Reaction Paper On Deviant
I was raised by my grandparents who had many rules and taught me that it would be
disrespectful not to follow them, so it was hard for me to complete the three deviant acts to
write this paper. I have spent my life following social norms to the best of my ability, even ones
that seems absurd to me. The object of this assignment frightened the heck out of me and I truly
wasn t sure if I was going to be able to complete it. The unspoken rule that I chose to break was
the infamous standing in a line waiting your turn rule, I chose to cut into the line without saying
anything at all. The first time I decided to do my deviant act was while standing in line at the
Tim Hortons at St. Paul s Hospital, which was especially hard for me because I ve been going
there for the past four years to visit my mother. There was about 12 people standing in the line
when I walked up to it and remembered that I needed to do my deviant act and that now was as
good a time as any. I felt very nervous about what I was planning to do and honestly a little afraid
because the area isn t exactly the greatest area s in the city. I stood at the back of the line for
about 2 minutes trying to mentally prepare for what I was going to do. I finally built up the
courage to walk ahead and cut into the line, leaving only one person ahead of me. No one said a
single word to me, but I did notice one of the workers looking towards the line and laughing. I
literally could feel the blood rushing to my face, but

Spread Of Buddhism In China Dbq Analysis
The responses to the spread of Buddhism in China were positive, negative, and acknowledged the
differences between Buddhism and other religions. Buddhism reached China around the first
century C.E., but Buddhist influence did not largely spread until the fall of the Han Dynasty. China
was deeply Confucian in the first century, and resisted the presence of Buddhismdue to the many
differences between the basic beliefs of each religion. The Chinese population reacted differently to
Buddhism depending on personal beliefs, which led to disagreement and conflict.
Buddhism caused many positive responses throughout China, especially during times of political
instability. Buddhism increased in popularity as the enforcement of laws in China decreased ...

China was greatly influenced by Confucian beliefs, especially during the Han Dynasty.
Confucianists believe the key to harmony is good morals throughout society and the acceptance
and respect of unequal relationships. Chinese Confucianists thought that society would run
smoothly, as long as each person completed their respective tasks. Tang Emperor Wu stated that
Buddhism allowed monks and nuns to not do their part in society, and therefore Buddhism needed
to be eradicated from Chinese society (Document 6). Emperor Wu s point of view does not reflect
the viewpoint of the lower classes, especially Buddhist supporters, because he is an emperor who
lives a lavish life. Emperor Wu fully supports Confucianism and has been educated using Confucian
beliefs throughout his life, which further influences his negative opinion on Buddhism expressed in
the proclamation. The unequal relationships between ruler and subject, or father and son, were
present throughout Chinese society and were important to the success of the empire. Han Yu, a
Confucian scholar, explained that the Buddha did not conform to Chinese laws or understand the
unequal relationships present in Chinese culture, in order to convince the population that Buddhism
does not belong in China (Document 4). The intended audience of the statement by Han Yu is the
Chinese upper class in order to prevent further conversion and acceptance of Buddhism.
Confucianism was most popular among the upper classes, due to the extensive education the
wealthy received based on Confucianism. Negative responses were common among the Chinese
population due to the many differences between Buddhist and Confucian

Dracula, The Mummy, By Bram Stoker
Wolfman, Frankenstein, The Mummy, Creature from the Black Lagoon, Dracula, all horrific
images of the Universal Monsters created from the 1920s to the 1930s by Universal Studios. To
the audience these monsters created panic and suspense that made leaving the lights on before bed
a necessary precaution; they are what is seen as a true, scary, monstrous fiction. Many of these
monsters did not begin their stories in cinema however; they began as novels. For Director Tod
Browning s 1931 Dracula, Bram Stoker is truly the mastermind behind the character, in which
Browning brought to life. In today s cinematic vision, we continue to do the same interpretation
from novel to film however not with the same intention and with a new view. For example,
Stephanie Meyer s vampiremonster drama Twilight was reimaged by Catherine Hardwicke in
2008 as a film, gives a whole new image to the classic monster compared to vampire Dracula. In
contrast from Dracula to Twilight, the vampire genre almost becomes a terrifying interpretation of
the past, and with societal interpretation the imagination of a cinematic monster almost becomes a
mirroring image of its own time, and its own social environment ultimately creating a modern
character that becomes more of a desire to be involved with than something to frighten. In the
1930 s while Cinema was at it s golden age in the discovery of sound, America economically was
crushed. In Dinardo s Article, Who s America: Contesting the Meaning of

Essay about The Sokal Hoax
The Sokal Hoax In Fall of 1994, New York University theoretical physicist, Alan Sokal, submitted
an essay to Social Text, the leading journal in the field of cultural studies. This essay, entitled
Transgressing the Boundaries: Toward a Transformative Hermeneutics of Quantum Gravity,
pretended to be a scholarly article about the postmodern philosophical and political implications
of the twentieth century physical theories. However, as Sokal later revealed in the journal
Lingua Franca, his essay was merely a mixture of deliberately concocted blunder, stitched
together so as to look good and to flatter the conceptual views of the editors. After review by five
members of Social Text s editorial board, Sokal s cartoon was accepted... Show more content on

Sokal then goes on about his views on quantum gravity and physical theory. He tries to generate
political and cultural views from these views. His reasoning is supported by nothing more than
a hazy patchwork of puns. When he does this, how is it that credential scientists can claim to
have a complete understanding on scientific knowledge in their field? They accepted an article
that was a total hoax and didn t realize it! This article was an impenetrable swamp of jargon and
citations. At the same time this article was printed, Sokal published an article in Lingua Franca
revealing that the article was a total hoax, and more or less was to show the intellectual absence in
the field of those that had published it. There were many different reactions to the publishing of
Sokal s essay. Some applauded him for putting many of the too smart for their own good/think
their so smart scientists in their place. It was an ingenious act. Then there were those who frowned
upon his actions in that he had no right to have such an article published. The following are some
arguments that are opposing Sokal s misuse of knowledge. A one sentence summary: its bad
enough, being in a physics department, seeing physicist compete to try to prove they re smarter
than each other all the time; the last thing I need is to see them acting out this compulsion to prove
that they are intellectual kings of the entire academy (Weiner). True, but if

Paul Theroux Journey
In Being A Stranger Paul Theroux attributes travel and getting disconnected from the world as
the reason for his success as a writer and even just as a person. He says, It was as a solitary
traveller that I began to discover who I was and recommends everyone, not just writers, to travel
the world and get disconnected because he believes it is beneficial to everybody. Paul Theroux s
theory holds true for Cheryl Strayed as her travelling and becoming disconnected proves to be very
beneficial to her in many ways. Not only does it succeed in helping her finally come to terms with
her mother s death, she becomes physically and mentally stronger.
Coming to terms with her mother s death was the initial reason Cheryl had planned her hike on the

Cheryl starts her trip off naГЇve and unaware of the hardships her journey will provide. From the
very first day she couldn t believe what she d got herself into. Despite this rough start to her
journey she soon begins to see her life on the trail as normal. She also lacks a lot of confidence in
her hiking abilities at the beginning. She got embarrassed when she would run into other hikers
and they would mention the size of her bag or other information that is common knowledge to
most hikers. However, later on she begins to become more confident in her abilities and even
goes as far as to say she, felt like a hard ass motherfucking Amazonian queen (202). Her newfound
confidence is shown as she meets people who are not hikers and is eager to explain to them
about the PCT and tell them about her journey, particularly when she meets the reporter for
Hobo Times. She earnestly argues that she is not a hobo and calls herself an expert hiker and
explains how far she travels and the hardships of the trail. Her newfound confidence shines
through during this encounter, as she is no longer the insecure hiker from the start of her trip.
Most importantly, Cheryl finds strength and direction throughout her trip. Before her journey
her life is a mess, she has just divorced her husband and acquired a heroin addiction. Not only
does the fact that she s disconnected keep her from her bad habits, such as heroin, but it also
gives her direction with her life. Her journey inspires her to write this novel, which she says she
had been ashamed she had not written one before already, and she plans to have a yard sale so she
can make enough money until she finds herself a job. Whereas, at the beginning of her trip she had
no clue what she was going to do after. She thanks the trail at the end of her trip and although she

E Commerce Is On The Rise
I agree with your post. I believe that brick and mortar businesses are highly relevant despite the
fact that e commerce is on the rise. I too enjoy shopping online sometime mainly due to my
shopping habits and simply out of convenience. Joseph (2016) acknowledges that, E commerce has
the convenience component nailed down. Moreover, that is essentially why people like online
shopping, consumers like that they have to exude little effort or difficulty, they simply just have
to scroll down a page to look at the products available and place them in their online cart.
Likewise, they are able to avoid waiting in lines and searching for a parking spot. However,
convenience is highly important and essential especially in today s time when people have so much
on their plates that they rarely have time to factor in time for shoppingin actual stores. Furthermore,
the reason as to why brick and mortar stores are still relevant and people still utilize them is
because they have some attributes that E commerce does not have such as an opportunity and time
for consumers to walk into a physical store, opportunity for face to face interaction, able to
physically pick up the items, feel them, smell them or taste them.
I personally know that brick and mortar businesses such as grocery stores serve a major benefit
because I like to go in the store and pick out my items personally. Especially when it comes to
fruits, vegetables, and meats. I need and want to be able to compare the items

In the Ancient world cavalry wasn t used for the most part. However, there were some exceptions
such as the Macedonians. The cavalry was part of the Macedonian tactical system. However, in the
later years of the Roman Empire cavalry started to become more important for frontier defense
because it allowed for increased mobility. Also, romans used cavalryfor the rapid concentration of
forces to close the gap between legions. After 250 AD, cavalry was even more predominant in the
roman army. Furthermore, cavalry was very effective. Infantryhad several disadvantages when
confronted by cavalry. The only ways that infantry could defeat cavalry was if they had superior
fire power, which they didn t have at that time, and if they were disciplined

Ignorance In Fahrenheit 451, By Ray Bradbury
When we separate ourselves from our families and friends, our ignorance becomes increasingly
worse. We begin pushing towards technology, chasing it like a stray puppy. Waiting for our
favorite show to come on becomes an accessory to our everyday life. Counting down the seconds
until the commercials are over, thirty, twenty nine, twenty eight, twenty seven... It seems
agonizing, even though we have been watching the same episode over and over for the past four
days. Touchable pages and recognizable faces are replaced by computerized screens and miniscule
pixels. In Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, this is exactly the case. People are becoming moths
chasing the lights of parlour walls instead of the sun in the sky. Fahrenheit 451 describes

Tingling and burning sensation in the mouth with or without swelling within a few minutes after
ingestion was considered as oral allergy syndrome. Coughing, dyspnea and wheezing were
considered as respiratory symptoms and, sneezing and rhinorrhea were considered as allergic
rhinitis.
Skin prick tests were performed on the forearms using standard commercial extracts of melon and
mango (Steallergen, Antony, France). Prior sensitization to fresh extracts of melon, mango, raw
eggplant and Shiraz grape was also evaluated by PPTs in which the culprits were pricked with a
sterile lancet and then pricked into the skin with the same lancet. Histamine (10 mg/mL) and

Decision Making Process Of An Organization
Heuristics that can assist the decision maker in speeding up the decision making process There
are various heuristics or methods that can speed up the decision making process of an

organization is working under the global market, the methods to speed up the decision making
process is extremely important for the decision makers of the organizations. Defining the

How Great Is The Great Gatsby Really Great
Justin Phan

The Not So Great Gatsby Many things are called great such as food or a football team, but what is
the true meaning of greatness? What are characteristics that one person or thing must have to be
considered great? In The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, the word great is used to describe the
characters and even things, but when analyzed these great things or people are actually quite the
opposite. Jay Gatsby, whom the story is centered around, is a young, wealthy, and charismatic
young man with a mysterious background. In The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, Jay Gatsby
is labeled with the title great, but many truths about his past and present would prove the contrary.

Cultural Barriers To The Romans
The gospel is the foundation of the faith and without it there nothing. Romans 1:16 states it is the
power of God that brings salvation to everyone that believes .1 There are a lot of churches which
do missions and other fine works but they fail when proclaiming the gospel. They proclaim
portions of which are non offensive to people. Hell will not be talked about, sexual sin never
mentioned or any other type of sin. The need is for healthy churches, who then in turn are more
likely to send healthy mission teams out into the field. The world desperately needs an untainted
gospel. The power of the gospel is the best tool to break down barriers. When the Apostle Paul
wrote Romans, he was crossing cultural barriers, he stated in Romans 1: 14 15 14 I am under
obligation both to Greeks and to barbarians,[d] both to the wise and to the foolish. 15 So I am
eager to preach the gospel to you also who are in Rome. 2 Paul is a great example of being a
barrier breaker and being unashamed about his faith. Paul faced numerous obstacles, including
persecution , customs and cultural differences. Therefore, this makes him a great example of what

The word Renaissance means rebirth and is used to represent a period in which there was
tremendous growth in literature, poetry, and drama. During that time, there were many great
playwrights; one of them was William Shakespeare, who wrote different genres of play, such as
comedy, tragedy, and histories. One of his famous tragedies play is Hamlet, which based on Prince
Hamlet s revengeful plan against his uncle, King Claudius. However, some critics question Hamlet

He only feels grief and sorrow because his father s death is too sudden that he does not know how
to handle and response. Yet, the death of Hamlet s father is one of the factors that cause Hamlet to
become insane.
Hamlet s mother marriage with King Claudius is another reason that indirectly contributes to
Hamlet s insanity. This is because Hamlet s mother, Gertrude, marries to his father s brother
quickly after his father has just died. Hamlet simply thinks his mother s remarriage to King
Claudius is disgusting because it is incest and he thinks his mother has betrayed his father.
According to Johnson Samuel, he argues it is necessary to evaluate character Gertrude in order
to understand how her remarriage to Claudius eventually leads to his son madness (Johnson).
First of all, one of the critics, Niamh J. O Leary, thinks Shakespeare depicts Gertrude as an
independent woman who is able to make her own judgments and overcome panics. This is
because when King s Hamlet dies, it does not take Gertrude a long time to recover as she marries
to his husband s brother quickly. Moreover, Niamh argues Gertrude decides to marry King
Claudius because she wants to protect his son. She needs to protect his son because she knows
Claudius has murdered her husband (O Learny). In the play, audiences can see Hamlet describes
his mother, Gertrude as a disloyal woman who betrays her husband. It is this betrayal that causes
Hamlet to become insane when he confronts his

Minimum Cleanliness Level The Oil
The industries standard for this are set by ISO standards. The minimum cleanliness level the oil
must have is ISO 18/16/13. Each number in this number code represents the maximum allowable
number of particles in the oil greater than 2 microns, 5 microns, and 15 microns in size
respectively. Hard to implement in our design (can t justify this concisely) not really necessary?
The filtration system configuration can be seen below in Figure 4. The pump draws the oil out of
the sump and through a prefilter. It then positively directs the oil towards the solenoid valve which
directs it through one of the two parallel filtration systems. Each filtration system is equipped
with a 10 micron filter and two 4 micron filters set in a parallel configuration. The oil then passes
through the 10 micron filter which will remove all particles of 10 microns in size or greater. The
oil then enters a flow divider valve which properly diverts the oil to two separate 4 micron filters
for further oil cleansing. Likewise, the 4 micron filters will remove all particles of 4 microns or
greater. From here, the oil flows through a check ball valve to ensure no backflow into the filters.
This is necessary due to the merging of the two parallel 4 micron filters. After leaving the first filter
configuration the oil is then directed towards the cooling system. However before it reaches the
cooler, it passes an alternate route towards the bypass filtration system. This system does not

Analysis Of My Daughter By Judith Sutpen
Miss Rosa describes her niece, Judith Sutpen, as a woman more strange to me than to any grief
for being so less its partner (120). Judith is a woman well acquainted with suffering, losing first
her mother, then her fiancГ© at the hand of her brother, and finally her father. She watches her
family s wealth disintegrate as a result of the heavy toll exacted by the Civil War, and eventually
becomes accustomed to tending her own garden, spinning her own thread, and weaving her own
cloth as the poor would do (125), since the Reconstruction Era showed no discrimination in
turning both wealthy and impoverished Southerners into the poor. Once her childhood has
come to a close and the era of desolation has set in, during which she is forced to cope with
hardship after hardship, Faulkner begins to consistently portray her as wearing a worn,
discolored homemade dress of calico or gingham (plain woven cotton fabrics). In one sense this
represents the poverty that is laying waste to the South and the Sutpen family, but on a deeper
level the dress comes to symbolize the deprivation and sorrow which Judith has endured, and
specifically her inability or perhaps refusal to emote in response to these tragedies. The first time
the dress appears to the reader is during Miss Rosa s description of her first encounter with Judith
after Charles Bon s death: I ran, fled, up the stairs and found no grieving widowed bride but Judith

Summary Of Bruce Springsteen s Born To Run
The 1970 s, filled with unraveling American society and global uncertainty, spawned many of
music s greatest artists. One of these artists was Bruce Springsteen, who has paved the way for the
rock genre since his 1975 album, Born to Run. While global issues continued at the hands of
politicians, no one quite captured the average Americans issues like Bruce Springsteens Born to Run
. Preformed and composed entirely by Springsteen, with primary producer Jon Landau and
incredible accompaniment by the wide range E Street Band, the album flawlessly depicted normal
Americans problems with the decaying American dream and crumbling ideals. Bruce Springsteen,
through insightful lyrics and instrumentation, successfully and emotionally showcased common
American ideals through his Born to Run album. Before his successful breakout album,
Springsteen endured the uncertain and unstable society created in the wake of World War II.
The United States, in the midst of Cold War tensions on a global scale, faced domestic
challenges as social reform movements protested for natural rights and American troop removal
from Vietnam ( Modern America ). On the musical side of American society, deaths of influential
artists, such as legendary rock guitarist Jimi Hendrix and blues singer Janis Joplin, and the
demise of the 1960s counterculture soured the entrance into the 1970s. Born in a struggling
working class New Jersey in late 1949, Springsteen observed the nature of blue collar life first
hand through his family, despite the increase of affluent, suburban life ( Springsteen s Born to Run
). These early life experiences influenced Springsteen s songwriting themes and provided an escape
through music. Although Springsteen had established his musical career before 1975, he had yet
to achieve commercial success ( Springsteen, Bruce ). Destined to become the next icon in the
rock genre, Columbia Records allowed Springsteen one final attempt to create a profitable record (
Springsteen, Bruce ). Joined by his E Street Band, which included keyboardists Roy Brittan and
Danny Federici, bassist Garry Tallent, backup guitarist Steven Van Zandt, drummer Max Weinberg,
and 1950 s R B influenced saxophonist Clarence Clemons, Springsteen set out to

What can NASCAR do to create a safer environment for the drivers in the car you may ask. The
responsibility of safety is not only in the hands of the driver or the track they all have to work
together to create a safer environment for racing. NASCAR sanctions tracks throughout the
United States. At the beginning of every year they send out their rule book to the tracks and
some rules such as seat belts. neck restraints. and rules on getting out of your car on the track are
required. On the other hand the other rules are just guidelines. The tracks can pick or choose
which rules that they want to follow or they can change the rules slightly. It is up to the track
officials to choose the safest rules to follow to have a safe and controlled racing experience
(DeRidder). Not only are varying rules an issue in keeping the drivers safe. At NASCAR s level
the cars are inspected on a weekly basis to make sure that everything is up to NASCAR s
standards and rules. At the smaller tracks that are sanctioned by NASCAR they don t have the
manpower to check every car every week to make sure that the driver or crew didn t change

The Chaos Of The Storm By William Golding Analysis
Everybody knew the the storm was coming. The clouds were building, the air felt as if it could

A strong storm is approaching the island, foreshadowing the murder by mob of Simon. Golding
uses the storm to build drama. His word choice describes the coming of the storm and the boys
increasingly wild behavior, using words such as thrust and clamorously. He then uses repetition to
show the storm has arrived, with both the lightning continuously striking and the boys chants

Obey or Disobedience
AMO Obey Or Disobedience ROUGH DRAFT In the story by Fromm, his outlook on obedience
and disobedience is that we have the ability to obey but the capacity to disobey is something that
society has influenced us to do naturally. Obedience and disobedience has always been part of a
never ending cycle that is consistently going round and round. Throughout history it has been
evident that soldier s obey their commander s, that knights uphold the ruling of their king, and that
their disobedience is about the shifting of power. So, too, is our nation being part of that cycle
and repeating history. Our nation s soldiers obey orders given by the President. Whether they are
right or wrong it is an order they obeyed countless of times.... Show more content on

We make necessary choices in order for us to be accepted in society, yet we challenge what we
were taught and conform to our perspective of what society wants for us to be. You always hear
the term, There are two types of people... Being that those two types are the Yin and Yang, the
lovers and the haters, it is the opposites that make the stereotype of each other. In the Ashe
article, it talked about how we conform to the position we are given. If you were one of the
poisoners, you would imitate and believe that you are one. If you are a guard, you would play
the part and show the power you hold to those that are beneath you. That is society; those that are
on top would always look down upon those that are beneath them and those beneath would do
almost anything to bask in their glory. And then there are those that would do what they can to
bring them down. Society has naturally catered to those that are disobedient, it may be from fear
of their new found power and wealth, or it may be that they are righteous and know what their
actions are for the good of all. We are the one that put them on the pedestal of admiration. We
learned from a young age to honor and respect those that put themselves on the line for the good of
the nation. Being raised into the military lifestyles was hard and very obedient. My

Critically Discuss the Cognitive Theories of Selective Attention
Attention is considered to be a core cognitive process, it refers to how people actively process
specific information in the environment. Attention refers to how people select from information
and stimuli in the environment, facilitating processing of some of the stimuli and inhibiting
processing of others. Everyone knows what attention is, it is the taking possession by the mind in
clear and vivid form, of one out of what seem several simultaneously possible objects or trains of
thought...It implies withdrawal from some things in order to deal effectively with others, and is a
condition which has a real opposite in the confused, dazed, scatterbrained state. This definition of
attention was proposed by psychologist William James (1890). This review will focus on literature
that gives explanation to selective attention. Selective attention refers to the process where a person
is able to select out of many stimuli and focus on the one they want and ignore other stimuli.
The cocktail party effect was investigated in early studies of selective attention. It was first
described by Cherry (1953). It s the observation that even in a noisy environment people are able to
focus their attention on who is talking to them. Cherry (1953) investigated this phenomenon by
conducting a series of dichotic listening and

Modernist Styles, Including Cubism, Orphism, and Futurism...
Modernist styles, including Cubism, Orphism, and Futurism challenged the practices of traditional

I will argue that modernist styles including Cubism, Orphism and Futurism did challenge the
practices of traditional representational art. While some may argue that that the fact that modern
styles were concerned with subject gives doubt to how challenging they really were to
representational art I oppose this idea entirely. All art is representational in some way. Rather than a
dismissing the concept of representation in art the modernist styles challenged the validity of the
external representation, which had previously been the foundation of art, by focussing on
conceptual representation.

Initially the search for a new, more truthful pictorial space was found in the introduction of time, the
fourth dimension, into space. Around this time in history the concept that space and time where
interlinked was suggested by Einstein s theory of relativity which destroyed the concept that the
dimensions of an object were absolute, by demonstrating that they depended on the relative position
of the viewer. This abstract concept was portrayed in Cubism through the use of synthesised
impressions of an image or space. As you view an image or object, your impression is not static
but a moving collection of impressions over time. The use of multiple viewpoints aimed to
compress a multiplicity of information gathered from various experiences of an object into one
image.
This innovation of a truer space is most evidently portrayed by the analytic phase of Cubism.
Through the incorporation of the new artistic conventions the fragmentation of form was
developed. The intention was to encompass the entire visual experience of an object into one
image and through this idea an effective technique of breaking up form into planes and facets
which each expressed a sample of visual information. The Cubist works now possessed a shallow
pictorial space due to the abandonment of perspective on which these

The Causes Of The Suez Crisis
The Suez Crisis began on October 29,1956 when Egypt was invaded by 10 Israeli brigades,
British and French troops followed two days later. The invasion was the result of Egypt s President
Gamal Abdel Nasser nationalising the Suez Canal Company, Britain and France were concerned
about their influence over the flow of oil into Europe. In response to the nationalisation of the Suez
Canal, English Prime Minister Anthony Eden, secretly formulated a plan with his allies France and
Israelin which they d retake the canal from Nasser, reinstating British and French authority over the
flow of oil from the Middle East while allowing the newly created Israel passage through the canal
which Egypthad blocked.
Gamal Abdel Nasser became President of Egypt in 1956, after a military coup. Prior to being
President, Nasser was an officer in the Egyptian Army when they were defeated by the newly
established State of Israel in 1948 leaving him with strong anti Israel sentiment. During his military
service Nasser founded the Free Officers group who sought to oust the occupying British forces
from Egypt. In 1954 after frequent brutal attacks against British troops by Egyptians, Britain signed
an agreement stating that British troops would vacate Egypt completely within the next 20 months,
the agreement ended British rule in Egypt. Nasser was a staunch Arab nationalist, which made him
extremely popular with the Egyptian public as they were deeply unhappy with Britain s colonial

which causes a sore throat and a rash on skin. It is most common in children. It lead to the loss
of many due to the lack of medicine treatments. People would stay away from those contaminated
with the disease as it was contagious and hard to cure. The threat of Scarlet Fever has changed
because of the advancement of medicine. Victor s family members were contaminated with the
disease. Elizabeth had scarlet fever, but she recovered from it as it was a moderate case. Their
mom wanted to see her but everyone refused her visitation. She obeyed that demand until she found

The Struggle Of Survival By Sherman Alexie
The Struggle of Survival
Imagine growing up in a place where everyone is poor, there is only one road going through the
town, one school, and one store. Now imagine having a tragic ancestral history of people who
were taken advantage of, massacred, and forced into the slums of society. For the people who
live in this place, this means there are little to no resources or opportunities to prosper and make a
better life. Also everyone there is being dragged down by a history of abuse and these misfortunes
are still affecting them in present day. The book The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven by
Sherman Alexie follows a young Indian boy through his experiences on an Indian reservation. in the
short stories Alexie demonstrates the good, the bad, and the ugly of what goes on native
American reservations. There is a deep longing of men to be warriors, because they have a need to
get ahead of their tragic history, and survive the harsh societies that try to keep them down, as
second class citizens.
Native Americans are constantly trying to escape their tragic history. The short story Every Little

Another key point, is that every sacrifice ceremony was providing just a temporary covering of
once sin, and could never take it away forever. On the other hand, the foreshadowing of the
perfect Lamb, would come to remove sin forever. That is what the temple represented, that there
is one way to heaven, the lamb slain, Jesus Christ. Now, the time has come to have faith in Jesus
Christ for salvation of our souls. The temple is no longer needed. In effect, no longer we need to
wait for the foreshadow of Jesus Christ, we no longer need to slain a sheep to cover our sins, we
no longer need to seek God on an altar, as he dwells within us through the Holy Spirit. God has
never given us a spirit of fear, rather a spirit of faith in Jesus Christ. Under those circumstances,
when Jesus declared, I am the way, is the reason why Jews hated Him. As a result, they were

One King, one Queen, otherwise known as Ferdinand and Isabella. Ferdinand and Isabella were
cousins. Later on in 1469 they became husband and wife. Isabella became the quartermaster and
financier (isabellaqueenofspain.wordpress.com), while Ferdinand was the leader of the army.
Together they expanded and ruled the Spanish Empire. (spainthenandnow.com). Isabella was
born on April 27, 1451. She was born in a city of Madrigal and raised Catholic. Her mother s
name was also Isabella. Her mother was the Princess of Portugal. King John II, of Castile, was
her father. Isabella never really knew her father as he died when she was only four years old.
Isabella was well educated and from a very young age was taught she could achieve great things.
When King John II died, he left the Kingdom of Castile to Isabella s step brother Henry.
(Bucklin). Later when Isabella s brother died, she had to fight to become ruler of Castile against
her Niece Juana who tried to take over the throne. Ferdinand would help her in the war to succeed
her step brother and take over as ruler (Azcona).
Isabella s cousin, also known as her husband, Ferdinand, was born in 1451. His father was King
John II of Aragon and his mom was Juana EnrГquez of Castile. They were both of Castilian origin.
Unlike Isabella, he had a father figure and would succeed his father as King of Aragon. From his
father he learned integrity, courage and reserve. Ferdinand was raised by his parents to become a
king and a devout Catholic. (ferdinandandisabella.weebly.com) He became known as Ferdinand
the Catholic (Azcona). In 1469 Ferdinand and Isabella were married. The marriage was really an
arrangement for purposes of taking control of Spain. Their union would bring about
accomplishments that would go down in history. The first main accomplishment was that they
unified Spain. Their marriage unified the regions of Castile and Aragon. Before Ferdinand and
Isabella took over, Spain was separated and confused. (ferdinandandisabella.weebly.com) The
couple would share equal ruling power. As time went on, their combined forces would make Spain
into a strong world power. (history.com).

Intolerance During The Nazi Regime
Intolerance
The definition of intolerance is the unwillingness to accept views, beliefs, or behavior that differ
from one s own . There have been many times in history when people have been unwilling to
accept things that are different than what they belief. There has been the Nazi regime, whites
segregating blacks, people who disagree with people who are homesexual, and Donald Trump.
One example of intolerance is during the Nazi regime. When Hitler came to power in 1933, he
tried to imprison and kill all Jews and nobody for the most part tried to stop him. Hitler didn t stop
there though, he still thought that everyone who didn t have blonde hair and blue eyes were not
good enough, because they were not what he thought to be the perfect race. There was the
holocaust. There were about 42, 500 facilities in Germany that were used for slave labor, mass
murder, and other human right abuses. It is to be predicted that about 200,000 Jews died during
the Holocaust. Jews were hunted down and were forced to go into hiding. If they were caught, they
would be sent to concentration camps where many died. Six million Jews died, including 1.5
million children during the Nazi regime. Five million ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Walker Art Center Research Paper
So what exactly is the Walker Art Center? The Walker Art Center is a contemporary art center in
MInneapolis Minnesota. It was established in 1927 and it is also one of the most visited
museums in the United States. For this paper I was assigned to visit the Walker Art Center and
choose one piece of art to write an essay about. It was my first time going to the Walker Art Center
and I found myself in amazement with the all the artwork there. I examined many pieces and found
the piece Do womanhave to be naked to get into the Met. Museum ? By the Guerrilla girls the most
compelling. I found this piece compelling because it was the only one that caught my eye since it

First of all I started with the subject matter of the artwork. What I saw the subject matter to be
was the woman with the gorilla mask on because it is what catches the audience attention, and it
was also the most detailed aspect in the artwork. The rest was is bolded words and blanket the
woman lays on. The poster is also an example of postmodern art. Next, the medium of this
artwork is screen printed on a poster. The Form of this image is huge. When I saw it at the
Walker Center in the section of the Guerilla girls it was the biggest of them all. The others were
fairly small and put next to each other but this one in particular was by itself and much bigger
than the rest. The context about this poster is that you see a woman that is naked and she wears
a gorilla mask which represents the guerrilla girls. She also covers her private parts to get the
point across that is stated in bold letters that is also the title of the artwork which says Do
woman have to be naked to get into the Met. Museum ? In other words, the naked woman s
private parts being covered is not a coincidence but instead it is the artist s way of telling people
how naked woman are often used in artwork and it s not fair. The poster gets even more
descriptive with the smaller bolder words in the image that state Less than 5% of the artist

The Separation Of What A Boy Or A Girl
Stories surround most young children in a pleasant way. As soon as they will listen to a book,
they are shown different adventures and characters that they are supposed to wish to be. When
they finally pick out books for themselves there seems to be an idea of a divide between what a boy
will choose to read and what a girlwill. This anxiety is not new, but instead the product of thoughts
founded back in the 19th century. Although not as present in today s literature, the separation of
what a boyor a girl will read is still presented as if it a problem in the book market. Children s
novels began not just as tools just for the benefit of literacy, but as ideal characters to model
behavior. In the 19th century the American Sunday School Union began to create books for
children that would help develop morally (Foreman, History of Adolescent Literature). These
literature books had obvious religious themes and presented didactic lessons meant to show
children the consequences of failing to be proper. A perfect example of this kind of novelis Hubert
Lee: Or How a Boy May do Good, by Herbert Lee. The very introduction of this book announces its
intentions, The author trusts [this book] will be read with interest, and every child will resolve,
by God s help, to go and do likewise. (i, Lee). The idea was that a novel was to not be solely for
pleasure, but it should do something to advance the children s idea of how to act in the world. This
idea was developed further to fit

Charge Of Mass Ratio Of The Electron
Charge to Mass Ratio of the Electron
Cait McCormick
28 November 2016
PHYSICS 1750 01A
Professor Hoogewerff
Objective:
The objective of this lab was to find the ratio of charge to mass of an electron.
Background/ Motivation: The purpose of this lab was to find the ratio of charge to mass of an
electron. The charge to mass ratio of the electron is measured by accelerating electrons through a
uniform magnetic field with a constant potential difference. The electron moves in the magnetic
field and the equation for force of this electron moving can be manipulated to find e/m .
Theory:
For this lab, the charge to mass ratio of an electron was calculated by shooting an electron into a
uniform magnetic field causing the electron to accelerate radially inwards. This causes the electron
to feel a centripetal force, which can be calculated using the equation below, eB= (mv^2)/r
The centripetal force should be equivalent to the magnetic force, shown in the equation below,
F_B=q( v вѓ— Г— B вѓ—)
Using this equivalence as well as the conservation of energy, it was possible to solve for the charge
to mass ratio. The magnetic force causes the electrons to move in a circular path which allows us
to model the force as a centripetal force. The electron beam speed, velocity, is created by the
acceleration voltage, Va, this is found by the following equation, eV_a= 1/2 mv^2
Setting both the centripetal force equation and speed equation equal to each other, we

He played at bars around the country. It was known by musicians as the chitlin circuit.
Soon Charles stopped imitating other musicians, as he had been doing up until this point, and
began to combine gospel and rhythm and blues, and, in doing so, created soul. He is still called the
Genius of Soul today. In
1955 Charles made recorded I ve Got a Women , and made history. It helped pave the way for soul
for years to come.
In the 1960 s Charles recorded I Can t Stop Loving You (a piece of country music) with a large
orchestra and his own voice. This song, like his others, was loved by the American people.
Unfortunately, in the 1940 s Charles became addicted to heroin, and in
1964 he was arrested for it. While he was awaiting his trial he went to an award ceremony in which
his son, Ray Jr. was receiving an award. He had to leave before his son received his award, so Ray
Jr. cried. Charles, seeing this, realized that his son would be very hurt if someone yelled out that
Charles was a drug addict, so he went to the hospital and went cold turkey on drugs. After a year,
he was over the addiction.
Charles is a man of extremes. He was impatient, and he would not listen to complaints. When he
was happy, he

Introduction I had the pleasure of working for Heritage Cooperative Inc during the summer of

Character Analysis Of Fitzgerald s Dream In The Great Gatsby
Although their wealth has brought them materialistic satisfaction, they all constantly remain in
a state of being emotionally torn, distraught between money and true happiness. Jay is the first
to discover this struggle and eventually Daisy and Tom experience it too. Jay later shows his
conflicted feelings when he begs Daisy to tell Tom that she never loved him. Daisy said, I never
loved him, ... Oh, you want to much! she cried to Gatsby. I love you now isn t that enough? I
can t help what s past (Fitzgerald 132). This depicts a clear picture that almost is never enough
for Gatsby. Jay wants every single bit and piece of Daisy, that including her uncontrollable past.
Gatsby is so caught up in all of his memories that he forgets to add reality into his planned future.
Unfortunately, the dream is based on hollow underpinnings, on the vacuous Daisy and the
misguided concept that large amounts of money can be made and used without responsibility
(Morton Mollo). Love blinds Gatsby into thinking that things can be pick up again where they
were left off, as long as Daisy wants it s to badly enough. Jay forgets that Daisy has a rock on her
finger, baby at home, and a social status. Gatsby has never been able to move on, but Daisy has,
and did a long time ago. He selfishly longs to her all to himself, forgetting that what she currently
wants is different from what she wanted when he stood next to her in his forest green army attire
so many years ago. Loveless marriage is

Essay On Greg Pape s The River Comes Closer
Greg Pope s The River Comes Closer and Louise GlГјck s Threshing uses Imagine and Sound to
Control their Poems
Poets usually begin with words or phrase which appeal more because of their sound than their
meaning, and the movement and phrasing of a poem. Every poem has a texture of sound, which is
at least as important as the meaning behind the poem. What often attracts us to poetry is its sound
and imagery. Poets use sound to express the themes of their poems and it allows them to find a
deeper meaning behind the poem. Greg Pape s The River Comes Closer and Louise GlГјck s
Threshing have a similar pattern and connection between each other, when it come to sound
because both poems are different, but are using figures of sound to describe the imagery of ... Show

Both poets has an unique ways of controlling their poems by using imagery and sound to create
tension, which makes the reader have a visual and audio sense of the two poets. Therefore poet
like Pape and GlГјck mainly focus on imagery and sound by controlling how their own poem are
going to be, by showing the importance of how these two poems make imagery and sound their
main goal.
Pape s control his poem by emphasizing the imagery and sounds used. An owl calls across the
river/Another answers farther downstream/Stars glitter through the branches of pines and on the
back of the river (line 1 3). In Pape s poetry we can see the images of an owl calling across the
river, therefore by doing that the owl is receiving communication from another owl farther
downstream, so the sound is used to describe communication between two objects and also the stars
glitter which could mean brightness or radiance through branches of pines and on the back of the
river, which could represent light passing through and reflecting off objects. The opening lines make
it clear that the speaker, and therefore the reader, is alone with nothing but their connection to
nature in their consciousness. Louise GlГјck s

Research Paper On Baldness
Baldness is a common occurrence among men. It is typically regarded as something normal and
not indicative of any kind of health condition, although it may cause psychological distress in the
affected. However, scientists have discovered positive correlations between baldness and several
pathologies. Male pattern hair loss, as it is formally known in the medical realm, affects at least
50% of men in old age. Its causes are believed to be largely genetic. Recent studies have finally
shed some light on the genetic underpinnings of the condition, revealing several complex
relationships with other diseases and innate traits.
Shortness and baldness
According to scientists at the University of Bonn, Germany, short men are more likely to
experience hair loss prematurely. They studied the genetic material of more than 20,000 men from
around the world. Slightly less than half were bald men. After analyzing the data, the team of
scientists led by geneticists Dr. Stephanie Heilmann Heimbach and Prof. Markus Nöthen
discovered that prematurely bald men carried 60 genomic alterations. These genetic signatures
meant that prematurely bald males are more likely to undergo puberty earlier, to have small body
size, and to develop several types of cancer (including prostate cancer). Associations between bone
density and light skin color were also found. The study now published in the ... Show more content

genetic factors. 287 genetic regions were identified, and, surprisingly, many of them derived from
the X chromosome, which is inherited from the mother. Scientists expressed that one of the long
term implications of this research is the creation of a genetic tool that helps predict hair loss
patterns in the future. The study was published in the PLOS Genetics

who could save your life. You also don t have to choose the kind of people that you help. You
help from infants to the elderly. The human body itself amazes me, the things it does and how it

  • 2. Reaction Paper On Deviant I was raised by my grandparents who had many rules and taught me that it would be disrespectful not to follow them, so it was hard for me to complete the three deviant acts to write this paper. I have spent my life following social norms to the best of my ability, even ones that seems absurd to me. The object of this assignment frightened the heck out of me and I truly wasn t sure if I was going to be able to complete it. The unspoken rule that I chose to break was the infamous standing in a line waiting your turn rule, I chose to cut into the line without saying anything at all. The first time I decided to do my deviant act was while standing in line at the Tim Hortons at St. Paul s Hospital, which was especially hard for me because I ve been going there for the past four years to visit my mother. There was about 12 people standing in the line when I walked up to it and remembered that I needed to do my deviant act and that now was as good a time as any. I felt very nervous about what I was planning to do and honestly a little afraid because the area isn t exactly the greatest area s in the city. I stood at the back of the line for about 2 minutes trying to mentally prepare for what I was going to do. I finally built up the courage to walk ahead and cut into the line, leaving only one person ahead of me. No one said a single word to me, but I did notice one of the workers looking towards the line and laughing. I literally could feel the blood rushing to my face, but ... China was deeply Confucian in the first century, and resisted the presence of Buddhismdue to the many differences between the basic beliefs of each religion. The Chinese population reacted differently to Buddhism depending on personal beliefs, which led to disagreement and conflict. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... China was greatly influenced by Confucian beliefs, especially during the Han Dynasty. Confucianists believe the key to harmony is good morals throughout society and the acceptance and respect of unequal relationships. Chinese Confucianists thought that society would run smoothly, as long as each person completed their respective tasks. Tang Emperor Wu stated that Buddhism allowed monks and nuns to not do their part in society, and therefore Buddhism needed to be eradicated from Chinese society (Document 6). Emperor Wu s point of view does not reflect the viewpoint of the lower classes, especially Buddhist supporters, because he is an emperor who lives a lavish life. Emperor Wu fully supports Confucianism and has been educated using Confucian beliefs throughout his life, which further influences his negative opinion on Buddhism expressed in the proclamation. The unequal relationships between ruler and subject, or father and son, were present throughout Chinese society and were important to the success of the empire. Han Yu, a Confucian scholar, explained that the Buddha did not conform to Chinese laws or understand the unequal relationships present in Chinese culture, in order to convince the population that Buddhism does not belong in China (Document 4). The intended audience of the statement by Han Yu is the Chinese upper class in order to prevent further conversion and acceptance of Buddhism. Confucianism was most popular among the upper classes, due to the extensive education the wealthy received based on Confucianism. Dracula, The Mummy, By Bram Stoker Wolfman, Frankenstein, The Mummy, Creature from the Black Lagoon, Dracula, all horrific images of the Universal Monsters created from the 1920s to the 1930s by Universal Studios. To the audience these monsters created panic and suspense that made leaving the lights on before bed a necessary precaution; they are what is seen as a true, scary, monstrous fiction. Many of these monsters did not begin their stories in cinema however; they began as novels. For Director Tod Browning s 1931 Dracula, Bram Stoker is truly the mastermind behind the character, in which Browning brought to life. In today s cinematic vision, we continue to do the same interpretation from novel to film however not with the same intention and with a new view. For example, Stephanie Meyer s vampiremonster drama Twilight was reimaged by Catherine Hardwicke in 2008 as a film, gives a whole new image to the classic monster compared to vampire Dracula. In contrast from Dracula to Twilight, the vampire genre almost becomes a terrifying interpretation of the past, and with societal interpretation the imagination of a cinematic monster almost becomes a mirroring image of its own time, and its own social environment ultimately creating a modern character that becomes more of a desire to be involved with than something to frighten. Essay about The Sokal Hoax The Sokal Hoax In Fall of 1994, New York University theoretical physicist, Alan Sokal, submitted an essay to Social Text, the leading journal in the field of cultural studies. This essay, entitled Transgressing the Boundaries: Toward a Transformative Hermeneutics of Quantum Gravity, pretended to be a scholarly article about the postmodern philosophical and political implications of the twentieth century physical theories. However, as Sokal later revealed in the journal Lingua Franca, his essay was merely a mixture of deliberately concocted blunder, stitched together so as to look good and to flatter the conceptual views of the editors. Sokal then goes on about his views on quantum gravity and physical theory. He tries to generate political and cultural views from these views. His reasoning is supported by nothing more than a hazy patchwork of puns. When he does this, how is it that credential scientists can claim to have a complete understanding on scientific knowledge in their field? They accepted an article that was a total hoax and didn t realize it! This article was an impenetrable swamp of jargon and citations. At the same time this article was printed, Sokal published an article in Lingua Franca revealing that the article was a total hoax, and more or less was to show the intellectual absence in the field of those that had published it. There were many different reactions to the publishing of Sokal s essay. Some applauded him for putting many of the too smart for their own good/think their so smart scientists in their place. It was an ingenious act. Then there were those who frowned upon his actions in that he had no right to have such an article published. The following are some arguments that are opposing Sokal s misuse of knowledge. However, convenience is highly important and essential especially in today s time when people have so much on their plates that they rarely have time to factor in time for shoppingin actual stores. He only feels grief and sorrow because his father s death is too sudden that he does not know how to handle and response. Yet, the death of Hamlet s father is one of the factors that cause Hamlet to become insane. Hamlet s mother marriage with King Claudius is another reason that indirectly contributes to Hamlet s insanity. This is because Hamlet s mother, Gertrude, marries to his father s brother quickly after his father has just died. Hamlet simply thinks his mother s remarriage to King Claudius is disgusting because it is incest and he thinks his mother has betrayed his father. According to Johnson Samuel, he argues it is necessary to evaluate character Gertrude in order to understand how her remarriage to Claudius eventually leads to his son madness (Johnson). First of all, one of the critics, Niamh J. O Leary, thinks Shakespeare depicts Gertrude as an independent woman who is able to make her own judgments and overcome panics. This is because when King s Hamlet dies, it does not take Gertrude a long time to recover as she marries to his husband s brother quickly. Moreover, Niamh argues Gertrude decides to marry King Claudius because she wants to protect his son. She needs to protect his son because she knows Claudius has murdered her husband (O Learny). Each number in this number code represents the maximum allowable number of particles in the oil greater than 2 microns, 5 microns, and 15 microns in size respectively. Hard to implement in our design (can t justify this concisely) not really necessary? The filtration system configuration can be seen below in Figure 4. The pump draws the oil out of the sump and through a prefilter. It then positively directs the oil towards the solenoid valve which directs it through one of the two parallel filtration systems. Each filtration system is equipped with a 10 micron filter and two 4 micron filters set in a parallel configuration. The oil then passes through the 10 micron filter which will remove all particles of 10 microns in size or greater. The oil then enters a flow divider valve which properly diverts the oil to two separate 4 micron filters for further oil cleansing. Likewise, the 4 micron filters will remove all particles of 4 microns or greater. From here, the oil flows through a check ball valve to ensure no backflow into the filters. This is necessary due to the merging of the two parallel 4 micron filters. After leaving the first filter configuration the oil is then directed towards the cooling system. Judith is a woman well acquainted with suffering, losing first her mother, then her fiancГ© at the hand of her brother, and finally her father. She watches her family s wealth disintegrate as a result of the heavy toll exacted by the Civil War, and eventually becomes accustomed to tending her own garden, spinning her own thread, and weaving her own cloth as the poor would do (125), since the Reconstruction Era showed no discrimination in turning both wealthy and impoverished Southerners into the poor. Once her childhood has come to a close and the era of desolation has set in, during which she is forced to cope with hardship after hardship, Faulkner begins to consistently portray her as wearing a worn, discolored homemade dress of calico or gingham (plain woven cotton fabrics). In one sense this represents the poverty that is laying waste to the South and the Sutpen family, but on a deeper level the dress comes to symbolize the deprivation and sorrow which Judith has endured, and specifically her inability or perhaps refusal to emote in response to these tragedies. One of these artists was Bruce Springsteen, who has paved the way for the rock genre since his 1975 album, Born to Run. While global issues continued at the hands of politicians, no one quite captured the average Americans issues like Bruce Springsteens Born to Run . Preformed and composed entirely by Springsteen, with primary producer Jon Landau and incredible accompaniment by the wide range E Street Band, the album flawlessly depicted normal Americans problems with the decaying American dream and crumbling ideals. Bruce Springsteen, through insightful lyrics and instrumentation, successfully and emotionally showcased common American ideals through his Born to Run album. Before his successful breakout album, Springsteen endured the uncertain and unstable society created in the wake of World War II. The United States, in the midst of Cold War tensions on a global scale, faced domestic challenges as social reform movements protested for natural rights and American troop removal from Vietnam ( Modern America ). On the musical side of American society, deaths of influential artists, such as legendary rock guitarist Jimi Hendrix and blues singer Janis Joplin, and the demise of the 1960s counterculture soured the entrance into the 1970s. Born in a struggling working class New Jersey in late 1949, Springsteen observed the nature of blue collar life first hand through his family, despite the increase of affluent, suburban life ( Springsteen s Born to Run ). These early life experiences influenced Springsteen s songwriting themes and provided an escape through music. Although Springsteen had established his musical career before 1975, he had yet to achieve commercial success ( Springsteen, Bruce ). Destined to become the next icon in the rock genre, Columbia Records allowed Springsteen one final attempt to create a profitable record ( Springsteen, Bruce ). I will argue that modernist styles including Cubism, Orphism and Futurism did challenge the practices of traditional representational art. While some may argue that that the fact that modern styles were concerned with subject gives doubt to how challenging they really were to representational art I oppose this idea entirely. All art is representational in some way. Rather than a dismissing the concept of representation in art the modernist styles challenged the validity of the external representation, which had previously been the foundation of art, by focussing on conceptual representation. Around this time in history the concept that space and time where interlinked was suggested by Einstein s theory of relativity which destroyed the concept that the dimensions of an object were absolute, by demonstrating that they depended on the relative position of the viewer. This abstract concept was portrayed in Cubism through the use of synthesised impressions of an image or space. As you view an image or object, your impression is not static but a moving collection of impressions over time. The use of multiple viewpoints aimed to compress a multiplicity of information gathered from various experiences of an object into one image. This innovation of a truer space is most evidently portrayed by the analytic phase of Cubism. Through the incorporation of the new artistic conventions the fragmentation of form was developed. The intention was to encompass the entire visual experience of an object into one image and through this idea an effective technique of breaking up form into planes and facets which each expressed a sample of visual information. The invasion was the result of Egypt s President Gamal Abdel Nasser nationalising the Suez Canal Company, Britain and France were concerned about their influence over the flow of oil into Europe. In response to the nationalisation of the Suez Canal, English Prime Minister Anthony Eden, secretly formulated a plan with his allies France and Israelin which they d retake the canal from Nasser, reinstating British and French authority over the flow of oil from the Middle East while allowing the newly created Israel passage through the canal which Egypthad blocked. It started out like any other day, but I was wired from the second I woke up, hoping this day would be one to remember. I set my alarm earlier than normal that morning so that I could relax in a hot shower. My sisters beat me to the punch, however, and my shower, per usual, was frigid. I hoped it wasn t an omen for how my day would proceed, but my watering tastebuds suggested otherwise. As soon as they will listen to a book, they are shown different adventures and characters that they are supposed to wish to be. When they finally pick out books for themselves there seems to be an idea of a divide between what a boy will choose to read and what a girlwill. This anxiety is not new, but instead the product of thoughts founded back in the 19th century. Although not as present in today s literature, the separation of what a boyor a girl will read is still presented as if it a problem in the book market. Children s novels began not just as tools just for the benefit of literacy, but as ideal characters to model behavior. In the 19th century the American Sunday School Union began to create books for children that would help develop morally (Foreman, History of Adolescent Literature). These literature books had obvious religious themes and presented didactic lessons meant to show children the consequences of failing to be proper. A perfect example of this kind of novelis Hubert Lee: Or How a Boy May do Good, by Herbert Lee. The very introduction of this book announces its intentions, The author trusts [this book] will be read with interest, and every child will resolve, by God s help, to go and do likewise. (i, Lee). Charge Of Mass Ratio Of The Electron Charge to Mass Ratio of the Electron Cait McCormick 28 November 2016 PHYSICS 1750 01A Professor Hoogewerff Objective: The objective of this lab was to find the ratio of charge to mass of an electron. Background/ Motivation: The purpose of this lab was to find the ratio of charge to mass of an electron. The charge to mass ratio of the electron is measured by accelerating electrons through a uniform magnetic field with a constant potential difference. The electron moves in the magnetic field and the equation for force of this electron moving can be manipulated to find e/m . Theory: For this lab, the charge to mass ratio of an electron was calculated by shooting an electron into a uniform magnetic field causing the electron to accelerate radially inwards. This causes the electron to feel a centripetal force, which can be calculated using the equation below, eB= (mv^2)/r The centripetal force should be equivalent to the magnetic force, shown in the equation below, F_B=q( v вѓ— Г— B вѓ—) Using this equivalence as well as the conservation of energy, it was possible to solve for the charge to mass ratio. The magnetic force causes the electrons to move in a circular path which allows us to model the force as a centripetal force. The electron beam speed, velocity, is created by the acceleration voltage, Va, this is found by the following equation, eV_a= 1/2 mv^2 Setting both the centripetal force equation and speed equation equal to each other, we ... However, scientists have discovered positive correlations between baldness and several pathologies. Male pattern hair loss, as it is formally known in the medical realm, affects at least 50% of men in old age. Its causes are believed to be largely genetic. Recent studies have finally shed some light on the genetic underpinnings of the condition, revealing several complex relationships with other diseases and innate traits.
