Nowadays people feel more comfortable to
use Android phone for their regular day-to-day activities.
Besides, it creates an easy access to achieve any goal in a
tight schedule. Along that, affordable smart-phone
technologies are introducing newer communication
possibilities that were not imaginable a few years back.
Considering the impact of this Android technology on
the students, we have designed and constructed an
Android application named ‘IUB - SECS’. The objective
was to build an effective application for students and
faculty members of Independent University, Bangladesh
to accomplish specific educational goals and duties by
using an Android application. By using this application,
students can find course information, lecture notes,
faculty information, research information and updated
results from outside the campus. On the other hand,
faculty members can use it for online attendance,
updating course materials, lecture notes and information
related to the course and university. The application will
provide users the opportunity to create a database, where
profile of faculty members and students can be stored
and through it students can directly contact with the
faculty members. The usability and effectiveness of this
application have been evaluated based on five different
users. The practical result shows that the outcome of this
application is very promising

Investigating a theoretical framework for e-learning technology acceptance IJECEIAES
E-learning has gained recognition and fame in delivering and distributing educational resources, and the same has become possible with the occurrence of Internet and Web technologies. The research seeks to determine the factors that influence students' acceptance of E-learning and to find out the way these factors determine the students' intention to employ E-learning. A theoretical framework was developed based on the technology acceptance model (TAM). To obtain information from the 270 university students who utilized the E-learning system, a questionnaire was formulated. The results revealed that “social influence, perceived enjoyment, self-efficacy, perceived usefulness, and perceived ease of use” are the strongest and most important predictors in the intention of and students towards E-learning systems. The outcomes offer practical implications for practitioners, lawmakers, and developers in effective E-learning systems implementation to improve ongoing interests and activities of university students in a virtual E-learning atmosphere, valuable recommendations for E-learning practices are given by the research findings, and these may turn out to be as guidelines for the efficient design of E-learning systems.

Mobile Cloud Computing: Academic Services for Palestinian Higher Education In...IJRES Journal
Recently, Many Palestinian higher education institutions had a successful experience in utilizing e-Services and e-learning. Most of University services are currently applied as an electronic application web. Services such as lecture schedule, exams schedule, viewing the academic information, grades report, library services, Email services, eLearning services, News and Announcements, but these services are only supported by web based applications or desktop application which restrict the access of the users using computers or laptops. Users need to access the University services anytime and anywhere as mobile services, so in this paper we present a system called Mobile Cloud Computing Academic Services at Palestinian Higher Education Institutions (MCCAS) which is a mobile application to facilities access. MCCAS serve the students and the lecturers of Palestinian higher education institutions. According to a study we have done, there is a strong evidence on the readiness of academic staff and students to accept and use Academic Services on Mobile in their education environment. Also most institutions of higher education in Palestine have a suitable infrastructure, as wireless network or Wi-Fi. The study shown that students had an adequate knowledge and awareness to use technology in their education environment. Furthermore, this will support the utilization of technology in Palestinian higher education institutions. Agile methodology was adapted to develop MCCAS application. It incorporates the SDLC phases starting from the Planning, analysis, design, implementation, test and evaluation up to the Maintenance phase in each iteration. The evaluation was conducted on 220 students and 51 person from the academic staff at 8 universities from Gaza strip and west Bank, to determine users’ perception on MCCAS to measure the usability, ease of use, satisfaction. Also the results showed that MCCAS success in helping the users doing their transactions successfully and accurately any time anywhere. It is hoped that the result of this study will encourage the universities to engage MCCAS in their services. The system is evaluated by using SPSS T-independent test, Cronbach alpha and average method, the system's acceptance was 90.05%.

EVALUATING THE INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL USABILITY ATTRIBUTES OF E-LEARNING WEBSI...acijjournal
ABSTRACT
Web usability is important for users who depend on the websites they use, such as online distance education students. Accordingly, universities and educational websites need to determine the types of usability problems that occur on their websites. However, far too little attention has been paid to providing mdetailed information regarding the types of specific usability problems that occur on e-learning websites in general and on those in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) in particular. The aim of this paper was to study and analyse the internal and external usability attributes of university websites that offer distance education courses in Saudi Arabia. Twelve universities in Saudi Arabia were considered—11 governmentaffiliateduniversities and one private university. The analysis of the data indicates the level of usability of distance education websites. Results reveal that in Saudi Arabia, distance education websites are reliable but violate basic usability guidelines. Furthermore, Saudi e-learning websites need to focus on the utility of
their home page search engines, provide more advanced search functionality, and provide sitemaps linked to every page on the websites.

This paper introduces the competency models for Operations Manager, User Interface
Designer, and Application Developers. It will serve as a guide for Information Systems students
to identify which among the three of the offered tracks would be most suited for them to pursue
according to their knowledge, skills, values and interests. The Holland’s RIASEC model and the
Values Search model of Bronwyn and Holt were utilized to determine the most dominant interest
and most dominant values of the industry computing experts. Survey assessment forms were sent
to IT Operations Manager, User Interface Designer, and Application Developer. Most dominant
values and interests of industry computing experts were determined as well as the knowledge
and skills which are mostly required by the industry in their particular area. Based on the result
of the survey, it shows that application developer and user interface designer have a closely
related values. Thus a second round of a survey would be needed to come up with the most
exclusive dominant values for the particular information systems specialization track.

Early admission systems saw people applying to universities by filling out applications forms and placing
them in suitable envelopes and sending them through the local postal agency. This was not considered to
be cost or time effective, and this method was also not efficient. This system however needed some
improvement due to the huge workload on administrators. So researchers and software developers
improved the system so that between 1999 and 2008 application and admission was done via the Internet.

The design of smart notification on android gadget for academic announcementTELKOMNIKA JOURNAL
In this article, we try to design the architecture of a smart notification system using an Android gadget for academic notification in college. Academic notification in colleges now utilizes bulletin boards and online media such as websites or social media. The problem faced is the high cost and resources required to deliver the academic notification. Another problem is whether the information delivered can be right to the students who need it. We proposed the architecture of a smart notification system that can reduce the cost, and the information delivered can be right on target to the students in need.
The prime objective of “Hostel out pass application” is to create a full-fledged Android application which could help
the students to fill an out pass form and get approval from the consent staff and coordinators at one click. The form will be
approved finally by the parent also thus making sure that the student’s activity is brought to parents notice. This helps in avoiding
the problems which occur when carried out manually. It improves the efficiency of the system. It is a customized user-friendly
application for hostel students which provides out pass information. This project offers the user to enter the data through simple and interactive manner.
Development of an Institutional App by adopting Android PlayIJMTST Journal
The whole information of any organization or an institution has to view in a hard file, or in website in the current circumstances. At the same time while searching any information it is very hard to access and takes a lot of time to search the particular website. Because of this, in order to overcome this problem a smart phone based application using Android can be used to make this process easier, secure and less error prone. The Android application is portable and can be easily installed and used on any mobile phones supporting Android OS. It also provides an interface which is easy to understand by the users and greatly helps in adapting to the use of this application. Android is an open source Linux based system developed by Google, and mostly aimed at mobile handsets and other portable devices. In short, we will be using them to complete our daily job. One computer program that falls into this category is the Android Application for College. A Study of The Interface Usability Issues of Mobile Learning Applications for...IJITE
A conceptual framework for measuring the usability characteristics of mobile learning (m-Learning)
application has been developed. Furthermore, a software prototype for smartphones to assess usability
issues of m-Learning applications has also been designed and implemented. This prototype has been
developed, using Java language and the Android Software Development Kit, based on the recommended
guidelines of the proposed conceptual framework. The usability of the proposed model was compared to a
generally available similar mobile application (based on the Blackboard) by conducting a questionnairebased survey at Western University. The two models were evaluated in terms of ease of use, user
satisfaction, attractiveness, and learnability. The results of the questionnaire showed that the participants
considered the user interface based on our proposed framework more user-friendly as compared to the
Blackboard-based user interface.

–Teaching English for the learners pursuing a
course in Engineering does not involve just the LSRW
skills. As it is a course in ESP, more specifically, EST
(English for Science and Technology), we as teachers are
more concerned of equipping them with the skills required
to face the challenges of their profession. The learners
have to face a cut-throat competition as the number of
learners puruing a course in Engineering is increasing year
by year and the companies rely on the professionals for an
extra edge of human skills. The selection process for a job
involves a screening test based on Group Discussions.
These discussions test the soft skills or human skills of the
candidates which are mainly based on their thinking
abilities. A problem is given to them and they are asked to
come to a common consensus as a team. The candidates
are required to employ creative thinking, divergent
thinking, logical reasoning, critical analysis etc. to
perform effectively. Till their graduation, the learners are
used to rote-learning from the (written) examination point
of view. The learners should be explained the importance
of thinking and brain storming at this stage. This paper is
based on the study undertaken by the researcher to
develop the thinking skills of the I year learners pursuing
a course in Engineering.
Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
