The Rise Of Post Impressionism
Impressionism was an art movement that started in the mid Nineteenth Century and peaked during
the 1870s. Although Impressionism was also apparent in mediums like music and literature, its
most prominent influence was painting. As it progressed towards Post Impressionism, it opened up
the art world to stylistic rendering, deviated from realism, and introduced the world to modern and
avant garde art. This essay will discuss how it managed to do so and specifically how the
movement advanced into Post Impressionism.
To understand how Impressionism came about, we must first understand how Academic Art rose to
power. Academic Art was introduced in the Renaissance period, Old Masters such as Leonardo and
Michelangelo emphasized the need for painting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After Impressionism peaked in 1870 artists such as CГ©zanne and Seurat started to opt out from
exhibiting altogether, and had produced their own styles. In the eighth and final Impressionist
exhibition, it was suggested that the title Impressionist be dropped as the artists who aligned with
its characteristics were not present, and pieces were judged by its own merit rather than as a group.
Manet s death in 1883 had also signaled the breakup of the Impressionists, being one of the
initiators of the movement. Therefore, the lack of common ideas between the artists led them to
work independently, form new ideas and techniques which led to Post Impressionism.
In conclusion, Post Impressionism itself was not a singular style, but was unified through the
rejection of Impressionism and many post impressionist artists served as inspiration for many
movements to come such as Fauvism, Symbolism, Expressionism and avant garde art in general.
The inherent limitations and discontent in forms of expression was what drove artists from
academic art into Impressionism. It became the first movement to question and redefine what was
acceptable and considered as art. Similarly, the same was done to progress from Impressionism into
Post Impressionism. People have realized the need for constant reevaluation and experimentation to
innovate new ideas fitting for the progressive

Mission Work as a Group
Social groups describe who we are as individuals. Every person is involved in multiple social
groups whether they realize it or not. Some social groups can be determined by a broad
spectrum or a narrow spectrum. Social groups can be spread out throughout different regions as
well as an entire nation as a whole. Every person who attends North Carolina State University is
part of the same social group. That social group can be broken down into many smaller groups,
such as the individual colleges in the University. Within those smaller groups of the different
colleges, the groups can even be divided into smaller groups by major, and then again by
concentration. Every person belongs to dozens of social groups without even realizing.
The social group that has played a huge role in my life is the one of people who has participated in
mission work. Mission work is something that has been very vital in my life ever since I was a
little girl in middle school. I do not know what my life would be today without being part of
groups that did service projects, and volunteer work as well as on many occasions spreading the
knowledge of Christianity. I have been a part of two groups in particular that have truly changed
the way I look at life and how I view other people. Tungsten Baptist Church and First Baptist Youth
Group have both been very influential on life and I cannot imagine my life without these. I started
going to Tungsten Baptist Church when I was just a baby

Covenants And The Roles Of Profit, Priest, And King
Covenants and the Roles of Profit, Priest, and King in Organizational Management
There are 6 major covenants in the Bible, Adam and Eve, pre flood Noah, post flood Noah,
Abrahamic, Moses, and Jesus, with multiple themes of salvation, Messiah, and grace. Each are
promises between God and His people and have four common elements; a benefactor; God, a
beneficiary; man, terms and conditions, and a token or symbol.
Significance and Meaning of a Covenant
To provide a better appreciation of the Bible, a definition of covenant is necessary. A covenant is
a serious life or death affair. It is a relationship; a sacred agreement between God and all humanity.
It is how God chooses to communicate to us, to redeem us, and to guarantee us eternal life in Jesus.
When God created man, he appeared in His image. Man was physically complete; yet spiritually
incomplete. God s plan for salvation was predetermined and calls all people to receive the Holy
Spirit to grow and become spiritually complete (Fountain, 2014) . Expand a bit!!
Messiah Promised: The Old TestamentGenesis 9:13, I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it
will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. In Old Testament times God initiated and
offered an agreement or covenant between Him and one nation, Israel. Entrance into this covenant
was by physical, natural birth (Gen. 17:9 10). These biblical covenants were in effect during the
time before Jesus death, burial, and resurrection. They were

Speckled Band Sparknotes
The story The Adventure of the Speckled Band by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is a popular Sherlock
Holmes novel with supreme detail. The story involves four main characters the investigator
Sherlock Holmes with his partner, Dr.Watson who is very brave. Together they solve the murder
of Julia Stoner, who is the sister of a wise and timid woman named Helen Stoner. The murder was
at Dr.Roylott s family estate called the Stoke Moran. This murder took place on April 1883 at the
family estate. During the story Helen Stoner tells Sherlock and Dr.Watson that ever since their step
father, Dr.Roylott came back everything was strange, so immediately Sherlock had his suspicions
for Dr.Roylott. During Helens meeting with Sherlock Holmesand Dr.Watson she tells them that
she fears for her life and wants to know why Julia was murdered on the eve of Julia s wedding.
Although Sherlock has his suspicions for Dr.Roylott he still looks out for other clues. Towards the
beginning of the story Sherlock Holmes just finds out about the murder of Julia Stoner. The first
thing he did was grab Dr.Watson and head out to the crime scene. Later that day Helen Stoner Julia
s sister walks in and talks... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

murder. The story does not tell you Helen Stoner s future from that day on, but it does give hints
on what her future could possible. Which is she inherited the family estate and the family money.
At the same time she could end up getting married and having a family while living in the Stoke
Moran. When Sherlock found Dr.Roylott dead in the worn down wooden chair, he was not as
surprised as you would think he would because of the suspicions she had for Dr.Roylott. Sherlock

Descriptive Essay About Fashion
There were times when women were restricted to wear certain garments like a skirt that does not
go past the knee, pants, and anything men considered sexy. Through trials and tribulations women
have defied all odds with fashion. When I think of fashion I think of self expression, thanks to the
women before me. One woman who fully inspired my fashionsense, is Betsey Johnson. With her
fun, unique, and colorful fashion lines, she helped me to find my style. She is also a huge
inspiration to me, as a fashion designer. Betsey Johnson is a fashion designer, well known for her
eccentric but ladylike designs; Puffy skirts to make you feel like a beautiful ballerina,
embellishments to make you sparkle and shine when your seen, and eye catching accessories that
make you want to buy her garments. Her childhood interest of dance and costume laid the
foundation for her creativity. Betsey attended Pratt Institute and later graduated from Syracuse
University. She did not in fact go to school for fashion design, but her creative juices pulled her
toward fashion. Upon finishing school Betsey landed an internship with Mademoiselle publication.
She won a contest at the magazine, thus triggering her career; Fulltime fashion designer for
Paraphernalia, made known a boutique called Betsey Bunky Nini, and other successful ventures
she did. Although she has quite the success story, she has had a fair amount of mishaps as well.
She put out her own collection in 1978, that did exceptional well,

Compensation For Breach Of Contract
Section 74: Compensation for breach of contract where penalty stipulated for Section 74 lays
down that When a contract has been broken, if a sum is named in the contract as the amount be

party complaining of the breach is entitled, whether or not actual damage or loss is proved to
have been caused thereby, to receive from the party who has broken the contract reasonable
compensation not exceeding the amount so named or, as the case may be, the penalty stipulated
for. Illustrations A contracts with B to pay B Rs. 1,000 if he fails to pay B Rs. 500 on a given
day. A fails to pay B Rs. 500 on that day. B is entitled to recover from A such compensation, not
exceeding Rs. 1,000, as the court considers reasonable. In this section the only exception is when

Analysis Of The Dead By Charlie Higson
This summer, I read the book The Dead by Charlie Higson is a novel about a large group of kids,
left to live by themselves without guidance from their parents. In this run down setting of
London, England, people who are over the age of 16 turn into kid hunting, flesh eating zombies.
The younger kids are forced to live on their own, fighting for life against the wrath of the Adults.
The message Higson showed in his book is: after people are forced to rely on themselves without
experience, their lack of experience and knowledge will lead them to failure.
In the novel, the kids face constant fear and by telling the story from a 3rd person omniscient
point of view, Higson can really show how they are forced to only appeal their need for survival.
The adults are a mysterious entity to the kids. Since they are doing things only to live, their
actions are limited. We think there s something in us that adults need to eat in order to stay alive,
(375). They move in groups to keep support between the kids, and by doing this, their fear of
adults is slightly eased.
Connecting the fact that the kids are living in fear to that London is big, the kids are constantly
moving. The possibilities of adults attacking the kids at any point are endless. And when it had
gotten really bad, when those adults who d gotten sick but hadn t died had started to turn on the
kids, attacking them like wild animals, (8). These kids start to constantly move because of their
fear. This causes

Analyse Negative Consequences And Reinforcement
4.List master teacher s rules for student behavior (in addition to procedures):
Students are required to listen to what the teacher says at all times. Before going to the teacher
with a problem with a fellow student, they have to work it out first. However, the younger grades
usually go to the teacher first; however, the teacher will tell them to work it out. This ends up
working the majority of the time, though there are times when the teacher needs to step in.
5.Evaluate positive consequences and reinforcement (positive rewards) used:
If a student worked hard and tried their best, they got to put a sticker on their chart. Once they get a
certain amount, a student earns a prize.

Essay about Fiddler on the Roof
The musical called Fiddler on the Roof was set in Anatefka, Russia around 1880 1900. During this
time, in this small town, held Tevya and his family. Tevya, husband and father of five daughters, is
a cynical, obstinate, determined, yet sensitive to feelings, and caring man. He is a clever
philosopher and sticks very much to tradition. In the story
Tevya says Anatefka is our home...to keep in balance by tradition...
This explains the title which is personally understood that through
Tevya s eyes, without tradition, life would be as a fiddler on a roof, unbalanced. This story,
demonstrates the precarious lives of the
Russian Jews of the late 19th century. The main character, Tevya, compares their lives to that of a
fiddler on a roof ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The only main difference was that Hodel and her fiancГ© didn t expect permission. They wanted
Tevya s blessings. Tevya, puzzled, upset, and surprised, begins to slowly accept after thinking of
the pros and cons. When Tevya does accept, he tells his wife and runs as if not to get scolded.
The third eldest daughter Chava had a guy in mind also. The only problem was that this guy
Fyedka was a Russian Gentile, not a
Jew. When Tevya noticed that, he could definitely not have that at all. Tevya at first would not
give them his blessing, which would break too much tradition, in Tevyas eyes at that time he only
saw four daughters. In the end of the musical, the whole village was forced to leave by the
Cossaks at the Tzars command. Things still went well with the family leaving because they were
leaving to begin a new life in
America with hope. Tevya was eventually reconciled the fact that there was nothing wrong with a
marriage that wasn t arranged by the families and also outside religion. Throughout the story, the
concept of changing times is brought up. Tevya accepts that times and traditions are changing, his
daughters are grown up and in love, and he accepts the marriages which shows the first step of
accepting these changes. As the Tevya says, with everybody knowing their place in the order of
life, they are allowed to

Vlad The Impaler Torture
These are just some of the many gruesome torture methods likely to be enacted by Vlad the Impaler.
Vlad the Impaler usually had a horse attached to each of the victim s legs and a sharpened stake
was gradually forced into the body. The end of the stake was usually oiled and care was taken that
the stake not be too sharp, else the victim might die too rapidly from shock. Normally the stake was
inserted into the body through the buttocks and was often forced through the body until it emerged
from the mouth. However, there were many instances where victims were impaled through other
bodily orifices or through the abdomen or chest. Infants were sometimes impaled on the stake
forced through their mothers chests. The records indicate that victims were sometimes impaled so
that they hung upside down on the stake. As stated by Rebecca Lugo
The Judas Cradle was perhaps a little less sadistic than impalement but still gruesome. The
victim s anus or vagina would be placed over the point of the pyramid shaped cradle, then
lowered on it by ropes. The intended effect was to stretch the orifice over a long period of time, or
to slowly impale. The victim was usually ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was usually used for women accused of conducting abortions or of adultery. The claws were
often placed, red hot, on the victim s exposed breasts, the spikes penetrating to achieve a
powerful grasp. They were then pulled to rip off or shred the breasts. If the victim wasn t killed
she would be scarred for life as her breasts were literally torn apart.A common variant was known
as The Spider, which is a similar instrument attached to a wall. The victim s breasts were fixed to
the claws and the woman was pulled by the torturer away from the wall, removing or mutilating
them. This was a brutal punishment that often resulted in the victim s death according to David

Nikola Tesla s Struggle To Imigrate To The United States
Nikola Tesla was born around July 9 10 in the year 1856. He was raised from humble Serbian
parents whom wanted him to become either a priest or a soldier. At the age of 21 in 1877, Tesla
had made the decision to immigrate to the United States and follow his dream of attempting to
harvest the power of the Niagara Falls. Although his parents did not approve of his actions he
took the chance to prove his professors and the others who had humiliated him wrong. Tesla
arrived in New York on June 6,1884 at the age of 28. With only four cents and a dream, Tesla
went on a journey to visit Edison to share his ideas with him and hope to make something good out
of it. Fortunately, one of Edison s associate s in Europe had written a letter to Edison talking... Show

make it possible. Through out the process of figuring this out, people began to lose hope. They
didn t think that there would be a way of successfully gaining the power of the Niagara. Tesla
was the only one who didn t give up on this goal. It wasn t until 1896 that Tesla had accomplished
his life long dream. The generators that he had created were connected to transformers of 22
thousand volts, which were then transfers to power lines. Electrical power was now available in
many places. Because of his hope and determination he was able to do what everyone else believed
to be impossible. This was now officially the start of a new electrical

Washington. Now headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, Boeing is the world s largest and perhaps
most well known aerospace firm. According to their website (www.boeing.com), the company
operates in three principal segments commercial airplanes; military aircraft and missiles; and space
and communications. The commercial airplane division consists of the 717, 737, 747, 757, 767 and

With regard to the 767, Boeing was able to use parametric cost techniques to formulate an accurate
estimate of total assembly hours required, thereby facilitating net present value (NPV) analysis of
the project. Besides the above mentioned tools and methods, Boeing also employed a variety of
human resources to plan, schedule and adjust project performance. There were Audit Teams that
were composed of seasoned Boeing managers, audit teams investigated every facet of the product
development process including finance, manufacturing, technology and management. These teams
promoted project development by catching errors early and directly reporting them to upper
management for resolution. The Management Visibility System schedules were prominently
posted for review, and weekly status meetings were held in which department supervisors notified
each other of their needs and potential problems. Supervisors were required to stand up at
meetings and explain why they were unable to meet production goals. Managers were then
entrusted with clearing all hurdles to achieving those goals. The Production Change Board (PCB)
reviewed all engineering related change requests and assessed their cost and schedule impact. A
feasible implementation approach was then developed for each approved request .By resorting to a
wide variety of technical and human resource planning and coordination tools and strategies,
Boeing was able to tackle the 767 development project

Nuclear Power Sources For Space Exploration
Nuclear powered unmanned space vehicles (USVs) represent the future of deep space exploration.
Deep space missions require a power source that can travel further, go faster, and last longer than
traditional chemical rockets or solar powered propulsion systems; nuclear powered platforms
provide an ideal alternative. The United States is currently working cooperatively with other
countries to research and develop nuclear powersources for space travel. Examples of unmanned
deep space missions include space exploration, payload delivery, and asteroid interception. The
purpose of this paper is to explore the different options that nuclear power can provide for platform
power, propulsion, and maneuverability that meet the specific demands... Show more content on

Chemical rockets alone are not practical for deep space missions and alternative solutions need to
be examined (Malagari Sullivan, 2015). Autonomous unmanned spacecraft will be able to
successfully fulfill the long term vision of interplanetary travel; performing research and resupply
but the right energy and propulsion system once in orbit must be utilized. The one technology that
currently meets the criteria to power unmanned spacecraft while in orbit are nuclear powered
propulsion systems. When discussing spacecraft power and propulsion systems it must be
understood that there are two parts that must be considered; the first is the rocket booster which
launches the spacecraft into orbit and the second is the power system that moves the payload to its
final destination (Chiravalle, 2008). As of now, no platform has been launched into space by
nuclear power but it is feasible. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has
considered using nuclear assisted boosters along with chemical rockets to launch spacecraft which
would reduce mass and reduce cost (Sample, 2001). Once the platform is in orbit, nuclear power
has proved to be successful in unmanned rocket missions (Malagari Sullivan, 2015). One of the
most notable USVs is

American Women In The 20th Century
The 20th century precipitated a myriad of social and technological changes in The United States,
and women as a group experienced one of the earliest examples of these shifts. Women became
more active in the workplace, political sphere, and the feminist/ suffrage movement was at its
height. The reception to this shift in gender roles had mixed responses with many claiming that the
new modern womanwas an assault on convention. T.S. Elliot was no exception. The proposition
that Eliot was hostile to the modernization of women is founded on his adoration for traditionalism
and the unattainable, golden age. Some individuals of the 20th centuryattempted to oppose the
cultural shift that was being determined as causally related to the death of culture.... Show more

Albert has recently has recently come back from the war (another plague that is associated with this
time period), and the marriage of Lil and Albert is strained. In the setting Eliot creates, Lil and
another women are discussing the statement of her marriage. Two main topics of discussion
arise of their dialogue. The first is that Albert is no longer attracted to Lil; she has poor teeth and
after having five children looks antique even though she is only thirty one (155 156). The other
woman warns Lil that all Albert wants [is] a good time , and that if she don t give it him, there s
others will (147 194); in response seems unalarmed by the prospect, but rather she asserts that
she wants to know who would give him a good time because she would then know who to thank
(151). The second piece of conversation that is revealed to the reader is that Lil had spent
money that Albert gave her for dental repairs to purchase abortion pills. The response from the
friend mirrors that of Eliot s own view of marriage; she asks, What you get married for if you don
t want children? (163). Eliot s traditional view held that the purpose of sex in a marriage is
procreation alone. This is, of course, no longer the purpose of sex when The Wasteland is written.
Therefore, when Eliot writes about the horrendous nature of relationships of modern times he paints
Lil who embodies women on the whole as the cause for the futility of relationships. He believes that
a woman should return to the honorable, traditional position of mother and spouse, subsequently,
when Lil aborts her fetus she is abolishing the custom that he

Jingoism Research Paper
Jingoism is a term which many people are not familiar with. Extreme chauvinism or nationalism
marked especially by a belligerent foreign policy is the definition of Jingoism (Merriam
webster.com). Chauvinism is extremely close to jingoism when it comes to their definitions; the
main difference between the two words is that Jingoism is used to describe violent acts of
patriotism or nationalism. Violent acts of patriotism have become for widespread in recent years;
for example, ever since the events of 9/11 the United Stateshas been waging a war on terror. There
seems to be no end to radical Islamist groups based in the Middle East who hope to destroy the
United States, from more recent groups such as ISIS, to older enemies such as al Qaeda,... Show

One solution to jingoism is to spread awareness of jingoism; furthermore, if the general
population knew the meaning of the word, it would be more recognizable. In America, once
larger amounts of people learn when to spot jingoism, slowly over time jingoism would stop
completely due to the fear of voter backlash. The people will see and understand what the
government is trying to achieve, and the people will check when the government becomes too
warlike or when they use excessive force, such as the threat India made towards Amazon. While
constituents may not be able to stop what the government is doing, they can make sure that come
next election year that member of the government will not be elected again. No professional or

The Civil War Of 1861
The Civil War took place in 1861 and it lasted up until 1865. It was a war between the United
States or, The Union army rather, and eleven deep rooted southern states known as the
Confederacy. The Civil War occurred mainly as a direct response to slavery. The South preferred
to keep slavery and the North simply wanted to preserve the Union. However, there were many
other incidents that occurred and there were different battles that caused the Civil War to have
its end results. Those battles will be addressed in the following paragraphs. The very first battle
took place in 1861. It was known as both The Battle of Bull Run and the Battle of Manassas. The
Union army, led by General Irvin Manassas, was slightly larger than the Confederate army, led by
P.G.T. Beauregard. It took place in northern Virginia when the Union army marched to Manassas
in attempt to attack the Confederates. The attack appeared to be successful, but the Confederates
managed to survive. They later went on to counterattack the Union and McDowell and his army
were forced to retreat back to Washington. This battle was very detrimental and overwhelming for
the Union army, and left them in a state of disbelief. However, in 1861 the Union were still able
to make substantial progress. They were eventually able to proclaim western Virginia a new
renowned state admitted as West Virginia in 1863. Shortly after the Battle of Bull Run, the war
took a turn in favor of the Union. A Union regiment directed by David

Bloods Vs Crips
Gang violence in America is a plague which ends the lives of thousands of youth. The two most
notorious gangs, mostly located near Los Angeles, California, are are the Bloods and the Crips.
Many things will be covered concerning these specific gangs to understand the basics of these two
rival gangs, one must understand how they gain members, what actions they take to mark their
territory, and what symbols they use to identify themselves.
The history of the Bloods starts in Rikers Island Prison. Omar Original Gangster (OG) Mack Portee
and Leonard Dead Eye McKenzie formed the gang to protect African American inmates from other
gangs. Multiple sets formed from this also known as groups that branched off from the gang. There

common form is three dots in a triangle burned or tattooed onto the skin is called a dog paw. The
common places you find these is in between the finger and the thumb but they can be found on the
stomach and shoulder also. Bloods rep the number 5, the number five is what they use to identify
on other tattoos. A five point crown is another identifier for the bloods. They will add blood to the
bottom of the crown as another identifier.
The crips have most difficult identifiers due to location. The crips represent to the right by tilting

disrespect towards the bloods. The crips use a 6 point star to show life, loyalty, love, knowledge,
wisdom, and understanding. Colors they represent include blue, gray, orange or purple bandanas

Corporate Financial Crime And Its Effects On Our Economy...
When you get paid, where is your payroll check deposited or cashed? If you need to pay a bill,
what is your usual method of paying? If you need to send money to a relative, how do you
typically send it? If you purchase an item, how do you typically pay? What is the common factor
in these scenarios? In most circumstances the answer would be your bank. Paychecks are usually
direct deposited or cashed in your bank account. You generally pay bills using your bank s bill
pay system. You can transfer or wire money from your bank account to another account using
your bank s system. You typically purchase items with your debit card or credit card. You utilize
your bank daily for many of your needs. Now what happens when the bank that you trusted and
have been loyal to is involved in a corporate financial crime? Corporate financial crime can have
devastating effects on our economy, businesses and consumers. December 2007 June 2009 was one
of the worst economic recessions our country faced since the Great Depression. One of the major
factors the led to this recession was the implementation of subprime mortgagelending. Mortgage
lenders offered loans to borrowers with unfavorable credit; payment delinquencies charge offs

The Role of Color in the Art of Vincent Van Gogh
What role did colour play in the art of Van Gogh?
When people think of Vincent van Gogh they immediately think colour . This is mostly due to his
bright French Paintings, but his first paintings in the Netherlands are never thought of as colourful.
This is untrue, colour was always an important element in Gogh s entire lifetime of works. Even
though the melancholy paintings from Holland and the glowing works from Paris seem completely
different they are a result of the same theory and practise.
Vincent Van Goghwas mostly self thought and began his career in art by studding nineteenth
century how to draw books and copying prints he liked. He felt like he had to master drawing
techniques first in order to become a great painter. Van Gogh also had the idea that he had to
work with black and white before he could master colour. He focused on form and perspective
sketches. When he grew strong enough at drawing he began to start using colour. He became very
adventurous and his fearless colour palette developed into one of the most significant features of
his later works.
Van Gogh produced over 150 watercolour paintings in his short life. These didn t feature his use of
texture but, they are undoubtedly his due to the recognizable use of vibrant colour. Originally he
used watercolour to add shadows to his drawings but the more he worked with them the greater he
got and they became finished masterpieces.
After just five years of studying art Gogh felt ambitious and wanted to

Gargoyles Research Paper
Gargoyles were defining elements of the Gothic period, constructed primarily by Elliot Viollet Le
Duc in the 19th century as part of a restoration project of the Notre Dame Cathedral. Gargoyles
served as a political commentary of the times, and a functional purpose of protecting the
Cathedral. The most iconic gargoyle, the Pensive Demon, sits atop Notre Dame Cathedral s South
tower. This statue is actually a chimera, not a gargoyle, since it isn t functional to the building and
is purely decor. Also referred to as the Melancholy Demon or Le Stryge, which according to
mythology, is a half woman, half bird demon that seeks to harm children, found prominently in
cemeteries . Le Stryge was made in the 19th century during which time a hierarchy... Show more

In the middle ages, gargoyles were the subject of pagan and demonic conversation , but for
Viollet le Duc they represented salvation, protection, and the soul of the building. Gargoyles that
sat near the great bells provided amplification of sound when they went off, an important
function that told citizens when to awake or pray . Viollet le Duc was appalled at the actions of
the rebels that recklessly tore down the old gargoyles and replaced them with lead pipes, which
proved ineffective and caused significant water damage to the cathedral. Gargoyles served a very
important purpose of steering water out of the cathedral along with being artistically sound.
While researching, Viollet le Duc realized how useful it is to multiply gargoyles in masses so
that the drainage system would be perfected. Limestone was a material that could be cut into
long, thin shapes and would further accentuate decorative qualities of the gargoyles, along with
helping to anchor the building and provide extra support . Viollet le Duc insisted on proving the
gargoyles functionality to a point of absurdity. He created gargoyles that held pots to further
steer water away. He also formulated canopies for the gargoyles, during a time where canopies
were reserved for saints and holy purposes. Viollet le Duc either found his gargoyles to be sacred,
or he was further making fun of religion and its symbolism and his distaste for it . All of these
elements prove a point that Viollet le Duc s main goal was preservation of the structure after
restoration, and he found gargoyles to be the most modern and functional elements of its gothic

Anne Frank Analysis
The Diary of a Young Girl I see the world being slowly transformed into a wilderness; I hear the
approaching thunder that, one day, will destroy us too. I feel the suffering of millions. And yet,
when I look up at the sky, I somehow feel that everything will change for the better, that this cruelty
too shall end, that peace and tranquility will return once more. Anne Frank. Anne Frank was a
Jewish girl in 1942 when her family had to go into hiding in the Secret Annex , an empty section
behind her father s company, after her sister Margot was called up to go to a labor camp.
Eventually they were joined by the van Daan family (van Pels) and Alfred Dussel (Fritz Pfeffer).
Although it might appear that conflict is the main cause because conflict between Nazi Germany
and Jews caused the Franks to move into hiding, and there is also conflict between people in the
Annex, that s incorrect because change in power turned Hitler and the party into power, and
change of living conditions caused conflict in the Annex. In The Diary of a Young Girl, the
driving force is change. It is the underlying cause of her starting to talk with Peter, understand her
mother, and her life changing. First off, her life changed during the time in the Annex. She notices
that herself: If I think now of my life in 1942, it all seems so unreal. It was quite a different Anne
who enjoyed that heavenly existence from the Anne who has grown wise within these walls. Yes, it
was a heavenly life. Boy friends

Evaluating American Values
Hartz and Tocqueville concur that Americans embrace and agree on essential points or
fundamental values like liberty, democracy, and equality. These are easy words to agree to but the
application of these values can be vastly different depending on who is asked. How American
values are defined and applied has split Americans along racial, gender, and class lines since the
formation of the United States. The declaration of independence brought with it differences in the
application of American values. The founding fathers had different ideas of equality and liberty for
different groups of people. Thomas Jefferson wrote in the declaration, all men are created equal
(The Declaration of Independence) . At the time, women could not own land, African Americans

Everyone supports the concept of free speech, but disagrees on how it should be exercised. Some
people feel that speech should be limited when they find it hateful or disrespectful. Others believe
free speech should be applied equally to everyone. The debate of kneeling during the national
anthem has stimulated a large debate and split public opinion. Some argue that kneeling is
distasteful and dishonors the flag. Others feel that kneeling is a peaceful protest that the first
amendment protects. Some believe that the factor of race has exaggerated the issue because the first
person to protest by kneeling during the anthem is black. Free speech divides the public opinion
and some feel it should be restricted depending on what the protest consists of.
All americans believe in certain core values. Everyone can agree that they support democracy,
liberty, and equality. A split in public opinion occurs because people have different opinions on
these basic american values and how they should be enforced or regulated. In other words,
Americans support universal concepts and values, but do not agree on how they should be

To support this, the logistics, manufacturing and basic installation of the elevators was to be all
done in India. But, this meant that the original Swiss policies and procedures used at Schindler s
operations in Europe would need to be transferred over to their manufacturing in India. Based on
his research of the Indian market and its culture, Silvio was aware that it would not be an easy task
for their Indian manufacturing to learn and incorporate the procedures.
So, Silvio decided to minimize the learning curve burden for their manufacturing operations by
picking only two elevator configurations that Schindler India would build:
ВЎVModel S001 for low rise buildings ВЎV completely outsourced to local suppliers
ВЎVModel S003P for medium rise buildings ВЎV imported
He also decided that these elevators would be standardized and no customization would be allowed
for the Indian market. This was to keep complexity and costs low and to make Schindler an efficient
manufacturing operation.
However, there were several problems with this strategy:
ВЎVSchindler s corporate structure and management practices were misaligned to the Indian
subsidiary s objectives
ВЎVThe generic offerings S001 and S003P had thin profit margins and they did not fit well within
the business plan of offering customized sales and service

History and Production of Coffee and its Presence in the...
Ever since its discovery, coffee has continued to spread its bitter or sweet taste all over the world.
When taking a look at coffee s journey from its simple beginnings, to its complex processing, and
to its extensive use and consumption, one cannot help but be amazed at how prosperous and vital it
has become American foodways.
Coffee s backgrounds are surprisingly diverse. Many of the characteristics, as well as the credit
for its distribution, have come from several different cultures. For example, the word coffee is
devised from the Arabic root word qahwah (Kaye 557). Kaye continues to explain how although
the etymology originally derives from qahwah, the evolution to today s word coffee is also greatly

There are currently four methods for harvesting coffee (Mangal 153 154). The first method is
stripping the leaves of a coffee tree for coffee cherries. This method is faster than the second
method combing the trees for only ripe cherries but of course, although the second method is much
slower, it is advantageous in that the quality of the cultivated coffee is much higher, and the unripe
cherries will become ripe regardless. The third method is mechanically shaking trees, causing
cherries to fall to the ground from where they can be picked up easily, or using tractors with rotating
brushes, which damage the entire plant entirely in exchange for extremely fast harvesting. The
final, most time consuming method is to simply hand pick all the cherries.
How one wishes to approach the harvesting depends on the purpose of the coffee. For personal
use, hand picking does not sound so bad, since only a tiny amount of cherries are required for an
individual or a small family, but when it comes to mass production of coffee, the mechanized
process obviously makes more sense.
Already, so many decisions need to be made when growing coffee, but complexity in coffee
making has only just begun. Spurrier s article from earlier foreshadows this next topic processing
which is the reason most people do not grow their own coffee and leave it to the professionals.
Mangal explains the three ways coffee can be processed to produce a pre roasted green coffee bean

explaining that I was not injured, but that I had done a lot of damage to the vehicle: Mom, don t

how the roads were super icy, and I was driving as careful as I could: I slid off the road... didn t

explain to the insurance company exactly what happened, and say it in a way that made it seem
like I deserved to receive money to repair the car. This was a lot different than telling my parents,

Relationship Between Corporate And Corporate Social...
This essay will evaluate the relationship between Corporate Strategy, Corporate Social
Responsibility and will give some examples in order to give an idea to companies why they should
engage in CSR and the consequences of engaging on it. It has been told that engaging on Corporate
Social Responsibility is a cost, but recently has been demonstrated that if it is well managed the
money that you put on CSR implementation can be taken into account as an investment.
Companies engage in CSR not only because moral questions, it has been demonstrated that CSR is
a door to an increase in the reputation of the company. In the long term companies realize that
customers really appreciate the engagement of the company to social or environmental activities.
Managers nowadays realize on how the consumers mind are changing towards a more responsible
consumption and how these consumers look for information on how the products they consume
have been produced. So these managers in order to increase in a long term base the good reputation
of the company are investing nowadays on changing their strategy and trying all the company to
engage in responsible practices. As explained in more detail in this paper the consequences of
engaging in CSR are worth more than the cost of changing the company strategy. Some of them are
the increase of consumer loyalty, investor attractiveness, political stability and economic benefits. 2.

The television advertising targeted at children is harmful. The Journal of the American Medical
Association has said children between ages of two and seventeen watch an annual average of
15,000 to 18,000 hours of television, compared with 12,000 hours spent per year in school
(Beacon Press, 2000). This indicates that children watch television for too many hours, so the
advertising companies target children to increase the number of people, watching their
programs. We can see from the above that the fast food industry spends a lot of money to just
advertise to children increase their profit. Also, based on the research of the Food Advertising to
Children and Teen Scores, show that the average preschooler between the ages 2 to 5 see almost
three fast food advertisements every day. The children between the ages 6 to 11 see three and a
half advertisements for each day, and teenagers see almost five advertisements for every day
(Yale University s Rudd Center, 2009). In other words, average children ages 2 to 11 see fast food
advertisements approximately 3 times for each day. If children watch advertisements from
television every day, within one year children will have watched fast food advertisements
approximately 2,000 times a year. This is a very serious amount that should cause concern with our
young children.

Examples Of Archetypal Criticism
CHAPTER II Archetypal criticism
The roots of archetypal criticism
Archetypal criticism is a type of literary criticism that focuses on particular narrative patterns,
archetypes, motifs, themes or characters that recur in a particular literary work or in literature in
general.
Archetypal criticism has its basis in the application of concepts developed in psychoanalysis and in
mythology to the study of literature. The main tendency of this approach to criticism resembles to
the early conception of form in Western thought.
Collective unconscious lays beneath the personal conscious and personal unconscious. As Jung

problems. I know what to do when I come to a threshold in my life now. A myth can tell me

Myths tell me where I am. (1988, 15) An archetype can be defined as an original type or model
after which similar things are patterned, a prototype, an ideal example. An archetype, as used in
literature, is a recurrent, universal pattern that evokes a deep, emotional response invirtually all

it acts as an organizing principle on the things we see or do. It works the way that instincts work in

For Jung the archetypes taken as a whole represent the sum of the latent potentialities of the human
psyche a vast store of ancestral knowledge about the profound relations between God, man, and

Jesus Change
During class time, we learned about Jesus s impact on people. Many people were changed a lot.
They became kinder and more friendly. We could see this through people s reactions to God and
the good things they did. Through Jesus s teaching, not only Paul and people in the Bible, but every
Christian is becoming better people.
Among all the apostles, the change from Saul to Paul is the most amazing one for me. The
name Saul was once a deadly word for the citizens under Saul s control. He hated Christians at first.
He arrested and even killed a lot of apostles. Evil and cruel are the two words that best described
him. He was a demon before he was changed by Jesus.

When Jesus appeared in front of him and told him that he needed to save Saul, he hesitated. His

evilness that stopped a faithful apostle from obeying God s order must be huge. It indirectly
showed how bad Saul was and how huge the change was as well. The reaction of Ananias is an
important element in here. Saul s changes were unbelievable. He was such an evil killer three
days ago. No one could imagine that three days later, he became a true believer of Jesus. Jesus
purified his soul. This made him act like a savior. All the sins were washed away. He became a
faithful follower in Jesus and God. The bible talked a lot about his faith after being healed. In
Acts 21, Paul was arrested by the Jews. He was with the people that grabbed him. After he turned
to Jesus, he showed his faith towards God. He could have been with the persecutors and keep
looking for Christians. However, he gave up the life he was used to and changed all his
characteristics. Acts 22 described the things he did after he was released. He said, I was very

According to Merriam Webster Medical Dictionary, sexual orientation refers to the inclination of
an individual with respect to heterosexual, homosexual, and bisexual behavior. The famous
Kinsey Reports by Alfred Kinsey (1948) claims that about 10% of American adults are
homosexual. This astonishing figure is often presented as fact but is often criticized to be highly
overestimated by academia. (Refer to Appendix 1 for figures presented by other institutes).
Studies by National Survey of Sexual Attitudes and Lifestyles reviews that lesbian increased from
2.8% in 1990 to 9.7% in 2000 while gay reported to rise from 5.3% in 1990 to 8.4% in 2000,
depicting upward trends that are consistent with reports ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another impact brought by this changing trend is the introduction of same sex marriage (Appendix
3). Below is a world map depicting the legality of homosexuality in various part of the world.
Dark Sides
As legal issues pertaining to homosexual have received more national attention, courts around the
world have been reconsidering gays and lesbians rights in parenting and custody cases. But the
general assumption that homosexual parents have adverse effects on the psychological and social
development on a child makes it extremely difficult for gays and lesbians to become parents.
However, the validity of this assumption is highly disputable as both parties claim to have statistical
evident.
On top of that, the greater willingness of people to be truthful about their sexual orientation has
brought repercussion. Their visibility has invited the attention of anti gay activists. Gay rights
movements are often accompany by anti gay rallies and many religious bodies have also express
disapproval at this new sexual trend (Figure above). Homosexuals are also more susceptible to
hatred assault compared to their straight counterpart. According to Federal Bureau of Investigation
(FBI), 13% of the hate crimes occurred in U.S is targeted at homosexuals; sharp increase due to
greater number of people who come out of closet.
Reports also assert that homosexuality is triggering HIV escalation.

Everyday, throughout the world, restaurants throw away large amounts of uneaten food. Public
Health laws prevent them from re serving or reusing this food, and, for similar reasons, they cannot
simply give it away to hungry people. We opted to review this as our messy situation due to the
impact that this has on people and the environment.
Response and Revision
The issue of food waste could be improved should all restaurants and food services participate in a
composting program. Having an effective composting program would help reduce solid waste
disposal fees and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An educational campaign should be launched to inform and encourage new behaviors. All
consumers should be shown the benefit of composting versus traditional disposal methods. Once
consumers have been properly educated, encouraging participation is key. This would include
providing a composting method for waste to be properly composted. The food recycling program
would provide the means for all associates to begin composting donations rather than disposing
via trash receptacles. Food compost bins should be provided in any food service industry to allow
for proper disposal of waste. Companies should locate composting facilities and begin distributing
food waste to said facilities rather than traditional trash disposal services. If possible and practical,
companies should work to create their own composting stations.
True success will be measured when all food service companies send their food materials for
composting. As output is measured, immediate improvement cannot be expected, but steady and
sustained increases in the amount of food waste sent to compost is expected. Tonnage is the most
consistent way to measure improvement.
There is also the important element of rewarding improved behaviors. Companies should provide
composting initiatives to their employees. Companies can be rewarded with government incentives
for implementation and maintenance of the composting problems.
As a case study for success, consider Middlebury College in

Rural Areas Is Poor And Lagging Behind The Rest Of The...
Body:
I.Main Point 1. The facts show that education in rural areas is poor and lagging behind the rest of
the country.
A.The first common fact that can be seen is the lack of resources in rural schools. The U.S.
Department of Education reported that rural teachers on the average earn less money and work
longer hours than there counterparts in other geographic regions and open teacher positions are
harder to fill. Less pay and harder work is what awaits the rural teacher.
B.The second fact is that rural schools need funds and materials to do their job. According to the
National Education Program, Rural schools serve over 40 percent of our nation s students, but
receive only 22 percent of federal education funding.
C.A third fact facing rural schools is the rate of poverty of the students and their families. .
According to Dan Fishman, high school teacher in rural New Mexico and the former director of K
12 programs at The Philanthropy Roundtable overall, one in four rural children live in poverty, and
of the 50 U.S. counties with the highest child poverty rates, 48 are rural. This causes the school to
be faced with many other problems such as nutrition and social issues.
Transition: Now that we understand some of the facts, let us look at some of the leading causes of
the poor education in rural America.
II.Main Point 2. The leading causes for substandard education in rustic areas of the United States
are common and readily identifiable.
A.A Lack of

My Love For Photography Essay
Late elementary school afternoons at 2601 Parkside Drive were where my thirst for exploring
the world s clandestine beauties blossomed into something new. Whilst others engrossed
themselves in competitive foursquare and portable video games, I immersed myself in
sketching images of places I dreamt of visiting. All I needed was a pencil in my hand, a
picturesque landscape on my mind, and my Canson sketchbook on the table. The possibilities
were then endless. Slowly, the tabula rasa of this book filled to the brim with a lust to explore
and innovate. Inside, Vietnamese villages that I had once seen on the Internet were now laden
with sandy beaches and swaying palm trees. Iceland s greenery was now characterized by tropical
rainforests and towering skyscrapers. Venice s magnificent canals were now surrounded by great
expanses of icy mountain ranges. Over the years, as this lust diffused into every nook and cranny...

Through endless hours of photographing came revelation upon revelation; it truly was a radical
departure from what my eyes perceived through the sketches of my youth. Creativity to me no
longer represented just originality, it was also a conduit for instilling an appreciation in what can
t be seen. Mastering the camera s effects to manipulate photos illustrated this beauty of
perspective diversity leaving shots overexposed, oversaturated, too wide and too narrow revealed
life in different lights. As a child, I placed my finger on the shutter release of my curiosity and
heard two simultaneous clicks, one for sketching and the other for photography. They changed me;
they caused the pitch black display of my individuality to fade into a beautiful mГ©lange of
colors, each one representing a new creative spark. These sparks then swathed the waters of my
consciousness like fire across paper, seamlessly integrating into my skills, passions, and eventually,

Great Plains Animal Shelter
Volunteering at the Great Plains animal shelter has been a great experience. Before we were able
to get started on our volunteer hours we first had to sit through an orientation where we learned
what all the shelter expects from us as volunteers and how to properly care and handle the
animals. Being that I have had animals my whole life and have had a lot of experience with
animals I felt very comfortable with handling all of the animals. Even though I have had a lot of
experience I still know animals can be unpredictable and can turn on a dime. This is why it is so
important to pay close attention and observe every animal s behavior before handling them. One of
the first things we were taught at the shelter was how to properly remove an... Show more content

If one thing doesn t get done right it can lead to complications or can even affect the health of the
animals. For example, proper sterilizing and disinfecting of equipment and objects is critical in an
animal shelter. Every morning every cat cage and dog kennel gets thoroughly cleaned. This means
removing any soiled bedding and whipping all the surfaces with disinfectant spray. If an animal
has been adopted and a new animal is going in their previous cage, it must be completely sterile
for the new animal. This is so important because it helps prevent cross contamination therefore
prevents the spread of fleas, bodily fluids, and germs which will then help prevent illnesses. With
that being said we have also learned the importance of washing and sanitizing our hand before and
in between handling each animal. This especially is critical when handling the cats, for some of
the cats in the shelter may be ill and you do not want to spread those germs from one cat to

Industrial Farm Animal Production ( Ifap ) Is A Recent...
Industrial Farm Animal Production
Industrial farm animal production (IFAP) is a recent development in how humans manage their
food supply. This essay outlines benefits of IFAP, and then uses a Marxist framework to analyse the
negative ramifications of this type of animal production.
Using domestic animals primarily for meat is relatively recent. For thousands of years, domestic
animals were exploited for renewable purposes such as milk, wool, traction, riding, and pack
transport. These purposes were prioritised until an animal reached the end of its useful life,
whereupon it might then be eaten.
Today, the livestocksector employs 1.3 billion people and one third of humanity s protein intake
comes from livestock products. Livestock ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Global agricultural production doubled four times between 1820 and 1975. Intensified animal
production was seen as a way of providing food security and better nutrition. Pigs and cows began
to be raised on factory farms in 1960s North America. Production shifted from the traditional model
of extensive decentralised family farms to a more concentrated system of fewer producers and
much larger numbers of animals confined in concentrated animal feeding operations (CAFO).
Global numbers
The increasing demand for livestock products is predicated by availability but also influenced
by a combination of population growth, rising incomes, and urbanisation. Brazil and China have
seen remarkable increases in consumption, though still trail most other industrialized countries.
Global annual production is projected to increase from 218 million tons in 1997 1999 to 376
million tons by 2030. Worldwatch Institute reported that IFAP accounted for 30% of world meat
production in 1990; as of 2006, 74% of the world s poultry, 43% of beef, 50% of pork, and 68% of
eggs were produced this way.
The shift from traditional stock rearing practices to IFAP is ongoing in an increasing number of
countries. This shift is more pronounced in Asia than in other developing regions, as Asia has a
shortage of land but an abundance of relatively cheap labour.
China produced 50 million metric tons of pork in 2012, twice the amount produced in all 27 EU
countries and five

  • 2. The Rise Of Post Impressionism Impressionism was an art movement that started in the mid Nineteenth Century and peaked during the 1870s. Although Impressionism was also apparent in mediums like music and literature, its most prominent influence was painting. As it progressed towards Post Impressionism, it opened up the art world to stylistic rendering, deviated from realism, and introduced the world to modern and avant garde art. This essay will discuss how it managed to do so and specifically how the movement advanced into Post Impressionism. To understand how Impressionism came about, we must first understand how Academic Art rose to power. Academic Art was introduced in the Renaissance period, Old Masters such as Leonardo and Michelangelo emphasized the need for painting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After Impressionism peaked in 1870 artists such as CГ©zanne and Seurat started to opt out from exhibiting altogether, and had produced their own styles. In the eighth and final Impressionist exhibition, it was suggested that the title Impressionist be dropped as the artists who aligned with its characteristics were not present, and pieces were judged by its own merit rather than as a group. Manet s death in 1883 had also signaled the breakup of the Impressionists, being one of the initiators of the movement. Therefore, the lack of common ideas between the artists led them to work independently, form new ideas and techniques which led to Post Impressionism. In conclusion, Post Impressionism itself was not a singular style, but was unified through the rejection of Impressionism and many post impressionist artists served as inspiration for many movements to come such as Fauvism, Symbolism, Expressionism and avant garde art in general. The inherent limitations and discontent in forms of expression was what drove artists from academic art into Impressionism. It became the first movement to question and redefine what was acceptable and considered as art. Similarly, the same was done to progress from Impressionism into Post Impressionism. People have realized the need for constant reevaluation and experimentation to innovate new ideas fitting for the progressive ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Some social groups can be determined by a broad spectrum or a narrow spectrum. Social groups can be spread out throughout different regions as well as an entire nation as a whole. Every person who attends North Carolina State University is part of the same social group. That social group can be broken down into many smaller groups, such as the individual colleges in the University. Within those smaller groups of the different colleges, the groups can even be divided into smaller groups by major, and then again by concentration. Every person belongs to dozens of social groups without even realizing. The social group that has played a huge role in my life is the one of people who has participated in mission work. Mission work is something that has been very vital in my life ever since I was a little girl in middle school. I do not know what my life would be today without being part of groups that did service projects, and volunteer work as well as on many occasions spreading the knowledge of Christianity. I have been a part of two groups in particular that have truly changed the way I look at life and how I view other people. Covenants And The Roles Of Profit, Priest, And King Covenants and the Roles of Profit, Priest, and King in Organizational Management There are 6 major covenants in the Bible, Adam and Eve, pre flood Noah, post flood Noah, Abrahamic, Moses, and Jesus, with multiple themes of salvation, Messiah, and grace. Each are promises between God and His people and have four common elements; a benefactor; God, a beneficiary; man, terms and conditions, and a token or symbol. Significance and Meaning of a Covenant To provide a better appreciation of the Bible, a definition of covenant is necessary. A covenant is a serious life or death affair. It is a relationship; a sacred agreement between God and all humanity. It is how God chooses to communicate to us, to redeem us, and to guarantee us eternal life in Jesus. When God created man, he appeared in His image. Man was physically complete; yet spiritually incomplete. God s plan for salvation was predetermined and calls all people to receive the Holy Spirit to grow and become spiritually complete (Fountain, 2014) . Expand a bit!! Messiah Promised: The Old TestamentGenesis 9:13, I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. In Old Testament times God initiated and offered an agreement or covenant between Him and one nation, Israel. Entrance into this covenant was by physical, natural birth (Gen. 17:9 10). • 6. Descriptive Essay About Fashion There were times when women were restricted to wear certain garments like a skirt that does not go past the knee, pants, and anything men considered sexy. Through trials and tribulations women have defied all odds with fashion. When I think of fashion I think of self expression, thanks to the women before me. One woman who fully inspired my fashionsense, is Betsey Johnson. With her fun, unique, and colorful fashion lines, she helped me to find my style. She is also a huge inspiration to me, as a fashion designer. Betsey Johnson is a fashion designer, well known for her eccentric but ladylike designs; Puffy skirts to make you feel like a beautiful ballerina, embellishments to make you sparkle and shine when your seen, and eye catching accessories that make you want to buy her garments. • 8. Analysis Of The Dead By Charlie Higson This summer, I read the book The Dead by Charlie Higson is a novel about a large group of kids, left to live by themselves without guidance from their parents. In this run down setting of London, England, people who are over the age of 16 turn into kid hunting, flesh eating zombies. The younger kids are forced to live on their own, fighting for life against the wrath of the Adults. The message Higson showed in his book is: after people are forced to rely on themselves without experience, their lack of experience and knowledge will lead them to failure. In the novel, the kids face constant fear and by telling the story from a 3rd person omniscient point of view, Higson can really show how they are forced to only appeal their need for survival. The adults are a mysterious entity to the kids. Since they are doing things only to live, their actions are limited. We think there s something in us that adults need to eat in order to stay alive, (375). They move in groups to keep support between the kids, and by doing this, their fear of adults is slightly eased. Connecting the fact that the kids are living in fear to that London is big, the kids are constantly moving. The possibilities of adults attacking the kids at any point are endless. And when it had gotten really bad, when those adults who d gotten sick but hadn t died had started to turn on the kids, attacking them like wild animals, (8). These kids start to constantly move because of their fear. This causes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Things still went well with the family leaving because they were leaving to begin a new life in America with hope. Tevya was eventually reconciled the fact that there was nothing wrong with a marriage that wasn t arranged by the families and also outside religion. Vlad the Impaler usually had a horse attached to each of the victim s legs and a sharpened stake was gradually forced into the body. The end of the stake was usually oiled and care was taken that the stake not be too sharp, else the victim might die too rapidly from shock. Normally the stake was inserted into the body through the buttocks and was often forced through the body until it emerged from the mouth. However, there were many instances where victims were impaled through other bodily orifices or through the abdomen or chest. Infants were sometimes impaled on the stake forced through their mothers chests. The records indicate that victims were sometimes impaled so that they hung upside down on the stake. As stated by Rebecca Lugo The Judas Cradle was perhaps a little less sadistic than impalement but still gruesome. Deep space missions require a power source that can travel further, go faster, and last longer than traditional chemical rockets or solar powered propulsion systems; nuclear powered platforms provide an ideal alternative. The United States is currently working cooperatively with other countries to research and develop nuclear powersources for space travel. Autonomous unmanned spacecraft will be able to successfully fulfill the long term vision of interplanetary travel; performing research and resupply but the right energy and propulsion system once in orbit must be utilized. The one technology that currently meets the criteria to power unmanned spacecraft while in orbit are nuclear powered propulsion systems. When discussing spacecraft power and propulsion systems it must be understood that there are two parts that must be considered; the first is the rocket booster which launches the spacecraft into orbit and the second is the power system that moves the payload to its final destination (Chiravalle, 2008). As of now, no platform has been launched into space by nuclear power but it is feasible. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has considered using nuclear assisted boosters along with chemical rockets to launch spacecraft which would reduce mass and reduce cost (Sample, 2001). American Women In The 20th Century The 20th century precipitated a myriad of social and technological changes in The United States, and women as a group experienced one of the earliest examples of these shifts. Women became more active in the workplace, political sphere, and the feminist/ suffrage movement was at its height. The reception to this shift in gender roles had mixed responses with many claiming that the new modern womanwas an assault on convention. T.S. Elliot was no exception. The proposition that Eliot was hostile to the modernization of women is founded on his adoration for traditionalism and the unattainable, golden age. Albert has recently has recently come back from the war (another plague that is associated with this time period), and the marriage of Lil and Albert is strained. The first is that Albert is no longer attracted to Lil; she has poor teeth and after having five children looks antique even though she is only thirty one (155 156). The other woman warns Lil that all Albert wants [is] a good time , and that if she don t give it him, there s others will (147 194); in response seems unalarmed by the prospect, but rather she asserts that she wants to know who would give him a good time because she would then know who to thank (151). The second piece of conversation that is revealed to the reader is that Lil had spent money that Albert gave her for dental repairs to purchase abortion pills. The response from the friend mirrors that of Eliot s own view of marriage; she asks, What you get married for if you don t want children? (163). Eliot s traditional view held that the purpose of sex in a marriage is procreation alone. This is, of course, no longer the purpose of sex when The Wasteland is written. Therefore, when Eliot writes about the horrendous nature of relationships of modern times he paints Lil who embodies women on the whole as the cause for the futility of relationships. He believes that a woman should return to the honorable, traditional position of mother and spouse, subsequently, when Lil aborts her fetus she is abolishing the custom that he ... The very first battle took place in 1861. It was known as both The Battle of Bull Run and the Battle of Manassas. The Union army, led by General Irvin Manassas, was slightly larger than the Confederate army, led by P.G.T. Beauregard. They later went on to counterattack the Union and McDowell and his army were forced to retreat back to Washington. This is mostly due to his bright French Paintings, but his first paintings in the Netherlands are never thought of as colourful. This is untrue, colour was always an important element in Gogh s entire lifetime of works. Even though the melancholy paintings from Holland and the glowing works from Paris seem completely different they are a result of the same theory and practise. Vincent Van Goghwas mostly self thought and began his career in art by studding nineteenth century how to draw books and copying prints he liked. He felt like he had to master drawing techniques first in order to become a great painter. Van Gogh also had the idea that he had to work with black and white before he could master colour. The most iconic gargoyle, the Pensive Demon, sits atop Notre Dame Cathedral s South tower. This statue is actually a chimera, not a gargoyle, since it isn t functional to the building and is purely decor. In the middle ages, gargoyles were the subject of pagan and demonic conversation , but for Viollet le Duc they represented salvation, protection, and the soul of the building. Gargoyles that sat near the great bells provided amplification of sound when they went off, an important function that told citizens when to awake or pray . Viollet le Duc was appalled at the actions of the rebels that recklessly tore down the old gargoyles and replaced them with lead pipes, which proved ineffective and caused significant water damage to the cathedral. Gargoyles served a very important purpose of steering water out of the cathedral along with being artistically sound. While researching, Viollet le Duc realized how useful it is to multiply gargoyles in masses so that the drainage system would be perfected. Limestone was a material that could be cut into long, thin shapes and would further accentuate decorative qualities of the gargoyles, along with helping to anchor the building and provide extra support . Viollet le Duc insisted on proving the gargoyles functionality to a point of absurdity. He created gargoyles that held pots to further steer water away. He also formulated canopies for the gargoyles, during a time where canopies were reserved for saints and holy purposes. Viollet le Duc either found his gargoyles to be sacred, or he was further making fun of religion and its symbolism and his distaste for it . I feel the suffering of millions. And yet, when I look up at the sky, I somehow feel that everything will change for the better, that this cruelty too shall end, that peace and tranquility will return once more. Anne Frank. Anne Frank was a Jewish girl in 1942 when her family had to go into hiding in the Secret Annex , an empty section behind her father s company, after her sister Margot was called up to go to a labor camp. Eventually they were joined by the van Daan family (van Pels) and Alfred Dussel (Fritz Pfeffer). Although it might appear that conflict is the main cause because conflict between Nazi Germany and Jews caused the Franks to move into hiding, and there is also conflict between people in the Annex, that s incorrect because change in power turned Hitler and the party into power, and change of living conditions caused conflict in the Annex. In The Diary of a Young Girl, the driving force is change. It is the underlying cause of her starting to talk with Peter, understand her mother, and her life changing. When taking a look at coffee s journey from its simple beginnings, to its complex processing, and to its extensive use and consumption, one cannot help but be amazed at how prosperous and vital it has become American foodways. Coffee s backgrounds are surprisingly diverse. Many of the characteristics, as well as the credit for its distribution, have come from several different cultures. For example, the word coffee is devised from the Arabic root word qahwah (Kaye 557). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are currently four methods for harvesting coffee (Mangal 153 154). The first method is stripping the leaves of a coffee tree for coffee cherries. This method is faster than the second method combing the trees for only ripe cherries but of course, although the second method is much slower, it is advantageous in that the quality of the cultivated coffee is much higher, and the unripe cherries will become ripe regardless. The third method is mechanically shaking trees, causing cherries to fall to the ground from where they can be picked up easily, or using tractors with rotating brushes, which damage the entire plant entirely in exchange for extremely fast harvesting. The final, most time consuming method is to simply hand pick all the cherries. How one wishes to approach the harvesting depends on the purpose of the coffee. For personal use, hand picking does not sound so bad, since only a tiny amount of cherries are required for an individual or a small family, but when it comes to mass production of coffee, the mechanized process obviously makes more sense. Already, so many decisions need to be made when growing coffee, but complexity in coffee making has only just begun.
