Emergency Department Bottleneck Proposal Essay example
Emergency Department Bottleneck Proposal Middletown Hospital is a 200 bed, not for profit general
hospital that has an emergency department with 20 emergency beds. The emergency department
handles on an average 100 patients per day. The hospital s CEO has authorized the Six Sigma Team
(SST) to address complaints received from patients seeking treatment between 6:00 p.m. and 10:00
p.m. The complaints are centered on waiting times and poor service. During this time the data
indicates that approximately 70% of the department s admissions occur (University of Phoenix, 2009,
Course Syllabus). To address these complaints and improve performance of the emergency department
the Six Sigma Team must understand process improvement proposals. ... Show more content on

Data collection can be subdivided into three categories with service type, department, and floor. This
collection of data is valuable tool that managers need to have in order to understand the flow of
business within each department. With the collection of data it will allow managers to calculate the
volumes of patients during specific times. The SST will require data collected from all computers used
to monitor access to the admission system. Additional data will have specific times at which the
patient reported to various stations of treatment, and when the patient was discharged. A multivariate
trend forecasting method will be more appropriate in this setting; the use of multiple variables about
the item being forecasted allows seasons and cycles to be combined with other variables and improve
forecast accuracy (Langabeer, 2008). This will give operation managers better forecasting abilities as
they will be able to see trends. Finally, the SST will need to analyze the amount of resources or assets
available to serve demand (Langabeer, 2008). Quantitative data needed to measure capacity will
include: the number of available beds and treatment rooms, the number of key providers and other
staff available at each point of care between 6:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m., and availability of key medical
technologies and equipment. Examples of key medical equipment are diagnostic imaging, X ray and
laboratory equipment.

The Differences Between Dementia And Alzheimer s Disease
When a lot of people think about dementia or Alzheimer s disease, they usually use the two
interchangeably and think they have to do with memory. It is true that they have to do with memory,
but there are major differences between dementia and Alzheimer s disease. Misconceptions and lack
of knowledge can lead to death or injury, which is why initiatives like Healthy People 2020 are so
important. Dementias and Alzheimer s affect a person s daily life in many ways and it can be
dangerous or deadly if not diagnosed and dealt with properly. It is important that there is an increase in
people and their caregivers who are aware of the diagnosis and a decrease in preventable
hospitalizations. Before explaining why this initiative is so important, it is necessary to explain the
differences between dementia and Alzheimer s disease. Dementia is actually not a disease. It s a bunch
of symptoms and is seen more as an umbrella term ( ). It is generally used to describe the loss or
decline of cognitive functioning to the point where it affects the person s daily life. Dementia occurs in
people who have diseases such as ( ). It is generally seen as an elder problem that develops as
someone ages, but this is not necessarily true. Most people who have dementia or Alzheimer s are 65
or older, but there is a type of dementia that affects younger people. This type is called Early Onset
Dementia (EOD) that affects people under 65 years, while 65 years and older would be Late Onset

Music Is The Most Popular Music
According to Oxford s dictionary, music is the vocal or instrumental sounds (or both) combined in
such a way as to produce beauty of form harmony, and expression of emotion. Music has been around
for a very long time. Music has been an influenced since the beginning of time from the beats and
rhythm to just make a nice flow of a song. Music history is sometimes a historical viewpoint in
society. Besides, music is breaking down into five main categories: Jazz, Classical, Rhythm and Blues,
Pop, Rap, and Country. But, Rap music is the most popular music in today s society. In addition, being
that Rap music is popular, Rap music is also the most corrupted music now a day. So, how does music
influences positive and negative effects on people and society? Although, music has been around for
several years, there are so many differences and similarities in music; for instance, all music can be
related by old music that was made, or there is new music that is originated. The differences in music
is the many genres and its effects on people and the society. The cost of albums from the 1960 s to
today s music are much higher. Another difference in music is back in the 1960 s talent was a part of
music, but in today s music all you need is auto tunes. The similarities are that all music is alike in
some way. Also, that music may sound the same. For instance, Marvin Gaye s song Got to Give It Up
sounds similar to Robin Thicke s Blurred Lines , because I believe both songs give

The Old Private Pension System
The old private pension system was created in the 1920 s and expanded throughout the 30 s and 40 s
(McDonnell). Private pensions were considered one of the three income sources for retired elderly.
Originally, private pensions had defined benefits. The employer and employee would agree to a
percentage of salary that the employee would receive from the company annually during retirement.
Contractually obligated, this placed the liability onto the employer. Estimates say that employees
could receive around 40% of their last year s salary as annual income with defined benefits. In the
1990 s, the pension plans gradually changed from defined benefits to defined contribution. The
employees, rather than negotiating retirement salary now determine the amount of their salary that will
be saved in a retirement fund. Retirement income is a burden on the employee rather than employer
(Ghilarducci 8). In order to equal the income of the old plans, employees give their retirement savings
to mutual funds that invest in the stock market. While a key aspect of retirement, the system has
evolved like most economic institutions, favoring the wealthy and established. Furthermore, the
private pension system contributes to a market bubble, putting money into the stock market regardless
of market strength. These two problems cause the modern pension system to be flawed and unstable.
The program must undergo drastic reform in order to save private pensions. It is evident that the
current pension

The Pros And Cons Of Multilateral Cooperation
The book of Silverburg 2011 features contributions from well established scholars and emerging stars
in law and politics, this cutting edge reader provides students with a succinct overview of the key
issues facing international law and multilateral cooperation today. The authors offered diverse,
multinational perspectives on traditional and emergent issues in the practice and study of international
law. A concluding section on international political interaction covers a wide range of issues that link
international politics to international law and multilateral cooperation. In order to understand the
prospects of a multilateral cooperation, we need to look in more detail at the willingness of states to
build multilateral regimes. International ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This goes to show that even the most powerful countries are also dependent international institutions
and multilateral cooperation to gain more benefits that it could offer. There are some recent research
on international institutions that questions legalism and law as well as their effectiveness with or
without regards to political realm. Scholars, few of them, had assumptions about realism, thus,
accepting that relevance of state power as well are arguing interests about world politics. Some
theorists draw conclusions on the influence of international institutions while recognizing the
preferences of states for private rights just avoiding full transparency. Since their states that are not
really certain about their partners and had some trust issues in the past, multilateral cooperation has
some functional hindrances. International institutions can counter this uncertainty by means of
encouraging negotiations and transparency. Past issues can be regarded with more open analyzation
while promoting honesty and preserving good relationship with one another. Thinking about the
normative implications of globalization, focus on the maintenance of effective democratic approach in
each society is one way of the establishing formal structures of international regimes. To be consistent
with democratic values for multilateral cooperation, international organizations that are politically
inclined must be accountable to all aspect of it failure or

ABSTRACT
In FEAABAQUS, adaptive mesh (ALE) method is one of the most important elements to maintain a
high quality mesh throughout an analysis in a case that large deformation causes element distortion.
The purpose of this master of engineering report is to use adaptive meshing in simulation of an
axisymmetric forging problem where highly deformation was seen. Meanwhile, investigating results
of elastic plastic deformation simulation in FEAABAQUS. Through finishing the simulation under
different mesh sizes and mesh types in ABAQUS, rectangle type meshing is better for this forging

The Roles Of The Elizabethan Theatre
Elizabethan Theatre Imagine if it only cost you one penny to get tickets to a Broadway production. It
would almost seem too good to be true! Well, back in the 1600s, in London, you could buy your way
into a theater for as little as one penny. This price made it easy for anyone of any class to be able to
partake in the festivities. Hence, the reason the theaters became so popular from 1562 to 1642. The
theatres were very profitable based on the fact they were so popular in the community. The
Elizabethan theatres were viewed as popular entertainment because of their fanciful attributes, their
various events, and their several venues. In 1576, James Burbage, a theatrical entrepreneur, decided to
build the first theater to be used for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The pit was the yard around the stage. The pit is where you would find most of the lower class people
at, such as the commoners. The theaters were popular for lower class people because it was affordable
for them. There were other amenities that were lacking for the theaters. Almost all the lighting for the
theater was natural light. This meant that most plays would have to be show during the daytime. The
theaters did not have heating either. In the winter months they would have to shut the theater down
and be transferred to indoor playhouses. This actually helped boost popularity because it gave the
people something to do during the cold winter months since it was inside. There were no microphones
or soundboards to be able to hear so actors had to speak loudly and clearly. Unfortunately, there were
also no toilets at the theater. But there were no toilets and the floor they stood on was probably just
sand, ash or covered in nutshells (Shakespeare Globe Education). During the summer hours when it
would become real hot the pit would be called the stinkards. The theater gained popularity based on
the plays they would have showing. In most cases the plays would consist of humor, tragedy, or
histories. Shakespeare was one of the most popular playwrights at this time, and many of his plays
were performed in the Elizabethan theater. Among him were some other famous play writers,

Compare And Contrast Theseus And Oedipus
While I was analyzing the two Greek heroes Theseus and Oedipus origins, it became obvious that they
share quite a few differences and similarities as is common amongst heroes in Greek mythology. The
first similarity I found the two heroes shared was the love and honor their subjects regarded their kings
with. Theseus was revered for his strategic planning and how he used his power to create an equal
ruling between the power of the king and his people. He was acknowledged as one of the first leaders
to create a Democracy, allowing his people to have a say into how the kingdom is ruled. I myself, will
be your leader in wars, and at all times the protector of laws, but beyond this all my fellow citizens
shall have equal rights with me (216). By allowing the inhabitants of Attica to access part of the power
of the king, Theseus knew that his subjects would abide by this ruling because of the value and gain
they would receive from becoming a united community. I feel this peaceful treaty between the two
dynamics; the rich and the poor shows that Theseus was an intelligent and courageous king worthy of
the equal amounts of love and fear the king instilled in the city of Athens. The way Theseus resolved
the issue between the two class systems leads me to believe that Theseus admirers rigid structure and
control but since he is willing to give some of his power to the citizens of Athens in order to keep
peace, he became known as a peaceful ruler instead of a forceful tyrant.

At the bottom right corner, John the Baptist has been depicted as infant at seemingly the same age as
Child Jesus. Saint John raises his arm, with a scroll bearing the first few words of the phrase ECCE.
AGNVS DEI QVI TOLLIT PECCATUM MONDI (Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sins
of the world). In this artwork, we are not able to see the whole phrase but several letters among them,
but it is definitely presenting the same words. The pleasure on Saint John s face while looking at the
scroll foretells his devotion in the future as a Baptist. An angel standing next to the Virgin looks at the
Child Jesus, who looks over his shoulder. The caring face of the angel indicates Jesus s sacrifice is
praised not only by the common people, but holy figures. The background is mainly dark grey, makes
the figures at the front to stand out. Personally, I think the painting is aesthetically attractive because
of the special style of the artist. Realistic are the faces of the figures, which look like real human with
beauty appearance, and their bodies. Idealistic elements include the glowing casts on the Virgin, the
Child Jesus, and Saint John the Baptist, and the sacredness the artist tries to convey through the image.
These two painting, The Divine Shepherdess and Madonna and Child with Saint John the Baptist and
an Angel, have various similarities and

Appropriate AT helps student with disability work around his challenges in performing tasks using
their abilities in order to meet their IEP goals in least restrictive environment accessing common core
curriculum. It is very important for student with disability not only to have a device but also to have

The Different Effects Of Sugar Choice On Yeast...
The Different Effects of Sugar Choice on Yeast Fermentation Rate
Sadia Mustofa
Abstract
Baker s yeast costs little to produce and is convenient to store and use. While baker s yeast can
ferment simple sugars, monosaccharides which are simple sugars and contains one or more hydroxyl
groups per molecule. It takes much longer to ferment polysaccharides which are composed of two or
more monosaccharides. In a beaker, 2g of yeast, 2g of a sugar and 100mL of distilled water at 40°C
were combined in a 250 mL flask. Once the mixture was stirred for two minutes, the fermentation rate
was measured with a timer and the sugars were tested up to three trials each. Fructose had the fastest
average rate of fermentation at 1.42 minutes. Sucralose, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is known that yeast can ferment sugars such as glucose, sucralose, fructose, saccharin, and maltose
but not ferment Truvia, starch, and lactose as efficiently. Simple sugars are known as monosaccharides
whereas complex sugars are polysaccharides because they are made up of monosaccharides through
dehydration reactions. A dehydration reaction occurs when a water molecule is removed from the
reacting molecule and the two molecules become covalently bonded. Glucose and fructose are
monosaccharides whereas, maltose, sucralose, starch, saccharin, and lactose are polysaccharides.
Truvia is the only sugar that is not either a monosaccharide or a polysaccharide. All monosaccharides
and polysaccharides are composed of some multiple of CH2O.
The yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae was used for determining the fermentation of various sugars
because it is convenient to use and ferments quickly. Throughout the experiment, the only factor that
wasn t constant was the sugars used in the fermentation process. Based on this, it was hypothesized
that there would be differences in yeast fermentation of sugars.
Methods
2g of yeast, 2g of glucose, and 100 mL of distilled water at 40°C were combined in a 250 mL flask. A
stir bar was placed in the flask. After the flask was gently stirred, the flask was placed on the stir plate.
Then, the stir setting was turned up to 8 slowly and stirred for two minutes. Another flask was filled

Body Dysmorphic Disorder
In the article, Understanding Body Dysmorphic Disorder: An Essential Guide, Katharine defined as a
condition whereby individuals feel dissatisfied with their physical appearance (12). This condition is
caused by brain differences, genes, and environment. An abnormal brain anatomy might play a huge
role in making people susceptible to this health condition. People with Body Dysmorphic Disorder
(B.D.D) have been known to inherit the conditions from their parents. Environmental factors such as
culture contribute to making a person develop the dysmorphic disorder. These environments usually
contain negative social interactions with people who make funny comments about an individual s
physical appearance.
The article indicates that some of the symptoms of B.D.D include avoidance of social gatherings, and
striving to hide the perceived physical flaws with makeups. Endless comparisons of oneself with
others, suspecting that others are taking special considerations in the victim in a negative manner are
the other symptoms. One recommended treatment method for B.D.D is a visit to a medical expert.
Psychiatrists and other mental health experts are efficient in addressing this condition.

A culture whereby people put great value in physical appearance is composed of people obsessed with
physical perfection. A good example is the high school setting where people are sensitive to the
culture socialization. A scenario involving the competition for a boyfriend among girls might trigger
B.D.D. Two or more girls might seek the attention of a boy. If the kid decides to respond to one of the
girls and ignore the others, a feeling creeps in resulting to B.D.D. The girls might wonder if they have
any physical defects. This query usually marks a long journey of the

A Schenkerian Analysis of Preludio from Bach s Unaccompanied Violin Partita No. 3
A single creative genius lies behind all of Bach s music in all genres...his work exhibits a stylistic
uniformity that transcends the differences between all the genres in which he composed...In short,
Bach s music in all the genres sounds like it is by Bach. Joel Lester
Very few theorists touch upon the topic of motivic and structural coherence in Bach s dance suites.
The keyboard and lute suites deservedly have more published analyses than the string suites
considering there are simply more of them leaving the cello and violin suites pristine and practically
untouched, and unjustifiably so. The most obscure are the violin suites, particularly the ... Show more

The de emphasis of the returning 3 as a passing tone from 4 to 2 lends importance to the incomplete
upper neighbor A, supported by IV. This self contained tonal area stretches over half of the Preludio. A
reprise of an opening passage at the initiation of the A prolongation gestures its independence from its
surrounding, indeed a smaller organism enveloped within the larger animal. This is evident through
the internal auxiliary cadence to A that accompanies the tonal area IV. In retrospect, the IV is already a
long term goal from the beginning. The first 58 measures properly set the stage for the emergence of
IV. The first step on the path to IV is the movement to VI as a short term goal. This is done by first
moving to G# (m.39) through F# (m.37), creating a third progression E F# G# in the process. The G#
is employed first in the top voice as primary tone and then in the bass as pedal point, also the fifth to
the incoming C# (m.51) [FIG 4. EX. 1]. The C#, in a sense, is a midway stopping point from E major
on its way to A major. A# in measure 53 leads to B, creating yet another third progression G# A# B.
The B is to be read not as V of E but as II of A, unfolding to tonic through two consecutive fifths B E
A [EX.2]. As we shall see, the contour of the bass forecasts what is to come; additionally this prelude
within the Preludio presents the material for further elaboration and development.
Now firmly in A, a memorable passage

Windshield Essay
What To Do About A Chip In Your Windshield
If you re driving down the road and a big truck flings road debris against your windshield and
damages it, you re faced with the decision of whether to drive with the damage or call for roadside
repairs. Each situation is different, but generally, it isn t safe to drive with a damaged windshield, and
it may even be against the law in your jurisdiction. Fortunately, you can call a mobile windshield
repair truck to come to your location, whether it is by the road, at your work, or at home. Here is some
information about how the repair process works.
Evaluation Of The Damage
The first decision the glass contractor has to make is whether to repair or replace the windshield. Even
if the glass has to be replaced, it can usually be done at a mobile location. One thing that determines if
the glass can be repaired is the location of the chip. If it is directly in front of your line of vision as
you drive, the contractor may opt to replace the glass, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Be sure to check your coverage before you have the work done so you know if you have to pay out of
pocket or if the contractor can bill your insurance company. If your windshield has to be replaced,
there is a better chance your car insurance will kick in so you can have the work done at no cost to
you.
Whether your insurance company pays for the repairs or not, you don t want to put off fixing the glass.
A sudden temperature change or hitting a bump in the road could cause the chip to send out cracks that
lead to further damage. When the glass is cracked, it isn t stable. That means you aren t protected as
well in case of an accident. Plus, if the damage spreads into your line of sight, it could pose a danger
when you re driving down the road. Make it a priority to repair your damaged windshield as soon as
you can so you stay safe when you

Essay on The Life of Gabriel Garcia Marquez Exposed in...
The Life of Gabriel Garcia Marquez Exposed in His Works
The majority of literary critics would not hesitate in praising the works
of Gabriel Garcia Marquez. Garcia Marquez is often considered one of the
greatest writers to come out of Latin America. Born in Aracataca, a small
town in northern Columbia, he was primarily raised by his maternal
grandparents (Britannica). Biographies often indicate a presence of a large
community including an abundance of relatives when describing his upbringing
(Macondo). While he was surrounded by those who loved him he did not live
during a peaceful time in Columbian history (Macondo). His family and the
constant political turmoil of Columbia would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He spent the majority of his adult life in Europe and Mexico
( Macondo). Garcia Marquez actually wrote his masterpiece One Hundred Years
of Solitude in Mexico, exiled from the conservative rule of dictatorial
leaders in Columbia(Garcia Marquez s Labyrinth).
This story is essentially a saga, telling the story of the creation
and growth of Macondo, a fictional town founded by the Buendia family. This
town deals with the arrival of gypsies, civil wars, strife and struggles
with the entrance into a global economy. Garcia Marquez incorporates these
important themes with fantasy tales one describes a birth of a child between
an animal and human. Written within the genre of magic realism (a literary
style that blends fantastic elements with realistic narrative ) (Garcia
Marquez s Labyrinth), Garcia Marquez captures historical events by
essentially re counting his own family history and influence with Columbian
history as a backdrop. These fantasy tales can be linked to the family
tradition of telling fantasy stories, fables and fairy tales (Review). As a
little boy, his grandparents told him countless stories which would have
been a major inspiration in this novel(Macondo). His grandmother also played
a role with her obsession with superstition and magic(Macondo). Garcia
Marques also learned of things mysterious through his grandfather. His

An Examination Of Post Event Information ( Pei )
Another form of Post event information (PEI) is conformity, in the event that an individual witnesses a
crime committed there is always the potential that there are co witnesses that also witnessed the crime,
while an increase in witnesses may hold some positives there is the potential for conformity.
Conformity takes place when one witnesses memories of a past event become more like another
person s described memories of the same event (Kieckhaefer, J.M. Wright, D.B., 2015, pg. 462). Co
witnesses often alter their memory reports to coincide with other witnesses reports (Goodwin K.A. et
al., 2013, pg. 91). If a co witness is a friend or family then an individual is even more likely to
conform to their views than they would be if the co witness was a stranger. Kieckhaefer and Wright
also found evidence that another factor that increases a witnesses memory conformity is if the co
witness is likable(Kieckhaefer, J.M. Wright, D.B., 2015, pg. 463). There have been multiple studies
conducted where researchers use confederates, research helpers used to feed unknowing participants
information, to determine whether or not participants will conform to the confederate s reports
(Goodwin, K.A. et al., 2013, pg. 91). Furthermore, witnesses are more likely to alter their views when
they are motivated to avoid deviating from the group. Therefore, if a group of other individuals
pressure a witness they are likely to alter their experience to fit with others (Goodwin, K.A. et al.,

Ergot Essay example
Ergot
Ergot (Claviceps purpurea Tul.) is a poisonous fungus that is hazardous to animals and humans. It
appears to be a small, hard, black, elongated structure that grows on and contaminants grains, which is
called scelrotium. The appearance tends to look like mold. When eaten in quantity or small amounts
over a period of time it can be highly toxic. Furthermore, it is a major problem for humans in North
America but even more severe for animals. Humans are susceptible to being contaminated with this
poisonous fungus because ergot can grow on mushrooms, rye, wheat, and barley. These are products
that humans ingest everyday. Ergot is the most notorious poison because it includes several species of
ascomycete fungi with complex life cycles ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The infection can occur by insects also.
According to Fuller and McClintock, ergotism has caused so many occurrences in epidemic and the
middle ages was known as St. Anthony s fire. In France many people died from this disease, which
was caused mainly from eating bread made from rye grains contaminated with ergot (p. 20).
Plant Toxin/Derivative Drug
Researchers state over fifty alkaloids are within the ergot sclerotia, but mainly ergonovine (also
known as ergometrine, ergobasine, ergotocine, ergotstetrine C19H23N3O2, ergotamine
C33H35N5O5,ergotcryptine C32H41N5O5, ergocornine C31H39N5O5, ergocristine C35H39N5O5,
ergosine C30H37N5O5, and ergovalide) is present in ergot. Most of the alkaloids contain thirty to
thirty five carbon atoms, although some have a smaller number. Therefore, these alkaloids can be
classified as polypeptides. All ergot alkaloids form lysergic acid. Lysergic acid diethylamide, LSD, is
the most powerful compound known that produces imitations of severe mental disorders. Ergot
alkaloids not only have the indole structure but the other ring system and side chains as well.
Symptoms
Humans and animals common acute symptoms is a convulsion stimulation of CNS (central nervous
system). Chronic symptoms include damage to the lining of capillaries and constriction of the smaller
arterial blood vessels resulting in gangrene of the extremities (Fuller and McClintock,19). Some

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Conan
In the history of British literature, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle ranks highly amongst the most famous
authors of all time. Mention his name, and most people will immediately think of one thing; Sir Arthur
Conan Doyle equates to Sherlock Holmes.
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was certainly much more than his most famous creation, and away from his
most famous creation, his life was full of interesting and strange facts and events.
NAME
It is common to see Sir Arthur Conan Doyle s name shortened to just Conan Doyle, Conan though,
was not part of his surname, and was in fact just one of his two middle names. Conan Doyle s full
name was Sir Arthur Ignatius Conan Doyle. It was only when he started his professional career that

Specifically, Conan Doyle was an eye specialist, having been an undergraduate at Edinburgh
University from 1876 to 1881.
After completing his time at Edinburgh University, Conan Doyle undertook work as a ship s doctor,
ran doctor s practices in Birmingham, Plymouth, Portsmouth and London, and he even went to Vienna
briefly to continue his studying.
The south coast of England would often prove to be home to Conan Doyle, and for a long period he
lived in Hindhead; and when he died of heart attack, aged 71, in 1930, Conan Doyle was buried in
Minstead.
SPORT
The practices run by Conan Doyle were not particularly successful, and so Conan Doyle would often
find that he had plenty of spare time to indulge in other interests, including writing and playing sport.
It is often said that Conan Doyle is one of the world s most famous goalkeepers; Conan Doyle though
played for the amateur side Portsmouth Association Football Club, and not the more famous
Portsmouth FC as is often said as fact. Portsmouth FC was founded in 1898, whilst Portsmouth AFC
operated from 1884 to 1896.
In 1893, Conan Doyle would briefly move to Switzerland, staying in Davos. Here he started taking
part in the brand new winter sport of skiing, being one of the very first from Britain to try it. Conan

Bizzozero Staining Procedure
An experiment Evaluating whether PCNA supports the classification of Bizzozero (1894) tissues
tissues placed in three categories, reflecting their replicative potential.
Introduction
The aim of this experiment was to utilise PCNA and staining procedures to determine whether
different tissue cell samples proliferate. Tissue which exhibited brown stains prove cell proliferation
and mitotic divisions, this would suggest it being the in the first group of Bizzozero s grouping of
tissue types. Tissue samples which showed no brown staining meant no cells had proliferated and
therefore were of a different tissue type that do not regenerate while present in the body. The PCNA
protein is present during cell division/mitosis therefore, its presence suggests that cell proliferation is
occurring or has occurred. An area can be stained using brown diaminobenzidine (DAB) by using an
antibody that is against the PCNA protein. A primary antibody then attaches to the PCNA molecule,
and a secondary antibody (horse radish peroxidase) attaches to the primary antibody. A ... Show more

Tissue sample B showing no brown staining visible:
Tissue sample C showing minimal brown staining:
Conclusion
The three different tissue types exhibit differing levels of cell replication. Proliferation did not take
place in tissue sample A compared to Tissue sample b having very minimal cell proliferation. The
experiment conducted supports Bizzozero s 1894 article which illustrates that based on where the cells
originate from, the cell proliferation will differ.
References
This experiment supports Bizzozero s (1894) claims of there being three different groups of tissues,
based on its proliferation rate. Bizzozero G (1894) British Medical Journal i (728 732.

Examples Of Self Preservation In Rashomon
In Akira Kurosawa s Japanese murder mystery film, Rashomon, Akira tells the story of a slaughtered
samurai. The story of the murder is revealed four times to a judge, each by a different person who
witnessed the crime. Each of the stories contradicts the previous. Each of the stories has a constant of
rape, murder, and the use of a dagger as the murder weapon, but each story depicts differing methods
and motives. The stories seem equally plausible and the film does not disclose which of the characters
is telling the truth. Each of the characters has their own agenda and a reputation to protect. In this
case, all four stories were fabricated to protect the characters reputations. Especially in the era where
this film takes place, reputation meant everything. All living things are susceptible ... Show more

He claims to have tricked the samurai to step off the mountain trail with him and look at an arsenal of
ancient swords he had found. He then ties the samurai to the tree and returns to capture the samurai s
wife, giving the impression that Tajomaru is sly and shrewd. In Tajomaru s version of the story, he
entices the woman making it seem as if the woman falls in love with him. This however, is
contradicted by the other stories where it is said that Tajomaru forced himself onto the woman. Out of
honor and respect, Tajomaru frees the samurai and they begin to duel for the woman s love. Tajomaru
tells of a valorous and honorable sword battle that ensued between the two, whereas the story of the
woodcutter states that the duel was clumsy and that Tajomaru took a cheap shot at the samurai, which
ultimately ended his life. He tells this embellished, spectacular story of a damsel in distress, how he is

While unpacking all of my fresh produce into the fridge I was delighted by the variety of color in
things that are not processed. After unpacking I put my tea kettle on the stove and readied my cup as
usual with the exception of my precious milk. Milk is one thing I am yearning for in all of this. The
milk I have does not have any label that defines it as Kosher. Naked tea is so drab but I will dredge on
in the hopes to find the meaning in all of this. At the end of day one my body feels quite good while I
do not have any craving for meat. I also went without bread and cheese today, sufficing on only fruits
and vegetables. I understand that a regular Jewish meal starts with breaking bread. Tomorrow I am
going to buy materials to make home made bread. Although Jewish people that follow this diet do not
eat many grains on Passover, they do eat breads regualarly year round. I am including bread in my
diet, but in small portions so that I can still see a change in my diet and my

Rhetorical Analysis Mlk Letter from Birmingham Jail Essay
Martin Luther King s inspiration for writing his, Letter from Birmingham Jail was mainly to appeal to
an undeniable injustice that occurred during his time. His letter was in response tos eight white
clergymen, who objected to King protesting in Birmingham. Dr. King effectively crafted his
counterargument after analyzing the clergymen s unjust proposals and then he was able to present his
rebuttal. Dr. King effectively formed his counterargument by first directly addressing his audience, the
clergymen and then using logos, pathos and egos to present his own perspective on his opponent s
statements. The majority of the sentences in King s letter can be connected to logos, pathos or ethos
and his incorporation of appeals is masterful. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some of his examples are well known such as Hitler while others were not as popular. This appeals to
ethos because it demonstrates King s palate for quality education, proving his credibility. I began
thinking about the fact that I stand in the middle of two opposing forces in the Negro community. One
is a force of complacency, made up in part of Negroes who, as a result of long years of oppression, are
so drained of self respect and a sense of somebodiness that they have adjusted to segregation; and in
part of a few middle class Negroes who, because of a degree of academic and economic security and
because in some ways they profit by segregation, have become insensitive to the problems of the
masses. The other force is one of bitterness and hatred, and it comes perilously close to advocating
violence. It is expressed in the various black nationalist groups that are springing up across the nation,
the largest and best known being Elijah Muhammad s Muslim movement. Nourished by the Negro s
frustration over the continued existence of racial discrimination, this movement is made up of people
who have lost faith in America, who have absolutely repudiated Christianity, and who have concluded
that the white man is an incorrigible devil . In this passage, King s presentation of logos is genius. He
effectively shows the clergymen two sides of the community, the one of complacency and the other of
hatred and cynicism. In this excerpt he does not attempt

Risk Management Within The Homeland Security Enterprise
Risk Management within the Homeland Security Enterprise Risk has been defined as the likelihood of
a specific outcome and the results or consequences of that specific outcome (Masse, O Neil, Rollins,
2007). Risk is inherent to every facet of life. There are risks involved in the mundane of driving down
the road or walking on a sidewalk. Certain factors are added which increases the risk of conducting
these mundane tasks. For example, driving at a high rate of speed during a rain storm exponentially
increases the risk that one will lose control of the vehicle and probably wreck. Assessing and
managing risk is also a part of everyday life though most people do not realize that they are actually
using these tools to mitigate risks. In the previous example, one would assess the risks of travelling at
a high rate of speed during a rainstorm and manage that risk by slowing down to a rate of speed that is
commensorate with effects of the rainstorm in order to avoid hydroplaning. Thus, the risks have been
mitigated and the probability of losing control of the vehicle is significantly decreased or eliminated.
The principals of identifying risks, assessing risks, and managing risks are used throughout the
homeland security enterprise to mitigate risks posed to the public, critical infrastructure, and
ultimately national security. According to the Department of Homeland Security s (DHS) (2010)
Quadreannial Homeland Security Review Report, homeland security is about

  • 2. Emergency Department Bottleneck Proposal Essay example Emergency Department Bottleneck Proposal Middletown Hospital is a 200 bed, not for profit general hospital that has an emergency department with 20 emergency beds. The emergency department handles on an average 100 patients per day. The hospital s CEO has authorized the Six Sigma Team (SST) to address complaints received from patients seeking treatment between 6:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. The complaints are centered on waiting times and poor service. During this time the data indicates that approximately 70% of the department s admissions occur (University of Phoenix, 2009, Course Syllabus). To address these complaints and improve performance of the emergency department the Six Sigma Team must understand process improvement proposals. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Data collection can be subdivided into three categories with service type, department, and floor. This collection of data is valuable tool that managers need to have in order to understand the flow of business within each department. With the collection of data it will allow managers to calculate the volumes of patients during specific times. The SST will require data collected from all computers used to monitor access to the admission system. Additional data will have specific times at which the patient reported to various stations of treatment, and when the patient was discharged. A multivariate trend forecasting method will be more appropriate in this setting; the use of multiple variables about the item being forecasted allows seasons and cycles to be combined with other variables and improve forecast accuracy (Langabeer, 2008). This will give operation managers better forecasting abilities as they will be able to see trends. Finally, the SST will need to analyze the amount of resources or assets available to serve demand (Langabeer, 2008). Quantitative data needed to measure capacity will include: the number of available beds and treatment rooms, the number of key providers and other staff available at each point of care between 6:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m., and availability of key medical technologies and equipment. Examples of key medical equipment are diagnostic imaging, X ray and laboratory equipment. Methods to Analyze The first step in analyzing the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Differences Between Dementia And Alzheimer s Disease When a lot of people think about dementia or Alzheimer s disease, they usually use the two interchangeably and think they have to do with memory. It is true that they have to do with memory, but there are major differences between dementia and Alzheimer s disease. Misconceptions and lack of knowledge can lead to death or injury, which is why initiatives like Healthy People 2020 are so important. Dementias and Alzheimer s affect a person s daily life in many ways and it can be dangerous or deadly if not diagnosed and dealt with properly. It is important that there is an increase in people and their caregivers who are aware of the diagnosis and a decrease in preventable hospitalizations. Before explaining why this initiative is so important, it is necessary to explain the differences between dementia and Alzheimer s disease. Dementia is actually not a disease. It s a bunch of symptoms and is seen more as an umbrella term ( ). It is generally used to describe the loss or decline of cognitive functioning to the point where it affects the person s daily life. Dementia occurs in people who have diseases such as ( ). It is generally seen as an elder problem that develops as someone ages, but this is not necessarily true. Most people who have dementia or Alzheimer s are 65 or older, but there is a type of dementia that affects younger people. This type is called Early Onset Dementia (EOD) that affects people under 65 years, while 65 years and older would be Late Onset Dementia ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Music Is The Most Popular Music According to Oxford s dictionary, music is the vocal or instrumental sounds (or both) combined in such a way as to produce beauty of form harmony, and expression of emotion. Music has been around for a very long time. Music has been an influenced since the beginning of time from the beats and rhythm to just make a nice flow of a song. Music history is sometimes a historical viewpoint in society. Besides, music is breaking down into five main categories: Jazz, Classical, Rhythm and Blues, Pop, Rap, and Country. But, Rap music is the most popular music in today s society. In addition, being that Rap music is popular, Rap music is also the most corrupted music now a day. So, how does music influences positive and negative effects on people and society? Although, music has been around for several years, there are so many differences and similarities in music; for instance, all music can be related by old music that was made, or there is new music that is originated. The differences in music is the many genres and its effects on people and the society. The cost of albums from the 1960 s to today s music are much higher. Another difference in music is back in the 1960 s talent was a part of music, but in today s music all you need is auto tunes. The similarities are that all music is alike in some way. • 6. The Old Private Pension System The old private pension system was created in the 1920 s and expanded throughout the 30 s and 40 s (McDonnell). Private pensions were considered one of the three income sources for retired elderly. Originally, private pensions had defined benefits. The employer and employee would agree to a percentage of salary that the employee would receive from the company annually during retirement. Contractually obligated, this placed the liability onto the employer. Estimates say that employees could receive around 40% of their last year s salary as annual income with defined benefits. In the 1990 s, the pension plans gradually changed from defined benefits to defined contribution. The employees, rather than negotiating retirement salary now determine the amount of their salary that will be saved in a retirement fund. Retirement income is a burden on the employee rather than employer (Ghilarducci 8). In order to equal the income of the old plans, employees give their retirement savings to mutual funds that invest in the stock market. While a key aspect of retirement, the system has evolved like most economic institutions, favoring the wealthy and established. Furthermore, the private pension system contributes to a market bubble, putting money into the stock market regardless of market strength. These two problems cause the modern pension system to be flawed and unstable. The program must undergo drastic reform in order to save private pensions. It is evident that the current pension ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This goes to show that even the most powerful countries are also dependent international institutions and multilateral cooperation to gain more benefits that it could offer. There are some recent research on international institutions that questions legalism and law as well as their effectiveness with or without regards to political realm. Scholars, few of them, had assumptions about realism, thus, accepting that relevance of state power as well are arguing interests about world politics. Some theorists draw conclusions on the influence of international institutions while recognizing the preferences of states for private rights just avoiding full transparency. Since their states that are not really certain about their partners and had some trust issues in the past, multilateral cooperation has some functional hindrances. International institutions can counter this uncertainty by means of encouraging negotiations and transparency. Past issues can be regarded with more open analyzation while promoting honesty and preserving good relationship with one another. Thinking about the normative implications of globalization, focus on the maintenance of effective democratic approach in each society is one way of the establishing formal structures of international regimes. Well, back in the 1600s, in London, you could buy your way into a theater for as little as one penny. This price made it easy for anyone of any class to be able to partake in the festivities. Hence, the reason the theaters became so popular from 1562 to 1642. The theatres were very profitable based on the fact they were so popular in the community. The pit is where you would find most of the lower class people at, such as the commoners. The theaters were popular for lower class people because it was affordable for them. There were other amenities that were lacking for the theaters. Almost all the lighting for the theater was natural light. This meant that most plays would have to be show during the daytime. The theaters did not have heating either. In the winter months they would have to shut the theater down and be transferred to indoor playhouses. This actually helped boost popularity because it gave the people something to do during the cold winter months since it was inside. There were no microphones or soundboards to be able to hear so actors had to speak loudly and clearly. Unfortunately, there were also no toilets at the theater. But there were no toilets and the floor they stood on was probably just sand, ash or covered in nutshells (Shakespeare Globe Education). During the summer hours when it would become real hot the pit would be called the stinkards. The theater gained popularity based on the plays they would have showing. In most cases the plays would consist of humor, tragedy, or histories. • 12. Compare And Contrast Theseus And Oedipus While I was analyzing the two Greek heroes Theseus and Oedipus origins, it became obvious that they share quite a few differences and similarities as is common amongst heroes in Greek mythology. The first similarity I found the two heroes shared was the love and honor their subjects regarded their kings with. Theseus was revered for his strategic planning and how he used his power to create an equal ruling between the power of the king and his people. He was acknowledged as one of the first leaders to create a Democracy, allowing his people to have a say into how the kingdom is ruled. I myself, will be your leader in wars, and at all times the protector of laws, but beyond this all my fellow citizens shall have equal rights with me (216). By allowing the inhabitants of Attica to access part of the power of the king, Theseus knew that his subjects would abide by this ruling because of the value and gain they would receive from becoming a united community. I feel this peaceful treaty between the two dynamics; the rich and the poor shows that Theseus was an intelligent and courageous king worthy of the equal amounts of love and fear the king instilled in the city of Athens. The way Theseus resolved the issue between the two class systems leads me to believe that Theseus admirers rigid structure and control but since he is willing to give some of his power to the citizens of Athens in order to keep peace, he became known as a peaceful ruler instead of a forceful tyrant. ... Saint John raises his arm, with a scroll bearing the first few words of the phrase ECCE. AGNVS DEI QVI TOLLIT PECCATUM MONDI (Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world). In this artwork, we are not able to see the whole phrase but several letters among them, but it is definitely presenting the same words. The pleasure on Saint John s face while looking at the scroll foretells his devotion in the future as a Baptist. An angel standing next to the Virgin looks at the Child Jesus, who looks over his shoulder. The caring face of the angel indicates Jesus s sacrifice is praised not only by the common people, but holy figures. The background is mainly dark grey, makes the figures at the front to stand out. Personally, I think the painting is aesthetically attractive because of the special style of the artist. Realistic are the faces of the figures, which look like real human with beauty appearance, and their bodies. Simple sugars are known as monosaccharides whereas complex sugars are polysaccharides because they are made up of monosaccharides through dehydration reactions. A dehydration reaction occurs when a water molecule is removed from the reacting molecule and the two molecules become covalently bonded. Glucose and fructose are monosaccharides whereas, maltose, sucralose, starch, saccharin, and lactose are polysaccharides. Truvia is the only sugar that is not either a monosaccharide or a polysaccharide. All monosaccharides and polysaccharides are composed of some multiple of CH2O. The yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae was used for determining the fermentation of various sugars because it is convenient to use and ferments quickly. Throughout the experiment, the only factor that wasn t constant was the sugars used in the fermentation process. Based on this, it was hypothesized that there would be differences in yeast fermentation of sugars. Methods 2g of yeast, 2g of glucose, and 100 mL of distilled water at 40°C were combined in a 250 mL flask. A stir bar was placed in the flask. After the flask was gently stirred, the flask was placed on the stir plate. Then, the stir setting was turned up to 8 slowly and stirred for two minutes. The de emphasis of the returning 3 as a passing tone from 4 to 2 lends importance to the incomplete upper neighbor A, supported by IV. This self contained tonal area stretches over half of the Preludio. A reprise of an opening passage at the initiation of the A prolongation gestures its independence from its surrounding, indeed a smaller organism enveloped within the larger animal. This is evident through the internal auxiliary cadence to A that accompanies the tonal area IV. In retrospect, the IV is already a long term goal from the beginning. The first 58 measures properly set the stage for the emergence of IV. The first step on the path to IV is the movement to VI as a short term goal. This is done by first moving to G# (m.39) through F# (m.37), creating a third progression E F# G# in the process. The G# is employed first in the top voice as primary tone and then in the bass as pedal point, also the fifth to the incoming C# (m.51) [FIG 4. EX. 1]. The C#, in a sense, is a midway stopping point from E major on its way to A major. A# in measure 53 leads to B, creating yet another third progression G# A# B. The B is to be read not as V of E but as II of A, unfolding to tonic through two consecutive fifths B E A [EX.2]. As we shall see, the contour of the bass forecasts what is to come; additionally this prelude within the Preludio presents the material for further elaboration and development. An Examination Of Post Event Information ( Pei ) Another form of Post event information (PEI) is conformity, in the event that an individual witnesses a crime committed there is always the potential that there are co witnesses that also witnessed the crime, while an increase in witnesses may hold some positives there is the potential for conformity. Conformity takes place when one witnesses memories of a past event become more like another person s described memories of the same event (Kieckhaefer, J.M. Wright, D.B., 2015, pg. 462). Co witnesses often alter their memory reports to coincide with other witnesses reports (Goodwin K.A. et al., 2013, pg. 91). If a co witness is a friend or family then an individual is even more likely to conform to their views than they would be if the co witness was a stranger. Kieckhaefer and Wright also found evidence that another factor that increases a witnesses memory conformity is if the co witness is likable(Kieckhaefer, J.M. Wright, D.B., 2015, pg. 463). There have been multiple studies conducted where researchers use confederates, research helpers used to feed unknowing participants information, to determine whether or not participants will conform to the confederate s reports (Goodwin, K.A. et al., 2013, pg. 91). Furthermore, witnesses are more likely to alter their views when they are motivated to avoid deviating from the group. Bizzozero Staining Procedure An experiment Evaluating whether PCNA supports the classification of Bizzozero (1894) tissues tissues placed in three categories, reflecting their replicative potential. Introduction The aim of this experiment was to utilise PCNA and staining procedures to determine whether different tissue cell samples proliferate. Tissue which exhibited brown stains prove cell proliferation and mitotic divisions, this would suggest it being the in the first group of Bizzozero s grouping of tissue types. Tissue samples which showed no brown staining meant no cells had proliferated and therefore were of a different tissue type that do not regenerate while present in the body. The PCNA protein is present during cell division/mitosis therefore, its presence suggests that cell proliferation is occurring or has occurred. An area can be stained using brown diaminobenzidine (DAB) by using an antibody that is against the PCNA protein. Dr. King effectively formed his counterargument by first directly addressing his audience, the clergymen and then using logos, pathos and egos to present his own perspective on his opponent s statements. • 34. Risk Management Within The Homeland Security Enterprise Risk Management within the Homeland Security Enterprise Risk has been defined as the likelihood of a specific outcome and the results or consequences of that specific outcome (Masse, O Neil, Rollins, 2007). Risk is inherent to every facet of life. There are risks involved in the mundane of driving down the road or walking on a sidewalk. Certain factors are added which increases the risk of conducting these mundane tasks. For example, driving at a high rate of speed during a rain storm exponentially increases the risk that one will lose control of the vehicle and probably wreck. Assessing and managing risk is also a part of everyday life though most people do not realize that they are actually using these tools to mitigate risks. In the previous example, one would assess the risks of travelling at a high rate of speed during a rainstorm and manage that risk by slowing down to a rate of speed that is commensorate with effects of the rainstorm in order to avoid hydroplaning. Thus, the risks have been mitigated and the probability of losing control of the vehicle is significantly decreased or eliminated. The principals of identifying risks, assessing risks, and managing risks are used throughout the homeland security enterprise to mitigate risks posed to the public, critical infrastructure, and ultimately national security.
