A Study On Selecting A Mentor
Reflect on what you have learnt from the meetings with your project mentor, including the
presentation that you gave to your project mentor?
Selecting a Mentor
My project mentor was Mr Laeeq ur Rehman, who is a senior faculty member at College of
Accounting and Management Sciences (CAMS) and was also my tutor for the ACCA paper P3.
Mr Rehman is an ACCA, MBA, and CGA. He has mentored several students to successfully
complete their Research and Analysis Project. I was inspired by his teaching techniques and his
ideas.
First Meeting
During the first meeting, Mr. Rehman explained me the required format of the research and
analysis project. He asked me the reason I had chosen the particular topic and we had a thorough
discussion regarding the chosen topic. He advised me to read the Oxford Brookes University BSC
Information Pack and conduct my research in accordance to its guidelines. I also discussed some of
the information sources and data collection methods in that meeting.
I was impatient about the research approach and design, so I asked my mentor several questions,
which helped me to understand the requirements. The CSR and ethics models studied in P1 and
P3 were also discussed as these were to be used for the evaluation of company s policies. I also
took notes in the meeting so that I do not forget important details later.
Second Meeting
The second meeting was held when I finished my section one and section two of the project. Mr.
Rehman already reviewed my progress

HSC 3003: Provide support to maintain and develop skills for everyday life 1.1. Compare
methods for developing and maintaining skills for everyday life. Within my work setting of the
nursing home, we have several ways we help develop skills for every day life. Within the home
we have a physiotherapist, who works with residents to help them get better mobility by helping
them move their arms and legs better as an example and encouraging them to attempt the exercises
when alone also. Once a resident has improved with their mobility its down to the care staff to help
encourage them to continue using this daily life skill by encouraging them to be as independent as

Some of these are as follows: * Clear communication with reasons why this could help * Establish
and discuss the conflicts with the people involved * Support and motivate the resident where
possible * Involve Specialist people where needed * Manage conflicts when they happen and
discuss them calmly 2.4. Support the individual to understand the plan and any processes,
procedures or equipment needed to implement or monitor it. People should always be involved and
in control of any development of their life and should be discussed with them throughout ensuring
that they understand both the gain they will receive as well as any risks involved. Support should
be given when and where needed, this could be anything from encouragement and motivation
through to equipment to help them. When equipment is provided it is essential that someone who
knows how to use this equipment shows them how to use and work it to receive the best benefit
from it to a level where they understand clearly and fully. 3.1. Provide agreed support to develop or
maintain skills, in a way that promotes active participation. Once someone has achieved a new skill

Relationship Between Burnout And Work Engagement
Relationship between Burnout and Work Engagement
A significant negative relationship with Emotional Exhaustion was found for engagement (r= 0.35,
p 0.01) based on the above results. From the results, academics who reported a lesser degree of
engagement in their work are the ones who are more emotionally exhausted. Here, burnout shows a
moderate inverse relationship with engagement, in that the higher degree of burnout reported the
lesser the engagement. This result supported the first hypothesis presented in the study, i.e. burnout
is negatively correlated with work engagement.
Relationship between Burnout and Pressure to Publish
In Table 6 above, results show Pressure to Publish to have a significant and positive relationship
with that of Emotional Exhaustion (r = 0.36, p 0.01) indicating that academics who reported
higher feelings of being under pressure to publish displayed higher levels of Emotional
Exhaustion than those who reported lower feelings of being under pressure. Or in other words, as
an academic s perceived Pressure to Publish increased, so did their levels of Emotional Exhaustion.
According to this result, academics levels of burnout is indeed affected by their perceived feelings
of pressure to publish supporting the second hypothesis of the study.
Relationship between Burnout and Resilience
In regards to Emotional Exhaustion and Resilience, a significant negative relationship was found (r
= 0.26, p 0.01) between the two variables.

Media And Mass Media
In today s society, mass media is considered to have been one of the most powerful leading
sources of news stories and content on what is going on in the world. Mass Media and
entertainment are the most used forms of popular culture that plays a noteworthy role when it
comes down to shaping and sculpting our perceptions of others. For many citizens of the us,
news media is one of the most primary ways that we learn about different people from different
places and learn about people who are different from us. The problem though, is that many
representations are based on cultural stereotypes, which tend to marginalize and place certain
groups inferior to others. The media is considered to be a tool to create and maintain a balanced
society which is created by a group of well informed people, democracy and also a sense of
social justice. In fact, the media has a prominent influence on all aspects of human life in modern
times Sadly, a lot of the images that are shown and viewed in the media tend to leave long lasting
impressions, whether good or bad. Some of these impressions have the ability to leave a negative
impact on the viewers. Although the media is a very useful resource, the media has been very
destructive to our society and most importantly the African Americancommunity. sense of humor.
Some people might argue that the media doesn t directly target one race, culture, or religion Some
people would say that negative media coverage is equal regardless of race.

The Mystery That Was Jay Gatsby
The Mystery that was Jay Gatsby
I carry on a little business on the side, a sort of sideline, you understand (Fitzgerald 87). In The
Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, this is the closest Jay Gatsby comes to revealing how he
actually made his fortune. And even here, he doesn t reveal much, but Nick Carraway assumes it
s something illegal when Gatsby goes on to say, It happens to be a rather confidential sort of thing
(Fitzgerald 88). Gatsby is a mysterious man. Because he is evasive and even untruthful about his
life and wealth, everyone around Gatsby makes up their own stories about him. Gatsby s
background is so unfathomable, it is speculated that he acquired his money by playing a part in
illegal activities including fixing the 1919 World Series and Prohibition.
Jay Gatsby s is a rags to riches story that on the surface appears to be the fulfillment of the
American Dream. Born James Gatz, he comes from the Midwest, specifically North Dakota. His
parents were unsuccessful farmers. He was determined to be leave poverty behind. He first
became the personal assistant of Dan Cody, who he happened to meet on Lake Superior. Cody
gave him his first taste of wealth, and he liked it. They traveled around the world three times and
stayed together for five years. After Cody died, Gatsby went into the military. It was during that
time that he met Daisy Buchanan, a rich socialite. He fell in love with her, but because he was not
wealthy, Daisy s family did not approve of their

The War Of Abraham Lincoln
The 1860 s was a time when the world was facing one of the bloodiest war in history. One of the
reasons for the war was the election of Abraham Lincoln. South Caroline issued the Declaration of
the Causes of Secession because they believed Lincoln was anti slaver (Bartels). However during
the most consequential period in American history, on November 1860 Abraham Lincolnwas elected
as the sixteenth president of the United Statesand the first Republican President. As the commander
in chief the union army, Lincoln needed to bring an end to the war and reunite the nation. On
November 19, 1863 Abraham Lincoln gave one of the most inspirational wartime speeches at the
Gettysburg National Cemetery. The Gettysburg Addressevoked a sense of unity into the American
citizens and human equality, which was greatly needed at that time. Lincoln s prerogative was to
acknowledge the values our founding fathers had, honor the human sacrifices and remind the
citizen of the optimistic purpose of war.
Abraham Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809, in humble surroundings, a one room log
cabin with dirt floors in Kentucky. Coming from a farmer family Lincoln had no access to a
formal education, so he self educated himself from the basics of English to the complicated
language of law. Eventually he became a self taught Illinois lawyer and a great speaker. Lincoln s
family didn t believe in the idea of slavery so he too grew up finding it frightful (History.com).

Key Messages Of The Foundation Phase Curriculum
Introduction This assignment will be exploring how the key messages of the Foundation Phase
are applied throughout all aspects of the curriculum. It will analyse childhood theorists sentiments
about the Foundation Phase, the notion of play in learning, both indoor and outdoor, and
Personal Social Development, Well Being and Cultural Diversity. The Foundation Phase is
constructed to provide consistency to each child s education during a crucial stage of their
development. However, the consistency does not affect the challenge of the curriculum: Children
are given more opportunities to enhance their knowledge through practical activities, open ended
questions and problem solving. The proposals made up by the Welsh Assembly Government
[WAG] for the Foundation Phase included a curriculum that reinforced and enhanced those put
in practice by the Awdurdod Cymwysterau, Cwricwlum ac Asesu Cymru s [ACCAC] document
Desirable Outcomes for Children s Learning Before Compulsory School Age (2000) . (DCELLS,
2008b) The Foundation Phase curriculum is a legal requirement by means of an Order
(DCELLS, 2008b). The curriculum, produced by the WAG, was implemented progressively to
allow schools to fuse and allow the children to settle with the Foundation Phase. Dcells 2008b

Essay on The Concerto
The Concerto
Since the Baroque era, the concerto has played a vital role in the music world. According to the
Merriam Webster dictionary, a concerto is a composition for one or more soloists and orchestra
with three contrasting movements. There are two main types: the concerto grosso and the classical
concerto; both will be discussed later. While the term concerto is relatively easy to understand in
context, when put into use the term becomes more complicated to define.
The basic elements that make up a concerto include three movements with one movement usually
dedicated for a solo instrument such as the piano or violin with orchestra accompaniment. Since the
late 18th century, the first movement is most likely in the sonata form ... Show more content on

By doing this, the sound made by the groups swells, portraying to the audience a sound of
growth and progression. According to the textbook Music Appreciation Online, in this type of
concerto, a tutti section, a full orchestra (with basso continuo), and a small group of solo
instruments usually referred to as the concertino or principale is used. In the concertino section,
two or more soloists are used. Arcangelo Corelli was the first major composer of the concerti
grossi (the Italian form of the concerto grosso). The concerto grosso comes in two major forms:
the concerto da chiesa (church chant) and the concerto da camera (chamber concert). The
concerto da chiesa was used for formal occasions and alternated between adagio and allegro
movements. For the most part, the movements were written in the same key, however there were
occasions where one or more of the movements were in contrasting tonality. The sonata de
camera was made up of a prelude and a succession of dances that were all in the same key. Its
structure was that of a slow introduction, a fugued allegro, a cantabile slow movement and an
energetic finale. This setup created its dancelike sound and feeling. The sonata da camera
composition grew to be referred to as a suite, a partita, or in the French opera

Soil Erosion And Vegetation Erosion
What is Soil Erosion, Types of Soil Erosion, Causes of Soil Erosion
Soil erosion is a naturally occurring process in which the top layer of the soil washes away that
affects all landforms which can occur due to heavy rains, cyclone, typhoons, hurricanes, twisters,
animals, human activities etc. In agriculture, soil erosion denotes to the wearing away of a field s
topsoil by the natural physical forces of water and wind) or through forces associated with farming
activities such as tillage.
In Erosion, there are three major phenomenon that takes place soil detachment, movement and
deposition. Topsoil, which is high in organic matter, fertility and soil life, is relocated elsewhere
on site where it builds up over time or is carried ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The amount of hill slope erosion largely depends on how the land is used. Sheet erosion occurs
when a thin layer of topsoil is removed over a whole hillside paddock and may not be readily
noticed. Rill erosion occurs when runoff water forms small channels as it concentrates down a
slope. These rills can be up to 0.3m deep. If they become any deeper than 0.3m they are referred to
as gully erosion.
Scalding:
Scalding can occur when wind and water erosion removes the top soil and exposes saline soils.
Raindrop impact alone can result in large amounts of soil being moved. However water or wind
moving over the surface will remove more soil, and contribute to sheet, rill and gully erosion.
Erosion also tends to remove the lighter, smaller soil particles first (such as clay and silt), leaving
fine and coarse sand behind.
Gully Erosion:
Gully erosion happens when runoff concentrates and flows strongly enough to detach and move
soil particles. For example, a waterfall may form, with runoff picking up energy as it plunges
over the gully head. Gullies may develop in watercourses or other places where runoff
concentrates. This type of erosion is highly visible and affects soil productivity, restricts land use,
and can damage roads, fences and buildings. The depth of the gully developed can range from 2m
up to 15 m.
Tunnel Erosion:
Tunnel erosion is the removal of subsoil. When water penetrates through a soil crack or

According to Bennett (2009), a population is defined as the complete set of people or things

7. What is the approximate percentage of students represented in the data set who are between the
ages of 29 and 45 inclusive?
Well I hope I am on the right track as far as this goes...I am giving it my best. There is a total of
163 people ranging between the age of 21 to 65 so what I did in order to calculate how many
individuals there are between the ages of 29 and 45 was I created a frequency chart for the total
number of individuals. So for 163 people between ages 21 to 65 = 100% and of the 100% of I
calculated that there were 88 students that represented between the ages 29 to 45 = 54%. How I
came to my conclusion was by using Stat Crunch by first going to summary states then I chose
How Old which gave me the total represented of 163. Then in Stat Crunch I created a frequency
table and just counted up the total number of students that responded there age between 29 45.
Then after I calculated and got my number of 88 I divided that number by the total number of 163
which was 0.539877301 and I just rounded it off to 54%.

aspects of Australian history. The film depicts heritage myths regarding Australian culture; and
Australia s size in the world at large. Weir s Gallipoli is taken from an Australian perspective and

The communication mishap required Frank to run from the trenches to the base camp on the
beach. Frank had to beg the British commander to stop the raid; however even though the
commander conceded to canceling the raid, Frank didn t have enough time to get back to the
trenches to relay the information to Major Barton. Frank arrived too late and Archy was killed in
the raid. The victimology of Australia in regards to World War I, as well as the destruction and
assimilation of the indigenous people into Britain society; showcases the negative relationship
Britain has with Australia. This scene in particular paints an accurate picture of the relationship
between the Australians and the British during, and after World War I. As stated before, Archy is
depicted by Weir as the old Australia therefore that makes Frank the new Australia .
The second character that Weir introduces is Frank (played by Mel Gibson). It is implied that
Frank is Irish, with a long standing distrust of the British due to the fact that the British killed his
father in a battle in Dublin. Franks doesn t want to join the war, simply because he doesn t want
to help the British. He is depicted as a city slicker, that doesn t possess the qualities needed in
combat. In one scene, it shows that Frank doesn t even know how to ride a horse; which was a
critical aspect of the Western Australian Light

Ethical Issues Related to the Cloning Debate
The act of cloning a human being comes dangerously close to human beings acting as God. Do
human beings have the right to tamper with nature in this way? This essay explores the various
ethical issues related to the cloning debate, and seeks answers to this deep philosophical question at
the heart of bioethics. As a student of genetic biology and future biologist, this question also has
personal relevance. Our scienceis evolving at a rapid pace. As humancloning becomes increasingly
possible, it is important that we analyze the ethicsof cloning so that judicious public policy can be
created. It is therefore my position that research into cloning should continue to fulfill the
fundamental goals of scientific exploration and to explore the possibilities that cloning might have
in terms of benefitting human society; on the other hand, there are certainly ethical limits to the
practice of cloning. It is important to define those ethical limits, so that scientists understand the
best ways to proceed.
Cloning is already happening in laboratories around the world, and especially in countries with few
restrictions on scientific research. As Tierney points out, Singapore and South Korea are
spearheading cloning research as if scientists in those countries are keen to make major medical
breakthroughs. This is partly because of the lack of formal taboos against cloning, which are
embedded in European cultures and also in North America. It therefore makes sense that the outcry

The Diamond Necklace, By Maupassant
Social classes exists since the years. Some people born rich and their generation stays rich all
the time, while other born poor and all their stays poor all the times. However, there are other
people who move from one class to another. Sometimes this mutation depends on the individual
effort. In the Diamond Necklace, Guy de Maupassant describe the life of Mathilde who born
poor and was not happy with her situation. Since she was unable to switch her social class, she
tried for all occasion to appear as rich women. In this short story, Maupassant shows in different
ways why Mathilde should recognize and accept her social class and live in the level of her
class. Maupassant thinks Mathilde should accept her social class because her honor does not
depend to her social class. Also, she should accept her class because happiness does not depend
on the materials things. Finally Mathilde should accept her social class to avoid the deterioration
of her life. First of all, Mathilde should accept her social class because her honor does not depend
on her social class but on her beauty and her intellectually capacity. People are not respected
because they are rich or poor, the beauty of each person is determinant in how people will respect
him. Especially for women in the Mathilde s society there was neither caste nor rank, for beauty,
grace and charm take the place of family and birth (Maupassant). Since Mathilde had a natural
beauty, she should not care about her class. Her

A Positive Outlook on a Divorce
Divorce is always a dreadful experience in a person s life, especially a child s . When parents
divorce, children are left hopeless and confused. A divorce can cause a child to have a variety of
different reactions. The effects on the child are much more important than the actual divorce. A
divorce causes the most damage to the children in the divorce. Each child sees a divorce
differently, but most divorces have a negative impact on the child s life. When I was a teengager,

Divorce has negative effects on children because if children are left out from one of their
parents, they are more likely to have lower self esteem and psychological damage (Portnoy et al.
126). So, some children of divorced parents have behavior problems, such as, depression, low self
esteem actions and poor school performance (Portnoy et al. 126). Children often feel abandoned
and unwanted and some of them also feel that they are responsible for their parents getting a
divorce.
Children usually feel a lot of pain and emotional conflict during and after divorce. Whether they
say it or not, parents can never be sure how deeply children are affected by the divorce and the
struggles around it. After a divorce, the child is left with a bunch of responsibilities that they
might not be able to handle on their own. In a research conducted by Mavis E. Hetherington,

The Pros And Cons Of Competitive Gaming
Today, because of advanced technology a lot of things has changed. New things are invented. Mail
have become e mail, cellular phones become smartphones and internet becomes our best friend.
Those are some of the changes brought by technology. Have you ever thought these advancement of
technology can bring a new form of sport?
Competitive gaming, sometimes called as E Sports or Electronic sports by fans and spectators is a
form of sports where the primary aspects of the sport are facilitated by electronic systems
(Hamari Sjoblom, 2015). It is not like the traditional sports we ve seen, but the essence of a sport

Like a traditional sport certain skills are required to play a video game. These skills required are
eventually developed and can be used in real life situations. Mental skills, strategies or training
are just a few other examples of components which influence the performance. All of them can be
found in Competitive Gaming. (Froböse, 2014) , because of some similarities of Sports of E
Sports some nations are starting to recognize it as a real sport. The United States of America
recognizes E Sports players (professional gamers) as professional athletes. The US government
finally now recognizes E Sports players as professional athletes, and will grant them visas under
that identifier. (Tassi, 2013). Organization are for formed to manage and regulate E Sports

King Louis Xiv Baroque Style Essay
King Louis XIV of France used the Baroque style of art in an effective attempt to represent
himself as an absolute monarch due to many stylistic choices this particular style has that would
enable him to get his power across more effectively than any other style. Most noticeable of all
aspects of the Baroque style is the amount of detail and stuff in the painting. Textures make the
fabrics look like real velvet and silk that are way more expensive than other types of cloth.
Realism that the Baroque style employs helps reinforce the power of an absolute monarch by
portraying King Louis as a real force to be reckoned with as well as a symbol of perfection due to
the muscles and the stance he is put in. The stance is more natural and curved than

its customers and non customers. On April 28, 2015 Bud Light released a new slogan to their

Your Vocabulary Tonight . Bud Light released this slogan because they started a campaign
#Upforwhatever in May 2012 (Brown, 2016). The campaign was advertised and geared towards the
younger generation to try new things. The movement of this campaign was to encourage people to
get out of their personal bubble and try new adventure. This was geared towards the younger
generation because that is who Anheuser Busch wanted to target because that generation can afford
to spend $18 on a 24 pack of beer and would not break the bank for college students. Another reason
that Anheuser Busch wanted to target that generation because they are all on social media and
advertising is shifting that way. The #Upfowhatever movement was to gain new business through
new customers and corporations (Hughes, 2015). The campaign was already two years old and has
inspired millions of consumers to engage with that hashtag to get out and try new adventures

The sociological and psychological perspective to child and family health in the wider context.
The purpose of this essay is to critically assess current health and care policies for children in a

In the 1980s there was a certain type of genre that rocked America, it was known as hair bands.
Def Leppard, Whitesnake, Poison, and Warrant and many others were all hair bands, but what

For example, Guns N Roses is commonly debated over whether they are a hair band or not.

some make up, and flamboyant clothes. There weren t as many hair bands as you would think,

There is never really a definite answer to who really created rock n roll. It wasn t Elvis, and it
wasn t Chuck Berry. Its widely believed that the first rock n roll single was Rocket 88 by Jackie
Brenston. Most people think that rock n roll started from The Blues, but Larry Birnbaum says
that it comes from Rhythm Blues. It eventually evolved into the typical rock sounds of the 50s
and 60s that we know, like Chuck Berry s Johnny B. Goode and Elvis Presley s Jailhouse Rock.
That eventually led to bands from the 70s and early 80s like The New York Dolls and Led
Zeppelin which were more of Glam Rock. Hair metal was influenced from the glam rock of the
70s. Glam Rock was basically a step down from Hair Bands. They wore more feminine clothes,
like heels and pantyhose. Hair Bands didn t exactly wear heels and pantyhose, but they adopted
the look of wearing makeup, the strange clothes, and most importantly the hair. Quiet Riots

That made way for the rest of the genre and caused its rise to fame. The television program MTV

They do not view YRE as a calendar configuration for space, achievement, or enrichment, but rather

the main purposes of Year Round Schooling is to lower the break time between school sessions.
This causes children to have a better chance of retaining the knowledge that they learned from the
previous year (Wyoming Tribune Eagle). Year round schools consist of the same amount of school

all mammals. HLA Human leukocyte antigens are found in humans. There are two major classes
of HLA antigens. Class one is HLA A, B, C and class two is found on immune cells and they are
DQ DP and DR. They are very polymorphic and everyone carries a wide range of HLA proteins.
There is actually a less than 5% chance that unrelated individuals find an identical match. These
HLA antigens can appear foreign to recipients immune system and this can trigger a rejection.
5.HLA cross matching is when a recipients blood is tested for HLA typing and listed in UNOS
registry. This allow for better matching between donors and recipients. Sometimes HLA matching
is not always used in heart, lung, and liver transplants and this is due to the critical state these
patients are in. HLA matching is used in kidney and stem cell transplants when more accurate
HLA matching is needed for long term survival. There was systematic review and meta analysis
done by Ansarai, Bucin, and Nilsson (2014) that looked at studies on HLA matching in heart

rejection. However, there was not a lot of RCTs. This was a major limitation. They did recommend

Student Success is now considered a vital element in the community college role. We must teach

career goals thereby, surviving in the workplace. Therefore, I am proposing a student mentorship
program that targets all students enrolling at Mohave Community College (MCC). The program will

are classified within the at risk category. Each student at registration will receive information
regarding the program, and encourage to participate when attending orientation.
Identified Need
The implementation and formulation of the program are highly informed by the fact that certain
groups of students desperately need interventions to enhance their academic performance and
increase their retention rates (Stromel, 2000). The program has identified six types of students who
require mentor consisting of the nontraditional adults; students in remedial studies; students
exhibiting low classroom participation; learners with low campus or community involvement;
anyone who lacks positive role models, and students complaining about time. Therefore, with the
tremendous increase of nontraditional and remedial students at MCC which, exhibit low

substances should have an effect of either slowing or accelerating the rusting process. After we

It starts as an alcoholic liquid but as it sours it turns to vinegar. Another characteristic of vinegar
is that it is very acidic. Which it is also known that acid helps accelerate the production of rust.
Acid rain proves this statement (Made). The second substance bleach, however is not acidic
(Anne). Bleach is a chemical that is often used for cleaning purposes. It can be used to lighten
clothes or in the house to kill germs and sterilize. There many different types of bleach such as
chlorine bleach or oxygen bleach (Anne). One the main ingredients in household bleach is sodium
hypochlorite, which comes from salt (Mary). Salt is also known to accelerate the process of
corrosion. The presence of sodium or the sterilizing characteristics may have an effect on the metal
causing an acceleration or deceleration of rust. Water is what most commonly causes the outcome

that allow for the formation of rust. Water can cause rust to form in just a matter of days. It all

The Old Testament was written over a wide historical period, it describes the relationship of God

The text of 2 Kings 17 tells of the reason why Israel fell as the Lord removed them from His sight
(2 Kings 17:18). First, they fell because they imitated the evil of those around them (vss. 7 8).
Second, they fell because they practiced idolatry (vss. 9 12). Third, they fell because they
rebelled against God (vss. 13 16). Forth, they fell because they sacrificed their children (vss. 17
18). Samaria fell to the Syrians during the reign of King Hoshea.
9. Fall of Judah (Jerusalem) (578BC)
Despite the strong remonstrance of Jeremiah and others, Zedekiah revolted against
Nebuchadnezzar, ceasing to pay tribute to him and entered into an alliance with Pharaoh Hophra
of Egypt. In 589 BCE, Nebuchadnezzar II returned to Judah and again besieged Jerusalem. During
this period, many Jews fled to surrounding Moab, Ammon, Edom and other countries to seek
refuge. The city fell after an eighteen month siege and Nebuchadnezzar again pillaged both
Jerusalem and the Temple, after which he destroyed them both. After killing all of Zedekiah s sons,
Nebuchadnezzar took Zedekiah to Babylon, putting an end to the independent Kingdom of Judah.

Effects Of Morality And Morality
Memory Effects on Ethics and Morality
Introduction
Memory is one of the essential components of a human being. It affects almost all the aspects
human behavior. Ethics and morality are part of two contemporary factors that affect the human
memory and the subsequent actions in the social domain. It seems that people have lowered
morals in the phase of everyday challenges such that ethical dealings are viewed as a typical
mountain in most situations. In most sectors of the public operation, you find that most of the
problems that are presented there or are linked to lack proper ethics and morality. Well as the action
of the population says that morality is relative and not absolute, I always believe that that there
should be a bar of reference. Additionally, the reason why I considered the topic is due to the
divergent discussion that comes with it in any given forum of discussion. The most critical epithet
in the topic is its need of reinforcement into the society. Talking about this topic will open avenues
for more vibrant and genuine views on the topic. For this paper, I will analyze two articles on
morality and ethics from the psychology today website.

The Misunderstanding of Humans Relationship with Nature Essay
11 And God said, let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding
fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so. (The Bible, Genesis. 1 11)

the nature in a unique way. After that, God created humans and gave them dominion over the other
species and creations. 28 And god blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply,

The world population is growing and growing rapidly, and as the population increase, we require
and consume more of the resources we need to survive. Our resources are decreasing as our
numbers increase. We eat more and more. For example, fishermen on the Chesapeake Bay,
according to Larry Simons (Poisoned Waters), are getting less fish, oysters and crabs. The variety
of what they get is also decreasing since many sea animals became extinct in that bay like shad,
yellow perch and tarpon. Humans are overfishing the resources causing them to disappear. Another
kind of animals that we consume on a daily basis is chicken. Chicken is one of the most common
types of meat that we eat. As the demand on chicken increase, prices increase too. Small
independent businesses cannot reduce their prices since their production is limited. This led big
businesses to be in the lead in mass production with their lower prices. As the chairman of Perdue
farms, one of the biggest chicken farms in the U.S., Jim Perdue said: I think things had to
become bigger in order to keep costs lower. As chicken production increase, their manure also
increases. Small businesses could deal with their chickens manure by absorption because it was
not a lot. On the other hand, big businesses with their mass production, they produce a lot of
manure. What big businesses, like Perdue, do is they dumb it in a river which then goes to the bay.

expectations of perfection that women are supposed to uphold and if they do they are not looked

The ideas that society has put in our minds is that a woman has to be slim, look perfect and always
be ready for a photoshoot. All of the women in this movie trailer have a very similar body type,
these women are all slim, tall and beautiful which shows that the movie industry has narrow
vision. The beauty of the woman as objects and screen space coalesce; she is no longer the
bearer of guilty but a perfect product, whose body, stylized and fragmented by close ups, is the
content of the film and the direct recipient of the spectator s look, (Mulvey, 2006, p. 349). The
idea of a women being able to stay fit as well as being on top of all the modern fashion trends, and
looking perfect is very unrealistic. This is portrayed in the movie trailer when the one mother played
by Mila Kunis is in a workout class or when her and her friends are having conversation in regards
to her bra. When it comes to women s careers they are expected to wear appropriate clothing that
portrays them as professional, this allows them to be respected in the workplace. The contemporary

The “rightness” of Native American boarding school Essay
In the 1870s, the U.S. government enacted a policy of assimilation of Native Americans, to
Americanize them. Their goal was to turn them into white men. Schools were an important part of
facilitating their goal. In 1879, Richard Henry Pratt founded the Carlisle Indian School. It was the
first school in which Native American children were culturally exposed to American ideology. The
idea for the boarding school first came through treatment of Cheyenne warriors. In the 1860s,
Americans were in the midst of a major western migration. Settlers were moving into the western
region, pushing natives off lands, and in some cases, killing livestock. Warriors then took revenge
on settlers and soldiers. General Sherman called for the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pratt then turned his attention to native children. He saw the example of the Hampton Institute for
Negroes, which taught children industrial skills. He concluded that to transform natives, one had to
start with the children. In 1879, the government consented to Pratt s request. He went to Dakota
Territory to find students for his new Carlisle Indian School in Pennsylvania. Pratt determined the
only way to change them was assimilation through total immersion. The school was established in
an abandoned army post. The children wore military uniforms and cut their hair. In the first few
years, the children suffered epidemics of cholera, influenza, and tuberculosis. As a result, they made
a cemetery on the school.
Lack of cultural diversity
Ethnocentrism
Social workers strive to keep the uniqueness of individuals and communities. The preservation of
diversity honors the distinctiveness of individuals and communities. Boarding schools were
genocidal to the cultural structure of Native Americans. They were forced to assimilate to the
image of the white man: It disjointed family structure, dishonored their cultural differences and
language. Children placed in these schools were deprived of learning their heritage. Pratt s goal of
humanizing Native Americans is the basis of ethnocentrism. Pratt like many Americans during this
time believed American culture was the only and right way of life. Although most cultures have,

As I open the double glass doors at the Pub I am overwhelmed with all of
the noise. This place sounds more like a bar than a laundry mat. There is music playing,
beeping from the arcade games, a metal fan going, tumbling noises from the dryers, and
wet clothes being thrown around in the washers. I can barely keep my train of thought.
The humidity in the room made it very uncomfortable. The smell on the other hand is
great it smells so clean and warm. The room was filled with many different people.
There were college students, families, people that were by themselves, screaming babies
and a few senior citizens. The room is fairly large with dinghy white walls that have a
moldy green border running along ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is also a gigantic world atlas on the
wall that is only partly visible because of the three arcade games standing in its way.
Hanging from the ceiling there is a t.v monitor playing the news. In front of the arcade
games is a round wooden table accompanied by two dark green plastic chairs and a coke
machine with a faint buzz. To the right of the doors there is a large window that can
barely be seen out of. In front of the window is a green newspaper stand and ten red
twenty five cent machines that contain an assortment of different candies and fake
jewelry. In the clutter of twenty five cent machines stands a tall beige scale that claims
to be able to tell your fortune by your weight. Behind that mess is another round wooden
table surrounded by three more dark green lawn chairs. Sitting beside the table is a large
roaring metal fan. Hanging above the table is a surveillance camera an another t.v
monitor that displays what the camera picks up. In the center of the room there is a
muddle of noisy washing machines. In both the first and last rows are ten white washing
machines similar to household ones. Between the white washers are fourteen stainless
steel washing machines and a small lounge area. These washers are not similar to
household ones. They look like huge metal boxes and have a

Aimee Semple Mcpherson
Aimee Book Report
Percentage of reading: 100% Aimee Semple McPherson is the founder of the International Church
of the Foursquare Gospel and also known as the Foursquare Denomination. She was born in
Canada on a small farm and had an encounter with the Lord that changed her life forever. She was
born and raised in a Christian family, but at a young age had an encounter with the Lord that had
her desiring to be as intimate as possible in a relationship with Him. From that moment forward her
adventure with God began. As a young woman, she married an Evangelist name Robert Semple.
After marrying her husband, they eventually left for the mission field of China. While in the
mission field, her husband had ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Eventually, her ministry was booming and she was being called to many places to lead revival
/evangelistic meetings. She then moved to Los Angeles, which in due time built the church now
called Angelus Temple. Aimee continued in her evangelistic mission and continued to preach all
over the world. She had even set up a radio broadcasting and a magazine that she ministered to
people through. All in all, Aimee was one of the most prominent female leaders of the Christian
church. She was used mightily by God and really had the heart to reach all of the world for Jesus
Christ. Through her obedience to the Lord, she established the Foursquare denomination which has
always had a missional heart. Through the denomination that she established a bible college was
also established and continue to equip leaders for the ministry. Aimee Semple McPhersonwas by no
means a perfect person, she had her faults, but one thing is that she was an obedient follower of
Christ. Aimee loved the Lord and wanted to share that love with everyone. She had experienced
the power of the Holy Spirit and knew that it was available to everyone. I can say that Aimee may
have been one of the most influential female leaders from the 1900 s. Her obedience and love for
the Lord had a tremendous impact on the world and the church, that we still see

Evidence Based Outcomes And Utilizing Findings
Evidence Based Outcomes and Utilizing Findings Evidenced based practice (EBP) is now
considered to be best practice but, although great strides have been made in applying the
research in practice, there is still progress to be made. EBP is central to delivering the highest
quality healthcare and ensuring the best outcomes for patients. However, EBP guiding the
practice in healthcare systems is not the norm in many healthcare systems across the United
States (Melnyk Fineout Overholt, 2011). The most overwhelming evidence for using EBP in
practice is that is provides better outcomes in patients and provides a higher quality of care.
Therefore, patients are more satisfied, healthcare costs are reduced and there is a reduction in
differences in delivery of care according to geographic area (Melnyk Fineout Overholt, 2011).
Evidence based practice is defined by Polit and Beck (2012) as a practice that involves making
clinical decisions on the best available evidence which is usually from disciplined research, while
research utilization is using an aspect of a study for something else unrelated to the original
research. The two terms are sometimes used synonymously but there is a distinct difference. In
research utilization the emphasis is on translating the information into real word applications.
Evidence based practice (EBP) is broader than research utilization and incorporates research
findings with other factors (Polit Beck, 2012). Many factors work to either facilitate

Selecting a Mentor My project mentor was Mr Laeeq ur Rehman, who is a senior faculty member at College of Accounting and Management Sciences (CAMS) and was also my tutor for the ACCA paper P3. Mr Rehman is an ACCA, MBA, and CGA. He has mentored several students to successfully complete their Research and Analysis Project. I was inspired by his teaching techniques and his ideas. First Meeting During the first meeting, Mr. Rehman explained me the required format of the research and analysis project. He asked me the reason I had chosen the particular topic and we had a thorough discussion regarding the chosen topic. He advised me to read the Oxford Brookes University BSC Information Pack and conduct my research in accordance to its guidelines. I also discussed some of the information sources and data collection methods in that meeting. I was impatient about the research approach and design, so I asked my mentor several questions, which helped me to understand the requirements. The CSR and ethics models studied in P1 and P3 were also discussed as these were to be used for the evaluation of company s policies. I also took notes in the meeting so that I do not forget important details later. Second Meeting The second meeting was held when I finished my section one and section two of the project. • 4. Relationship Between Burnout And Work Engagement Relationship between Burnout and Work Engagement A significant negative relationship with Emotional Exhaustion was found for engagement (r= 0.35, p 0.01) based on the above results. From the results, academics who reported a lesser degree of engagement in their work are the ones who are more emotionally exhausted. Here, burnout shows a moderate inverse relationship with engagement, in that the higher degree of burnout reported the lesser the engagement. This result supported the first hypothesis presented in the study, i.e. burnout is negatively correlated with work engagement. Relationship between Burnout and Pressure to Publish In Table 6 above, results show Pressure to Publish to have a significant and positive relationship with that of Emotional Exhaustion (r = 0.36, p 0.01) indicating that academics who reported higher feelings of being under pressure to publish displayed higher levels of Emotional Exhaustion than those who reported lower feelings of being under pressure. Or in other words, as an academic s perceived Pressure to Publish increased, so did their levels of Emotional Exhaustion. According to this result, academics levels of burnout is indeed affected by their perceived feelings of pressure to publish supporting the second hypothesis of the study. Relationship between Burnout and Resilience In regards to Emotional Exhaustion and Resilience, a significant negative relationship was found (r = 0.26, p 0.01) between the two variables. ... For many citizens of the us, news media is one of the most primary ways that we learn about different people from different places and learn about people who are different from us. Scott Fitzgerald, this is the closest Jay Gatsby comes to revealing how he actually made his fortune. And even here, he doesn t reveal much, but Nick Carraway assumes it s something illegal when Gatsby goes on to say, It happens to be a rather confidential sort of thing (Fitzgerald 88). Gatsby is a mysterious man. Because he is evasive and even untruthful about his life and wealth, everyone around Gatsby makes up their own stories about him. Gatsby s background is so unfathomable, it is speculated that he acquired his money by playing a part in illegal activities including fixing the 1919 World Series and Prohibition. • 7. The War Of Abraham Lincoln The 1860 s was a time when the world was facing one of the bloodiest war in history. One of the reasons for the war was the election of Abraham Lincoln. South Caroline issued the Declaration of the Causes of Secession because they believed Lincoln was anti slaver (Bartels). However during the most consequential period in American history, on November 1860 Abraham Lincolnwas elected as the sixteenth president of the United Statesand the first Republican President. As the commander in chief the union army, Lincoln needed to bring an end to the war and reunite the nation. On November 19, 1863 Abraham Lincoln gave one of the most inspirational wartime speeches at the Gettysburg National Cemetery. The Gettysburg Addressevoked a sense of unity into the American citizens and human equality, which was greatly needed at that time. Lincoln s prerogative was to acknowledge the values our founding fathers had, honor the human sacrifices and remind the citizen of the optimistic purpose of war. Abraham Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809, in humble surroundings, a one room log cabin with dirt floors in Kentucky. Coming from a farmer family Lincoln had no access to a formal education, so he self educated himself from the basics of English to the complicated language of law. Eventually he became a self taught Illinois lawyer and a great speaker. Lincoln s family didn t believe in the idea of slavery so he too grew up finding it frightful (History.com). • 8. Key Messages Of The Foundation Phase Curriculum Introduction This assignment will be exploring how the key messages of the Foundation Phase are applied throughout all aspects of the curriculum. It will analyse childhood theorists sentiments about the Foundation Phase, the notion of play in learning, both indoor and outdoor, and Personal Social Development, Well Being and Cultural Diversity. The Foundation Phase is constructed to provide consistency to each child s education during a crucial stage of their development. However, the consistency does not affect the challenge of the curriculum: Children are given more opportunities to enhance their knowledge through practical activities, open ended questions and problem solving. The proposals made up by the Welsh Assembly Government [WAG] for the Foundation Phase included a curriculum that reinforced and enhanced those put in practice by the Awdurdod Cymwysterau, Cwricwlum ac Asesu Cymru s [ACCAC] document Desirable Outcomes for Children s Learning Before Compulsory School Age (2000) . (DCELLS, 2008b) The Foundation Phase curriculum is a legal requirement by means of an Order (DCELLS, 2008b). The curriculum, produced by the WAG, was implemented progressively to allow schools to fuse and allow the children to settle with the Foundation Phase. • 9. Essay on The Concerto The Concerto Since the Baroque era, the concerto has played a vital role in the music world. According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, a concerto is a composition for one or more soloists and orchestra with three contrasting movements. There are two main types: the concerto grosso and the classical concerto; both will be discussed later. While the term concerto is relatively easy to understand in context, when put into use the term becomes more complicated to define. The basic elements that make up a concerto include three movements with one movement usually dedicated for a solo instrument such as the piano or violin with orchestra accompaniment. Since the late 18th century, the first movement is most likely in the sonata form ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By doing this, the sound made by the groups swells, portraying to the audience a sound of growth and progression. According to the textbook Music Appreciation Online, in this type of concerto, a tutti section, a full orchestra (with basso continuo), and a small group of solo instruments usually referred to as the concertino or principale is used. In the concertino section, two or more soloists are used. Arcangelo Corelli was the first major composer of the concerti grossi (the Italian form of the concerto grosso). The concerto grosso comes in two major forms: the concerto da chiesa (church chant) and the concerto da camera (chamber concert). The concerto da chiesa was used for formal occasions and alternated between adagio and allegro movements. For the most part, the movements were written in the same key, however there were occasions where one or more of the movements were in contrasting tonality. The sonata de camera was made up of a prelude and a succession of dances that were all in the same key. Its structure was that of a slow introduction, a fugued allegro, a cantabile slow movement and an energetic finale. This setup created its dancelike sound and feeling. The sonata da camera composition grew to be referred to as a suite, a partita, or in the French opera ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Soil Erosion And Vegetation Erosion What is Soil Erosion, Types of Soil Erosion, Causes of Soil Erosion Soil erosion is a naturally occurring process in which the top layer of the soil washes away that affects all landforms which can occur due to heavy rains, cyclone, typhoons, hurricanes, twisters, animals, human activities etc. In agriculture, soil erosion denotes to the wearing away of a field s topsoil by the natural physical forces of water and wind) or through forces associated with farming activities such as tillage. The amount of hill slope erosion largely depends on how the land is used. Sheet erosion occurs when a thin layer of topsoil is removed over a whole hillside paddock and may not be readily noticed. Rill erosion occurs when runoff water forms small channels as it concentrates down a slope. These rills can be up to 0.3m deep. If they become any deeper than 0.3m they are referred to as gully erosion. Scalding: Scalding can occur when wind and water erosion removes the top soil and exposes saline soils. Raindrop impact alone can result in large amounts of soil being moved. However water or wind moving over the surface will remove more soil, and contribute to sheet, rill and gully erosion. Erosion also tends to remove the lighter, smaller soil particles first (such as clay and silt), leaving fine and coarse sand behind. Gully Erosion: Gully erosion happens when runoff concentrates and flows strongly enough to detach and move soil particles. For example, a waterfall may form, with runoff picking up energy as it plunges over the gully head. Gullies may develop in watercourses or other places where runoff concentrates. This type of erosion is highly visible and affects soil productivity, restricts land use, and can damage roads, fences and buildings. The depth of the gully developed can range from 2m up to 15 m. There is a total of 163 people ranging between the age of 21 to 65 so what I did in order to calculate how many individuals there are between the ages of 29 and 45 was I created a frequency chart for the total number of individuals. So for 163 people between ages 21 to 65 = 100% and of the 100% of I calculated that there were 88 students that represented between the ages 29 to 45 = 54%. This scene in particular paints an accurate picture of the relationship between the Australians and the British during, and after World War I. As stated before, Archy is depicted by Weir as the old Australia therefore that makes Frank the new Australia . The second character that Weir introduces is Frank (played by Mel Gibson). It is implied that Frank is Irish, with a long standing distrust of the British due to the fact that the British killed his father in a battle in Dublin. • 13. Ethical Issues Related to the Cloning Debate The act of cloning a human being comes dangerously close to human beings acting as God. Do human beings have the right to tamper with nature in this way? This essay explores the various ethical issues related to the cloning debate, and seeks answers to this deep philosophical question at the heart of bioethics. As a student of genetic biology and future biologist, this question also has personal relevance. Our scienceis evolving at a rapid pace. As humancloning becomes increasingly possible, it is important that we analyze the ethicsof cloning so that judicious public policy can be created. It is therefore my position that research into cloning should continue to fulfill the fundamental goals of scientific exploration and to explore the possibilities that cloning might have in terms of benefitting human society; on the other hand, there are certainly ethical limits to the practice of cloning. It is important to define those ethical limits, so that scientists understand the best ways to proceed. Cloning is already happening in laboratories around the world, and especially in countries with few restrictions on scientific research. As Tierney points out, Singapore and South Korea are spearheading cloning research as if scientists in those countries are keen to make major medical breakthroughs. This is partly because of the lack of formal taboos against cloning, which are embedded in European cultures and also in North America. It therefore makes sense that the outcry ... They began calling her Babe after she hit 5 homeruns in her 1st game. She had 6 siblings, Dora, Esther Nancy, Ole jr, Louis, Lillie, and Arthur. Babe was the 4th oldest out of them all. When she was a teenager she made the basketball team her freshman year, but not her sophomore because she was too small. In her junior year, and still no more than 5 feet tall, she made the varsity squad and became the star on the team. After one of her basketball games, she was offered to play on a big time basketball team for the Employers Casualty Insurance Company. She left school in February of 1929 to go play play basketball with them, and returned in June to take her graduation exams ( Schoor 11 33). A Research Study On Transplant Immunology Jennifer Wereski The number corresponds to slide number. 1.Hi I am Jennifer Wereski and I am going to talk about transplant immunology specifically heart transplants especially with the case study. Initially I will discuss statistics with general transplants and then UNOS and how they are listed and how that occurs. Then I will move into different types of rejections and medications for transplants. Then I will talk about the case study and future research. 2.I got this information from the US Department of Health and Human services. The most recent statistics that were available are from 2015. There are over 119,000 on waiting lists for different types of transplants. 30,970 transplants were performed in 2015. 22people die each day ... There are two major classes of HLA antigens. Class one is HLA A, B, C and class two is found on immune cells and they are DQ DP and DR. They are very polymorphic and everyone carries a wide range of HLA proteins. There is actually a less than 5% chance that unrelated individuals find an identical match. These HLA antigens can appear foreign to recipients immune system and this can trigger a rejection. 5.HLA cross matching is when a recipients blood is tested for HLA typing and listed in UNOS registry. This allow for better matching between donors and recipients. Sometimes HLA matching is not always used in heart, lung, and liver transplants and this is due to the critical state these patients are in. HLA matching is used in kidney and stem cell transplants when more accurate HLA matching is needed for long term survival. There was systematic review and meta analysis done by Ansarai, Bucin, and Nilsson (2014) that looked at studies on HLA matching in heart transplants. What they found is there was an increased graft survival and decreased rate of rejection. However, there was not a lot of RCTs. This was a major limitation. They did recommend using class two alleles. They appear to have a better benefit rather than ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Student Mentorship Program For The Community College Essay Student Mentoring in the Community College Student Population Served Student Success is now considered a vital element in the community college role. We must teach our students, and equipped them with skills to achieve their educational goal, as well as their career goals thereby, surviving in the workplace. Therefore, I am proposing a student mentorship program that targets all students enrolling at Mohave Community College (MCC). The program will encourage participation from the concurrent enrolled high school students, as well as students that are classified within the at risk category. Each student at registration will receive information regarding the program, and encourage to participate when attending orientation. Identified Need The implementation and formulation of the program are highly informed by the fact that certain groups of students desperately need interventions to enhance their academic performance and increase their retention rates (Stromel, 2000). The program has identified six types of students who require mentor consisting of the nontraditional adults; students in remedial studies; students exhibiting low classroom participation; learners with low campus or community involvement; anyone who lacks positive role models, and students complaining about time. Therefore, with the tremendous increase of nontraditional and remedial students at MCC which, exhibit low motivation skills, time management abilities, and failure to socialize (Campbell, Smith, ... Bleach is a chemical that is often used for cleaning purposes. It can be used to lighten clothes or in the house to kill germs and sterilize. There many different types of bleach such as chlorine bleach or oxygen bleach (Anne). One the main ingredients in household bleach is sodium hypochlorite, which comes from salt (Mary). Salt is also known to accelerate the process of corrosion. The presence of sodium or the sterilizing characteristics may have an effect on the metal causing an acceleration or deceleration of rust. It seems that people have lowered morals in the phase of everyday challenges such that ethical dealings are viewed as a typical mountain in most situations. The world population is growing and growing rapidly, and as the population increase, we require and consume more of the resources we need to survive. Our resources are decreasing as our numbers increase. We eat more and more. For example, fishermen on the Chesapeake Bay, according to Larry Simons (Poisoned Waters), are getting less fish, oysters and crabs. The variety of what they get is also decreasing since many sea animals became extinct in that bay like shad, yellow perch and tarpon. Humans are overfishing the resources causing them to disappear. Another kind of animals that we consume on a daily basis is chicken. Chicken is one of the most common types of meat that we eat. As the demand on chicken increase, prices increase too. Small independent businesses cannot reduce their prices since their production is limited. This led big businesses to be in the lead in mass production with their lower prices. As the chairman of Perdue farms, one of the biggest chicken farms in the U.S., Jim Perdue said: I think things had to become bigger in order to keep costs lower. As chicken production increase, their manure also increases. Small businesses could deal with their chickens manure by absorption because it was not a lot. On the other hand, big businesses with their mass production, they produce a lot of manure. What big businesses, like Perdue, do is they dumb it in a river which then goes to the bay. Their goal was to turn them into white men. Schools were an important part of facilitating their goal. In 1879, Richard Henry Pratt founded the Carlisle Indian School. It was the first school in which Native American children were culturally exposed to American ideology. The idea for the boarding school first came through treatment of Cheyenne warriors. He saw the example of the Hampton Institute for Negroes, which taught children industrial skills. He concluded that to transform natives, one had to start with the children. In 1879, the government consented to Pratt s request. He went to Dakota Territory to find students for his new Carlisle Indian School in Pennsylvania. Pratt determined the only way to change them was assimilation through total immersion. The school was established in an abandoned army post. The children wore military uniforms and cut their hair. In the first few years, the children suffered epidemics of cholera, influenza, and tuberculosis. As a result, they made a cemetery on the school. Lack of cultural diversity Ethnocentrism Social workers strive to keep the uniqueness of individuals and communities. The preservation of diversity honors the distinctiveness of individuals and communities. Boarding schools were genocidal to the cultural structure of Native Americans. They were forced to assimilate to the image of the white man: It disjointed family structure, dishonored their cultural differences and language. Children placed in these schools were deprived of learning their heritage. Pratt s goal of humanizing Native Americans is the basis of ethnocentrism. Evidence Based Outcomes And Utilizing Findings Evidence Based Outcomes and Utilizing Findings Evidenced based practice (EBP) is now considered to be best practice but, although great strides have been made in applying the research in practice, there is still progress to be made. EBP is central to delivering the highest quality healthcare and ensuring the best outcomes for patients. However, EBP guiding the practice in healthcare systems is not the norm in many healthcare systems across the United States (Melnyk Fineout Overholt, 2011). The most overwhelming evidence for using EBP in practice is that is provides better outcomes in patients and provides a higher quality of care. Therefore, patients are more satisfied, healthcare costs are reduced and there is a reduction in differences in delivery of care according to geographic area (Melnyk Fineout Overholt, 2011). Evidence based practice is defined by Polit and Beck (2012) as a practice that involves making clinical decisions on the best available evidence which is usually from disciplined research, while research utilization is using an aspect of a study for something else unrelated to the original research. The two terms are sometimes used synonymously but there is a distinct difference. In research utilization the emphasis is on translating the information into real word applications. Evidence based practice (EBP) is broader than research utilization and incorporates research findings with other factors (Polit Beck, 2012). Many factors work to either facilitate ...
