Allegory Of The Cave Essay
Crafting an essay on the topic of the "Allegory of the Cave" can prove to be both intellectually
stimulating and challenging. This philosophical allegory, presented by Plato in his work "The
Republic," delves into complex ideas about perception, reality, and the journey of self-discovery.
As an essayist, you would need to navigate through the intricate layers of Plato's allegory,
unraveling its metaphors and exploring the profound implications it has on human understanding.
One of the primary difficulties lies in grasping the nuanced concepts embedded in the allegory
itself. Plato's allegory is a symbolic representation of the journey from ignorance to
enlightenment, and translating these abstract ideas into coherent and accessible language requires
a careful and thoughtful approach. Moreover, conveying the philosophical depth of the allegory
demands a thorough understanding of Plato's broader philosophical framework.
Furthermore, the essay should not merely be a summary of the allegory but must also engage
critically with the ideas presented. Analyzing the implications of the allegory on contemporary
thought or connecting it to real-world examples requires a keen analytical mind. Drawing
connections between the allegory and other philosophical concepts may add another layer of
complexity to the task.
Additionally, the challenge extends to structuring the essay effectively. Balancing the
exploration of the allegory's key elements, providing relevant context, and presenting a cohesive
argument can be demanding. Ensuring that the essay flows logically, with each paragraph
building upon the previous one, is essential for a comprehensive and persuasive exploration of
the topic.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the "Allegory of the Cave" necessitates a blend of
philosophical acumen, critical thinking, and effective communication skills. Successfully
navigating through the intricacies of Plato's allegory while offering insightful analysis requires
dedication and a genuine passion for philosophical exploration.

Madoff s The Great Ponzi Scheme
Mr. Madoff s crimes were extraordinarily evil. The breach of trust was massive. I
simply do not get the sense that Mr. Madoff has done all that he could or told all
that he knows. These are all quotes given by the US district attorney Denny Chin
that give a mere glimpse into the horrible impact that Bernie Madoff has had on
21st century American society. Madoff cheated investors worldwide in the biggest
Ponzi scheme in American history stealing over sixty five billion dollars from his
clients .His enormous ponzi scheme was essentially evil genius and because of this
incredible con Madoff has become the face of fraud in the 21st century and someone
who exemplifies the dark side of wall street. This is shown through the incredible...

So when Charles ponzi found a way to make profit by buying coupons from other

investors around 50 percent in 50 90 days. However eventually he was caught and
was sentenced to 14 years in prison after owing 7 million dollars adjusted for

ponzi and used a similar hook; both madoff and ponzi would use their immense
charm and use of diction stressing words that would intrigue the customer while
being patient and exclusive . An example of their prowess would be if you decided
to go to a part and you meet Madoff who suddenly has taken a liking to you. To him,

Cultural Observation Essay
Observation: October 7th, 2011 oak court Mall 2:45pm to 4:15pm I walked into
the Oak Court Mall from the second level entrance to observe the young people of
today. As I entered the mall, my first thought was that watching young people
surely could not generate an entire three to five page report. You see, I have never
taken an interest in watching people that I did not have any direct contact with. I
took the escalator down to the first level and I ordered some Chinese food and a
lemonade drink. I found an empty table and proceeded to let the observation begin.
Much to my surprise, I began to pay close attention to a group of very young white
kids at a table about three rows up from where I was sitting. The first thing... Show

Response: It is a very rainy night tonight and I am immediately aware that the rain
has not stopped the flow of people within the mall. There are people continually
walking in with raincoats and umbrellas dripping. As I look around, I realize that
the three groups I observed last week are probably not here tonight. I honestly
think I would recognize them due to how much they stood out to me on my last
visit. It did not take long before I was hit with that same sense of sadness I
experienced last Saturday. All of the young kids and some of the adults gave me
the impression of a desire for attention. Everyone wanted to be noticed in some
way which was obvious by the clothes and accessories they all wore. I even saw a
few mothers whose clothing was not any different from their teenage daughters.
The girls I see here this evening are young teens who are wearing too much
makeup trying to be seen by the young boys who are wearing expensive sneakers
and saggy pants down around their buttocks. A few of the girls I see are young
mothers pushing baby strollers and conversing about the latest fashion. One young
girl I see is pushing a newborn in a stroller while yelling at another toddler about
two years old. She is trying hard to act as though it is not bothering her to have two
young kids all alone but it is apparent that she is has gotten into something much
more than what she bargained for. By the way, did I mention there was no father in
Seamus Heaney Blackberry-Picking Essay
Seamus Heaney s poem Blackberry Picking uses very compelling word choice. There
are many things I noticed within it that are interesting.
First, Heaney uses first person plural pronouns for most of the poem, implying that
there was another person picking berries with the narrator. We trekked... , ...our
boots. , Our hands... , he uses these pronouns a lot, so it is obvious the narrator
wasn t alone. This may be an important, easily overlooked clue to the theme of the
poem. The lesson of the poem is, stated loosely, the best things in life don t last
forever, and this second character may have to do something with that. Almost all
references to this second character appear in the first stanza. The second stanza has
only one brief mention of another person right at the beginning of the line with We
hoarded the fresh berries in the byre. This is the last time Heaney mentions this
second person. Immediately after this line, the mood of the poem shifts to a more
melancholy, sad tone. One possibility is could be that the narrator loved this second
person (the happy, playful tone in the first ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The poem doesn t seem odd at first, but by looking at the specific words used, it
seems a little off. Heaney uses words like clot , flesh , blood , tongue , lust , hunger ,
on top big dark blobs burned like a plate of eyes , palms sticky as Bluebeard s. These
are awfully odd, unsettling words to use. I wouldn t describe blackberries on a bush
as a glossy purple clot. It is uncomfortable and unsettling to even read. I wouldn t
describe the outside of a berry as flesh , and I wouldn t describe the juice of it as
summer s blood. There has to be some reason that Heaney used this kind of word
choice. At first read the poem sounds beautiful, but the more you read it the more,
almost disgusting it is. It seems like Heaney specifically used unnerving word choice

The Problem of Cyber Bullying
In the past few years, there has been a tremendous amount of improvements of
technology use in teenagers causing a new problem to arise. Half of students admit
to being bullied online, while an estimated seventy nine percent of teenagers say it s
a problem, ( An Old Problem with a New Face ). Since the rapid growth of
technology, cyber bullyinghas become life threatening for too many teenagers. Now
that teenagers have phones and technology almost twenty four hours a day, they are
putting themselves at a greater risk of being cyber bullied. Cyber bullying is
different from regular, old school bullying; cyber bullying is using the internet to ruin
the life of other teenagers. Cyber bulling is when a teenager is tormented, threatened,

As for the teenagers being cyber bullied, and the ones performing the
cyberbullying, there are many different ways to handle the situation. For those
who are being cyber bullied or harassed they can block the person performing the
bullying. If the cyber bully has contact information with the teen, they can ignore
messages without reading them. In today s social media, the person being bullied
can report to the social media workers rude comments, inappropriate pictures, and
just bullying itself. Then the comments will be taken down. Lastly, someone who
is getting bullied needs to speak with a parent, a teacher, or even a friend about the
bullying. As for the teenagers who are witnessing the cyberbullying, that teenager
needs to tell them to stop what they re doing because jail is a penalty for
cyberbullying. That child could also get caught by the school and get expelled
depending on how serious the case of cyberbullying has become. The punishment
for cyber bullies can include being suspended from school or kicked off of sports
teams. Certain types of cyber bullying also may violate school codes or even
discrimination or sexual harassment laws ( Kids Health ). In addition to jail being an
option, teenagers can result to taking their own lives. So additionally going to jail, the
cyber bully could be the reason behind another
Zolpidem Research Paper
Zolpidem is a short term medicinal treatment for insomnia that can be prescribed
and is effective in initiating sleep in the consumer (Verster et al., 2002). It also
appears to offer a temporary but effective relief of symptoms of aphasia, a
collective term for a range of language disorders present in some survivors of
strokes, and current research is implying that its presence in the body may bring
consciousness to people in vegetative states (Interlandi, 2011). However, there are
several negative effects such as uncomfortable side effects, withdrawal symptoms if
dependency on the drug occurs, dangerously impaired driving ability the day after
dosage and it is an effective, legal and easily obtainable date rape drug (Monti et al.,

The confusion stems from its paradoxical effect of being a hypnotic sedative in
people with normal brain functions yet can increase speech ability in patients
recovering from severe brain trauma, which seems contrary (Clauss and Nel, 2006).
In a specific test patient, Hall et al. (2009) reported that the technology used to
measure effectiveness of treatment with zolpidem demonstrated high amplitude theta
and beta oscillations thin the peri infarct region reducing in activity, improving
cognitive and motor function. In another patient who suffered a stroke three years
prior, the first prescribed dosage of 10mg of zolpidem caused a dramatic
improvement in her speech, an improvement which relapsed the following morning
until the next dosage of zolpidem was taken (Engl and Med, 2004). Whyte and Myers
(2009) describe that zolpidem is also being studied to determine whether it has the
ability to improve responsiveness or regional cerebral perfusion in patients in
vegetative states. It has been reported to restore, albeit temporarily, consciousness to
such patients and repeated dosage maintains consciousness (Interlandi,

Mood is a temporary state of mind or feeling. All of us have different moods, based
off the events occurring around us. Similarly, in all stories, author s create a mood to
enhance the storyline of the presented text, and make readers feel something. The
story The Black Cat , by Edgar Allen Poe exhibits a suspenseful mood, whereas the
story Love and Centipedes by Paul Zindel has a vengeful mood throughout.
Throughout the two stories, the authors develop the moods through symbolism and

Disadvantages Of Plastics
Picture this; over one trillion plastic bags are used every year worldwide. Plastic is
not biodegradable so for each bag it takes one thousand years to degrade or totally
break down. Since plastic was first produced in 1907, humans have generated 8.3
billion metric tons plastic products, that is equivalent to 25,000 empire state buildings
or 80 billion blue whales. Plastics have outlasted most man made materials and have
been under environmental scrutiny for quite some time. Although plasticwas once
regarded as convenient and versatile, it has become one of the biggest environmental
problems of our time; different types of plastic can take anywhere from one to one
thousand years to decompose, it is time for this generation to put the work in on
biodegradable alternatives to plastic.
Why won t plastic break down? Sid Perkins, a ten year vet with Science News
Magazine reports, Plastics are a type of polymer, a class of materials that gets its
name from the Greek words for many parts. Researchers create polymers by
chemically stringing together large numbers of simple carbon based units called
monomers ( single parts ). The near endless variety of plastics stems from the
diversity of monomers, esters, amides and imides, to name a few, and the degree of
linkage that exists between polymer chains: In general, the more bonds there are,
the stiffer the plastic (Perkins 34 37). . Products that are easily biodegradable

Descriptive Essay About My Hair
I m the girl that refuses to put herself out there out of fear of rejection. The only
thing about me that is out there is my hair that is a screaming light blue. I do this to
put my opinion out into the world without talking. This however brings unwanted
attention to me. My hair makes people stare. Some think that it s cool and they
complement me but others have look down on me because of it. Even my own
family has made comments putting me down about my hair. One time, for example,
my Aunt Darcie came up to me during a family party and started talking to me about
my hair. You are dying your hair for senior pictures, right? You don t honestly want
that hanging up on your mom s wall forever, do you?
My cheeks were beat red and I was so embarrassed but I told her that I wasn t going
to. I kept my hair blue just for my senior pictures just to show my Aunt I liked my
hair and didn t want it some normal color.
I try my best to blend in. I m quiet as I sit in the back of the classroom and observe
my peers as they talk and be open with each other; a habit that I have yet to shake
through my many years of school. My palms sweat when attention is brought to me.
I replay everything I say over and over looking for any flaw in the words that come
out of my mouth. This action keeps me up late at night picking a prodding at my
memories and the mistakes I have made. Anxiety is my unwanted security blanket
that constricts my everyday life. It makes even the simplest tasks difficult.
Each day anxiety wraps its cold boney arms around me squeezing until it hurts. I
have had anxiety since the day I could remember. It makes even the simplest of
tasks hard. I can barely form sentences in situations because of it. I try my hardest
to avoid contact with people. I will not raise my hand in class out of fear of saying
the wrong answer, partner projects terrify and public speaking forget about it. There
s times that I know the right answer but I don t want to speak up because of the
attention. Like in high school I was really good at history and in my sophomore year I
knew almost every question answered but I refused to even raise my hand.
My anxiety has also made it very hard to make friends. I guess being afraid to talk to
I Am A Liberal Conservative Is More Open Minded Than
Some...
I am a Liberal. A Liberal is more open minded than some other political ideologies.
They believe we should all be equal and have the same opportunities in life. The
government should help us so we can all be financially stable. Things like health
care and food stamps are important because the government should help all of us,
if we cannot do that for ourselves. Although liberals want help from the government
they don t believe they should control what we do in our personal lives. They are
very big advocators for women s rights for this reason. Focusing on actual
government, a big belief is that federal government should have more say over
citizens instead of letting state government have control over what we do. Along
with having laws they believe more laws will help us. It is a way to keep people in
line and provide equal opportunity for everyone. I identify as a liberalbut I don t hold
all the same beliefs as the typical liberals. I come from a big Hispanic Catholic
family; I am one of five children. Growing up I would stay with my grandmother
most weekends because my house was always so hectic. I obviously was taken to
church every Sunday with her, where we would meet with the rest of my family. I
would attend my Communion classes before we went to mass. I remember my
teachers always telling us how loving and accepting God is. We would sing and
color all through class, everything just seemed perfect. When the priest would preach
during mass he would say how forgiving
Commentary On The Song Humble And Kind By Tim
Mcgraw
Humble and Kind In today s midst of commotion, many of us seem to forget to
stop, take a breath, and consider the moments that escape our everyday lives. A
result of this includes memories fading due to our hectic schedules. Soon we find
ourselves alone with no one to share our success with. Friends become people
whom you pass by in the shopping mall, or have stalked their pages on social media
and accustom yourself to saying you developed a friendship. Familyevents become a
time to connect with others solely through a reunion once a year. These examples
are few and far between the habitual factors each of us display day in and day out.
It is necessary to set aside an hour of your day to take action and become humble and
kind. Many... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I think that he sends a message to an abundance of people in the song. He stresses
his concerns to a wide variety of audiences, in that we all forget to take a moment
to consider other s feelings and make a difference. A stanza in particular that shows
this is: hold the door, say please, say thank you/ don t steal, don t cheat, and don t
lie/ I know you got mountains to climb but/ always stay humble and kind. In my
opinion, he speaks the truth and lectures that you must hold on to your morals. I
have noticed that many people forget or are too careless to think about others.
Simply holding a door for someone as they walk out, or saying thank you for a
generous act goes a long way. I know I try to make someone s day any chance I
can, I just wish others would put this into mind as well. It reminds us of the
important life lessons and unwritten rules. The song also stresses that although you
may have priorities, don t let those blind you from taking time to focus on others
such as your lifelong friends or family. I have been a victim, as well as been guilty of
participating in these actions. We all become so wrapped up in ourselves.
Sometimes we forget how lucky we are to have been given the friends and family we
rely on each
The City Of Florence First Place For A Movement Essay
Gathering of people form village, villages become town and it grows to become a
city. For centuries, city has acted as the centre for social, political changes since the
dawn of history, especially after Renaissance, where the city of Florence first
demonstrate the power of individual can be attracted to one location and become an
iconic place for a movement. Since then, cityhas become the birthplace for many
movement socially, economically or politically, where against or comfort to
oppression, resistance of any kind, or leading revolution that changed the way of
life around the world. To investigate the reasons behind this relations, events
throughout were being explored. The end of seignorialism forces people to move to
city for employment opportunity and therefore provided labour force for mass
labour and industrial revolution escalated the pace of urbanization. People forms
city, and each individual has their own opinion, therefore city is a place where the
idea clashed and the new ideology formed everyday, this is why city is the source of
change. Since renaissance, the proportion of populationdwelling in urban area has
been ever increasing, therefore in the city information transfers faster, and there is a
higher chance for people to rise up in the city than the country side, due to the
proximity. Some movements strengthen the role of the city and create a new way of
life such as Renaissance and industrial revolution, where it is taken in a non violent

An Analysis of Tipping Point by Malcolm Gladwell
The Tipping Point by Malcolm Gladwell is all about social epidemics and the
moment when they take off, when the reach their critical point as well as the theory
that ideas and products and messages and behaviors spread just like viruses do . In
this book, Gladwell attempts to give a thorough analysis and commentary to prove
through different trends and scientific studies the conclusions he makes during the
novel. Gladwell s main purpose in the novel is to use pop culture references and
relatable anecdotes to educate the general public on the complexities of the theories
he presents throughout the novel. The Tipping point is not only a sociologically rich
text, but also a scientific, comprehensive examination of the social epidemics around
us
Malcolm Gladwell is the bestselling author of nonfiction books about sociology,
with all of his five books published on The New York Times Best Seller list , all
receiving high acclaim and press. Before he wrote his first book, The Tipping
Point, Gladwell was a journalist for the Washington Post from 1987 until 1996. He
followed his time there with working for The New Yorker, where he currently
continues to write. As the demand for his unorthodox writing style and books rose,
so did the demand for his public speaking on topics related to his books.Since that
time, Mr. Gladwell has received 2 honorary degrees, as well as
Media Impact On Social Media
Social network sites lie at the locus of our contemporary digital media ecosystem.
They capture a substantial share of our time and daily media attention, having
seemingly colonised our everyday life. They are frequently at the forefront of news
and popular culture content. They appear to have transfigured nearly every aspect of
our sociality. And they have certainly inspired a great number of folk theories about
their effects on society. In fact, the use of SNSs now constitutes the most popular
Internet activity in many counties, including the UK.
Research studies have proffered many different views of the effects of SNSs on
society. Some scholars have described SNSs as a transformative force that has come
to dominate the zeitgeist of a generation, spawning new communities, where there
were once just distributed individuals. Others have depicted SNSs as a risky
technology that has blurred the boundaries of the private sphere, frequently and
inadvertently exposing personal data to unintended audiences.
As such, writing a thesis on social media choice and commitment in a time when
society and mass media appears to be oversaturated with SNSs was no easy task. On
the one hand, any research findings are bound to be instantly compared to hardwired
conventional wisdom and popular beliefs, which are oftentimes inaccurate since they
are not backed up by any empirical evidence. On the other hand, the rapid
technological change of social media makes research in this area a moving
Nursing Home With Stage IIi Lymphoma
I grew up on a farm that was half an hour from town. We never went to the
emergency room. We never went to the doctor. We learned to patch ourselves up
with whatever we had, so I had never even seen a nurse in action until I was sixteen
and my Grandmother was in a nursing home with stage III Lymphoma. The nursing
home was near where I worked and so at lunch time a couple times of week I
would go and read to her. At the time, I didn t focus on the wonderful people taking
care of her, however I remember friends and family coming to see my Grandmother
and they would talk very loudly to her and some times she wouldn t even respond.
Whereas, I and the nurses could sit right next to her bed and in a normal voice
have a conversation with her and she never had trouble hearing us. During these
discussions she would express to the nurses how wonderful they were and what a
noble thing they were doing by helping take care of people in need. She always told
me that the two most important professions were nurses and teachers. This
experience taught me that my most important goal is to always treat people as a
whole person not just a disease or condition. To take the time to listen and understand
what they are need. My second goal is to learn something new everyday to make
myself a successful nurse. Third, I want to continue to help and serve the community
by continuing to create and implement centers of excellence in contact allergies and
urticaria.
It is my belief that

As a quickly growing global manufacturing company, we are facing various and
potential opportunities and challenges within the global market. Manufacturing
remains a crucial position of accelerating economics in both developing and
developed counties. The 2007 financial recession choked off the demand and
numerous workers transferred to service industry. Due to the variable costs and
capital loss, the majority of the business are occupied by the first tier of
manufacturing nations. Recently, Donald Trump was elected as the president of the
United States. Our society will encounter some turbulence from different aspects
when he executes his proposals. The decisions he made on both financial field and

Fibromyalgia, the condition that has baffled the medical community since being
identified, is beginning to step into the light. The condition is characterized by
fatigue, musculoskeletal pain, mood issues, sleep disturbance and, sometimes,
memory issues. The pain and fatigue of fibromyalgia are often spread throughout the
whole body, complicating efforts to locate a source.
People with fibromyalgia experience muscular pain, often in the form of a constant
or semi constant ache, both above and below the waist. There are 18 identified
points on the body, named tender points, that hurt when pressure is applied to them
if you have fibromyalgia. Some of these tender points are found on the back of the
head, the upper chest, the tops and sides of the hips, the inner knee and between the
shoulder blades. Fatigue, sleep disorders, depression, headaches and irritable bowel
syndrome often accompany fibromyalgia.
Diagnosing fibromyalgia is generally done by process of elimination. If blood tests
and X rays indicate no
How Does Landscape Reflects Society
I believe this statement to be true that landscapes are reflections of the societies that
create them. I have read and analysed many articles which have clearly reflected this
and a quote by Pierce Lewis which I feel is needed to start off my discussion says
that landscape is something to be looked at, but seldom thought about (Lewis, 1979,
p.1). This statement made me start to really think about landscapeand how we must
look further than what just meets the naked eye. From my readings I have found out
that in order to look at landscape better than we must train our eyes to see things in a
different light and therefore it is vital that we see past the landscape that presents
itself to us. Duffy describes landscape brilliantly by saying that... Show more content

The Temples were developed in the 15th century and were to be later rediscovered
by the French in the 19th century. They are a symbol of Cambodia s glorious past
(Winter, 2007, p133) and the temples also reflect many degrees of heritage as it is
used today for celebrations of the Khmer New Year that last four days and is
revered by Khmers as a deeply symbolic icon of national, ethnic and cultural unity
(Winter, 2007, p133). On average the UNESCO figures reveal that 100,000 to
200,000 people visit the area for the four day celebrations. This shows how
landscapes are reflections of the societies that create them when such large
numbers are coming to celebrate this tradition. In the year 1975 on April 17th a
new party came into Phnom Penh declaring the end of 2000 years of Cambodian
history (Winter, 2007, p138) they were called Pol Pot and brought radical changes
that killed many Cambodians as the slaved away building. This party were all
about taking control and power of the landscape which shows again that landscapes
are reflections of the societies that create them. The Pol Pot removed all freedom of

of the people being oppressed. After what is only two decades the festivities of today
therefore represent a reclaiming of the site...as a populist symbol of history enabling

Analysis Of Glengarry Glen Ross By David Mamet
Everyday people use speech to relay their thoughts and feelings. Some people s jobs
revolve around speaking to others to convince them that they have a better idea for
their investments and that they know what is best for the customer. Such jobs
include those of salesmen. Their sole job is to convince their customers that it is in
their best interest to buy their product that they are trying to sell. The film adaptation
of the play Glengarry Glen Rosswritten by David Mamet, illustrates how salesmen
are able to convince other groups of people that they know what is in the best
interest of their customers by each salesman s particular word choice and speech. In
the movie, the customers are often weak men that are not able to stand up for... Show

their own actions specifically by the way he speaks. At one point, Levene is trying

Coffee s for closers only and Levene listens (Glengarry Glen Ross). Later in the

that they are all fired and the only way to get their job back is by earning it. Blake

points across that he means business. As another example, Roma is also able to
persuade others by weakening them and making them feel as if he is the only one
that can help. Roma is able to get one of his customers, Lingk, to close a deal by
first getting him drunk, and then follows it up by appealing to Lingk s emotions and
being personable. Roma also uses literary devices such as, repetition and rhetorical
questions in order to convince him to buy the property:

Dog Descriptive Essay
Reese is furry, friendly, strong, playful, energetic, loyal, and most of all misjudged.
Reese is a rescue pitbull. Our stories conjoined on a dreary Sunday morning; the
night before it had been storming and the skies remained grey with small rays of
light peeking through. Furthermore, it was that time of day where the sun has been
up for a little while, yet no one is quite fully awake. Drowsily, I watched the trees
and fields pass through the smudged window of the backseat of our family car.
Simultaneously, the sounds from the radio entertained me as we drove down the
interstate, we were on our way home from visiting family in Cincinnati for the Labor
Dayweekend. It was the typical boring car ride everybody sits through up until we all
noticed something. What is that? My mom, brother, and I all thought to ourselves.
Suddenly the question was answered.
Is that a stray dog on the side of the road? My brother questioned aloud.
I believe so. My mom returned.
I pleaded for us to pull over, I wanted to see the sorrowful dogs situation. My mom
relentlessly pulled the car over to the side of the highway and we trotted in the
direction of the lonely dog. My feet squished through the muddy grass and I
wrapped my arms around myself as the breeze came through. As we became closer it
was obvious this dog had been here a while and was in sickening condition. Her fur
was still wet and her fragile frame was quivering. Therefore, we agreed to take her

Impact Of National Industrial Law And Regulation On

How have changes to national industrial law and regulation reshaped industrial
relations in the Botswana public service?
Introduction
The issues of industrial relations come from the early times. Today, these issues form
part of the day to day management activities within private, public and all other types
of organizations. Week in week cases are made at industrial courts that related
employer employee relations matters. The statutory instruments such as industrial
relations laws, dispute acts, public service acts, disciplinary hearing procedures,
processes and standards to manage the conditions of service between the employer

Following the establishment of a new government in 1966, the older laws were
replaced by the Trade Unions Act No. 24 of 1969 and the Trade Dispute Act No.
28 of 1969 as well as the Regulation of Wages and Conditions of Employment Act of
1969. Khama (1972: 14) the existence of Botswana Trade Union Education Centre
will assist greatly in preparing organized labour to perform this role effectively. As it
stands there a number of pieces of legislation set to govern labour relations. The
rights and trade unions and these include: Employment Act 48.01, Trade Unions and
Employers Organizations Act (CAP 48:01), Trade Disputes Act (Cap 48:02),
Workers Compensation Action and Public Service Act of 2008. These pieces labour
relations acts clearly shows that labour issues are part and parcel of humanity and
they are inseparable so long as employer and employee is part of the world order.
During the preindustrial society the Roman Catholic Church did not condemn wealth,
rather taught that the wealthy would care for the less privileged points out Bendix
(2001. p.30). Bendix argue that with the advent of industrialization the concept of
working capital, and thus of capitalism, replaced the notion of private wealth. Today
the difference between capitalism and those who sell labour has not diminished rather
the problem is mounting as the capitalist maximize profits by the day and the
labourers getting poorer.

De Tomaso Pantera the Value Priced Supercar from Ford
Review the Exceptional Value of a 1970s De Tomaso Pantera
Do you know the Italian word for panther? That s right, it s Pantera. And this is a
great place to start. The De Tomaso Pantera that launched in 1971 provided an
Americanized version of an Italian styled supercar.
You didn t have to go to Maranello Italy to get one, because Ford made the car
available at your local Lincoln Mercury dealer. With a sticker price of around
$10,000 in 1971, it s curious that the automobile wasn t a complete success.
Here we ll talk about one of the most misunderstood sports cars from the early 1970s.

Therefore, they would sell the Pantera under the sign of the cat. Just in case you don
t remember, the Lincoln Mercury dealer network used a cougar as a mascot in the
70s. This was a perfect fit with the Italian panther moniker.
Pantera Problems and Solutions
Elvis Presley owned a 1974 bright Yellow Pantera. It s said, [he opened fire on the
automobile] when it refused to start at his Memphis, Tennessee, home. The reasons
behind the multiple issues surrounding the first full production Panteras are attributed
to a rush to production.
The sports car went from an idea on paper to cars rolling off the assembly line in less
than a year. Airflow was a big shortcoming in these sports cars. The engine
overheated easily due to an undersized radiator with poor airflow across its core.
Airflow was also an issue for the interior cabin. Drivers and passengers complained
about oppressive temperatures in the tight interior cabin. This issue was amplified
when the engine began to overheat. Owner s also complained about driver comfort.
The intrusion of the left front wheel well into the foot area made the car difficult to
drive. This is especially true if you have large feet. Jay Leno owns a 1971 Pantera. He
s on record of saying he has to take his shoes off to drive the car.
All Panteras came with Ford s ZF manual transmission. It utilized an Italian style
gated shifter that looked better than it operated. Although the ZF five speed is
considered durable and reliable,
The Impact Of Current Common Tests On Employment
Law
Employment law has been criticised for impeding efficiency and competitiveness. In
this essay I will assess the problems of current common tests of employment status,
mainly focusing on atypical workers, and also the impact of the development of
employment law. The main objective of employment law The most important
function of employment law in the economic perspective is to determine the
limitations of managerial authority so as to protect workers against inequality in the
commodification of labour. The main objective of labour law is claimed to be a
countervailing force to counteract the inequality of bargaining power which is
inherent and must be inherent in the employment relationship. Can labour standards
and labour market regulation be an input into efficiency and competitiveness? The
essence of employment law inevitably affects the efficiency of a business in a
competitive market. We then need to determine in what way it affects the efficiency
and competitiveness, whether it improves productivity, labour and skills.
Employment Status Common Law Tests Issues The question of the employment
status is critical in employment law. There are various different situations and
circumstances where identifying the employment status can be made tough. There
are blurred boundaries between employees, workers and independent contractors, and
this can contribute to a huge problem because it is fundamental to identify them, as
the protected rights offered depends on their
Racism At The United States
After being arrested in the United States, African Americans are 52% more likely
to be detained than whites while facing a felony trial. For decades, Americans were
being judgmental towards each other based on the complexion of another person s
skin. It is now 2015, and racism is still a big factor in our country. So, why does
racism still exist after all these year? Racism will always be the thorn in our sides
that keeps our country from truly accepting our differences and our opinions or
lifestyles. African Americans are the most targeted racial group when it comes to
racism in America because defiance and hatred for black peopleis an essential part of
Euro/Americanized culture. As the young African Americanis leaning down to drink
water, there s another fountain to his left. These fountains can be exemplified as
how black and whites were separated from having equality and the same rights. The
one that looks better and splendid, is used for whites. While the fountain that
African Americans drink from, looks older and less appealing. Even though the
water may have tasted the same, the quality of what black people had possessed
wasn t the same as whites, and that had an effect on society. It made our society
discriminate ones racewith no purpose or reasoning. According to the CNN.com,
cultural discrimination results from social stereotyping and leads to poor
communication and interpersonal relationships. Because of racism, humans will
always have a judgement like

Another key benefit to NOC Ltd of using an overseas agent is that the company
gets the advantage of their extensive knowledge of NOC Ltd s target market.
However, there are risks associated with the use of agents as a method of entering
an overseas market such as conflicts of interest addressed by the agency theory
which is cited in Crum et al (2005, p16). Some agents might follow their own
strategies for example, by representing NOC Ltd s competitors. Another downfall of
using overseas agents is that NOC Ltd may lose control over its marketing and brand
image if the agent is not willing to build the company s brand. Houston (2005) goes
further to suggest trust issues as another risk therefore, meaning that it could be
difficult for Gemma to ensure that the foreign partner, in this case the agent, will
uphold its end of the agreement. As a result of entering an overseas market, NOC
Ltd might encounter foreign exchange risks as all their orders are in Euros
therefore, resulting in NOC Ltd s products being more expensive in the foreign
currency. This could mean that Gemma will not be able to negotiate payment
currency in the Eurozone as she has to exchange the Euros to Sterling. And if she is
losing money when exchanging, then her company could likely lose profits. Due to
the economic downturn , a lot of customers will not be able to buy too
Beowulf Is Fearless
Beowulf had all the qualities that a hero has in every aspect. In the beginning of the
story Beowulf arrived to Denmark where he met his new enemy. The people of
Denmark were being attacked by a monster named Grendel. Their only hope was that
Beowulf the fearless and honorable warrior in the universe would come to their
rescue. Beowulfwas the only man that was fearless of anything that came his way,
and that included Grendelas well. He never felt that he was not strong enough to
defeat anything that came his way. When he saw Grendel for the first time he had
no fear in him and the way he fought was prove of that. But that was what made
Beowulf fearless was the fact that he didn t over think his way of doing his actions;
he went at it with
The Influence Of Mikhail Gorbachev On The Soviet Union
One of the most obvious changes Mikhail Gorbachev had on the Soviet Union is
how he worked towards reforming their economy. He acknowledged and faced the
issue head on. Gorbachev realized that the Soviet Union s economy was focused
solely on producing weapons for the military. Seeking to fix this, he met with United
States President Ronald Reagan to discuss limiting both countries weapons. Although
these talks weren t all successful, they were still a sign of great progress compared to
the relationship the two countries had previously had.
Another one of the many things Mikhail Gorbachev is remembered for is his policy of
glasnost, which means openness. Unlike his predecessors, Gorbachev believed that
citizens of the Soviet Union should
The Church Is A New Covenant
In society today, thousands of churches are gathering at different days and times,
believing in different rituals and gods. These are called universal churches . In the
gospels, we read about Jesus Christ establishing how a church should operate. The
goal of this paper is to discuss what the church is along with what the mission of the
church is. I will use definitions to help explain, Scriptural references, theological
insights, and class notes.
In our notes, Dr. Galdamez defined the church as, the assembly of God s new
covenant people who have been graciously redeemed from sin, death, and the devil
and have been united to Christ through faith in his salvific work on the cross and
through his resurrection. Some key points in this definition that should be noted
are that the church is a new covenant people and we are united in faith through
Christ s work on the cross. When we look at the old covenant, people were under
the law. They followed mans way of living. In the old covenant, they did not know
about the gathering of saints because it was not revealed to them. The only thing
they knew were the laws established my Moses which was called the Mosaic Law
(Ex. 19, 20:19; Lev. 1 7, 23, 26:46; Rom. 9:4). Since the Gospels, we are now under
the new covenant which is grace. In the new covenant, a sinful nation was redeemed
by Jesus Christ s blood which was shed on the cross (Eph. 1:7; Acts 17:11, Matt.
27:51). Another definition of the church according to Grudem was, the
Identity In The Dark Knight
Clearly the name of the movie The Dark Knight is referring to the batman. He is the
knight that protects Gotham and its people of any threats, but he is a dark knight
because he protects Gotham in shadows and most of the scenes in the movie of him
in the batman suit is at night. And of course, a hero needs a villain and that villain is
Joker. Movie starts with Joker robbing a bank and telling all the robbers to kill each
other and in the end, he is alone standing, which shows how twisted and crazy he is.
Now both batmanand joker are hiding their identity in the movie by wearing a mask
and make up, which could be recognized as one of the theme of identity in the movie.
The disguise to hide the identity can lead to the question, what can
Faith, Belief and Human Experience in Song of Solomon
by...
For this particular research paper, a question to be answered was: What role does
myth plays in Song of Solomon? This particular question had posed the most
important and significant part of the novel. Was really myth or the truth that had
helped the novel to progress to in its ending? The answer for these questions will be
answered as this paper moves on with its pages focusing on the myths and events that
had transpired in the whole novel.
Song of Solomon was a novel written by Toni Morrison that is probably biblical in its
aspects. It was very much alike to the book of the Bible Songs of Solomon for its
aspects and facets of love, romance and being changed. Song of Solomon by Toni

A lot of critics had said that Morrison s novel was greatly influenced by Bible and
the Greek Mythology. In most of the characters that Morrison has on her novel, the
names were mostly gotten either from the bible and the Greek myth. The
interesting part is that even their roles as somewhat similar in context. For example
would be Circe who was a great storyteller in the novel of Morrison, whom
encourages and charms the protagonist with words to do her bidding. It was same
with the Circe in Homer s stories that was very significant in the story of Odysseus
(Fletcher 407).
Critics had said that it was Morrison s compelling trait to revise myths and folktales
and used it for her own novels. It was this very characteristic of her that the readers
should clearly understand in order to fully internalize the correspondence of
Morrison s words and the way she use classical texts. It was Morrison s variety of
ways to used myths and folktales on her accord which the readers should read and
understand (Fletcher 407).
Understanding Song of Solomon
Like what Odyssey and the Bible had featured, the novel Song of Solomon was a
complex narrative structure with several mixtures of tales which had sufficiently
filled the past but left the present in seemingly confusing state. It was this very
contradiction that was loved by the readers of Toni Morrison s literary works. It was
Morrison s usage of names that hides the real identity of her
Coca Col Marketing And Advertising Campaigns Essay
If I am going to spotlight a historic company with tons of great advertising to learn
from, who is better than Coca Cola? This classic brand started of reminding us to
Drink Coca Cola since 1886 and now recently encourages everyone around the world
to Open Happiness every day. Even though their slogans are always changing as the
years go by, one thing that has remained constant throughout the history of Coke is
the innovative marketing and advertisingcampaigns that have launched and re
launched the brand. Coca Cola advertising history is filled with famous campaigns
that rank among the best in the world.
Coca Cola history began in 1886 when the curiosity of an Atlanta pharmacist, Dr.
John S. Pemberton, led him to create a unique tasting soft drink that could be sold
at soda fountains. He created a flavored syrup, took it to his neighborhood
pharmacy, where it was mixed with carbonated water. It was deemed excellent by
those he had chose to sample it. Dr. Pemberton s partner and bookkeeper, Frank M.
Robinson, is credited with naming the beverage Coca Cola as well as designing the
trademarked, distinct script, which is still used today.
When it first launched in the late 1800s, Coca Cola was already ahead of its time in
its marketing, using coupons and creating branded merchandise. Coca Cola may be
one of the best known brands in the world today, but that wasn t always the case.
However, by the beginning of the next century, it had a surprising million dollar
Le Morte Darthur, Gandalf And Merlin
In a 1967 essay, J. R. R. Tolkien said he saw Gandalf as an angelic being, given the
form of an old man to limit his powers on earth. He would never say the same of
Merlin. While Tolkien drew much inspiration from Arthurian legend, especially Sir
Thomas Malory s Le Morte Darthur, Gandalf and Merlin are very different
characters. Merlinis a man, one whose role in much of Arthurian legend is as a loyal
servant of the Kings of Camelot, willing to do anything to help them. He also rarely
performs serious acts of magic. Gandalf, on the other hand, is a warrior mage, an
immortal being sent to protect the people of Middle Earth. He displays a powerful
use of magic as well, and unlike Merlin, rallies the people of Middle Earth to his
cause and gives... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
King Uther, whom Merlin serves, falls in love with Igraine, the wife of a
neighboring duke, but the duke refuses to allow Uther to have her, and Igraine is
too loyal a woman to willingly commit adultery. So, Merlin devises a plan, telling
Uther, this night ye shall lie with Igraine . . . and ye shall be like the duke her
husband, Ulfias will be like Sir Brastias . . . and I will be like Sir Jordanus (Le
Morte, 5). Merlin had disguised the men so well that they took on the appearance
of other people, enough that Igraine believed Uthor was her husband. Merlin s
greatest feats usually involve shapeshifting and disguise, as well as perhaps
prophecy. After Merlin comes to Arthur in the guise of a child, and then an old
man, to tell him about his parentage, he says, But I ever ought to be heavy, for I
shall die a shameful death, to be put in the earth quick, and ye shall die a worshipful
death (Le Morte, 23). This foreshadows Merlin s death at the hands of his
protГ©gГ© Nineve, and Arthur s death at the end of the book, and illustrates that
Merlin has some knowledge of the events in the future. He demonstrates this once
again after subduing Sir Pellinore, when he tells Arthur, And he shall tell you the
name of your own son begotten of your sister that shall be the destruction of all this
realm (Le Morte, 29). Through his powers of foresight, Merlin can pinpoint what will
bring about the end of Camelot. Gandalf, although immortal and powerful, rarely
shows these powers of foresight. The future in Lord of the Rings is something that
cannot be known, only fought
The Ncaa Men s Basketball Tournament
As a nonprofit the NCAA is often not compared to large companies even it makes
comparable revenue. All television and video game revenue, as well as ticket, jersey,
and souvenir sales made from college athletics all go to the NCAA, the conferences,
the athletic departments, and the coaches. In fact, one study suggests, Men s
basketball and football combine for $6 billion alone (Mondello, Piquero, Piquero,
Gertz Bratton, 2013). None of that revenue goes directly to the student athleteeven
though the NCAA surely has enough moneyto do so if it chooses. USA Today writer
Bruce Horovitz states in his article, March Madness Evokes Marketer Madness
that, The NCAA men s basketball tournament generated $1.15 billion in television
ads in 2013, well beyond the revenue generated by the NFL and NBA playoffs,
according to ESPN (Horovitz, 2014). Marc Edelman, a professor at City University
of New York takes it a bit farther in his article The Case for Paying College
Athletes, and claims, The college sports industry generates $11 billion in annual
revenues. Fifty colleges report annual revenues that exceed $50 million. Meanwhile,
five colleges report annual revenues that exceed $100 million (Edelman, 2014). In
contrast, during the 2014 2015 season the NBA grossed about $5.18 billion in
revenues according to Forbes Magazine, which was a league record high. The
NCAA revenue money is also not evenly distributed among the schools, as top tiered
athletic programs tend to make more money

Ketogenic Diet On Exercise Metabolism, And
Ketogenic diet refers to low carb diet, or low carb high fat (LCHF), in which the
body produces ketones in the liver to be used as energy. This diet focuses on eating
high fat, adequate protein, and low carbohydrate foods, which could be beneficial to
our bodies if we consume the right types of fat such as avocado, beef tallow, butter,

thinking about it makes my body tingle. I believe he made the best decision and
also in the process made him grow a lot in his abilities. I believe that he was just

Deforestation In Japanese Essay
Japan as a whole is a disaster prone country, mostly due to its position on the Pacific
Rim fault line, but also because of climatic and seismic factors. However, for the
purpose of this assignment I will be focusing specifically on the region of Tokyo
Yokohama. Yokohama is a city of 3.7 million located on the western coast of Tokyo
Bay, roughly 17 miles south of Tokyo. Yokohama is the second largest city in Japan,
beaten out only by Tokyo. The combined population of Tokyo and Yokohama
Metropolitan Area is 16,889,000 so roughly 17,000,000 people are living in 1,013
square miles, making for extremely densely populated conditions. (These households

Tokyo is on the ocean side of the island, making the city incredibly susceptible.
Typhoons can cause flooding and landslides, which can be extremely dangerous to
people and cause destruction such as collapsed buildings and fallen trees. The
volcanoes belong to the Pacific Ring of Fire, caused by subduction zones of the
Pacific plate beneath continental and other oceanic plates along its margins. Japan
lies in a zone of extreme crustal instability. Mount Fuji poses the biggest threat the
Tokyo. Located only 60 miles from Tokyo, this stratovolcano is very much active
and could cause mass hysteria for many people when it next erupts. A volcanic
eruption can pour ash and lava all over the city. Over the years, Japan has taken lots of
steps to lighten the damage future earthquakes could inflict. Scientists are studying
ways to predict the occurrence of quakes more accurately. Authorities have put strict
laws on the construction buildings so they are more resistant to quakes. Many local
governments have adopted an earthquake prevention plan that outlines the steps that
should be taken in case a major earthquake strikes, including the regulation of traffic,

Best Ways To Respond To Conflict
The best way to respond to conflict is to stay positive when you are dealing with
conflict. There have been several different examples of how people have been able
to overcome conflict by staying positive, such as Anne Frank, Martin Luther King

positive attitude can help people solve problems and conflict During WW 2, Hitler

Even before Anne went into hiding she was happy about what she was doing. When
Anne and her family were getting ready to go to the annex, Anne was happy to leave
things like clothes and entertainment. Preoccupied by the thought of going into
hiding,I stuck the craziest things in the bag, but I m not sorry. Memories mean
more to me then dresses... (Frank, Anne) As the quote shows, Anne was staying
positive even while she was packing and getting ready to hide. In the 1950 60,

school is becoming an unpopular idea for teenagers who are faced with thousands of
dollars of debtafter collegeand their only 21, and trying to make a living while
trying to go to college is nearly impossible. Let alone trying to start a life while a

However, according to the New Jersey American Progression, this claim is incorrect.
After New Jersey raised its minimum wage it found no evidence that employment
there fell as a result (Lester 1). When the wage was raised in New Jersey economists
theorized that if the wage is raised nationwide, the amount of money that people earn
will be in line with the national inflation. The myth regarding raising the minimum
wage will lead to higher inflation rates is incorrect. In a letter to President Obama
multiple economists wrote, With the weight of evidence now showing that increases
in the minimum wage have had little or no negative effect on the number of
employment on minimum wage workers, inflation is still higher than the set point of
the minimum wage which is not accounting for current inflation rates (Neumark 4).
The minimum wage needs to be adjusted for nationwide inflation which has risen in
the past twenty years and has not been adjusted enough. An increase in minimum
wage will benefit individuals and the economy as a whole, the individuals will
receive more money in order to support themselves more efficiently, and the
economy will see a simulative effect due to people spending their extra earnings. If
the wage is raised, the economy will be adjusted for current inflation levels which

Sales had been flat for the first five years of the 2000s and were in decline. In 2007,
Kraft Foods China was an unprofitable, $100 million business that was not growing,
noted Sanjay Khosla, Kraft Foods president of developing markets, in an interview
published by the Boston Consulting Group. Kraft was even thinking of pulling the
product out of the Chinese market completely, due to poor sales.
The company as a whole was performing poorly. This led to a shake up of executive
management in 2006, with Irene B. Rosenfeld installed as chief executive officer
(CEO). Rosenfeld had previously worked at Kraft for 22 years before leaving in
2003 to head Frito Lay North America. In early 2007, Rosenfeld outlined a strategy to
turn the company around that included product quality, research and development (R
amp;D), and acquisitions as critical to the future growth of the company. Rosenfeld
hired cutting edge business leaders such as Khosla to help create the strategy that
would change the way Kraft Foods Inc. does business.
Fewer, but Larger Bets: Growth Through Focus and the 5 10 10 Strategy at Kraft
Foods
When Sanjay Khosla left Fonterra Group in 2007 to spearhead Kraft Foods business
in developing countries, he was tasked with discovering a way to realize the potential
for growth in developing markets that had eluded Kraft and so many other large,
successful
What Is Two Center For Disease Control, And Safety...
The incident being studied in this report occurred in early June of 2014. Two Centers
for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) labs were found to be guilty of
mishandling biohazardous material, and negligent to following proper safety
regulations surrounding the handling of biohazardous material. The result of this was
more than 80 employees were exposed to live anthrax pathogens, putting their lives in
potential danger. In addition, two strains of flu were accidentally cross contaminated
and shipped to another lab, risking the lives of those at the lab who handled it. The
U.S. Department of Agriculture conducted the investigations and work was seized
immediately in both labs. The specifics surrounding the incident included dangerous

A Ziploc bag does not contain special protective properties that would prevent the
exposure of a worker to this live pathogen that could severely harm them. On both
accounts, the CDC failed to obey the proper protocol. In addition to the anthrax
being transported in an unsafe manner, the bags in which this material was stored
were said to be mislabeled. The anthrax spores were labeled as inactive, when in
reality this was not the case. Under the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety
Act, Ontario Regulation Reg. 860: Workplace Hazardous Materials Information
System (WHMIS), section 6(2): (2) An employer who produces a hazardous
product in a workplace shall ensure that every worker who works with or who may
be exposed in the course of his or her work to the hazardous product is informed
about all hazard information of which the employer is or ought to be aware
concerning the hazardous product and its use, storage and handling. This
mislabeling violates this section due to the fact that the workers were misled,
thinking the anthrax was inactive. Live anthrax is not only a very harmful pathogen
if one is exposed to it, but can be fatal if left untreated. Due to the fact that the
Ziploc bag was not even labelled correctly, the workers may not have been aware of
the potential exposure they had and thus put their lives at risk unknowingly. The
second incident, in which the second lab s operations were halted, came as a result of
similar circumstances as

Allegory Of The Cave Essay. Platos allegory of the cave essay topics - mfacourses887.web.fc2.com

  • 1. Allegory Of The Cave Essay Crafting an essay on the topic of the "Allegory of the Cave" can prove to be both intellectually stimulating and challenging. This philosophical allegory, presented by Plato in his work "The Republic," delves into complex ideas about perception, reality, and the journey of self-discovery. As an essayist, you would need to navigate through the intricate layers of Plato's allegory, unraveling its metaphors and exploring the profound implications it has on human understanding. One of the primary difficulties lies in grasping the nuanced concepts embedded in the allegory itself. Plato's allegory is a symbolic representation of the journey from ignorance to enlightenment, and translating these abstract ideas into coherent and accessible language requires a careful and thoughtful approach. Moreover, conveying the philosophical depth of the allegory demands a thorough understanding of Plato's broader philosophical framework. Furthermore, the essay should not merely be a summary of the allegory but must also engage critically with the ideas presented. These are all quotes given by the US district attorney Denny Chin that give a mere glimpse into the horrible impact that Bernie Madoff has had on 21st century American society. Madoff cheated investors worldwide in the biggest Ponzi scheme in American history stealing over sixty five billion dollars from his clients .His enormous ponzi scheme was essentially evil genius and because of this incredible con Madoff has become the face of fraud in the 21st century and someone who exemplifies the dark side of wall street. As I entered the mall, my first thought was that watching young people surely could not generate an entire three to five page report. You see, I have never taken an interest in watching people that I did not have any direct contact with. I took the escalator down to the first level and I ordered some Chinese food and a lemonade drink. I found an empty table and proceeded to let the observation begin. There are people continually walking in with raincoats and umbrellas dripping. As I look around, I realize that the three groups I observed last week are probably not here tonight. I honestly think I would recognize them due to how much they stood out to me on my last visit. It did not take long before I was hit with that same sense of sadness I experienced last Saturday. All of the young kids and some of the adults gave me the impression of a desire for attention. Everyone wanted to be noticed in some way which was obvious by the clothes and accessories they all wore. I even saw a few mothers whose clothing was not any different from their teenage daughters. The girls I see here this evening are young teens who are wearing too much makeup trying to be seen by the young boys who are wearing expensive sneakers and saggy pants down around their buttocks. A few of the girls I see are young mothers pushing baby strollers and conversing about the latest fashion. One young girl I see is pushing a newborn in a stroller while yelling at another toddler about two years old. She is trying hard to act as though it is not bothering her to have two young kids all alone but it is apparent that she is has gotten into something much more than what she bargained for. By the way, did I mention there was no father in
  • 4. Seamus Heaney Blackberry-Picking Essay Seamus Heaney s poem Blackberry Picking uses very compelling word choice. There are many things I noticed within it that are interesting. First, Heaney uses first person plural pronouns for most of the poem, implying that there was another person picking berries with the narrator. We trekked... , ...our boots. , Our hands... , he uses these pronouns a lot, so it is obvious the narrator wasn t alone. This may be an important, easily overlooked clue to the theme of the poem. The lesson of the poem is, stated loosely, the best things in life don t last forever, and this second character may have to do something with that. Almost all references to this second character appear in the first stanza. The second stanza has only one brief mention of another person right at the beginning of the line with We hoarded the fresh berries in the byre. This is the last time Heaney mentions this second person. Immediately after this line, the mood of the poem shifts to a more melancholy, sad tone. One possibility is could be that the narrator loved this second person (the happy, playful tone in the first ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The poem doesn t seem odd at first, but by looking at the specific words used, it seems a little off. Heaney uses words like clot , flesh , blood , tongue , lust , hunger , on top big dark blobs burned like a plate of eyes , palms sticky as Bluebeard s. These are awfully odd, unsettling words to use. I wouldn t describe blackberries on a bush as a glossy purple clot. It is uncomfortable and unsettling to even read. I wouldn t describe the outside of a berry as flesh , and I wouldn t describe the juice of it as summer s blood. There has to be some reason that Heaney used this kind of word choice. At first read the poem sounds beautiful, but the more you read it the more, almost disgusting it is. It seems like Heaney specifically used unnerving word choice in this

Researchers create polymers by chemically stringing together large numbers of simple carbon based units called monomers ( single parts ). The near endless variety of plastics stems from the diversity of monomers, esters, amides and imides, to name a few, and the degree of linkage that exists between polymer chains: In general, the more bonds there are, the stiffer the plastic (Perkins 34 37). . • 10. Descriptive Essay About My Hair I m the girl that refuses to put herself out there out of fear of rejection. The only thing about me that is out there is my hair that is a screaming light blue. I do this to put my opinion out into the world without talking. This however brings unwanted attention to me. My hair makes people stare. Some think that it s cool and they complement me but others have look down on me because of it. Even my own family has made comments putting me down about my hair. One time, for example, my Aunt Darcie came up to me during a family party and started talking to me about my hair. You are dying your hair for senior pictures, right? You don t honestly want that hanging up on your mom s wall forever, do you? My cheeks were beat red and I was so embarrassed but I told her that I wasn t going to. I kept my hair blue just for my senior pictures just to show my Aunt I liked my hair and didn t want it some normal color. I try my best to blend in. I m quiet as I sit in the back of the classroom and observe my peers as they talk and be open with each other; a habit that I have yet to shake through my many years of school. My palms sweat when attention is brought to me. I replay everything I say over and over looking for any flaw in the words that come out of my mouth. This action keeps me up late at night picking a prodding at my memories and the mistakes I have made. Anxiety is my unwanted security blanket that constricts my everyday life. It makes even the simplest tasks difficult. Each day anxiety wraps its cold boney arms around me squeezing until it hurts. I have had anxiety since the day I could remember. It makes even the simplest of tasks hard. I can barely form sentences in situations because of it. I try my hardest to avoid contact with people. I will not raise my hand in class out of fear of saying the wrong answer, partner projects terrify and public speaking forget about it. There s times that I know the right answer but I don t want to speak up because of the attention. Like in high school I was really good at history and in my sophomore year I knew almost every question answered but I refused to even raise my hand. My anxiety has also made it very hard to make friends. I guess being afraid to talk to

They believe we should all be equal and have the same opportunities in life. The government should help us so we can all be financially stable. Things like health care and food stamps are important because the government should help all of us, if we cannot do that for ourselves. Although liberals want help from the government they don t believe they should control what we do in our personal lives. They are very big advocators for women s rights for this reason. Focusing on actual government, a big belief is that federal government should have more say over citizens instead of letting state government have control over what we do. Along with having laws they believe more laws will help us. It is a way to keep people in line and provide equal opportunity for everyone. I identify as a liberalbut I don t hold all the same beliefs as the typical liberals. I come from a big Hispanic Catholic family; I am one of five children. Simply holding a door for someone as they walk out, or saying thank you for a generous act goes a long way. I know I try to make someone s day any chance I can, I just wish others would put this into mind as well. It reminds us of the important life lessons and unwritten rules. The song also stresses that although you may have priorities, don t let those blind you from taking time to focus on others such as your lifelong friends or family. I have been a victim, as well as been guilty of participating in these actions. We all become so wrapped up in ourselves. Sometimes we forget how lucky we are to have been given the friends and family we rely on each

They appear to have transfigured nearly every aspect of our sociality. And they have certainly inspired a great number of folk theories about their effects on society. In fact, the use of SNSs now constitutes the most popular Internet activity in many counties, including the UK. Research studies have proffered many different views of the effects of SNSs on society. Some scholars have described SNSs as a transformative force that has come to dominate the zeitgeist of a generation, spawning new communities, where there were once just distributed individuals. Others have depicted SNSs as a risky technology that has blurred the boundaries of the private sphere, frequently and inadvertently exposing personal data to unintended audiences. As such, writing a thesis on social media choice and commitment in a time when society and mass media appears to be oversaturated with SNSs was no easy task. This statement made me start to really think about landscapeand how we must look further than what just meets the naked eye. Pantera Problems and Solutions Elvis Presley owned a 1974 bright Yellow Pantera. It s said, [he opened fire on the automobile] when it refused to start at his Memphis, Tennessee, home. The reasons behind the multiple issues surrounding the first full production Panteras are attributed to a rush to production. The sports car went from an idea on paper to cars rolling off the assembly line in less than a year. Airflow was a big shortcoming in these sports cars. The engine overheated easily due to an undersized radiator with poor airflow across its core. Airflow was also an issue for the interior cabin. Drivers and passengers complained about oppressive temperatures in the tight interior cabin. This issue was amplified when the engine began to overheat. Owner s also complained about driver comfort. The intrusion of the left front wheel well into the foot area made the car difficult to drive. This is especially true if you have large feet. Jay Leno owns a 1971 Pantera. He s on record of saying he has to take his shoes off to drive the car. All Panteras came with Ford s ZF manual transmission. It utilized an Italian style gated shifter that looked better than it operated. Although the ZF five speed is considered durable and reliable,
  • 24. The Impact Of Current Common Tests On Employment Law Employment law has been criticised for impeding efficiency and competitiveness. In this essay I will assess the problems of current common tests of employment status, mainly focusing on atypical workers, and also the impact of the development of employment law. The main objective of employment law The most important function of employment law in the economic perspective is to determine the limitations of managerial authority so as to protect workers against inequality in the commodification of labour. The main objective of labour law is claimed to be a countervailing force to counteract the inequality of bargaining power which is inherent and must be inherent in the employment relationship. Can labour standards and labour market regulation be an input into efficiency and competitiveness? The essence of employment law inevitably affects the efficiency of a business in a competitive market. We then need to determine in what way it affects the efficiency and competitiveness, whether it improves productivity, labour and skills. Employment Status Common Law Tests Issues The question of the employment status is critical in employment law. There are various different situations and circumstances where identifying the employment status can be made tough. There are blurred boundaries between employees, workers and independent contractors, and this can contribute to a huge problem because it is fundamental to identify them, as the protected rights offered depends on their

For decades, Americans were being judgmental towards each other based on the complexion of another person s skin. It is now 2015, and racism is still a big factor in our country. So, why does racism still exist after all these year? Racism will always be the thorn in our sides that keeps our country from truly accepting our differences and our opinions or lifestyles. African Americans are the most targeted racial group when it comes to racism in America because defiance and hatred for black peopleis an essential part of Euro/Americanized culture. However, there are risks associated with the use of agents as a method of entering an overseas market such as conflicts of interest addressed by the agency theory which is cited in Crum et al (2005, p16). Some agents might follow their own strategies for example, by representing NOC Ltd s competitors. Another downfall of using overseas agents is that NOC Ltd may lose control over its marketing and brand image if the agent is not willing to build the company s brand. In the gospels, we read about Jesus Christ establishing how a church should operate. The goal of this paper is to discuss what the church is along with what the mission of the church is. I will use definitions to help explain, Scriptural references, theological insights, and class notes. In our notes, Dr. Galdamez defined the church as, the assembly of God s new covenant people who have been graciously redeemed from sin, death, and the devil and have been united to Christ through faith in his salvific work on the cross and through his resurrection. Some key points in this definition that should be noted are that the church is a new covenant people and we are united in faith through Christ s work on the cross. When we look at the old covenant, people were under the law. They followed mans way of living. In the old covenant, they did not know about the gathering of saints because it was not revealed to them. The only thing they knew were the laws established my Moses which was called the Mosaic Law (Ex. 19, 20:19; Lev. 1 7, 23, 26:46; Rom. 9:4). Since the Gospels, we are now under the new covenant which is grace. In the new covenant, a sinful nation was redeemed by Jesus Christ s blood which was shed on the cross (Eph. 1:7; Acts 17:11, Matt. 27:51). Another definition of the church according to Grudem was, the

For example would be Circe who was a great storyteller in the novel of Morrison, whom encourages and charms the protagonist with words to do her bidding. Merlin had disguised the men so well that they took on the appearance of other people, enough that Igraine believed Uthor was her husband. Merlin s greatest feats usually involve shapeshifting and disguise, as well as perhaps prophecy. After Merlin comes to Arthur in the guise of a child, and then an old man, to tell him about his parentage, he says, But I ever ought to be heavy, for I shall die a shameful death, to be put in the earth quick, and ye shall die a worshipful death (Le Morte, 23). This foreshadows Merlin s death at the hands of his protГ©gГ© Nineve, and Arthur s death at the end of the book, and illustrates that Merlin has some knowledge of the events in the future. He demonstrates this once again after subduing Sir Pellinore, when he tells Arthur, And he shall tell you the name of your own son begotten of your sister that shall be the destruction of all this realm (Le Morte, 29).
