The document discusses how the author conveyed brand identity and consistency across three promotional pieces - a teaser trailer, poster, and magazine - for a film. The main character, who is a well-known actor, is the unique selling point and is prominently featured in the trailer, poster, and magazine cover. Font choices and visual imagery were selected to represent the thriller genre in the trailer and poster while appealing more broadly for the magazine. The Paramount Pictures logo was included to link the pieces under the same brand identity.
This is my evaluation for question 2 of my A2 Media coursework. The question was: How effective is the combination of you main product (film trailer) and your two ancillary tasks (film poster + film magazine cover).

1. -497840570230I tried to convey a brand identity and consistency across my teaser trailer, poster and magazine.
42164064135
-3455035786130
2905125474345
My 3 pieces are a promotional package, after researching the marketing process of a film and distribution companies I found that they all play a vital role in making a film successful and therefore it is important to show brand identity and consistency across all of them.
My unique selling point (the main character being a well know actor) is a key focus on all three of my products, in the trailer and the poster he is shown in character and is established clearly in my teaser through close ups and titles, in my poster, the close up of his face allows you to see that clearly the poster is linked to the teaser. For my magazine front cover, I made my USP the main focus again however as himself as an actor rather than in character, I did this to keep the continuity through the poster, magazine and teaser trailer but also give the audience a more personal insight into the actor.
The font I chose to use for the title in the teaser trailer I also chose to use in the poster. I did this so that the audience recognise that they are promoting the same film and the font style I chose is very unique to it is clearly distinguished from the rest. I chose this font because it conveys the thriller genre as it is quite eerie and dark and quite sinister. The visual imagery of my poster presents the genre of my teaser trailer along with my teaser trailer. I have conveyed the thriller genre in the poster through the colour scheme of red as this is key to show a thriller as it connotes danger and violence. Also by having the image quite dark and eerie like my trailer shots shows the thriller genre.
I chose not to use the same font in the magazine as I chose to have my magazine as a ‘national film magazine’ therefore I felt I couldn’t input a title that conveys a specific genre as then it wouldn’t appeal to my magazine target audience. I chose a bold, eye catching font for my magazine so that cover lines are clear and easy to read, I also had all my text in capital letters because I found this a very popular convention of film magazines to promote the contents of the magazine clearly.
I have conveyed brand identity through the use of having the paramount pictures logo at the beginning of my trailer and having it in the bottom corner of my poster.
