Android is a software stack for mobile devices that includes an operating system, middleware and key applications. It was developed by Android Inc, which was later acquired by Google. The first commercial version was released in 2008. Android has seen regular updates and new versions that are named after desserts like Cupcake, Donut, Eclair, etc. It is an open source platform that can be adapted to different hardware and supports many applications and features to enhance the mobile experience.

Android Inc. was founded in Palo Alto of California,
U.S. by Andy Rubin, Rich miner, Nick sears and Chris
White in October 2003.
 Later Android Inc. was bought by Google in 2005.
 On the 5th of November 2007 the Open Handset
Alliance and develop open standard for mobile devices.

