted in Fig.2. The proposed
IDBSMA algorithm was implemented in Matlab and several simulations performed to assess and
evaluate the effectiveness of the IDBSMA against the DBSMA. Although, the DBSMA
performance was already demonstrated against its peer in [8], some weaknesses in terms of
robustness were observed. Considering the likehood of car accident

Essay On Urban Planning By Jane Jacobs
JANE JACOBS CITY STREETS AND THE MIX OF USES
Urban planning is an important aspect of city life, especially in light of today s dynamic economy
and environment. With increasing levels of crime, pollution, and environmental degradation, many
cities are looking for new solutions to solve these. Large influences on the ideas that are shaping
urban planning today come from urban theorist, Jane Jacobs. Jacobs challenged the way urban
planners, architects, urban designer and sociologist thought about cities. In order to solve the kind
of problem which cities pose , Jacobs promotes the idea of the use of sidewalks includes three
majors. It is about city sidewalk safety and sidewalk contacts. Jacobs wrote that there must be eyes
upon the street, eyes belonging to those we might call the natural proprietors of the street. Through
analyzing and observing such things as city streets and sidewalks, neighborhood parks within a
city and what Jacobs refers to as the four generators of diversity , Jacobs has developed theories
that can guide city planners, architects, urban designer and most ... Show more content on

coined and entered into the terminology of urban planning. She demonstrates the vitality and
benefits of busy sidewalks on the basis of the street life at her doorstep in Greenwich Village.
Jacobs depicts how a marvelous order for maintaining the safety of the streets is working under
the seeming disorder of the city. Her description of the sidewalk ballet that takes place every day

In the novel, Ron is the youngest amongst his five outstanding brothers. As the youngest son in

success. This is evident when Ron says I m the sixth in our family to go to Hogwarts. You could

well as the others, but if I do, it s no big deal, because they did it first (Rowling 67). Being the
youngest of five brothers is a predicament to Ron, because he faces the constant pressure of
living up to all of his brother s accomplishments. His position in the family has led to a lot of his
insecurities and self doubt. Unlike Ron, I did not come from a large family and for that reason, I
personally did not receive the same pressure and expectations that Ron faced. Without these
expectations, I did not struggle with issues of self esteem, whereas Ron often feels inadequate
about being in the shadow of his successful brothers, which resulted in problems with his self
confidence. The aspect of family in Ron s life and my own life has impacted our self esteems,

The Current Economic Environment Of Lean Manufacturing
The current economic environment we are in, shared with increasing guidelines has placed
manufacturers in the challenging position of having to reduce waste, improve processes, and
increase productivity. Although lean manufacturing can well enough be the answer, some
companies have found lean manufacturing implementation to be an ongoing battle. Which is not to
say, however, that there have not been some major success stories. There are many obstacles to lean
implementations.
Two Major Obstacles for Lean Manufacturing Implementation
One obstacle is the perception that the use of lean manufacturing solutions is, at best, nothing more
than a trend. In addition, at worst, a brief craze. It is often observed as nothing more than a
repackaging of fundamental industrial engineering principles dressed up in new clothes, and
flaunted in new terms to appeal to a new industry. Lean manufacturing is sometimes seen in many
industries as a collection of techniques, known to be effective in the auto industry, which some
people are now trying to impose on a completely different industry. This means that perceptions
have to be changed.
Another major obstacle is gaining management and employee buy in. For example, decreasing
batch size is easy to see and not hard to influence in most industries. However, in many industries,
altering batch size also involves reducing the size of the blend, which, in turn, runs into renewed
testing, and several layers of approval. There will, of

Modernism In Form Follows Function, By Wilk Christopher
In this essay I am going to talk about one theme of Modernist, looking at the different views of

The Modernist theme I had choose is Form Follows Function . Form follows purpose, use is a sense

The Principle Of Equity Within The World Of Doctrine, Not...
Equity is a source of law which is based on flexible principles to supplement the common law, and
thereby alleviating the harshness. Lord Scarman once described the principle of equity in National
Westminster Bank PLC v Morgan as a world of doctrine, not of neat and tidy rules which
emphasises its rigidity nature to provide its flexibility. As Alastair Hudson noted , many different
doctrines fit inside English equity which introduce a more systematic approach to the common law.
It is important to examine equity s historical development to recognize the root of how it was
formed and used, and how it still serves a purpose within the modern legal system.
When discussing the history of equity, it is imperative to go back to the 12th century where the
King and his courtiers would travel around the country to settle disputes and collect the citizen s
taxes. During this time, the King s Chancellor would advise the King and his Council on these
matters. Due to this, he became known as the King s conscience. Where the use of the common
law to settle a dispute proved to be unjustified, the Chancellor would provide a just remedy. In this
way, the King s common law became well founded, and the concept of equity was formed.
Common law suits were known to be inflexible, as the common law only provided one type of
remedy, damages, which was not always an adequate solution to every problem . Some litigants
grew dissatisfied with the system and petitioned to the King. However, all of

The Edible Woman By Margaret Atwood And Mrs. Dalloway Essay
There are several different types of Narration and narrator roles in narratives, with each having a
different effect upon the novel. However, each of these different narrator and narration types have
their own advantages and limitations in regards the narrative. Each role, ranging from first to third
person, has its own unique advantages, including the personal insight into a characters, which can
be found in first person, to the understanding of several different points of view, as seen in third
person, and so on. Each role contrasts the other, exploring the novel, and understanding the
characters, in different ways to produce a different effect within the novel. Some of these
contrasting, and differing elements, can be found in The Edible Woman by Margaret Atwood and
Mrs Dalloway, by Virginia Woolf, where there is shown a clear difference between one narration
style and another. These can range from first person and third person narrator, a shifting and
alternating narration, as can be seen in Atwood s The Edible Woman, to 3rd person omniscient
narrator, , and an indirect interior monologue narration style, as can be seen in Mrs Dalloway by
Woolf. Each text provides a different insight and perspective into a narrativeform, from narrator
roles to Narration type, that helps bring the story to life for the audience of the novel, and each has
its own limitations and advantages to do with telling the story.

How Can Anthropogenic Climate Change Affects Children
The social problem I chose to research is anthropogenic climate change, primarily focusing on
how it will effect children. The reason I chose this topic is because it s a great concern to me and
the future of our planet. It s almost unbelievable how large industries can be so neglectful to the
effects climatechange is having on Earth. I often think about how the generations of the future will
deal with the damage our generation and previous generations have caused to our atmosphere.
There is also the question if they will even be able to adapt, or recover from these extreme
changes. This problem needs to be addressed now rather than later. The longer we wait the more
damage is done to the atmosphere, which results in even greater hardship for future generations.

In other words, less than 1% of the people who die are brain dead. A person who is brain dead
means he/she has an irreversible damage in the brain, causing the brain to lose its functions. There
are two definitions of death in Australia. One of them refers to brain death, and the other is
defined as, Irreversible cessation of circulation of the blood (cardiac death the heart stops forever) .
Before a heart may be taken from an organ donor, his/her family would have to give consent
under very short circumstances. This is a very hard decision for families to make because many
people fantasize about brain dead people coming back to life again. Many people have these
thoughts, because a person who is brain dead may seem perfectly normal while lying on the

If the donor s family agrees to donate his/her heart, a transplant may be performed within a few

Rejections of the heart may lead to symptoms like dizziness, vomiting, chest pain, shortness of

Essay On Sacred Heart Vs Notre Dame Hockey Game
On Thursday, October 19, I attended the Sacred Heart versus Notre Dame hockey game. I have
previously attended hockey games at Compton Family Ice Arena both in and out of the student

students were still away for fall break. The lack of students created a much different atmosphere
especially because at Notre Dame Hockey games the crowd tends to feed off the excitement of

The first was the constant matchup graphic on the ribbon board as I found the animation kind of
distracting throughout the game. It would be helpful if the players on the ice were shown with
their statistics similar to the way it is done at both men s and women s basketball games,
however, I also understand that may be unrealistic in hockey since there are such quick line
changes. Another possible area of improvement is the intro video. It felt very generic compared
to the ones that I m used to seeing for Notre Dame sports. Unlike this year s intro videos at
volleyball (which features team expectations matched with player highlights) and football (which
focuses on the excellence and tradition of the program), the only words in the hockey intro video
were what a hit and takes a shot which seem like placeholders for something more. Since this
team did reach the Frozen Four last year, I expected the intro video to build on last year s
excellence or how they succeeded despite having one of the lowest seeds in the tournament.
Another big aspect of in game entertainment at hockey is the intermissions. At this game, the first
intermission was filled by a youth hockey league playing. I really enjoyed watching all the little
kids play hockey. It involved the community and created positive memories for the kids and their
parents. The second intermission was used for the Slap Shot contest. The Slap Shot contest is

The outer solar atmosphere, the corona, is created by magnetic fields. When the fields close, the
confined solar atmosphere can suddenly violently release bubbles of gas and magnetic fields. A
coronal mass ejection can contain a billion tons of matter that can move at millions of miles per
hour (Solar). Solar energetic particles are released by shocks at the front of Coronal mass ejections
and solar flares. When a coronal mass ejection flows through the solar wind, high velocity solar
energetic particles are produced. They are charged so they follow the magnetic lines between the
Sun and Earth (Solar). Flow of charged particles called solar wind (Bergman). Space is filled
with magnetic fields which controls the solar winds (Bergman). High speed solar winds flow
through coronal holes that can form anywhere on the sun and usually only affect the Earth when
they are near the solar equator. The winds range from 800,000 to 5 million miles per hour,

Energy:
The Shard uses a CHP (combined heat and power) plant, which provides 1.131MW of electricity
and 1.199MW of hot water at high efficiency to the surrounding area. The CHP system utilises
waste heat for heating and hot water. This system reduces carbon emissions and also contributes to
low carbon footprint of building. The Shards consumption will be more than 30% less than other
comparable buildings. There are significant cost savings for CHP versus separate purchase of
electricity and gas from national grid. This is an imperative factor, as for running such a large and
dominant building in the City of London it is essential that costs are kept to minimum to avoid
corruption. It is also recognisably a more healthy and efficient option for the environment.

The need for air conditioning in the Shard to eliminate an excessively heated environment from
solar energy is removed by computer controlled blinds. As extra white glass is used the G value is
0.55, meaning 55% of the solar heat gets transmitted inside the building. This isn t appropriate for
the public as they ll suffer from the heat. However, with the blinds down there is 5% light
transmittance and thus the G value drops to only 0.12, which reduces solar

Ethical Issues Essay
Ethical Issues
Ethical issues are moral challenges facing the health care profession (Stanhope Lancaster, 2012, p.
127). Ethical issues is a major concern in the healthcare field because healthcare providers observe
ethical issues every day and have to make ethical decisions. Advance directives are written
documents that addressed an individual s medical care preferences. These documents usually take
effect when patients no longer can make informed health care decisions for themselves. While these
documents are helpful to loved ones and health care providers, there are a number of ethical
considerations that can make the development and execution of advance directives difficult (Llama,
2014). This author is a geriatric nurse that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

a.While both search results produced similarities, there were some notable differences. For
instance, Google seemed to offer more personalized and filtered search result than DuckDuckGo. In
other words, the results were tailored towards aspects about myself such as my location and typical
Internet habits. For example, Google generated some of its first results as links to the websites of
the local CrossFit gyms in State College. DuckDuckGo offered locations of gyms that were not
remotely close to my current location, such as Toronto, Oklahoma and New York. Additionally, the

How Does Emily Bronte Use The Character Of Catherine Earnshaw
Bronte utilizes multiple female characters in the novel to expose the woman at that time. One
such character is Catherine Earnshaw. At the the beginning Catherine is a young girl, living with
her parents, brother Hindley, and Heathcliff. Through time she becomes close to Heathcliff . Her
pain was to leave him or keep her separate from him. She chooses to marry someone from the
upper class and ignores her heart which completely tilts to Heathcliff. She preferred money and
social statue over her mortal happiness. She want someone who promotes her not to degrade her.
Bronte uses the character of Catherine to reflect negative women in that period which their

she was a naive one throughout the novel, she attracts to Heathcliff who does not love her. Despite
many people like Edger, Catherine and Nelly warn her not to marry this person, she decides to
marry and elope with Heathcliff. When Catherine attempts to warn her that she is his bait, she
becomes angry and accuses Catherine of being jealous. After she realizes that Heathcliff has only
married her to seek revenge on Edger and Catherine, she decides to leave him. Isabella reflects the
free will of woman that is strong and courageous enough to face man and live without him and take
care of her son. Catherine Linton is the last of the female characters in Wuthering Heights . She is
the moderate female character that is exposed by Bronte as she stands between the positivity
and negativity of women. It is said that her anger was never furious; her love never fierce: it was
deep and tender. However, it must be acknowledged, she had faults to foil her gifts. A propensity
to be saucy was one; and a perverse will, that indulged children invariably acquire, whether they be
good tempered or cross.. ( Bronte 136). This shows that she has bad traits and also good

Film Blade Runner Essay
Film Blade Runner
Director Ridley Scott s Blade Runner is a film adaptation of the book: Do androids dream of
electric sheep. The film is about a man in the division of the police that involves the retirement of
NEXUS 6 Replicants; this division is called the Blade Runner division.
The film begins with a view in long shot of Los Angeles in 2019 as a dystopia. In the middle of
the dark and crowded city, under the blackened sky and blanket upon blanket of rain, are several
towers repetitively spewing flames into the dark beyond making the country made of city seem
like hell at night. During the longshot there are three occasional shots of a close up eye belonging

The lighting is very dim and dark, which is a film genre almost, this genre is called film noire,
meaning black film saying that the film is dark. The darkness of the scenery highlights the
masses of smoke that is in the air, from Holden smoking, the flying cars exhaust and the dense
pollution of the ever burning power stations. The blades of the fan on the ceiling of Holden s
smoky, dim lit office constantly remind you of the films name, Blade Runner as the blades spin
from the buildings interior. The ease of the office wall breaking as the effect of Leon, a NEXUS 6
replicant, firing a gun at Holden and violently pushing him through the wall shows how brittle and
poorly built the future is shown to be.
This, the second, scene introduces us to the main character, a former recruit of the Blade Runner
division and he is found waiting behind an fleet of people bearing umbrellas with neon lit
handles as a protection from the evil darkness of the merciless city, to be seated at a noodle bar.
As he is waiting we, the viewers, can see a multitude of blimps plastered with advertisements
persuading the remaining inhabitants of Earth to vacate to a different planet. We can also see
whole building faces covered with advertisements showing upper class women eating foods and the
lower classed impoverished civilization have to watch these adverts and feel like

Living In A Small Town Essay
Living in a Small Town in a Big City
Everyone has a different opinion when they have to choose between live in a small town or a big
city. Some people think that living in a small town is peaceful because they feel much closer to the
nature, while the others choose to live in a big city because of its entertainment such as cinemas,
shopping centers, club, and concerts. Also, there are several similarities between small town and a
big city which is history, mission, vision, values, and goals to make their place become much
better. However, most people still do not know how to decide whether they want to live in a small
town or a big city and one of the ways to solve this is to compare them at several points.
Living in a big city can be very different from a small town. Since there are a lot of opportunities
to find a job in a big city, most people have their own variety of occupations. In the morning,
people are wake up and get ready to work. There are several occupations that most people in a big
city have, such as businessman, architect, entrepreneur and etc. Most of them are typically a hard
worker because sometimes they do overtime work even on the weekend. They usually ... Show

A small town is known by their peacefulness and by their nature sounds of animals in the
morning or during the night. Different from a small town, a big city is noisier because they have
a lot of variety of machine sounds such as sirens, honks, vehicles, and people. Those kind of
sounds will block out the natural noises that people would hear in a small town. It is not only the
noise that is very different from both of them but also the air pollution. A small town has more fresh
air and it means people in a small town are breathing healthier air than people in a big city. Unlike
small town, in a big city, they have a lot of air pollution from cars, factories, cigarette smoke, and
smokestacks which are not good for

Youth Rebelliion In The 1950s Essay
History Essay By Ben Roberson
During the 1950 s there was significant social change taking place in America. Young people
were dissatisfied with certain conservative aspects of society and their conduct reflected this.
They embraced the rock and roll culture, the new style of music and also the new styles of
dancing and dress that were associated with it shocked the older more conservative people.
Young people were also quick to protest against the controversial issues of the 1950 s. Civil
Rights, the Vietnam War and general politics provided fuel for an already blazing fire. Mass
production meant cheaper motorcycles and cars, providing the young people with freedom that was
previously not with in their reach. A barrier formed between... Show more content on

Around this time young people began to break away from their parents. Prior to this each
generation had grown up treating their parents with the utmost respect and modelling their
behaviour and views on their parents. This change was made easier by the freedom brought
about by access to a car, which lead to increased independence. After the war there was huge
economic growth in America, this coupled with mass production of automobiles made transport
relatively cheap most families were able to afford a car. The children of these families were
often allowed to take out the family car, granting them more freedom to go out with friends and
more privacy for couples. This new show of independence was also evident in the young people s
reaction to social issues that were taking place. Many of the young war veterans returning from the
Second World War and the Korean Warfound it very hard to fit back into society. Many of these
veterans got heavily into both drug taking and social protest. However it wasn t only the youth
returning from war who were dissatisfied with the governments reaction to a number of issues that
young people felt very passionate about, namely civil rights and the onset of the Vietnam War.
Inspired by the successes of some of the more prominent black leaders such as Dr. Martin Luther
King, idealists were encouraged to believe that a

The Causes Of Antisocial Personality Disorder
Living among us are people with no conscience, no emotions, and no conceptions of love.
Welcome to the chilling world of the sociopath. (Stout, 2005) Antisocial personality disorder
(APD), also known as dissocial personality disorder, is identification appropriate for individuals
who behave with no regard for the rights, safety or feelings of others. A personality disorderis a
persistent pattern of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that is considerably different from what is
considered normal within the person s own culture. Professionals group personality disordersin
clusters based on a commonality of symptoms. Antisocial personality disorderis found on Cluster
B, which includes personality disorders characterized by symptoms of dramatic or erratic
behaviors (Gray, 2011). Antisocial personality disorder is more common in males (about 3
percent of the US population) than females (about 1 percent of the US population) in the general
population. APD is highly associated with low financial status and among those living in urban
areas. People with the disorder are presumably living in poverty, suffering from a coexisting
substance abuse disorder, or racking up extensive criminal records (Grohol, 2010). As with
generally all personality disorders, a person must be at least 18 years of age before they can be
diagnosed properly with APD. Antisocial personality disorder symptoms will peak during late
teenage years and early 20s. The symptoms typically decrease in its

Feudal Society Structure
6. Q: What were the basic underlining structures what are found in each feudal society and what
purpose did these structures serve?
A: The fiefs under feudalism all contained basic structures that were essential in maintaining a fully
sustainable community. Some basic structures include water mills, houses, barns, and workshops,
all self explanatory. The three most important structures were the church, the manor, and a three
field crop rotation complex. The manor was considered the brain of the fief, which provided shelter
to the vassals and his staff, as well as a place for royal celebrations such as feasts. The church as a

This was called Feudal Justice , and gave nobles the ability to create court cases to settle disputes
between the defendants and the accused. These courts usually ended with the accused having to
pay a fine, which brought considerable income to the nobles throne, however, ordeal by God and
trial by combat were considered equally as effective in proving innocence. This system of justice
brought the same political power of the feudal system itself, knights could not accuse the king, but
peasants could call other peasants to be accused. Under this system, the daily lives of peasants
could be brought into question, however, both the accused and the accuser would receive the same
treatment, and if the accused was not found guilty, the accuser would receive the punishment. This
created a system that discouraged the use of judicial courts for personal gain, and disallowed the
ability to move higher in terms of social status( Feudal

Importance Of Qualitative Research
1. Session: Introduction to Qualitative Research in Psychology
Qualitative research not only refers to the techniques used to collect and analyse certain data but
also to a field of research in itself. The different philosophical positions have in turn informed the
varied approaches to qualitative research.
As an exploratory type of research, it seeks to gather the in depth understanding of the behaviour
of a sample group. The personal opinion, values and experiences of them. It affords the
opportunity to observe the participants behaviour as well as allowing the researcher to delve into
the participants beliefs and really probe to obtain a greater detailed understanding of the issue.
Qualitative research techniques are flexible and normally conducted in naturalistic settings using
semi structured data collection methods as this accommodates the deviation to obtain that greater
depth of answer. There are different types of analysis used for example, Interpretive
Phenomenological Analysis, grounded theory, narrative, thematic and pattern based discourse
analysis.
Unlike quantitative research that use numbers as data and statistics, qualitative methods rely on
words and meaning. It seeks to understand the problem rather than quantifying it placing more
emphasis on subjectivity rather than objectivity.
Qualitative methods tend to use smaller sample sizes due to the personal form of research putting
the persons perspective at the centre of the work. The results are

The Human Genome Discoveries (Cox, 2009), were a very significant breakthrough in healthcare. In 2000, scientists in with the International Human Genome Project released a rough draft of the human genome to the public (Cox, 2009) and the final high quality version in 2003 (National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI), 2011) occurred, opening the doors to whole new possibilities in medicine, with regards to genetics and gene therapy. The DNAsequence of the entire human genome was pieced together after a greatly anticipated 13 years, which allowed scientists and biological researchers to establish the genetic make up of proteins, which essentially make up the human body. The Human Genome Project (HGP) sequenced only euchromatic regions of the genome, which make up about 90% of the genome (En.wikipedia.org, 2016), which consists of, more or less, a majority of the DNA sequences in humans. Lord Capulet and Lord Montague may contain mindsets strictly based off the feud between them. Nevertheless, as elders, they display unawareness of the troubles the rivalry has brought to their peers as well as the disturbance it precipitates for thoughts of impartiality from youths. • 9. What Is The Ethical Code Of Ethics Paran, Kate Gabrielle Resurreccion, Diandra Mae Rosales, Lyka INTRODUCTION Ethics is basically a common thing that the world expects for an individual to possess. This is concerned solely with moral values and principles of individuals. According to an American Judge, Potter Stewart Ethics is knowing the difference between what you have a right to do and what is right to do. This states that every individual differs from perceptions of their minds about what you have a right to do and what is the right thing to do. What you have a right to do indicate the individual s ability to do what is legal, but this doesn t necessarily mean it is the right thing to do. Proposal On Foster Care Providing a child with an outstanding support system is a vital key in creating an environment in which he or she can learn how to grow as a child, and as a human being. Here at American Airlines we strive to provide children with the absolute highest of quality in foster care. We are pleased to create a proposal that, we believe, will help the Dallas foster caresystem improve on some of their current issues. The proposal aims to not only construct and provide local events to raise awareness about these issues, but to also host fundraisers geared towards improving the living conditions of foster children. One of these issues is the overcrowding of current foster homes in the Dallas metroplex area. l Figure 1 shows foster home capacity needs by county: red meaning an under supply of foster homes, and blue meaning an oversupply of foster homes. From figure 1, we can see that Dallas County is facing a deficit (undersupplied) of foster homes available to foster children. We can also see from Figure 1 that the surrounding areas of Dallas, such as: Denton county, Collin county, Kaufman county, and Rockwall county all have an oversupply of foster homes. This means that children from Dallas county have no other choice but to move to foster homes outside of Dallas county. This results in moving away from friends and family, which can be traumatizing to a child. We feel that this is one of the primary problems we aim to fix in the Dallas foster care system. • 14. Notes on Significant Religious Events and People in History The Council of Trent was fairly important in its role of stratifying the Christian Church. The council occurred over a period of nearly 20 years in Italy and was initiated by the Roman Catholic Church. There were a number of points of contention that the council was able to satisfy with other components of Christianity, namely those pertaining to the Protestant movement that was still relatively new at the time. Essentially, the council was able to formalize proceedings and practices for several sacraments and other conceptions of Christianity including notions of original sin and the Eucharist. The Hanseatic League occurred approximately between the 13th and the 17th centuries along the coastline of the Northern part of Europe. What the league was initially formed for was to secure trade for merchants who traveled outside of their native cities. It involved cities in various parts of Germany and Holland, among other nations. Trade guilds and those for merchants helped to develop many of the measures that were implemented by the guild in attempts to protect the economic interests of European cities when their merchants traveled abroad to inherently import and export goods. • 16. Cause Of The English Revolution In 17th century, series of rebellions and civil wars occurred, known famously as the English Revolution. These events occurred primarily as the result of a power struggle between Parliament and the king. The revolutions served to decide how the power would be distributed in the English government. The events that led up to the English Revolution began largely after the death of Queen Elizabeth I, marking the end of the Tudor dynasty in 1603. James I was crowned king, and the Stuart dynasty began. James, unlike his predecessor, believed in divine right of kings, a concept that said kings were chosen for the position by God and were all powerful. This is a concept opposite to that of popular sovereignty, in which the power of governmentwas given and sustained by the people, rather than god. This created a rift... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dissension among Parliament and the people of England was increased by the fact that James was strongly devoted to the Church of England, which displeased the Puritans, who wished to make the church more Protestant. Because the lower house of Parliament was composed primarily of Puritans, the new king was not popular with most of the members of Parliament. At one point, Parliament passed a law stating that citizens could not be taxed without Parliament s permission, which limited the king s power. James, who believed in the divine right of kings, was displeased by this. He believed that, as a man chosen by god to be a supreme ruler, he should not follow laws, and did not believe in the concept of constitutionalism. Constitutionalism is a concept that says all rulers must obey laws, regardless of standing. Prophets To many Christians the Prophets are seen as being predictors of the Messiah, but it can be argued that one can take any tidbit of information from a source (not just the bible) and use it, whether within context or out of context, to support one s argument. In my opinion, as far as the prophets are concerned, just because the prophets seem to predict the coming of the Messiah because of the parallels that have been drawn between the books of the prophets and the New Testament does not necessarily mean that they were able to predict the future it means that the New Testament authors such as Matthew had either heard or could refer back to the writings of the Old Testamentprophets such as Isaiah, Micah, and Hosea. Chapter two of Hosea describes a divorce which seems to represent the end of the covenant between God and the Northern Kingdom a symbolic act where by the divorce of Hosea from Gamer for infidelity represents God s rejection of the Northern Kingdom. In typical fashion, though, Hosea ends this prophecy with the declaration that God will one day renew the covenant and will take back Israel. Another example of the allegory in Hosea is in chapter three when Hosea seeks out Gomer again. Either she sold herself into slavery because of debt or she is with someone who demands money in order to give her up because Hosea has to buy her back. With limited service experience and minimal justice work, I have a different understanding of what justice is and how I can do it as a professional. The service work that I have done while at Creighton happened during my freshman year. My idea of justicecomes from how I was raised, some personal experience, and one of the readings that was discussed in class. My experience with service while at Creighton started and ended my freshman year with the Freshman Leadership Program. Because this service experience was three years ago I do not remember all of the details and conversations that I had while doing this service, following is what I remember of my service experiences. One of the service sites that I went to through this program was the South Omaha Boys and Girls Club. At the club the members of the program were asked to play with the kids, helped the children make crafts, and teach kids from 12 to 14 years of age about bullying. When I think about how I was feeling about this service I did not really understand how I was helping out the organization or how this was really considered service. I was just walking around talking to kids who could care less if I was there or not. • 21. Vehicular Ad Hoc Network Lab Report The principle consists of initialising the minimum (Trmin) and maximum transmission (Trmax) rate. Based on the IEEE802.11p, all mobiles involved in the Vehicular Ad hoc Network (VANET) are synchronised and will switch from Service Channel (SCH) to Control Channel (CCH) every sync period as depicted in Fig.1. A sync period is 100 ms which correspond to a switching frequency of 10 Hz. Because CAMs/BSMs and DENMs are broadcasted and exchanged during the CCH time interval, therefore, in the proposed algorithm, Trmax = 10 and Trmin= 1. If all nodes are synchronized to transmit at specific period of time (CCH interval); if the channel bandwidth is large enough, then each node will receive a message copy of its neighbours. This is the main... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In our model, the choice of minimum CBR (CBRMin) is any value smaller than CBRMax while the average CBR (CBRAv) is comprised between the minimum and the maximum. The transmission delay (T0) is initialised at one second and the rate or frequency is initialised at 10 Hz. The algorithm begins at full rate when the CBR is less than CBRMin. When the CBR becomes greater than the CBRMin and less than the CBRMax, the rate is adjusted as a function of T0, О» and О±. When the CBR becomes greater than CBRMax, the rate is decreased by increasing T0 until the CBRAv is achieved and T0 is equal to 1 or less. In general, the idea consists of computing the differential CBR (О», О»1), the transmission delay T0 as well as the coefficient О± to adjust the broadcasting delay as a function of a preset CBRMax. The IDBSMA concept is build upon the DBSMA while taking into consideration the preset CBRMax. For clarification, the flow diagram of the proposed algorithm is depicted in Fig.2. The proposed IDBSMA algorithm was implemented in Matlab and several simulations performed to assess and evaluate the effectiveness of the IDBSMA against the DBSMA. Essay On Urban Planning By Jane Jacobs JANE JACOBS CITY STREETS AND THE MIX OF USES Urban planning is an important aspect of city life, especially in light of today s dynamic economy and environment. With increasing levels of crime, pollution, and environmental degradation, many cities are looking for new solutions to solve these. Large influences on the ideas that are shaping urban planning today come from urban theorist, Jane Jacobs. Jacobs challenged the way urban planners, architects, urban designer and sociologist thought about cities. In order to solve the kind of problem which cities pose , Jacobs promotes the idea of the use of sidewalks includes three majors. It is about city sidewalk safety and sidewalk contacts. Jacobs wrote that there must be eyes upon the street, eyes belonging to those we might call the natural proprietors of the street. The Current Economic Environment Of Lean Manufacturing The current economic environment we are in, shared with increasing guidelines has placed manufacturers in the challenging position of having to reduce waste, improve processes, and increase productivity. Although lean manufacturing can well enough be the answer, some companies have found lean manufacturing implementation to be an ongoing battle. Which is not to say, however, that there have not been some major success stories. There are many obstacles to lean implementations. Two Major Obstacles for Lean Manufacturing Implementation One obstacle is the perception that the use of lean manufacturing solutions is, at best, nothing more than a trend. In addition, at worst, a brief craze. It is often observed as nothing more than a repackaging of fundamental industrial engineering principles dressed up in new clothes, and flaunted in new terms to appeal to a new industry. Lean manufacturing is sometimes seen in many industries as a collection of techniques, known to be effective in the auto industry, which some people are now trying to impose on a completely different industry. This means that perceptions have to be changed. Another major obstacle is gaining management and employee buy in. For example, decreasing batch size is easy to see and not hard to influence in most industries. However, in many industries, altering batch size also involves reducing the size of the blend, which, in turn, runs into renewed testing, and several layers of approval. There will, of ... • 28. The Principle Of Equity Within The World Of Doctrine, Not... Equity is a source of law which is based on flexible principles to supplement the common law, and thereby alleviating the harshness. Lord Scarman once described the principle of equity in National Westminster Bank PLC v Morgan as a world of doctrine, not of neat and tidy rules which emphasises its rigidity nature to provide its flexibility. As Alastair Hudson noted , many different doctrines fit inside English equity which introduce a more systematic approach to the common law. It is important to examine equity s historical development to recognize the root of how it was formed and used, and how it still serves a purpose within the modern legal system. When discussing the history of equity, it is imperative to go back to the 12th century where the King and his courtiers would travel around the country to settle disputes and collect the citizen s taxes. During this time, the King s Chancellor would advise the King and his Council on these matters. Due to this, he became known as the King s conscience. Where the use of the common law to settle a dispute proved to be unjustified, the Chancellor would provide a just remedy. In this way, the King s common law became well founded, and the concept of equity was formed. Common law suits were known to be inflexible, as the common law only provided one type of remedy, damages, which was not always an adequate solution to every problem . Some litigants grew dissatisfied with the system and petitioned to the King. However, all of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 40. Building Environment And Construction Environment Design... Ivan S M Hewitt. Introduction to Building Environment and Construction Environment Design Audit PART A. BUIL1166. Luke Olsen. Energy: The Shard uses a CHP (combined heat and power) plant, which provides 1.131MW of electricity and 1.199MW of hot water at high efficiency to the surrounding area. The CHP system utilises waste heat for heating and hot water. This system reduces carbon emissions and also contributes to low carbon footprint of building. The Shards consumption will be more than 30% less than other comparable buildings. There are significant cost savings for CHP versus separate purchase of electricity and gas from national grid. This is an imperative factor, as for running such a large and dominant building in the City of London it is essential that costs are kept to minimum to avoid corruption. It is also recognisably a more healthy and efficient option for the environment. (Image: Diagram of Power Plant Combined Heat and Power Efficiency, Ref: http://www.in.gov/oed /2414.htm) The need for air conditioning in the Shard to eliminate an excessively heated environment from solar energy is removed by computer controlled blinds. As extra white glass is used the G value is 0.55, meaning 55% of the solar heat gets transmitted inside the building. This isn t appropriate for the public as they ll suffer from the heat. However, with the blinds down there is 5% light transmittance and thus the G value drops to only 0.12, which reduces solar ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 51. Importance Of Qualitative Research 1. Session: Introduction to Qualitative Research in Psychology Qualitative research not only refers to the techniques used to collect and analyse certain data but also to a field of research in itself. The different philosophical positions have in turn informed the varied approaches to qualitative research. As an exploratory type of research, it seeks to gather the in depth understanding of the behaviour of a sample group. The personal opinion, values and experiences of them. It affords the opportunity to observe the participants behaviour as well as allowing the researcher to delve into the participants beliefs and really probe to obtain a greater detailed understanding of the issue. Qualitative research techniques are flexible and normally conducted in naturalistic settings using semi structured data collection methods as this accommodates the deviation to obtain that greater depth of answer. There are different types of analysis used for example, Interpretive Phenomenological Analysis, grounded theory, narrative, thematic and pattern based discourse analysis. Unlike quantitative research that use numbers as data and statistics, qualitative methods rely on words and meaning. It seeks to understand the problem rather than quantifying it placing more emphasis on subjectivity rather than objectivity.
