Sarah Imeinu Research Paper
There are four great women of the Pentateuch, but I think Sarah is the greatest of all. The following is
the main background information about Sarah. Sarah Imeinu is the wife of Abraham and Mother of the
Jewish Nation. Sarah was the first matriarch, and Abraham was the first patriarch (father), of our
Jewish people. She was born and raised from the city of Ur, Kasdim, the Sumerian city of Ur.
Sarah s early life consists of many different names for herself. As a young girl, she was originally
known as Yisach (Jessica), which means to see. She is said to have been born blessed with divine
inspiration. She was exceedingly beautiful, so her original name reflected her beauty. She was a
prophetess and had the ability to see into the future. Another reason for the name Yisach was because
people used to gaze at her beauty. She changed her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I see her as our mother. She a modern woman. She led her life with a clear vision and purpose. She
had the courage to follow her own convictions, no matter how progressive they were at the time. She
led her life as a role model for women of her era. She changed the world positively. She left the world
a changed place because of her strength and insight. The most impressive thing about Sarah to me was
her popularity, power, and strength. Siftei Chachamim, a famed 17th century Torah commentator,
wrote that Sarah s level of prophecy was actually superior to that of Abraham. It is said that Sarah was
such a powerful prophetess that God spoke to her directly, while to the others he spoke through a
messenger. She was entirely free of sin, and she was exceptionally modest. One event that changed
Sarah s life was her giving birth to Isaac. God made a covenant with Abraham. This was that his wife
(Sarah) would conceive a son. The couple both laughed at this promise. God s covenant come true and
Sarah gave birth to a son named Isaac. His name is ironic because it means

Hyperthermia And Chemotherapy Essay
The use of electromagnetic waves in therapeutic applications has existed for many decades.
Nowadays, the therapies that use non ionising radiation and are available for clinical use lie on the
thermal effects of low frequency electromagnetic waves, from radio frequencies to optical frequencies.
Hyperthermia and thermal ablation are currently used to treat various types of cancers, either by
killing the cancerous cells or by locally and selectively enhancing the efficiency of chemotherapeutic
drugs and radiation treatment. Hyperthermia treatment elevates the tissue temperature between 40 °C
and 45 °C, for altering the functional and structural properties of enzymatic proteins that make tumour
more sensitive to radiation and chemotherapy. Thermal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the complexity and heterogeneity of human brain structure and mechanisms, such as nerve
stimulation, blood circulation and homeostasis, complicates the effort for predicting the temperature
rise and distribution generated by one or multiple electromagnetic sources inside the brain tissue.
Nevertheless, it is of high importance to monitor and control the temperature changes during these
procedures in order to minimise the severe side effects of elevated brain temperatures for long
durations. To this end, non invasive techniques that exhibit enhanced sensitivity and specificity
thermometric are required for spatial and real time temperature monitoring.
Nanotechnology offers enhanced localisation of treatment delivery to brain diseased sites, including
hyperthermia, thermal ablation, as well as chemotherapeutic drug delivery and gene therapy. The
procedure may also be monitored with various ionising or non ionising imaging modalities.
Theranostics is an emerging medical field that uses nanoparticles for combining diagnosis and
treatment on a single nanoscale platform.
In this paragraph, multimodal systems for thermal electromagnetic treatments and real time
temperature monitoring and/or visualisation of the anatomical area of interest are presented
emphasising microwave technology. Additionally, novel approaches for combined therapy and
diagnosis using non ionising radiation in a nanoscale level are presented in the last

Gregory Nav A Mexican Filmmaker Who Was Born Essay
Gregory Nava is a Mexican filmmaker who was born on April 10, 1949, in San Diego California. As a
former UCLA alumni, Nava has produced several racially and culturally charged films that often
break new grounds such as, El Norte, Mi Familia, and Bordertown. Thus, Nava dedicates his
filmmaking career to give his audience a distinct point of view which is the central thread of his films
and that which encompasses the Latino culture, experience, and their unjust treatment in America as
oppressed minorities; with the hope of counteracting false stereotypes, misconceptions, promoting
education, compassion, and acceptance of minorities. Nava does this by redefining the traditional
labels of who the insiders and outsiders of society are, he also puts Latinos in the position of subjects
through whose eyes the audience, experience plots, and who speak for themselves instead of being
perceived voyeuristically by characters from outside the Latino community, and by incorporating what
Nava describes as dream realism aspects to his films (Johnson, 2009).
Nava s $750,000 independent film, El Norte depicts the story of a Guatemalan brother and his sister s
harrowing odyssey to the United States that includes a memorable grueling crawl through a rat
infested tunnel and their struggles to adapt to their new life in Los Angeles (Johnson, 2009, p.1).

Stripped Roots Until the lions have their own historian, the history of the hunt will always glorify the
hunter. This quote can be applied to many different situations throughout history, but in the context of
the novel, Things Fall Apart, the quote refers to renowned Nigerian author, Chinua Achebe, recounting
the story of the Ibo people and their oppression. Achebe assumes the role of the lions historian by
exhibiting the richness of the Ibo culture and showing its destruction by the colonialism of the late
nineteenth century.
The people of Umuofia have a complex and unique system of religion and government. While most
other civilizations in the world have an easily distinguishable line between religion and government,
the religion and government of the Ibo are intertwined. The Ibo people worship a deity known as
Agbala, the goddess of the earth; however, Agbala can only be heard through Chielo, the voice of the
Oracle. The people of Umuofia are led by a chief council called the egwugwu who rely on advice
from Agbala to govern the village. Agbala s authority over the village of Umuofia is clearly seen in
her order to have Ikemefuna executed. Yes, Umuofia has decided to kill him [Ikemefuna]. The Oracle

TYPE A PROJECT MSF is a neutral and impartial humanitarian organization that aims first and
foremost to provide high quality medical care to the people who need it the most. It does not promote
the agenda of any country, political party, or religious faith, and, as such, endeavors to communicate
its history, background, and capabilities to all parties in a given situation so that it may gain the
necessary access to populations in need..On any given day, more than 30,000 doctors, nurses,
logisticians, water and sanitation experts, administrators, and other qualified professionals working
with MSF can be found providing medical care around the world..In 2012, MSF medical teams carried
out more than 8.3 million outpatient consultations; delivered more than 185,000 babies; treated more
than 1.6 million people for malaria; treated nearly 350,000 severely and moderately malnourished
children; provided some 284,000 people living with HIV/AIDS with antiretroviral therapy; conducted
more than 78,000 surgeries, and vaccinated 690,000 against measles and 496,000 against meningitis
OPENING A PROJECT When a crisis breaks, we act fast to gauge the needs, mobilizing MSF staff
already in the area or sending in an emergency team. In reality, these two groups often work closely

Anatomy Of The Pulmonary, Coronaries And Veins
Anatomy Of The pulmonary, Coronaries and aorta arteries
Gross anatomy
The heart and great vessels are roughly in the middle of the thorax, being surrounded laterally and
posteriorly by the lungs and anteriorly by the sternum and the central part of the thoracic cage. The
heart acts a twofold, self modifying suction and pressure pump, the parts of which work in union to
push blood to all parts of the body. The right half of the heart (right heart) gets ineffectively
oxygenated (venous) blood from the body via the SVC and IVC and pumps it through the pulmonary
trunk to the lungs for oxygenation. The left half of the heart (left heart) gets well oxygenated (arterial)
blood from the lungs via the pulmonary veins and pushes it into the aorta for circulation to the body
(Fig.1) (Moore and Dalley, 2006).
Fig.1. The heart and great vessels (Quoted from Shah, 2005)
I Anatomy of pulmonary arteries:
The lungs get blood by means of two sets of arteries: pulmonary arteries and bronchial arteries.
Deoxygenated blood goes through the pulmonary trunk which separates into a left pulmonary artery
that enters the left lung and a right pulmonary artery that enters the right lung. Return of the
oxygenated blood to the heart happens by method of the four pulmonary veins which deplete into the
left atrium (Tortora and Nielsen, 2012). The fundamental divisions of the trunk are the right and left
pulmonary arteries. The right pulmonary artery goes in front of the

Describe A Model Of Bravery, Selflessness, Courage, And...
When describing a model of bravery, selflessness, courage, and sensibility Shun Fujimoto is an

When this is Americanized a quote from President John F. Kennedy comes to mind Ask not what your
country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country . Shun gained the love and support from
both his teammates and his country for enduring unimaginable amounts of pain to see others succeed.
By placing his teammates before his own well being and priorities Shun shows interdependent self
construal. The interdependent self construal is based on belonging to a group or fitting in. The Asian
culture is very centered around an interdependent self construal. Being family orient is a large
expectation many in the Asian culture believe, based upon religion that one must achieve the
happiness of certain Gods and will, in turn, live their life to gain that happiness and respect.
Maintaining social connections and keeping harmony and peace is a core value in the Japanese
culture. This being a valid reasoning for Shun s ability to withstand such brutalizing pain to achieve
his goal of helping carry his teammates to victory. The interdependent self construal is a means of
valuing other opinions higher than that of your own. The respect gained from family and friends is of
higher importance to the self than that of the inner thoughts. These relationships are dependent on the
reflection of the self in terms of how one defines succeeding and bring harmony to others. When

Defining Naturalness And Its Impact On The Environment
IV. Defining Naturalness Another potential, but overall less effective, goal for conservation is
naturalness, which is also defined differently across the literature. Crumpacker (1998) describes three
components of naturalness, two of which the author argues are quantifiable. The first part of
naturalness is the degree to which the system would change if humans were removed (Crumpacker
1998). The next two components of naturalness are the amount of cultural energy that is required to
maintain the currently existing system and the number of native species that currently live in the
system in comparison to the abundance of species that lived in the area prior to European settlement
(Crumpacker 1998). Anderson (1991) describes naturalness as a continuum between complete
naturalness, which would be an ecosystem virtually unaffected by humans, and complete
unnaturalness, which would be an environment that is completely influenced by humans, such as a
city. This scale of naturalness is established by assessing the extent to which ecosystems have been
modified by humans and how much a damaged ecosystem would recover if humans were removed
(Anderson 1991).
Ridder (2007) also addresses two interpretations of naturalness that are similar to the definitions
proposed by Anderson (1991). One interpretation by Ridder (2007) is that naturalness refers to
processes that do not involve human intervention, which is similar to the spontaneous condition of
nature that would exist in the

Siddhartha, the handsome and respected son of a Brahmin, lives with his father in ancient India.
Everyone in the village expects Siddhartha to be a successful Brahmin like his father. Siddhartha
enjoys a near idyllic existence with his best friend, Govinda, but he is secretly dissatisfied. He
performs all the rituals of religion, and he does what religion says should bring him happiness and
peace. Nonetheless, he feels something is missing. His father and the other elders have still not
achieved enlightenment, and he feels that staying with them will not settle the questions he has about
the nature of his existence. Siddhartha believes his father has already passed on all the wisdom their

Argumentative Essay On Halloween Costumes
In recent years, Halloween costumes have created controversy because they touch on the issue of
cultural appropriation. Children are simply not aware of how their costumes can unwittingly offend
certain cultures or ethnic groups, and parents are also often unsure as to which costume ideas qualify
as culturally respectful . In the LA Times opinion editorial, On Halloween, parents have no choice but
to wade into fraught cultural politics, Oppenheimer argues that picking a Halloween costume is a
challenging task with many grey areas as to what is considered offensive to various religious or ethnic
groups who are often the inspiration behind Halloween costumes. He asserts that all individuals
should take care to avoid culturally appropriating, but that there are also grey areas in costume choice
where appropriation isn t as clearly defined. In order to illustrate the nuanced challenge of picking
costumes, Oppenheimer utilizes an anecdote to show how societal values have changed within his
lifetime. He shares, When I was 10, I was in love with a musical theater; if you d forced me to dress
up for Halloween, I might have been chosen a character from Dreamgirls, a play about African
Americans (Oppenheimer 3). It is evident that he was not aware of what was socially acceptable in
society being that he was merely 10 years old. Considering that much time has passed, by reflecting
back to his past self, he is able to realize that dressing this way could have touched many sensitive
areas of cultural appropriating a race. As there are no specific set of standards established in society,
individuals follow and adhere to what is presented in front of them. It is utterly challenging for all
individuals to identify what is permitted in society despite the diversity in ethnic groups and age.
While the youths are struggling to find the perfect balance to avoid cultural appropriating a group, it is
also difficult for adults to distinguish the difference. To advise the individuals in recognizing the
difference in regards to the significance of certain Halloween costumes, Oppenheimer utilizes an
appeal to authority with an Yale scholar and former preschool teacher, Erika Christakis. It is ideal that,

Characteristics Of The Knight In The Canterbury Tales
Although some knights were depicted as being selfish and careless about others, there were some
knights who were depicted as possessing heroic qualities such as strength, courage, selflessness, and
many more.
The Knight in The Canterbury Tales, by Geoffrey Chaucer, is one example of a knight who possesses
heroic qualities. There was a Knight a most distinguished man, who from the day on which he first
began to ride abroad had followed chivalry, truth, honour, and generousness and courtesy (Chaucer 4).
The Knight is a generous and courteous man and fights with honor and fidelity, as a hero should. The
narrator in The Canterbury Tales also calls the Knight wise and a ... true, perfect gentle knight
(Chaucer 5). Not only was he a gentle Knight, but a strong Knight as well because of the various
battles he participated in. These traits that the Knight possessed that the narrator in The Canterbury
Tales seems to fond over are reminiscent of a true hero. A hero is said to be strong, kind, brave,
selfless, and loyal. The Knight fits this description almost perfectly. The Knight is not the only knight
in the Middle Ages that was depicted as being a hero.
Lancelot, although possessing some antiheroic traits, possessed qualities of a hero as well. In The
Knight of the Cart, at the beginning of Lancelot s quest to save Guinevere, he runs into a dwarf who is
riding the shaft of a cart. He asks the dwarf if he has seen Guinevere at all, but the dwarf does not give
him any information and instead tells him to get in the cart and he will know by morning of what
happened to Guinevere. Riding a cart during those times was not a good thing. The cart was for all
criminals alike, for all traitors and murders... the guilty person was taken and made to mount in the
cart... he had lost all his feudal rights and never heard at court (Troyes 211). At first, Lancelot
hesitated for a couple of seconds, but then he decided to ride in the cart, knowing the repercussions of
doing it. This shows Lancelot as a selfless individual because he was focused on rescuing Guinevere.
Lancelot sacrificed his reputation for Guinevere. By stressing how shameful it is to ride in the cart,
Chrétien thereby stresses how noble it is of Lancelot to so

How Did Alice Become A Vampire
Alice let her ice blue eyes sweep over the crowded room before her gaze fell upon the Master
Vampires. She needed air. Needed a way to escape this stuffy crowded ballroom before she went
insane. Dropping her gaze back onto the group she stood with, Alice took a small step back before
turning on the heel of her shoe, then vanishing into the crowd. Placing her empty wine glass down on
a passing tray, Alice stopped one last time, before pushing the glass door open that led onto the
balcony. A rush of cold air blasted her pale angelic face, and a small fanged smile appeared as she
slipped through the crack, and into the night. Sitting on the edge of the stone balcony, she let her ice
blue eyes sweep over the foggy castle gardens. Fog around the castle was common, and it took her a
long time to get used to it. Though she was a vampire, fog for some unknown reason made her slightly
uneasy. Even before she became immortal, fog normally scared her, and she rarely liked to be in it.
Since becoming a vampire, Alice still had great distaste for the fog, but as long as she wasn t in it then
she was able to just deal with it. Perhaps she has read one to many ghost stories back in the day or

Supply Chain Management Of Supply Chains
Introduction
With the acceleration of global economic integration, the 21st century has become the century of
competition in the supply chain, not just a simple competition between enterprises. In order to win the
competition in the supply chain, which means it must be through the management of the supply chain.
Currently supply chains become more integrated, more global, the high speed development of
information technology has become an important driving force. In this report will explore the
development of supply chain management technologies and important role.
Supply chain and technologies role
Supply chain is the logistic network among suppliers, manufacturing centers, warehouses, distribution
centers, retail and customers. It is about the flow and inventory of raw materials, manufactured goods
and fished goods. The core logistics supply chain management is to satisfy customer needs. In order to
meet requirements it is necessary to minimize enterprises operating cost. It can make enterprises more

Analysis of a Story in the Newspaper
Introduction
News media investigate, analyze, and report to stakeholder publics on issues and event s that occur
around the globe in a twenty four hour, 365 day news cycle (Richard,2007:98). Because of the way
news media works, we know what is happening in the world and we can have connection to other
places. With new media arising, the information transmission process become even faster. Though
new media is getting more prevalent, still, a considerable amount of people rely on one of the
traditional news media newspaper.
Facing the competition, the way news reported may change as newspapers need to maintain large
circulation figures to stay profitable (Bignell 1997:83). This directly affects how news is presented. To

But while the Nautilus is attacked by a bunch of squid, Nemo does his best to fend them off. He even
puts his life on the line to save Ned Land, but he cannot prevent one of his own crew members from
being killed. After that He breaks down and cries. That part in the book really shows us that Nemo is
capable of caring for the new people, it shows us that under the crusty exterior Captain Nemo is a real
softie. His serious bitterness is quite off putting at the beginning of the book. It makes you wonder
what had to have happened to make him the way that he is. It may have been due to the fact that his
wife and children got killed, it may have been because of untold reasons, his childhood, bad
experiences with life itself, or a job failure. Either way it shows us that we, as humans can change just
by spending time and investing in people.
While reading 20,000 leagues under the sea I found myself wondering about how nice it would be to
just go somewhere no one has been before and start again. Maybe Nemo was just tired of his everyday
life where there were rules and expectations. He might have felt like there was nothing to stay for so
he left to see the unknown depths of the ocean. I believe that its human nature to be curious of what
we are unsure of. Captain Nemo seemed like a person that pushes his, and everybody else s

The Wages For Equal Wages
Mind the (Pay) Gap Men in Travis Country, and all over the United States, are almost always paid
higher wages than their female coworkers for doing the same work. Women have been fighting for
equal rights and equal pay since the 19th century and it is about time women and men doing the same
job are paid the same amount. The solution to this is simple: pay women and men equal wages for
equal work. This would seem to be common sense, but it is still something we are fighting for. Census
data shows median yearly income for men in Travis County is approximately $10,000 higher than for
women (kxan.com). Freda Bryson, a Texas State doctoral student and equal pay advocate said, When I
go to buy food or groceries, I don t get a woman s discount, I pay the same thing as a male pays. So
why shouldn t my wages be the same? This quote should send a message: by paying women less than
men, many women simply cannot afford the same basic living expenses as men can. One in four
households with children is headed by a single woman (austincf.org). If a single mom is making
significantly less than a man doing the same work, it is almost impossible to provide a child with a life
above the poverty level. Many women in Travis County are living more than 100% below the line of
poverty, and over half of these women have children to take care of as well. How can you take care of
a child if you cannot even afford to take care of yourself? The gender pay gap is unacceptable and
changes needs to be

Investment Decision and Cash Flows
INVESTMENT DECISION AND CASH FLOWS A positive net present value (NPV) is a direct
estimate of value creation for shareholders and is an operational way of carrying through on the
strategy of trying to maximize shareholder wealth. To calculate NPV, however we need to estimate the
cash costs and benefits of any decision at hand. In this note we discuss the evaluation of investment
proposals.
Cash Flows: Basic Concepts The cash flows that we will use in our analysis are incremental after tax
cash flows. The incremental cash flow rule is that the cash flows relevant in analyzing an investment
opportunity are those after tax cash flows and only those after tax cash flows directly attributable to
the investment. The words incremental, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Zippo plans to depreciate (straight line) the building and equipment to a book value of zero by the end

Zippo s projected annual operating flows for the new facility based on a 40% tax rate. Note that Table

proposed facility.

Eye Motif in Night by Elie Wiesel
The Soul s Mirror Eyes have guided mankind throughout all history, whether they allowed us to
foresee danger or helped us find our loved ones. They have granted us sight over what would
otherwise be invisible to us. When looking at someone, one can tell how they are feeling by staring
into his or her eyes. Our eyes never lie. Our eyes will often mirror our souls and display our true inner
emotions. In Elie Wiesel s autobiographical narrative, Night, he uses the eye motif to portray
characters true souls. In some parts of the narrative, Night, Wiesel used eyes to display the hope and
positive emotion in characters. In the beginning of the story, eyes were used as an indication of Moche
the Beadle s calmness in the following quote. I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His eyes show he is still alive, but his soul s essence is dimmed and now weak; he is near death. The
following event happens before a selection and Akiba Drumer instantly gives up hope. Suddenly his
eyes would become blank, nothing but two open wounds, two pits of terror (Wiesel 82). While Akiba
may still be physically alive, his eyes show how his soul is now dead and overwhelmed by terror; he is
now a mere walking corpse. Elie and his father are seeking shelter from the frozen temperature in the
brick factory in the next scene. His eyes were petrified, his lips withered, decayed (Wiesel 94). Elie s
father s eyes show how he has been reduced to a brittle stone that is about to crack. Elie Wiesel used
eyes as a motif in his narrative, Night, as windows to characters inner souls. He used eyes to assist the
theme of surviving at all costs throughout the story by giving the audience an insight of people s true
emotions and status. Without eyes, we would have been blind to see past characters outer layers of
fake emotion. There is more than the eye can see. One has to look deep into another s eyes to see the
true light or darkness within them.

Essay on Analysis of Seamus Heaney s North
Analysis of Seamus Heaney s North
The poet Keats wrote that the only means of strengthening one s intellect is to make up one s own
mind about nothing to let the mind be a thoroughfare for all thought, not a select body . That this may
be an admirable aim for a poet, and especially so for one writing against a background of ethnic
violence, is not in doubt. It is, however, extremely difficult to remain neutral when one identifies
oneself with an ethnic party involved in conflict. It is my intention, then, in this essay, to document
how Seamus Heaney s reaction to violence in his homeland has affected his writings, with particular
reference to the volume of poetry entitled North . This volume first appeared in 1975, a year after the

Reading these last two stanzas of the poem, it is not difficult to understand why it caused outrage upon
its publication. To even the most liberal of readers it surely must seem that the poet is in league with
those who tar and feather women merely for having friends from the wrong side . One can accept that
a casual onlooker may not risk life and limb to intervene to aid a stranger; what one finds much more
difficult to accept is that Heaney, on seeing young women tarred and weeping, understands the ...
tribal, intimate revenge . This is poetry as catharsis. Although adultery and dating British soldiers are
obviously two different things, they are both activities which occur outside the tribe. The sense of
tribalism is present throughout and is presented as an inescapable and timeless pattern. Throughout the
poem Heaney has apologetically distanced himself from violence, always ...the artful voyeur . This
poem tells us much in relation to Heaney s stance on the violence in Northern Ireland. He certainly
identifies with it, as we see in the poet s inclusion of himself in the first line where I can feel... and
indeed how could he not for he was surrounded by it. His attitude, as already stated, seems to be that it
is merely part of an inevitable cycle

Learning To Drive
Many young people learn to drive as soon as they re old enough. Having a car is a huge freedom you
can go wherever you like whenever you like. Not only that, but many jobs require that you have a car
or at least hold a driving license so that you can run errands or go to see clients.
Like any sort of learning, everyone is different. Some people are taught how to drive by their parents
or by a friend, in the family car. The advantage of this is that it s free, but a big disadvantage is that
you re not being taught by a trained professional. Driving instructor s cars also have dual controls so
that if the new driver does anything dangerous, the instructor can control the car. This is very
important if you ve never been behind the wheel of a car before, so new drivers might feel that they
want to have lessons first, and then only practice with their parents once they re more confident. ...

Many people find that two hour lessons are better, especially if they live a long way from the test area.
It s important to drive in traffic as you may encounter lots of traffic on your test, and being able to
handle this is critical.
A third option for learning to drive is to take an intensive course. These normally promise to teach you
to drive in as little as a month, so you drive every day as well as taking theory lessons. At the end of
this course you will take a driving test, and the idea is that you ve learned quickly enough to pass.
These courses can also save you money because you just pay for a set number of lessons. Sometimes
it can be difficult to tell if you re ready to take the test, but with an intensive course you know exactly
when your test will be.

The Mark Of A Great Spiritual Leader
THE MARK OF A GREAT SPIRITUAL LEADER: JOHN HEMBREE (student at FBC of Tampa) 12
15 2015 OUTLINE: 1). THE RIGHT FOUNDATION 2). DEDICATION 3). DISCIPLINE AND
ENERGY 4). DEPENDENCE 5). PURPOSE AND VISION 6). INFLUENCE OF PEOPLE 7).
PERSONAL MEANING AND APPLICATION A great spiritual leader must first be built upon a
foundation. The foundation for every great spiritual giant of faith must first be faith in Jesus Christ.
There has been many great leaders throughout the course of history but to effect what is of eternal
spiritual importance a leader must first stand by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone. All else is
meaningless and pointless in reference to eternity without this foundation. Clarity on the gospel of
grace is imperative to have a proper spiritual perspective and balance and to have a work that makes a
mark for eternity. A mark of a great leader is then to build upon that foundation by dedication to
excellence of service. Anything worth doing is worth doing well. Every leader should expect nothing
less than excellence from those he leads. This pursuit of excellence must be based on the hearing and
doing of God s Word. In my own personal walk with the Lord, it is not enough just to be a hearer of
God s Word but to put God s Word to practical use in my life by obedience. A great leader must be a
great example and servant. There is no room for pride in the Christian life especially for a leader. Pride
is the first sin mentioned in the list

Using Wireless Sensor Networks, Load Balance, Sensor...
Abstract The efficiency of sensor networks depends on the coverage of the target area. Although, in
general, a sufficient number of sensors are used to ensure a certain degree of redundancy in coverage,
a good sensor deployment method is still necessary to balance the workload of sensors in target area.
In a sensor network sensors can move around to self deploy. The deployment deals with moving
sensors from an initial unbalanced state to balanced state. Therefore, several optimization problems
can be defined to minimize different parameters such as total moving distance, number of moves,
communication cost. There is a unique problem called communication holes in sensor networks, areas
not covered by any node.
In this paper, we will work mainly to detect and remove communication hole in a heterogeneous
wireless sensor network. For this we will study the existing techniques. Finding an efficient
deployment that modifies the existing techniques.
Keywords Wireless sensor networks, load balance, sensor deployment, holes.

Lessons from a Third World Perspective on Environmentalism
Possibly more than any of the other articles we have read so far,
Ramachandra Guha s article Radical Environmentalism and Wilderness
Preservation: A Third World Critique made me think. In analyzing the
Western deep ecology movement, he criticized its focus on preservation of
wild areas. By doing this, he was directly criticizing what I have long
thought of as my main goal as an environmentalist. One of the first
things that turned me on to environmental issues when I was younger was my
horror at the soaring rate of rainforest destruction so dramatically
portrayed to us in 9th grade biology class. Since then, by following a
biology track ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But reading the article, I was struck by
what we can learn from each other and from where we overlap.
Guha s article critiqued the four main tenants of deep ecology
(which are, as he sees them,: a shift from anthropocentric to biocentric
ethics, a focus on preservation of wilderness, an invocation of Eastern
spiritual traditions, and a perception of being the vanguard of current
environmentalism) in order to show that, as is, deep ecology would only
meet its goals at the expense of the Third World. He gave the example of
Project Tiger in India, in which Western preservationists organizations
encouraged the designation of a network of parks to preserve the tiger s
habitat but only by moving whole villages of people and prohibiting them
from using the land (272). Of course, this type of conflict between
protecting the habitat of an endangered species and letting the land be
used by locals does not only occur in Third World contexts it is a common
debate, including of course the famous Spotted Owl example within our own
country.
Although it seems clear that a conflict between anthropocentric and
biocentric world views is at work here, Guha claims that the dichotomy is
useless (271). I have also seen it as somewhat problematic, even from my
own biological

An Art Movement And Marcel Duchamp
Dada, be definition, was not an art movement and Marcel Duchamp was by the same definition not an
artist. As a man who loved great comedy and clever wit, Duchamp was a man who loved to take a
tradition and challenge others to think beyond it s conventional definition. The Bride Stripped Bare By
Her Bachelors, Even is one of Duchamp s more famous pieces that wholly illustrates the idea that art
can be created entirely by accident.
Marcel Duchamp was born in the Upper Normandy region of France to Eugene and Lucie Duchamp
on July 28, 1887. His family was an incredibly cultured one. Aside from the art of painter and
engraver Emile Nicolle filling the house, the family enjoyed playing chess, reading books, painting
and making music together. Four out of his seven brothers and sisters actually became successful
artists. At 8, Duchamp followed in his brothers footsteps and left home to begin schooling at the Lycée
Pierre Corneille a school run by Jesuits to educate children of the aristocracy and bourgeoisie.
Duchamp attended the school for eight years where he was locked into an educational routine that
focused on intellectual development and academic excellence. He himself was not a spectacular
student but he thoroughly enjoyed mathematics and even won two prizes in the subject. But Duchamp
received the most important prize for a drawing in 1904 at his commencement. He used this moment
to validate his decently recent decision to become an artist

Degree In Nursing
Nurses need many different job skills in order to succeed within this profession. Attention to detail is
important due to the fact that he or she will help doctors operate, administer medication, and work

professionals work with a range of patients, from those who are healthy (and are proactively trying to

A H R diagram plots a star s luminosity against its temperature or color. The vertical axis is the stars
luminosity relative to the sun (1 L0 is the luminosity of our sun) and the horizontal axis plots the

10. Compute inventory turnover for 2012 using the inventory figures as reported and your adjusted
figures. Which ratio provides the most reliable measure of Nash Finch s inventory turnover and why?
(Formula: cost of goods sold/average ending inventory.)
The inventory turnover for 2012 with original figures is 4,429,329/335,574 = 13.20.
The inventory turnover for 2012 with adjusted figures is 4,338,629/424,574 = 10.22.
The adjusted figures inventory turnover is more accurate for Nash Finch because it includes the real
amounts of inventory being held. The adjusted average inventory is much higher compared to the
original figures. COGS are also affected by the change in adjusted inventory, but the change is not as
great to the numerator for the ratio.

telling the story of the five kings of the south. The division of conquered lands is explained by
mentioning that territories were represented by the tribes responsible for the conquering. Tullock then
discusses how the Canaanite religion greatly influenced the developing Israelite religion, and a reason
for the influence is due to the greater population associated with the Canaanites. From this point on,
Tullock discusses the famous judges and the themes seen throughout the book of Judges. Tullock

Euclid of Alexandira
Euclid of Alexandria is commonly attributed to be the Father of Geometry and one of the most
influential mathematicians of all time. Very little is known about his personal life because records
from his era rarely survived. His estimated birth and death dates are 325 B.C. and 265 B.C. There s no
real consensus on whether he was greek or egyptian. Some people believed he was educated at Plato s
Academy, but his life and work didn t take place in Greece. He moved to Alexandria, Egypt ten years
after the city was founded and by then, Alexander the Great had already passed away. Euclid
supposedly lived in Alexandria during the time of the first Ptolemy. The only thing certain about
Euclid s life was that he taught in Alexandria after Plato but before Archimedes of Syracuse (Bruno
129). During Euclid s life, King Ptolemy started a research institute called the Museum. Euclid was
one of the first scholars to be associated with the Museum and he taught mathematics there (O
Connor). Euclid was completely devoted to mathematics and his teachings. Euclid s most important
contribution to humanity is his Elements, which is probably the most influential textbook in history

basis of elementary geometry. The Elements has thirteen books, with each book made up of theorems

With logos and ethos effectively created, Churchill broadens his speech to fit a bigger audience: the
entirety of Great Britain. In a total war, the home front must be entirely united to continue to fight and
fund a war effort, and Churchill appeals to unity and patriotism. He asks the people of Britain to give
what Churchill himself will be offering blood, toil, tears, and sweat (32). If the Prime Minister can
give his everything to fight in the war, it encourages the audience to want to participate as well.
Churchill continues to appeal to unity through his use of words like we and our to unite the country
with the government as they fight for one cause. By creating a team , they can effectively rally the
audience into action. The public opinion may believe that the Germans are unstoppable, but Winston s
emotionally charged words that with total effort and war from all fronts with the support of God, the

victory at all costs; victory in spirt of all terror, victory, however long and hard the road may be; for
without victory, there is no survival (38 40). By bringing the risk of destruction of the country should
they fail, it further persuades the audience to want to give their all so they can win the war. After riling

Best Weight Loss Supplements Research
There are almost always more questions for those of us who want to and need to lose weight than
answers. Which supplements will give me the fastest results? The best weight loss pills are which
ones? For the millions of people who need to lose weight these are two of the most important
questions they ask. There would not be a billion plus dollar industry related to losing weight and
getting fit if there were easy answers. What would be the best answer to these questions? The
supplements which produce the best results for me. That may seem like too easy of an answer.
However, this is the answer we are all looking to find.
Medications can cause dissimilar reactions for different people because we re not all alike. The DNA
makeup of our bodies, although similar in basic structure, can be vastly different. The best weight loss
pills that work for you may not necessarily work for me because of these differences. A good example
of this would be the effects of caffeine on siblings. Take me and my brother, for instance, caffeine can
affect him in such a way that it assists him in staying awake for long periods of time, and helping him
focus on projects that he s working on. However, it has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This does not necessarily mean they are safe. For instance, a naturally occurring element that would
be considered natural is a toxic poison known as arsenic. Arsenic is not safe to ingest even if it is
natural.
There can be very good results with either prescription weight loss pills or over the counter weight
loss pills. However, we should be aware of the risks involved when using them. At least you have
medical supervision available to monitor your progress when using those in the prescription category.
This may make it safer to use supplements in the prescription category as you ll be mitigating some of
the risk

Examples Of A Commemorative Speech In The Great Gatsby
Sanjana: Hello everyone! This is the Early Morning Show, and I m your host Kara. Today we re
paying tribute to Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald and will remember him and his work by watching an
interview from 78 years ago, that to place in this very building. Before we start I d like to say that
Francis was a creative man, and died of a heart attack while writing what would soon be his last piece
of work, The Last Tycoon.
Sanjana: Hello. I m Sanjana and This is The Early Morning Show. Today we re accompanied by the
one and only, F.Scott Fitzgerald, the author of the classic novel The Great Gatsby. Hello Mr.Fitzgerald.

It starts off with the Narrator, Nick Carraway, moving next door to a wealthy and mysterious man, Jay
Gatsby. Jay happens to be living across the lake from his ex lover, and Nick s second cousin, Daisy.
Daisy and Jay were together until she left him, for he wasn t wealthy enough, and later married
another man after Jay went to war. Daisy and Tom begin to have an affair and when Tom, Daisy s
husband, finds out everyone starts yelling at each other and Daisy and Jay leave and drive off. Daisy,
feeling an immense amount of emotions, accidentally runs over and kills Tom s mistress, Myrtle.
Myrtle s husband, George, believes that Jay had killed his wife and shoots Jay in the head, leaving him
dead in a swimming pool.
Sanjana: Why do you think that so many people think of The Great Gatsby and think a classic ?
Eshani: Classics are debatable and are opinions that we grow up with that sooner or later turn into
facts. To me, classics are novels that can relate to your children, grandchildren, great grandchildren,
and so on so forth. The Great Gatsby is about hardships and how sometimes life doesn t go as planned
but how you must continue living. A classic is a story written in the past that lasts throughout time and
relates to everyone is some way, and that is exactly what makes The Great Gatsby a classic novel.
Sanjana: I ve heard that you ve written many books.

Gerald Graff Hidden Intellectualism Summary
Goodman 6
Richard Goodman
English Comp II
Mrs. Cravens
21 February 2018
Audience in Mind What makes a good writer? Many people have differing opinions on what makes a
person a good writer, or the standard in which one can write. One of the main things to remember
about writing is to always keep your audience in mind, and adjust you writing style and language
accordingly. Also remember that writing is process which takes time to perfect. English has never
been one of my favorite subjects, mainly just because I never really consider myself to be a good
writer and by the normal standard I may not be. In a sense though, I found contrary to my belief that
my writing wasn t all that bad. Now it took time for me to see that for myself, because ... Show more

There some people that are incredibly street smart but do not fair so well in school but in Gerald Graff
s Hidden Intellectualism Graff argues that street smarts are just as important as book smarts. Graff
says that It is a matter of finding points of convergence and translation, moments when student
discourse can be translated into academic discourse and vice versa, producing a kind of bilingualism
on both sides of the student teacher divide (Graff, Hidden Intellectualism). In other words, for a
student with street smarts to learn to read academically, students need to read things that interest them,
encouraging them to dive into their reading, forming an opinion and arguing their point. When you
think about it this does makes sense, you can t get that student to read more intellectual readings
without first starting with something that interest them and then let them naturally move toward more
intellectual reading. I myself was this way in high school, I was always uninterested in the required
readings. Many times, failed to even read them and when I did it was just to get a grade. I never really
formed my own opinion of the reading, except for the fact that I just didn t like it. However, when we
could pick our own reading material, something that interested me, I was more drawn in and able to
form my own opinion, caring about what I was reading. By doing so this allows students with street
smarts, to not only become drawn toward the more intellectual reading, it will get to a point where
they want to argue their points and form their own opinions. The question though is being street smart
better than book smart, and in my opinion, this can be situational, depending on what you are doing
would determine which one is better but when coupled they work well together. In writing which
would you rather have, someone who can express their opinion, and

A Report On Summit Electronic Supply
1. Summit Electronic Supply was in need of new systems that could mend some of their unique
business process problems. Summit s line of business involves being the distributor of electronics
equipment to electrical contractors, giving the company a high volume of transactions and inventory
turnover (Laudon, 2013). The most important processes for Summit included stock keeping units and
order transactions. As a distributer, Summit s main concern was to fulfill its orders on time. To do so,
Summit needed to have meticulous records of the location and availability of its products. Summit
sold a high volume of cable and wires that were hard to keep track of. Since these materials were sold
in lengths, (e.g. 500 feet of cable), it was vital to keep track of exactly how much inventory was left.
Another important process of Summit were its sales chargebacks. Sales chargebacks are when a
supplier sells a higher wholesaler price to the distributor than the price the distributor had set with the
retail customer (Laudon, 2013). Keeping track of chargebacks was vital to the company as it ensured
that no extra revenue was lost. Another important business process for Summit was its warehouse
accommodations. Summit would set up temporary warehouses to supply large customers with long
term job sites (Laudon, 2013).
2. Summit s outdated legacy system made it very difficult for the company to continue its
performance. First, the company s old system made it nearly

Authority in Portnoy s Complaint by Philip Roth Essay
Aristotle said, We are what we repeatedly do. In the case of Alexander Portnoy he was doomed to
repeat his mistakes and continue to feel the guilt lain upon him at every turn by his parents, his lovers
and himself. Their overpowering nature kept him a perpetual child and his efforts to seize the
opportunity to be the authority in each relationship left him more frustrated and eager to control the
downward spiral he called life.
At the base of his family was Judaism. Their identity was firmly rooted in their religion. To Alex all he
saw when he looked in the mirror or at other kids, at the furniture in people s homes, the way they
spoke, was Jewish and not Jewish. His facial features and his name became sources of ... Show more

This confusion led to fear that if his mother found anything slightly out of the ordinary she would
throw him out of the house, no longer calling Alex her son. Secrecy veiled most of his adolescence
because he didn t have the courage to be himself in front of his mother.
Parental styles are also the basis for the child s self perception. Parents with a high controlling and low
responsive pattern are labeled authoritarian. The Portnoy s offered little feedback as to why they were
disappointed in him, leaving Alex more confused when he was relentlessly punished for letting down
his mother. He recognized the severity of his mother s expectations for him. He had overheard her tell
her friends that he is suddenly such a bad eater I have to stand over him with a knife. Such an extreme
statement justified Alex s decision to keep normal adolescent milestones, like his fondness for
masturbation, away from his mother s judgment. This added to his shame and he continued to hide his
new obsession, making his mother more suspicious. With little understanding of a child s mind, she
unwittingly turned Alex into her greatest nemesis, constantly battling for control in what could have
been a stable relationship.
While his mother laid the groundwork for Alex s dysfunction, his father provided a look at the life he
did not want. He saw that

Water Fiji Research Paper
WATER
Fiji, Dasani, and Zephyrhills
Emily Brynn Davison
Lake Butler Elementary School
Abstract
Fiji, Dasani, Zephyrhills
In my project I put different brands of water into identical cups and ask my participants to put them in
order from best to worst after trying each one. I hope to learn if manufacturing water a different way
affects the taste of the water. I wanted to do this project, because when you think about water you don
t think about different kinds of water so this project opens your mind to just a daily need.
Fiji Water. Fiji water is a popular brand of water that takes a specific process. The water is from rain
that has been filtered through layers of volcanic rock and slowly gathering the natural minerals and
electrolytes that give Fiji water a soft, smooth taste. (Fiji Water official website) After being filtered
the water gathers in a natural artesian aquifer that is deeply underground in the Fiji Islands so the
water won t be contaminated with elements. The rainfalls are also purified by the winds that travel
across the Island, because unlike most winds these don t carry any acid rain and environmental
pollutants (https://www.leaf.tv/articles/facts about fiji water/). It is never touched by human hands,
which shows that Fiji s water is clean and stays clean because bacteria from hands is never transferred
to the water. Fiji s Nutritional Label says it s 93mg of silica per liter, 18mg of calcium per liter, 15mg
of magnesium per liter, 152mg of salt. This all adds to a pH of 7.7, which means Fiji water is filled
with oxygen (altered states.net). The human body is suppose to have around 7.0 to a 7.4pH balance.
The effects of a low pH balance ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

  • 2. Sarah Imeinu Research Paper There are four great women of the Pentateuch, but I think Sarah is the greatest of all. The following is the main background information about Sarah. Sarah Imeinu is the wife of Abraham and Mother of the Jewish Nation. Sarah was the first matriarch, and Abraham was the first patriarch (father), of our Jewish people. She was born and raised from the city of Ur, Kasdim, the Sumerian city of Ur. Sarah s early life consists of many different names for herself. As a young girl, she was originally known as Yisach (Jessica), which means to see. She is said to have been born blessed with divine inspiration. She was exceedingly beautiful, so her original name reflected her beauty. She was a prophetess and had the ability to see into the future. The most impressive thing about Sarah to me was her popularity, power, and strength. Siftei Chachamim, a famed 17th century Torah commentator, wrote that Sarah s level of prophecy was actually superior to that of Abraham. It is said that Sarah was such a powerful prophetess that God spoke to her directly, while to the others he spoke through a messenger. She was entirely free of sin, and she was exceptionally modest. One event that changed Sarah s life was her giving birth to Isaac. God made a covenant with Abraham. This was that his wife (Sarah) would conceive a son. The couple both laughed at this promise. God s covenant come true and Sarah gave birth to a son named Isaac. His name is ironic because it means ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Nowadays, the therapies that use non ionising radiation and are available for clinical use lie on the thermal effects of low frequency electromagnetic waves, from radio frequencies to optical frequencies. Hyperthermia and thermal ablation are currently used to treat various types of cancers, either by killing the cancerous cells or by locally and selectively enhancing the efficiency of chemotherapeutic drugs and radiation treatment. Hyperthermia treatment elevates the tissue temperature between 40 °C and 45 °C, for altering the functional and structural properties of enzymatic proteins that make tumour more sensitive to radiation and chemotherapy. However, the complexity and heterogeneity of human brain structure and mechanisms, such as nerve stimulation, blood circulation and homeostasis, complicates the effort for predicting the temperature rise and distribution generated by one or multiple electromagnetic sources inside the brain tissue. Nevertheless, it is of high importance to monitor and control the temperature changes during these procedures in order to minimise the severe side effects of elevated brain temperatures for long durations. To this end, non invasive techniques that exhibit enhanced sensitivity and specificity thermometric are required for spatial and real time temperature monitoring. Nanotechnology offers enhanced localisation of treatment delivery to brain diseased sites, including hyperthermia, thermal ablation, as well as chemotherapeutic drug delivery and gene therapy. • 4. Gregory Nav A Mexican Filmmaker Who Was Born Essay Gregory Nava is a Mexican filmmaker who was born on April 10, 1949, in San Diego California. As a former UCLA alumni, Nava has produced several racially and culturally charged films that often break new grounds such as, El Norte, Mi Familia, and Bordertown. Thus, Nava dedicates his filmmaking career to give his audience a distinct point of view which is the central thread of his films and that which encompasses the Latino culture, experience, and their unjust treatment in America as oppressed minorities; with the hope of counteracting false stereotypes, misconceptions, promoting education, compassion, and acceptance of minorities. Nava does this by redefining the traditional labels of who the insiders and outsiders of society are, he also puts Latinos in the position of subjects through whose eyes the audience, experience plots, and who speak for themselves instead of being perceived voyeuristically by characters from outside the Latino community, and by incorporating what Nava describes as dream realism aspects to his films (Johnson, 2009). Nava s $750,000 independent film, El Norte depicts the story of a Guatemalan brother and his sister s harrowing odyssey to the United States that includes a memorable grueling crawl through a rat infested tunnel and their struggles to adapt to their new life in Los Angeles (Johnson, 2009, p.1). This quote can be applied to many different situations throughout history, but in the context of the novel, Things Fall Apart, the quote refers to renowned Nigerian author, Chinua Achebe, recounting the story of the Ibo people and their oppression. Achebe assumes the role of the lions historian by exhibiting the richness of the Ibo culture and showing its destruction by the colonialism of the late nineteenth century. The people of Umuofia have a complex and unique system of religion and government. While most other civilizations in the world have an easily distinguishable line between religion and government, the religion and government of the Ibo are intertwined. The Ibo people worship a deity known as Agbala, the goddess of the earth; however, Agbala can only be heard through Chielo, the voice of the Oracle. The people of Umuofia are led by a chief council called the egwugwu who rely on advice from Agbala to govern the village. Anatomy Of The Pulmonary, Coronaries And Veins Anatomy Of The pulmonary, Coronaries and aorta arteries Gross anatomy The heart and great vessels are roughly in the middle of the thorax, being surrounded laterally and posteriorly by the lungs and anteriorly by the sternum and the central part of the thoracic cage. The heart acts a twofold, self modifying suction and pressure pump, the parts of which work in union to push blood to all parts of the body. The right half of the heart (right heart) gets ineffectively oxygenated (venous) blood from the body via the SVC and IVC and pumps it through the pulmonary trunk to the lungs for oxygenation. • 9. Defining Naturalness And Its Impact On The Environment IV. Defining Naturalness Another potential, but overall less effective, goal for conservation is naturalness, which is also defined differently across the literature. Crumpacker (1998) describes three components of naturalness, two of which the author argues are quantifiable. The first part of naturalness is the degree to which the system would change if humans were removed (Crumpacker 1998). The next two components of naturalness are the amount of cultural energy that is required to maintain the currently existing system and the number of native species that currently live in the system in comparison to the abundance of species that lived in the area prior to European settlement (Crumpacker 1998). Anderson (1991) describes naturalness as a continuum between complete naturalness, which would be an ecosystem virtually unaffected by humans, and complete unnaturalness, which would be an environment that is completely influenced by humans, such as a city. This scale of naturalness is established by assessing the extent to which ecosystems have been modified by humans and how much a damaged ecosystem would recover if humans were removed (Anderson 1991). Ridder (2007) also addresses two interpretations of naturalness that are similar to the definitions proposed by Anderson (1991). One interpretation by Ridder (2007) is that naturalness refers to processes that do not involve human intervention, which is similar to the spontaneous condition of nature that would exist in the ... • 12. Argumentative Essay On Halloween Costumes In recent years, Halloween costumes have created controversy because they touch on the issue of cultural appropriation. Children are simply not aware of how their costumes can unwittingly offend certain cultures or ethnic groups, and parents are also often unsure as to which costume ideas qualify as culturally respectful . In the LA Times opinion editorial, On Halloween, parents have no choice but to wade into fraught cultural politics, Oppenheimer argues that picking a Halloween costume is a challenging task with many grey areas as to what is considered offensive to various religious or ethnic groups who are often the inspiration behind Halloween costumes. He asserts that all individuals should take care to avoid culturally appropriating, but that there are also grey areas in costume choice where appropriation isn t as clearly defined. In order to illustrate the nuanced challenge of picking costumes, Oppenheimer utilizes an anecdote to show how societal values have changed within his lifetime. He shares, When I was 10, I was in love with a musical theater; if you d forced me to dress up for Halloween, I might have been chosen a character from Dreamgirls, a play about African Americans (Oppenheimer 3). It is evident that he was not aware of what was socially acceptable in society being that he was merely 10 years old. Considering that much time has passed, by reflecting back to his past self, he is able to realize that dressing this way could have touched many sensitive areas of cultural appropriating a race. As there are no specific set of standards established in society, individuals follow and adhere to what is presented in front of them. It is utterly challenging for all individuals to identify what is permitted in society despite the diversity in ethnic groups and age. While the youths are struggling to find the perfect balance to avoid cultural appropriating a group, it is also difficult for adults to distinguish the difference. To advise the individuals in recognizing the difference in regards to the significance of certain Halloween costumes, Oppenheimer utilizes an appeal to authority with an Yale scholar and former preschool teacher, Erika Christakis. • 17. Characteristics Of The Knight In The Canterbury Tales Although some knights were depicted as being selfish and careless about others, there were some knights who were depicted as possessing heroic qualities such as strength, courage, selflessness, and many more. The Knight in The Canterbury Tales, by Geoffrey Chaucer, is one example of a knight who possesses heroic qualities. There was a Knight a most distinguished man, who from the day on which he first began to ride abroad had followed chivalry, truth, honour, and generousness and courtesy (Chaucer 4). The Knight is a generous and courteous man and fights with honor and fidelity, as a hero should. The narrator in The Canterbury Tales also calls the Knight wise and a ... true, perfect gentle knight (Chaucer 5). Not only was he a gentle Knight, but a strong Knight as well because of the various battles he participated in. These traits that the Knight possessed that the narrator in The Canterbury Tales seems to fond over are reminiscent of a true hero. A hero is said to be strong, kind, brave, selfless, and loyal. The Knight fits this description almost perfectly. The Knight is not the only knight in the Middle Ages that was depicted as being a hero. Lancelot, although possessing some antiheroic traits, possessed qualities of a hero as well. In The Knight of the Cart, at the beginning of Lancelot s quest to save Guinevere, he runs into a dwarf who is riding the shaft of a cart. He asks the dwarf if he has seen Guinevere at all, but the dwarf does not give him any information and instead tells him to get in the cart and he will know by morning of what happened to Guinevere. Riding a cart during those times was not a good thing. The cart was for all criminals alike, for all traitors and murders... the guilty person was taken and made to mount in the cart... he had lost all his feudal rights and never heard at court (Troyes 211). At first, Lancelot hesitated for a couple of seconds, but then he decided to ride in the cart, knowing the repercussions of doing it. This shows Lancelot as a selfless individual because he was focused on rescuing Guinevere. Lancelot sacrificed his reputation for Guinevere. The solution to this is simple: pay women and men equal wages for equal work. This would seem to be common sense, but it is still something we are fighting for. Census data shows median yearly income for men in Travis County is approximately $10,000 higher than for women (kxan.com). Freda Bryson, a Texas State doctoral student and equal pay advocate said, When I go to buy food or groceries, I don t get a woman s discount, I pay the same thing as a male pays. So why shouldn t my wages be the same? This quote should send a message: by paying women less than men, many women simply cannot afford the same basic living expenses as men can. One in four households with children is headed by a single woman (austincf.org). If a single mom is making significantly less than a man doing the same work, it is almost impossible to provide a child with a life above the poverty level. Many women in Travis County are living more than 100% below the line of poverty, and over half of these women have children to take care of as well. How can you take care of a child if you cannot even afford to take care of yourself? The gender pay gap is unacceptable and changes needs to be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They have granted us sight over what would otherwise be invisible to us. When looking at someone, one can tell how they are feeling by staring into his or her eyes. Our eyes never lie. Our eyes will often mirror our souls and display our true inner emotions. In Elie Wiesel s autobiographical narrative, Night, he uses the eye motif to portray characters true souls. In some parts of the narrative, Night, Wiesel used eyes to display the hope and positive emotion in characters. While Akiba may still be physically alive, his eyes show how his soul is now dead and overwhelmed by terror; he is now a mere walking corpse. Elie and his father are seeking shelter from the frozen temperature in the brick factory in the next scene. His eyes were petrified, his lips withered, decayed (Wiesel 94). Elie s father s eyes show how he has been reduced to a brittle stone that is about to crack. Elie Wiesel used eyes as a motif in his narrative, Night, as windows to characters inner souls. He used eyes to assist the theme of surviving at all costs throughout the story by giving the audience an insight of people s true emotions and status. Essay on Analysis of Seamus Heaney s North Analysis of Seamus Heaney s North The poet Keats wrote that the only means of strengthening one s intellect is to make up one s own mind about nothing to let the mind be a thoroughfare for all thought, not a select body . That this may be an admirable aim for a poet, and especially so for one writing against a background of ethnic violence, is not in doubt. It is, however, extremely difficult to remain neutral when one identifies oneself with an ethnic party involved in conflict. To even the most liberal of readers it surely must seem that the poet is in league with those who tar and feather women merely for having friends from the wrong side . This is poetry as catharsis. Although adultery and dating British soldiers are obviously two different things, they are both activities which occur outside the tribe. The sense of tribalism is present throughout and is presented as an inescapable and timeless pattern. DISCIPLINE AND ENERGY 4). DEPENDENCE 5). PURPOSE AND VISION 6). INFLUENCE OF PEOPLE 7). PERSONAL MEANING AND APPLICATION A great spiritual leader must first be built upon a foundation. The foundation for every great spiritual giant of faith must first be faith in Jesus Christ. There has been many great leaders throughout the course of history but to effect what is of eternal spiritual importance a leader must first stand by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone. All else is meaningless and pointless in reference to eternity without this foundation. Clarity on the gospel of grace is imperative to have a proper spiritual perspective and balance and to have a work that makes a mark for eternity. A mark of a great leader is then to build upon that foundation by dedication to excellence of service. Anything worth doing is worth doing well. Every leader should expect nothing less than excellence from those he leads. This pursuit of excellence must be based on the hearing and doing of God s Word. In my own personal walk with the Lord, it is not enough just to be a hearer of God s Word but to put God s Word to practical use in my life by obedience. A great leader must be a great example and servant. There is no room for pride in the Christian life especially for a leader. Pride is the first sin mentioned in the list ... Although, in general, a sufficient number of sensors are used to ensure a certain degree of redundancy in coverage, a good sensor deployment method is still necessary to balance the workload of sensors in target area. In a sensor network sensors can move around to self deploy. The deployment deals with moving sensors from an initial unbalanced state to balanced state. Therefore, several optimization problems can be defined to minimize different parameters such as total moving distance, number of moves, communication cost. There is a unique problem called communication holes in sensor networks, areas not covered by any node. In this paper, we will work mainly to detect and remove communication hole in a heterogeneous wireless sensor network. For this we will study the existing techniques. Sanjana: Why do you think that so many people think of The Great Gatsby and think a classic ? Eshani: Classics are debatable and are opinions that we grow up with that sooner or later turn into facts. To me, classics are novels that can relate to your children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and so on so forth. The Great Gatsby is about hardships and how sometimes life doesn t go as planned but how you must continue living. A classic is a story written in the past that lasts throughout time and relates to everyone is some way, and that is exactly what makes The Great Gatsby a classic novel. • 46. Gerald Graff Hidden Intellectualism Summary Goodman 6 Richard Goodman English Comp II Mrs. Cravens 21 February 2018 Audience in Mind What makes a good writer? Many people have differing opinions on what makes a person a good writer, or the standard in which one can write. One of the main things to remember about writing is to always keep your audience in mind, and adjust you writing style and language accordingly. Also remember that writing is process which takes time to perfect. English has never been one of my favorite subjects, mainly just because I never really consider myself to be a good writer and by the normal standard I may not be. In a sense though, I found contrary to my belief that my writing wasn t all that bad. Now it took time for me to see that for myself, because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There some people that are incredibly street smart but do not fair so well in school but in Gerald Graff s Hidden Intellectualism Graff argues that street smarts are just as important as book smarts. Graff says that It is a matter of finding points of convergence and translation, moments when student discourse can be translated into academic discourse and vice versa, producing a kind of bilingualism on both sides of the student teacher divide (Graff, Hidden Intellectualism). In other words, for a student with street smarts to learn to read academically, students need to read things that interest them, encouraging them to dive into their reading, forming an opinion and arguing their point. When you think about it this does makes sense, you can t get that student to read more intellectual readings without first starting with something that interest them and then let them naturally move toward more intellectual reading. I myself was this way in high school, I was always uninterested in the required readings. Many times, failed to even read them and when I did it was just to get a grade. I never really formed my own opinion of the reading, except for the fact that I just didn t like it. However, when we could pick our own reading material, something that interested me, I was more drawn in and able to form my own opinion, caring about what I was reading. By doing so this allows students with street smarts, to not only become drawn toward the more intellectual reading, it will get to a point where they want to argue their points and form their own opinions. The question though is being street smart better than book smart, and in my opinion, this can be situational, depending on what you are doing would determine which one is better but when coupled they work well together. In writing which would you rather have, someone who can express their opinion, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. A Report On Summit Electronic Supply 1. Summit Electronic Supply was in need of new systems that could mend some of their unique business process problems. Summit s line of business involves being the distributor of electronics equipment to electrical contractors, giving the company a high volume of transactions and inventory turnover (Laudon, 2013). The most important processes for Summit included stock keeping units and order transactions. As a distributer, Summit s main concern was to fulfill its orders on time. To do so, Summit needed to have meticulous records of the location and availability of its products. Summit sold a high volume of cable and wires that were hard to keep track of. Since these materials were sold in lengths, (e.g. 500 feet of cable), it was vital to keep track of exactly how much inventory was left. Another important process of Summit were its sales chargebacks. Sales chargebacks are when a supplier sells a higher wholesaler price to the distributor than the price the distributor had set with the retail customer (Laudon, 2013). Keeping track of chargebacks was vital to the company as it ensured that no extra revenue was lost. Another important business process for Summit was its warehouse accommodations. Summit would set up temporary warehouses to supply large customers with long term job sites (Laudon, 2013). 2. Summit s outdated legacy system made it very difficult for the company to continue its performance. First, the company s old system made it nearly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. Authority in Portnoy s Complaint by Philip Roth Essay Aristotle said, We are what we repeatedly do. In the case of Alexander Portnoy he was doomed to repeat his mistakes and continue to feel the guilt lain upon him at every turn by his parents, his lovers and himself. Their overpowering nature kept him a perpetual child and his efforts to seize the opportunity to be the authority in each relationship left him more frustrated and eager to control the downward spiral he called life. At the base of his family was Judaism. Their identity was firmly rooted in their religion. To Alex all he saw when he looked in the mirror or at other kids, at the furniture in people s homes, the way they spoke, was Jewish and not Jewish. His facial features and his name became sources of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This confusion led to fear that if his mother found anything slightly out of the ordinary she would throw him out of the house, no longer calling Alex her son. Secrecy veiled most of his adolescence because he didn t have the courage to be himself in front of his mother. Parental styles are also the basis for the child s self perception. Parents with a high controlling and low responsive pattern are labeled authoritarian. The Portnoy s offered little feedback as to why they were disappointed in him, leaving Alex more confused when he was relentlessly punished for letting down his mother. He recognized the severity of his mother s expectations for him. He had overheard her tell her friends that he is suddenly such a bad eater I have to stand over him with a knife. Such an extreme statement justified Alex s decision to keep normal adolescent milestones, like his fondness for masturbation, away from his mother s judgment. This added to his shame and he continued to hide his new obsession, making his mother more suspicious. With little understanding of a child s mind, she unwittingly turned Alex into her greatest nemesis, constantly battling for control in what could have been a stable relationship. While his mother laid the groundwork for Alex s dysfunction, his father provided a look at the life he did not want. He saw that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 49. Water Fiji Research Paper WATER Fiji, Dasani, and Zephyrhills Emily Brynn Davison Lake Butler Elementary School Abstract Fiji, Dasani, Zephyrhills In my project I put different brands of water into identical cups and ask my participants to put them in order from best to worst after trying each one. I hope to learn if manufacturing water a different way affects the taste of the water. I wanted to do this project, because when you think about water you don t think about different kinds of water so this project opens your mind to just a daily need. Fiji Water. Fiji water is a popular brand of water that takes a specific process. The water is from rain that has been filtered through layers of volcanic rock and slowly gathering the natural minerals and electrolytes that give Fiji water a soft, smooth taste. (Fiji Water official website) After being filtered the water gathers in a natural artesian aquifer that is deeply underground in the Fiji Islands so the water won t be contaminated with elements. The rainfalls are also purified by the winds that travel across the Island, because unlike most winds these don t carry any acid rain and environmental pollutants (https://www.leaf.tv/articles/facts about fiji water/). It is never touched by human hands, which shows that Fiji s water is clean and stays clean because bacteria from hands is never transferred to the water. Fiji s Nutritional Label says it s 93mg of silica per liter, 18mg of calcium per liter, 15mg of magnesium per liter, 152mg of salt. This all adds to a pH of 7.7, which means Fiji water is filled with oxygen (altered states.net). The human body is suppose to have around 7.0 to a 7.4pH balance. The effects of a low pH balance ...
