The Contamination Of The Gold Mining Company
Within the last couple of month there has been a mere excessive amount of water being polluted and
having toxic waste carelessly dumped. The Animas River of Colorado and flowing through Utah, New
Mexico, and high Northern Part of Arizona. But it s not just the that, there are plenty of lakes and
rivers that are being contaminated with toxic waste all the time. And people seem to be very closed
and okay with the fact their water sources are dirty.
Well as a Native American, some of these parts the river flows are pretty much sacred lands, and as
well as the water very vital. But due to the government and the EPA granting permission for the gold
mining company to dump their whatever waste into the river, now jeopardizing millions of people and
creatures that rely on the water source for survival. But after knowing they gave permission to do this,
the EPA had the nerves to go right around, apologize, but telling residents that live alongside the
flowing river to say the contamination was an accident . So as for this accidental spill, now people and
domesticated animals can t use this source for anything. As for cleaning up, it may take a couple years
until anything good can actually come out of it. The thousands of gallon waste that were dumped into
the water leaves a very thick orange yellow color covering the whole. And since the part of the river
flows through Northern Arizona, where a very pristine and sacred land for the Navajo Nation, it s
disturbing and a disgrace

The Namesake Reduction By Jhumpa Lahiri Essay
The Namesake Reduction By Jhumpa Lahiri Author Lahiri was born in Nilanjan Sudeshna on July 11,
1967. Her works mainly consists of novels, short stories and postcolonial. In her career, she has won
the Pulitzer Prize and the O. Henry Award and currently she works at Princeton University as a
creative writing professor. Significance of title A namesake is a something that is named after
something else. In Gogol s case, when he was just born and the doctors asked for his name, his parents
didn t know what to say because they were expecting as letter from Ashima s grandmother (which
didn t arrive). Thus, Ashoke named his son Gogol after the famous Russian writer Nikolai Gogol. This
may seem a bit random considering their Indian background, but we were told that when Ashoke was
young, he was in a train wreck, and in that train wreck the only item he was able to take was a copy of
the book The Overcoat by Nikolai Gogol. Because of this, Ashoke s first thought when it came to that
moment (when he had to choose a name for his son) was of that author. And thus, Gogol, the Indian
child with raised in America with a Russian name came to be. The book centers on Gogol trying to
find meaning and a way to express his life with a name that didn t mean much significance...until later.
Plot The start of the novel begins with the birth of Gogol in Cambridge,

Christine Darden
Before NASA s computers were made from metal and glass, they were made of courage and a
mathematician s brain. In the 1960 s humans sat down with a pencil and a piece of paper to calculate
problems. Christine Darden was one of them. She started at Winchester Avenue High School and then
went on to Virginia State College. Christine Darden started off high school at Winchester Avenue High
School. She soon transferred to Allen High School. Allen High is a Methodist high school in North
Carolina that has been around since the 19th century. In 1958, Darden graduated from Allen High

Essay about Informative Speech Scientists Einstein and...
Informative Speech Scientists Einstein and Heisenberg A. Introduction
My Speech is about the scientists who had the main influence on our current time and have shaped our
contemporary view of the world (Also called in Theology the Zeitgeist ).
I have chosen two of them who were in many ways just opposites. One is extremely famous and the
other is almost unknown except to specialists. The most famous is of course Albert Einstein. He has
significantly altered our view of the world with his Theory of Relativity.
The other one is not so well known, his works are commonly are associated with Einstein instead.
His name is Heisenberg. He worked mainly in Quantum Physics and was responsible for the
development of the Principle of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He would just learn what interested him. He spent hours with thought experiments like how would it
be to ride on a beam of light?
This sounds very foolish and naturally many people at that time thought the same. But it had a
concrete background in the scientific circles of the later 19th century. They had begun to measure the
speed of light and that is were it all started.
But to understand the issue we have to go back a bit to Issac Newtown who was revolutionary
scientist and discovered the law of gravity and the basics of the laws of physics. These were not
revolutionary, but revolutionary was the ability to get a mathematical grasp on it so they could
calculate.
Newtown made it possible to calculate the path of a bullet. Very important for the military.
He made an interesting observation. When you take a ball in your hand and throw it, the ball will have
a certain speed while it is moving away from you. But if you see somebody in a train throwing a ball
the speed of the ball adds up to the speed of the train. This does not seem to be the case if you are
yourself in the train throwing that ball. The ball moves away with the same speed as it did when you
performed the same thing on the earth.
The Speed of the ball is dependant on the viewpoint. Depends from where you measure it. This is a
kind of Newtownian Relativity. The speed of an observed incident like a flying ball depends on your
own speed.
If you are throwing

The Religions Of Shinto And Buddhism
The two religions that are located in Japan are Shinto and Buddhism. The two religions in japan are
extraordinarily unalike, while Shintoism believes that every living thing including rocks and sounds
contain some type of god in them, and Buddhism is concerned with the soul and afterlife that happens
in Buddhism. The religions differ very much from each other with little similarities. Buddhism and
Shintoism differ in one using shrines while the other has temples, the two both have religious
ceremonies, and one believes in the afterlife while the other does not. Shinto was originated in Japan
and formed in five hundred BCE. Shinto the way of the Kami is the religion of Japan that was first
used in the 6th century. Shinto has no founder, no sacred texts and no formalized system. Shinto is
uniquely Japanese, and believes in a god named Kami, the Shinto believe that Kami exists both as
spiritual beings but as well as in nature. The Kami is not like Western Religions, because the Kami is
not perceived as an all powerful god, but as a creative force. Buddhism was formed in the 5th century
B.C.E. in northern India. The religion was started by a man named Siddhartha Gautama, who is also
referred to as the Buddha or the enlightened one. The way this man started the religion was by training
his meditation for six years, and then once he felt he was close to full enlightenment he went into
meditation and vowed not to come out until he reached full enlightenment. Buddha then

Controversies In The History Of Medical Ethics
The history of Medical Ethics is the goal to try to do the right thing while also being able to achieve
the best outcome for the patient. As a result, official information, ideals, and rules for this practice,
while valuable, usually ignore consideration of the ethics and morals while completing medical
actions. Medical Ethics is addressing a value that occurs during interactions between providers and
patients. The principles address the issue of being fair, honest, and respectful to another human. Every
situation is different and requires a different ethical medical approach without any sort of bias. There
are many controversies in the practice of medicine, and that s where Medical Ethics are applied to

Dan Dolson s Argument
Part AAn argument is deductively valid if and only if its premises are true and always lead to a true
conclusion. (Dolson, HO #3, p.1) Premise A, If Abraham Lincoln was a friend of John Wilkes Booth,
then John Wilkes Booth would not kill Abraham Lincoln. is true. Premise B, Abraham Lincoln was
not friends with John Wilkes booth. is also true. But, the conclusion supposes that because John
Wilkes Booth and Lincoln were not friends, Booth would kill Abraham Lincoln. There are multiple
ways to show an argument is invalid. One test is Dan Dolson s Test for Validity (D.D.T.V.). To use
D.D.T.V. we must pretend the premises are true and find a way in which the conclusion can be false
(Dolson, #3, p.1). We have already stated the premises are true so there is no need to pretend, but the
test still works. We can easily imagine a situation in which Booth and Lincoln are not friends where
Booth does not kill Lincoln. Therefore, using the D.D.T.V. we can conclude that the argument is
invalid. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Lincoln and Booth argument is invalid because it uses an invalid form of argument called denying
the antecedent. Denying the antecedent is a misuse of the deductive argument form modus ponens. By
denying the antecedent, the argument produces a conclusion that is not always true, which directly
contradicts the definition of a valid deductive argument. An example of an argument using the modus
ponens form would

Butch Cassidy And The Sundance Kid
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid was released in New York on September 24, 1969. The film
received mostly negative reviews but became a success throughout the public. Eventually the National
Film Preservation Board deemed the film culturally and artistically significant and it s central themes
and heros resonated with the youth movement of the time. The importance of the movie is what it
came to represent to the people who saw it. While the director, George Roy Hill used the chase of the
main characters to add more action and fiction to the historical aspects of the film, the symbolic line
behind the pursuit of Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid by the superhuman posse is the timeless
struggle between rebellion and authority.

This mirrored the drastic action that was seen in rebellions like the civil rights movement and the
Vietnam protest. Butch and Sundance are the rebels that remind audiences that change comes to those
who do something.
The superhuman posse that tirelessly chases after Cassidy and Sundance represents the authorities.
When audiences went to go see this film, the younger generation viewed Joe Lafores, E. H. Harriman
and his superhuman posse as a symbol of the authority of another generation. Cassidy s statement that
Harriman probably inherited every penny he got resonated with the generation who questioned
inheritance and wealth as justification for authority (Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid n.p.). Even
though Goldman stated that he did not intend to make the movie an allegory to the counterculture of
the 1960s, many young people saw the superposse as a metaphor for the government/authority during
the years of anti war protests (Nixon n.p.). They identified with the youth and rebellion of Butch and
Sundance and they saw the superhuman posse as a bunch of faceless lawmen trying to put an end to
the reign of the bandit rebels. The individuals chasing Butch and Sundance are always there, always
on their tail, and always about to catch up with them, just like the authorities were always out to get
the protesters and activists. As stated in the comedic line who are those guys? the audience never
really knows who the superhuman posse is

Informative Speech On Conjoined Twins
Have any of you ever heard of conjoined twins? It an occurrence that results in twins being connected
by their body parts. It may be rare but has happened to many women in the world, and can happen to
any woman around the world. Today, I am going to be informing you about conjoined twins and
explaining to you some things you might not know about them. I chose this topic because it seemed
very interesting to me, and I wanted to learn more about it. I ve done research and selected multiple
sources to prepare for this speech.
First, I will be explaining what conjoined twins are. Second, I will be explaining the complications
and theories about conjoined twins. Finally, I will discuss treatment options and the chances of
survival for the twins.
First, I will explain what conjoined twins are. Conjoined twins occur when the bodies of twins
connect. Conjoined twins can be connected at many different body parts. They can be joined at the
head, chest, abdomen, pelvis, and more. Twins joined at the chest or abdomen is the most common,
making up 75 percent of all cases. Conjoined twins are mainly classified three ways while 75 percent
are joined at the chest or abdomen, 23 percent are joined at the hips, legs or gentiles, and two percent
are joined at the head. It is estimated that conjoined twins occur once in every ... Show more content

Conjoined twins must be delivered by cesarean section. This means that the surgeons must cut through
the wall of the mother s abdomen to deliver the babies. (Mayo Clinic Staff) Many conjoined twins
pass away shortly after birth, while some of the twins that survive cannot qualify for separation
surgery. Separation surgeries rely heavily on the surgical team. There are two main theories for why
conjoined twins happen. One theory suggests that the egg divides late or does not divide at all, and the
other is that the egg divides completely but joins back together. ( Conjoined

Krispy Kreme also rolled into the price the costs of closing stores and compensating the operating
manager and principal owner of the Michigan franchise to stay on as a consultant. Both of these
expenses became part of the intangible reacquired franchise rights asset on the company s balance
sheet, rather than costs that would have reduced the company s reported earnings. Krispy Kreme
announced in a December 2004 8 K filing that it will need to make an adjustment of between $3.4
million and $4.8 million to properly record the compensation as an expense. A second adjustment of
some $500,000 will reverse the improper recording of interest income.
In its December 2004 8 K, Krispy Kreme revealed that there would need to be adjustments made to
the accounting for the Golden Gate Doughnuts purchase as well a total of $3.5 million to correct
improperly recorded compensation expenses and management fees that had been included in the
purchase price. The company will also make a similar correction to fix errors made in the acquisition
of a franchise in Charlottesville, Virginia.
The following month, the company announced that the United States Attorney s Office of the
Southern District of New York was also joining the fray a move indicating concern about possible
criminal misconduct. In April, Cooper shored up the business by securing $225

Speech Free Speech On The Freedom Of Speech
The First Amendment says: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or
prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech or of the press; or the right of
the people to peaceably assemble and to petition the government for a redress of grievances. This
freedom of speech clause as included in the First Amendment guarantees the citizens of America to
express information and ideas freely. But is all form of speech free? On the most basic level, this
clause allows for the expression of an opinion or idea without the fear of censorship by the
government. It protects all forms of communication, with limits so you cannot always say anything
you want, wherever you want, or whenever you want. Fighting words are not protected under the First
Amendment, for instance, as are obscene expressions. Symbolic speech can be expressed in many
different kinds of forms. The speech can be spoken, written, or be an action. All of these kinds of
conduct could be said to express ideas in some ways, however, only some conduct is protected as
symbolic speech. When the court analyzes these types of cases, they will ask the speaker about
whether they intended on conveying a particular message and whether it was likely that the audience
understood the message and the purpose. For a court to decide that some kind of speech is speech that
is not protected as speech the government must prove and show that the speech has an important
reason as to not be

Federal Budget Essay
The federal budget is known as the notorious economic tank from which money is distributed to
various programs. The money used every fiscal year, which begins October 1st and ends September
30th the next year, belongs to the people. The government raises this money through taxes and they
spend it on national defense, Medicare, and social security. The federal budget is an exercise in
making choices, and those options will certainly affect individuals living in the U.S. These choices
cause debt to pile up on the government, who is struggling to make it disappear. The deficit and debt

There are not any easy ways to cut spending on the military especially since we are in the middle of
fighting in Iraq. We can not just pull some troops or provide them with less weapons or supplies then
expect them to protect our country as well as they are now. We need a defense budget that matches the
new security challenges, not the threats of the last century. We need to recognize that a strong
economy is essential for providing the resources to meet future threats; addressing these long term
debts will keep our economy strong.
The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are winding down and that will help lower the defense spending by

Unit 1 Explain And Define The Following Components
Explain and define the following components
Hard drive A hard drive is a non volatile memory device used to store data permanently and retrieve
the same. A hard drive can store different types of data including text, graphics, audio, video, etc. A
hard drive works by using platters on which data is written with the help of a magnetic head. The
platters and head are encased in an air sealed case. Hard disks used inside computers are called
internal hard disks and are located in a drive bay; they use ATA, SATA, or SCSI cables to connect to
the motherboard. They derive power from the PSU (Power Supply Unit).
RAM Random Access Memory (RAM) is accessed randomly (without accessing preceding memory
bytes) by computers. Since data is read randomly, RAM is much faster to read from and write to than
other memory devices. RAM is volatile and can contain data only till the computer is powered on, it
loses data once the computer is powered off. RAM is called the primary memory and is used to load
parts of the operating system and drivers during device boot up. The most common types of RAM
include Dynamic RAM (DRAM) and Static RAM (SRAM).

What Are Leonardo Da Vinci s Major Accomplishments
You know the famous paintings like Mona Lisa and The Last Supper, these were both painted by the
famous artist Leonardo Da Vinci. Besides being a great artist he was an inventor, architect and was
connected with science and nature. Although people didn t understand it at the time some of his ideas
he drew led to inventions like the bicycle, the helicopter and an airplane like machine.
Leonardo Da Vinci was born on April 15, 1452, in Vinci, Italy. His full birthname was Lionardo di ser
Piero da Vinci .His first five years were lived in the hamlet of Anchiano. This was the home of his
mother. He then started living with his father in 1457.
Leonardo had little education beyond basic reading, writing and mathematics. He was largely self
taught. Instead of art, he studied nature, mechanics, anatomy, physics, weaponry, and more. Later, he
started doing art and his first artwork was done in pen and ink. It was called Arno Valley, sketched in
1473. Other pieces like The Adoration of the Magi hasn t been finished. He qualified for membership
as a master artist in Florence s Guild of Saint Luke and made his own workshop. Leonardo was best

Role of Women in Early Republic
The role of women in the Early Republic is a topic mostly overlooked by historians when dealing with
this era of American history. The triumphs of the Revolution and the early events of the new nation
were done solely by men. However, women had their own political societies and even participated in
the Revolution. Women s roles began to take a major turn after the war with Great Britain. This was
due in part to their involvement in the war and female patriotism. Others believed it was due to the
easier access to formal education for young women. Whatever the reason, it inspired women to
challenge the social structure of the Early Republic. The roles of women were changing in the Early
Republic. However, progress was slow and little change ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Kreber notes that women played a number of key roles during the revolution including participating in
various boycotts, enforcement of economic norms, nursing, or even the production of clothing for
soldiers1. These positions were often needed but were not exulted because of the women filling these
roles. This is what led Kreber to investigate the role of female patriotism in the revolution2. Kreber
says that the revolution changed the minds of women in the Early Republic. She said that the
Revolution argued for women s rights due to its claims of equality and freedom.3 Since women were
actively allowed to participate in political and war time activities, it created a spark for change in the
woman s role. These activities gave women a new meaning to the word equality amongst their
superior male counterparts. For the first time, women began to challenge the status quo of being
confined to house life. Kreber describes the four major areas that women were effected by as a result
of the revolution were womien education, derture, divorce, and reading4. These were the four biggest
areas because women wanted to be like men. These were all areas men prided themselves in.
Education was heavily constricted because of the belief of the woman s place in the home. Kreber
says even a contemporary women s magazine warned, learning in men was the road to
preferment...consequently very opposite were the results of the same in women5. Kreber saw the

From: Jalenne Olmstead Date: 2/17/2016 Re: Code of Conduct Review and Suggestions In reviewing
the code of conduct of Salvation Army, there are many strengths that promote the honesty and
integrity of the business. However, there are some weaknesses that as an employee, the Board of
Directors could expand and clarify. The policies of Salvation Army, behavior in the workplace, and
violations are explicit by definition and support the best interest of the company. Throughout the code,

Violations can be treated the same whether the employee violated the code, or if an employee is aware
of a violation and does not inform the company. Disciplinary action if defined as termination, without
notice or payment in lieu of such notice...may also result in civil and/or criminal proceedings being
initiated. (Code of Conduct, 2013, p. 5) Both violations, and the result of committing a violation, seem
vague in relation to the operations of the business and what instances result in a violation.
Clarification of disciplinary action such as probation, suspension, demotion, reduction in pay could be
examples depending upon the company policy that could be added to the Code of Conduct.
Additionally, justification should be added of how serious is a violation or, more importantly what are
the effects of a violation? Not only is a violation a personal consequence, but the consequences for the
company should also be included within the code such as the company s image to the community,
customers and other stakeholders. The Code of Conduct should ultimately relate back to the good of
the company as well as the risks that could include the business. Fraud, unethical or improper
behavior is strongly discouraged throughout the Code of Conduct, and very well should be. In fact, the
Code of Conduct lists nine items in which the any employee should not do. Most people do not
respond well to a list of what not to do.

Large Vs. Small Republic
Essay #1, Question 2
Large vs. Small Republic America is an incredibly vast, diverse country, and has been this way for
hundreds of years. The sheer size of America, even when it was only composed of thirteen states with
a total population of nearly three million people (Brutus, essay 1, p. 64), concerned many Americans
in the 1780s, due to this inquiry: was America simply too large for a republican style government to
work? Many anti federalists claimed that republics could only work on a small scale, while the
federalists believed that having a large republic was the only way to go and would be beneficial to the
public good. Before this time, history furnished no examples of a well functioning republic as big as
America, so the federalists and anti federalists were stepping into a completely new untouched
territory. Of course, history did furnish examples of small republics. The Anti federalists drew upon
these, in order to show that there are extreme advantages of having a small territory and population for
popular government, which promoted their reasoning for wanting to keep the main powers of
government local at the state level. Brutus mentions an example of small republics in his first essay,
stating that the Greek and Roman republics were of small extent at first. These republics were
successful until they conquered more territory, which resulted in those republics becoming the most
tyrannical that ever existed in the world. (Brutus, essay 1 p. 63). The reason

This study examines the manner people process language through visual and auditory sensory
modalities under different study conditions, by measuring a person s percentage of correctly
responding if a word is real or fake and how much time it took the individual to react to their decision.
The study condition for congruent words, in which the audio recording of words matched the real
English word shown on the computer screen, had a significant effect in helping participants process
the words more quickly and accurately as possible when making a lexical decision. The study
condition for incongruent words, in which the audio recording of words mismatched the real English

Lexical decision evaluates how quickly a person can classify words and non words through the use of
stimuli s. The conditions of the study facilitated manipulations in visual and auditory stimuli s to
measure reaction time and accuracy when exposed to different circumstances, such as the auditory
stimuli matching/mismatching the visual stimuli/words. This study found that congruent and
incongruent conditions impacts accuracy and reaction time when choosing if the type of letter string
presented is either a pseudo word or a word. This finding suggests congruent or matching auditory
words and visual words assists people in quickly recognizing a word or non word and is more accurate
with their decision. Incongruent or mismatched auditory words and visual words slow down peoples
decision making and minimizes their choice from being correct. In addition, the findings of the study
also suggest that pseudo words and words had no effect on a person s accuracy but rather their
reaction time. The result for the types of letter string administered in the experiment proposed that the
visual stimuli s/words does not interfere with a person from correctly making a decision, but makes
people slower in making a decision. Overall, this online

Descriptive Essay On Mother Nature
Mother Nature can be a wicked, wicked woman.
Thanks the weather, farmers and ranchers are really getting hammered this year, and the hits just seem
to keep coming. According to information from the National Centers For Environmental Information,
there have been nearly a dozen weather and climate disaster events (not including Hurricanes Harvey
and Irma, or wildfires) in 2017 where damages have totaled at least a billion dollars.
Seeing what you have worked so hard for all your life under water, blown away or just simply gone is
a helpless feeling. Farmers and ranchers can rebuild, but it s never the same, and the landscape is
forever altered.
Some of the scariest moments I ve had in my life have been because of the weather. I can remember
storms rolling through and seemed like the roof was going to come off the house. There aren t storm
sirens across the rural landscape in the Ozarks, so you have to hope the TV or radio weatherman can
give you enough warning when dangerous weather approached.
Working at weekly and daily newspapers for many years, I was one of the people chasing the storms,
camera and notebook in hand. It was part of the job, but it was never easy. I remember following a
dozer into a rural area in 2003 after a deadly tornado ripped a path from Cedar to Camden County. It
was my first up close look at the aftermath of a tornado. I have driven into areas that were under
evacuation orders, thinking the whole time I was completely crazy, but I had a job to

The American Culture And Values
Critiquing American Culture and Values: (The Social) Network The emergence of novel forms of
communication in American history tends to produce two contrasting reactions: general acceptance
from society and moral outrage from a limited, vocal portion of the public. As a medium, film was met
in such a fashion with the creation of the Production Code Administration in 1934, designed by
Catholic leaders to uphold their conception of American values. At the same time, the example of
Middletown depicted a rural community incorporating the experience of film into their regular lives,
treating it as entertainment alongside shows at the opera house. Decades later, we see film utilized to
criticize the social impact of emerging communicative methods, including television and social media
in the form of Network (1976) and The Social Network (2010). A method of universal programing, by
which centralized, censored content is broadcast in synchronous to an audience discriminant only by
which of the four major networks they choose to view is the portrayal of television afforded by the
characters aimed to garner the most sympathy in Network. The voices of reason and morality in the
film, older folks seen as untainted by television and corporate greed condemn television for replacing
genuine human interaction with hollow facades of conformity and pre scripted emotions. While
concerns over lacking human connection and false human emotions remain, social media has

Erasmus And The Praise Of Folly
During the Renaissance of the sixteenth century, Europe experienced a golden age of new works of
art, literature, and advancement in medicine. However, as these advancements spread across the
European nation states, the order of the Protestant Reformation began to rise. Christian humanists and
middle class patrons opposed the religious mores, creating unorthodox standpoints of the European
Christendom. Likewise, in Erasmus The Praise of Folly, the allegorical figure, Dame Folly, criticizes
the follies of influential groups and individuals of the sixteenth century. Rather than creating a written
work that agrees with the conventional views and methods of the period, Erasmus takes a modern
approach instead. Erasmus uses a peculiar technique ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When one provides criticism, it is usually directed to those in the same social division, especially
those one is close with. In addition, the feedback is delivered in a calm and courteous tone. This
combination would prevent those that are receiving the feedback from feeling embarrassed or uneasy.
However, Erasmus does the opposite, through which he bluntly attacks groups that are highly
influential during the Renaissance period: doctors, lawyers, artists, scientists, and theologians. Dame
Folly appoints them as having the greatest affinity with folly (lines 29 30). More specifically,
medicine is more rhetoric than true, artists are merely complacent, and those in the religious
community do not deserve the religious and monks titles. In addition, although Erasmus specifically
addresses these disciplines, his discernments also expose the follies of all human beings. However, it
is easier to use the titles of those of higher status, for it receives more attention. Essentially, it is a bold
decision to stand out against those that make up what is the Renaissance or what has become socially
accepted. Similar to the function of satire, attacking higher individuals creates a controversial quarrel.
Furthermore, modern works usually result in these quarrels and unexpected reactions, for the audience
are not accustomed to what they are viewing. As a result, Erasmus usage of modern techniques helps

Explaining the Term Urbanisation Essay
Explaining the Term Urbanisation
Urbanisation is the process in which the number of people living in cities increases compared with the
number of people living in rural areas. A country is considered to be urbanised when over 50% of its
population lives in urban places. In the UK the movement of people from rural to urban areas
followed the industrial revolution as people were needed to work in the factories in the CBD. It took
place throughout the 19th and Early 20th Centuries in Europe and North America. By 1950 most of
the people in these two continents lived in urban area. However their urbanisation was relatively slow,

Urbanisation results in urban sprawl. Urban sprawl is the expansion of urban areas into surrounding
non urban areas. In developing countries it occurs largely as a result of growing cities. In developed
countries car dependence is a major factor. For example in London UK, people may prefer to live in
the outskirts of the city where it is less congested and polluted and then commute to work using public
transport or their own cars.
Rapid urbanisation occurred during the period of industrialisation that took place in Europe and North
America in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Many people moved from rural to urban areas
to get jobs. Since 1950 the most rapid growth in urbanisation has occurred in LEDCs, such as South
America, Africa and Asia. Between 1950 and 1990 the urban population living in LEDCs doubled. In
developed countries the increase was less than half.
People living in rural areas are pulled to the city. Often they believe that the standard of living in
urban areas will be much better than that in rural areas., however they are usually wrong. People also
hope for well paid jobs, and the greater opportunities to find casual or informal work.

The Field Of Business Management

Business Management
In the field of business there are several fields of emphasis one can choose to focus their major on. I
chose to major in business management for several very distinct reasons that will appear in this paper.
The first reason I choose to focus on a management major was for the opportunity to work with other
people. Management requires collaboration as opposed to simply being an individual effort. The
second reason I am interested in the field of business management is that I am competitive. Because of
this I prefer to step up in a leadership position. The most significant reason for choosing my major is
that I believe in the saying, the greater the risk, the greater the rewards. I know that as a manager I
have to risk the most as the man in charge. I also recognize that I gain the most out of my successes
for putting the most on the line. These reasons that I will discuss in greater detail are the core of why I
chose to major in business management. As mentioned, my interest in business management comes
largely from a desire to collaborate with my peers, but this also means bringing together new
technologies that are modernizing business today. In his article, The Future of Management, Irving
Wladawsky Berger writes, Management talent is critical. As digitization permeates every nook and
cranny of every company, managers at all levels must be fluent in how to best

Editors of Encyclopædia Britannica, 2017). When he was only a baby Thetis dipped Achilles in the
waters of the River Styx. By which he became invulnerable, except for the part of his heel by which
she held him ((The Editors of Encyclopædia Britannica, 2017). Achilles had no blaring weakness and
almost seem to be invincible. Until one day he was shot by a poison arrow in his Achilles tendon. This
shows that even the legends we inspire to be have their very own weaknesses. We use the term
Achilles heel today as an analogy to our own short comings. For me it seems as though routine
imaging, ability to work with a portable, and eagerness to learn are my strengths. Even though I would
consider myself a great warrior literally and metaphorically. I also have my fair share of short comings
or in this case Achilles heel. My lack of complete understanding of technical factors, patient
positioning, and special views have become my weaknesses.
To start with being able to take routine imaging is one of many building blocks to become a great tech.
Routine images at times can become a little mundane after doing 30 of them in a row. However, it s
also really easy to mess up by not centering correctly, changing the technique after you have left the
room causing the collimation to close, forgetting to place a marker on the

Tax Court Case Analysis
Manager/analyst could deduct MBA costs that didn t qualify him for new trade or business
Long, TC Summary Opinion 2016 88TC Summary Opinion 2016 88
In a Summary Opinion, the Tax Court has determined that a taxpayer could deduct the costs of
obtaining a master of business administration (MBA) as unreimbursed employee expenses. The Court
found that the MBA didn t qualify him for a new profession but rather refined his existing business
and investment skills that he used in his former managerial position, and it further concluded that the
taxpayer remained in the same trade or business before and after attaining the degree.
Background. Education expenses are deductible under Code Sec. 162(a) if made by a taxpayer either

The Court found that, while Long couldn t deduct his education costs in connection with his real estate
activity as he originally claimed, he could deduct them as unreimbursed employee expenses.
While IRS conceded that the degree wasn t incurred to meet the minimum educational requirements of
Long s trade or business, it asserted that the expenses were nondeductible because Long s MBA
qualified him for a new trade or business. Specifically, IRS argued that the MBA enabled him to
acquire the senior research analyst position with Connective Capital, noting that the job posting stated
a preference for MBA holders.
The Court, however, rejected this argument and found that Long was in the same trade or business
before enrolling in the MBA program and remained in that trade or business when he took on the new
position at Connective Capital. He was qualified in financial analysis through his studies and personal
investment experience before enrolling in the MBA program in May 2010, as demonstrated by his
passing the CAIA and CFA exams before enrolling, and he was also developing financial skills as
general partner of the investment partnership. IRS also emphasized that Long didn t become a CFA
charter holder or a CAIA member until 2012, but the Court accepted Long s explanation that the
annual fees were costly and just passing the exams was sufficient to demonstrate knowledge and

His fall and rise, shows exactly what he believes, and reveals his quest for freedom. Throughout the
film, Maximus wants nothing but revenge for his family and his eventual freedom. The film contians
this theme within the scenes themselves, making background information unneeded.
Scott s film presents the overall purpose of he enhancement of life. Maximus, plays the role of the
hero, who rises, and takes his revenge. Although Maximus kills many people, he does so righteously,
trying desperately to avenge his murdered family, and gain his freedom again. Not once does maximus
kill innocent people, or take the lives of those who did him no wrong. He only wants vengeance, on
those who betrayed and wronged him; those who made him a slave, and murdered his family. At one
point, Maximus screams to the crowd, are you not entertained, mocking their vile cheering, and death
chants. The people however do not take notice of his mocking tone, only cheering louder. Maximus
never betrays his fellow soldiers, or harms innocent people. He only kills the people who block him
from his freedom and revenge. Maximus bravery and valor, give his men the courage to fight and die,
protecting their beliefs and freedoms. Maximus bravery also gives the Roman people courage,
allowing them to oppose the corrupt Emperor, Commodus. When Maximus reveals himself, and
swears his revenge, the roman people who honor and respect him, are struck with courage.

Peace Agreement And Peace Agreements
In agreements there is a vast variety of what be placed to those agreements. Through the peace
agreement there is a different outcome, which usually may just lead to a broke agreement and maybe
to war like Sudan. A peace agreement is framed agreement between warring parties, which addresses
their disputed inconsistency. In the Addis Ababa Agreement had a lot of flaws that were not address
just like the peace agreement said it should happen. In peace agreement it has address, concern,
manage, or regulate stated incapability are considered peace agreements including peace process, but
it was not stipulated clearly in the Addis Ababa Agreement. The agreement failed to address key
political issue that lay at root of conflict. This creates an unstable relationship between both sides
because it can leave negative feeling between the two parties. Peace agreement document produced
negotiations, but there was a lot of it left out in the Addis Ababa Agreement. The agreement was from
the start short, which did not clearly state the negotiation between the two parties. Having negotiation,
it must be very clear what both parties are giving or taking and what it is that both will do in order to
stop any future conflict.
Comprehensive Peace Agreement was an interim national constitution, which was created within six
weeks. This was different from the Addis Ababa Agreement, it was not talking about any type of new
constitution or new laws that make it equal for both side. It worked more

Justification of Paper
This paper has focused on the ideas of Paulo Freire whose thought which has consequently persuaded
many other scholars to think about the impact of social injustice and dehumanization such as
untouchability and discrimination in the world. His thoughts have a lot to proffer to the field of social
movement and change and have greatly influenced the methods used in social practices. Caste system
is a profound and rooted structure in Nepal that it cannot be eliminated easily. Many efforts have done
to eradicate caste system but not abolished properly. However, the concept of untouchability has been
slowly changing in the society. Dr. Ambedkar said inter caste marriage can be the best way to

Ambedkar is still popular and his thoughts continue to be relevant even today. Not only in India but
also in Nepal he is considered to be a father of defiant so called higher caste Hindu sentiments. He
played a major role to turn Hindu rooted society into secularism. He was asked to write a constitution
in India, however, he devoted himself to humanizing the lives of untouchable in whole south Asia. He
declared himself as an untouchable and found in disagree with Gandhi because Gandhi proposed
Harijans as a substitute. Though, Dr. Ambedkar refused Harijan as patronizing choosing Dalit. The
influence of Dr. Ambedkar was seen in Nepal as well. There was a movement to enter into the Hindu

I want to improve my lowest mark in semester one. This is going to be achieved through revising
articles with a fresh look and applying individual and general feedback. The biggest impact is going to
be the blending of all 3 articles together and using the text book to back up the arguments made. It will
also be the use of correct references in the text and following the study guidelines. The title of the
essay last semester was Leadership in the workplace. I picked Section B as this was the section which
had the most errors in the individual feedback. It is going to be a literature review of articles that we
have to prepare for this essay. I have added one more article to make the arguments more alive and

Septic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (SIRS)
The word sepsis is derived from the ancient Greek word for rotten flesh and putrefaction. Since then, a
wide variety of definitions have been applied to sepsis, including sepsis syndrome, severe sepsis,
bacteremia, septicemia and septic shock In 1991, the American College of Chest Physicians (ACCP)
and the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM) developed a new set of terms and definitions to
define sepsis in a more precise manner [1, 2]. These definitions take into account the findings that
sepsis may result from a multitude of infectious agents and microbial mediators and may not be
associated with detectable bloodstream infection. The term systemic inflammatory response syndrome
(SIRS) was coined to describe the com mon systemic response to a wide variety of insults. When
SIRS was the result of a suspected or confirmed infectious process, it is termed sepsis . ... Show more

Septic shock is a subset of severe sepsis and was defined as sepsis induced hypotension persisting
despite adequate fluid resusci tation (see Fig. 12.1). While the quantity of fluid that qualifies as
adequate fluid resuscitation is controversial, we believe septic shock is best defined as a mean arterial
pressure (MAP) less than 65 mmHg after a fluid challenge of 20 mL/Kg body weight (given 30 60
minutes) in patients with sepsis and in the absence of other causes for hypotension (also see Chap. 14).
According to the ACCP/SCCM defini tions, three stages in the hierarchy of the host s response to
infection were recognized, namely, sepsis, severe sepsis and septic shock, with sepsis having the best
prognosis and septic shock the worst. While the use of the SIRS criteria to define sepsis is some what
controversial [3 6], many consider sepsis to be best defined as the systemic response to infection with
the presence of some degree of organ dysfunction

Bradbury: Hopeful or Hopeless

  • 2. The Contamination Of The Gold Mining Company Within the last couple of month there has been a mere excessive amount of water being polluted and having toxic waste carelessly dumped. The Animas River of Colorado and flowing through Utah, New Mexico, and high Northern Part of Arizona. But it s not just the that, there are plenty of lakes and rivers that are being contaminated with toxic waste all the time. And people seem to be very closed and okay with the fact their water sources are dirty. Well as a Native American, some of these parts the river flows are pretty much sacred lands, and as well as the water very vital. But due to the government and the EPA granting permission for the gold mining company to dump their whatever waste into the river, now jeopardizing millions of people and creatures that rely on the water source for survival. But after knowing they gave permission to do this, the EPA had the nerves to go right around, apologize, but telling residents that live alongside the flowing river to say the contamination was an accident . So as for this accidental spill, now people and domesticated animals can t use this source for anything. As for cleaning up, it may take a couple years until anything good can actually come out of it. The thousands of gallon waste that were dumped into the water leaves a very thick orange yellow color covering the whole. And since the part of the river flows through Northern Arizona, where a very pristine and sacred land for the Navajo Nation, it s disturbing and a disgrace ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. The Namesake Reduction By Jhumpa Lahiri Essay The Namesake Reduction By Jhumpa Lahiri Author Lahiri was born in Nilanjan Sudeshna on July 11, 1967. Her works mainly consists of novels, short stories and postcolonial. In her career, she has won the Pulitzer Prize and the O. Henry Award and currently she works at Princeton University as a creative writing professor. Significance of title A namesake is a something that is named after something else. In Gogol s case, when he was just born and the doctors asked for his name, his parents didn t know what to say because they were expecting as letter from Ashima s grandmother (which didn t arrive). Thus, Ashoke named his son Gogol after the famous Russian writer Nikolai Gogol. This may seem a bit random considering their Indian background, but we were told that when Ashoke was young, he was in a train wreck, and in that train wreck the only item he was able to take was a copy of the book The Overcoat by Nikolai Gogol. Because of this, Ashoke s first thought when it came to that moment (when he had to choose a name for his son) was of that author. And thus, Gogol, the Indian child with raised in America with a Russian name came to be. The book centers on Gogol trying to find meaning and a way to express his life with a name that didn t mean much significance...until later. Introduction My Speech is about the scientists who had the main influence on our current time and have shaped our contemporary view of the world (Also called in Theology the Zeitgeist ). I have chosen two of them who were in many ways just opposites. One is extremely famous and the other is almost unknown except to specialists. The most famous is of course Albert Einstein. This sounds very foolish and naturally many people at that time thought the same. But it had a concrete background in the scientific circles of the later 19th century. They had begun to measure the speed of light and that is were it all started. But to understand the issue we have to go back a bit to Issac Newtown who was revolutionary scientist and discovered the law of gravity and the basics of the laws of physics. These were not revolutionary, but revolutionary was the ability to get a mathematical grasp on it so they could calculate. Newtown made it possible to calculate the path of a bullet. Very important for the military. He made an interesting observation. When you take a ball in your hand and throw it, the ball will have a certain speed while it is moving away from you. But if you see somebody in a train throwing a ball the speed of the ball adds up to the speed of the train. This does not seem to be the case if you are yourself in the train throwing that ball. The ball moves away with the same speed as it did when you performed the same thing on the earth. The Speed of the ball is dependant on the viewpoint. Depends from where you measure it. This is a kind of Newtownian Relativity. The speed of an observed incident like a flying ball depends on your own speed. If you are throwing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

(Dolson, HO #3, p.1) Premise A, If Abraham Lincoln was a friend of John Wilkes Booth, then John Wilkes Booth would not kill Abraham Lincoln. is true. Premise B, Abraham Lincoln was not friends with John Wilkes booth. is also true. But, the conclusion supposes that because John Wilkes Booth and Lincoln were not friends, Booth would kill Abraham Lincoln. There are multiple ways to show an argument is invalid. One test is Dan Dolson s Test for Validity (D.D.T.V.). To use D.D.T.V. we must pretend the premises are true and find a way in which the conclusion can be false (Dolson, #3, p.1). We have already stated the premises are true so there is no need to pretend, but the test still works. The film received mostly negative reviews but became a success throughout the public. Eventually the National Film Preservation Board deemed the film culturally and artistically significant and it s central themes and heros resonated with the youth movement of the time. The importance of the movie is what it came to represent to the people who saw it. When audiences went to go see this film, the younger generation viewed Joe Lafores, E. H. Harriman and his superhuman posse as a symbol of the authority of another generation. Cassidy s statement that Harriman probably inherited every penny he got resonated with the generation who questioned inheritance and wealth as justification for authority (Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid n.p.). Even though Goldman stated that he did not intend to make the movie an allegory to the counterculture of the 1960s, many young people saw the superposse as a metaphor for the government/authority during the years of anti war protests (Nixon n.p.). They identified with the youth and rebellion of Butch and Sundance and they saw the superhuman posse as a bunch of faceless lawmen trying to put an end to the reign of the bandit rebels. The triumphs of the Revolution and the early events of the new nation were done solely by men. However, women had their own political societies and even participated in the Revolution. Women s roles began to take a major turn after the war with Great Britain. This was due in part to their involvement in the war and female patriotism. Kreber says that the revolution changed the minds of women in the Early Republic. She said that the Revolution argued for women s rights due to its claims of equality and freedom.3 Since women were actively allowed to participate in political and war time activities, it created a spark for change in the woman s role. These activities gave women a new meaning to the word equality amongst their superior male counterparts. For the first time, women began to challenge the status quo of being confined to house life. Kreber describes the four major areas that women were effected by as a result of the revolution were womien education, derture, divorce, and reading4. These were the four biggest areas because women wanted to be like men. These were all areas men prided themselves in. • 22. Large Vs. Small Republic Essay #1, Question 2 Large vs. Small Republic America is an incredibly vast, diverse country, and has been this way for hundreds of years. The sheer size of America, even when it was only composed of thirteen states with a total population of nearly three million people (Brutus, essay 1, p. 64), concerned many Americans in the 1780s, due to this inquiry: was America simply too large for a republican style government to work? Many anti federalists claimed that republics could only work on a small scale, while the federalists believed that having a large republic was the only way to go and would be beneficial to the public good. Before this time, history furnished no examples of a well functioning republic as big as America, so the federalists and anti federalists were stepping into a completely new untouched territory. Of course, history did furnish examples of small republics. The Anti federalists drew upon these, in order to show that there are extreme advantages of having a small territory and population for popular government, which promoted their reasoning for wanting to keep the main powers of government local at the state level. Brutus mentions an example of small republics in his first essay, stating that the Greek and Roman republics were of small extent at first. These republics were successful until they conquered more territory, which resulted in those republics becoming the most tyrannical that ever existed in the world. (Brutus, essay 1 p. 63). The conditions of the study facilitated manipulations in visual and auditory stimuli s to measure reaction time and accuracy when exposed to different circumstances, such as the auditory stimuli matching/mismatching the visual stimuli/words. This study found that congruent and incongruent conditions impacts accuracy and reaction time when choosing if the type of letter string presented is either a pseudo word or a word. This finding suggests congruent or matching auditory words and visual words assists people in quickly recognizing a word or non word and is more accurate with their decision. Incongruent or mismatched auditory words and visual words slow down peoples decision making and minimizes their choice from being correct. In addition, the findings of the study also suggest that pseudo words and words had no effect on a person s accuracy but rather their reaction time. Thanks the weather, farmers and ranchers are really getting hammered this year, and the hits just seem to keep coming. According to information from the National Centers For Environmental Information, there have been nearly a dozen weather and climate disaster events (not including Hurricanes Harvey and Irma, or wildfires) in 2017 where damages have totaled at least a billion dollars. Seeing what you have worked so hard for all your life under water, blown away or just simply gone is a helpless feeling. Farmers and ranchers can rebuild, but it s never the same, and the landscape is forever altered. Some of the scariest moments I ve had in my life have been because of the weather. I can remember storms rolling through and seemed like the roof was going to come off the house. There aren t storm sirens across the rural landscape in the Ozarks, so you have to hope the TV or radio weatherman can give you enough warning when dangerous weather approached. Working at weekly and daily newspapers for many years, I was one of the people chasing the storms, camera and notebook in hand. It was part of the job, but it was never easy. I remember following a dozer into a rural area in 2003 after a deadly tornado ripped a path from Cedar to Camden County. It was my first up close look at the aftermath of a tornado. The American Culture And Values Critiquing American Culture and Values: (The Social) Network The emergence of novel forms of communication in American history tends to produce two contrasting reactions: general acceptance from society and moral outrage from a limited, vocal portion of the public. As a medium, film was met in such a fashion with the creation of the Production Code Administration in 1934, designed by Catholic leaders to uphold their conception of American values. At the same time, the example of Middletown depicted a rural community incorporating the experience of film into their regular lives, treating it as entertainment alongside shows at the opera house. Decades later, we see film utilized to criticize the social impact of emerging communicative methods, including television and social media in the form of Network (1976) and The Social Network (2010). A method of universal programing, by which centralized, censored content is broadcast in synchronous to an audience discriminant only by which of the four major networks they choose to view is the portrayal of television afforded by the characters aimed to garner the most sympathy in Network. However, Erasmus does the opposite, through which he bluntly attacks groups that are highly influential during the Renaissance period: doctors, lawyers, artists, scientists, and theologians. Dame Folly appoints them as having the greatest affinity with folly (lines 29 30). More specifically, medicine is more rhetoric than true, artists are merely complacent, and those in the religious community do not deserve the religious and monks titles. I chose to major in business management for several very distinct reasons that will appear in this paper. The first reason I choose to focus on a management major was for the opportunity to work with other people. Management requires collaboration as opposed to simply being an individual effort. The second reason I am interested in the field of business management is that I am competitive. Because of this I prefer to step up in a leadership position. The most significant reason for choosing my major is that I believe in the saying, the greater the risk, the greater the rewards. I know that as a manager I have to risk the most as the man in charge. I also recognize that I gain the most out of my successes for putting the most on the line. These reasons that I will discuss in greater detail are the core of why I chose to major in business management. As mentioned, my interest in business management comes largely from a desire to collaborate with my peers, but this also means bringing together new technologies that are modernizing business today.
