Borden Deal, the character of Mr. Wills is written as a round/complex character. Mr. Wills exhibits
three main traits throughout the story, and those traits do not change. First is his success as a
farmer, second is his emotional personality, and third is his intimidating and frightening demeanor
and reputation. While it may be easy to say that Mr. Wills is a dynamic character, his core traits
never changeat any point in the plot. Only the way he is perceived by other characters changes.
The first main character trait of Mr. Wills is his success as a farmer. During the exposition of the
plot as the narrator is introducing all of its characters, he says Mr. Wills was the best farmer in
the community. (Deal, 131) as if it was common knowledge. The narrator s father chimes in
when he says ...that he could drive a stick into the ground and grow a tree out of it. (Deal, 131)
Mr. Wills appears to show his technical proficiency in farming best when he is growing

biggest melons you ever saw. (Deal, 131) This trait did not change during the story; never was it

The second main character trait of Mr. Wills are his volatile emotions. Beside the obvious
examples of him simply showing anger, such as When he plowed his fields you could hear him

anger and then regretting them later. Then I saw it, he was destroying every melon in the patch!

The Parable of the Lost Sheep is one of the many parables Jesus gave during his lifetime. It is
found in the two canonical gospels: Matthew 18:10 14 and Luke 15:3 10. It is also found in the

Title: Transformational versus servant leadership: a difference in leader focus
Author: A. Gregory Stone, Robert F. Russell and Kathleen Patterson
The main content in the article is to compare and contrast both similarities and differences of
transformational leadership and servant leadership. Transformational leadership was introduced
by James MacGregor Burns (1987) and Bernard M. Bass (1985a) while servant leadership was
developed by Robert Greenleaf (1997). Both leadership concepts are frequently applied or adopted
by the researches and people who engage in the industry.
In order to increase subordinate performance, leader who apply transformational leadership is
engage in building commitment to organisation objectives and giving authority to his/her followers
to achieve the defined objectives (Yukl, 1998). Transactional leadership is the other extreme of
transformational leadership due to its lesser democratic authority given to followers, concern on

In contrast, results showed a negative relationship between transactional leadership and job
satisfaction. Research carried out in Journal 2 showed an extensive study on servant leadership
by comparing with others leadership concepts. Results of Farling et al. (1999) discovered that
servant leadership depend on a spiritual base to obtain their sources of values. Study of Horsman
(2001) perceived servant leadership as the prominent leadership model and recognized an
association between servant leadership and the personal features of spirit. Outcomes of both
researches conducted by James Laub (1999) and Rusell (2000, 2001) revealed that further
empirical research should be conducted to prove the validity or accuracy of the relation between
personal values and characteristic of servant leadership
