Holden Caulfield Difficulty
The Difficulty with Relating to Holden Caulfield As the novel progresses, it becomes difficult to relate
to Holden Caulfield as he shows irrational thinking, terrible ways of coping with stress, and a negative
attitude. Holden was absolutely irritated with Sally Hayes as she does not agree with his plan to run
away and begin a new life. Rather than Holden expressing his feelings with Sally in a considerate way,
Holden irrationally lets out his emotions which made her cry. With this in mind, Holden says I know I
shouldn t ve said it, and I probably wouldn t ve ordinarily, but she was depressing the hell out of me
(Salinger 149). Holden acknowledges the fact that this was certainly not the proper approach to his
situation. In contrast to

This could be prevented if the person who is counting the oscillations also times them themselves.
Objectives 1. To conduct a lab experiment for the oscillations of a pendulum with a yielding support 2.
investigate the simple pendulum 3. To prove that the distance (m) is directly proportional to period.
Theory
Theory states that T and d are related by the equation: T2 = kd3+ (4π2 l)/g where g is the acceleration
of free fall and k is a constant.
Apparatus and Material:
1. Stop clock
2. Hacksaw blade
3. String
4. Pendulum
5. Clamps holding blade
6. Table
Procedure/Method 1. The length of the string holding the bob was recorded
2. The time taken for the pendulum to complete 20 oscillations was found and recorded. 3. The
position of the plate was adjusted and the previous step was repeated 3 times for 6 different distances.
4. An average was found based on these 3 values. 5. Values for T2 and d3 were calculated.
Results/data
Analysis/ Discussion
The average was taken to increase accuracy = (31.50+31.47+31.44)3 = 94.413 = 31.47s
The time for one oscillation was found by dividing the amount of oscillations (20) done by the time
taken for them= 31.4720 = 1.57s

The Indus River Civilization
In the year 3000 BCE the Indus River civilization was formed in the northwest of India (Indus River).
This was the beginning of the long reign of Hinduism over the Indian peninsula. They were an
advanced civilization having many artifacts architecturally especially bathhouses but the biggest thing
they left behind was religious symbols and religious figures; They also set a precedent by having a
mother goddess. Around 1800 BCE the Aryans a militant tribe from central Asia came into India and
took over the Indus River civilization (Indus Valley Civilization). Also according to many scholars the
belief of the collapse of the Indus River Valley Civilization wasn t from an invasion by the Aryans but
a decline in trade with Egypt and Mesopotamia along with a drought (Indus Valley Civilization).
Since the beginning of the civilization they ve had many religious texts starting with the Vedic
scripture of the Rig Veda (Hinduism). There were many Hindu writings including the Upanishads,
Brahmanas, and Vedantas. These writings are Indo Aryan writings as the Aryan occupation had some
influence on the text (Hinduism). The year 300 BCE brought along a new and one of the most
important Hindu books The Bhagavad Gita. The Hindu religion is a polytheistic religion meaning that
it has many gods split into three different sections being Celestial, Atmospheric, and Terrestrial. Gods
have their own specific reason of being in this structured universe. The main gods worshiped in Vedic

The Passage Of Time Has Resulted On National And...
The passage of time has resulted in numerous political parties around the world that deliberate on
national and international policy. These parties prioritize certain issues over others resulting in the
multitude of party platforms such as Green, Conservative, Liberal Democrat, etc. that are seen in
governments. Some of these parties are tactically suited to maintaining their original stance with
issues that have come up over time. For example, the green parties which have gained relevance
concurrently with environmental issues seem to maintain a fairly steady political stance. Other parties,
however, have long histories of voting and precedence in government that have sustained over
centuries such as conservative and liberal parties. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This hypothesis is that of national location. The philosophy behind this political positioning suggests
that in an issue such as European integration there will be more variation seen in countries that have
more diverse social and economic factors involved in policy making. The article suggests that with
this hypothesis that issues will be decided on by parties potentially depending on what is in the best
interest at tat time based on the national feeling that is present in their respective countries. This
hypothesis is certainly well founded in the idea of European integration as if national interests are
largely in favor of integration it stands to follow that parties and policy would likewise be in favor.
Still, the next hypothesis that is given, the median supporter, also makes sense for parties and shifting
stances. In this parties would generally change their stances just enough to create the most potential to
gather a maximum amount of votes. This would allow parties in the case of European integration to
stick safely to the ideals of their average voter which would potentially allow for the most
representatively accurate ideas to take force. This meaning that if this hypothesis were correct political
parties would correspondingly move towards integration with their average voters perspective in mind
so as to appeal to the most voters as possible.
Finally, the last alternative hypothesis presented in the article took the stance of parties going one of

Tale Of Two Cities Literary Analysis
In the novel A Tale of Two Cities, Charles Dickens establishes that revenge is sinful by using the
French Revolution s rebel peasants, fire, and water. Dickens discreetly uses fire and water in several
instances to describe the relationship between revenge and anger, and the cycle the two create. As the
years passed in France, the violence the rebels exhibited grew worse and worse. In such risings of fire
and risings of sea the firm earth shaken by the rushes of an angry ocean which had now no ebb, but
was always on the flow, higher and higher, to the terror, and wonder of the beholders on the shore
three years of tempest were consumed, (Dickens 225). Sea, or water, symbolizes revenge while fire
represents vengeance, anger, and hatred. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Doctor Manette is talking to a peasant boy who has been stabbed about his sister, another patient
Manette has just seen, and her recent marriage. The conversation turns into a rant from the boy about
nobles, specifically Monsieur the Marquis. I say, we were so robbed, and hunted, and were made so
poor, that our father told us it was a dreadful thing to bring a child into the world, and that what we
should most pray for was that our women might be barren and our miserable race die out, I had never
before seen the sense of being oppressed, bursting forth like a fire. I had supposed that it must be
latent in the people somewhere; but, I had never seen it break out, until I saw it in the dying boy,
(Dickens 315). Dickens again uses fire to represent contempt and anger, this time in a more personal
example of the dying peasant boy. The Marquis took everything from this boy: his quality of life,
willingness to live, and his life itself. Choosing the word barren casts an even more negative
connotation over the already pessimistic topic of infertility. Also, in most instances, fathers want
nothing more than grandchildren from their sons, but the conditions in France are so atrocious he
would rather his family die out. This demonstrates how desolate and hopeless France had become for
peasants; on the bright side,

Plenitude
Plenitude by L Oreal was introduced to the US market in 1988. Eight years since its introduction, it
has quickly become the #2 brand in the market only to lose it later to Pond s. Plenitude also hit a four
year sales plateau and was still not making any money in the US market. L Oreal s problems and root
causes should first be identified and addressed. The root causes of L Oreal s problems are: 1. Wrong
assumptions of the target market 2. Applying a market strategy based on the those assumptions 3.

As stated above, Plenitude is perceived to be a product for older women and it is an expensive brand.
To be able to reach a wider range of segments in the market and get back to the class to the mass
strategy, Plenitude has to change its image and the way people perceive its products. Looking at the
perceptual map (exhibit 9), Pond s and Oil of Olay which dominate the market are perceived
differently. L Oreal can position Plenitude in a similar way which attracts the masses and still maintain
its position as a class above the others: Technologically advanced a bit pricier but worth it since it has
better quality Readily available Change tag line from reduces signs of aging to something like stay
young and healthy to remove link to old age This will help Plenitude widen its target market to include
other segments. In terms of promotion and advertising, L Oreal should change the star product
approach and instead focus on the whole product line or perhaps a set of products for a given target
segment. In this way, L Oreal can inform its customers on its products which should also help them in
choosing the right product for themselves. L Oreal should also focus on building the brand Plenitude
since this is something that customers are not aware of. They only know L Oreal. One of the problems
mentioned was that people were confused on which product to choose.

2017, a passenger was forcefully removed from the plane because he refused to give up his seat. He
was dragged off brutally and violently. Blood is visible on his face and body. The passenger explained
that he is a doctor and he is on his way to see his patients thus he cannot reschedule his flight. This
resulted in him being forcefully dragged off the plane and the force deployed caused him to bleed. This
passenger is an Asian. If this person is white, would they do that? Everyone has right to defend their

The Theories And Measurement Of Personality Characteristics
Personality does not have a specific meaning in a psychological term and there have been multitude of
definitions. What involves personality, is not just one thing; there are various factors that contribute
what is personality? Personality seems to be located upon a complicated interaction between genetic,
environmental factors, and with race, ethnicity, culture, age, as well as, gender. In 1937, Gordon
Allport defined personality as the dynamic organisation within the individual of those psychophysical
systems that determine a unique adjustment to the environment (Maltby, Day, and Macaskill, 2013,
pp.18). However, in 1961, Allport defined it again, but this time as the dynamic organisation inside the
person of psychophysical systems that determine the person s characteristics patterns of behaviour and
thought (8 Theories and Measurement of Personality Characteristics, 2014). His definitions are the
most quoted. This essay will discuss the advantages and disadvantages focused on personality and
comparing it to the controversy of situations in predicting behaviour by including some empirical
research. Personality is a concept used in our everyday lives, due to the judgements as a society we
form, consciously or not about others. The word personality is often used by people, referring it as a
global implicit judgements created by all the impressions and feelings made by an individual. When
people react to certain situations in a fairly consistent manner, this will

Pro Gay Equality
To deny people their human rights, is to challenge their very humanity (Nelson Mandela). As a result,
the start of gay equality was seen when same sex marriage became legal on June 26 2015. Peaceful
protests were popular during 2015 to allow equality for homosexuals. However homosexuals still face
opposition in America as these groups are becoming unemployed due to sexual discrimination; as well
as denied basic accommodations and inadequate health care. Yet other American s feel that oppression
is necessary because people feel uncomfortable and believe homosexuality is unnatural. However, we
as Americans should move on from this form of thinking because it makes us think backwards instead

Digital Dark Age Essays
Digital Dark Age For thousands of years, we humans have kept records. We have carved on walls and
rocks, carved on tablets and stones, and written on leaves. Many of these records have survived to this
day; as we have used them to read, learn about, and understand our history and ancestors. The
invention of printing made writing records much easier and faster. Information that changed the world
had been printed on paper, and some of this information too survived till this day. In the 20th century,
we began keeping records and saving information in a different way: technological, computerized and

Some programs made to read digital information no longer run. Nowadays, you rarely find drives that
read 8 floppy disks or floppy disks from 2000. If a program that reads a certain type of information

family information may be lost, information held sacred by the family members. And not only such
information, but also data from pivotal scientific research, theories and discoveries may be lost too.
Many people believe that a digital dark age has already begun. These observations about the present
times form the basis for this conclusion:
Enormous amounts of digital information are already lost forever. Digital historycannot be recreated
by individuals and organizations cannot recreate a digital historybecause it was not archived or

Information technologies are essentially obsolete every 18 months.
There is a proliferation of document and media formats, each one potentially carrying their own

Little Bit ( Mis ) Judged
Little Bit (mis)Judged
Throughout United States history, the nation saw many different presidents. Some terms were too
short to evaluate the legacy, and others had many events that led to a mixed legacy. It is always hard to
rank the presidents based on the greatest, the most impactful, or even the most overrated. Lyndon B.
Johnson, the 36th President of the United States, arguably had an impactful presidency, but he was
also a very overrated one. His domestic policy looks good because he addressed the Civil Rights at the
right time, but at the same time his War on Poverty left unanswered problems. His foreign affair was
dominated by the horrid Vietnam War, but he also played a part for the CIA supported coup d etats that
resulted in deaths of thousands of innocent people all over the world. In addition, Johnson did not
show strong, powerful traits that most presidents should have while he was in office. One major thing
that Johnson gets credit for is addressing the civil rights. He passed a couple of significant acts that
allowed civil rights to African Americans. This is seen as one of his positives during his term.
However, an argument can be made that this could have been accomplished during the Kennedy
administration. Of course, there is much evidence that Kennedy was in fact hesitant when it came to
civil rights issues, but the Cold War played a part with Kennedy s action. Timing did not help
Kennedy while he was in office. During his tenure, Kennedy had to deal

Freedom In The 1800 s
Freedom was a confusing term during the mid 1700 s up to the mid 1800 s, since there were different
types of freedom. In the 1700 s, freedom in America meant a cry for liberty and independence from
the British, but freedom in the 1800 s meant emancipation for the slaves. Although freedom changed
for the United States by breaking away from British rule, freedom did not apply to everyone. Those
who enjoyed freedom were white men, and the majority of African Americans were still slaves. Life,
liberty and pursuit of happiness stated in the constitution was hypocritical; laws and rules hindering
freedom and rights for African Americans were hindered and even reversed the road to freedom for
black Americans. The introduction of cotton as a major ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

have taken had I lived during the great controversy of 1776. To say now that America was right, and

quick to judge England s actions as wrong and how America made the right decision and took the
initiative to fight for their freedom. Later in the same speech, Douglass asks, Are the great principles
of political freedom and of natural justice, embodied in that Declaration of Independence, extended to
us [blacks]? (Douglass, p. 9). Here, Douglass is talking about how the constitution mentions liberty
and freedom for all Americans but that freedom isn t extended towards African Americans. This is a

Performance Of Team Baldwin At Success
Assessment Introduction This assignment evaluates the performance of team Baldwin around the
success in managing the company over five rounds of the simulation. The assessment will be focused
on the round analysis areas with key attention on inventory, profit and contribution margin, emergency
loans, and stock price. In addition, the assignment reflects on the areas of improvement and how the
team could have developed effectiveness in addressing these key areas in round analysis. The Baldwin
team was composed of the members Mary Armstrong, Shawn Williams, Chelsea Trujillo, Daniel
Arensmeier and Brenda Reyes. Team Baldwin understood that its own success begins from a well
constructed strategy with a proper execution plan. The Baldwin company adopted a Differentiation
Strategy with a Product Lifecycle Focus. Baldwin considered the scope of the Capstone business
strategy in the implementation of the objectives of the company. These strategies revolved around the
R D, marketing, production, and finance departments. The highest priority was building effective and
successful team environments along with communication techniques. Excellent communication skills
are essential in virtual teams, which is why this should always be a crucial area of personal
development for team members (Manktelow, J., 2012). The second instrument in understanding the
Capsim simulation strategy was having knowledge of the market growth rate and the key four

Compare And Contrast Gothic Elements In Dr Fbeth
In this essay I will identify and discuss two corresponding Gothic elements that are present in the play,
Dr Faustus and the film, The Devil s Advocate. I will also refer to how these elements add to the
abjection of the main character. The corresponding Gothic elements that I will use is Evil Deeds
Leading to the Downfall of a character and also Passion Drive, Willful Villain Hero or Villain.
In the play Dr Faustus; Faustus is a clever scholar from Germany, whose desire for knowledge and
wealth makes him eager to pay the final price; his soul; to Lucifer to trade for supernatural powers. In
the beginning Faustus s greatness is dismissed by the fact that he never seems fully sure of his

Summary Of Guy Debord s Society Of The Spectacle
Throughout history there have been many well known philosophers. Through this paper I will be
discussing the perspectives of philosophers Guy Debord, Michel Foucault, and John Rawls. In Guy
Debord s, The Society of the Spectacle he makes critics of technological capitalism. In Michel
Foucault s, Power/Knowledge he goes over different types of power and how they are interpreted.
Debord was a situationist international, which meant creating situations or creating situations.
Referring to the several theses in Debord s novel I can say that the society of the spectacle ...is not a
collection of images; rather, it is a social relationship between people that is mediated by images
(Derbord, 12). This shows that it is not only a result ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Consumable survival must increase, in fact, because it continues to enshrine deprivation. The reason
there is nothing beyond augmented survival, and no end to its growth, is that survival itself belongs to
the realm of dispossession: it may gild poverty, but it cannot transcend it (Debord, 30). This explains
that the people are consumers of illusions; it blindsides the people from reality and only allows them
to only be aware of what society or social media wants them to know.
In Michel Foucault s, Power/ Knowledge , there are two chapters titled Truth and Power and The Eye
of the Power . Foucault s conception of power is that power is everywhere. Everyone has power and
has the ability to make use of their power, but often times citizens don t make use of their power. It
seems that they are in fear of those who enforce their power already, which prevents them to make use
of their power. An everyday individual sees power to be in the hands of who the people have chosen .
We should not always think about power as the private property of government or state, but rather as
an equal common ground for all of those who share the land. It is not the state that doesn t matter, but
the power is bigger than the state; although the state has power, it does not have all power. A

Devaluation May Provide A Country With Devaluation
By looking at the conclusions that are drawn from the analysis of two different case studies, it can be
claimed that devaluation might succeed in achieving its main goals (increasing exports, boosting the
domestic economy and correct trade imbalances). Nevertheless, the negative consequences that result
from it (such as inflation, increasing unemployment, expensive imports) seem to overweight the
benefits that devaluation could provide a country with. This thesis will be discussed in the essay firstly
by giving a brief definition of devaluation, by addressing its characteristics and causes, and by
speculating on why devaluation might work theoretically. Then, it will use the two case studies of a
developed (China) and a developing (Bangladesh) countries to support the argument that, overall,
devaluation appears to be an unsuccessful economic strategy.
First, devaluation is commonly defined as a monetary policy tool that can be used by countries having
a fixed exchange rate and it consists of weakening artificially the domestic currency in relation to the
foreign ones (Begg et al. 2003). It is usually adopted by states that are facing trade deficits (when
imports exceed exports), and its major aim is to raise the prices of foreign goods relative to home
goods, in order to create excess demand for domestic production (Krugman and Taylor 1976, 1).
Several can be the causes for a fall in a country s export demand (such as high inflation, changes in the
foreign exchange

Sermon On The Mount Chapter 1 Summary
The book of Matthew, The Sermon on the Mount is one account of what Jesus taught during his walk
on earth. Many people of that time witnessed the sermon and were amazed and astonished, not from
what was said, but how it was said. The multitudes of people felted as if Jesus was truly the authority
of God. The purpose of this essay is to offer a critical review of the writing that was presented in class.
Jesus taught that every man has some decisions to make on their journey to the land of milk and
honey.
The story beings from the book of Matthew chapters 5, 6 and 7. Chapter 5 starts with Jesus teaching

Death In Ophelia s Grieving Laertes
The first event, in which Ophelia s death adds to the plight of the already grieving Laertes may
influence the reader/audience to feel sympathetic towards him. Shakespeare could have used a random
messenger to deliver the news of Ophelia s death but the use of Gertrude in this scene makes this news
more heartbreaking for Laertes. In the speech spoken to Laertes by Gertrude, it is somewhat implied
that Ophelia knowingly committed suicide. Ophelia s mental state in the scene s before the drowning
definitely did foreshadow her downfall. The neglect she received from Hamlet and the death of her
father was too much for her to handle. In the case of Ophelia, her relationship with Hamlet was the
direct cause of her demise. Similarly, this also applies

Point Guard Vs Shooting Guard Essay
I m comparing and contrasting two basketball positions, point guard and shooting guard. These two
positions are alike and different in many ways. One way I m focusing on is, what are their
responsibilities? The next thing that I m focusing on is, do these two players work together? The last
thing that I m focusing on is how tall do you have to be for these two positions?
Some people may think that point and shooting guards do the same thing. Most of the things they do
are similar, but there are some differences. One similarity is that, they both have to control the ball
while getting the players to understand the plays. In contrast, one thing that the point guard does that
the shooting guard doesn t is bring the ball down the court. The ... Show more content on

They also have to work with the post. On the other hand, shooting guard kind of has to switch gears
because they have to be near the ball, but at the same time be somewhere that they can shoot. They
both have to help so that the ball can get near the basket and so that someone can put it up. While
doing this, the point has to have nice slick passes to get the ball around. When help is being needed
they both have to make sure they re there because their teammates are going to pass it to one of them.
It is exciting but it takes skill for these two positions.
There are really tall people that play basketball, but that is not an requirement. You don t have to really
have height to play these two positions. In comparison, the point and shooting guards are usually the
shortest ones on the team. People also think that the point guard Is the shortest one on the team. Good
news is they don t have to be! On the other hand, shooting guard is the shortest one on the team. The
post are the taller ones that s why they are there to shoot.
What I learned from researching these two positions are that they can be really fun to be on a
basketball team. I also learned that basketball is not easy and it is a physical sport. Basketball is one of
the well known sports and people play it all throughout the country. These similarities and differences

Treaty Of Versailles Dbq Essay
The treaty solved none of the major problems which caused the Great War in the first place. France,
Great Britain, and Italy wanted to make sure Germany would never be a military threat again so they
wanted to avenge the war by making Germany take all the blame for starting the war. Germany was
not even permitted to send delegates to the conference. Huge reparation payments were awarded the
allies and Germany was never able to make the payments which only weakened her poor economic
situation, and it became worse with the onset of the Depression of the 1930s. All of Germany s
colonies were taken from them and they were not permitted to have a military other than a national
police force. Hitler would later use the treaty as the cause of all the problems faced by Germany and
convince the people that he could restore national pride and world recognition of Germany as an equal
nation. The treaty of Versailles helped cause world war II by demanding that they pay billions in
reparation, forcing them to sign the war guilt clause, taking vital land away from them, and most
importantly greatly restricting Germanys military. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Labor Day weekend in 2006, World Furniture Mall in Plano, Illinois, gave away $275,000 of furniture
because the Chicago Bears shut out the Green Bay Packers in the team s football season opener at
Lambeau Field in Green Bay (26 0). Was the free furniture in the form of a discount or rebate taxable,
or should the furniture company have handed the customers a Form 1099 MISC?

Lending Tree Home Loans And Home Loan Lenders
Lending Tree portends to act as an online conciliator between individuals looking for home loans and
home loan lenders. The premise is that by connecting several lenders with the client, or rather making
several lenders aware of a potential customer, that the loan with the best interest rate will rise to the
top of the stack. Lending Tree claims to offer debt consolidation and to lower one s monthly interest
rates. The company s advertising campaign seems to suggest that Lending Tree will act as a negotiator
for the client, urging banks to compete for your business. While this is not exactly the case, using the
site essentially amounts to shopping around for a better deal which, of course, is better than buying on
impulse. Lending Tree Home Loans takes your information, including your financial goals, and runs a
credit check. At this point the service submits this information to a number of lenders. This is meant to
create the impression that banks are competing for your business, when in fact the client is only
receiving basic service offers from lenders who have been made aware of her or him by Lending Tree.
Many customers have had the experience of receiving offers from lenders during non business hours
within minutes of submitting their query. This is suspicious, as it seems clear that in these cases
Lending Tree has acted as little more than an advertising service for the lenders. This would mean that
Lending Tree s real clientele are the lending firms, who are

Damnation of a Canyon
The Damnation of a Canyon By Edward Abbey Not many people know of the used to be 150 mile
excursion that the Glen Canyon had to offer. Not many people know how to sail a raft down a river for
a week. Not many people know how to interact with nature and the animals that come with it. We
seem to come from a world that is dependent on time and consumed in money. Edward Abbey is what
you would call an extreme environmentalist. He talks about how it was an environmental disaster to
place a dam in which to create Lake Powell, a reservoir formed on the border of Utah and Arizona. He
is one of the few that have actually seen the way Glen Canyon was before they changed it into a

people who visit Lake Powell on an unscientific basis, upper middle class American slobs. So does
that mean that a lower class family doesn t have the money to do such recreational activity? And that
we are slobs because we like to view nature in its own environment? One last point in which should be
heard is that, Edward Abbey states that now that the river is closed up people cannot get a raft, spend
about forty dollars, give up 7 10 days, and rely only on the goodness of fresh catfish just to float down
a river. In today s society people don t have time. We would rather spend the hundreds of dollars to get
a nice speedboat, buy real food, and only take maybe the weekend to enjoy the great outdoors. We
enjoy the freshness of a shower everyday, going to the bathroom with flushable device, eating food
with the right bit of garlic taste, in other words the comfort of home. Even if they did take down the
dam and offer such rafting trips, do you honestly think a person could leave their cell phone at home?

Is Abortion Rare And Safe
Abortion The title of the scholarly journal article I read is called Making Abortion rare and safe.
Abortion is the process where you end pregnancy before the fetus is born, which therefore deceases
the fetus. This article is important because this subject has become very prevalent worldwide.
Abortion is developing a high increase in numerous of countries, therefore there needs to be a safer
abortion awareness or to even make it infrequent in non serious cases. The author, Duff Gillespie,
started of this article by explaining to the audience how important and severe abortion is to women.
Gillespie wrote that in the United States, there is a serious debate on women s right to control their
bodies against letting a healthy fetus live. This shouldn t be a serious case because all women do have
the right to control their bodies, but when it comes to a fetus, they have to think twice. Many women
are tremendously having medical issues while pregnant, and in that case they have no absolute control
on their bodies so they will need to officially proceed with an abortion. But On the other hand, other
women are just concerned about body beauty and how it would risk a fetus s life, like gaining a couple
of extra body fat. So I feel that if this debate is recognized, medical or political researchers would
have to consider it intensely. The increase in abortion is developing a world foreign assistance. This
United States was listed as one of the main health donor in these situations.

Parenthood Is Affordable, The United States Department Of...
Many men and women in America don t have insurance or simply cannot afford health care. Planned
Parenthood does have professional doctors who specialized in many reproductive health services.
Planned Parenthood is affordable, the program takes a patient whether they have insurance or not, not
only that, they charge you by how much income you make. Low income Americans have access to
these services too. The United States Department of Health, Education and Welfare, for example,
created a federal program to provide poor, married women with birth control. (Alan Guttmacher

Texas is one of the states that cut funds for Planned Parenthood. After Texas defunded the clinic, a
survey of 300 pregnant women who were seeking abortions in Texas said that they were unable to
access the birth control that they wanted to use in the three months before pregnancy. (Amanda J.
Stevenson).
According to the article, Political Attacks on Planned Parenthood Are a Threat to Women s Health for
some people, Planned Parenthood has come to symbolize abortion, which it has provided since 1970.
But in all the rhetoric, facts have sometimes gone missing. For example, Senator Jon Kyl of Arizona
declared on the floor of the Senate that abortion accounts for well over 90 percent of what Planned
Parenthood does. That figure is actually 3 percent. Planned Parenthood clinics perform one in four
abortions in the U.S. but use no federal funds for this practice. To some abortion opponents, that 3
percent is reason enough to gut the organization. If a future Congress and White House were to do so,
however, it would drive women once again into the back alleys, without necessarily decreasing the
number of abortions. Stripping Planned Parenthood of federal funding would also sacrifice the 97
percent of its public health work that has nothing to do with abortion, from which many people benefit
directly. One in five American women have used the group s services, and three out of four

History and Features of Cloud Computing
Many of the techniques of cloud computing, or cloud networking as it often was called, were
developed in the 1950s at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Bell
Laboratories, University of Maryland, and a few other research facilities, with application to satellite
imagery, wire photo standards conversion, medical imaging, videophone, character recognition, and
photograph enhancement.[1] The cost of processing was fairly high, however, with the computing
equipment of that era. That changed in the 1970s, when digital image processing proliferated as
cheaper computers and dedicated hardware became available. Images then could be processed in real
time, for some dedicated problems such as television standards conversion. As general purpose
computers became faster, they started to take over the role of dedicated hardware for all but the most
specialized and computer intensive operations. With the fast computers and signal processors available
in the 2000s, cloud computing become the most common form of data storage and generally, is used
because it is not only the most versatile method, but also the cheapest. Some of the features of cloud
commuting that gave it an edge over prevalent technologies in computing are :  Agility improves
with users ability to re provision technological infrastructure resources.  Application programming

in fall semester 2010. Her published scholarship since arriving at ASU includes one book, The
Rhetoric of Augustan Rome (2013, University of South Carolina Press), two refereed articles in major
peer reviewed journals, and two book reviews. She also has one 3,000 word contribution in a refereed
conference proceeding, which has been submitted for publication ... Show more content on

Lamp characterizes her scholarship as challenging the narrow definitions of rhetoric in the early
Roman Empire as well as narratives of its retreat from political life after the Roman republic. She
describes her book as transdisciplinary in nature, combining research from rhetorical theory, visual
studies, art history, archaeology, and classics to explore the impact of non traditional rhetorical media
on practices of citizenship during the reign of Augustus. Lamp s other publications are closely aligned
with the book s theme and serve to reach scholars of history, the classics and art history. She presents
evidence of a clear plan moving forward as well as ongoing progress toward her next
book project, which is a study of public memory and ideal citizenship that examines (neo)classical
influences from ancient Rome on U.S. culture through the construction of monuments and memorials.
Her dossier speaks unequivocally to her impressive scholarship and growing positive reputation in the
field of classical rhetoric.
It is clear from all seven external letters that Dr. Lamp is engaging important issues in her field, both
thematically and methodologically. Paraphrasing, C6/L2 writes that Lamp is producing important,
significant scholarship that challenges and persuasively revises long established views of some of the
discipline s most basic assumptions regarding the history of rhetoric and the definition of rhetoric
itself. The cornerstone of Dr.

Kansas First Fountain
The first fountains in Kansas City were for horses, birds and dog serving a practical purpose. In 1883
the Humane Society of Kansas City was established to prevent cruelty to women, children and
animals. In 1904 they built Kansas City s first fountain near the west end of the intercity viaduct, 3rd
and Minnesota. It has a large square pedestal with 4 small pools for dogs to drink from at street level
and a 4 diameter granite basin at a height for horses to drink. The water came out of spigots in lions
mouths into this taller bowl so people could get clean water in their cups. The overflow went into the
street level basins for the dogs. There was a street light on top. It was moved to 18th Parallel and
finally in 1967 given to the Wyandotte

Poverty And Importance Of Education
My hometown of Lawrence is a vibrant immigrant city, with its proud roots now riddled in poverty
and corruption. The poverty level in the city is one of the highest in Massachusetts, violent crime has
been on the rise for years, and the high school dropout rate is more than 50 percent. Growing up,
many of my classmates struggled with schoolwork as a result of the language barrier and lack of
funding for transitional bilingual education programs. Countless children, with limitless potential,
eventually learned to see the futility in participating in a system which had abandoned them. I was
lucky enough to be accepted into Bellesini Academy, a school which provides support for low income,
at risk inner city students and helps its students gain acceptance into private college preparatory high
schools on scholarship. Without this opportunity I am not sure what would have become of me. I
would not have been able to attend the Groton School and may not have been blessed with the
opportunity to attend Boston College. My experiences in the Lawrence education system continue to
shape my views on the importance of education, while inciting my political consciousness and
engagement in my community. I plan to further study education policy in graduate school and,
hopefully, be able to attain extensive knowledge of government policy in order to improve the
education standards in my hometown. I would love to be a member of my City Council after obtaining
my degree. In general, I know

Lottery Essay Symbolism
Symbolism Essay Symbolism is a sign that has been used by literary authors to represent a larger idea
into another more specific concept or belief. Symbolism can be used to represent an action, an idea or
a person s archetype as well. The term symbolism is the practice of representing things by symbols, or
of investing in things with a symbolic meaning or character ( Symbolism ). Examples of symbolism
are: an eagle representing freedom, a dove representing peace, and the color green can symbolize the
feeling of envy. The following pieces of literature, The Lottery by Shirley Jackson, We Wear the Mask
by Paul Laurence, Richard Cory by Edwin Arlington Robinson, and Mirror by Sylvia Plath are all
poems that use symbolism. The story ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The stones symbolize unity of the town but also symbolizes a murder weapon. At the end of the story,
it is surprising to see that someone is truly chosen to die through this lottery. A critic states, The story
shocks us because we do not like to admit a demonic side to our natures. The story suggests that
basically we are beasts, ... that we can slip back to barbarism hardly batting an eye (Evans).
Concerning this quote, all of the people of the town are so fixated on this tradition that they cannot
even see the madness in what they are doing. Every year each family is eager to participate. The
society represents an example of naturalism. Furthermore, in We Wear the Mask , Paul Laurence talks
about the different ways all types of feelings and emotions can be hidden. Every person in the world
has some sort of hidden struggle or triumph. A mask is used to hide what everyone wants kept in the
dark. A mask symbolizes protection and disguise. In fact, Laurence states, We wear the mask that grins
and lies, It hides our cheeks and shades our eyes (Line 1). Through the quote, the author explains that
no matter what people portray to the world, a mask covers what truly lies within. Sometimes others
have an understandable explanation for the front they put up. A critic suggests, This debt we pay to
human guile; / With torn and bleeding hearts we smile, / And mouth with myriad subtleties (

Physician Assistant Research Paper
Physician Assistant The first duties of the Physician is to educate the masses not to take the medicine.
This is a quote said by William Osler telling how a Physician s job is to give information on the drugs
and not to use them. The role of a Physician Assistant is to help the Physician do their job. A Physician
Assistant also known as a (PA) can diagnose and prescribe medications. A PA works above a Nurse
but under the supervision of a Doctor. A Physician Assistant typically works around 4 days a week. A
Physician Assistant is a fascinating and fulfilling career because it provides good pay, is mentally
challenging, and this profession benefits society by helping others. One of the many advantages of
being a Physician Assistant is it provides a great salary. Emergency Room Physician Assistant salaries
varied greatly. As of 2014 the lowest 10% earned less than $62,000. The average PA salary was
$98,000. Meanwhile the highest 10% earned more than $139,000. The Physician Assistant occupation
is expected to grow 38% by 2022. That is a faster growth than normal. The necessary schooling in
order to become a PA takes 6 years. Before being accepted into PA school one must gain experience in
the medical field. Most gain their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The most common setting for Physician Assistants is in the ER. A PA usually works 4 days a week.
During those 4 days they typically work 12 hour shifts. Most of their shift they spend on their feet. An
Emergency Room Physician Assistant very rarely gets free time to sit down. Physician Assistants are
not given as much respect by patients that the Doctors get. In order to be a PA one must have a strong
stomach. Dealing with all the blood and bodily fluids may be tough. If one is easily grossed out they
won t be able to perform procedures. It can also make the home life complicated. Reason being is

Analysis Of The War That Shaped Katherine Anne Porter
The War that Shaped Katherine Anne Porter There is a moment in a writer s life where they are
affected by a particular event which inspires them in their literature. These events can affect them in a
positive or negative way, depending on what is going on during that decade. Wars are large events in
history which tend to influence the most people. Katherine Porter and her novel Pale Rider, Pale Horse
were drastically influenced by the outbreak of World War One. World War One not only created a
Generation of lost writers, and destruction, but created a time period of movement for political and
social changes in the United States. As a result of all the devastation and change during the war,
Katherine Anne Porter wrote her three part novel Pale Horse, Pale Rider, to illustrate her personal life
being influenced by the way. World War One broke out in Europe in 1914 with the assassination of
Austro Hungarian Duke Franz Ferdinand and his wife, by a Serbian Nationalist (Thomas). As a result,
Austro Hungary declared war on Serbia which created a split among European countries. The Allied
and Central Powers were created as countries formed alliances with either Austro Hungary or Serbia.
The Central Power Germany fought the Allied Powers Britain and France on the Western front of
Europe while Russia fought Germany on the Eastern Front. ( Outline ). The United States did not
decide to join the war until the election of President Wilson who campaigned the idea of staying out of

All of the Other Ways of Knowing Are Controlled by...
Language is such a universal phenomenon in human society. Whenever we write or speak, we use it;
whenever we make a promise or ask a question, we use it. In the statement ¡§All of the other ways of
knowing are controlled by language¡¨, language is defined as ¡§words¡¨ and this ¡§control¡¨ can be
defined as ¡§dominate¡¨. Then this saying seems not so fair to represent the relationship between the
four ways of knowing. It is more sensible to say language gives some support or limit to our
reason¡Aperception and emotion. It may influence them, but not only one way ¡V the four ways of
knowing interact with each other.
The function of language is particularly relevant in reason. We should believe our application of
reason is within our mind ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, once people notice that language gives some misunderstandings sometimes, language will
be less powerful to affect our perception.
Emotion, in the strict sense, looks like the way of knowing that is least dependent of language.
Language suffers due to its relative inability to adequately represent emotion. For all of us it is very
hard to verbalize our emotions exactly. I love my mother so much, but what is love? I respect her, feel
happy when talking to her, and I want to take care of her one day like she always does for me now.
However, it is not enough and detailed to express love. Even if in poems that are more expert in
language, it is lacking of sensible words in presenting our subtle emotions.
It can be argued that people will hold different emotions while thinking the same thing in different
languages. The reason is when we think in a certain language, we will directly think about the
literature and phrases in this language which could favor certain thinking patterns of our cultural
background, then easily lead to different emotions and perceptions. Thus, language may influence our
emotion in some manner.
Actually, language and emotion interact with each other. Consider the lecture given by Martin Luther
King (1963): ¡§I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, every hill and mountain shall
be made low; the tough places will be made plain¡K¡¨ In this lecture, the orator repeated the phrase ¡§I
have a dream¡¨

  • 2. Holden Caulfield Difficulty The Difficulty with Relating to Holden Caulfield As the novel progresses, it becomes difficult to relate to Holden Caulfield as he shows irrational thinking, terrible ways of coping with stress, and a negative attitude. Holden was absolutely irritated with Sally Hayes as she does not agree with his plan to run away and begin a new life. Rather than Holden expressing his feelings with Sally in a considerate way, Holden irrationally lets out his emotions which made her cry. With this in mind, Holden says I know I shouldn t ve said it, and I probably wouldn t ve ordinarily, but she was depressing the hell out of me (Salinger 149). Holden acknowledges the fact that this was certainly not the proper approach to his situation. In contrast to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To conduct a lab experiment for the oscillations of a pendulum with a yielding support 2. investigate the simple pendulum 3. To prove that the distance (m) is directly proportional to period. Theory Theory states that T and d are related by the equation: T2 = kd3+ (4π2 l)/g where g is the acceleration of free fall and k is a constant. Apparatus and Material: 1. Stop clock 2. Hacksaw blade 3. String 4. Pendulum 5. Clamps holding blade 6. Table Procedure/Method 1. The length of the string holding the bob was recorded 2. The time taken for the pendulum to complete 20 oscillations was found and recorded. 3. The position of the plate was adjusted and the previous step was repeated 3 times for 6 different distances. 4. An average was found based on these 3 values. 5. Values for T2 and d3 were calculated. Results/data Analysis/ Discussion The average was taken to increase accuracy = (31.50+31.47+31.44)3 = 94.413 = 31.47s The time for one oscillation was found by dividing the amount of oscillations (20) done by the time taken for them= 31.4720 = 1.57s The taking 2 points from the graph, (11.8 x 10 3, 2.45), (7 x 10 3, 2.36) Gradient= y2 y1x2 x1

This was the beginning of the long reign of Hinduism over the Indian peninsula. They were an advanced civilization having many artifacts architecturally especially bathhouses but the biggest thing they left behind was religious symbols and religious figures; They also set a precedent by having a mother goddess. Around 1800 BCE the Aryans a militant tribe from central Asia came into India and took over the Indus River civilization (Indus Valley Civilization). Also according to many scholars the belief of the collapse of the Indus River Valley Civilization wasn t from an invasion by the Aryans but a decline in trade with Egypt and Mesopotamia along with a drought (Indus Valley Civilization). Since the beginning of the civilization they ve had many religious texts starting with the Vedic scripture of the Rig Veda (Hinduism). There were many Hindu writings including the Upanishads, Brahmanas, and Vedantas. These writings are Indo Aryan writings as the Aryan occupation had some influence on the text (Hinduism). The year 300 BCE brought along a new and one of the most important Hindu books The Bhagavad Gita. These parties prioritize certain issues over others resulting in the multitude of party platforms such as Green, Conservative, Liberal Democrat, etc. that are seen in governments. Some of these parties are tactically suited to maintaining their original stance with issues that have come up over time. For example, the green parties which have gained relevance concurrently with environmental issues seem to maintain a fairly steady political stance. Other parties, however, have long histories of voting and precedence in government that have sustained over centuries such as conservative and liberal parties. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This hypothesis is that of national location. The philosophy behind this political positioning suggests that in an issue such as European integration there will be more variation seen in countries that have more diverse social and economic factors involved in policy making. The article suggests that with this hypothesis that issues will be decided on by parties potentially depending on what is in the best interest at tat time based on the national feeling that is present in their respective countries. This hypothesis is certainly well founded in the idea of European integration as if national interests are largely in favor of integration it stands to follow that parties and policy would likewise be in favor. Still, the next hypothesis that is given, the median supporter, also makes sense for parties and shifting stances. In this parties would generally change their stances just enough to create the most potential to gather a maximum amount of votes. This would allow parties in the case of European integration to stick safely to the ideals of their average voter which would potentially allow for the most representatively accurate ideas to take force. This meaning that if this hypothesis were correct political parties would correspondingly move towards integration with their average voters perspective in mind so as to appeal to the most voters as possible. Finally, the last alternative hypothesis presented in the article took the stance of parties going one of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Tale Of Two Cities Literary Analysis In the novel A Tale of Two Cities, Charles Dickens establishes that revenge is sinful by using the French Revolution s rebel peasants, fire, and water. Dickens discreetly uses fire and water in several instances to describe the relationship between revenge and anger, and the cycle the two create. As the years passed in France, the violence the rebels exhibited grew worse and worse. In such risings of fire and risings of sea the firm earth shaken by the rushes of an angry ocean which had now no ebb, but was always on the flow, higher and higher, to the terror, and wonder of the beholders on the shore three years of tempest were consumed, (Dickens 225). Doctor Manette is talking to a peasant boy who has been stabbed about his sister, another patient Manette has just seen, and her recent marriage. The conversation turns into a rant from the boy about nobles, specifically Monsieur the Marquis. I say, we were so robbed, and hunted, and were made so poor, that our father told us it was a dreadful thing to bring a child into the world, and that what we should most pray for was that our women might be barren and our miserable race die out, I had never before seen the sense of being oppressed, bursting forth like a fire. I had supposed that it must be latent in the people somewhere; but, I had never seen it break out, until I saw it in the dying boy, (Dickens 315). Dickens again uses fire to represent contempt and anger, this time in a more personal example of the dying peasant boy. The Marquis took everything from this boy: his quality of life, willingness to live, and his life itself. Choosing the word barren casts an even more negative connotation over the already pessimistic topic of infertility. Also, in most instances, fathers want nothing more than grandchildren from their sons, but the conditions in France are so atrocious he would rather his family die out. This demonstrates how desolate and hopeless France had become for peasants; on the bright side, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Looking at the perceptual map (exhibit 9), Pond s and Oil of Olay which dominate the market are perceived differently. In terms of promotion and advertising, L Oreal should change the star product approach and instead focus on the whole product line or perhaps a set of products for a given target segment. In this way, L Oreal can inform its customers on its products which should also help them in choosing the right product for themselves. What involves personality, is not just one thing; there are various factors that contribute what is personality? Personality seems to be located upon a complicated interaction between genetic, environmental factors, and with race, ethnicity, culture, age, as well as, gender. In 1937, Gordon Allport defined personality as the dynamic organisation within the individual of those psychophysical systems that determine a unique adjustment to the environment (Maltby, Day, and Macaskill, 2013, pp.18). However, in 1961, Allport defined it again, but this time as the dynamic organisation inside the person of psychophysical systems that determine the person s characteristics patterns of behaviour and thought (8 Theories and Measurement of Personality Characteristics, 2014). Johnson, the 36th President of the United States, arguably had an impactful presidency, but he was also a very overrated one. His foreign affair was dominated by the horrid Vietnam War, but he also played a part for the CIA supported coup d etats that resulted in deaths of thousands of innocent people all over the world. In addition, Johnson did not show strong, powerful traits that most presidents should have while he was in office. One major thing that Johnson gets credit for is addressing the civil rights. He passed a couple of significant acts that allowed civil rights to African Americans. This is seen as one of his positives during his term. However, an argument can be made that this could have been accomplished during the Kennedy administration. Of course, there is much evidence that Kennedy was in fact hesitant when it came to civil rights issues, but the Cold War played a part with Kennedy s action. Timing did not help Kennedy while he was in office. During his tenure, Kennedy had to deal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 20. Freedom In The 1800 s Freedom was a confusing term during the mid 1700 s up to the mid 1800 s, since there were different types of freedom. In the 1700 s, freedom in America meant a cry for liberty and independence from the British, but freedom in the 1800 s meant emancipation for the slaves. Although freedom changed for the United States by breaking away from British rule, freedom did not apply to everyone. Those who enjoyed freedom were white men, and the majority of African Americans were still slaves. Life, liberty and pursuit of happiness stated in the constitution was hypocritical; laws and rules hindering freedom and rights for African Americans were hindered and even reversed the road to freedom for black Americans. Here Douglass is talking about how America was quick to judge England s actions as wrong and how America made the right decision and took the initiative to fight for their freedom. Later in the same speech, Douglass asks, Are the great principles of political freedom and of natural justice, embodied in that Declaration of Independence, extended to us [blacks]? (Douglass, p. 9). Here, Douglass is talking about how the constitution mentions liberty and freedom for all Americans but that freedom isn t extended towards African Americans. This is a significant quote because he reminds the white audience that Americans were able to get their freedom from the British because they felt oppressed and how the rights should be extended to African Americans because they too are oppressed. Douglass states that African Americans have been living in the United States for about the same time as the White population so if the whites were able to celebrate their freedom, so should the African Americans. In addition, the assignment reflects on the areas of improvement and how the team could have developed effectiveness in addressing these key areas in round analysis. Through this paper I will be discussing the perspectives of philosophers Guy Debord, Michel Foucault, and John Rawls. In Guy Debord s, The Society of the Spectacle he makes critics of technological capitalism. In Michel Foucault s, Power/Knowledge he goes over different types of power and how they are interpreted. Debord was a situationist international, which meant creating situations or creating situations. Referring to the several theses in Debord s novel I can say that the society of the spectacle ...is not a collection of images; rather, it is a social relationship between people that is mediated by images (Derbord, 12). The reason there is nothing beyond augmented survival, and no end to its growth, is that survival itself belongs to the realm of dispossession: it may gild poverty, but it cannot transcend it (Debord, 30). This explains that the people are consumers of illusions; it blindsides the people from reality and only allows them to only be aware of what society or social media wants them to know. In Michel Foucault s, Power/ Knowledge , there are two chapters titled Truth and Power and The Eye of the Power . Foucault s conception of power is that power is everywhere. Everyone has power and has the ability to make use of their power, but often times citizens don t make use of their power. It seems that they are in fear of those who enforce their power already, which prevents them to make use of their power. An everyday individual sees power to be in the hands of who the people have chosen . We should not always think about power as the private property of government or state, but rather as an equal common ground for all of those who share the land. • 24. Devaluation May Provide A Country With Devaluation By looking at the conclusions that are drawn from the analysis of two different case studies, it can be claimed that devaluation might succeed in achieving its main goals (increasing exports, boosting the domestic economy and correct trade imbalances). Nevertheless, the negative consequences that result from it (such as inflation, increasing unemployment, expensive imports) seem to overweight the benefits that devaluation could provide a country with. This thesis will be discussed in the essay firstly by giving a brief definition of devaluation, by addressing its characteristics and causes, and by speculating on why devaluation might work theoretically. Then, it will use the two case studies of a developed (China) and a developing (Bangladesh) countries to support the argument that, overall, devaluation appears to be an unsuccessful economic strategy. First, devaluation is commonly defined as a monetary policy tool that can be used by countries having a fixed exchange rate and it consists of weakening artificially the domestic currency in relation to the foreign ones (Begg et al. 2003). It is usually adopted by states that are facing trade deficits (when imports exceed exports), and its major aim is to raise the prices of foreign goods relative to home goods, in order to create excess demand for domestic production (Krugman and Taylor 1976, 1). Several can be the causes for a fall in a country s export demand (such as high inflation, changes in the foreign exchange ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Abortion is the process where you end pregnancy before the fetus is born, which therefore deceases the fetus. This article is important because this subject has become very prevalent worldwide. Abortion is developing a high increase in numerous of countries, therefore there needs to be a safer abortion awareness or to even make it infrequent in non serious cases. The author, Duff Gillespie, started of this article by explaining to the audience how important and severe abortion is to women. Gillespie wrote that in the United States, there is a serious debate on women s right to control their bodies against letting a healthy fetus live. This shouldn t be a serious case because all women do have the right to control their bodies, but when it comes to a fetus, they have to think twice. Many women are tremendously having medical issues while pregnant, and in that case they have no absolute control on their bodies so they will need to officially proceed with an abortion. But On the other hand, other women are just concerned about body beauty and how it would risk a fetus s life, like gaining a couple of extra body fat. So I feel that if this debate is recognized, medical or political researchers would have to consider it intensely. The increase in abortion is developing a world foreign assistance. According to the article, Political Attacks on Planned Parenthood Are a Threat to Women s Health for some people, Planned Parenthood has come to symbolize abortion, which it has provided since 1970. But in all the rhetoric, facts have sometimes gone missing. That changed in the 1970s, when digital image processing proliferated as cheaper computers and dedicated hardware became available. Images then could be processed in real time, for some dedicated problems such as television standards conversion. As general purpose computers became faster, they started to take over the role of dedicated hardware for all but the most specialized and computer intensive operations. I plan on having each person contribute something in these meetings that might need more attention or could be changed. In leadership and management, we would mainly discuss what leadership styles there were, referring to the behavioral patterns that a person portrays when that person is trying to lead. The two main portrayals were task oriented leaders and person oriented leaders. Most effective leaders would have both skills. I want to become one of those leaders. One who determines what has to be done and how to go about doing tasks effectively as a task oriented leader. As well as one who will also suggest ways of accomplishing the task at hand, but also will encourage others to determine how. We also discussed how to prepare for such leadership in the six steps suggested and researched by Fred Fiedler (1967): be knowledgeable about the particular tasks, develop mental models for managing meaning, work harder than anyone else, be personally committed to group goals and needs, be willing to be decisive, and develop people skills as well as task skills. In order to be an effective supervisor, I will need to work hard at becoming more knowledgeable about the store and its surroundings, the RetailPro program we use, and how to open and close down a store. Lamp characterizes her scholarship as challenging the narrow definitions of rhetoric in the early Roman Empire as well as narratives of its retreat from political life after the Roman republic. She describes her book as transdisciplinary in nature, combining research from rhetorical theory, visual studies, art history, archaeology, and classics to explore the impact of non traditional rhetorical media on practices of citizenship during the reign of Augustus. Lamp s other publications are closely aligned with the book s theme and serve to reach scholars of history, the classics and art history. She presents evidence of a clear plan moving forward as well as ongoing progress toward her next book project, which is a study of public memory and ideal citizenship that examines (neo)classical influences from ancient Rome on U.S. culture through the construction of monuments and memorials. Her dossier speaks unequivocally to her impressive scholarship and growing positive reputation in the field of classical rhetoric. It is clear from all seven external letters that Dr. Lamp is engaging important issues in her field, both thematically and methodologically. Paraphrasing, C6/L2 writes that Lamp is producing important, significant scholarship that challenges and persuasively revises long established views of some of the discipline s most basic assumptions regarding the history of rhetoric and the definition of rhetoric itself. • 41. Kansas First Fountain The first fountains in Kansas City were for horses, birds and dog serving a practical purpose. In 1883 the Humane Society of Kansas City was established to prevent cruelty to women, children and animals. In 1904 they built Kansas City s first fountain near the west end of the intercity viaduct, 3rd and Minnesota. It has a large square pedestal with 4 small pools for dogs to drink from at street level and a 4 diameter granite basin at a height for horses to drink. The water came out of spigots in lions mouths into this taller bowl so people could get clean water in their cups. The overflow went into the street level basins for the dogs. • 42. Poverty And Importance Of Education My hometown of Lawrence is a vibrant immigrant city, with its proud roots now riddled in poverty and corruption. The poverty level in the city is one of the highest in Massachusetts, violent crime has been on the rise for years, and the high school dropout rate is more than 50 percent. Growing up, many of my classmates struggled with schoolwork as a result of the language barrier and lack of funding for transitional bilingual education programs. Countless children, with limitless potential, eventually learned to see the futility in participating in a system which had abandoned them. I was lucky enough to be accepted into Bellesini Academy, a school which provides support for low income, at risk inner city students and helps its students gain acceptance into private college preparatory high schools on scholarship. Without this opportunity I am not sure what would have become of me. I would not have been able to attend the Groton School and may not have been blessed with the opportunity to attend Boston College. My experiences in the Lawrence education system continue to shape my views on the importance of education, while inciting my political consciousness and engagement in my community. I plan to further study education policy in graduate school and, hopefully, be able to attain extensive knowledge of government policy in order to improve the education standards in my hometown. I would love to be a member of my City Council after obtaining my degree. In general, I know ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

At the end of the story, it is surprising to see that someone is truly chosen to die through this lottery. A critic states, The story shocks us because we do not like to admit a demonic side to our natures. The story suggests that basically we are beasts, ... that we can slip back to barbarism hardly batting an eye (Evans). Concerning this quote, all of the people of the town are so fixated on this tradition that they cannot even see the madness in what they are doing. Every year each family is eager to participate. The society represents an example of naturalism. Furthermore, in We Wear the Mask , Paul Laurence talks about the different ways all types of feelings and emotions can be hidden. Every person in the world has some sort of hidden struggle or triumph. A mask is used to hide what everyone wants kept in the dark. A mask symbolizes protection and disguise. In fact, Laurence states, We wear the mask that grins and lies, It hides our cheeks and shades our eyes (Line 1). Through the quote, the author explains that no matter what people portray to the world, a mask covers what truly lies within. Sometimes others have an understandable explanation for the front they put up. A critic suggests, This debt we pay to human guile; / With torn and bleeding hearts we smile, / And mouth with myriad subtleties ( Explanation of: We Wear the Mask by Paul Laurence Dunbar ). • 45. Analysis Of The War That Shaped Katherine Anne Porter The War that Shaped Katherine Anne Porter There is a moment in a writer s life where they are affected by a particular event which inspires them in their literature. These events can affect them in a positive or negative way, depending on what is going on during that decade. Wars are large events in history which tend to influence the most people. Katherine Porter and her novel Pale Rider, Pale Horse were drastically influenced by the outbreak of World War One. World War One not only created a Generation of lost writers, and destruction, but created a time period of movement for political and social changes in the United States. As a result of all the devastation and change during the war, Katherine Anne Porter wrote her three part novel Pale Horse, Pale Rider, to illustrate her personal life being influenced by the way. World War One broke out in Europe in 1914 with the assassination of Austro Hungarian Duke Franz Ferdinand and his wife, by a Serbian Nationalist (Thomas). • 46. All of the Other Ways of Knowing Are Controlled by... Language is such a universal phenomenon in human society. Whenever we write or speak, we use it; whenever we make a promise or ask a question, we use it. In the statement ¡§All of the other ways of knowing are controlled by language¡¨, language is defined as ¡§words¡¨ and this ¡§control¡¨ can be defined as ¡§dominate¡¨. Then this saying seems not so fair to represent the relationship between the four ways of knowing. It is more sensible to say language gives some support or limit to our reason¡Aperception and emotion. It may influence them, but not only one way ¡V the four ways of knowing interact with each other. The function of language is particularly relevant in reason. We should believe our application of reason is within our mind ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, once people notice that language gives some misunderstandings sometimes, language will be less powerful to affect our perception. Emotion, in the strict sense, looks like the way of knowing that is least dependent of language. Language suffers due to its relative inability to adequately represent emotion. For all of us it is very hard to verbalize our emotions exactly. I love my mother so much, but what is love? I respect her, feel happy when talking to her, and I want to take care of her one day like she always does for me now. However, it is not enough and detailed to express love. Even if in poems that are more expert in language, it is lacking of sensible words in presenting our subtle emotions. It can be argued that people will hold different emotions while thinking the same thing in different languages. The reason is when we think in a certain language, we will directly think about the literature and phrases in this language which could favor certain thinking patterns of our cultural background, then easily lead to different emotions and perceptions. Thus, language may influence our emotion in some manner. Actually, language and emotion interact with each other. Consider the lecture given by Martin Luther King (1963): ¡§I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, every hill and mountain shall be made low; the tough places will be made plain¡K¡¨ In this lecture, the orator repeated the phrase ¡§I have a dream¡¨ ...
