Katrina Lake
The founder Katrina Lake created Stitch Fix
to blend the human element of personal
styling with high-quality clothing and the
algorithms.
She shipped the first Stitch Fix order out of
her Cambridge apartment in 2011 while
attending Harvard.

good idea” at first.
“An inventory nightmare.” since she
wanted to own all the inventory to gain
more insight about each item and turn
it into structured data.

Eric Colson, the chief algorithms officer of
Stitch Fix, came from Netflix in August
2012. Before that he was an adviser of them.

Stitch Fix sold $730 million worth of
clothing in 2016 and $977 million worth in
2017. One hundred percent of their revenue
results directly from recommendations.
However, on August 2021, there are news
reported that many employees are
departing, while those who remain fear their
jobs are gradually being replaced by an
algorithm.
